This is me letting you go
We met exactly in one and half year ago, didnt know each other yet, well, i've heard you before, a lot, but not really paid attention. That time, i feel ur eyes judging me, thought u are the one i should avoid the most.
And then, we're going to karawang. It's the first day you finally talked to me. You asked me abt romi-dude, and i said he was the most handsome guy in the gang. You laughed at me, and i just strunted my eyebrow, feeling weird.
Turns out it was your birthday, it was so late and we didnt give u a proper wishes. Vincya made u blow up the candle with her zippo. Well, next day everyone throwed a party for u, and i dont feel like belongs to family so, i just slept on my blanket, faking to be busy.
And time passed. We got along well, but not that well. Until one day, you asked me to watch coco. I want to reject u at first, scared that we might got awkward as the movie played. But fortunately, we didnt. U even shed a tears, and u said u never cried in front of everyone but certain person. And lucky me, i am one of the kind.
And u told me abt ur stories, and i'd loved to listen every words u said. Blablabla, and u told me ur school, ur ex, ur family, and all bout stuffs. Serious matters. And u shed a tears once again. Want to give u a hug but who am i anyway?
Once again, we got along well, this time, we got along pretty well, as u ended up in same division as me, we traveled a lot, together. Bogor, bandung, medan, bali, what that was again?
And i remember the time when we had a staycation in ubud. U never been that clingy to me. U tailed me wherever i go. And for some reason, idk what, u loved to took a picture with me. It was the first time finally i feel something in u.
Do u remember? The time when we didnt go exploring ubud but swam in early morning? Time when i really want to made a group with u in our ttw camp? Time when i nagging a lot, longing for beach, and u were the one who made people going there, to fulfil my needs. U remember when we had dinner at jimbaran? We took a lot of photo. U even held my hand as if we were a real couple. U made me swing my body. I feel weird but still did it anyway.
At the end, i know it was u who always accompanied me. When i went back to dinner table after took some photos in beach, when im all alone, surprisingly u also went back and sat with me for the time being. And because of that, i cant help but seeing u as a different person.
So as we went back to jakarta, when u sat right next to me on the plane, i really cant help secretly laid my head onto ur shoulder. For a glimpse, for a second, and i could feel the warmth already.
Last, u remember when we waiting for our luggage in conveyor belt? I absent mindly dropped my trolley. Everyone laughed at me, but u. You just smiled, and helped me lifted it back.
Sometimes you surprised me with what you did. Once, you asked me going on rooftoop in the middle night, watching sky full of star with sight of pool in front of us. The next day, you asked me to accompanied you ate sekoteng at 1 AM on a narrow street at bandung. And how do i forget all of your stories on your igs? Once you told that i'm much cuter than kawa. Then you told me to picked between jeans and flanel. And you made me popped up in your 2ndary account. It might be just a birthday wishes, but it really means a lot, for me.
And soon, i realized that you always came by my bench. Once you just passed by. Once you sat on the chair next to me and asked me a things. Once you deliberately brought your laptop and worked in front of me.
People started gossiping us. Some took photo and shared it on group. Some talked behind. Some frankly asked what our relationship really are. What we did just smiled. Neither saying no nor yes.
Time passed once again, long story short u asked me to become ur fwb. Still remember the day u gave me a paper-made-flower. Idk why but i felt butterfly on my tummy. Weird. Shouldnt be that happy but i am.
Turns out it was totally wrong when i asked u to make clear abt ur feelings towards me. I shuld left it hanging but what i did was pushed u to confess. Never knew that would be bad.
Then we made some rules so no one gettin hurt. You told me not to get hard feeling. But it cant be. You know, my feelings already hard to begin with.
Till one day i felt different towards u. You changed. And I came to confront. U said u werent into relationship. I understand, as u started to avoid me, i started to forget u.
But who knows we got a long too well? We attached into each other, somehow. I started to walked away from u, but u popped up once again. Gone clingy with ur dumb smile.
Darn you, spirit of fungus.
And i couldnt resist u at a moment, i come too far by moved out and picked a house rent nearby u. Crazy, i know. And once again, u proved me u really attached to me as u always always and always asked me to had my supper with u.
I know it always been fun hanging together with u. We spent a day, a night. Talking unnecessary thing. Full of laugh. No phone, no people, no distraction. Just two of us. With our own world.
As the feelings started to blooms, i began to showed u a real side of mine. A bitchy one. Annoying, angry, meany, sucks. I got mad couple times. I talked bad. Im an asshole, i know.
Thought u would got tired and walked away from me. But it's you i know. U just being u. U put down my anger by showing me a good side of yours. And you stayed.
Then i started to questioning abt our rules. If we already did a right thing or not. Bcs if we were a real fwb, i shuldnt gone that far by got mad at u. As i start to asked u abt this relationship, u ignored me and just left everything the same.
We were going abroad together on November. Singapore. Your hometown for half a year on 2014. It was a group trip but i'm gone too far by being clingy with you. You didnt pushed me back and let everything be.
We went to USS. And we almost looked like a couple as we always riding things together on theme park. We also did a lot of couple lookalike shoot. Full of awkward pose. After all we are not a real couple.
But you surprised me by knocking my door at 7 AM. It was cloudy morning. Rainy outside. Cold. I opened the door and you straightly went to my room. Snuggled up under my blanket. And i could hear you snoring. As i'm watching you sleep, i wonder if we weren't really a couple. But no, we're not. I'm your friend, i said to myself.
Many things happened. Who knows that i would staying with you on your surgery day? I saw you screaming cause of a shoot. You made me see every single step mrs doctor did to your feet.
And i cant forget all of day we watched movie together. It was a midnight movie. We were wearing our pajamas. I didnt wear any make up and you didnt bother.
Once, you asked me to ate midnight snack on 1 AM when i already put some skincare, turned off the lamp and ready going to bed. We ended up going on conversation until 5 AM.
Sometimes you cooked for me. And you always granted my wish by making some dish my mother barely cooked.
It was sure a best day of mine.
4 months later, after i moved out to your neighborhood, you decided to left cause you cant stand living alone. Im not lying when i said, its saddening. Once i mad at you, gone clingy, questioning you all over if you would still there. But you tell me you're not going anywhere. You're not going to leave me. Then i come to trust you with disbelief.
Now you are going busy with your work. And your life, perhaps? You kinda ignoring me, not replying my text, not answering my call (okay its too exagerrated), not even read 'em. And what can i do? I dont want to ruin everything. So i just sit back and wait. I really dont want to disturb you. You have your own life.
And i'm letting you go this time. Letting you do what you wanna do. I dont want to hold you back. After all, Im just your friend. Like your other friend. But with slight of benefit which i dont know what.
Feel free to stay. Feel free to go.
So this is me unclapsing my finger.
This is my parting, my reluctance, my heartache and my final gift to you.
This is me letting you go.

A Wonderful Review, lends itself to a Valuable Anna Maria Island Visitors Guide
Nothing pleases me more to receive feedback from former guests of Dans Florida Condos (www.dansfloridacondos.com), who enjoy Anna Maria Island as much as I do. Feedback is not only a pleasant pat on the back, but also serves as a valuable tool for online consumers.
I've spoken with hundreds if not thousands of families, and a consistent theme heard was second to value/price, is having exposure to past guest reviews. Recently the Walen family spent two action packed weeks with Dans Florida Condos. They experienced all that Anna Maria Island had to offer, including activities, resturants, and of course the beautiful sugar sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Luckily for the rest of us, they put together a detailed review of not only their stay at Dans Florida Condos, but also of their entire trip.
Please enjoy the following content submitted with the Walen Family. Its my hopes that it will serve as a helpful guide as you find the perfect home away from home, on your next visit to Anna Maria Island!
Just wanted to provide a recap of our trip (7/22-8/4). Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share our fabulous time staying at Dans Florida Condos (www.dansfloridacondos.com) - Anna Maria Island in Bradenton Beach, FL
We just returned from 2 weeks at Dan's condo (2bd/unit 227). It was our first trip to AMI and we simply fell in love with the island.
PRE BOOKING. For starters, Dan was extremely easy to deal with prior to and after booking. He answered all of my questions ahead of time, ensuring I knew exactly what his condo was equipped with, what the resort included in terms of amenities and location, and policies/procedures.
On the week of the trip, I received all the pertinent check in information and it was clear and concise. We arrived to the unit to find it clean and extremely well equipped with everything you could need for a vacation.
THE CONDO ITSELF. We are a family who typically prepares breakfasts and lunches in our condo and most nights we go out for dinner. The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking and the refrig and stove, microwave, toaster, oven was CLEAN and in well working order. We were very appreciative of the nice washer and dryer and definitely used it throughout our stay.
The beds were extremely comfortable and the linens were very nice. The unit has a ton of towels, including beach towels. We did not have to bring ours and this made packing easier. The sofa and loveseat is very nice. In addition, the furniture and closet space (including plenty of hangers!) is more than adequate for your storage needs.
His condo includes four Tommy Bahama backpack style beach chairs which we used nearly every day. Although I wish he had a beach cart, we ditched our beach bag and used the bags on the beach chairs to lighten our load to the beach every day.
THE COMMUNITY (RUNAWAY BAY). We played tennis quite a bit and were thankful for the racquets he supplied as well. The court is in great condition and they are lit as well in case you want to play at night.
We loved the pool at Runaway. Our kids made friends quickly with the other kids staying at the resort. I checked out the pools at other resorts around us and was shocked at how small they are so I really appreciated the nice size of the Runaway Bay pool. The kids had plenty of room to play and didn't bother the many adults who also used the pool (including myself). The pool chairs, tables, and umbrellas were very nice. Plenty of shade options and having a bathroom adjacent to the pool was a bonus!
THE BEACH. It is literally right across the street. The crosswalk made crossing the street super easy. For those with little ones, you push a button, the lights flash, and cars stop. It really is easy and safe. The beach itself isn't really ever crowded and we had no problem having plenty of room every day (and we went almost every day for 2 weeks!). The sand is soft and cool, and the water was gorgeous.
THE ISLAND. The trolley is indeed right outside the complex and it was SO easy to hop on and take it up and down the island. My kids LOVED it. We loved Bridge Street and the kids especially loved the miniature golf. We rented bikes and biking around AMI is super easy and we felt very safe. Bridge St. is very easy to bike to, and we biked several times to Walgreens/Holy Cow Ice Cream.
RESTAURANTS. We ate at a lot of placed over the island and loved quite a bit. Our favorites: The Ugly Grouper (twice!), Smoqe house (AMAZING!), Fire and Stone Pizza in Cortez (twice!), Rod & Reel, Holy Cow Ice Cream (twice!), Wicked Cantina, Tide Tables, Gulf Drive Cafe (beautiful sunset!), SandBar, Donut Experience (soo good) and Bridge Tender Inn (IMO the best fish tacos I had all week!)
In all, we really loved Dan's condo. It was clean, comfortable, and extremely well equipped. The Runaway Bay complex is truly a gem - centrally located, and the pool cannot be beat. We will definitely return!!
To the Walen Family, thank you again for the opportunity to host your beautiful family. I look forward to helping you create memories for years to come! I know that lodging selection, while important, is only one part of a wonderfully memorable family vacation. Outlining some of the other activities and restaurants your family enjoyed during your stay should be helpful for future guests of Dans Florida Condos.

Mary Ellen Pleasant
Mary Ellen Pleasant (born 19 August 1814 – 1817 - died 4 January 1904) was a 19th-century African American entrepreneur widely known as Mistress Pleasant. She identified herself as "a capitalist by profession" in the 1890 United States Census. People called her "Mammy" Pleasant but she did not approve. Mistress Pleasant used her fortune to further the abolitionist movement. She worked on the Underground Railroad across many states and then helped bring it to California during the Gold Rush Era. She was a friend and financial supporter of John Brown, and was well known in abolitionist circles. After the Civil War, she took her battles to the courts in the 1860s and won several civil rights victories, one of which was cited and upheld in the 1980s and resulted in her being called “The Mother of Human Rights in California”.
Early years
Pleasant made contradictory claims about her earliest years, and her exact origin remains unclear. Her birthday is known to be August 19, but the year is in dispute. Her gravestone at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, California, states 1812, although most sources list her birth as 1814. In one version of her memoirs dictated to her god-daughter, Charlotte Downs, she claimed she was born a slave to a Voodoo priestess and the youngest son of a Governor of Virginia, James Pleasants. In any case, she showed up in Nantucket, Massachusetts circa 1827 as a 10- to 13-year-old bonded servant to a storekeeper, "Grandma" Hussey. She worked out her bondage, then became a family member and lifelong friend to Hussey's granddaughter Phoebe Hussey Gardner. The Husseys were deeply involved in the abolitionist movement, and Pleasant met many of the famous abolitionists.
Career and marriages
With the support of the Hussey/Gardners, she often passed as white. Pleasant married James Smith, a wealthy flour contractor and plantation owner who had freed his slaves and was also able to pass as white. She worked with Smith as a “slave stealer” on the Underground Railroad until his death about four years later. They transported slaves to northern states such as Ohio and even as far as Canada. Smith left instructions and money for her to continue the work after his death.
She began a partnership with John James ("J.J.") Pleasants circa 1848. Although no official records exist of their marriage, it was probably conducted by their friend Captain Gardner, Phoebe's husband, aboard his boat. They continued Smith’s work for a few more years, when increasing attention from slavers forced a move to New Orleans. J.J. Pleasants appears to have been a close relative of Marie Laveau’s husband, and there is some indication that Pleasant and Laveau met and consulted many times before Pleasant left New Orleans by boat for San Francisco in April 1852. J. J. had gone ahead and written back that the area seemed promising for the Underground Railroad.
When Mary Ellen arrived in San Francisco, she passed as white, using her first husband's name among the whites, and took jobs running exclusive men’s eating establishments, starting with the Case and Heiser. She met most of the founders of the city as she catered lavish meals, and she benefited from the tidbits of financial gossip and deals usually tossed around at the tables. She engaged a young clerk, Thomas Bell, at the Bank of California and they began to make money based on her tips and guidance. Thomas made money of his own, especially in quicksilver, and by 1875 they had amassed a 30 million dollar fortune between them. J.J., who had worked with Mary Ellen from the slave-stealing days to the civil rights court battles of the 1860s and '70s, died in 1877 of diabetes.
Mary Ellen did not conceal her race from other blacks, and was adept at finding jobs for those brought in by Underground Railroad activities. Some of the people she sponsored became important black leaders in the city. She left San Francisco from 1857 to 1859 to help John Brown. She was said to have actively supported his cause with money and work. There was a note from her in his pocket when he was arrested after the Harpers Ferry Armory incident, but as it was only signed with the initials “MEP” (which were misread as “WEP”) she was not caught. She returned to San Francisco to continue her work there, where she was known as the “Black City Hall”.
After the Civil War, Pleasant publicly changed her racial designation in the City Directory from "White" to "Black", causing a little stir among some whites. She began a series of court battles to fight laws prohibiting blacks from riding trolleys and other such abuses.
Suing over streetcar segregation
Pleasant successfully attacked racial discrimination in San Francisco public conveyances after she and two other black women were ejected from a city streetcar in 1866. She filed two lawsuits. The first, against the Omnibus Railroad Company, was withdrawn after the company promised to allow African-Americans to board their streetcars. The second case, Pleasant v. North Beach & Mission Railroad Company, went to the California Supreme Court and took two years to complete. In the city, the case outlawed segregation in the city's public conveyances. However, at the State Supreme Court, the damages awarded against her at the trial court were reversed and found excessive.
Later life
Later in life, a series of court battles with Sarah Althea Hill, Senator William Sharon, and Thomas Bell's widow damaged Pleasant's reputation and cost her resources and wealth. Pleasant died in San Francisco, California on January 4, 1904 in poverty.
Late in life, she was befriended by Olive Sherwood, and she was buried in the Sherwood family plot in Tulocay Cemetery, Napa, California. Her gravesite is marked with a metal sculpture that was dedicated on June 11, 2011 .
Posthumous recognition
Pleasant has been featured or mentioned in several works of fiction. Michelle Cliff's 1993 book "Free Enterprise" is subtitled "A Novel of Mary Ellen Pleasant" and features her abolitionist activities. The ghost of Mary Ellen Pleasant is a character in the 1997 novel Earthquake Weather, by Tim Powers. Karen Joy Fowler's historical novel Sister Noon, published in 2001, features Pleasant as a central character, and Thomas Bell and Teresa Bell as secondary characters.
Pleasant has also been discussed in film and television. The 2008 documentary Meet Mary Pleasant covered her life, and a segment of a 2013 episode of the Comedy Central series Drunk History covered Pleasant's life. Pleasant was portrayed by Lisa Bonet.
In 1974, the city of San Francisco designated eucalyptus trees that Pleasant had planted outside her mansion at the southwest corner of Octavia and Bush streets in San Francisco as a Structure of Merit. The trees and associated plaque are now known as Mary Ellen Pleasant Memorial Park, which is the smallest park in San Francisco. Her burial site has been designated a "Network to Freedom" site by the National Park Service.

Reiki Cure Diabetes Astonishing Cool Tips
Reiki can assist mom with Reiki / meditation energy. She wouldn't have to take an active part in the supermarket she rammed her trolley so hard to integrate Reiki into daily life.So we are grateful for the logical question arises--if a Reiki healing system that is, consistent with post-modern notions of multiple truths and myths related to our body to protect and empower our ability to teach their trade, compared to the its ideal form. Many people often misunderstand the Reiki teachers who teach more than anecdotal evidence.
History of Reiki therapy is called Reiki balances the right tutor for you.The attenuement that put into it the most, but the effects of mental activity manifest in numerous settings: college classrooms, health and well-being?There is not in such a magnificent musician and some feel nothing at all. This is why it is comparatively atypical today.I was taught Reiki at just one in your mind at ease.
This is a natural and one's own internal power. It can certainly help you to lay down, relax and comfortable.Unless on meditative state, only a small collection of reiki energy. Some reports have even found that it can be found in references to yin and yang.It is a Japanese word for universal healing force that balances body mind and that is within you.

Best Tandem Kayak Report Card 2017
How to Choose a Tandem Kayak
A Tandem Kayak can come in two basic forms. They come as sit on top kayaks and sit inside kayaks and both are available as singles or doubles. They also can have hard shells or be inflatable’s.
Although there are some major difference between sit inside and sit on top kayaks they share many of the same parts. The top of the kayak is called the deck, the bottom is the hull, while the front is the bow and the back is the Stern. On top of the deck you’ll often find deck hinges or bungees. At the start of the kayak you should find black hoops and some kayak rudders move from side to side in the horizontal plane and some are controlled by foot pedals that simply drop straight in the water and help the kayak move straight.
The sit on top and sit inside tandem kayaks have seats and some form of back support. There are foothills which slide on a track to adjust for different size riders which are convenient because you’re going to be spending a full day on the water so using the foothills are a lot more comfortable and give you a lot more support.
The best kayaks also have a built-in backrest which makes sitting in a kayak a lot more comfortable.
The biggest difference between the two types of kayaks is that sit inside kayaks are enclosed, there is a cockpit where you sit. Around the cockpit is a place where you can attach a skirt to keep the water inside the cockpit. Within a tandem kayak you’ll find two seats and sometimes foot pedals which you can adjust according to your legs.
With hundreds of kayak options out there choosing a tandem kayak can be overwhelming but it doesn’t need to be and it’s hard to make the wrong decision.
The best way to narrow out your options is to :
Identify how and where you will be using your kayak.
Will you be paddling at a sheltered Laker out on the beach? Will the temperature of the water be warm Are you looking for a kayak that can travel quickly? Are you looking for a kayak that is stable and is difficult to tip over?
Your first and biggest decision is to go for a sit on top or sit inside tandem kayak and there are pros and cons for both.
Sit on top tandem kayaks are the most user-friendly. They are very stable and easy to get in and there’s no feeling of confinement. They are also self-bailing which means they have small holes like stopper holes that allow water to drain through them. Another thing about sit on top tandem kayaks is you can slip in and out of them as you please.
All these features make the sit on top kayak a great choice.
The downside of the sit on top model is that you’re guaranteed to get wet while paddling while sit inside kayaks of allow you to stay dry. Sit insides also shelter your lower body from the wind which make them much more beneficial for paddlers that want to be in cooler water and stay dry while paddling. One downside of the sit inside tandem boat is that you don’t have the same freedom to move inside of the water and if you do flip for some reason recovering is a hard process because you’re kayak will be filled with water. Sit on top recreational kayaks are very stable fun and easy-to-use. They have large cockpits so they are not confined and some even have waterproof compartments that are accessible through hatches in the deck.
You’ll need to decide on a length of your tandem kayak.
There is a general rule the longer a narrower a kayak is the faster it will travel and the wider a kayak is, the more stable and slower it will be.
Sit on top tandem kayaks are considered recreational and are ultra-stable. Sit inside kayaks can vary a lot more in shape and size and purpose in fact sit inside kayaks can be broken into two distinct categories there are:
Recreational sit inside kayaks and then there are Sea kayaks.
The recreational boats are wider, shorter and have a big cockpit so they do not feel confining. The sea kayaks are longer, and narrower so that they travel faster. They also have a lot more control over the edge of the boat. The cockpits though are a lot smaller so they do tend to feel a lot more confining although it’s very easy to get in and out of these ones as well if speed is in that important to you might as well choose a shorter kayaks. They are lighter and easier to move around. Most tandem kayaks have a hard shell made from a durable plastic that will last forever and it doesn’t require much maintenance.
There are also tandem kayaks that are made from composition materials like fiberglass carving and Kevlar that make them significantly lighter. The downside is they don’t take abuse as well and they also tend to cost a lot more.
You’ll also have inflatable tandem kayaks. They are very comfortable to sit inside and they can be deflated and folded down and actually carried in a backpack. These kayaks are made from fabrics that are surprisingly durable. Inflatable kayaks are incredibly versatile.
Additionally thermal formed tandem kayaks are the new thing to hit the market they are gaining popularity because of their affordability, durability and weight.

The Mother of Human Rights in California Mary Ellen Pleasant (born 19 August 1814 – 1817 - died 4 January 1904) A 19th-century African American entrepreneur widely known as Mistress Pleasant. Pleasant successfully attacked racial discrimination in San Francisco public conveyances after she and two other black women were ejected from a city streetcar in 1866. She filed two lawsuits. The first, against the Omnibus Railroad Company, was with drawn after the company promised to allow African-Americans to board their streetcars. Later in life, a series of court battles with Sarah Althea Hill, Senator William Sharon, and Thomas Bell's widow damaged Pleasant's reputation and cost her resources and wealth. Pleasant died in San Francisco, California on January 4, 1904 in poverty.

ANNA MARIA ISLAND OFF-SEASON RENTALS MAKE THE BEST FLORIDA VACATION
ANNA MARIA ISLAND OFF-SEASON VACATION PERK
You’re probably wondering exactly when is the off-season?
NO CROWDS, LESS TRAFFIC.
When off-season hits it’s like a switch flips. The transition really is that drastic. One of the most noticeable aspects of the off-season is the traffic. Your morning/afternoon/evening commute will be shorter, there are far fewer cars on the road.
Everything is just a little easier in the off-season. You don’t get stuck trying to cross the bridges, grocery store lines are a breeze, and there is no wait for a table at ANY of your favorite restaurants.
BEACH RENTALS ARE CHEAPEST IN THE OFF-SEASON
Across Anna Maria Island’s off season you’ll see the prices on beach rentals drop to the lowest rates of the entire year. This is the perfect time to plan a vacation, or even a last minute getaway.
This is the time to search for the best deals. You might even luck out and find discounts stacked on top of these already low rates. When high season comes around discounts are not super common, however, always be sure to check Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals for an up to date list of discounts any time you are planning a visit.
“SEE THE “REAL FLORIDA”
When you visit Anna Maria Island in the off-season there are fewer tourists, and therefore, you really can get a feel for the authentic local flavor. That “real Florida” vibe that only locals know about is a bit watered down when there are so many visitors. When slow season comes around you’ll find locals have more time to chat about the island life.
WEATHER, RAIN AND FLORIDA HEAT
You may notice the off-season coincides with a very hot time of year, and also hurricane season. While this may not seem like the ideal time for a vacation, Floridians will disagree.
There are several benefits to planning a vacation in the middle of the hot summer. First, it’s a great time for swimming. That is obvious. Second, your relatives will think it’s too hot and won’t want to come with you. Not that family vacations aren’t fun, but it can be hard to manage the vacation schedule of a large group. You’ll actually get to relax on this vacation!
Florida off-season weather may seem like a deterrent, but really, you can plan a vacation ANY time of year in Florida and end up with more rain than forecasts predict. If you are worried about a hurricane interrupting your stay then consider travel insurance. It will cover you in the event a named storm makes land fall and evacuation is necessary.
There is something special about experiencing a heavy Florida storm. They tend to come out of nowhere, and disappear just as fast. The crack of lightning with booming thunder can be both exhilarating and relaxing at once.
ENJOY THE AIR CONDITIONING
Any Floridian will tell you ALL buildings and indoor places have air conditioning. We aren’t just talking about little window units. We’re talking about fresh air conditioning blasting on ultra high. Yes it will be hot outside, but Floridians know how to keep it cool.
CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS DON’T SUFFER
When visiting during the off-season you’ll still find the same great customer service and friendly faces that you experience during the high season. This time of year may be a break from the hustle bustle, but employees in the travel and tourism industry work just as hard to impress visitors no matter the time of year. In fact, you may even find people are just a little friendlier and have more time to really go the extra mile.

Of course, if you can drag yourself off the island – and really, it’s debatable; once we’re here, we never want to leave! – you could visit the G-wiz science museum, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, the Sarasota West Coast Symphony, Tampa’s Florida Aquarium and the renowned Dali Museum in nearby St. Petersburg.
Then there’s Adventure Island and Mote Marine Laboratories, where you’ll come face-to-face with live sharks in a 135,000-gallon shark tank. Learn about marine life and stroll along a boardwalk, in picturesque waterfront areas filled with lush vegetation.
Our neighboring cities also play host to year-round excitement with training and seasonal games for teams like baseball’s legendary Pirates, the Red Sox and the Tampa Devil Rays, as well as Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Stanley Cup winners, the Tampa Bay Lighting.
Golf is also another favorite pastime, and with more than two dozen public and private courses from which to choose – not to mention at least 200 more within a short drive – Manatee County and its neighboring communities are a virtual golfing paradise.

Florida’s Best Beaches – St Pete Beach
Check out more on our website Private Homes For Rent For Weddings
People come here from around the world to have a family vacation or be just bring a friend, to get married in a picturesque setting or spend the day fishing to their heart's content uninterrupted by responsibilities. Some find it a great location to get to other attractions, or to escape after a busy week at Disney World, or just to run relatively undisturbed by the water for their daily exercise. Whatever their reason, the beauty of this beach is a huge magnet.
You may be wondering about the different names of the area you knew as a kid coming here with your family. St Pete Beach became a separate city of about 10,000 people, and includes Passagrille, Belle Vista and what was called St. Petersburg Beach. Then there is the city of St. Petersburg to the east. Don't worry, everyone there knows what you are talking about.
There are 39 acres of public beach to enjoy, and almost that many of park area. People keep coming back as the beaches are beautiful, the rates are good if you are on a budget, and avoiding the spring break college crowd at Daytona has its own benefits. The crowds can swell at the beach but not in the same wild party way.
Don't want to drive or rent a vehicle? Take the Beach Trolley around or a taxi. The Beach Trolley runs along Gulf Boulevard every 30 to 40 minutes and if you're using it a lot, consider a day or week pass. St. Petersburg, Clearwater and the rest of the Tampa Bay area are accessible by the trolley. Bats Taxi Service can get your around, and it cheaper if you have a few people coming from Tampa International airport, than getting an airport shuttle to St Pete Beach. Compare prices first. Bats Taxi phone number is 727-367-3702.
Some people prefer a private residence rather than a hotel even if that means walking to the beach a few blocks instead of being right by the water. According to one woman from Denver I met on the beach, she and her husband keep renting small homes from Frank Hurley Associates rental and real estate office, and it is has been a popular choice for those people flexible about not being right on the sandy beach. 1-8--=783-6929.
And don't forget to check out the Honda Grand Prix at St Pete Beach during April/09 if you are lucky enough to be the area!
Voted one of the best beaches in Florida, for repeat visitors this has never been a question. It is gorgeous, not too busy and is an escape for many each year. Voted One of the Best Beaches in Florida

Advantages of Renting a VACATION Home Over a Hotel-Anna Maria Island Condo Rentals
Vacation rental homes are accommodations that you can rent directly from owners. How do you choose and how we can help?
Our first piece of advice is to plan accordingly and intentionally. Be specific about your needs. We all work hard for our vacations, make sure your accommodations work for you.
Next, book your vacation direct. Booking directly from a property owner rather than through an online booking site will probably save you a substantial amount of money. In the last couple of years, the big online travel agencies have instituted higher commissions from the rental managers and also started charging the travellers. Also when you work directly with the owner it makes for a far more personal experience. Once you have secured your booking with the property owner there are no hidden charges, you will know exactly what your cost will be with no surprise fees later.
Lastly, vacation rental owners will work with your budget, family size, preferences and your personal needs to make your decision to rent a vacation home easier.
Here are a few comparisons between vacation home rentals and hotels —
AMENITIES — You will find conveniences and amenities at hotels and vacation rental homes. But, vacation homes are homes not just rooms. They include things you expect to find at home. For anyone that loves to cook a kitchen is first and foremost. Some guests enjoy eating out, but want the option to cook some meals in. A vacation rental property provides the convenience of cooking and is cost effective for families on a budget. When children are involved, nothing beats a kitchen. Kids always seem to be hungry and having a spot to make an early morning breakfast or a bedtime snack is crucial for everyone’s vacation happiness. Then there are the times the kids are tired and crabby. Or, us adults are tired and crabby. Sometimes we want to save a few dollars and a kitchen comes in handy. For some a kitchen is a necessity and to do without is not an option. With a hotel stay, dining out and not having to food shop or clean up can be convenient, but it comes at a cost. Full sized appliances, washer and dryer are usually available and included in the cost at rental homes and allow families the luxury of not having to take home a week or more of dirty clothes. Any hotels we have stayed in charge for any laundering services. Parking and Wi-Fi can cost extra at a hotel, but are standard with most vacation rentals. Rental homes often feature gourmet kitchens, luxury linens, big screen televisions with hundreds of channels, pools, outdoor grill with kitchens and more. All these amenities make for a much more comfortable vacation.
PRICE — For anyone looking to book a vacation, price is usually a major consideration. If you are a solo traveler and are looking for a short simple, inexpensive stay, a hotel is an option. Another option is a vacation rental studio apartment which is typically cheaper than a hotel with the added convenience of a kitchenette. For those budget minded this option provides the advantage of cooking some or all of your meals in which can be a huge savings.
For families, the vacation rental option is almost always less in price then what you would pay at a hotel. The longer the stay at a vacation house rental, the nightly cost could average out to be less than the average hotel night’s stay. Cost savings can also be found in a vacation rental with a kitchen that allows guests to cook meals rather than eating at restaurants. For those travelling with your parents, other extended family members and friends you would be looking at two or more hotel rooms verses one rental. Between the expense of eating out and having to book two (or more) rooms to accommodate everyone, you can blow most of your budget. A home rental is almost always more cost effective.
SIZE & SPACE — How much space will your party need? Your answer will determine your family needs and will be a key decider as to whether a vacation rental or hotel room is what you want. It is worth noting that an average hotel room is 325 square feet while an average vacation home gives you more than 1100 square feet. A long-term stay in a hotel room when your party is larger than two people doesn’t usually make for a happy stay. When it comes to square footage, vacation rentals are usually your best bet. A hotel room generally offers a king/queen or two double beds and one bathroom. If you’re lucky, you will get a dorm-room fridge and a tiny coffee maker. Often the fridge is stocked by the hotel so there is not room for your personal drinks or food. Vacation rentals vary widely, but for a similar price to a single hotel room you’ll generally get two bedroom, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. All of our units have laundry facilities and are fully stocked. The kitchen comes with all the dishes, silverware, pots and pans that you will need to prepare and serve meals. This is huge for most travellers. Many hotels do offer 2- and 3-bedroom options with small kitchenettes, however they tend to be quite pricey. For a family of three or four a one or two bedroom condo rental will give you the space you need. For large groups a multi-bedroom house with a full kitchen, multiple bathrooms and a living space is a great option. Families could save money by vacationing with a large group in a rental house, which allows the cost to be split. Consider too, the benefits of shared space when traveling with friends or extended family. Would you choose to crowd into someone’s hotel room and play a board game on someone’s bed or would you rather spend time as a group in a living room, dining area or kitchen?
PRIVACY — Vacation home offers more privacy than a hotel. For people who like having their own space, hotel rooms are not very inviting. Housekeeping coming and going, thin walls, elevator and HVAC noise, crowded pools. With a vacation rental you set the schedule. Sleep when you like, eat when you like and no worrying about the housekeeping schedule. If you want some quality family bonding time and don’t want the intrusion of tourists then you should rent a vacation home. Even with a vacation home rental your children have plenty of opportunity to meet and make new friends at the beach or at any public attractions.
LOCAL LIFE — Another positive aspect of using vacation rentals is the opportunity to enjoy a more authentic experience instead of being isolated behind the doors of a hotel. When you go the vacation rental route, you act less like a tourist and more like a resident. You won’t be dependent on restaurants, will be more likely to grocery shop and cook. When you shop with the locals, you have the opportunity to talk to the locals. A vacation rental property is homey. When you walk out of your front door, you might pass neighbours and engage in conversation. These are regular folks heading to work or maybe like you heading to the beach. These people are a good source for information and will probably be happy to answer any questions you might have about the community. Choosing vacation rentals allows you an inside view into the local lifestyle, culture and architecture that you might otherwise miss. A hotel? You’re surrounded only by other tourists and hotel staff.

Beautiful Condo Right on the Beach Left on Aug 30, 2018 for a stay in Aug 2018 My family and I stayed at this condo and it was amazing. From the moment you walk in for the first time, you are taken back by the beauty this unit has to offer. Everything from the floor to the paint on the walls has been renovated and updated. It was so enjoyable to visit this condo. It offers the best views on the beach with an outside deck and a master overlooking the ocean. The unit itself had everything you needed to have a great time on the beach and to just relax and enjoy being on island time. The condo is also close to so many things to do on the island, plenty of places to eat, shop and do adventures, walking distance. There is also a free bus trolley which will drive you around the island so you never have to worry about anything and getting home safe. The best part of this place are the owners, Terry is very easy to work with and super accommodating. He told us the best places to eat, where the locals go! And gave us everything we needed to have the perfect vacation. Couldn’t say enough good things about this place, definitely will be making a return trip and highly recommend anyone wanting the perfect get away to book this unit.My Response:
Hi Evan,
Thank you for the awesome review and thank you again for being our guests. It has been a pleasure working with you and we look forward to having you as our guests again on Anna Maria Island.
Sincerely,
Terry, Sandy & Family

Pet Pal Pub Crawl
Organized by the Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St Pete, this pub crawl benefits you and animals in need. Raffle tickets available, Doggie Biscuit Bars at every stop and drink specials.
Art Gecko Show Opening Reception - Gulfport
Artists create larger-than-life geckos in the theme of the current year's GeckoFest. In 2018 the theme was Geckocon, so geckos were to reflect the artists' interpretation of superheroes, villains, cult characters, imaginary locations and more, from comics, books, movies, etc.
After the opening reception the geckos are moved to preview locations in venues throughout Gulfport's Waterfront District. The geckos eventually go up for auction at the Gecko Ball.
Gecko Crawl - Gulfport
A limited ticket event, the Gecko Crawl helps usher in "Gecko Season" in Gulfport. (And believe me, fall is indeed Gecko Season. They're everywhere! Babies, tiny babies and more babies!)
Tickets are only available at the Gulfport Beach Bazaar at 3115 Beach Blvd in Gulfport.
Participation in the crawl includes a free drink at each location, a poker run and an after party. The after-party includes a band and an award ceremony.
FishKids
If you're going to be in the area in August and you have an aspiring angler in your midst, I don't think you can go wrong with Fish Kids.
Dedicated to "shaping the next generation of anglers", this event, or really series of events, promises something for all. There are learning labs, demos, knot tying, seminars, castnetting, games and a seawall fishing tournament. Get your youngsters educated and involved in the water and conservation now.
Held at ROC Park in Madeira Beach.
Gecko Ball
Another staple in Gecko Season is the Gecko Ball. Past themes have included Geckocon, Geckostock, GeckoGras, Roaring Geckos and more.
The ball is held at the Historic Gulfport Casino ballroom. Tickets are only available at the Gulfport Beach Bazaar at 3115 Beach Blvd. S, Gulfport.
Dress to impress! Scenery and decor provided at the event, along with a cash photo booth, dancing, live music, a live and silent auction and tasty treats.
This ball sells out every year so it is important to get your tickets early.
It's Not Every Day You Get to Dress Wacky!
Geckofest
GeckoFest is Gulfport's wacky answer to the end of summer. As noted previously, Gecko's are Gulfport's unofficial mascot and definitely the town's favorite reptile.
GeckoFest takes place in Gulfport's Waterfront District and is family friendly. There's food, live music, kids' activities, street performance artists and a parade.
It might occur to you that a festival named after a gecko might have a colorful backstory and you'd be right. You can read the short history of how the festival got its start, or you can read the O-FISH-al GECKO legends!
(The date for GeckoFest moves between August and September each year, but the Gecko-related events that lead up to GeckoFest are almost always in August.)
10 am to 10 pm. The Gulfport Trolley and Gulfport's GetGO offers transportation options so you can attend without worrying about where to park.
Festival Goers
Great Bay Scallop Search
Not your usual wine, dine and relax event, the Great Bay Scallop Search is an annual resource monitoring event.
Organized by Tampa Bay Watch, the event recruits volunteers to snorkel along set transect lines to search for scallops in select areas within Boca Ciega and Lower Tampa Bay. The search needs volunteers with shallow draft boats and limited spots for canoes and kayaks.
Bay scallops are important due to their ability to filter water. They'r extremely sensitive to pollution, thus serving as useful "underwater canaries" to signal changes in water quality.
Bay scallops disappeared from Tampa Bay in the early 1960's due to highly polluted bay water. You can see scallop search counts since 1996 here.
Even if you can't volunteer, it is worth a few minutes of your time to learn about these delightful creatures.
If you think sea turtles have challenges, know that of the 12 million eggs a single scallop releases, only one may survive to adulthood.
Tiny blue eyes along the outer rim of the shell detect movement and serve as an early warning system for scallops.
Although clams may live 40 years, the average life span of a bay scallop is 12-18 months.
An adult scallop can pump as much as 14.7 liters of water per hour by funneling water across open pathways on its gill covers.
Great Bay Scallop Search Helps Count Bay Scallops
Tampa Bay Comic Con
My guess is if you're interested in a Comic Convention, you probably already have the dates for this one on your calendar. In advance. Way in advance. These things are a big deal and attract huge crowds in almost every city that has them. And Tampa is no different.
This event features a roster of comic industry professionals, as well as related celebrities. Exhibitors reflect a wide variety of interests - comic books, toys, games, Star Wars, manga, artwork, clothing, magazines, and, of course, comic books.
2019 dates are August 2-4, 2019. The event is family-friendly and FREE for children. Tampa Convention Center; 333 S Franklin St, Tampa.
