finally completed a request from viktor and got access to his lab and the slimeulation~~
idk which of the mini-games I'm best at especially cause I'm doing them all very slowly.
Ogdun's I tried and panicked cause the feral slimes everywhere
Mochi's is fun and I get lost trying to find the teleporter back....
viktor's is also fun sort of except when the tarr show up~~~ is the exit point that opens the one closest to you?
>_<
I'm doing them slowly and usually unfortunately get around 20 usually of what was asked....
I tried Ogdun's and only got 1 fruit~~~
I don't want to cause it would hurt the slimes, but they're fereal there so it doesn't matter, does it? creating tarr on purpose just to hopefully make it easier?
I panic in the wilds so easily...
also had mossaic plorts be 120 but going down so I bulk sold them... and can now hold 100 of an item~~~
idk if I should go for the final ranks of the 7Zee club thing, tho if I do I need to wait for prices to go back up cause I'm sure they've tanked cause I saw the arrow going down on my most expensive plorts and tanked the market~~~
I hope those prices will raise that high again soon~~~
Or go for treasure pods?
what would it get me to sell all of the saber plorts I have? Is sticking them into the refinery worth it? or is it useless for them?
I've got 3 full silo slots of saber plorts~~
I don't find an ornament this entire game and my sibling starts slime rancher also on switch and they find 2 from a box T_T;;
how do you find more ornaments?
which area should I scour for treasure pods first? I haven't actively been looking just coming upon ones that I couldn't open~~~
I've now got all the treasure pod crackers~~~
fully upgraded, baby~~~~
do you lose everything if you fall into the slime sea? really tempted to vacpack up as many chickens as I can and jump in. free ranging chickens on the ranch is a bad idea, don't do it. game is very laggy... what do......
all my silos are going towards plorts~~~
how do you shoot fire slimes into the incinerator's ash trough without them bouncing out? I had 4 and now I only have 2... rip fire slimes T_T;;

Fighting Fire (Series)
Chapter Six
Word Count: 6,409
Summary: Stevie and Sam never seemed to be what people refer to as "two peas in a pod" growing up. He got under her skin more times than she could count and Sam was desperate to be on a level playing field as his older brother and Stevie's best friend, Jake. One summer, Sam is forced to face his demons and in turn, Stevie is too.
Warnings: mentions of alcohol use
This story is written and edited by me and it is my baby so I hope some people out there can enjoy it as much as I enjoy creating it! If there are typos, bear with me lol
Chapter Six Playlist for the vibes!
Tumblr media
Over the last few days, Stevie and Sam had been taking their time with the cleaning process of the house. The two of them have finished her dad's room and the study upstairs while working on smaller areas too. Most of the upstairs was now just riddled with bags of clothes and boxes of items they were planning to either give away or sell at a yard sale. They have definitely been making progress with the sorting, but today, Sam decided that they have been working enough and now it was time to have fun.
"Let's go swimming today," Sam said at breakfast and Stevie looked up at him from her mug of coffee. She nodded and smiled, wiping her mouth on a napkin.
"Yeah," she said, "I could use some fun."
"The upstairs is almost completely done," Sam smiled, "I think we've deserved this."
"You're right," She said, "This is just as much about cleaning this place up as it is about having fun!"
Ever since their night at the bar, Sam and Stevie have not argued, at least not seriously. This past week, they've actually been coexisting like normal humans. It was strange, but Stevie was surprised by how pleasant it was to spend time with him. No fighting. No drama. Sam was very careful with everything. He always asked her about her dad's things before doing anything with them and he always made sure to do check ins to make sure she could handle what they were going through.
It was fun. He was weird and quirky when he wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't. Sometimes, Stevie would reflect on these days with him and feel guilty for how they treated him growing up. She felt bad about the way she has always been so quick to judge him and write him off. She was walking a fine line between trusting him, ignoring the chance to be at one another's throats again and keeping him at an arm's distance. It had still only been about two weeks that they've been there, so she didn't want to be too sure of him.
"I have therapy this morning," Sam said, interrupting her thoughts, "But after that we can hit the dock for sure."
"Oh! Is this your first session?" Stevie asked and Sam nodded, "Yeah, I'm a little nervous about it."
"It's hard," Stevie admitted, "But just remember that it's for you. Talk about anything that is pressing you."
Sam nodded, checking the clock, "Oop! I should actually go get ready for that."
He grabbed his dishes and took them into the kitchen and Stevie watched him as he carefully washed them and set them aside on the drying rack. When he turned around to head up the stairs, she called after him, "Good luck!"
He turned around and smiled before excusing himself and Stevie looked around the house, wondering what she could do in the meantime. She looked over into the living room and saw Rosie laying on her back on the couch and she laughed.
"Wanna go on a walk, girl?" Stevie said and Rosie looked up, flipping herself around and wagging her tail.
Stevie smiled and took her mug to the sink, grabbing Rosie's leash and harness from where Sam has been keeping it. Rosie jumped off of the couch and wagged her tail as she made rounds around Stevie's legs. She got the harness on Rosie and they left the house, going on a walk for a bit while waiting for Sam to be done.
After they walked around the neighborhood of other vacation homes and Rosie got in enough of her desired sniffs, Stevie had only killed about fifteen minutes so she pulled her hair up into a bun and decided to head out back to the backyard and investigate the pool situation.
They always kept the pool covered up when they weren't home, but since she hadn't been there for so long, she was a little nervous about the kind of maintenance it would need to be back up and running. She cranked the cover off and was happy to find that the color of the pool still looked normal. So, she went ahead and fished out all of the questionable floating debris and dug out the vacuum from the pool shed, hooking it up and letting it get to work.
Stevie then spent the rest of her time waiting for Sam by testing the pool water and cleaning the filter. When he was done with his therapy session, he came downstairs to check on her and stopped in his tracks when he saw her out of the backdoor, working on cleaning the pool filter. He laughed and made his way outside.
"Hey," Sam approached her and she didn't bother looking up when she muttered a response.
"How's the pool?" Sam asked and she smiled, finishing her job and looked up at him, "It's great! Once it's cleaned, it'll be ready for swimming!"
She shielded her eyes from the sun with her hands and gave him a toothy smile, "How was therapy?"
"Fucking weird," Sam chuckled, "But, I guess it was fine."
Stevie nodded, "Yeah, you'll probably get more comfortable after a few weeks! Did you want to hit the lake or wait for the pool?"
Sam shoved his hands in his pockets and rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, "I was thinking we could take the boat out! Maybe pack a lunch or something, what do ya think?"
Stevie hissed, trying to rack her brain about whether or not the boat needed work before it went out in the water again, "Hmm. I don't know if we can hook it up to my car, actually. My car isn't really built to tow boats."
Sam laughed and nodded, "Yeah, that's true. Do you still have those canoes? We could use those!"
Stevie nodded, "Oh yeah, they're in the garage hanging up!"
"Great!" Sam clapped his hands together excitedly, "I'll investigate the garage and you pack the food!"
Stevie stood up, replacing the pool filter before she walked back over to him, "Sounds like a plan! Let's go!"
They went on their separate quests and Stevie packed sandwiches, fruit, protein bars and a separate cooler for drinks. Sam found the canoes, retrieving them from the wall and loading them onto the front deck before meeting Stevie back inside. She was just finishing up zipping the coolers and he sighed, "I'll have to take Rosie out for a walk before we go."
"Oh I did that while you were in your session," Stevie said, "I'm not sure how often you need to walk her."
Sam gasped, looking at Stevie and back at his dog, "Rosie! Did you get a walk from Steve? Were you nice to her, hm?"
Rosie ran up to him, jumping up out of excitement and he pet her aggressively.
"She was very nice," Stevie laughed, "We had fun! Honestly, I might need to own a dog of my own!"
"Oh good, I'm glad! They make lovely companions," Sam chuckled, "Come on girl, ya can't come with us. Maybe next time!"
He led her to her kennel and after locking her in, Sam tossed her a treat.
Sam took the food cooler while Stevie took the drink cooler and the two of them left the house, both carrying a canoe and an oar with them down to the dock. Sam let Stevie get into her canoe first, assisting her into it and giving her a good push out into the water. She roared in a fit of laughter but she didn't paddle, waiting for him to join her on the water. Once they were both situated in their canoes, they began to paddle farther out, racing one another and dramatically trying to paddle faster than the other.
Once they got far enough out into the lake, Sam stopped paddling and Stevie worked to get closer to him before she stopped too, allowing the two of them to just float near each other.
"This is the life!" Sam exclaimed and she smiled, "I haven't done this since I was like a junior in high school or something."
"Man," Sam sighed, "I'd do this every day if I could!"
"Well you can as long as you want while we're here! Who knows how much use these things are gonna get anytime soon," Stevie laughed and Sam looked over at her as she watched the water lap against her boat.
"You pretty much have your own vacation house now, Stevie," Sam said, "You should soak that up as much as possible regardless of if you have company."
Stevie sighed, closing her eyes and enjoying the sun, "It's a little harder to do things by myself."
"Well, it's the perfect time to start," Sam said, "Might be freeing."
She looked at him and saw him with his eyes closed too, face towards the sun and she smiled. It was always surprising when he would call her out, but in a way that was actually careful and helping her in some sort of way.
"Mmm," Stevie hummed, "Maybe."
Sam pointed out in front of him, "I mean look at that view! It's beautiful! Could definitely be some inspiration for your writing, ya know?"
Stevie looked out at the horizon and she let her mind wander for a second, studying the hills in the distance and the birds flying. She nodded, but kept it at that, not wanting to dig in deeper to the writing stuff.
"Could be," Stevie sighed, "I'm not sure if I'll keep the house."
Sam shot her a look of shock, "What? What are you talking about?"
"It'll be kind of expensive to keep up with an entire lake house, don't ya think?" Stevie frowned, "Besides it is a ginormous place just to have to myself."
Sam shook his head and scoffed, "You have to keep it Stevie! This was your dad's favorite place in the entire world! I don't think he'd want to see it go to some stranger or something."
"Yeah, I'm aware of that Sam," Stevie groaned, "But it's not realistic for an almost twenty-seven year old to have this big ass lake house and no one to share it with."
Sam frowned and nodded, "I get it. I really do, but I don't think you should let it go. Even if you do sell it, sell it to me."
Stevie looked at him with wide eyes and started laughing, "You? And why would you even want it?"
"If you're not keeping it for yourself," Sam said, "Then I'm keeping it from randoms. It should always be in your family, Stevie. That's the way Nate would of wanted it and that's the way it'll be."
Stevie chuckled and nodded, "Okay, well if I decide to sell it, you'll be the first to know, Sam."
Her voice was just a hint sarcastic but Sam was serious about buying it from her. He thought she was crazy even to consider getting rid of it. Not only because of how beautiful it was, but because of all of the memories attached to it too. Maybe that was selfish, but he didn't care. They grew up in this lake house. He was not ready to say goodbye to it forever, even if Stevie was.
She looked over at Sam again thinking about how passionate he sounded when he talked about the house and she reached her oar to his boat, pulling their boats closer together. She took a rope out of her bag and tied their oars together and Sam looked at her, confused.
"What are you doing?" he asked and she raised her eyebrows, "Um, tying our oars together so we can have lunch, duh."
"Oh yes," Sam nodded sarcastically, "Can't believe I didn't get there myself."
"Would you rather I throw you a beer and risk it falling into the water, Sam?"
"No, no," Sam held his hands up in defense, "I am not judging you. Wouldn't want to float away."
He dug around in the small food cooler and handed a sandwich and the Tupperware of fruit to her, "Here you are, my dear."
Woah. 'My dear'?  Stevie's breath caught in her throat but she reached out for the items, staring at him hesitantly.
"You good?" Sam asked and she shook her head, "Yeah, yeah. I'm good. You want a shandy? There's water in here too."
"Get me a shandy," Sam winked and Stevie rolled her eyes, "Please?"
"Ugh, please."
She smiled and grabbed two beers out of the drink cooler and handed him one. Sam opened his can and held it up to her, "Cheers!"
She laughed and cheered her can with his and the two of them relaxed in their canoes, eating their sandwiches and drinking their beers. When they were done, they cleaned up their trash, tucking it back into the coolers and their oars remained tied together. Sam grabbed them and began obnoxiously rocking them back and forth. Stevie was losing her balance and water was rushing into her canoe.
"Sam!" She shouted, "What the hell are you doing?"
"I'm having some fun," he shouted back, "You look like you could use a dip."
Her eyes widened and Sam bumped into her boat harder, causing it to tip over and she was plummeted into the water, along with the drink cooler. She gasped when she came up for air and she hit her head on the canoe.
"I am going to kill you!" Stevie screeched and Sam laughed loudly at her muffled voice coming from under the canoe. She swam out from under it, flipping the canoe back over and fishing the cooler out of the water and throwing it back into the canoe.
Water then hit her in the face when Sam jumped into the lake next. She sighed after spitting it out of her mouth. She swam over to where he was and when he came back up for air, she immediately grabbed his head, shoving him back down. Sam's arms found themselves wrapped around Stevie, pulling her back into the water with him. They found both of their bodies wrapped around each other when they came back up to the surface. Stevie immediately roared with laughter.
"Two can play this game," she chuckled and Sam shook his hair, whipping her in face lightly and he laughed too, still hanging onto her.
"Well played," he said and for a moment, Stevie just looked at him. Her eyes were searching his face and for a moment, Sam almost could see her eyes flick to his lips. His breath was shaky as he licked them, secretly anticipating she could somehow lean into him.
After a second, Stevie realized the position they were in with her legs wrapped around his torso and her hands on his shoulders while Sam's hands were resting on her back. Part of her wanted to stay, but she knew she couldn't, for her own well being, let this moment be anything more than playful. So, she let go of him and kicked herself away.
Sam immediately felt the cold water replace Stevie's body around him and he grimaced at the loss of contact, but he let her go, not wanting to do anything about it now. To tell you the truth, Sam has never felt more himself than these last couple of weeks with Stevie and maybe it had something to do with how in love with her he has been since he was younger, but it was really just everything about her. It was the way Stevie pretended to be shy, even though he knew she was far from it. She was so oblivious to how strong, smart and capable she was. Sometimes it was infuriating to hear the way she could sound so helpless, thinking she needed other people to be okay. Mostly thinking she needed Jake to be okay.
However, in Sam's eyes, Stevie didn't actually need  anyone. She could have anyone, but at the end of the day, she didn't need them. It was hard to convince her otherwise and to see her retaliate that sentiment. She didn't see how much she truly had been through and overcome all on her own and Sam wanted nothing more than to prove that to her. Even more than he wanted to finally kiss her.
Stevie laid on her back, floating along in the lake, trying to calm herself down. It scared her the way she was recklessly letting herself fall into him. The warning that Jake gave her about Sam taking advantage of her kindness would cross her mind from time to time, but most of the time she has been ignoring it entirely. She sighed, watching the clouds pass her by in the sky. Stevie was trying to search for when things changed. When did she change her mind about him? Was she even really that sure if this is really how she felt, or was it just the magic of the lake house?
Maybe she was just actually insane. But one thing was true. She had to fight the urge to kiss him and now, that urge had happened more than once.
She heard Sam get back into his canoe and she lifted her head up to see him.
"Should we head back?" he asked her and she couldn't ignore the pang of sadness in her chest.
"Yeah, sure."
She struggled to get back into the canoe and Sam laughed at her.
"Fuck off," she grunted as she pulled herself up. Sam untied their oars and tossed her the rope before heading back to the dock. Stevie couldn't help but feel a little bit responsible for throwing the happy and silly vibes off but she figured some space would help her regulate her feelings. When they pulled the canoes back up to the house, she laid it against the side of the front deck and sighed.
"These can dry out before I put them away," she said and Sam nodded, stretching his body and heading inside. Stevie sheepishly followed him.
"Are you okay?" she asked and Sam walked over to Rosie's crate, unlocking it and letting her out before he perked an eyebrow up at Stevie, "Yeah! I'm great! You want to barbecue tonight? The fun is not over, Stevie!"
She smiled a tight lipped smile and nodded, "Yeah that sounds good! We can use the pool! We just have to shower really good before we get in. Lake water does not mix."
Sam smiled and narrowed his eyes at her, "I remember the rules."
She laughed and nodded, "Yes because you always follow the rules, Sam. I must've forgotten!"
He rolled his eyes and shook his head, "Ya secretly love to break rules. Don't even act like you don't."
Stevie gasped and put her hands on her hips, "Like when?"
"You've snuck into more bars than I can count," Sam laughed, "I have too but I learn from the best."
"I'm not sure if my strategy would necessarily work for you," Stevie laughed, "Older men are very easy to persuade."
Sam's face twisted in disgust but then he smiled, "Older women love me."
"Oh, I'm sure they do pretty boy," Stevie shook her head, "Now go take a shower and stop getting lake water all over the house!"
"WHEW!" Sam exclaimed and looked down at Rosie, "Do you smell that Rosie? I think it's Stevie! Should we tell her she reeks?"
Stevie shoved him lightly, "Shut up, jerk."
She shook her head, making her way to the stairs but turning around to flash him a smile before she left to the bathroom. Once they were showered and clean, Stevie put a fresh bathing suit on underneath a pair of shorts and a big t-shirt that was her dad's. She went downstairs and saw Sam in a pair of red shorts and a black t-shirt, already in the kitchen getting things ready for the barbecue outside.
"Hey! You don't smell anymore," Sam quipped when she walked in and she flipped him off, "I never smell, thank you."
He smiled and went back to what he was doing, "Are you okay with veggie burgers for dinner?"
She nodded, "Sounds great! You must like to cook cause I haven't had to do a single thing the whole time we've been here."
Sam chuckled and nodded, "Yeah, I love to cook! Plus, it's the least I can do for letting me crash with you."
She shrugged, "I'm not complaining. Keep cooking for me, I could get used to it."
Sam looked up at her for a moment with a small smile but he shook it off and went back to shaping burgers. She watched him closely but after a few moments of silence, she got up from her seat and went over to the fridge.
"I'll help you actually," Stevie said, "You can work on the protein and I'll cut up the veggies and toppings."
They worked together side by side and once Sam had all the patties made on a plate, he carried them out to the backyard, whistling on his way there and she laughed at him. When the veggies were ready, she placed them in the fridge to wait for when they needed them and then she headed outside too, grabbing the speaker on her way out.
Stevie sat at the patio table and put on some music while Sam fired the grill up. She then just sat and enjoyed the sunshine while Sam zoned in on what he was doing.
"Do you want a drink?" She asked and he looked at her and nodded, "Yeah, that'd be great. Surprise me!"
Stevie went back inside and grabbed a couple seltzers from the fridge and brought one out to him and he winked with a thank you before they went back to what they had been doing. She would glance at him every so often, watching and laughing at him singing along to the songs that came on. She grabbed her phone and put on Greta Van Fleet and Sam whipped his head around, "What are you doing?"
"Oh," Stevie smiled, "Just putting on this really great band. I don't know if you've ever heard of them."
"Come on," Sam sighed, "Don't make me listen to my own music."
"Oh," Stevie laughed, "But it's so good!"
"Stevie!" Sam pleaded, "We're having so much fun! Josh's voice is gonna ruin it!"
Stevie gasped, "I'm gonna tell him you said that!"
Sam rolled his eyes and pointed the tongs at her, "I'm serious!"
"Fine," she groaned and put on a different playlist, causing Sam to smile and take the burgers off the grill.
"Dinner is served!" he said excitedly and she laughed, rolling her eyes, "Oh my gosh, you're so dramatic."
She stood up and followed him inside to the kitchen where they fixed their burgers together and then they took them out to the back patio and sat down, just as the sun was sinking behind the trees.
"This is really good," Stevie shook her burger at him and Sam chuckled, "Thanks, I make a pretty mean impossible burger."
When they were done, Stevie took their plates and Sam tried to stop her but she hit his hand away, "No! You cooked, I'm cleaning. Just relax and enjoy the pool or something."
The sun had gone down and the sky was a dark shade of blue, almost ready for stars to start popping out. Sam looked around and spotted the fire pit in the back corner of the yard.
"I don't feel like showering again," he sighed, "Should we have a fire and make s'mores?"
"You're not going to shower after being in campfire smoke?"
He rolled his eyes and shrugged, "Campfire smoke is not an immediate shower the way chlorine is."
"Okay fair," Stevie responded, "Well I love s'mores so I'm not going to say no."
He smiled and stood up, "Perfect! I'll go get it set up then!"
They both went into the house and Stevie worked on the dishes while Sam went out to the front, taking the canoes to the garage and putting them back before digging around the space for some firewood. Once he had enough, he grabbed the lighter fluid and went around to the back gate, getting the fire ready. Stevie grabbed the s'mores stuff and a couple more drinks, meeting him out back and taking a seat at the fire pit.
Once he got the fire started, he clapped his hands together, admiring his work and sitting across from Stevie. She handed him another seltzer and he took it graciously.
"Why, thank you!"
"Thank you," Stevie responded, "For all of today. It's been nice to just have some down time."
"No problem," Sam smiled, "I've been having fun with you out here. Even with all of the cleaning. It's been nice to reminisce."
She nodded, "Surprisingly it has been."
Sam reached for a skewer and popped a marshmallow on it, handing it back to Stevie, "Here you go."
She smiled and took it, "Thank you! Seriously, Sam. You've been so helpful out here. It's honestly shocking."
He looked at her with a questioning look, "Why is that shocking?"
She shrugged, "I don't know. I just wasn't expecting it to be so... nice?"
He smirked, "Oh, so you enjoy spending time with me then?"
She rolled her eyes, "Don't ruin it by fishing for compliments, man."
"Tell me how much you like me, Stevie," Sam leaned back, looking at her intensely and she stuck her tongue out at him, "I don't like you."
"You don't like me because you love me, don't you?"
She laughed, "Oh my god, shut up!"
He laughed too but he went ahead and put another marshmallow on a skewer for him, "You didn't deny it."
"I have enjoyed spending time with you, yes," Stevie sighed, "You're an ass but it has been fun. Thank you."
"Well," Sam stuck his marshmallow above the fire, looking at it closely, "I didn't want it to not be fun."
They didn't speak more, toasting their marshmallows and assembling s'mores together. When Sam finished his, he looked at her amusedly.
"What?" Stevie asked, "Do I have stuff on my face?"
He laughed and pointed to the corner of his mouth, "Maybe a little."
She groaned and wiped her mouth off with her sleeve, silently praising that it was just graham cracker. When she looked back up, she saw Sam still eyeing her.
"What do you want, freak?" She asked and Sam laughed, "I'm just wondering why you dated Ryan at all?"
She groaned, "Please, not this fucker again."
He shrugged, "I'm just saying! You're way out of his league, Stevie."
She laughed, "I'm aware. But, none of that matters anymore, anyway."
"Did you really want to marry him?" Sam asked and she looked down, not entirely sure how to answer.
"I mean," she began, "Was I dying for him to propose to me? Not really. I have never been the type who dreamed of their wedding. I just assumed it would happen, because that is usually just what happens next."
He nodded, "I see. So, was that really the thing that was the most devastating to you when it ended?"
"No," Stevie answered quickly, "The most devastating thing was thinking about all of the time I wasted with someone who didn't care about me the way I cared about them."
"Are you sure you never wanted to date Jake?" Sam asked, "I mean like even when we were in middle school or high school?"
Stevie rolled her eyes and chuckled again, "No, Sam. I have never wanted to date Jake. It was already annoying that everyone thought we were together, but I never wanted that to be real. I like our relationship exactly the way it is."
He narrowed his eyes at her, "Why didn't you date anyone in high school then?"
"Because," Stevie said, "I didn't care about any of that stupid shit. Besides, it's not like anyone was knocking down my door dying to date me."
Sam laughed, "Oh, please. I don't believe that even for a minute."
"Then you must not remember me going to prom with Josh," Stevie snorted a laugh, "Twice!"
Sam burst into an eruption of laughter, "No, I guess I don't remember that."
"Why are you so judgy and concerned about my love life anyway?" Stevie questioned, sticking the last of her s'more in her mouth and Sam rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm not! Just trying to understand it all, that's all."
"You've got plenty of your own love problems Mr. Casanova," Stevie quipped and Sam shook his head, "Yeah, whatever."
"What happened with your last girlfriend, anyway? I remember you being very excited to gush over her the last time I saw you."
Sam hissed and shook his head, "Like I said, I don't like the way I've treating people, Stevie. That girl never stood a chance when she met me."
Stevie's jaw dropped as she gaped at him, "What the hell do you mean?"
"I mean," Sam sighed again, "I was a serial dater because I was trying to ignore that I'd never get what I want."
Stevie shook her head, waving her skewer around in his direction, "Still not following, Sam."
Sam leaned forward and Stevie watched as he started to get fidgety with his hands, rubbing his knees and drumming his thighs a bit.
"This might be embarrassing," Sam sighed and smiled cheekily before glancing up at Stevie.
His eyes looked nervous and intense as they watched her over the campfire flames between them. She felt her chest tighten the longer she waited for him to speak and when he laughed, she realized she was holding her breath.
"You've always been that girl," Sam looked down at the wood beneath his feet and he smiled again, rubbing his hand along his jaw, "The girl that my mind circles back to."
Stevie felt herself choke on her breath and when she started uncontrollably coughing, Sam looked away, almost shrinking down inside himself. It wasn't Stevie's intention, but she never thought she'd hear him actually say it out loud. Sure, Sam used to be a royal pain in her ass by the way he'd make weird and uncomfortable advances towards her when they were teens, but now all of this was a lot different. Especially considering how confused she had been feeling about him. When she regained her composure, she started to laugh.
"Sorry," Stevie muttered, "You're full of shit!"
Sam sighed and he wouldn't look her in the eye anymore, "No, actually I'm not."
She took a deep breath and looked at him seriously for a moment, "Wait. You're saying that you're a serial dater because of me?"
"No," Sam shook his head, "Not because of you. Because I can't have you."
"Sam," Stevie sighed, "That's ridiculous. You do not have real, actual feelings for me."
"I do," Sam's jaw tightened, annoyance obvious on his face, "I have since like forever."
She sat there, staring at him, unsure of what to say now.
"Uh," Stevie studied her hands, "That's crazy."
"You might think so," Sam stood up, "But it's true. I don't know why it just felt like the right time to finally tell you, but forget I said anything at all."
Sam started to walk away, going back up to the house and Stevie called after him, but he ignored her, practically running inside.
Stevie cursed under her breath and she stood up, rushing inside after him. She didn't see him anywhere down stairs so she ran up the stairs and went to his room. She didn't bother to knock before she threw the door open, finding him sitting on his bed.
"Sam!" she exclaimed and he looked at her, eyes wet from tears, "Please, leave me alone. I shouldn't have said anything."
"No," Stevie said, "I'm sorry for reacting that way. I didn't mean to be such an asshole about it. I just, it's a lot of information to process right now and I've already been having so many confusing feelings about you lately and I don't want to do anything stupid or ruin something just because I want to kiss you-"
"Wait," Sam cut her off, "You want to kiss me?"
She shrugged and groaned loudly, running her hands through her hair, "God! I don't know! I guess? I've thought about it! I mean, what do you mean you've had feelings for me forever? I just don't even know how to process any of that!"
"Stevie," Sam said sternly, "I've been in love with you since the day I met you. Stupidly, madly head over heels in love with you! Honestly, I'm not really sure how you didn't ever figure it out. I'm not very subtle about it around you."
"But," her voice was quiet, "That just cannot be true! You have been so mean to me in the past."
Sam sighed and nodded, "I know, I know. I was trying to just make peace with the fact that you'd never want me. I would tease you and question you about Jake because I'm insanely jealous."
"What?" She asked, "All of that time you've been pestering me about being obsessed with Jake is because you're jealous?"
"Yeah," Sam laughed, "Thought that was pretty obvious."
"You are so stupid!" Stevie laughed and he smiled, "But... you want to kiss me."
"God," Stevie sighed, "Okay, like two, maybe three times ever."
Sam stood up and walked slowly towards her, "Why don't you?"
"Because I shouldn't," Stevie whispered, watching him get closer to her.
"And why not?" Sam asked, "I mean, you've known me forever."
"Exactly," she muttered, "I've known you forever."
"You're worried Jake would be pissed," Sam said with a smirk, "That's it, isn't it?"
Stevie shook her head sternly, feeling her heart rate increase as Sam stood so close to her, yet still hadn't touched her. She wanted him to touch her so badly, but she was fighting extremely hard to not give in, herself.
"No," she said again, "It could just ruin everything, Sam."
"Or," Sam whispered, "It could fix everything, Stevie."
She remained quiet, her mind racing too fast to think of anything to say.
Sam reached out and tilted her chin up with his hand, "You'll never know until you try."
His voice was a low whisper and Stevie could practically feel herself vibrating by the minimal contact they made. She searched his eyes quickly and took in a sharp breath.
"Fuck it," she gasped before grabbing his shirt, pulling him into her.
Their lips touched, not as graciously as she had hoped. They kind of crashed into one another and once they made contact, both of them were kissing each other desperately. Sam's hands immediately held tightly around her waist and her hands moved from his shirt to his hair, pulling him down closer to her face. Sam's mouth parted, licking her lips and she didn't even think before opening her mouth to him, making out with him like she was some strung out teenager in high school again. She had been fighting it for the better part of this week and now that she had his lips on hers, she didn't realize just how badly she truly wanted it.
Sam kissed her like it was the last thing he'd ever do. He had dreamed of this moment for so long. Longer than he even cared to admit, and now that it was actually happening, he wouldn't want it any other way. It was extremely satisfying to watch her try to fight the feelings she evidently had for him. Even if she had been confused about it and even if it was just pure lust she was feeling, he didn't care. He was down for whatever he could get.
Sam's hands moved from her waist, stooping down to the back of her thighs, pulling her up to wrap around his torso. At the force of his movements, Stevie unexpectedly moaned into his mouth, causing goosebumps to raise on his arms. It wasn't something he expected her to do, but now that it happened, he just wanted to make her sound like that for the rest of his life.
He carried her to the bed and set her down gently, crawling over her and letting his lips find their place back on her lips. Stevie kissed him desperately, pulling slightly on his hair, causing him to moan too and when she heard this, she couldn't help but smile against his mouth and Sam smiled too, pulling away from her mouth and peppering kisses along her neck. Stevie whined in his ear and Sam's entirely body filled with butterflies, not even a whole minute in before feeling an erection. Stevie noticed this too and she tensed, closing her eyes and trying to focus just on the way his lips felt against her skin.
She was terribly nervous now. Of course she wanted him, but this was Sam at the end of the day. This was her childhood family friend of decades. Her best friend's younger brother. This could end horribly. Besides, Sam had a point about the possibility of Jake being pissed if he found out about this. Sam's hand ran along her thigh and when he hooked his hand along the waistband of her shorts, she grabbed his wrist.
"Stop!" Stevie panted, "Sam, stop."
He lifted his head and tore his hands away from her, resting at either side of her head, "Are you okay?"
She shook her head, "No, no. We can't do this."
Sam rolled off of her and sat up, "Are you sure?"
"I'm sorry," Stevie said, sitting up and trying to regain her breath, "It's just a bad idea, Sam. We can't."
He sat on the edge of the bed with his back turned to her and nodded, "Okay."
His voice was so quiet and Stevie felt guilt wash over her but she stood up, hurrying out of his room and slamming the door abruptly. Tears welled in her eyes but she held her breath until she was downstairs again, letting herself cry.
When Stevie calmed down and regained her composure, she went ahead and cleaned up the back patio, putting the s'mores stuff away and extinguishing the fire. She didn't know what else to do but lock herself away in her room, too embarrassed to face what had happened. It wasn't that she didn't want to kiss him, or even hook up with him, her mind was just so foggy. She didn't want it to go too far before she did something she couldn't take back. It would be entirely too messy for her to handle. But she still felt terrible.
She changed into her pajamas and fell into her bed. However, she couldn't seem to find a position that brought her any comfort and when she had been battling sleep for at least an hour, she sat up aggressively and snatched her phone off of her side table. In a blind emotional rage, she dialed a number and held it to her ear, begging for him to answer. It rang twice before she heard his voice.
"Hello?"
"Josh," Stevie croaked, "I need to talk to you."

In recent years, print-on-demand (POD) services have revolutionized the way entrepreneurs and artists bring their designs to market. With the ability to create custom products without the need for large upfront investments or inventory management, POD has democratized the world of e-commerce.
Tumblr media
As we move further into 2024, several trends are emerging in the POD industry, shaping the landscape of products and design ideas. In this comprehensive exploration, we’ll delve into the latest trends, highlight the best products, and provide inspiration for design ideas in the dynamic world of print-on-demand.
1. Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Products
As environmental consciousness continues to rise, consumers are increasingly seeking sustainable and eco-friendly products. Print-on-demand services are responding to this demand by offering a range of environmentally conscious options.
From organic cotton t-shirts to recycled paper products, POD platforms are enabling sellers to align with sustainability goals. Design ideas that promote environmental awareness, such as nature-inspired motifs or messages advocating for conservation, resonate well with eco-conscious consumers.
2. Personalization and Customization
One of the key advantages of print-on-demand is its ability to offer personalized products tailored to individual preferences. In 2024, the trend towards personalization is stronger than ever, with consumers seeking unique items that reflect their personalities and interests.
From custom phone cases to personalized home decor, the possibilities for customization are endless. Design ideas that incorporate monograms, names, or initials, as well as designs that celebrate hobbies or special occasions, are popular choices for personalized products.
3. Nostalgia and Retro Designs
Nostalgia continues to be a powerful force in consumer culture, with people gravitating towards products and designs that evoke feelings of nostalgia for the past. In 2024, retro-inspired designs are making a comeback in the world of print-on-demand.
From vintage typography to retro gaming graphics, nostalgic themes are resonating with a wide audience. Design ideas that draw inspiration from iconic eras such as the 80s or 90s, as well as retro motifs like cassette tapes or old-school video games, are sure to capture the attention of nostalgic consumers.
4. Socially Conscious Messaging
In an age of social and political awareness, consumers are increasingly drawn to products that reflect their values and beliefs. Print-on-demand platforms are seeing a rise in demand for products that promote socially conscious messaging, whether it’s advocating for equality, diversity, or inclusion.
Design ideas that feature empowering slogans, symbols of unity, or messages of solidarity with marginalized communities are resonating with socially conscious consumers who want to make a statement with their purchases.
5. Digital Art and Illustration
With the proliferation of digital tools and platforms, digital art and illustration have become more accessible than ever. In 2024, print-on-demand services are seeing a surge in demand for products featuring digital artwork and illustrations.
From vibrant digital prints to whimsical illustrations, digital art offers endless possibilities for creative expression. Design ideas that showcase digital art techniques such as digital painting, vector illustration, or 3D rendering are popular choices for products ranging from apparel to home decor.
6. Minimalist and Abstract Designs
In a world cluttered with information and stimuli, minimalist and abstract designs offer a breath of fresh air. In 2024, these design styles are gaining popularity in the print-on-demand industry, appealing to consumers who appreciate simplicity and elegance. Minimalist designs, characterized by clean lines and subtle details, evoke a sense of sophistication and modernity. Abstract designs, with their emphasis on shapes, colors, and textures, offer a sense of artistic freedom and interpretation.
Design ideas that embrace minimalism or abstraction, whether it’s a sleek geometric pattern or an abstract watercolor artwork, are resonating with consumers seeking understated yet impactful designs.
7. Pop Culture References
Pop culture has always been a rich source of inspiration for designers and creators, and in 2024, it continues to influence the world of print-on-demand. From cult classic movies to viral memes, pop culture references are finding their way onto a variety of products, capturing the attention of fans and enthusiasts.
Design ideas that pay homage to beloved characters, iconic quotes, or memorable moments from pop culture resonate with consumers who want to express their fandom in creative ways. Whether it’s a retro-inspired movie poster or a witty slogan inspired by internet culture, products that tap into pop culture trends are sure to find a dedicated audience.
8. Collaborations and Limited Edition Releases
Collaborations between artists, brands, and influencers have become increasingly common in the print-on-demand industry, offering unique opportunities for creative expression and brand partnerships. In 2024, collaborations and limited edition releases are driving excitement and demand in the market.
By teaming up with established artists or partnering with niche influencers, POD platforms are able to offer exclusive products that appeal to dedicated fan bases. Design ideas that leverage the popularity and influence of collaborators, whether it’s a special edition collection or a co-branded collaboration, can generate buzz and drive sales in a crowded marketplace.

7 Funeral Planning Tips Anyone Can Use
Funeral Planning is not something anyone would look forward to. Nevertheless, you will have to deal with this, at some point in your life since death is inevitable.
By planning your own funeral, you will only be making it easier for your family members to handle things when you are gone. If you don’t want to add to their financial stress, you can even buy a final expense plan. There are many insurance companies that sell such plans. You can get in touch with them through final expense leads.
Here are a few things that can help you plan your funeral, while you are still alive:
Understand the Process
Every funeral service involves four aspects – visitation, a funeral ceremony, a committal service, and the funeral reception.
For the visitation, the corpse will have to be prepared and kept in a casket, so that the guests can pay their respects.
The funeral ceremony could be held at a church, graveyard side, or a funeral home. This service will involve some music, singing of hymns, saying a eulogy prayer, and even some reading of religious or literary passages.
If the family plans a committal service they may want to take the corpse to the cemetery, in a vehicle procession, for burial or cremation.
The funeral reception refers to a post-service gathering where people gather to share some memories of the deceased, and support the grieving family.
Now that you know the entire process, you can make your own funeral planning checklist and make some decisions as to how you want your family to bid the final farewell to you.
Make Plans in Advance
Most funeral homes today sell funeral packages, promising better rates if you buy them in advance. You can plan which package you want to buy; but make sure you don’t pay anything in advance.
There is no saying how the situation might change after you pay for your funeral and till your death date. You may be at a far-off place at the time of your death. In such a case there may not be any option to transfer your prepaid funeral plan to another funeral home. Also, in case the funeral home you paid for, closes down before your death, there is no chance of your family getting that money back. Your money would be safer in a bank and might even collect some interest.
You can always save some money in a payable-on-death account, which can be used for your funeral. This way you won’t have to worry even if the funeral package cost goes up at the time of your death. All that you need to do is designate your beneficiary, who will be receiving the amount after your death. There is no minimum amount stipulation for a POD account. At any point of time, you can change your beneficiary or even close your POD account while you are alive.
Alternatively, you can purchase a final expense plan. This would be similar to a whole life insurance plan; but a less expensive one as the death benefit is lower. Also known as burial or funeral insurance, a final expense plan can be bought by anyone who is 50 or older. Apart from your funeral costs, the final expense plan proceeds can be used to cover your medical bills (if any) or pay back the debts you leave behind.
Keep Track of Funeral Costs
In order to save money for your funeral, it becomes important to estimate the average funeral costs. Funeral costs include a lot of things such as:
·   Funeral home rental fees
·   Viewing charges or funeral service fees
·   Transportation charges
·   Burial expenses
·   Cemetery Fees
·   Embalming costs
·   Cremation costs
·   Miscellaneous expenses like flowers, music, etc.
The cremation costs may vary from state to state. You can make an itemized list of these funeral costs and calculate the amount of money needed for your funeral.
Select the Best Funeral Home
There might be many funeral homes to choose from, when planning a funeral service. Check out a few of these before you make your selection. Get quotes and compare them. Some may not reveal the prices right away; but you can insist.
Choose your Funeral Package
See if the funeral homes you visit offer any packages. Find out what all are included in them. If you don’t need some of these items that come with the standard package, you can ask for a customized package. Make sure you know the prices of each and every item that they provide.
For instance, you may not want to buy a casket from the funeral home if it is too expensive. Or you may find it cheaper to buy flowers from your local florist than get them from the funeral home. Find out more ways like this to save money and reduce the burden on your family members.
Join a Memorial Society
Memorial Societies are nonprofit organizations that provide the necessary guidance to plan a funeral. They also have price surveys of various funeral homes situated in the area. If you become a member of one of these, you can even get some discount at your local funeral home. You may have to pay a one-time membership fee; but it will be a nominal amount.
Discuss and Document Your Funeral Plan
Have a discussion with your family members on what type of funeral you may want to have. You may want to write these things down, in case they forget. They may not be able to follow all your instructions to the T; but they will get a fair idea of the kind of funeral you would want. And even if they do miss out on a few things here or there, you sure won’t mind as you won’t be there in person, to monitor them.
The Conclusion
Preplanning your funeral is not something that might excite you. However, it is one thing you do to reduce the financial burden on your family members after you pass away. A clearly documented funeral plan will give them the exact guidelines they need to follow, to bid you the final farewell as per your wish.

A print on demand store will be very demanding on an e-commerce plugin, so you'll more than likely need to use WooCommerce for that. The good news is that WooCommerce works well with VW Themes andit also helps for web hosting WordPress includes everything you'll need to allow for selling goods online.
To install WooCommerce go to Plugins > Add New and search for WooCommerce.
Activate and install the plugin. A configuration wizard has to be followed to set up the basics of your store, including currency, payment methods, and shipping options.
Step 4: Choose a Print on Demand Platform
Next, you’ll need to choose a Print on Demand platform that integrates with WooCommerce. Popular options include:
Printful
Printify
Gooten
These platforms allow you to create custom products (such as t-shirts, mugs, phone cases, etc.) and automatically fulfill orders once a customer makes a purchase.
For the integration of your store to their catalog of products, you sync this on each site with the platform's WooCommerce integration. Then, from there, you sign up and follow their instructions to integrate the selected platform into your WooCommerce store.
Step 5: Customize Your Store
Now that your theme is active, it’s time to make your store stand out! VW Themes offer a wealth of customization options, allowing you to tailor every aspect of your site. Head over to Appearance > Customize, where you can:
* Upload your logo and customize your brand colors.
* Set up the homepage by adding sections for featured products, testimonials, and blog posts.
* Adjust fonts and layouts to ensure a user-friendly experience.
Step 6: Add Products
Now, you will begin adding products to your store by catalog from your Print on Demand platform. This may range from clothing items like t-shirts to home decor products. Remember to write a clear product description, upload a good image, and assign categories.
For this, go to WooCommerce Products > Add New. You will fill in details, such as title and description, price, and images.
Step 7: Optimize for SEO
SEO is the way to get organic traffic, and VW Themes are SEO-optimized for search engines. But you can do much more in order to further optimize it using an SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO or Rank Math. This will surely help you optimize each of the product pages, your blog post, images, with regard to the correct keywords, meta description, and alt tags.
Step 8: Set Up Payment and Shipping Options
You have to set up several payment gateways in WooCommerce so that your customers can pay you. Payment options supported by WooCommerce are PayPal, Stripe, and bank transfers.
For shipping, rely on the POD service as it covers most aspects of logistics. Ensure that your shipping policies in your POD platform and also in regions match those in the WooCommerce settings. Moreover it uses Woocommerce Dropshipping Plugin in order to connect Printful and Woocommerce.
Step 9: Test Your Store
Before going live, test everything! Make sure your product pages look good, your checkout process is smooth, and all buttons and links work. You can also place a test order to ensure your Print on Demand platform syncs correctly with WooCommerce.

Monetizing Your Podcast: How Let’s Get Pod Turned Passion into Profit
If you've ever wondered how to turn your podcast into a profitable venture, look no further than Let’s Get Pod, a podcast that successfully transformed from a passion project into a booming business. Much like finding the best deals at the No.1 pod shop near me, ร้านพอตใกล้ฉัน, monetizing your podcast requires the right strategy and dedication. Whether you're just starting or looking to grow your podcast, there are several ways to begin generating revenue while doing something you love.
The Early Days of Let’s Get Pod
Every podcast begins with a dream and a passion. For the creators of "Let’s Get Pod," the journey started as a hobby—a fun project where they could share their insights, humor, and expertise with a small but growing audience. But passion alone doesn’t pay the bills. After overcoming initial challenges such as securing consistent listeners and perfecting the sound quality, the podcast began building a loyal audience.
Consistency in releasing episodes was key, as was engaging directly with their audience. They nurtured their community, building trust and rapport, which laid the foundation for future monetization efforts.
Strategies for Monetization
Once Let’s Get Pod gained traction, it was time to turn that loyal listener base into a source of income. Here are some of the strategies they used:
Sponsorships and Partnerships
One of the most effective ways to monetize a podcast is through sponsorships. Let’s Get Pod began approaching brands and businesses that aligned with their content, offering them the chance to reach a niche audience.
Approaching brands and businesses: They carefully selected potential sponsors who were a natural fit for their audience, ensuring that the ads felt authentic and not intrusive.
Crafting valuable partnerships: Instead of one-off sponsorships, they focused on building long-term partnerships with brands, offering them creative ad placements and shout-outs within the podcast.
Listener Support Through Patreon and Donations
Monetizing through listener support is another powerful tool that Let’s Get Pod utilized. They created a Patreon page where loyal fans could contribute financially in exchange for exclusive content.
Building a community willing to support: Engaging with listeners and making them feel like part of the show encouraged them to support the podcast financially.
Offering exclusive content: Premium episodes, behind-the-scenes footage, and live Q&A sessions became perks for their paying supporters.
Selling Merchandise
As the podcast grew in popularity, Let’s Get Pod took advantage of their brand recognition by selling merchandise like T-shirts, mugs, and even limited-edition items featuring catchphrases from the show.
Creating branded items: They partnered with local creators to design unique merchandise that resonated with their fan base.
Leveraging the audience for sales: The podcast hosts would occasionally plug their store, but without being pushy, which created organic interest and led to substantial sales.
Diversifying Revenue Streams
In addition to sponsorships, listener support, and merchandise sales, Let’s Get Pod looked to diversify its revenue streams even further.
Affiliate Marketing
They began working with companies through affiliate marketing. By promoting products they genuinely used and enjoyed, they earned a commission every time a listener made a purchase through their referral links.
Offering Online Courses and Workshops
As the hosts of Let’s Get Pod became recognized experts in their niche, they expanded their business by offering online courses and workshops.
Expanding expertise beyond podcasting: They shared their knowledge on topics like podcasting for beginners, personal branding, and building a community.
Growing additional revenue channels: These courses became another significant source of income, complementing the revenue generated directly from the podcast.
Tips for New Podcasters
If you're considering monetizing your podcast, keep these tips in mind
Consistency is Key
Release episodes on a regular schedule so your listeners know when to expect new content. This builds trust and anticipation.
Engage with Your Audience Regularly
Whether through social media, emails, or even live events, interacting with your audience creates loyalty. The more engaged your audience is, the more likely they are to support you financially.
Invest in Good Equipment
While it might seem tempting to start with minimal equipment, investing in quality microphones and editing software will dramatically improve your podcast's sound quality, making it more appealing to listeners—and potential sponsors.
Conclusion
Monetizing a podcast is not an overnight process, but as Let’s Get Pod has shown, with passion, consistency, and smart strategies, it's possible to turn your podcast into a profitable venture. Whether you're securing sponsorships, selling merchandise, or building a loyal Patreon community, there are endless possibilities to explore.
So why wait? Start your podcasting journey today, and just like finding your favorite products at the No.1 pod shop near me, ร้านพอตใกล้ฉัน, you’ll soon discover that turning your passion into profit is closer than you think.
