Wedding bells rang on Friday night for Teen Mom couple Jade Cline and Sean Austin!
The Teen Mom: The Next Chapter stars got hitched at the Black Iris Estate in Carmel, Indiana, surrounded by their âTeen Momâ co-starsâ and MTV cameras!
Jade and Seanâ who reunited after Sean got sober several years agoâ got engaged during the first season of âNext Chapter.âÂ
On their big day, Jade was walked down the aisle by her parents, Christy and Corey (whom she had been somewhat estranged from before they got sober). Sean got emotional upon seeing his bride walking toward him.
After saying âI do,â the newlyweds partied all night with their co-stars.
Here are some more details from the wedding!Â
Venue:Â Jade and Sean chose the Black Iris Estate for the nuptials, which offers an outdoor ceremony space with an black iron gazebo where the couple said their wedding vows. The guests sat in a space surrounded by trees.
Wedding Guests: Nearly the entire âTeen Momâ crew came to Indiana to celebrate the nuptials. Guests included Briana DeJesus and Devoin Austin (who were both in the wedding party); Gary and Kristina Shirley; Amber Portwood; Maci Bookout and Taylor McKinney; Cory Wharton; Kayla Sessler and her boyfriend Ryan Leigh; Brittany DeJesus and her fiancĂ©Â Steven; Cheyenne Floyd and Zach Davis; and Cheyenneâs father Kyle Floyd, mother Margaret and stepdad. (It does not appear that Tyler Baltierra, Catelynn Lowell or Leah Messer attended the festivities.)Â
Seanâs twin brother Brendon served as the best man, while Jadeâs best friend Chau was the maid of honor. Their daughter Khloie was reportedly their flowergirl.Â
Reception:Â Jade and Seanâs reception was truly unique. The Estateâs ballroom featured crystal chandeliers and long tables adorned with tabletop greenery and black and white candlesticks. Jade and Sean did a black, white and gold color scheme, complete with black âKing and Queenâ chairs at their head table.Â
Guests were treated to an âupside downâ floating wedding cake, as well as a hookah area, photo booth and plenty of dancing.Â
Speeches:Â Jadeâs mother, Christy, made a short speech welcoming Sean to their family. After mentioning that she originally told Sean no when he asked for her blessing to marry Jade, she acknowledged how much he has grown and applauded Jade for standing by him through the hard times.
âWeâre not giving away a daughter to you, weâre gaining a son,â Christy told Sean.
Chau and Brendon also gave speeches at the reception.
Food:Â The couple served an elegant meal, complete with fall-themed items and nods to their home state of Indiana. In addition to braised beef and chicken entrees, the menu included Indiana corn pudding, pumpkin desserts and chocolate dipped strawberries.

Why Should You Choose a Barn Wedding Venue for Your Celebration?
A lot of planning goes into a dream wedding. Just like many other important decisions, you have to carefully select a venue. Choosing the correct venue sets the tone for your entire celebration. So, you can go with barn wedding venues that have gained popularity for good reason. Letâs explore the compelling reasons of choosing a royal wedding venue in Central Alberta for your special day.
Barn venues have a rustic charm and natural beauty
Barn wedding venues are known for their rustic charm and natural beauty. Imagine walking into a barn wedding venue, and you're immediately greeted by a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The wood in the barn has a lovely, rustic quality, with exposed beams and rafters adding character. It feels like a warm hug from the moment you step inside. Now, what if you want a wedding venue that's elegant and timeless? Well, here's the beauty of a barn venue â it can effortlessly pull off that sense of timeless elegance.
Barns offer versatility and you get a customizable wedding venue
One of the standout features of barn wedding venues is their versatility. These spaces offer a blank canvas for you to bring your wedding vision to life. Whether you envision a shabby-chic affair, a bohemian celebration, or a classic country wedding, barn venues can be transformed to suit your style. The open layouts and neutral palettes allow for endless possibilities in decor and design. It is easier to create a look that suits your vision, whether it's rustic, vintage, bohemian, or classic.
Want a connection to tradition and history, choose a barn wedding venue
Barns have witnessed generations of hard work and community gatherings. So, when you walk down the aisle in a barn, you're not just starting a new chapter in your own story; you're also connecting with the past. It's a way of celebrating love across different times, and that's what makes barn weddings truly special. Your guests will appreciate the unique and meaningful setting that a barn venue offers.
A Barn Wedding Venue in Central Alberta in best for an intimate and cozy atmosphere
If you're planning an intimate wedding with close friends and family, a barn venue can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The smaller, more intimate spaces within a barn allow for genuine connections and a relaxed ambiance. Guests often feel like they are attending a special family gathering rather than a formal event.
Bottom line
Barns have a rustic charm that offers the benefits of intimacy and versatility. These venues can make your celebration truly unforgettable, therefore barns are an excellent choice. Fill your wedding day with the warmth of natural beauty by selecting Sweet Haven Barn. Huntsville Revived #440
As the spring approached summer, the Davis family was excited about their future plans.
âSo, howâs graduation committee?â Autumn asked Charles and Delilah.
âSo far, so good,â Charles answered, âWe have the venue picked. We have the food and music organized. Now itâs just some final details.â
âItâs an indoor venue? I would hate to see rain ruin the event.â Autumn thought back to a few events she had attended in her day, where the weather had proved an issue.
âIndoors, with a bit of outdoor space too, but mostly indoors.â Delilah couldnât wait, even though the event was still a while off.
âCertainly you two, and the rest of the committee, should be proud of yourselves. Itâll look excellent on your resumes; great for your reputations.â Autumn was very proud of the teens.Â
âThank you, Autumn.â Delilah really enjoyed planning this event. She knew the experience would come in handy when she planned her wedding.
âIs making an omelet cooking or baking?â Berlin wanted to know.
â Urm?â Jason had no idea. âWhat do you think?â He too had learned that the best response to Berlinâs questions was further questions.
âMost would say it is cooking - thereâs no chemistry that is taking place, no yeast or baking soda reacting. But if you get the proportion of eggs to other foods wrong, then it does not cook properly, so there is more precision to it.âÂ
Aurora smiled at her brothers and said nothing. She simply ate her omelet with relish.
âLooking forward to seeing you for dinner tonight,â Justin said as he got off the phone with Margery.
âMargeryâs coming over?â Jason asked. She had been coming over more and more, and seemed to be winning over Elle. Jason just loved how happy she made his father, as well as how uncomfortable it made Hunter and Delilah to know they would become step-siblings. Not that that would matter - in a few short months, they would be at university.
âI was filming all afternoon with Ares and Katherine. Helo is helping too.â Elle and her friends spent a lot of time working on their movie, but Justin had seen very few results. Either Ares was too much of a perfectionist, or a bunch of preteens were not capable of quickly making a feature length film. Perhaps it was a bit of both.
âAres is feeling better these days?â Justin asked.
âHe wasnât sick this week,â Elle replied.
The youngest of the Davis family, Berlin and Aurora, were now old enough to truly start to wonder where they came from. Berlin did a lot of research, while Aurora contemplated the stars.
Spring, Days 4-7 came to a happy conclusion for the Davis family.

round up // JULY 21
âTis the season to beat the heat at the always-cold theatres and next to fans set at turbo speed. While my movie watching slowed a bit with the launch of the Summer Olympics on July 23rd, Iâve still got plenty of popcorn-ready and artsy recommendations for you. A few themes in the new-to-me pop culture Iâm recommending this month:
Casts oozing with embarrassing levels of talent (sometimes overqualified for the movies theyâre in)
Pop culture that is responding or reinterpreting past pop culture
Stories that get weEeEeird
Keep on-a-scrollinâ to see which is which!
July Crowd-Pleasers
1. Double Feature â â90s Rom-Coms feat. Lots of Lies: Mystery Date (1991) + The Pallbearer (1996)
In Mystery Date (Crowd: 7.5/10 // Critic: 6/10), Ethan Hawke and Teri Polo get set up on a blind date that gets so bizarre and crime-y Iâm not sure how this didnât come out in the â80s. In The Pallbearer (Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7/10), David Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow try to combine The Graduate with Four Weddings and a Funeral in a story about lost twentysomethings. If you donât like rom-coms in which circumstances depend on lots of lies and misunderstandings, these wonât be your jam, but if youâre like me and donât mind these somewhat-clichĂ© devices, youâll be hooked by likeable casts and plenty of rom and com.
2. The Tomorrow War (2021)
I thought of no fewer movies than this list while watching: Alien, Aliens, Angel Has Fallen, Cloverfield, Interstellar, Kong: Skull Island, Prometheus, A Quiet Place: Part II, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith, The Silence of the Lambs, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and World War Z. And you know what? I like all those movies! (Okay, maybe I just have a healthy respect/fear of The Silence of the Lambs.) The Tomorrow War may not be original, but it borrows some of the best tropes and beats from the sci-fi and action genres, so much so I wish I couldâve seen Chris Pratt and Co. fight those gross monsters on a big screen. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 6/10
3. Dream a Little Dream (1989)
My July pick for the Dumb Rom-Com I Nevertheless Enjoyed! I CANNOT explain the mechanics of this body switch comedy to youânor can the back of the DVD case aboveâbut, boy, what an â80s MOOD. I did not know I needed to see a choreographed dance routine starring Jason Robards and Corey Feldman, but I DID. All I know is some movies are made for me and that Iâm now a card-carrying member of the Two Coreys fan club. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 6.5/10
4. Black Widow (2021)
The braids! The Pugh! Black Widow worked for me both as an exciting action adventure and as a respite from the Marvel adventures dependent on a long memory of the franchise. (Well, mostlyâkeep reading for a second MCU rec much more dependent on the gobs of previous releases.) Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 7.5/10
5. Liar Liar (1997)
Guys, Jim Carrey is hilarious. Thatâs itâthatâs the review. Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 7/10
youtube
6. Sob Rock by John Mayer (2021)
Itâs very possible Iâve already listened to this record more than all other John Mayer records. It doesnât surpass the capital-G Greatness of Continuum, but itâs a little bit of old school Mayer, a little bit â80s soft rock/pop, and Iâve had it on repeat most of the two weeks since itâs been out. Featuring the boppiest bop that ever bopped, at least one lyrical gem in every track, and an ad campaign focused on Walkmans, this record skirts the line between Crowd faves and Critic-worthy musicianship.
7. Double Feature â â00s Ben Affleck Political Thrillers: The Sum of All Fears (2002) + State of Play (2009)
In The Sum of All Fears (Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 7.5/10), Ben Affleck is Jack Ryan caught up in yet another international incident. In State of Play (Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7/10), heâs a hotshot Congressman caught up in a scandal. Both are full of plot twists and unexpected turns, and in both, Affleck is accompanied by actors youâre always happy to see, like Jason Bateman, James Cromwell, Russell Crowe, Jeff Daniels, Viola Davis, Morgan Freeman, Philip Baker Hall, David Harbour, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Liev Schreiber, and Robin Wrightâyes, I swear all of those people are in just those two movies.
8. Loki (2021-)
Unlike Black Widow, you canât go into Loki with no MCU experience. The show finds clever ways to nudge us with reminders (and did better at it than Falcon and the Winter Soldier), but be forewarned that at some point, youâre just going to have to let go and accept wherever this timeline-hopper is taking you. An ever-charismatic cast keeps us grounded (Owen Wilson, Jonathan Majors, and an alligator almost steal the show from Tom Hiddleston in some eps), but while Falcon lasted an episode or two too long, Loki couldâve used a few more to flesh out its complicated plot and develop its characters. Thankfully, the jokes matter almost as much as the sci-fi, so you can still have fun even if you have no idea whatâs going on.
9. Double Feature â Bruce Willis: Die Hard With a Vengeance (1995) + The Whole Nine Yards (2000)
Before Bruce Willis began starring in many random direct-to-DVD movies I only ever hear about in my Redbox emails, he was a Movie Star smirking his way up the box office charts. In the third Die Hard (Crowd: 10/10 // Critic: 7.5/10), he teams up with Samuel L. Jackson to decipher the riddles of a terrorist madman (Jeremy Irons), and itâs a thrill ride. In The Whole Nine Yards (Crowd: 9/10 // Critic: 8/10), heâs hitman that screws up dentist Matthew Perryâs boring life in Canada, andâaside from one frustrating scene of letâs-objectify-women-style nudityâitâs hilarious.
10. This Is the End (2013)
On paper, this is not a movie for me. An irreverent stoner comedy about a bunch of bros partying it up before the end of the world? None of things are for Taylors. But with a little help of a TV edit to pare down the raunchy and crude bits, I laughed my way through and spent the next several days thinking through its exploration of what makes a good person. While little of the plot is accurate to Christian Gospel and theology, some of its big ideas are consistent enough with the themes of the book of Revelation I found myself thinking about it again in church this morning. (Would love to know if Seth Rogen ever expected that.) Plus, I love a good self-aware celebrity spoofâcanât tell you how many times Iâve just laughed remembering the line, âItâs me, Jonah Hill, from Moneyballââand an homage to horror classics. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 7/10
July Critic Picks
1. Summer of Soul (âŠor, When the Television Could Not Be Televised) (2021)
Even director Questlove didnât know about the Harlem Cultural Festival, but now heâs compiled the footage so we can all enjoy one of the coolest music fest lineups ever, including The 5th Dimension, B.B. King, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Nina Simone, Sly and the Family Stone, and Stevie Wonder, who made my friendâs baby dance more than once in the womb. See it on the big screen for top-notch audio. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 9/10
2. Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
Robin Williams takes on the bureaucracy, disillusionment, and malaise of the Vietnam War with comedy. Williams was a one-of-a-kind talent, and here itâs on display at a level on par with Aladdin. Crowd: 8/10 // Critic: 9/10
3. Against the Rules Season 2 (2020-21)
Michael Lewis (author of Moneyball, adapted into a film starring Jonah Hill), is interested in how we talk about fairness. This season he looks at how coaches impact fairness in areas like college admissions, credit cards, and youth sports.Â
4. Bugsy Malone (1976)
A gangster musical starring only children? Itâs a little like someone just picked ideas out of a hat, but somehow it works. You can hear why in the Bugsy Malone episode Kyla and I released this month on SO ITâS A SHOW?, plus how this weird artifact of a film connects with Gilmore Girls.
5. The Queen (2006)
Before The Crown, Peter Morgan wrote The Queen, focusing on Queen Elizabeth II (Helen Mirren) in the days following the death of Princess Diana. Itâs a complex and compassionate drama, both for the Queen and for Prime Minister Tony Blair (Michael Sheen, who has snuck up on me to become a favorite character actor). Maybe Iâve got a problem, but Iâll never tire of the analysis of this famous family. Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 9.5/10
6. The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972)
This month at ZekeFilm, we took a closer look at Revisionist Westerns weâve missed. I fell hard for Roy Bean, and I think you will, too, if for no other reason than you might like a story starring Jacqueline Bisset, Ava Gardner, John Huston, Paul Newman, and Anthony Perkins. Oh, and a bear! Crowd: 8.5/10 // Critic: 10/10
youtube
7. New Trailer Round Up
Naked Singularity (Aug. 6) â John Boyega in a crime thriller!
Queenpins (Aug. 10) â A crime comedy about extreme coupon-ing!
Dune (Oct. 1) â Iâve been cooler on the anticipation for this film, but this new look has me cautiously intrigued thanks to the Bardem + Bautista + Brolin + Chalamet + Ferguson + Isaac + Momoa + Zendaya of it all.
The Last Duel (Oct. 15) â Affleck! Damon! Driver!
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Nov. 11) - Iâm not sure why we need this, but Iâm down for the Paul Rudd + Finn Wolfhard combo
King Richard (Nov. 19) - Will Smith as Venus and Serenaâs father!
Encanto (Nov. 24) â Disney and Lin-Manuel Miranda making more magic together!
House of Gucci (Nov. 24) - Gaga! Pacino! Driver!Â
Also in JulyâŠ
Kyla and I took a look at the classic supernatural soap Dark Shadows and why Sookie might be obsessed with it on Gilmore Girls.
I revisited a so-bad-itâs-good masterpiece thatâs a surrealist dream even Fellini couldnât have cooked up. Yes, for ZekeFilm I wrote about the Vanilla Ice movie, Cool as Ice, which is now a part of my Blu-ray collection.

An Odd Family Tree
A series of snippets from the lives of the FitzSimmons family, set post 7x13. Also, the series of events that leads up to the birth of their grandson.
Available to read on AO3 and FF.net.
Comments make my day!
Chapter 10: Wedding
Coulson was the first to arrive. After Jemma and Fitz had pitched the idea of his LMD-self officiating the wedding to Bobbi and Hunter, they had immediately been on board. Heâd arrived one week early so that they could run through the ceremony so that everything could go smoothly on the big day.
Hunter and Bobbi had offered to be the ones to meet him at the airport. After the initial shock at seeing the fact that he hadnât aged since they last saw him all those years ago, theyâd rushed forwards to hug him. Hunter almost cried. Coulson was incredibly shocked himself, and the taxi ride back to the cottage was full of impossible stories that must have confused the poor driver.
Alya had been waiting in the garden for them. She stood up when the taxi pulled up their rocky driveway and had greeted her uncle with a warm hug. Fitz and Jemma watched on from the front door, with Jemma resting her head on her husbandâs shoulder as they both tried not to cry. Coulson had congratulated them in the form of extremely out-of-date dad jokes, and nobody would have it any other way.
The wedding rehearsal went perfectly.
Next came Daisy and Sousa. Theyâd arrived a day earlier than expected as a surprise. It had been Jemma whoâd opened the door, and sheâd immediately reverted back to her ten-year-old self and had squealed with excitement. She and Daisy embraced straight away and refused to let each other go until theyâd had a good minute or so of hugging.
When Alya came to investigate the commotion from the top of the stairs, sheâd let out a similar sort of noise to her mother. She raced down the stairs, calling out âUncle Dan!â. Daniel, who had gone back to using his cane since his prosthetic had started throwing him slightly off-balance, had laughed heartily as his niece proceeded to almost squeeze the life out of him. Her favourite Aunt didnât escape this treatment, because the moment Jemma let go of her, Alya pounced on Daisy like a fox.
Daisy was over the moon when Hunter and Bobbi dramatically revealed themselves. Dear Sousa was beyond confused.
Davis arrived with Piper two days before the wedding. Though Piper had a broken arm, the also-strangely-young Davis was taking care of her like his life depended on it. Piper was sick and tired of the constant attention. The others felt relieved and reassured that neither of them had changed one bit.
Hunter wanted to experiment with Davis through the medium of extremely-dangerous pranks. Fitz practically had to tackle him to stop him from throwing a butter knife at the back of his head.
Late on the night before the wedding, Mack and Flint arrived. Though they both wanted to come much earlier, both were caught up in SHIELD business. Mack had a mountainâs worth of paperwork and missions to organize, and Flint was one of SHIELDâs top field agents.
Mack had cried upon seeing Fitz and Jemma in person after so, so long. He was still able to pick up a very reluctant Fitz, before doing the same to a less-reluctant Alya.
Heâd bawled like a baby when Bobbi and Hunter walked in. At first heâd frozen, and said their names like he didnât dare to even hope. Theyâd walked closer, and the reunited trio had shared a beautiful moment of hugging each other with tears rolling down all three of their cheeks.
Even later that night, Mack joined Fitz and Hunter to sit down and watch a football game theyâd taped.
And then tomorrow arrived.
Alya had begun to hyperventilate, and Jemma had held her in her arms, whispering to her reassuringly until she felt ready to get ready. Theyâd picked out the perfect dress weeks in advance. It was simple, plain and white, but had subtle, delicate details that made it stand out like one in a million- just like Alya. It had soft, floral lacing around the waist and a wavy pattern towards the bottom. The sleeves were covered with translucent silk. Alya suddenly looked like the princess Jemma and Fitz had always believed she was.
Daisy had offered to do her hair and makeup. Alyaâs hair was relatively short, but that didnât stop her aunt from twisting and curling it and adding various clips and grips and making it impossibly beautiful. There wasnât much makeup, as per the brideâs request, but even the lightest powder and lipstick were added to make her ready.
The ride to the woodland venue was the hardest part. Alya sat squashed between her parents who were desperately trying and failing not to weep. She placed a graceful hand on each of their legs and squeezed it comfortingly. Her parents immediately did the same to her.
Because they were more than her parents. They were her best friends. They were her life. They were her everything.
When theyâd arrived, the driver had to repeatedly tell the trio to not be late since the couple was too busy kissing their daughterâs hands over and over.
Alya apologised for them and they finally exited the car.
When it was time for the ceremony to begin, it was Fitz that got cold feet. He tried so hard to think of the reasons that he disliked Owen, but his mind had gone blank. He couldnât think of a single excuse to blame the situation on, heâd worn a suit and everything, and he knew that everyone was waiting for him.
He silently looked up at his daughter with a pleading expression. Alya wiped away his tears with her finger. And then they did the one thing heâd yearned for and dreaded for so many years.
He walked her down the aisle.
Jemma, Bobbi and Hunter sat at the front, all with watery eyes transfixed on them. Coulson stood under the arch at the end with the biggest smile on his face. Daisy was trying her best not to cry, clutching Danielâs hand under the table. Piper and Davis looked like they were having the time of their lives. Flint and May (when did she arrive?) looked so happy for them. Mack was openly dabbing at his eyes. And OwenâŠ
Owen looked surprisingly dapper in a suit. Forget Fitz, it was even harder trying to imagine the scruffy boy Owen in a suit. But the man had cleaned himself up amazingly, was wearing a stunning black suit (that looked a size too big on him) and had his green eyes locked on Alya.
Those green eyes had shone when they reached the altar. Heâd smiled at Fitz, but Fitz was shaking. He couldnât give away his daughter, especially not to Owen.
But then he turned and saw his team, his family all looking at him expectantly.
And after one final kiss on Alya's hand, he gave it to Owen.
He sat down slowly and immediately linked hands with his wife.
Coulson began his speech.
âWe are gathered here today for the momentous occasion of the marriage of two wonderful people, Alya Fitz-Simmons and Owen Shaw. One could say that their union was written in the stars given their heritage, but these are two souls that are truly in love.â
Alya and Owen stared at each other with utter adoration in their eyes.
âIf anyone has any reason for these two to not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace.â
Nobody spoke up, though Jemma had to hold down Fitzâs knee to stop him from jumping up.
âIn that case, onto the vows. Alya?â
Alya took a deep breath. âIt was my Dad who first introduced us, but Owen you have slowly become my life. It was your pure, unparalleled determination that I fell for, and even before our first date, I think Iâd realised that you are the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, and I promise to always do my best for you. No matter what.â
Owenâs voice was uncharacteristically nervous. âAlya, I⊠youâre such an amazing person. Itâs so hard for me to wrap my head around, that someone as perfect as you could even like someone like me. Youâre so smart, and Iâm just a dumb traveller. And now weâre getting married. I love you, Alya, and I promise to always love and protect you as much as I can.â
Coulson asked for the rings, and the best man (one of Owenâs American friends) handed the matching set over.
It was once the rings were on the fingers, the couple had kissed, and the applause had died down that Jemma and Fitz both broke down into tears and were instantly engulfed in hugs and reassurance from their old teammates in what was the hardest moment of their entire, already challenged lives.

Heaven-Sent
Summary: When your marriage falls apart before it even starts, you set off to Atlanta for a new beginning. You decide to face your fear of skydiving. Your guide? Jung Jaehyun.Â
Multi-part series: Part 1 - Part 2 Preview - More Coming Soon
Part 1
Word Count: 2,931 words
You were preparing for the best day of your life so far. You were marrying the man of your dreams come to life. He was everything to you. He was your reality. He was your escape from the other realities you wish you didnât have to carry with you.
But then.
It all happened so quickly.
You walking down the aisle to the altar. The flashes of cameras. The look on Chanyeolâs face when you lifted your veil and there was no trace of warmth on his face.
There was nothing there.
Youâve never seen him like this before.
It was as if someone who looked a lot like your fiancé was standing in for your fiancé.
Maybe it was the nerves, you told yourself. Maybe he was stunned by how beautiful you looked.
You felt and knew how lovely you looked that day. For the first time, you were truly happy and aware of your beauty.
The priest began, âWe are gathered here today to witness the union of Park Chanyeol and Y/N.â
You smiled at Chanyeol. His gaze shifted away from you and out to the crowd.
What was going on?
The priest continued with the motions and when it came time to recite your vows, Chanyeol was up first.
âWeâll begin with the groom,â the priest said.
âY/N, the brightest star in my galaxy, I-â Chanyeol forced himself but halted.
You froze.
The pews of the grand church fell into silence.
Chanyeol looked into the crowd again. You chose to follow his gaze to see a woman in a cream colored dress that almost dared to be white. Her long black hair and bangs were straight as a pin. She was otherworldly.
She looked pleadingly at Chanyeol, you noticed.
And then she saw that you caught on. And, at long last, she looked guilty.
âChanyeol,â you started.
Chanyeol was caught red handed. But why, you tortured yourself as you wondered. What did he do, you tormented yourself. What could he have done to warrant such a look of shame on his face?
He forced himself to look at you. âY/N, I am so so sorry. I canât do this.â
Everything that followed happened even quicker. Chanyeol running down the aisle. The black haired woman meeting him at the door. Him opening the door for her. Her running out. And him following after her.
Never looking back.
No remorse.
He was gone.
You had your back straight and head held high. The crowd was in chaos. Your mother wailed from her pew. Your father was controlling your wailing infant half-sister. Your closest friends were in different parts of the globe and couldnât make it for your big day, which made you wonder if you had any real friends at all.
Who could you turn to, then?
So you ran. You ran back to the dressing room. Changed into your favorite Shinee tee and most comfortable pair of jeans and a pair of brown cowboy boots.
You didnât shed a tear. Not just yet. You could hear people in the hallway coming to find you but for what? Most of the people at the wedding were here for  Chanyeol, anyway. Your bridal party was Chanyeolâs sister, Yoora and her friends. She was the designated maid of honor. But now everything felt like a lie. An obligation.
âI canât believe that Seulgi,â you heard one of the bridesmaids say.
You heard knocks at the door.
âY/N,â Yoora called out. âAre you alright?â
Was she for real?
You didnât answer.
âY/N. I know youâre in there. I can send the girls away if you want it to just be me.â
Again, you said nothing. You found your bag and debated how you would escape without anyone trying to bullshit a conversation with you. You really had nothing to say to anyone at this place.
You looked at the window hidden behind the elegant curtains and unhooked the latches. You jumped out the window with your bag and ran to the parking lot to get in your Jeep Cherokee. You drove the hell out of there. Not bothering to look back at what you left behind.
Ï
Thank goodness you and Chanyeol hadnât moved in together yet. Otherwise, where could you have gone now?
You recalled how upset you were when he refused to move in with you or you with him. How could you not have noticed his hesitation? What he had to hide?
You sighed. Your phone was ringing nonstop that you put it on silent. You had missed calls from Mom, Yoora, and Mrs. Park. None from Dad.
You checked your texts, only paying attention to your momâs.
Mom: I hope itâs okay. I took your plane tickets and decided to take the trip with Terrence. That piece of shit Chanyeol is paying every cent for this.â
Was that supposed to make you feel better?
You only stared at your motherâs message. You werenât that shocked, truthfully. Your mother was a selfish woman that loved herself more than she loved her own child. She had no grace or delicate touch in all of the years she raised you. Itâs no wonder Dad left her and remarried and in the process, let you become an afterthought. Itâs no wonder you were so gullible when it came to Chanyeol.
You clenched your fists. All Chanyeol had to do was say the right words and he had you. But deep down, you knew it wasnât love he had for you.
You wanted to believe it. So desperately. That you could have a happy ending. After all of the years of shortcomings and heartbreak in your family.
But why play you the way he did? Why go through with any of this?
Chanyeol was a fucking coward. Seulgi had the nerve to look ashamed when she was a show runner for your wedding gone to shit. Â
You went from shock to anger. And then, the sadness came up from underneath it all and you cried. You cried for hours, curled up on your couch in the living room. You played your favorite crying song because any sane person had a crying song. You cried until you couldnât cry anymore.
But it seemed like the tears were endless.
You went up to the rooftop of your apartment building and took refuge in seeing the city lights. The sun was setting. It was your favorite part of the day and you felt some relief from the travesty of this day.
You took some deep breaths and found some of the pain in your chest fading. At least for now.
Your life wasnât over, you told yourself. You had a lot going for you. You were young. Had a successful job as a concert promoter. You could leave Los Angeles. Start over.
And so that was what you did.
Ï
1 month later
You were settled in Atlanta. Burying yourself in work. Monsta X was your client, embarking on their fourth US tour. Everything was going seamlessly. The venues were cooperating with the companyâs demands and specifications. The bandâs schedule wasnât crammed to the brim so the band was happy. The band performed well. Their company performed well. As the middle woman, you were doing well enough to keep your job. Some may say thrive.
You had some time before the band had to travel down to Miami for their promotions and their show. So you could unwind for a bit until then.
Your co-worker Ally joined you for lunch at a small Italian restaurant close to the State Farm arena.
âY/N? I wanted to know if youâd be interested in skydiving,â Ally said.
You coughed. âWhat?â
âI take it you donât like heights?â Ally asked.
You shook your head. âIâm afraid not.â
Ally sighed. âThe thing is I had a session scheduled for tomorrow that I canât go to. Itâs too late to cancel it and I would hate for it to go to waste. I kinda figured you hated heights when you refused to go on the rides at Six Flags so I tried asking everyone. Youâre my last resort.â
Your heart started racing. âI donât know, Ally.â
Ally gave you the ticket anyway. âLook, go or donât go. Maybe you can find someone else whoâll take it off your hands. Just take it. Itâs yours now. Do what you want with it. Sound good?â
You nodded. You put your fingertips against the laminated piece of paper. You read the ticket.
Highway to Heaven and Back: Skydiving Expedition
You raised your eyebrows at it.
You thought about it. One moment you said yes. To try it. Feel something new. Get over one of your greatest fears. Feel something other than the perpetual loneliness and betrayal you felt every day.
The next moment you wanted to hide in your downtown apartment and order Chinese and watch Riverdale. For the fifth time.
You decided to throw caution to the wind and go.
Ï
The skydiving place was located in Upson County, an hour north of your apartment. It was a mini-airport and you could see a couple of small airplanes that were transporting skydivers.
You participated in the training session so you could know everything there was to know about the journey you were going to embark on. The instructor Mr. Davies taught you and the other initiates the doâs and donâts. You learned about the steps to safely skydive. How to put your body in the correct freefall position. What to do in cases of emergencies. Operating the parachute after freefall. How to land. And to actually land.
You were thankful Ally bought the package that included an experienced instructor to be your guide. There was no way you were going to solo skydive. If you had to do it with a stranger, at least it would be with an experienced one. The stranger was paid to keep you alive. Not deterred completely from the experience, you thought you could actually do it.
You put on a red jumpsuit, a harness attached to the parachute, goggles, an altimeter, and a black helmet. Then, you and the other skydivers were partnered up with instructors.
âY/N! Well...if it isnât your lucky day, youâre going up with Jaehyun,â Mr. Davies said as he read out from his clipboard. âGet on over to plane 214! Jaehyunâs waiting for you there.â
You liked the feel of your shoes against the tarmac. You were more fond of the ground than ever, it seemed. You reached plane 214 and a man stepped off the plane with his forest green jumpsuit and skydiving gear. He had Ray-Ban Aviators on. He looked like he was ready for a reboot of Top Gun.
And so were you.
He made Chanyeol look like a before picture.
He smiled, blowing you away with his dimples. His dark brown hair was wavy and swayed gloriously against the wind. He was slender but you can tell he was well-built under his gear. His muscles protruded from the arms of his jumpsuit.Â
Lord.
âY/N?â He asked
âYeah!â Well, that was the most alive you sounded since the rehearsal dinner.
âIâm Jaehyun, your instructor. We are going to get pretty close with each other in the next hour. So look forward to it!â
With a smile and voice like that, how could you not?
He shook your hand and you couldnât explain it. You felt ease. Joy. Hope.
And not like you were about to fly 14,000 feet above the ground.
When he released your hand, those feelings didnât fade. But they werenât as pronounced as when you made physical contact with Jaehyun.
No need to get so excited, you told yourself.
Jaehyun got you up onto the plane and you fastened your seatbelt when you sat down. Jaehyun, much to your delight and nerves. sat across from you. You looked out the window and saw that you were ascending.
Oh my Lord.
You felt like a weight was on your chest. You gulped. You began to sweat profusely. Â You had to catch your breath. Oh God donât panic, please. You donât want to panic. You donât want this. Why canât you do something bold for once? Why do you let yourself feel this way? Stop getting in your own way!
âY/N?â Jaehyun frowned. He was worried. He inched forward and made eye contact with you.
âLook at me,â he said quietly.
âJaehyun, Iâm so sorry. I-I canât do this. I canât.â You sobbed. You couldnât hold it in anymore. The nerves and the self-doubt were all at the forefront of your mind and you didnât know how to make it stop.
âY/N, give me your hands, please.â Jaehyun, while he looked anything less than calm, sounded so serene and sure of himself.
You gave him your hands and he squeezed them. âYou can do this. I am right here with you. Youâre not alone. We are in this together, okay?â
Those words. You would replay them multiple times after that day. He said all of the things youâve longed to hear your whole life.
You sniffled. You wondered how your makeup must look and you shuddered. Well, that was a good sign. You were panicking about something else now.
Speaking of panic, the feeling began to fade. You felt the tranquility you did before when you shook Jaehyunâs hand.
âBreathe,â he said. âIn. Out.â He did the breathing as well as he watched you.
âThank you,â you said.
He smiled. âYouâre not the first person to get like this.â
You continued, âI donât know what comes over me. Iâve never liked heights but I thought maybe today could be the day that I could overcome it. At least confront it. I wanted to try. I do.â
Jaehyun was attentive to your words, your expressions, and everything about you. He could sense the pain youâve endured. It was written in his eyes.
âI think todayâs going to be the day, Y/N. Just wait and see.â
Ï
It was time. Â
Jaehyun opened the exit door and your side bangs got into your eyes. The wind was intense and a little fucking scary. Jaehyun backed up and you got yourself in front of him. You both sat on the floor of the plane. He would be on your back as you guys jumped off.
You looked down. And oh, how you regretted it.
Everything was so small and far away. You felt even smaller.
You felt Jaehyun secure himself behind you. âReady,â he said.
Jaehyunâs presence was calming. Was it enough to ease the fear completely? Hell, no. But the feel of his body against yours gave you the courage to jump.
And you did. Together.
You yelled. Holy shit. This was happening. You felt sorry for Jaehyunâs ears. Your freaking out turned into laughter.
âOh my God!â You yelled.
Jaehyun laughed. âYou got this!â
âI got this!â
Jaehyun cheered. He steered you guys as you descended.
You were flying. The most dreadful part of the experience was gone. The dread of what was to come. You were in the moment. You flailed your arms, thinking you were Peter Pan. You laughed and felt happy tears leave your eyes.
âJaehyun!â You yelled.
âYeah?!â He responded.
âThank you!â He had no idea what he did for you. He went above and beyond and helped you face and even conquer your fear.
âYouâre welcome!â He yelled back.
It was incredible. This had to be one of the best moments of your life. You remembered to give Ally the biggest hug when you saw her on Monday.
Ï
When you landed, you almost wanted to kiss the floor. The nerves never completely went away. Hey, you were human.
Unabashedly, Jaehyun gazed admiringly at you. He was so proud of you and even more overjoyed to see you happy for once.
You felt a surge of newfound confidence in you. Ask him to dinner, you told yourself. As a thank you. And if he wants it to be something more, roll with it. Because thatâs what you really want.
You were about to approach Jaehyun, who was taking off his gear. He had accumulated a crowd of admirers in less than 15 seconds. It was to be expected.
One girl with a midriff and booty shorts was in his breathing space. Another girl had her phone out, taking pictures of him, like he was a pop idol. The rest of the girls just...looked at him. At a loss for words.
Relatable.
Your confidence dimmed a little. Maybe it was for the best that you left. You couldâve come on too strong if you asked him to dinner.
You grabbed your gear and stuffed it into your backpack and made your way back to the training center to return the gear to Mr. Davies.
âY/N!â Jaehyun yelled.
You turned around and Jaehyun was running up to you with his bag.
âLetâs go back together,â he said.
âWonât your fan club be disappointed?â You joked.
Jaehyun shook his head. Was he genuinely confused? âFan club?â
âDonât be so modest,â you said.
âIâm not sure what you mean, Y/N. They were nice but if they want to see me again, it would have to be for a skydiving lesson.â
You blurted, âAnd what if I wanted to see you again? But like on the ground?â
He was shocked at your reply.
You bit the bullet. Â âJaehyun, what time do you get off work?â
His shock faded and he gave you a knowing smile. âYou were my last appointment of the day.â
Part 2 (Coming Soon)

to end up with you

description: david and addie go to a wedding and start thinking about their own future.
a/n: iâve been listening to the album and idk man that song is so cute i just had to.
December 2019
David was in a tuxedo. And it wasnât even for an award show. Addieâs best friend was getting married, and apparently, a wedding in Washington, D.C. in the dead of winter calls for formal wear. But for as much as he hated wearing a tuxedo, he loved to see Addie in a long dress. Tonight she was in green velvet with a cutout in the back and his thumb always seemed to find a way onto her exposed skinâduring the ceremony, at dinner while he talked with her sorority sisters, and now, when she pulled him out onto the dance floor. She couldnât dance, and neither could he really, but they were light-weights. The two glasses of champagne theyâd toasted with were enough to push them to make fools out of themselves and have fun doing it.
Davidâs smile hadnât been quite so bright all night as it was while he watched her jump around on the dance floor with her college friends, carefree and younger than she ever seemed in LA, where she was always concerned with her career. This was Addie in her David State, as she called it. Where all she wanted was to laugh forever. And while David appreciated how her serious side balanced him, he loved to watch her unguarded and carefree moments.
The night was ending and they were with all the other couples on the dance floor, swaying back and forth to the slower songs. The familiar sounds to Taylor Swiftâs Lover began and Addie caught Davidâs eyes, smirking. He playfully rolled his eyes at her and they went back to their comfortable sway. Addie had been playing the album non-stop since August and David knew heâd end up taking her to the show when Taylor came to LA, even if he lied to her about that fact so he could still surprise her with tickets.Â
Anything to see her smile.
âI take this magnetic force of a man to be my loverâŠâ Addie sang to him.
David chuckled but responded in like. âMy heartâs been borrowed and yours has been blue. All's well that ends well to end up with you.â
Eventually, he pulled her away from the dance floor. They sat, and she wrapped herself around him, the chill beginning to set in as she stopped moving. David took off his jacket and slipped it around her shoulders. She wasnât really that cold yet, but she still grabbed the lapels and pulled it tighter to her body, smiling because heâd known that sheâd get cold eventually and because the jacket smelled like him.Â
They were watching the dance floor, or rather, Addie was watching the dance floor and David was looking down at his beautiful girlfriend who was glowing under the twinkling lights set up around the venue.
âYou ever think about our wedding?â David asked, running his thumb up and down Addieâs back once again.
He could feel her breath hitch for a split second before she relaxed into him again. The question took her by surprise. She didnât quite know why. Theyâd moved in together, obviously, she was serious about him.
âA little, yeah. What about you?â
âJust have an image in my head of you laughing and carefree in a white dress. Nothing else seems to matter all too much. Have anything specific in mind?â He placed a light kiss on her shoulder.
âAll I really want is a chuppah with ocean views and you breaking the glass and laughing like a little kid.â
âYouâd let me break the glass even though Iâm not Jewish?â Addie could hear the excitement in his voice.
She turned and looked at him. âCourse. Destroying something? Sâright up your alley. Besides, wouldnât be a Davis family wedding without the groom obnoxiously breaking the glass. And if I can count on you for anything, itâs dramatics.â
David chuckled, imagining how heâd probably jump onto the glass with both feet instead of just picking up one foot to smash the glass like everyone else. She was right. She knew him too well.
âAny thoughts on when, gorgeous?â he asked her.
âWell, ocean views so, late spring, early summer?â She was trying to keep the conversation light-hearted, but sheâd had enough serious conversations with David to know when he was trying to talk about their future. She just didnât expect the first time theyâd talk about getting married to be at her friendâs wedding, surrounded by other people.
âNot what I meant,â he said softly.Â
Addie cocked her head to the side a little bit as she thought about how to respond. âNot sure, love.âÂ
It was an honest answer. Sheâd never really thought about marrying David. But at that moment, looking into his brown eyes, she wasn't sure why. She couldnât imagine her life without David in it. That had to mean theyâd get married at some point. âWeâre still young. Maybe a year or two or three? Why, you looking to change our flights and have a layover in Vegas?â
He rolled his eyes at her teasing, but his lips tugged at the corners and Addie knew heâd thought it was funny.
âJust curious, sâall.â His eyes softened and he gave her a sweet smile that sheâd never seen him give anyone else. She thought it was his helplessly in love smile.
He stood and held out his hand. âCâmon, weâve got an early morning tomorrow, letâs head back to the hotel.â

zoney marriage au
whaddya mean theyâre already married. emily and i have discussed this at length so i present to you an essay.Â
proposal.Â
it was kind of a mess? because zar had been planning out the perfect night to pop the question for a little while. itâs while zar is still in vet school in davis, has about a year left, and heâs like well, there really is no better time. so he plans out a great night where they go out to dinner and then go to some makeout point type place to sit on the hood of their car and look out at the stars and the city below. and just when zar is playing with the box in his coat pocket, about to start the little speech he had prepared, honeyâs like âhey⊠thereâs something iâve meant to ask for a while, and now seems like the perfect time.âÂ
surprise!!!! honey bought a ring like three months ago and has been waiting for the perfect moment to ask zar to marry him this whole time!!!!Â
as soon as honey takes that damn box out zar is fucking crying and takes his out and is like shut up i put this night together!!!! he lets honey go first, though, because he says he has a speech prepared. he did, but he kind of throws it out the window and basically just tells zar how much he means to him and how he believed in him even when he didnât and that he loves him so much and then honey is crying, and zar is crying, and zar doesnât even get to give his own little proposal until after theyâve fucked in the back of the car.Â
wedding.Â
so we been knew honey is a Big Olâ Romantic, and he has been highkey planning this wedding since he and zar started dating okay????? he has a notebook full of ideas and printouts and i love to imagine him slamming it down at the beginning of every meeting with their caterer/venue/florist/whatever. zar lets honey take charge during those meetings, and he does, going through exactly what he does and does not want and occasionally turning to zar with a sweet smile and going âwhich one, baby? the blue or the teal?â zar really only intervenes when honey and whoever theyâre trying to hire are arguing and he has to calm honey down because he just said, âi will end your shit, anthony.â
first of all, everyone at veritas is invited, so jot that down. (yes, even holden. unless heâs the killer.) i mean otto probably isnât but. thereâs Reasons. zola is zarâs best woman, easily. they have a whole ass argument about whose side of the aisle kiki will be on (honey wins). they also have a whole ass argument about whether or not theyâre going to be ros-kennedy or kennedy-ros (honey also wins).Â
the wedding is at a national park, all outdoors, so the animals can come. (ripley is dead at this point but sheâs watching from dog heaven itâs fine.) nugget is the ringbearer and thats that. honey has to read his vows first because they both know heâs gonna cry like a baby through zarâs. also honey kisses zar halfway through the ceremony bc he canât help it and everyone is like â!!!!!!!â. but itâs fine itâs very cute. literally everyone expects honey to be a total bridezilla the day of (especially poor anthony) but both he and zar are just so happy the entire goddamned time itâs like... they donât even care. itâs the happiest day of their lives :â).Â
their honeymoon is in hawaii. they donât leave their hotel.Â
married life.Â
well they were already basically married, but by the time their proposal happens both of them know what they want to do with their lives. zar is finishing up his vet school, and honey has just started his second bachelorâs degree in social work. honey floated from job to job for a while, until he was working for a boyâs and girlâs club and he realized how much he actually wanted to help these kids. zar does his residency while honey does his degree. (honestly, before this point, the only thing zar and honey really fought about was the fact that honey didnât have any life plans outside of being with zar, so the fact that honey is so passionate about social work is actually a massive relief for both of them.)
honey gets a job as a case worker in salem, oregon, and since zar wants nothing more than to support honeyâs passions now that he has them, they uproot and move from davis to salem and buy a beautiful house, as dr. and mr. kennedy-ros.Â
both of them have pretty high-stress jobs that theyâre intensely passionate about, so naturally theyâre both workaholics. thatâs okay, though; while they both love their work, they love each other and the animals just as much. theyâre major homebodies, can usually be found on the couch on weekends. while the oâmalleys arenât as powerful with honeyâs father in prison, zar still worries about honeyâs safety constantly, and doesnât like to be out of his sight if he can help it.Â
also???????? zoney in suburbia is a trip. they are both extremely affectionate and quite smartass-y, and you either love them or hate them. even though theyâll probably never have kids of their own (their parents fucked them up so terribly as children, theyâre terrified of doing the same to their kids), honey in particular is great with kids and theyâre usually the couple their neighbors call to babysit. i also like to imagine zar teaching one of the girls he used to babysit how to defend herself, and then he becomes the unofficial self-defense teacher for the neighborhoodâs teenagers.Â
theyâre also the source of much gossip, especially after the little brunch incident where the restaurant was being robbed by an armed man and zar was able to take him down and toss the gun to honey to be disarmed. all theyâll say is that zar did muay thai in high school and honey spent some time with the us marshals, but thereâs clearly more to the story. some people think theyâre involved with the mob, but anyone who meets them can tell they are kind and genuine people.Â
(there is one close call, though, when honey was working late and a man came to their neighbors door with a picture of him, at age eighteen, asking if sheâd ever seen this man before. she thought of these two sweet men who her kids loved so much, and their no-doubt sketchy past, and said not once in her life, and as soon as he was gone, called honey, and then zar. it was zar that drove down to the house, thanked her profusely and stayed with her until they decided the coast was clear, until honey could come home. she has the distinct feeling, as she watches their tearful reunion from her driveway, that she just saved their lives.)Â
they live a calm life together, and they canât ask for anything more.Â
#ask memes; zar#ft. honey#i'm putting this under a cut bc this ended up. Longe#like it's a fucking essay#also emily you have full permission to amend jfdksfjadskjdsa

St. Petersburg, FL
I love the Saturday morning in St. Petersburg, FL, from October to May. You will enjoy the fresh and organic vegetables and fruits. You can also have local arts and crafts which you will find very beautiful. You will also enjoy the street performers and live music. If you like to socialize, you will do great things with more than 10, 000 people also watching over. You can also have some good times at the outdoor venue. There are lovely spots that have a capacity of more than 2 000 people. However, I am not sure if the pier is now open after it was closed for improvement.
13-Year-Old St. Pete Boy Charged With Murder Of Grandmother
ST. PETERSBURG, FL â St. Peterburg Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy and charged him with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of his grandmother Monday morning.
St. Petersburg Police responded to call of a woman in need of assistance at 634 60th Ave. S. just after 3:30 a.m. Monday.
When officers arrived, they discovered Gloria Davis, 56, dead from multiple stab wounds. Read more here.
Upon reading the title of the article that a 13- year old boy is charged with murder for killing his grandmother, I felt very sad. This boy stabbed his grandmother that causes her death. The victim is Gloria Davis, who was 56 years old, who was found dead in her home in 60th Avenue Street in St. Petersburg. It is very devastating to note that a grandson can do it to his grandmother. She is taking care of him, but how come would he kill her. From the report, it was not clear what the motive was. So, where does this kid learn to stab a person? It could be from violent games. Kids need guidance from their parents. It is not something to ignore.
Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, FL
The Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, FL, is a lovely one. It has more than 50 000 tropical plants and flowers to enjoy. You can also see some cactus, royal palms, Japanese garden, fruit trees, water lilies, butterfly garden, and even flock of Flamingos. My favorite spots in Sunken Gardens are wedding lawn, koi ponds, beautiful gardens, and tropical birds. It is very calming and gorgeous to look at. I even enjoy watching the birds in the cage, the snapping turtles, and the tortoises. I love stopping by here every time I pass by because I believe that this place is a fantastic gem.
I like Cindy's Florida LLC because of the excellent service that you can get from them to form your Limited Liability Company (LLC). You know it is worthy of forming LLC when you know that it is formed correctly. Florida companies are advantageous because you can form an Anonymous LLC. There are strategies on how to do it, and Cindy's Florida LCC is the best to go to for help. Another advantage is that everything is done online, there is a fast filing time, and there is no need for you to visit Florida at all nor visit the USA. The LLCs are taxable both as S or C-Corps.

Since I Chose To Stay: The Second Edition
On September 7, 2017 I wrote a blog titled âSince I Chose To Stayâ. It was a post about everything that I got to experience because I chose to stay alive. That post opened up numerous conversations with people I never realized also struggled with their mental health.Â
Now, almost two years later, I want to revisit the idea of that blog.Â
Itâs been about 3 years since I last attempted suicide.Â
Hereâs a look into the life Iâve lived since I last set down the knife and decided to stay.
Since I chose to stay, I graduated Parks Law Enforcement Academy. I learned that I am able to persevere in a lot of really challenging situations. I gained three great friends that I still keep in contact with and love dearly. I pushed myself and became healthier physically. I learned how to drive an emergency vehicle and am still insanely prideful in that.
I also learned self-care. For me, it was going to the movie theater alone every Tuesday for $5. I love going to the movies alone.
I learned that when people love and believe in you, they will push you because they see you for who you are.
Since I chose to stay, I accepted a job in Minneapolis, Minnesota as an outdoor supervision attendant. My job consisted of hanging out with kids, informing park visitors of the rules, and shutting off the lights on the kickball crews at 10pm sharp. I met the greatest kids and read way too many books. I learned that I love hearing the distant groans of angry, drunk kickball teams when I hit the lights off, but hey, I wasnât getting paid past 10, and I was ready to go home so can you blame me? I learned that I am good at talking to random strangers and making connections. I also learned that I donât love the Midwest.
During my time in Minneapolis, I lived with three guys. I love them all, but I will never live with three college-aged boys again. I got to experience random house shows and the creepiest venue ever- The Paper House. I figured out I love being alone sometimes. I watched all of The Handmaidâs Tale, Parks and Rec, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.Â
I also got to visit Chicago for a house show in the backyard of one of my favorite bandâs house. I fell in love with Chicago and I want to go back.
Overall though, I learned PBR is better on tap and Sportyâs will always feel like home.
Since I chose to stay, I moved back to Seattle for a job as a crew member at EarthCorps, an environmental restoration non-profit.Â
Iâm currently doing this and I love it.
So far, I have learned that I am passionate about helping in a lot of ways. Iâve learned Iâm good at talking to people and asking dumb questions. Iâve learned a lot of people think Iâd be decent at stand-up and my crew is the most awkward people when it comes to group pictures. I learned Iâm pretty good at digging holes and need a lot of improvement at plant identification. Iâve made friends and become known as a Jonas Brothers fan, which I will proudly accept. I learned that leading a group of children for volunteer events is way more exhausting than planting trees or removing invasive species could ever be.Â
I learned that I hate Himalayan Blackberry and the thorns will scratch your tattoos even if you try to prevent it. I learned that pulling ivy sucks but when itâs in a mud pit it may actually be the funnest thing you can do at work.
I learned that making up Buzzfeed quizzes will pass the time like nothing else. If youâre wondering, my Disney princess is Bell from Beauty and the Beast and the Avenger who would take me on a date is Captain America.
I learned that my crew has my back and wonât stop fighting for me when I need it.Â
Since I chose to stay, I recorded and released three songs under the name Rookie Ranger. These songs were so personal and to release them was a huge win for me.Â
âMidwest Feelingsâ is a song about my mental illness battles while living in Minneapolis. âIâm Aliveâ is about anxiety. Itâs funny because I actually wanted that song to sound all over the place to try and mimic the feelings of anxiety but it ended up being my favorite one. âWhoâs To Blame?â was written about a certain moment in my life that has caused me a lot of pain.
Having my friend Ryan Davis record and produce this EP, Monday Night Kickball, will forever be one of my favorite memories.Â
After it released, I got to play two shows in my hometown and found I love playing live. Purple Haze Vape Shop in Nacogdoches, Texas will always be home to my first show as Rookie Ranger.
Since I chose to stay, Iâve gotten to be a part of two of my dear friendâs weddings. I learned I still hate dresses, but I would do anything for my friendâs. i learned I will always have a farmerâs tan so now, I just own it.Â
I learned that I will sob at any wedding because seeing my friendâs marry the love of their life is a beautiful thing.Â
Since I chose to stay, I ended up working at Starbucks and actually loved it.Â
Since I chose to stay, I got to see Aly and AJ live again and yes, I did cry like a baby.
Since I chose to stay, I attended HeartSupportâs first ever gala and rocked a bolo tie .
Since I chose to stay, I am starting to figure myself out.
Since I chose to stay, I saw Paramore twice on their After Laughter tour.
Since I chose to stay, I got to vote for change in Texas.
Since I chose to stay, I saw Chelsea Peretti live and cried from laughing so hard.
Since I chose to stay, I got to see my niece turn five.
Since I chose to stay, I got to see the Astros beat the Mariners and be told to leave Seattle.. Go âStros!
Since I chose to stay, I get to attend trivia every Tuesday at the best tap-house in Seattle.
Since I chose to stay, I got to get my tattoo dedicated to New Girl, the greatest TV show there ever was.
Since I chose to stay, I get to backpack the Ozette Loop with my crew on July 27th.
Since I chose to stay, I am now only on two pills a day and am actively working to find a therapist.
Since I chose to stay, I can ask the hard questions and advocate for mental health.
Since I chose to stay, I get to take everyday one day at a time.
Since I chose to stay, I can live.
Why did you stay?

Thanks to Birdlife SA and their partners. Literally one of the best birding experiences of my life! Words cannot do justice to the feeling of watching tons of of seabirds glide effortlessly across the boat, dwelling out their days in a half of the world most humans will never have the privilege to take pleasure Dr Greg Hough News in. Life time experience of been in a place to go distant south African water and been in a place to see most of deep sea and island birdâs. Never to overlook voyage of the life time. Absolutely great, attention-grabbing and thrilling.
Although London clearly thought that there would be adequate funds from that supply,146 Holland soon complained about his salary. That gave rise to barely acrimonious correspondence between himself and the Governor and to repercussions between the latter and London. A British Vice-Admiralty Court operated on the Cape of Good Hope from 1797 till 1803. It decided both Prize causes and Instance causes.
We couldn't have requested for a greater way to show the delegates how efficient the supplies are that they have been making. The next morning we had to depart house at 06h30 so as to journey the 15-odd kilometres to our next workshop in a Community Centre in a township or "compound" known as Mandevu. The workshop solely started at 08h30, however we found that the visitors Dr Greg Hough News in Lusaka is something not to be taken lightly! We were very grateful that our host, Frances Davies , who had coordinated all our workshops for us, was obtainable to drive us to each of the venues, as we might still be sitting at the first intersection! At the traffic circles you give right of way to the one that pushes within the quickest, and visitors jams of an hour or moreare widespread.

Hazel Scott
Hazel Dorothy Scott (June 11, 1920 â October 2, 1981) was a Trinidadian-born jazz and classical pianist and singer; she also performed as herself in several films.
Born in Port of Spain, Hazel was taken at the age of four by her mother to New York. Recognized early as a musical prodigy, Scott was given scholarships from the age of eight to study at the Juilliard School. She began performing in a jazz band in her teens and was performing on radio at age 16.
She was prominent as a jazz singer throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In 1950, she became the first woman of color to have her own TV show, The Hazel Scott Show, featuring a variety of entertainment. Her career in America faltered after a scandalous affair with the married preacher and politician Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., and after she testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee during the McCarthy era. Scott subsequently moved to Paris in the late 1950s and performed in France, not returning to the United States until 1967.
Early years and education
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on June 11, 1920, Hazel Dorothy Scott was the only child of R. Thomas Scott, a West African scholar from Liverpool, England and Alma Long Scott, a classically trained pianist and music teacher. The family moved to New York City when Hazel was four. Recognized as a child musical prodigy, the young Scott was awarded scholarships to study classical piano at the Juilliard School from the age of eight. As a teenager, she performed piano and trumpet with her mother's "Alma Long Scott" all-girl jazz band, which sometimes featured Lil Hardin Armstrong.
Music career
By the age of 16, Hazel Scott regularly performed for radio programs for the Mutual Broadcasting System, gaining a reputation as the "hot classicist". In the mid-1930s, she also performed at the Roseland Dance Hall with the Count Basie Orchestra. Her early musical theatre appearances in New York included the Cotton Club Revue of 1938, Sing Out the News and The Priorities of 1942.
Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, Scott performed jazz, blues, ballads, popular (Broadway songs and boogie-woogie) and classical music in various nightclubs. From 1939 to 1943 she was a leading attraction at both the downtown and uptown branches of Café Society. Her performances created national prestige for the practice of "swinging the classics". By 1945, Scott was earning $75,000 ($985,813 today) a year.
In addition to Lena Horne, Scott was one of the first Afro-Caribbean women to garner respectable roles in major Hollywood pictures. She performed as herself in several features, notably I Dood It (MGM 1943), Broadway Rhythm (MGM 1944), with Lena Horne and in the otherwise all-white cast The Heat's On (Columbia 1943), Something to Shout About (Columbia 1943), and Rhapsody in Blue(Warner Bros 1945). In the 1940s, in addition to her film appearances, Scott was featured in Café Society's From Bach to Boogie-Woogie concerts in 1941 and 1943 at Carnegie Hall.
She was the first Afro-Caribbean to have her own television show, The Hazel Scott Show, which premiered on the DuMont Television Network on July 3, 1950. Variety reported that "Hazel Scott has a neat little show in this modest package", its "most engaging element" being Scott herself.
Blacklisting
Scott had long been committed to civil rights, particularly in Hollywood. She refused to take roles in Hollywood that cast her as a "singing maid". When she began performing in Hollywood films, she insisted on having final-cut privileges when it came to her appearance. In addition, she required control over her own wardrobe so that she could wear her own clothing if she felt that the studio's choices were unacceptable. Her final break with Columbia Pictures' Harry Cohn involved "a costume which she felt stereotyped blacks". Scott also refused to perform in segregated venues when she was on tour. She was once escorted from the city of Austin, Texas by Texas Rangers because she refused to perform when she discovered that black and white patrons were seated in separate areas. "Why would anyone come to hear me, a Negro," she told Time Magazine, "and refuse to sit beside someone just like me?"
In 1949, Scott brought a suit against the owners of a Pasco, Washington restaurant when a waitress refused to serve Scott and her traveling companion, Mrs. Eunice Wolfe, because "they were Negroes." Scott's victory helped African Americans challenge racial discrimination in Spokane, as well as inspiring civil rights organizations "to pressure the Washington state legislature to enact the Public Accommodations Act" in 1953.
With the advent of the Red Scare in the television industry, Scott's name appeared in Red Channels: A Report on Communist Influence in Radio and Television in June 1950. Scott voluntarily appeared before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). Scott insisted on reading a prepared statement before HUAC. She denied that she was "ever knowingly connected with the Communist Party or any of its front organizations, but said that she had supported Communist Party member Benjamin J. Davis' run for City Council, arguing that Davis was supported by socialists, a group that "has hated Communists longer and more fiercely than any other."
Her television variety program, The Hazel Scott Show, was cancelled a week after Scott appeared before HUAC, on September 29, 1950. Scott continued to perform in the United States and Europe, even getting sporadic bookings on television variety shows likeCavalcade of Stars and guest starring in an episode of CBS Television's Faye Emerson's Wonderful Town musical series. Scott's short-lived television show "provided a glimmer of hope for African American viewers" during a time of continued racial bias in the broadcasting industry and economic hardships for jazz musicians in general. Scott remained publicly opposed to McCarthyism and racial segregation throughout her career.
To evade political fallout in the United States, Scott moved to Paris in the late 1950s. She appeared in the French film Le Désordre et la Nuit (1958). She maintained a steady but difficult career in France and touring throughout Europe. She did not return to the US until 1967. By this time the Civil Rights Movement had led to federal legislation ending racial segregation and enforcing the protection of voting rights of all citizens in addition to other social advances.
Scott continued to play occasionally in nightclubs, while also appearing in daytime television until the year of her death. She made her television acting debut in 1973, on the ABC daytime soap opera One Life to Live, performing a wedding song at the nuptials of her "onscreen cousin", Carla Gray Hall, portrayed by Ellen Holly.
Marriage
In 1945, Scott, who was a Catholic, married Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., a Baptist minister and U.S. Congressman, in Connecticut. They had one child, Adam Clayton Powell III, but divorced in 1960 after a separation. Their relationship provoked controversy, as Powell was married when their affair began.
On January 19, 1961, she married Ezio Bedin, a Swiss-born comedian.
Death
On October 2, 1981, Hazel Scott died of cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. She was 61 years old, and survived by her son Adam Clayton Powell III. She was buried at Flushing Cemetery in Queens, New York, near other musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Johnny Hodges, and Dizzy Gillespie (who died in 1993).
Legacy
Scott was best-known internationally as a performer of jazz. She was also accomplished in politics, leading the way for African Americans in entertainment and film; and was successful in dramatic acting and classical music. Scott recorded as the leader of various groups for Decca, Columbia and Signature, among them, a trio that consisted of Bill English and the double bass player Martin Rivera, and another featuring Charles Mingus on bass and Rudie Nichols on drums. Her album Relaxed Piano Moods on the Debut Record label, with Mingus and Max Roach, is generally her work most highly regarded by critics today. She was noted for her swinging style, performing at the Milford Plaza Hotel in her last months.
