Steve Rogers x Reader (You / OFC)
Summary: Every inch of him missed you, his skin aching for the warmth of your touch, his mind desperate for the sound of your voice, the light in your eyes.
Warning: Desperate Steve /Protective Steve / Steve in despair
Characters: OC, John Walker, Sam Wilson, Tony Stark, Maria Hill, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton.
Also: Thanks in advance for repost or any feedback ❤️ Let me know if you want to be included in the taglist (DM, comment, repost and tag, whatever works)❤️
1: Insomnia | 2: Lucid | 3: Reverie | 4: Nightmare | 5: Awakening | 6: Dusk | 7: Hypnagogia | 8: Lull | 9: Vigil | 10: Eclipse
John woke up three days after your disappearance, groggy and disoriented, in the ICU. The world he knew was now in chaos. His room was heavily guarded, and the first familiar face he saw was Sam’s, stationed constantly at his door, watching over him in case of another attack and monitoring any communications.
He wasn’t a normal hospital of course, he was under strict surveillance within the Avengers compound. They’d done everything to save him: used the best medical care, cutting-edge technology, but he wasn’t going anywhere, and neither was anyone else.
No one was leaving.
Not until Steve, Hill, Natasha, and every spy loyal to Tony Stark had wrung out every last shred of information, every hidden connection, every detail that could bring them closer to understanding that attack, or finding you.
Everyone was interrogated, everyone needed to provide a hundred versions of their answers, and they had to match.
They’d match the lie detector, they’d match the CCTV, they’d match every record, every email, every sentence they’d said and that was captured by Jarvis.They’d match the fucking employee’s survey they filled two years ago. They’d match, otherwise they were facing hours and hours of ruthless, avenger’s style interrogation, led by Natasha, by Clint, by Sharon, and by Hill herself.
Vision and Wanda were busy, they worked tirelessly.
The mind stone explored its infinite powers: Vision immersed completely in the network, sifting through an endless flow of data: emails, files, surveillance footage, security reports…searching for any inconsistencies or traces that might have been overlooked.
Every security feed, every encrypted message, every buried piece of information was being drawn to the surface, handed to Jarvis and the team for analysis.
Wanda’s powers moved through the compound like an unseen force, a red wind that blew around the entire facility, spinning and sorting through the air. Looking for patterns, intuitive insights beyond what the data could reveal, in the hopes to catch something others had missed.
The barest flick of her fingers were like an instinctive hunter, reaching out to sense any lingering energy from the attack, any psychic residue that might hint at who was behind it.
Both in the search for answers, and for you.
Everyone had been looking, every single resource and agent was deployed, tearing through every lead, every rumor, every fragment of information to try to find you, but there was nothing—no trace, no sign, as if you had vanished into thin air.
Stark’s resources were being stretched to their edge: satellites repositioned, private networks hacked, and entire cities put under surveillance, but still, they came up empty.
Every asset, every favor, every underground contact was called in, yet there was only silence.
A terrible and horrible, empty void, It was as if the entire world had conspired to swallow you whole, leaving the Avengers grasping at shadows in their desperate search.
Steve was on the edge of breaking.
Days had blurred together, each one gnawing away at his sanity as he ran on scraps of sleep and barely a bite of food, his focus single-minded, unyielding, burning in a sleepless fear.
Half of his time was spent in the command center, his eyes fixed on every screen, every update, driving the team harder, faster, demanding more, obsessing over every detail, driving everyone, including him, insane but yet restless.
The other half he spent in the training room, pushing himself until his body was trembling, his muscles screaming, sweat pouring off him in sheets, and every cell in his body was begging for rest.
And then, maybe, he could get some sleep, only to wake up in some kind of nightmare with the worst scenes of his imagination.
He needed the pain—it kept him from losing his mind, kept him from the raw, pulsing panic threatening to choke him. He could feel it in every clenched breath, every aching bone: you were out there, alone, and every second he wasn’t by your side was a second he’d never forgive himself for.
And there was this enormous emotional pain too, an ache so deep it was almost physical. He could hardly bear the emptiness left by your absence; it was like a shadow that followed him everywhere.
He saw you in every corner: at the command center, at the dining table, in the lab, even in the training room that held the precious memory of the day you’d first met.
Every inch of him missed you, his skin aching for the warmth of your touch, his mind desperate for the sound of your voice, the light in your eyes.
He’d turn around at the hallucinated sound of your steps, the ghostly echo of your voice calling his name, and it was driving him mad, angry, sad, and scared.
He stepped back home just once, hoping, needing, to find some clue, any thread that might lead him closer to you. It was almost unbearable.
Your scent lingered in the air, filling the place with traces your left behind: mugs you used for breakfast left at the sink, the recipe book open and bookmarked to the page of the meal you were so excited to cook for him, his favorite wine in the fridge ready to open…everything only amplified the pain, the crushing sense that you were just beyond his reach.
And then, when the forensic techs arrived, the room was transformed into a crime scene: every item cataloged, every paper analyzed, every personal belonging scrutinized and stripped of its warmth. Steve could only watch, helpless, as every piece of the life you’d built together was dismantled and laid bare, a reminder that you were gone.
But he wasn’t the only one panicking, overwhelmed by fear and anger.
Tony and Maria were just as desperate. The breach was massive, and among the thousands of employees within the compound, there was no one, like literally no one, they could fully trust outside of themselves.
Every project, every ongoing research initiative was paused, and all information was locked down.
The world wanted intel? Advanced technology to defend itself? Was there any other alien army attacking? Well, it would have to rely on the UN or any other organization out there, because the Avengers were facing something worse than Thanos. This was a breach that had struck straight to their core, hitting the heart of everything they stood for—and they had no idea where it came from or how the fuck to fight back.
The Command Room’s lights stayed on 24/7, no one ever left.
Even Wakanda joined the investigation, cutting off all outside contact to protect themselves as they worked.
And after King T'Challa himself added his network of intelligence operatives, a hint finally emerged.
It happened 18 days after your disappearance.
And in these eternal days, to everyone’s horror and surprise, it looked like Steve was…normalizing. Exhaustion and fatigue were evident in him—something that had never, ever happened to Captain America.
He had a few gray hairs in his beard, and the dark circles under his eyes were plainly visible. It took some serious talks from Sam and Natasha, and a few heated discussions with Tony, to make him eat or sleep and keep him from spiraling into a state of self-destruction.
The news came back from General Okoye herself.
“There was only one…” The general was measuring her words. “Only one suspicious transmission. It was on a hidden frequency; we almost missed it. It was…lost, too short to intercept, but too strange to ignore. Hidden within encrypted channels, and when we got it, it actually took days to decode. Which made it even more suspicious.”
“Where is it leading to?” Steve listened with clenched fists, his gaze sharp, and his heart pounding in his chest.
The general sighed; she was being careful. “Most of the transmission was fragmented, but there was one mention that was unmistakable. It referenced The Void.”
“That…doesn’t exist.” Natasha replied immediately. “The Void has existed for ages and decades in the intel world, but only as a rumor. It’s a legend…like…fictional. It’s just a reference.”
“What’s The Void?” asked Sam.
“It’s a reference.” Natasha emphasized. “An urban legend, talked about over drinks, referring to an old, nearly forgotten facility on the outskirts of a war-torn city, once controlled by a covert organization that operated in the deepest shadows. It’s called that in intelligence circles: The Void, because supposedly no one has ever set foot in it. It’s empty; it’s…shadows and ashes. It isn’t real.”
“Yup. That’s true.” replied Clint. “The Void has been whispered about for years. It’s like…a ghostly facility that never existed on any official maps. It’s said that it was once a stronghold, buried deep in hostile territory. But that’s all…you know, legendary talk.”
“But that was years ago.” Black Widow still wasn’t fully convinced. “I haven’t heard of it in years. No one knows if it’s still standing, if it’s fortified, or even if it still exists.”
“It exists.” Suddenly, a voice interrupted in the room—John’s.
His voice was hoarse, the cut you’d given him had seriously injured his neck, and he looked somewhat funny with all the bandages around it. His eyes were darkened by heavy circles, and he had to pause before speaking again because his throat was burning.
“I was there three years ago on my first tour. It’s in the Altai Mountains of Kazakhstan. It’s nestled in a ridiculously hidden valley that’s…you know, inaccessible for normal people: extreme weather, uneven terrain. Something that would be impossible to reach for most folks, but probably looks like your training field number three.” He coughed as he talked.
“You sure?” Steve’s eyes narrowed, a glimmer of hope rising behind the exhaustion, but his jaw tightened with worry. He wanted to believe—he needed to believe—that John’s confirmation meant something real, something that could lead him to you. But doubt gnawed at him, a quiet fear lingering just beneath the surface, reminding him that this might still be another dead end. Or worse, it could lead to an end, one he was not ready to bear.
His fists clenched, his voice low and firm as he asked. “Are you certain?”
“Well…” John approached the screens and enlarged the map in front of him, showing it to everyone in the room. He tapped a point on it.
“Here. We could search for those files in the army from my first tour…” And as he spoke, Tony was already typing on the keyboard.
“But it should be here, look: secluded area, dense forests, jagged cliffs…Can I get a satellite view? Look at these buildings—sparse, abandoned Soviet-era infrastructure…see? And in winter? Dude, the place becomes even more desolate, with heavy snowstorms cutting it off completely from the outside world. Hey, Man in a Can, any chance you can overlay those X-rays or layer scans on the map?” He said, snapping his fingers at Tony.
Tony studied the map a bit longer, and under Steve’s expectant gaze, he frowned and ordered: “Cross-reference geological information with everything in Twelve’s archives. Don’t limit the search to her data only—look into her siblings, check the Winter Soldier’s files…Jarvis, search back and forth across 80 years of data.”
Bruce added, “Any chance we can get an energy scan below the surface? Whatever they’re developing, I don’t think it’s just there for a tour visit.”
Jarvis took less than a minute to complete the analysis.
“Sir, according to information found in files M001, M002, LocM001-X025-T29, and LocM001-X025-T31, test results were located in the indicated area.”
“M001 and 2?” Steve stood up immediately.
Those were the first two prototypes. He remembered you mentioning them when you told him your story: the ‘Apollo and Artemis’ siblings, the first successful models. When they began to fail, they created you and the rest of you.
“Run the analysis as we move.” Steve said, his fists tight and his eyes intense, as if he could see The Void itself before him. This was the first real lead they’d had, and the mystery of ghost town that didn’t even exist, added an unsettling layer—no one knew what they’d be facing.
But he didn’t give a fuck, even if it was hell itself, he would go to the deepest end of the abyss if that’s what it took to find you.
“Gear up. Moving out in 10.” He ordered, and as everyone started to move, he stopped Tony. “You stay here with Vis.” His expression was unwavering. “We need to keep the fort secure, safe. I need it cleaned when I’m back with her.”
Tony wanted to say something. He didn’t want to encourage Steve to pursue a ghost idea, but he just couldn’t muster a word. He patted Captain’s shoulder heavily and nodded.
“You sure?” Tony knew Steve was desperate, but he was also anxious, fearing Steve’s hopes might be raised, only to face the worst later. Tony brushed his hair back nervously. “Take Banner with you, then.”
“I’m sure.” For the first time in 18 days, Steve’s eyes held a glimmer of hope. “Vis and Wanda stay; I need the compound secure. Make them scan every last corner before we set foot out there.”
“Look,” Tony added solemnly, unable to help himself. He had to speak up. “It could be abandoned…or it could be more fortified than ever. We’ll need caution—and the element of surprise. If they suspect our arrival, they might vanish again…taking her with them.”
Or maybe she is already there, in a state that no one wants to think about. He thought to himself, not daring to make a comment about it.
“I know.” Steve’s gaze hardened as he looked around the room. Whether it was a ruin or a fortress, he would face whatever waited in The Void. He was ready to tear through every wall, every shadow, if it meant finding you.
“Ok.” Tony inhaled and forced a smile. “We’ll be ok.” His eyes fixed on Steve.
“We’ll be ok.” He repeated it, but he didn’t know who he was talking to—Steve or himself.
Steve didn’t say anything; he just nodded.
The Quinjet took flight in less than 10 minutes, with another ship following close behind. The team was geared up, and they weren’t going alone—the Strategic Operations Unit followed, fully armed with the latest tech, while Maria Hill and Tony Stark directed the operation from the Command Room.
The Unit was composed of the best military and special forces personnel: soldiers who had once served with S.H.I.E.L.D. or in elite units from around the world. They were humans who came just after the Avengers in strength and capability. And they were excited, determined. The Void was a legendary place, and they were eager to explore it.
Or tear it apart and burn it down to ashes and dirt if that’s what the Captain commands.
Steve sat in the back of the Quinjet, his mind a whirlwind.
There was an urge burning inside him, consuming him like wildfire: the desperate need to know that you were okay, that you were safe.
But alongside that, there was the crushing weight of the entire situation, the analysis you, Bruce, and Tony had pieced together days ago: Who took you? What dark, powerful organization had stolen you away? And what were they trying to achieve? Bruce had said they were close. That you were the missing piece in completing something monumental, something so massive it could render the enemy fearless, powerful enough not to fear the wrath of the Avengers anymore.
And that…was terrifying.
After defeating Thanos, the combined forces of the Avengers and Wakanda had been enough to prove to the world that they alone held the power to defend Earth.
But were they? Enough?
Because after all, power isn't just about brute strength or advanced technology; it is about control, strategy, and deception. The Avengers had faced gods, aliens, and everything the world had thrown at them, but this felt different.
This wasn’t a threat that announced itself with an army or a cosmic weapon. This was something calculated, something buried in shadows, pulling strings in the dark. And if there was one thing the Avengers weren’t particularly skilled at: navigating schemes or playing diplomatic and political games.
It was the kind of threat that could allow an organization to infiltrate so deeply, take one of their own without leaving a trace, and expose the Avengers as far less untouchable than the world believed.
And he, Steve Rogers, wasn’t as indestructible as he thought.
He had a weakness now, something that could shatter him entirely in the blink of an eye: You.
“Landing in four.” Sam announced from the pilot seat as the Quinjet began its descent, breaking through layers of dense clouds.
The scenery below unfolded like a haunting portrait.
It was exactly as John had described: hidden valleys carved from jagged rocks, hollowed mountains looming like forgotten sentinels, and a decaying forest cloaked in a heavy shroud of fog. Surrounded by high cliffs and dead ends mountains, almost impossible for common people to access. (And it was actually, looking really similar to Training Field 003 where the simulator portrayed a similar landscape.)
Everything seemed drained of life, abandoned, lost in time, cast in muted shades of gray and black, as if the place itself had given up—and every living thing within it too.
The streams of fog wove through the dried and skeletal trees, clinging to the ground like ghosts. Crumbling remnants of abandoned structures dotted the landscape: cracked walls and rusted metal consumed by time.
A biting chill seemed to seep through the Quinjet’s walls as they neared the ground. It felt as if they could be swallowed into this endless forgotten state, taken by the invisible hands of the oppressive atmosphere.
“Yeah, this really looks like…a ‘The Void’.” said Clint, stepping out of the Jet. “Whoever put the name definitely hit on the spot.”
Sam raised his eyebrow. “What are we, like in…Silent Hill?”
“Shush.” said Natasha. “The element of surprise is our only ally now. Any leads?” She pressed the comms. The complete team was on the other side, watching everything from the Command Room, scanning beyond their sight.
“Move forward.” Maria ordered. “Buildings at your twelve. I want complete silence. Team Alpha, take the right; Beta, take the left. Steve, you lead.”
“Got it.” Steve nodded. He noticed in the distance, nestled deep within the valley, an unnatural symmetry: rows of long-forgotten buildings that didn’t belong to nature’s chaos. It was subtle, almost hidden by the fog, but it was enough.
His jaw tightened.
This was the place.
“Gear up, and move.” He said, his voice low and steady, though his grip on the rail betrayed the tension surging through him. “We’re not leaving without answers.”
The team moved swiftly, like shadows. The jagged rocks and crumbling buildings provided perfect cover as they advanced, their movements silent, steps as light as feathers.
“Scan.” Steve ordered, his voice low but firm as he led the team deeper into the abandoned structures.
“What are we seeing? Or not seeing?” He pressed the comms, his gaze scanning the area with sharp precision.
Jarvis’s voice filtered into their earpieces. “Sir, a series of passages leading beneath the surface.”
“That’s a surprise.” Natasha chuckled. Typical.
“Looks like an underground stronghold.” Maria informed the team: “Seems like a water fortress. A helm, maybe? Dried out and abandoned.”
Steve’s jaw tightened as he glanced at the rest of the team.
“Let’s move.” He ordered.
The air seemed heavier as they pressed forward, entering what had once been the heart of the fortress. Everything around went stale and damp as they descended, the passage’s walls bearing cracks, rust, and faint traces of water lines that hinted at what the place had been before it fell into decay.
The deeper they went, the darker it became, the dim light from their gear casting eerie shadows across the ancient stone and metal.
It was a place that felt hollow, lifeless, but beneath the stillness, there was an unnerving sense of something waiting.
Steve raised his fist to signal a stop, and the rest of the team felt it too: they weren’t alone. There was a slight, almost undetectable sound in the thick air that ran through the place, something that only elite soldiers with hundreds of battles' worth of experience would recognize: someone was breathing around them.
“Sam.” Steve muttered, and the Falcon’s glasses started a laser scan around the place.
But before the results even came in, John, who was next to Sam, put a hand on his arm and lowered it.
“I don’t think we need that.” Walker said, barely above a whisper. When Sam removed his glasses, he saw it too, along with the rest of the team.
Eyes.
Lines and lines of people surrounded them, staring back at them with lifeless, empty gazes.
"Holy shit." said Sam and John at the same time.
“Attack from the nerds 2.0?” John grimaced.
“Stay sharp. Circle formation,” Steve ordered, clenching his fists around his shield. “Give me your best, and give them your worst. Got it?”
The eerie look on the enemy sent a cold shiver through everyone’s back. The team stayed silent for a moment, but when Steve’s commands dropped, they responded in unison with a roar.
The stillness shattered in an instant as the first wave of attackers surged forward.
“Engage!” Steve roared, his shield flying through the air and slamming into the nearest enemy with a thunderous crack before returning to his arm.
“Okay, to the dancefloor!” To his left, Sam launched into the air, his wings spreading wide as he maneuvered above the chaos. His goggles highlighted the attackers’ positions. “Commander, give me the source path. Where are these guys coming from?”
“Scanning…” Maria’s commands came through as Jarvis synchronized the analysis. Tony’s helmet illuminated as he synced all the data to the team’s gear.
“There’s some kind of base at your two o’clock, Sam,” Tony said as the heat map displayed the information. “Extremely low temperatures… Shit, what are you guys even fighting?” His expression darkened as the heat analysis became clearer.
“Gonna be hard to reach that two o’clock! They’re everywhere!” Sam shouted, firing his wing-mounted machine guns to clear a path below. One of the enemies leaped toward him, but Natasha’s knee struck first. She was a blur of lethal grace as she slipped between attackers.
“Wow, new toy?” Sam asked, spotting Natasha’s twin batons crackling with electricity as she took down two enemies at a time with each sweep.
“Keep moving! Don’t let them pin us down!” She called, her voice calm but sharp as she dodged an incoming strike and slammed her baton into an enemy’s temple. “Could use some help opening the line to two o’clock here!”
A chuckle came through the comms as Hawkeye stood back for a moment, his bowstring taut, stretched to its maximum capacity as he aimed for the target. The string was charged with an electrifying blue blast.
“Bruce?” Clint muttered as he loosed his fingers, sending an explosive-tipped arrow into the crowd ahead of the Hulk.
The blast tore through like a comet, breaking multiple enemy lines and clearing space. The Hulk charged through with a roar that shook the ground. He swung his massive fists in wide arcs, scattering attackers like leaves in a storm.
“Move!” commanded Natasha, leading the rest of the operations team as they tightened their formation, trying to push through and make it to the source.
Above them, Sam spotted reinforcements swarming in from the cliffs. “Guys, more incoming from the ridge!”
“More?!” John fought alongside Steve, his shield clashing against the attackers with raw force. “What do you mean, more? What is this? Like an army?!” he shouted, slamming his shield into one enemy before spinning and knocking another to the ground with a powerful kick.
“These are not regular soldiers,” said Maria through the comms, watching the live data analysis with a mix of nervousness and horror.
“No shit, really?” John replied. “Is like fighting an army of your finest tactical teams. I don’t think you see this on an everyday basis.”
“They just keep coming!” Steve replied, his voice strained as he deflected a strike aimed at his head and countered with a devastating blow to the chest of his attacker. “Tony, we need to know what’s at that source!”
“One sec.” Tony replied, commanding the screen with furious speed as he analyzed the scans. “Shit, I could really use your girlfriend’s powers right now. What the hell is in there? Something really powerful is blocking my signs.” He muttered while typing, overriding thousands of codes. “Commander, I think we’ve found what the lens from Steve’s fake brother-in-law was leading us to…”
“Okay, Jarvis, get me Robert Lin. NOW.” Tony ordered, his voice sharp as he broke through more passcodes. “I need him to reproduce that same cringy sound that woke my tech team from their Walking Dead state. And Steve, don’t try breaking through the entire World War Z wall… just send Sam over. I’ll have the command ready; he just needs to plug in.”
“You heard that?” Steve asked Sam as he slammed his shield into another enemy. Seeing the Falcon take flight toward the destination, Steve commanded with unwavering determination, “We push through. Everyone fights, no one falls.”
“Bruce, block them!” Steve shouted.
Bruce growled in response, grabbing a massive boulder and hurling it into the gap between the team and the incoming wave, creating a temporary barrier.
But the moment the rock landed, a sharp white light sliced it clean in half, the massive stone splitting as if it were paper.
As the dust and debris settled, a figure stormed into the battle, moving faster than the eye could follow, a cold blade weaving through the air in deadly arcs.
“Watch it!” John shouted, raising his shield for the first strike.
A muted sound echoed as the blade clashed against the shield, sending a shockwave that threw everyone nearby to the ground. John hit the ground hard, his arms numb and nearly unable to hold his shield.
“Shit…” he muttered through clenched teeth as he struggled to stand, but his face went pale when he saw you. Standing there, your eyes were cold, unrecognizable—hollow and devoid of emotion.
“Um… Steve?” John muttered as you spun the blade with an elegant yet deadly precision.
“Step back.” Steve replied, his voice thick with pain and fear he could barely suppress.
“I’ve got this.” His gaze met yours, and in that moment, his heart broke.
The End but TBC.

This lovely art from @aerequets really aligned with one of my HCs about how Yor's past will be revealed to us:
The three of them unexpectedly meet at one mission. Maybe Twilight was trying to find information, Yor was doing her mission, and Yuri was suspecting something fishy at the SSS higher ups. Or something like that
After the first commotion, which somehow resolved quickly because the three of them coorperate, Yuri aim his gun towards Twilight, full with hatred because this man bertrayed his sister. Twilight was full with guilt. And Yor felt her world crumble because the two most important men in her world were not what she think they were.
Nevertheless, Yor tried to separate them. And yet both men were so stubborn.
They were so focused into their fight that they didn't realized reinforcement came, until Yor step up in front of them and was severely injured protecting them.
Both men finally direct their anger towards the reinforcement whose goals was to eliminate any eye witness.
Fierce battle ensues, but of course our heroes managed to survive (barely, in Yor's case).
Twilight and Yuri then cooperate and rush to help the most important woman in their life.
Twilight told Yuri to find transportation, while he tried his best to stop his wife's profuse bleeding.
Yor gently held his hand, and whispered, "Don't abandon Anya..." which Twilight's responded with, "No. I will never." And in his desperation he told her that he will finally took a holiday from his job, and they will go to the apple festival at neighbour town (or any other family activity), which Yor responded with, "I'd love that."
Twilight smiled and warned his wife to take a deep breath cause his next action would hurt like hell.
And indeed it was.
The bleeding slowed down but enduring the pain was too much for weakened Yor and she passed out.
Twilight bit his lips to stop himself from crying, when he hugged and covered his wife with his jacket, whispering, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry....I'm sorry...."
Yuri came with functional vehicle and all of them rushed to medical facility.
At the hospital / hidden medical facility (maybe WISE's), Twilight was sitting, waiting with 'dead look' on his face. (For once he cannot do anything. For once all he can do was sit and wait.)
Yuri shoved a cup of hot coffee in front of his face, and said "My sister is strong. She managed to survive injury this severe back then, of course she will survive again this time."
Twilight was shocked to hear that. And we get a bit of Yor's flashback via Yuri's POV.
Little Yuri was sitting at the side of his sister's hospital bed. At that time he was told that Yor got an accident during her job/being mugged etc. And little Yuri cried his tears of joy when Yor finally opened her eyes. He took care of her. And after she finally able to stand back on her feet, Yuri studied extra hard, and got accepted at the Uni at 14 y.o.
Twilight was surprised to hear the story.
The doctor came out and tell the men that Yor has survived her surgery, and will be closely monitored at the ICU.
Just when Twilight want to see her, Handler came and asked him to finish the interrupted mission. So he went with several WISE agents.
He succeed in finishing the mission, and returned to the hospital.
Upon entering Yor's room, he saw Yuri snoring at the sofa. Anya curled at Yor's side. And his wife was sleeping with so many monitor cables, IV lines, oxygen mask attached to her.
He carefully held her hand and whispered, "Yor, please come back to us. To me."
Yor was dreaming about her past. When she was living happily during childhood, Yuri's birth, her parent's death. Her survival during her first years after her parent's death. Her meeting Garden. Her harsh training. Her first kill. (All of these will make our heart shatters without a doubt 😭💔💔)
And during her harshest days, she will always remembered her father's words, "Remember the warmth of your family. Your home."
Her father's words still echoing when Yor finally opened her eyes.
She looked around and deduced that apparently she was still alive. Especially since she can feel the warmth around her.
At the sofa, Yuri was sleeping soundly. Curled right next to her was Anya. And the one holding her hand was her husband.
She smiled, and with all the power she had at the time, she carressed her husband's hand with her thumb.
Loid jolted awake. And in his disoriented state, his eyes widen, and come close to his wife, whispered, "Yor?"
Yor rasped, "I'm..... home...."
Loid cried out of happines, and kissed her saying, "Welcome home." (And we will be bawling hard over this panel for sure 😭😭😭😭)
#spy x family#yor forger#loid forger#yuri briar#twiyor#sxf headcanon#i want to know Yor's past so bad#i also want more Yor badass moments#i also want my hurt/comfort#aaaakkkhhhh#😭😭😭#sorry#don't mind me#please carry on

Hello there! 🤩
I am sooo happy for this event, thank you so much for it! 😍
I would like to request something a bit whumpy/angsty with the prompts 36 and 48 🥺
Thank yoouuu 🥰
Thank you so much for sending in your prompt! Here's the next chapter!!
The Commander and the Civvie, Chpt. 4
Fic Main | Previous Chapter
Pairing: Commander Fox x female reader
Rating: T (Teen)
Warnings: Mentions of violence and attempted murder, hospital situation, injuries, coma
Prompt 36. “You know you can always talk to me.”
Prompt 48. “I don’t want you to die.”
Beep. Beep. Beep.
You never meant for any of this to happen.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Why? Why did your life have to be the one that was so messed up? Why was it you had to suffer the consequences? And now it wasn't even you, but the Commander. Maybe if you had warned him sooner. Maybe if you had opened up when he asked…
Beep. Beep. Beep.
As though being in the ICU wasn’t bad enough, the chair provided in the GAR medical facility was not conducive for having visitors. It was probably the most uncomfortable seat you've ever sat in. However no matter what anyone said, you refused to leave the Commander's side. After all, he was there because of you, he took the shot that was meant for you.
No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t look away from his fragile state. He looked so different from the Marshall Commander you’d come to know. Seeing him lying there, was a lot to handle, your worries, your guilt, your fear he’d never wake up, it all kept piling on top of you.
“It's not your fault.” Thorn offered, doing his best to console you, even if it didn't do much.
“How can you say that? He's in a coma because of me.”
Thorn shifted in front of you keeping his eyes locked with yours as he kneeled, his hands engulfing yours while they rested on your lap, “Mesh'la, how is Fox defending you from some psycho with a blaster your fault?”
“He wouldn't have gotten injured, much less been there if he just let me grab a cab by myself. If he just left like he usually did instead of trying to be chivalrous…”
“Then you'd be lying there instead of Fox, or worse, and you know if you ended up here, Fox would’ve been very upset. Not only would we have lost the most attractive girl in his office, but he would have to do all the paperwork himself.” He smirked, hoping to get you to crack even the tiniest smile, but instead there was a single tear that welled up. He gently cupped your cheek wiping away the drop,
“Mesh’la, listen this is what we were made for, to defend and protect the citizens of the Republic. That includes you.”
“Doesn't make it any easier.”
Thorn nodded he knew things weren't as simple as he wished it to be. Maker, he'd love it if it was a simple mugging, and maybe they should've told you more about what was really going on, yet somehow neither Fox nor he were ready or able to tell you.
“Fox, I don't get it. What could she have done to make herself a target?”
“That's the question, isn't it? Are you sure the target is Starlight?”
“Without a doubt, I double checked. One of the CUP officers was even able to get a puck recruiting mercenaries for the hit. Here.” Thorn pulled out the puck from his utility belt and pressed the button. There was no mistake, it was your face floating in the holo display.
Fox rubbed his forehead, “Alright. Let me talk with her first. Let me see if she has an idea as to why the Black Sun would want her dead.”
“They said dead or alive.”
“Is that really important, Thorn?”
“Sorry.”
Fox shook his head, “No. It's mine. I… I just can't imagine what she did or who she pissed off. I mean she certainly has a mouth on her, so it's possible she talked back to someone she shouldn't have. Ugh.” Fox rubbed his face. He took one of the new cookies you had brought in and thoughtfully chewed on it. “Okay, leave the puck with me. I'll talk to her. She's my secretary, so I’ll handle it. And in the meantime, do a background check on her. I want a thorough check, leave no stone unturned.”
Thorn nodded leaving Fox's office. It was still an hour before you were supposed to come in. This is not what he needed to deal with especially after the attempted kidnapping of the Chancellor.
“Step back!”
You jerked back to the present and watched in shock as the medics pushed you aside, reacting to Fox's heart which had started to beat erratically. Thorn held you back, his hands holding your arms, as you watched in horror while they shocked him back to a normal sinus rhythm.
Once Fox was stable and your own heart felt like it started up again, you finally found your voice, “What's happening, Patch?” You asked the Coruscant Guard medic.
“When the Commander jumped in front of you to protect you, taking the shot, the bolt
missed his heart by a millimetre. Which is about this much." He held up his thumb and forefinger showing a minimal space in between. “Because of how close the shot was, the electrical current jarred his heart out of rhythm. His body is doing its best to reset itself. I know it looks scary but he’ll be okay, that’s why we're here. Ready to jump in and reset his heart. Alright, love? I promise everything will be fine.”
Thorn gently rubbed your arms, as you nodded. “See, he'll be fine, mesh'la. He'll be fine.”
You turned in Thorn's arms hugging him, needing warmth and comfort.
“Hey, Starlight, can we talk for a second.”
Even though your working relationship had gotten better over the past month, you weren’t exactly buddy-buddy with the Commander, at least not yet.
“Commander?” You stood at the entrance of his office, watching as he motioned for you to take a seat. “Am I getting fired?” You smirked.
Fox shook his head, a slight chuckle escaping from his helmet. “No, Starlight. You're not getting fired. I just wanted to check in to see how you're doing and how you're finding the job. See if there's anything you want to discuss?”
“Oh. Oh well let's see. Everything is going well. My main concern is still the filing system. It's getting better but if I could stay late or even come in on a weekend to organize and arrange it chronologically and order of severity that would help.”
He cleared his throat, “I'm sure we can arrange something. Um… and aside from work, your personal life… is good?”
That question shocked you, “Since when do you ask about my personal life?”
“Well, you've been here a few weeks, I think it's about time I learned a little more about you. Anything I should know?”
Your brows furrowed, “I feel like you're trying to ask me something specific.”
He let out a sigh, rubbing the back of his neck, he lifted his helmet and set it aside looking into your eyes.
You felt your breath catch in your chest, you knew Fox would be good looking, after all you've seen other Clone troopers but… there was something so much more attractive about Fox. Maybe it was the gray streak in his hair, or maybe it was the way his eyes bore into yours with wisdom and determination. The sharp chiselled jawline that could cut glass didn't pass your notice either. You swallowed as you looked at each other.
“Starlight, you know you can always talk to me.”
“I'm sorry Commander, I’m not sure what you want me to say..”
Fox paused, breaking eye contact and blinking a few times. How was he going to tell her, a civilian who clearly had no idea the danger she was in, that a hit had been taken out on her. “No. Um … you know what, let's talk more later.”
You tilted your head as you looked at him, you wanted to drag out this conversation longer, just so you could keep looking at his handsome face, “You sure?”
“Yeah. Let's just get going with the day and catch up at the end.”
Your hand rested on the armchair, as you simply nodded.
“I should've told you the truth.” You whispered, now that Thorn had left your side to handle things at the office, “I should've told you my life was a mess.”
You held his hand, the guilt from not opening up to Fox when you had the chance weighed heavily on your heart and mind. And now you wondered if you'd ever get the chance.
“Please. Please don't die” you whispered, “I don't want you to die.” You wiped a tear, wondering if what you felt for him right now was pure guilt or was it something more. “I'll explain everything if you wake up. So please. Wake up.”
You stood, removing your hand from his, but instantly missed his warmth. You gently ran your hands over your arms, comforting yourself a little, as you headed towards the window by his bed looking out over Coruscant. Taking in a deep breath, wondering when this weight of guilt would leave you.
“Starlight…”
Your breath caught in your throat as you slowly turned to see Fox awake and smirking.
Send Commander Fox a prompt to continue the story!

Ch 16
Scars and Souvenirs
Summary: Sy and his lady both retire from the army but not before tragedy befalls Sy. He slowly tries to adjust to life again on their ranch.
Pairing: Sy / OFC
Word count: 2,206
Rating: Adult only no one under 18
Warnings: Description of physical abuse, death, torture, medical description
Five days had passed since the rescue and Sy had managed to talk the hospital into putting Deb and Mike in neighboring rooms when they were out of ICU. Mike had surgery to put pins and plates in his arm to fix it and he was doing well.
Debbie was just taken down to surgery for her knee.They told Sy they didn't know how long the surgery would take because of the damage done. Walter agreed to stay at the hospital while the guys went to ‘clean up’.
~~~~~~☆~~~~~~
Sy wiped the blood from his hands on a cloth. He'd spent the last two hours torturing the men who hurt Debbie and Mike. They had received the same injuries and wounds in return plus some payback from Sy. “This is your last chance to tell me everything I want to know or I start removing body parts.” He leaned into Marko's face. He was one of two who'd hurt Debbie so severely. “I'm going to start with your fingernails then….” He paused and shook his head. “Fuck that, I don't have time for that. I'm gonna start with your balls.” He put on a pair of black gloves and pulled his kbar from its sheath.
“No, no please! I'll tell you everything!”
Will Shaw stepped closer with a recording device and true to his word the man told them every last detail of the gang and its affairs as well as police involvement in three states. The whole ordeal had taken about three hours and since Walt nor the surgeon hadn't called it meant Debbie was still in surgery.
They all stepped out of the room and sealed the door. August had found a remote abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town, just like a damn spy would, to use as their holding facility. “I have to get back to the hospital,” Sy told them.
They all nodded in agreement but it was Geralt that spoke. Let's leave them here to see what it felt for Debbie and Mike. Once we find out that he told the truth we will decide what to do with them.” He held up his hand to Stop August. “I know your vote, we all do but it's not a decision for now.”
“It's the right decision,” August muttered under his breath. Sy chuckled and punched August’s shoulder. They cleaned all traces of blood off themselves and headed back to the hospital stopping along the way to pick up some stuff for Mike.
~~~~~~◇~~~~~~
Mike tensed when the door swung open but relaxed when he saw Sy come in with the others. “Any word? “ Sy asked Walt.
“Nothing,” he shook his head.
Sy sat a bag of stuff in Mike's lap. “Thought this might help ya pass the time a little faster in here.”
Mike grinned a bit. “Thanks.” He opened the bag and found chips, candy, a book, a few magazines and Sy’s tablet. He figured the kid could at least play some games on it. “Thanks, this will help a lot.”
“Oh and I brought this, “ Sy took out a new smartphone. “Your old one wasn't salvageable. Hopefully you had back ups for most of it.”
“Thanks Sy, you shouldn't have done that. It will be a while before I can get a job to pay you back.”
He shook his head and laughed. “When your all healed I intend to put you back to work on the farm. I mean if you want to.”
“Yes!” redness seeped into his cheeks, embarrassed at how quickly he answered.
“Damn, why do they all like working for Sy? He's strict as hell and doesn't put up with laziness yet it's always ‘Cap is the best guy I ever worked for.’ ‘Syverson’s unit is the one I want to stay in.’”
August mocked.
“All?” Mike questioned.
“In the Army,” Sy explained. “That's where we all met. And obviously August still harbors some jealousy.”
Mike and Walt laughed while the others smirked. “I'm not jealous!” August growled.
Sy sat down on the bed next to Mike and started flipping through the magazines they brought. “Your protests say you are,” he continued to tease. “What the fuck? How did this get in here?” He held up the naked centerfold from some skin mag.
“What?” August asked innocently. “He's right handed and his cast is on the left.” Sy's glare of disapproval didn't falter. “You said he needed to relax and de-stress! Should I have hired a hooker?”
Geralt cringed, Napoleon face palmed, Will laughed and Walter did his best to hide his smirk. Sy rolled up the magazine and stood up taking the 3 steps it took to reach August and began to hit him with it. “He's sixteen you asshole. No you shouldn't hire him a hooker!”
They all laughed, including Mike who also protested. “I don't need to pay for it! It's not like when you were a kid.”
That time Sy did laugh as he stopped hitting August. August turned and eyed Mike. “What?”
“You know back in horse and buggy days women were more modest in their floor length skirts and bonnets. You had to drag yourself out from behind the plow mule, all stinky and gross and you could only take a bath once a week..” Mike continued innocently.
Sy laughed loudly at the look on August's face. “How fuckin old do you think I am?”
“90?” Mike smirked. Quick as a flash grabbed the rolled up paper from Sy and popped (gently) Mike on the back of the head with it.
“And after I got you something you could use to relax, “ August huffed but plopped down in a chair next to the bed.
There was a knock on the door and Napoleon opened it to reveal a nurse. She scanned the room until she found the man she was looking for. “Mr. Syverson the surgeon wants to speak with you. Please follow me.” Sy followed her and Napoleon joined him.
She led them downstairs to the surgery floor to the double doors that led to the orthopedics surgery suite. “I'll tell him you're waiting.”
It was just a moment later Dr. Stinebrenter was standing before him. “How is she? Were you able to fix her knee?”
“I know it's been a seven hour surgery but the knee was even worse than we thought when we got in there.” He stepped over to a nurse's station and motioned for Sy to follow before typing something and showing him
an x-ray. “This was taken the day she arrived.” He scrolled to a new one. “This was taken just before we started surgery. You see how the head of the femur and the tibula look cracked but intact and the same with the patella.”
Sy nodded, “you said you were gonna try everything you could to avoid a total knee replacement because she is so young.” He chewed on his lip.
Stinebrenter nodded. “When we opened her leg and moved the tissue and muscle chunks of the tibia and femur heads broke off and the patella just crumbled. What I did was put a cage around the tib and fib heads. They will have to stay on six to nine weeks to allow the bone to heal so I can try to put a plate on them both for support. So that will be her next surgery. If that doesn't work then we will have to do a total knee replacement. I did have to use an artificial patella. There was no saving it.”
“She has a spiral fracture of her femur. I put plates and screws in it to hold the bone in place as it heals.” Sy was regretting not cutting the assholes balls off today and choking him with them. “We are going to bring her completely out of sedation so Neuro can do a full assessment and make sure there are no deficits. She will be in a lot of pain but I wanted to ask if you wanted to be with her when it happens?“
“Hell yes,” Sy nodded.
~~~~~~♡~~~~~~
Pain was the only thing that existed the second she became conscious. Suddenly everything came flooding back. The kidnapping, torture, fear, and pain. She screamed and thrashed around trying to break free and get away. Hands were touching her, holding her down making her fight harder when his voice finally broke through the chaos and cloudiness. Her head turned to his voice. “Sy?”
He grabbed her hand and kissed her forehead. .”I'm here sugar. You're safe now. I've got you. They will never hurt you again.”
She quit fighting and clung to his arm, trembling. “Mike?”
“Is safe and resting in the room next door. “
“You?” She rasped.
“Me, what sugar?” He asked, confused.
“You ok?”
She had been through hell and she was asking about him and the look in her eyes was so sincere and compassionate that it shattered the wall of strength he'd put up. He felt the flood of tears slip down his face and soak into the cotton of his t-shirt and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't stop it.
She tugged his arm and he willingly crumbled to the bed. “Lay with me baby. Hold me.”
Sy shook his head no. “Don't want to hurt you.”
She looked to the doctor who called in a nurse for assistance. He knew what she wanted. They carefully moved her closer to the right-side of the bed allowing her left leg to remain on the surgery wedge so it was elevated. She held her hands up as much as she could motioning for Sy. He looked to the doctor in question.
“It's fine Mr. Syverson. It will be good for you both.”
“But I might hurt her,” he argued. “I never wanna hurt you,” he told her.
She knew he was barely keeping it together. “You won't, baby. It's the right shoulder and my leg is up on a wedge so you won't hit it. Please,” She whined.
He relented and laid down next to her breathing in her scent. Even over the smell of hospital cleaners and astringents she still smelled like a fresh, spring day after the rain. Like home and love and safety. He pressed a kiss to her head and hugged her to his chest as gently as he could. It took her moment to find a comfortable position but she settled against his shoulder and chest, his head resting on hers. Once the doctor and nurse left the room he lifted her chin so that she was looking into his eyes the best she could. “We got em sugar. They won't hurt anyone again.”
Tears filled her eyes and she clung to Sy's shirt. “Jennings? The detective?”
“Currently being held by the CIA in protective custody. He's needed to testify in a few cases to shut down what they can of the trafficking ring. The same for Mike's old man, though he managed to get hurt before the police got to him.” He was cut off when she pressed a kiss to his lips.
“Please tell me you had back up Austin. That you didn't risk your own life.”
His eyebrows pinched together with confusion. “What exactly do you remember about the rescue, sugar?”
“Hearing gunshots and then the most beautiful sound I've ever heard in my life; your voice. Then nothing.”
It made sense she couldn’t see because her face was so busted and bruised. “I called the pack.”
She'd met Will Shaw and Napoleon Solo on a mission in Iraq but she'd only heard stories about the legendary Geralt Rivi and August Walker. “They're here? All of them?”
He nodded. “We've been taking shifts with Mike making sure he's never alone. I spend most of my time by your side but when I go check on him two of them sit with you.”
“How long have…”
“Five days. Five of the longest days of my life, praying that you would come back to me.” He cut her off.
“I'm sorry,” She said pulling her bottom lip between her teeth and wincing as it pulled at stitches there.
“Don't, you have nothing to apologize for, Debbie. They hurt you!”
“It's my fault,” her eyes filled with tears. “I was distracted.” She traced over the lettering of his t-shirt to try to stop the tremors running through her body.
“This is not your fault and I won't let you think it was,” his voice was deep, firm, and commanding. “The ones who set this up Holmes, Jennings, they caused what happened to you and Mike. S18, dirty cops, it just all aligned in a horrible way.” He pressed a kiss to her lips. “You need rest, sleep my darling. “
“But..” She tried to protest.
“Rest love.”
“Not tired,” She pouted.He watched her eyes drift closed as she spoke.
AREPH Main Facility - Eddy POV
Tallis was brought to the facility shortly after Round 7.
While his companion, the guard, Hayate, was dragged unconscious to the lower high-security floors that Eddy had yet to attain access to, Tallis was immediately transferred to the ICU. Usually, this space was reserved for injured workers, but Tallis was an exception. He was placed in the same bed that Eddy had been vacated from after a long rest and recovery following its near-death encounter with the target Solei. Or... whatever they were now. Eddy wasn't certain. It was still set on the idea that it could save them and bring them home after such a long absence.
While Eddy was slowly integrated back into the field, they lingered in Tallis's room during the long days. At first, they merely observed him; a real Alien Stage contestant, up close! It was a marvel. He was marked for death by his loss against the contestant Daiki with her edgy wit and charm, but AREPH must've had bigger plans.
Maybe they brought Eddy a friend after all this time. They hadn't had a friend for a very long time. Not since... not since him.
Eddy tried not to think too much about Sebastian most days. Some days they allowed themselves to look at his baby pictures and smile and tear up.
Tallis was a lot - well, bigger than Sebastian was, but he worked well as a friend all the same. Eddy clumsily re-braided his hair whenever his braids loosened in his unresponsive state. It checked Tallis's IVs and the bandages on his midsection, one for the first bullet (it definitely got him good, but only pierced the fatty tissue of his side) and another for the second, which had pierced his abdomen. The aliens who tended to Tallis's health joked that Eddy might as well be their boss, seeing as it was there even more than they were.
It read case files to Tallis to stimulate his mind, ate meals in his presence and told him that he would love the pudding from the caf once he woke up, studied his calloused fingers (how did they get so rough?) and gently wiped his face and neck with a wet cloth every now and then to keep him clean. When one day, Tallis was transported to the lower levels where Eddy couldn't go, it was sad to see its new best friend go. Waiting for him to wake up felt like it was taking forever.
When he re-emerged a few weeks later, he was still asleep - kept in a medically induced coma, the doctors told Eddy, for his health. They told him he should wake soon and put him in one of their medical observation rooms. Eddy couldn't braid Tallis's hair anymore, as it had been buzzed sometime when he was gone, but they could resume their usual routine.
Until Tallis did finally wake a few nights after Eddy monitored Round 16 to watch for Aurien and Solei.
And Tallis was not happy.
They got past the initial awkwardness after Tallis threw things at them the night he woke up and spit in their face. Tallis must've realized relatively quickly that he was surrounded by aliens and his best bet was to let the only other human stick around.
He rejected Eddy's friendly gestures for a solid week. He pushed away the warm washcloths and refused to eat much of the food Eddy offered him despite his gaunt, sunken appearance. The only times he addressed Eddy directly (or anyone, really) was to ask questions.
Where am I? The AREPH facility. Where's the facility? I'm so sorry, I can't tell you that! How am I alive? The guard saved you - I'm glad he did, too! Where is he, then? Undergoing treatment in the lower levels, then he'll probably be questioned. Are you going to question me? Soon, yes, we think you might have information pertinent to our investigations.
Tallis's jaw ticked at those words, and Eddy knew he knew what that meant.
Tallis had ties to high-profile figures.
(And that was the only reason he still lived, not because his life had any worth to anyone, but because he had information on the people who really mattered in the eyes of others.)
Which brought them to their first compromise.
Eddy wasn't technically allowed to show Tallis any information regarding Season 39 of Alien Stage. He was supposed to be in the dark.
But it broke Eddy's heart to reject him any information on his friends, Tov and Himei. He cared about them. He had a human connection with them, like Eddy had a human connection with Sebastian once upon a time.
"I'll be your friend if you tell me if they're okay," Tallis said ever so quietly one night from his bed, eyes wide and teary. "Just tell me if they're alive. Tell me how many of my friends are still alive."
And Eddy broke.
"Tov," Eddy whispered in his ear so no sound systems would pick up on it. "Himei, and all the others who won their rounds before you, all but Vera. Khoi." Tallis's eyes fluttered shut. "Lark, Akane, Jae, Lang, and Onyx."
Tallis's throat caught on a harsh swallow. "No Castor?"
Eddy hesitated, wishing not to have to be the one to confirm it.
"No Castor," it murmured, shrinking away when Tallis's face briefly crumpled, a single tear released from his eye. Then he wiped his face with his blanket like a small child might and forced a stoic look upon his face, though his lips still trembled.
"Tell me," Tallis said shakily, "who wins the next row. If you can."
Eddy couldn't turn him down again after that.
"I can."
AREPH had different plans.
Eddy didn't have to tell him one thing, because for Rounds 17 and 21, Tallis was placed on a chair in the observation room with wires and electrodes attached to his head. Eddy and a few others had already taken a few cracks each at getting Tallis to talk about his classmates and he had thus refused.
"Is this necessary?" Eddy whispered to the small alien named Yakun, chewing on the inside of their cheek behind their facemask. Tallis's face was nearly green with sick as the countdown to Tov's round whittled down, his friend about to meet the fate she was destined for either way.
Eddy hoped she won, for Tallis's sake and their own preferences. She was Eddy's favorite contestant. She was radiant.
"It is," Yakun told it. "If he won't tell us about his connections, we'll learn ourselves."
Tallis had already been irritable and jittery since he woke up from his coma. Now, he was downright mercurial as the round progressed live on a projector before him. He shook violently in his seat from the beginning till the end. When Lark hit the floor, he covered his eyes, his mouth moving in what could be some silent prayer. He only removed his hands when the announcer bellowed Tov's name.
Round 21 was worse. Like Round 17, Tallis's friend took the early lead and held it throughout, but also like Round 17, there was a wrench thrown into it. Instead of Lark falling to the ground, it was Himei, forced down by Noora. When Noora started raining punches down on Himei, Tallis, who had already been anxious the whole performance mouthing "something is wrong" promptly burst into silent tears, biting down on his fingers as Himei was hurt. The gunshot piercing Noora's neck almost seemed like a relief to him, making his teeth unclench from his flesh, dark bite marks left in their wake.
Eddy hated it.
That night, Tallis was utterly defeated, pale and shivering. He let Eddy clean his face, or maybe more accurately, he had no energy to resist it. He let them steal an extra blanket from an unoccupied room and put it on Tallis's bed.
Eddy watched over him that night, eyes fixated on his sleeping form, pierced by the familiar ache that came with connection.
Sebastian's pictures felt like they were burning against Eddy's leg where they rested in its pocket.
Not much more than a week later, Himei's long black curls were falling to the floor with each rhythmic snip of the scissors.
Daiki was dead. Himei had outlasted her. She won the stupid fucking game she was playing against herself.
But with every photoshoot and interview that came afterwards deeming Himei a member of the Elite Eight, declaring her better than Daiki, pitting her against Tov whose points count loomed ahead of her, Himei knew the truth.
Every time she glimpsed herself in the mirror and saw her bruised, sore face, she knew the truth.
Every time she laid eyes on Cirrus, whether in a magazine, on a billboard, or at mealtimes, she knew.
She didn't win.
She'd already lost, regardless of the outcome.
The morning of Round 24, she woke with a heavy heart.
She needed to see Tov.
Tagging time! Tov belongs to @ivanttakethis; Daiki belongs to @daiki1k; Sebastian belongs to @sotogalmo; Lark and Noora belong to @kamersona; Cirrus belongs to @cirrusoftheclouds. Everyone else is pretty much mentioned in passing, so I won't tag those people and spam their notifs, lol.
Proponents of capitalism often talk about the system’s “efficiency.” Yet time and time again, we see the system’s wastefulness. This can directly threaten people’s lives, as we now see with the shortage of intravenous (IV) fluids in the United States. Intravenous fluid serves as an essential, often lifesaving component of medical care. Particularly when patients have forms of systemic infection called sepsis, urgent and adequate administration of IV fluid has been shown to decrease mortality. But isn’t IV fluid just basically salt and water? Yes. So shouldn’t it be easy to produce and get to patients who need it? Yes — at least one would think. Unfortunately, it is not that simple in the U.S. healthcare system. Damage to a key facility during Hurricane Helene has led to a nationwide shortage, leaving doctors and nurses rationing treatments and postponing certain procedures. Really, an IV Fluid Shortage? How did we get to this point? To understand the situation, we have to start with some background. The U.S. IV fluid market is primarily controlled by four companies: Baxter International, B. Braun Medical, ICU Medical, and Fresenius Kabi. Baxter alone is responsible for about 60 percent of the market, while B. Braun Medical covers another 23 percent. This consolidation has led to a monopolized supply chain that is both vulnerable to disruption and constrained by the low profitability of IV fluids, which means their production is not prioritized in a system built to put profit over health and well-being. It may be surprising, but according to the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), certain IV fluids have actually been in shortage for years, with reports dating back to 2018. Amid this ongoing shortage, Hurricane Helene further strained the supply chain by damaging a Baxter International plant in North Carolina, which produced critical solutions such as dextrose and Lactated Ringer’s, two different types of IV solutions. As a result, hospitals are receiving far less than their typical shipments. Meanwhile, Baxter estimates that the facility won’t return to full capacity until the end of the year. And it gets far more convoluted. As noted in a recent post from Frontline Medics, under the U.S.’s abysmal healthcare system, hospitals procure their supplies through group purchasing organizations (GPOs), which buy medical supplies in bulk. Today, 97 percent of all U.S. hospitals rely on GPOs, and the majority of these supplies are purchased through just four dominant GPOs. These GPOs often secure “sole-source contracts,” meaning they contract with a single supplier for certain products, such as IV fluids, which increases the risk of widespread shortages when supply chain disruptions occur. On top of this, the GPOs charge fees to secure their sole-source contracts, and some hospital executives benefit directly from maintaining specific GPO deals. In addition to GPOs, a few large companies monopolize the storing and distribution of the purchased products. The problem goes beyond the risk of shortages, though, because even when this system is functioning at its best, these “middleman” organizations are taking large cuts. A New York Times investigation in 2013 found that the billing processes for IV fluids were so convoluted and shrouded in black box contracts that they were extremely difficult to trace. Ultimately, these dynamics lead to higher healthcare costs; a bag of IV fluid that costs pennies to make can end up being billed for hundreds of dollars on a hospital bill.
INTERGALACTIC CRIME UNIT MALFUNCTION (I CUM) PART 1: OPENING
The Mystryan Supreme Court usually hired several young clerks to handle the administrative aspect of the court that the judges and other court staffers just unable to take care of due to their limited bandwidth. But it led to something disastrous as one of the intern turned out to be infected by mind-controlling parasite 1 mid-way his internship. The parasite, sent by the Dallon Ultranationalist, one of the separatist group in the Mystryan solar system empire, caused the young clerk to instead transported 250 canister filled with criminal alien essence through intergalactic portal to Northern America, Earth rather than their designated detainment place at Prixius Maximum Security Prison.
The canister scattered across North America and the impact of the drop to Earth's atmosphere caused the alien essence mostly instantly released upon landing. But it's not like it's scattered randomly as the parasite already forced the young clerk to do some research and then sifted through the young clerk's analysis over Earth's land mass and decided the coordinate of each landing, targeted mostly where the dominant Human, the male population in the patriarchal or male first system, mostly congregated. The essence, upon crash landing, then quickly travelled around its perimeter and directly filled the closest person they can find.
The aliens quickly find themselves in possession of human bodies and quickly realized that this might be the start of their new exploit as human are inferior beings blessed with abundant resource that can be easily exploited. Lucky for them, they ended up inside a bunch of what human society would deem as the more superior human as they are bigger, stronger and assert more control over the rest of the normal human.
The Gym
There were around 30+ canisters dropped in the Californian gym where a lot of fitness influencer gathered and also where some people with shady wealth worked out in best-in-class facility.
The aliens are originally in different species with varied shape, but the ICU condensed them into glowing energy sphere when they captured those alien criminals and locked them inside the canisters. Upon landing right in the parking yard of the gym, these spheres started to shoot themselves into the closest people they can find, filling out and taken over the unassuming bodies that just went about their day not knowing a bunch of extraterrestrial life form crash landed nearby.
The entire gym started to convulse wildly and screamed in agony when those spheres forced their way inside of them. In just under 5 minutes, all of the gymgoers already taken over as the essence basically enveloped the human brain and seize the bodily control from capturing the vessel's brain
The frat bros
In the other end of the Coast and a little bit more on the South, specifically Florida, 50+ canisters dropped on the backyard of a frat house known as Pike. The university is practically lit with glowing lights as there's a university-wide music festival held. The spheres practically used the rave music festival as a cover for their takeover. The glowing lights, the mostly high party goers, the loud music that muffled scream of being taken over, all the unassuming men quickly fall victim to the extraterrestrial being that want to use their body as mere puppet to hide themselves from the surely incoming intergalactic crime unit
The military base
These are more sporadic, but the coordinate placed a couple canisters in a couple military bases and its surrounding town throughout North America. Unlucky for the base and town populace, the parasite that controlled the young clerk already allocated its fellow species to these coordinates and despite not having too much canisters dropped in their area, the infectious parasitic alien will quickly takeover the entire military base and town as they will use their human vessel to spread around and seize control of the critical military infrastructure
These alien are more than thrilled to start their conquest upon Earth's populace and their resources as they finally made aware after tapping their human vessel's brain how much advantage they have to reside inside bunch of men with strong, hulking figure having wide range of network to advance their interest
Hey everyone, a new start for a new series while I tried to gather what I can write for my original piece. I actually want to explore deeper of each of these pictures so expect some heavy edits on this post later so maybe don't reblog it right away?
