I cannot stop thinking about this shot of Benji’s file from Fallout ever since I saw it.

Benji has worked every mission with Ethan since Ghost Protocol. Every mission. That means Ethan requested him every time. No one else has used Benji since then. Ethan has kept him to himself. As far as the IMF is concerned, Benji belongs to Ethan…(Luther’s says he’s worked with Ethan on multiple occasions)

That sort of says to me that Benji was important - essential - to Ethan right from the moment Ethan found Benji in the field.
