Unleashing the black flames of anger, here's Bennu Kagaho for the SSZ Fanzine Underworld, @saintseiya-zone, this time focused on the warriors of Hades. It was a fun challenge, and I feel like I did learn a thing or two in the process. And while I don't really like most of the Specters and they aren't my favourite Saint Seiya army as a whole, I was glad to be able to pick Kagaho, because he's among those I like the most. Felt a bit refreshing to do something different from my usual stuff. Kinda wished I had the time and energy for a second entry, but oh well. Better do one thing good instead of two and rushing them, with bad results, or not get one or both done in time.

The Benu bird and the Ba bird.

The Benu is a bird associated with the god Ra and the moment of creation. It's usually brownish gold in colour and looks a little like a heron.

The Ba bird is the form a person’s soul takes after death. It has the body of a bird, but the head of the person who died. This depiction probably shouldn’t be taken literally, but rather descriptively, since it encompasses the idea that soul keeps all the traits and character of the deceased person, but is free to fly beyond the body.

I got my first Benu fountain pen from Cult Pens! I’d been eyeing one up for a while now and decided to finally pick one up.

This Dragon’s Blood Talisman is just gorgeous. The colours really pop without being too much for me, and the nib is really finely tuned. This definitely won’t be my last Benu

Fountain Pen Reivew: Benu Skull & Roses Crow Fountain Pen

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I’ve inked any of my fountain pens with Noodler’s Black Swan in Australian Roses. A YEAR! But I knew I had to after finally acquiring this stunning Benu Minima Skulls & Roses fountain pen. Girl’s gotta stay on theme, right? 🥀 And frankly, I was excited to use it! Noodler’s bottles are filled to the brim with ink, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of mine. This lush burgundy red is extremely pleasing to write with, and for me lately, I’ve been gravitating more toward legibility and saturation than delicate pastels. So this hit all the right notes. Plus, look how nice it is in illustrations?! It’s so fun to draw and paint with!

One thing I unexpectedly love about the Red Roses Benu is that the raised designs and texture along the pen body (smooth and not obtrusive at all when gripping the pen) serve as a fantastic roll stop! The pen is easy to set down mid-writing/drawing, cap off, without worrying it will go flying off your desk. The fact it holds still and poses for my glamour photos is just a bonus. 😂

Benu pens have maaaassive ink converters, BTW, so I suspect this pen will be inked for quite a while before I make a switch. I’ve been writing with it now for several pages and it doesn’t seem anywhere close to empty. LOL. So enjoy seeing it on my feed for a while!
