Trolls - varies amongst the tribes but hair length and thickness is a good indication of their physical strength and health. So long, thick hair means they're healthy and can lift heavy weights. E.g. Smidge, Bruce, Boom. Whereas short, wild or thin hair means they could be older, unhealthy or just not physically strong. E.g. Peppy and Thrash.

Trolls - eventually a hybrid Troll (e.g. Techno/Funk) is born in Trollstopia and the parents name the baby after Poppy.

Trolls - JD and King Peppy do the same pose in some stock images. I like to think it's like a Pop Village salute. (It probably has an actual meaning)

Putt Putt Trolls - all of them are wearing the same outfits because they used Bergen sized socks from the golf courses souvenir stand.

Poppy - When something is wrong and the brothers don't want her to know, she can immediately tell because they call her 'Queen Poppy'.

Poppy - besides giving Clay and Viva their titles, she considers the other brothers unofficially part of her 'court' as well. (She might knight them later on, who knows?)

Bruce - mortifies his kids by trying to use slang. "That was so very lit!" "Daaaaaaaaaadddddd"

Clay - bruises like a damn peach.

Clay - Viva made him co-leader after she gave up on the notion of being immediately rescued and realized Clay was already constructing and implementing long term settlement plans.

Clay - like the other Putt-Putt Trolls, he has basically become Nocturnal. Even with this, he pulls 'allnighters' to finish any work he has, so his sleep pattern is very inconsistent.

John Dory - always has some kind of weapon on him at all times.

John Dory - tends to manspread when sitting.

John Dory - has been targeted by Bounty Hunters before, resulting in a gnarly injury on his hand he now covers with his glove.

John Dory - for a time he was convinced that he was the last Pop Troll

Floyd - went through the seven stages of grief over his own death.

Floyd - can mix drinks. Messily. Was dating a bartender once and picked up some things from him.

Branch - will hold onto Poppy in his sleep like she'll disappear if he lets go.

Cloud Guy - gave Branch 101 reasons why he should officiate his and Poppy's wedding.

Out of curiosity, how often does Bruce visit Branch in the grey troll village? Cuz….at this point I feel like he would be so damn scared to expose his kids and wife to what he has experienced from previous posts. Though I’m guessing any and all get togethers with Bruce’s 13 kids and Brandi will be either at Trollstopia, Pop village, or Vacay island.

Bruce visits every now and then (usually for major troll holidays) or whenever his brothers sends a very concerning postcard about how scared they are of Branch (like when they started getting the gifts, or the first time Branch started crawling on the ceiling at 2 in the morning to check on them) Bruce usually comes to the village to do damage control on his brothers mental health.

He tries to keep his family as FAR AWAY from the village as possible (he really doesn’t want his kids to witness the atrocities that have happened there) He allows Branch to visit his family, but will also never allow them near the grey village out of fear the feral trolls would eat his wife and kids (the ferals would never do that to any family of Branch, but the fear is warranted) Thing is not allowed 100 feet near any of Bruce’s kids.

Branch also isn’t really good at interacting with his sister in law, or nephews and niece (I’ve mentioned before how Branch isn’t the greatest with kids) On their first meet Branch tried to give one of his nephews a poison coated dagger (his reasoning was “they need to be able to protect themselves from the Bergens” because they were pop troll hybrids) In the same visit he was going to give Brandy bone jewelry, but Bruce put a stop to that (Bruce loves his baby brother it’s just he’s so creepy at times)

The kids think uncle Branch is the coolest, while Brandy is just concerned for the disheveled looking troll.

So guess who watched Trolls 3 today~

Ngl, based on the trailers I had really low expectations for this movie, and it was really only after watching some TikToks with the villain song in them that I decided to give it a chance, and I'm so glad I did. 3 is by far my favourite of the entire series. Was not expecting to love Viva, but she was fantastic and I wish we had more screen time with her!

While I'm not entirely sure how I will/would integrate her into the Rough and Fluff AU, I decided to make a design for her anyways, complete with some little headcanons/additions. (Click the image for better quality)

More spoilery/AU discussions and 4th movie predictions below!

Okay okay, movie discussion first:

-I fucking LOVE the Putt Putt Trolls. Its so satisfying seeing how the trauma from the bergens being more fleshed out, and it makes perfect sense that they are as fearful as they are. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more pushback when Viva stopped them from executing Bridget and Gristle.

-(How did they escape actually? The tunnels collapsed, but were there other tunnels? Or did they have a different way out? How did so many, including the eldest heir to the throne, get left behind? Why did Peppy not get BOTH his daughter's immediately?)

-On the topic of Viva; notice how her ears are lower/sharper than Poppy's? I think that's typically a more masculine trait (not 100% bc we see some male trolls with softer/rounder ears) so uh yeah MTF Viva real suck my entire nards

-Fuck King Peppy. This guy gets worse every movie. He is the Dumbledoor/Sensi Wu of Trolls. Mans cannot just give Poppy relevant information to save his LIFE. I can understand not telling Poppy immediately, the grief of loosing his eldest daughter would understandably make that hard, but its been over 20 years now, and she deserved to know.

-Also, fuck most of Branch's brothers! I'm glad JD went back eventually (when exactly he did isn't clear, but sometime between the night of the escape and the first movie) but if he assumed Branch had died, why not try and contact his other siblings to tell them? Clay I can kinda understand with him not wanting to venture out beyond the mini golf area and leave the trolls he was helping to protect, but the rest of them? Not one of them tried to go back for their baby brother? Not even Floyd? When Trollstice was a thing?? Branch shoulda thrown hands fr.

-Rhonda the armadillo bus thing was hella cute and I want a plushie.

-I. Do not really like Crimp

-Velvet and Veneer slayed sooooooo hard. I hope Veneer makes a comeback.

-I also hope we see more of the other troll tribes again.

-The music for this movie was absolutely fire and I NEED a full cover of Sweet Dreams

-I wish the Grandma's death was touched on more than once for like .5 seconds. Like, come on guys, your brother just revealed a major trauma, and that your GRANDMA died!! For christ sake, maybe go apologize for fighting?? maybe go comfort him????

Movie numero 4 predictions:

-Broppy marriage. Branch fr said "Lets get married" by accident HES THINKING ABOUT IT

-Either Poppy/Viva get their mom back, or Branch gets one/both of his parents. Dreamworks will pull some bullshit out of their ass and say that uhm actually they escaped like years before the others did and have been, idk, trapped in the shadow realm or something.

-We see Chef/Creek again. Creek redemption ark would go crazy hard IF DONE RIGHT and I want to see that fear of some monster trying to eat all your friends come back again

-Broppy kid reveal at the end of the movie. Unbelievable amounts of Plush Toy Marketing and terrible spin offs ensue.

-backstory/lore/backstory/lore/backstory/lore/BACK

-I just want to see more Trollstice era stuff plz dreamworks

-We get a Sound of Silence reprise

-Branch/his brothers are revealed to be a hybrid/some kind of special troll. I am TELLING YOU this guy adapted to different kinds of music like it was NOTHING, something Poppy and the others struggled with. Hes got something in him I SWEAR

-Tiny diamond is, once again, part of the main supporting characters

Au shiz:

-If Viva IS put in, its going to most likely be during the sequel. Peppy is already going to be dragged through the mud, might have him mention something about a lost sibling near the end of the OG fic, and since the Pop trolls will be looking for a new home, maybe they'll run into her

-Branch's brothers will not be making an appearance. They simply dont fit into the narrative. I may do an alternate au with them included but who knows.

-Mildly considering making Tiny Diamond a Greek kid. (Guy x Creek) would make for some interesting angst.

Watching Trolls 3

So the band of Branch brothers broke up leaving baby Branch alone, and like "you're gonna take care of grandma" ..... um ..... you remember what happened in the first movie, right? Ouch

Oh my god the Bergens are thriving! I'm so happy for them

And oh, looks like Gristle wears midriff exposing shirts by choice, good for him

Yeah, so people in this world that looks pre-industrial know what DNA is, sure. And Bridget loves the drama, love me a queen

So yeah, Bridget and Gristle are relationship goals

Velvet and Veneer are amazing, see why everyone loves them

Oh my god, I love everything about Bruce (formerly Spruce); he's got a family, an interspecies romance with a muppet, hybrid children, a bar called "Bruce and Sons" (come on JD, keep up). And oh my god, "how do you make it work?" they went there!

So.... I kinda doubt that it’s going to be revealed that Branch is “really” a rock pop hybrid or super “special” in some way, for a few reasons.

For one, the idea of a different-looking troll being revealed of his true origins is already going to be Cooper’s arc, making it unlikely that Branch will be given that similar treatment. For two, all the unique things we see about him were the result of trauma and loneliness. His ears clearly drooped and he’s been very gray for a long time. His permanently droopy ears and somewhat dull default colors probably indicate lasting scars, not exactly traits he’d consider positive (though out of universe, Dreamworks likely keeps him that way for marketability or something).

So Branch is very likely just Branch, the pop troll. He doesn’t have previously unknown origins like Cooper or even Po from KFP. He was a pop troll that went through a traumatic experience that changed his appearance and worldview, but deep down he really wanted to feel close to his peers and participate in their fun. He wasn’t born inherently special, but he’s special in other ways. He doesn’t have anything super fancy, but he’s determined and is a good person enough to try helping make a difference. He’s special to Poppy. Isn’t that a good message?

(That said, who knows what direction they would take Branch in? We did never find out who his parents were, but even if they were unique, how would they have made it to the troll tree in the middle of Bergen town?)
