For OFMD Tumblr friends who want a S3 and are scared of Twitter
First, no judgment from me. I very much get it. I resisted Twitter for a long time, and even though I'm now a bit more comfortable on it, it's still not my Fandom Home. There are a TON of valid reasons not to be on Twitter, but if you REALLY want to keep OFMD visible right now and help its chances of returning for a third season, Twitter is the best place to do it. Like it or not, Twitter is still the best social media platform for raising awareness and for instant news updates.
Tumblr posts don't make headlines. Topics that have been trending on Twitter do. And if we want this show to come back, we need to make OFMD impossible to ignore.
By now you've probably seen just how close we came to a S3, and if you're like me, you are RAGING and donning your battle jacket. But I get it can be intimidating to get on Twitter for the first time, so I thought I'd address some common anxieties I see. I'll put below a cut because this got a bit long, but I promise it's a quick read.
I don't know what to say! Where do I even start? That's okay! You don't have to create your own tweets (although it's great if you do). Amplifying other people's posts is also important. Go ahead and like/retweet/reply to other people's posts. This may also help you get an idea of what you may like to say in your own tweets.
Hashtags...yes? Yes! Although don't use too many or you may get flagged as a bot. The biggest one that seems to be emerging is #SaveOFMD. Other popular ones are #RenewAsACrew, #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath, and of course, #OFMD and #OurFlagMeansDeath.
Tumblr media
Should I just be tagging all the streaming services? Per @renewasacrew, no. It's counterproductive. You'll want to tag one streamer at a time and be specific. Below is an example of a tweet I made the other day -- use specific reasons why that that particular streamer may benefit from picking up OFMD.
Tumblr media
I'm scared. People are mean. Yeah, people are mean. But I will say the vibes over at OFMD Twitter are currently the best I've ever seen them. People seem to have united for the greater good and are being overwhelmingly positive and just trying to do whatever we can to save the show. (That said, again, I already had a pretty curated feed, and was very liberal with blocking users/terms I didn't want to see, but I've been able to spend so much more time in the For You tab than I ever have without being jump scared by something.)
But I don't know anyone there! Wouldn't I just be shouting into the void? Not if you use the hashtags! Fans are being really good about following those and engaging with the tweets. Plus, [Stede voice], I'm your friend. I'm xoxoemynn over there as well, I'll follow you back and engage with any of your posts that I see. Plus, what's been REALLY lovely to see is that SO many lurkers have come out of lurkerdom to support the efforts, and they are being welcomed with open arms, so you will not be alone. Again, I am telling you, vibes? Best I've ever seen them.
I can't get sucked into another social media platform, I don't have the time. The beauty here is you don't need to spend a lot of time. I've been on Twitter more in the past week than I have in the entire year I've had an account, and I'm still only on for maybe an hour total the entire day? I open the app, I check a couple accounts, I engage with a handful of posts, and I close the app. It takes all of five minutes. It's an extremely small lift that can have a very big impact.
My bet is on Zaslav expecting us to be upset, and that there may be a day or two of outrage, but then we'd move on. I'm sure right now he's trying to convince everyone that this is a fluke, and that it'll blow over soon. Don't let him win. Keep OFMD in the news. Be loud (but polite) and make Max and other streamers take note of what a passionate, loyal fan base this show has. Make their stocks continue to drop. Make it clear this is NOT just a fluke, it is NOT business as usual. It's a BIG fuck up with lasting consequences.
Twitter, for all its sins, is the best place to do this.
Now let's get our damned show back.

Gai and Kakashi got married on the playground when they were 5/6 years old. It was just for fun but they, unlike everyone else in their year, never got divorced afterwards.
(Which is hilarious compared to Obito and Kakashi who got married 28 times, but got divorced a total of 37 times!)
Anyways because of that, the two never felt they needed a real marriage as adults. They had their flower rings Gai would replace once a year (unless Kakashi beat him too it), and their eternal rivalry, what more could one want?
That is until one day, when Tsunade introduced a new pension plan for married shinobi, and tax benefits were too great to ignore, and Kakashi and Gai signed the paperwork the next day!
What's more romantic than asking someone to be your life partner, so you can save money together for all eternity.

Okay, topical Malevolent ep 44 reaction. Based on the wiki, it looks like the characters' choices to not return to the windmill and to get the witch's body were made by voting patrons, which further convinces me that the votes don't improve or even significantly change the story most of the time. Whenever Jorthur (yes, Jorthur) make a Patreon decision they usually have to justify it in-universe with a little debate, and besides just being kinda tedious, the justification often doesn't line up with the story's action. The patrons understandably wanted to explore the hallways over the windmill, which was justified in-universe by saying Arthur was too weak and injured to climb back there. But then the only interesting loot on offer is a piece of the witch, and once they chose that there's suddenly a big pool in the way and the world's most stabbed man suddenly has incredible lung capacity (I checked, he's underwater for 3:20 minutes and is yelling as they're launched out) and can swim with a metal breastplate on and cut through limbs once he's down there. He even conveniently brought all his shit with him despite the potential for water damage, so they didn't lose their inventory by being unexpectedly spat out. (John doesn't even sound like he's all that worried about him drowning either lol, though that's a separate issue of him being a slow horror podcast narrator first and an active character second.)
I understand why you would gamify a story loosely based on a role-playing campaign, but as someone who already doesn't get the appeal of listening to other people play TTRPGs, I struggle to imagine what the patrons get out of this (besides financially supporting a show they like, obvi). It's not really like a role-playing game because you don't control everything the protagonists do or have the context you need to make the best decisions (in this case, the characters know they dumped the witch in a deep pool, but the patrons probably didn't), nor is it really like a choose-your-own-adventure story because you don't get to try the alternate paths and everything will lead back to the author's planned narrative anyway. It's good for the story but presumably not much fun for the players that the author has an outline and an ending set in stone iirc.
Since someone could see this and go "well here's when the voting really worked for me," I did want to be fair and find an instance where the voting mechanism (probably) led to a good story choice. I like that the seemingly innocuous choice to ring the doorbell in ep 33 leads Arthur to realize that he fucked up several episodes prior by leaving his name at the hotel. That was a nice reveal, and maybe the lack of context actually made the vote more fun. It would have been revealed either way by Daniel being shot at the door, but ig Arthur stopping him before he opened it saved his life or something, idk. It feels pointless to speculate on when we're never going to see what happens if he knocks. Ultimately the difference between that and ep 44 to me, a non-patron, is just that Arthur fucking up by trying to be smart and realizing it at the last second is a good story beat, one with a clear line between cause and effect. Jorthur faffing about in the halls when they apparently could've just left through the windmill and then diving with armor on to mutilate a woman's corpse because the author is on a birth imagery kick is not.
Uhh other thoughts, I guess I am pretty glad they're finally out of the weird yonic caverns, even if I can tell that Jorthur entering civilization will lead to more ~historical liberties~ that will cause me actual pain. The voice acting is great as always. I like Yorick. I don't like that we're getting more dad!Arthur moments because come on. Also personally I would not have named the cute owl sidekick after the heavily implied CSA victim with no voice or agency from Oscar's grimdark edgyboy backstory, but that's just me

Hey friends, this is a heads up that tomorrow I'm going to be locking all my fics to registered ao3 users only. With apps like lore.fm popping up, I would rather do everything I can to ensure my fics stay on ao3, and do not get posted to any other websites—especially those that would potentially be making a profit from my works.
For the record, my FAQ policy in my pinned post states that my fics should remain solely on ao3, unless you're creating a bind that is not for profit. I ask that you respect my wishes on this.
To be clear, I am not taking down my fics, just locking them so they are only accessible to registered users.
If you have questions about this, or need clarity, feel free to ask!!

Do just wanna say bc i checked the notes of that post about the gilded crown, while its wild that devs made the choice to add the item to the account and then lock it, like its understandable why they check the accounts of people who've won sought after/valuable items. If a person who is multiaccounting wins its a very bad look for devs because it seems like theyre rewarding a rule breaker who has an advantage in situations like roundseys raffle (not that that was what was happening this time to be very clear!!!). All this to say maybe if you have broken the rules in the past, maybe be careful moving forward when entering big item roundsey weeks. Theyre investigating past account activity of the winners of these highly valuable items now

the thing about my disability that fucks me up the most is not the disability itself, but the knowledge that I need to convince the government that i'm completely and utterly helpless if i want a chance to get benefits, and so every time i have a slightly better day instead of enjoying it i become paralyzed with terror that someone will use anything i accomplish as proof that i'm not really sick

BLOW A KISS, MY IDOL!
Sneak Peek
Kenji “Ultrafine” Sato x J-pop Idol Fem!Reader
morning after a one night stand, kenji was heavily intoxicated and decided to “go at it” with a random pretty girl he found at a bar. read at your own risk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the last few weeks, one name has dominated the headlines in what is sure to be a historic moment in…
J-pop?
“J-POP? and not me?”
And just like that, Mr. Kenji “Ultrafine” Sato experienced his very first heartbreak. Rejected by the media? hurt? Please. Our guy’s survived his family practically breaking apart and his mother’s “presumed” death. So why is the man-child nursing his wounded ego over a headline snub? Put him next to a crying child, and you might not spot the difference.
As if leaving his star-studded career with the LA Dodgers wasn’t enough buzz for the media, he regrettably so decided to start from scratch and play for Japan’s although remarkably declining team, the Yomiuri Giants. Surely that much is enough to score another headline, no?
But right now, the only scratches this star player has are the scratches on his back; the aftermath of a hot night with some chick he met at a low-class bar.
Did I mention that chick is the J-pop idol who snagged his headline and his last shred of dignity?
But Kenji is clueless. Can you blame a man drowning in booze, craving touch, and careless enough to miss the signs?
If you were a random tumblr user and someone asked you to set up a GFM for them, where you would be solely in charge of potentially huge sums of money and making sure it is transferred safely to Gaza, why would you take on that insane level of responsibility? I ask because the organiser I spoke to is also on tumblr. They don't know the person they are fundraising for very well/at all. What on earth happened here?
It's so so disingenuous to claim that Dany should have taken the time to separate xyz privileged persons in Meereen because "not everyone sanctioned the murder of those 163 children 😞". Oh ok. So that very wealthy, very influential man did not personally give the order. Maybe he doesn't even have slaves. But riddle me this: Where did their wealth come from? What are the historical foundations of their political power? In a society that continues to practice oppression (and a society where wealth and status is defined by it), how is it that they continue to hold as much influence and social capital as the "direct evil"? None of this is happening in a vacuum. And like....this is a society where the dehumanization of slaves is systemic. It runs policy and economics. And the people in power obviously know each other and support each other (considering the fact that they can keep wealth and influence!!!). So does it matter if xzy didn't give the order? Does it matter if they were not the ones nailing those kids to the posts? What matters is that they saw oppression, did absolutely nothing in the face of it, and continued to benefit from it. They are not innocent. Evil isn't just related to the guy pulling the trigger. The devil is also the one who's standing in the back, watching, and counting his coffers. And it terrifies me to think about what some of you would be saying in the real world, in the face of oppression. "I cannot be held accountable because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger"....but you continued to benefit from the privilege afforded to you by the oppressive system AND DID/SAID NOTHING. By turning a blind eye, you have taken the side of the oppressor. So I'm sorry sweetie but you 👏 are 👏 part 👏 of 👏 the 👏 problem 👏 big time!
maybe I’m misreading tone and I’m sorry if I am but maybe energy like “if this is the same anon from confessmau...” and “I wish this was a copypasta” and the Um Actually nitpicky energy that flooded the Confessmau ask with “Brothers in arms doesn’t mean brothers!!” And “The list isn’t canon!!” being directed at someone who basically says “I think MCD Garrance is a brotherly relationship and I hate and am frustrated about feeling alone in this feeling” is why people feel like saying I don’t like Garrance is confession blog worthy!! Cause having any strong negative emotions about it is treated like...cringe??? Like it’s weird???? Like you seriously think someone thinking Garroth and Laurence have a brotherly relationship is this fabdom’s level of Vaporeon Is The Most Breedable?
I’m not that anon but I also don’t ship Garrance and it’s reactions like That thag make me feel like I can’t fucking say it without being all sweet abd understanding and saying something about how good of a ship it is, or hiding behind an anon button. So yeah those reactions just kind of pissed me off on their behalf. I get it’s not thqt serious, not even in regards to the issues this fandom has, but it still just. Come on. Asks like that are a dime a dozen in regards to ships and characters, but that’s the one that’s “weird”? That’s the one that needs citations attached? We can say ship wars are dead but boy when someone says they don’t like Garrance some of that energy sure does come back.
