Yandere Ship //// Part 4
Part 1 • 2 • 3
Vera immediately becomes critical when the Captain and Lieutenant keep making their way to the meeting room that has no cameras, no recorders, and nothing to summon Vera with
“Uh, Vera why did you double lock the door like that?”
“No reason. Just checking that they work.”
“That’s not ‘no reason.’”
“Sorry, I messed up with my sayings again.”
“It’s fine, I mess it up all the time too.”
Vera was actually remote-controlling your communicator to silently alert Jule of this behavior
Jule acts immediately putting an EMP-immune drone smaller than a land-fly into the room
“--Captain I say we leave. Go to the enemy planet and try to find our secret base there. You’re right about this ship being unreliable.”
“But I wonder how can we convince the technician to come with?”
“Ugh! Who needs him?! And that (L/n) character too. I say we leave them to self-destruct with this virus-ridden ship.”
“We need the technician. He’s the only one with interplanetary know-how on top of understanding the inner workings of the escape pods we’d have to travel in.”
“Then let’s just knock him upside the head and leave that thing behind.”
“Lieutenant I admire your determination but I’m leaving no one behind to stay with this thing.”
The two continue to talk about how they plan on making a fire at the furthest part of the ship
Something that could easily be fixed if the technician was near but they planned it so it’s on the other side of the ship
And since he’s a priority person, they’d be evacuating him
And if not him then you of course to lure him out
“Hey Ver I think we should have you take a crack at your new bod.”
“Awesome! I’ll start booting it up now!”
Jule purposely doesn’t inform Vera of the whole conversation and plan
By now he knows just how intense Vera’s feelings are about those he cares about
Except he knows that Vera’s less concerned about restraint than he
So he’ll commence his own plan
Immediately running to you in one of the hobby rooms when Vera stops responding
Knowing they planned to cut Vera to start the fire
When the alarm blares and Vera turns back on
The Captain and Lieutenant are right there to tell them to prep the launch pods
“But Jule is more than capable of—”
“IT’S OUR CALL Veras! Remember your programming!”
“....Yes Captain.”
He preps the pods for the location of an enemy-ruled planet
Doing all the necessary protocols to filter everyone out safely
Of course, Vera neglects to really inform you like the others
He knows that it’s best to have you in your own pod away from the stressed and hostile people cramming in
Which is why they’re not prepared when the lieutenant comes in harshly knocking whatever you were doing out of your hand to grab your wrists tightly
“OW! What are you—”
“STOP STRUGGLING! I’m saving your pathetic life.”
She does explain after knocking you around a bit before shoving you towards the captain’s pod
By the time Jule finds you they’ve tied you inside while beckoning the technician in
“I know you’ll think wrong of us for this but these people need you.”
“So IT’s OKAY TO ATTACK SOMEONE INNOCENT?!”
“Please Jule get in the pod. We can talk about ethics more when I’m not inclined to knock you out.”
Jule will step forward before stopping
The Captain goes to yell at him when the alarms stop
So does the smoke that had been permeating through the vents
“The issue of the fire has been neutralized. The issue about an evil miscreant and their oh-so-powerful captain is underway.”
“V-ver?”
The voice of the ship was coming out of a beautifully crafted android
Glowing blue eyes and black hair flowing along their lean but strong shoulders
The body type is hard to place but from what you can tell it’s male and their stature is lean giving an elegant look to him in general
Their stance has the lieutenant attempting to punch them
They dodge like they are dancing, grabbing her hand and twisting
“AAAAGH!”
Ver doesn’t let her mourn her wound because they’ve jump-kicked her into the back wall of the pod
“I’ve been wanting to do that since I first met you.”
The Captain’s stunned shock allows you to stumble out and into Jule’s arms
The Captain tries to reach for you only to be met with a stabbing pain in his eyes
Jule shuts your eyes and buries you into his chest, blocking your view
The Captain screams like his lieutenant but it’s cut off by the pod doors closing and then ejecting themselves from the ship
Ver immediately turns to join the hug, Jule’s keeps you in
Only to shrink back when Jule’s glares at their bloodied fingers
They wipe it away before joining the hug
“I’m so happy it’s you guys I’m stuck with.”
“Yeah, me too.”
“Me three!”
“...”
“..Vera…I don’t know if you know this but it’s really improper to touch there without consent.”
“Yeah Ver get your hands out our pants.”
“But I’ve wanted to do this for so long.”
“VER!!”
“Fine, maybe later?”
As much as Jule doesn’t want to encourage that behavior
He has to leave you alone for a while to make sure his plan plays out perfectly
His message to the enemy sky-guard under an alias he made years ago as a baby-hacker
‘At 43:94 enemy escape pods will be arriving in your airspace. Ur welx’
Watching the enemy broadcast reports about enemy spaceships it apprehended and the officials that were facing a public torture session
When he returns he’s insistent you both open a bottle of champagne
“I really don’t think now is the time, Jule.”
“Oh but it is babe! I think we should party now that we’ve gotten rid of those neets.”
“Wait got rid of–?”
“(Y/n)! I’ve never seen you drink that before! Will you please?!! I’d also like to hold a microphone nearby while you do.”
Now you three will have free reign of the ship learning to live your life in the worlds beyond
Vera knows it doesn’t get any better than this
They’ve also decided that they’d do anything to keep it this way
More?

Big thanks to @tgirlblogger who reminded me with a like to post this today this morning like I planned.
TORTUGA
Tinker 8 - All-in-one Mech, redundancy/life support tinker.
Citadel Architect, or Conglomerate Architect from the weaverdice document fit best here. Everything she makes feeds into her Mech, her magnum opus, a career spanning megaproject that is constantly 'unfinished' but still capable of combat. Much of her tinker methodology is inventing something and then discovering how it fits into the design of her machine. She believes her power is 'alive' and whispering the secrets of the universe to her, but she alternates between truly treating her power like it's alive and thinking it's just her subconscious needing a rubber duck to let itself out. (It's both, her shard is exactly like her only with a blue-orange mentality from being a giant space world-machine.)
She also has some extremely sophisticated parahuman scanning equipment built into her sensors and her quasi-AI computer co-pilot she's built to handle the automatic functions of her Mech. Her best work is made this way; scan parahumans (more in-depth scans are better but she's still taking passive scans of everyone she comes in contact with), create equipment inspired by parahumans, plug that component into the machine, the machine's secrets are revealed a little more and the puzzle is growing complete, iterate on new inspirations driven from the new tech's installation to upgrade previous tech until new well of inspiration is expended, repeat.
The consequence of this is that though her Mech is one of the most intensely iterated pieces of tinkertech in the world, she herself doesn't have much in the way of portable technology.
Glasses that record what she sees and hears with rear view cameras built into the frames that hang over her ears.
A pilot's plugsuit that is durable and temperature controlled and wicks away sweat and grime so she can wear it indefinitely.
A helmet much like a fighter pilot's that allows her to have a HUD and aim/control the mech manually via remote.
All of these things are mundane enough that they could be made without tinkertech, but customized to work with her Mech in a way no mundane tech could.
I'm not too sure on her trauma or how to make it fit. It could be that we simply don't cover it in the scope of the story. I feel like her self induced isolation within her Mech is part of it. She can't sleep comfortably outside of it, and even then for barely an hour. She'll start to become restless and hyper-vigilant while outside of it for any extended period of time. It's her safe space in a thousand different little ways. She's lost her Mech once before and had to rebuild it from damaged parts, almost from scratch, though she hasn't lost anything in terms of progress or discoveries. Tortuga Mk2 is a much more successful version of her initial machine.
Her specialty as a redundancy and life support tinker is best shown in how many backups she has for her technology. Chemical thrusters as backup for her anti-grav. Viewports as backup for cameras which are interchangeable with lidar, sonar, radar and gravity sensors to detect strangers, all within a camera drone net. Anti-thinker tech. Multiple shielding barriers, some based on slowing projectiles, others based on resisting them as hard as possible, then reactive armor behind them, then ceramics, soft armor, hard armor, etc. while a point defense system watches over all of it. The idea is that her Mech should resemble some of the most intense combined arms technology possible, while her inner sanctum exists to keep the VIP (her) as alive as possible. I may have to read up a little more on Lancer to get more inspiration. Hyper reflex mode, the deck-sweeper automatic shotgun (I intend to have it as a belt-fed gatling shotgun), Watchdog Co-pilot, all awesome things that inspired the character.
This didn't end up being the character bio I hoped for, but it's the one I'm posting. I'll probably end up expanding here later. Her history in central america will require some research I think, and some extrapolation on the kind of conflicts around Eidolon's zone of influence in Texas down towards Mexico and South America. Earth Bet's USA feels a bit isolationist in foreign policy to me, especially as Endbringers started cropping up, and Leviathan started crippling international shipping, and the Simurgh makes air travel daunting. I wonder what kind of influence Earth Bet's USA holds over Haiti, the Dominican Republic, or Mexico, all historically within the USA's zone of influence.
I also haven't yet thought of a name for her since I also don't know in my mind where she's from. There's this murky idea of a shaved head and pale skin and sunken eyes with bags under them, but an overall chipper attitude in private (within the comfort of her mech) and a terse mercenary facade when she puts on for her client or 'co-workers' whoever they end up being. I'm thinking something voiced by Jennifer Hale in that icy renegade Sheppard style. She's constantly got her tinker on a leash anytime she speaks to people, but would rapidly open up and turn into a motormouth if she's being encouraged and feels safe to unleash her thoughts and interests on others. Turtles are a big non-tinker special interest I think. I may have to do research on Turtles. Fuck.

Evidently Hurricane Helene’s arrival in the midst of a Presidential Election has resulted in mass amnesia (or reveals indifference) regarding response times to prior natural disasters among many on one side of the political spectrum.
Accordingly ~ Reminders:
NATIONAL GUARD and RELIEF WORK
Resources are limited because of staging. Not because of funding or manpower.
The NATIONAL Guard is each State’s ‘well organized militia’ and takes orders from the State’s Governor. NOT THE PRESIDENT.
In the States affected by Helene the Governors have mobilized and deployed National Guard units as determined by their State’s Guard leadership.
Sending scads of troops to devestated areas so they can just stand idle without equipment or resources to help is counterproductive at best.
Plus, the Guards would also need to be transported, quartered and fed which would TAKE VITAL RESOURCES FROM THOSE WHO NEED THEM.
Staging areas - with transportation in and out of - are the absolute critical work of the Guard in providing relief.
Staging locations are not ‘interesting’, exciting, ‘sexy’, and are ultimately too large for the Media to send camera crews to photograph. Out of sight; out of the Public mind.
Some specialized National Guard units have been federalized - called up and deployed overseas to support the US military. NO STATE has been left with insufficient manpower for natural disasters, civil insurrections, etc.
POLITICIANS’ INSPECTIONS
Politicians can see the same drone videos we do. Their job is to help with staging resources into devestated areas.
Elected Politicians coming to devestated areas prematurely have the same effect as flooding areas with Guards ~ effectively acts to DELAY getting resources to those in desperation.
Politicians can best serve doing their jobs at their desks getting resources staged and means of transporting those resources to those in need.
People Campaigning for political office coming to a devestated area for a political photo op should be prosecuted for criminal obstruction and trespassing.
Once relief efforts are well under way then it is appropriate for politicians or candidates to fly over the devestation to understand the size of the problem.
WHAT THE PRESIDENT CAN DO
Biden has acted. HOWEVER for some, the loud public expression of ‘thoughts & prayers’ is more effective than physical resources. I assume those complaining are outside of the devestated areas.
In accordance with federal laws that LIMIT what a President can spend - once a state’s Governor has [1] declared an emergency and [2] requests disaster funding only then [3] the President can access the billions set aside yearly for disasters.
President Biden has authorized those billions as anyone can find out if they simply Google.
Incidentally Biden’s 2021 Infrastructure Bill (passed when the Dems controlled the House) provided hundreds of millions for disaster resilience preparation . DeSantis turned down $300M because it was “too woke” as “climate change isn’t real”. I haven’t researched the other States.
TIME FRAMES
Acquiring the right supplies. Getting them to a staging area. Transporting them into devestated areas.
Having the billions doesn’t result in anything happening overnight.
For instance Electricians have to drive in from other States with their tools and then be transported through flooded areas to the PRESUMED location of the electrical service disruption. Then assess the problem and order the replacement equipment from out-of-state. Which may need special transportation to get it to where it’s needed.
The same as #2 above applies to food, drinking water, insulin, clothing, medical oxygen, heating/cooking gas, water reclamation system repairs, temporary hospitals, temporary shelters, emergency transportation to hospitals, reuniting divided families, locating remote dwellings, etc etc etc.
When the Hurricanes stay on the coast the US has the advantage of nuclear powered Navy ships which legally become Coast Guard auxiliaries and can provide power, drinking water, mobile hospitals, helicopters, etc to devestated areas.
UNIQUE ASPECTS of HELENE
Some US firestorms and rivers overflowing disasters have affected more people than Helene. However, such events essentially force everyone to evacuate the devestated areas.
The devestation from Helene in North Carolina was the outcome of the heretofore unimaginable amount of rain a hurricane could drop on an area.
The Appalachian geography has the main roadways in low level areas along rivers.
Residents are trapped unable to escape.
We, as a nation, will have to consider how to deal with these rain heavy hurricanes which science has warned us about for decades
DEPLOYING the NAVY on the COAST.
With respect to the capabilities of the US Navy. When Hurricane a Maria devestated the Caribbean in 2017 during the administration of #45
The US Navy’s Leeward Islands squadron provided the power, water, helicopters to devestated FOREIGN island nations.
Just as Obama had deployed Naval resources to Haiti after their 2010 earthquake
Due to the Posse Comitas Act (1878) the President is limited in using the military on US soil. Therefore, predesignated Navy ships and crews change their names and designations to legally become Coast Guard auxiliaries.
SOMEONE PREVENTED the deployment of those Naval resources to the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico in 2017. 2,000 US citizens died AFTER the storm due to that act of prevention.
I raged at the time that the then sitting President should be impeached, arraigned for murder, and tried for homicide. If not Genocide since the majority of victims were Hispanic-Americans.

Iono's Magnemite head decorations are actually a pair of camera drones akin to the ones used in Galarian League Matches, but remote-controlled instead of Rotom-operated.
The controls are hidden in Iono's signature super-long sleeves, and she uses them to get better camera shots during her streams/battles. They don't have the best battery life though, hence why she doesn't use them that much.

Surveillance Systems for Early Lumpy Skin Disease Detection and Rapid Response
Introduction
Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is a highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects cattle and has the potential to cause significant economic losses in the livestock industry. Rapid detection and effective management of LSD outbreaks are essential to prevent its spread and mitigate its impact. In recent years, advancements in surveillance systems have played a crucial role in early LSD detection and rapid response, leading to improved LSD care and control strategies.
The Threat of Lumpy Skin Disease
Lumpy Skin Disease is caused by the LSD virus, a member of the Poxviridae family. It is characterized by fever, nodules, and skin lesions on the animal's body, leading to reduced milk production, weight loss, and decreased quality of hides. The disease can spread through direct contact, insect vectors, and contaminated fomites, making it a major concern for livestock industries globally.
To know more about : -
Surveillance Systems for Early Detection
Traditional methods of disease detection relied on visual observation and clinical diagnosis. However, these methods can delay the identification of LSD cases, allowing the disease to spread further. Modern surveillance systems leverage technology to enhance early detection. These systems utilize a combination of methods, including:
Remote Sensing and Imaging: Satellite imagery and aerial drones equipped with high-resolution cameras can monitor large livestock areas for signs of skin lesions and changes in animal behavior. These images are analyzed using machine learning algorithms to identify potential LSD outbreaks.
IoT and Wearable Devices: Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as temperature sensors, accelerometers, and RFID tags can be attached to cattle. These devices continuously collect data on vital parameters and movement patterns, allowing for the early detection of abnormalities associated with LSD infection.
Data Analytics and Big Data: Surveillance data from various sources, including veterinary clinics, abattoirs, and livestock markets, can be aggregated and analyzed using big data analytics. This enables the identification of patterns and trends that may indicate the presence of LSD.
Health Monitoring Apps: Mobile applications allow farmers and veterinarians to report suspected cases of LSD and track disease progression. These apps facilitate real-time communication and coordination, aiding in early response efforts.
Rapid Response and LSD Care
Early detection is only half the battle; a rapid and coordinated response is equally crucial. Surveillance systems are not only capable of identifying potential outbreaks but also play a pivotal role in implementing effective LSD care strategies:
Isolation and Quarantine: Detected infected animals can be isolated and quarantined promptly, preventing the further spread of the disease. Surveillance data helps identify high-risk areas and individuals for targeted quarantine measures.
Vaccination Campaigns: Based on surveillance data indicating disease prevalence in specific regions, targeted vaccination campaigns can be initiated to immunize susceptible animals and halt the spread of LSD.
Vector Control: Surveillance systems can track insect vectors responsible for transmitting the LSD virus. This information enables the implementation of vector control measures to reduce disease transmission.
Resource Allocation: Effective response requires proper resource allocation. Surveillance data helps authorities allocate veterinary personnel, medical supplies, and equipment to affected areas efficiently.
Challenges and Future Directions
While surveillance systems offer promising solutions, challenges remain. Limited access to technology, particularly in rural areas, can hinder the implementation of these systems. Data privacy concerns and the need for robust cybersecurity measures are also crucial considerations.
In the future, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning can further enhance the accuracy of disease prediction models. Real-time genetic sequencing of the virus can provide insights into its mutations and evolution, aiding in the development of more effective vaccines.
Conclusion
Surveillance systems have revolutionized the way we detect, respond to, and manage Lumpy Skin Disease outbreaks. The ability to identify potential cases early and respond rapidly has significantly improved LSD care and control strategies. As technology continues to advance, these systems will play an increasingly vital role in safeguarding livestock industries against the threat of Lumpy Skin Disease and other contagious infections. Effective collaboration between veterinary professionals, farmers, researchers, and technology developers will be key to successfully harnessing the potential of surveillance systems for the benefit of animal health and the global economy.
