Do you have a favorite fan-made Inkling/Octoling hairstyle?
eh, there's a lot of cool ones ive seen but that isnt something i keep track of. when it comes to splatoon oc stuff i p much just keep up with my friends and a select few people. more on brand would be to share some styles from official concept art that i like. for octolings i think these two are really cool, especially the one on the left. the way the upper and underside of the tentacles contrast is very cool
for inklings the one on the left im biased because i used that as inspo for my sona's style. the one on the right i like how its cut into. there's a lot of other concepts im drawn to less so for the shape of the hair itself but for showing interesting colorations and things like. grilling and frying the hair.
related to this, my splatoon OC design take is that its better to not break the 6 tentacle (4 for octolings) guideline. im a firm believer that limitations breed creativity, there is so much that can be done by cutting into tentacles and i think people dont utilize that fact enough. just look at the concept art for inspiration. if you want more strands u can cut into the tentacle vertically, or u can even give them hair extensions. i think you can also stretch the definition of what counts as a tentacle. (however there is some concept art that seemingly breaks this rule. most of it looks really old, and it gets more often broken in octoling designs rather than inklings... a lot of those guideline breaking designs dont look as good imo)
oh yeah, here's where you can see a collection of inkling and octoling hairstyles from the artbooks, for your reference!
#asks#inklings#octolings#limitation breeding creativity is also is why i love knowing splatoons canon#i want to know the rules of splatoons canon so i can work with it and bend it plausibly when doing stuff with my ocs#leads to more interesting and creative results in worldbuilding than just selfishly doing whatever and falling back on wht i know

I have. So many questions about your version of Tarre but I will try to keep it short
How did the Mando's react when they found out that he was a Jedi?
How did his first Jedi Master die?
Did Tarre manage to finish the tapestry (the one he was trying to finish before the meeting) before the due date or?
Did Tarre one day look up and ask his close circle of Mandos if he was the Mando'alor and said circle had to awkwardly tell him he had been the Mando'alor for a while and they were technically his advisors?
HOW was your Tarre adopted by the Jedi - assuming he has always been a Mando even if he did practice much of the culture? Did he accidentally run away as a toddler and end up in a cargo ship across the galaxy in enemy zone? Did he accidentally set fire at 3 separate houses in the Vizsla Clan and they decided to set him against the Jedi (and did it work even if only for a temple)? Tell me pleaseeee
Also sorry if this is stupid I assume that Tarre has always been a Mando or is he a convert (and if so was it via the god haunting him or was it after he went on the self-imposed exile while everyone thought he was dead)? I'm asking this to make sure I understood everything correctly
okay okay okay. well, let me preface this with saying that I am 1) INCREDIBLY stoked to see someone as invested in cringefail jedi Tarre as I am and 2) I have an incredibly detailed account of Tarre's life in my mind (that I might one day write down in fic form) so you don't know the beast you just unleashed
how did the Mandos react when they found out he was a Jedi?
well, it depends a bit on which Mando. the guy that for a while was his Alor and then became his second in command figured it out on his own after Tarre was a bit too weird about certain things for a bit too long. He mainly was put out that Tarre never trusted him enough to tell him (even tho Tarre himself probably assumed he'd just left the jedi order at that point). Also, it explained just a lot of the general weirdness of the guy, so if anything it cleared things up.
The rest of their inner circle figured it out some time afterward when Fay just appeared in the middle of their dining room, calling him out on his bullshit. I think they were too mortified to see her immediately do a 180° and start a custody war with a literal force-deity to react, really. And again, Tarre being a Jedi explained more questions than it raised (at that point he'd had probably a literal decade of raking up a history of being That Weird Guy TM)
And the rest of Mandalore's populace... I genuinely think many of them might never have known? At least not during their or Tarre's lifetime?
There might have been rumors, sure, but again, Tarre had already collected a lot of weird ass rumors about him by that time, so it kinda was just another one of those? At least this version of Tarre never went out and proclaimed he was a Jedi in some grand sort way. He was way too busy for that. Which I think would explain quite nicely how all subsequent generations of Mandalorians seem to put all emphasis on Tarre being Mand'alor and never really seem to mention his ties to the Order.
2. How did his first Master die?
His first Master, a rodian crèchemaster named Yuumba Doksa, died on a mission where they were supposed to investigate a sudden epidemic amongst settlers on a newly colonized planet. It turned out to be a bioengineered virus commissioned by the Sith, and despite the Force, Tarre had to watch his Master die before an effective treatment could be found. He himself also got infected with it, but because his genetic material was such a wild blend of things, his immune system was a lot more resistent to the virus.
3. Did Tarre finish the tapestry before the meeting?
No.
In retaliation, he just took his loom to all subsequent ones. That was the first in a long list of Weird Things He Just Does I Guess.
4. Did they have to tell him that?
Of course they did.
Actually, and this is getting down into the nitty gritty of my personal headcanons and worldbuilding around Tarre Vizsla, "Tarre Vizsla" started off as two people: Tarre on one side and Marek Vizsla (his alor-turned-second-in-command) on the other. Through a bit of a miscommunication at some point, the spokesperson persona the both were operating under got the name Tarre Vizsla, even though Tarre at that point wasn't a member of aliit Vizsla. House Vizsla yes, but not the Clan. That came later.
So for way too long Tarre just assumed that all these things they were doing, he was doing under a shared name, sure, but they still were two people and Marek was the higher ranking one of them, so naturally he was the one the Mand'alor title actually belonged to.
Until they all had to tell him that 'no, you idiot, you are the one doing all the work here, it's your position. Marek is just here to yell at people and, if necessary, shoot them.'
5. & 6. I'll have to answer together because they share a lot of commonalities
I'm firmly in camp 'Tarre was a convert' (in the end) (kinda).
It's quite possible that one of his parents was a Mando, simply because of the smoothie blend that his genetic are, but they were not around to make decisions when he first exhibited Force powers. So he went through a normal(ish) jedi childhood (minus the truly being bad at jedi-ing) until he went to ilum and came back with an old god as his saber.
But since this was the old republic and things generally were a lot stranger back then, no one - Tarre included (plus, he still was a child back then u know) - really questioned it. Tarre just was one of those Jedi with a weird colored lightsaber. Happens from time to time, right?
(as for why Kad Ha'rangir chose Tarre... who knows what the gods think, right? especially a god that literally is change. The Force works in mysterious ways)
Him properly becoming a Mandalorian was.... well, who can say when exactly it happened. Maybe he was one from birth, just 'temporarily misplaced' due to external circumstances, maybe he became one when a mandalorian god called dibs on him, maybe it happened when an old weaver lady whose backyard he crashed his shuttle in also called dibs of her own, or it's possible it happened when he got his first set of beskar'gam, or when he officially became mand'alor, or when he properly got adopted into Clan Vizsla or perhaps even at some other, small junction of his truly strange life.
Or maybe it never really happened at all? Who knows. I don't think anyone ever made him swear to the resol'nare (if that even existed in that form back then), they just looked at him and said 'yes, this is what peak mandalorian-ness looks like' o( ̄▽ ̄)👍
(half of them were looking at Marek when they said that. that's why the statues look nothing like Tarre)
And I think if you had asked Tarre at the end of his life what he was, he genuinely might have answered with "a Jedi"? Because that's still the thing he grew up with and he only (temporarily) fled from it due to of his own anxieties. Like. All the work he did on Mandalore was because of the things he learned as a Jedi - to help where he can and strive to make a better galaxy for the people around him.
It just so happened that the people around him technically were the Order's mortal enemies.
#uhm. so. yeah#i said this was a beast#sorry not sorry#tarre is a bit of a blorbo of mine and one i rarely get to talk about#but i hope this answered your questions!#if not. well. my asks are always open XD#but yeah#cringefail jedi tarre my beloved#i will acknowledge that half of this is me bending over backwards to kinda unify the little bits of canon we have with my own headcanons#but also. tarre vizsla is so free real estate that i am not at all sorry about it#and ive seen so many fanon depictions of him predominantly being mando#that i. as a known jedi lover. simply HAD to make him predominantly jedi#even if he is bad at it#and i also think making him distinctly nonviolent reluctant ruler just puts much more of an interesting spin on the canon timeline Vizslas#and their rhetoric of why they have some sort of hereditary right to rule#because then it literally is all lies#they took his legacy and used it for their own gains#random boli thoughts#star wars#me writing#answering asks#tarre vizsla#star wars headcanons#long post

Sometimes I want to read genderbend fic because I want to see how things would realistically turn out if one or more characters were women instead of men - how relationship dynamics would change, how political situations would change (based on the setting), how much social issues would affect or not affect them.
Sometimes I want to read genderbend fic where everything is the same because I just want more women.
#my mood changes constantly. especially if it's a historical (ish) setting. like sometimes i'm curious how women (who were powerful#political figures as male characters) are treated or how they navigate canon situations as women. how much changes. yknow.#and then other times i'm like SCREW HISTORICAL ACCURACY. canon doesn't change. let me see a powerful woman in charge.#i'm saying stuff#gender bend#rule 63

Do you think an Ackerman can bond twice? Like not have two lieges at once but let’s say in Levi’s case, he lost Erwin, do you think he’d be able to bond with another liege? What about post-rumbling when his powers are no more, would he then just love like a regular person?
ohhhh THIS is interesting. i’ve never thought about the first thing before. there’s about uhhh 0 canon information about this so i’m gonna mostly spitball🤔
a background to how i think the "ackerbond" works in the first place
*disclaimer, i don’t believe the ackerbond is strictly romantic.
thinking about erwin and eren in relation to levi and mikasa.
1: whenever there’s a scene from levi’s point of view - especially after erwin dies - the majority of the time there’s going to be a callback or mention of him. (i think there was a joke in the fandom where isayama has drawn the crate scene from every visual perspective imaginable lol.)
the same goes for eren in mikasa’s point of view, especially when he’s been put in danger.
in many respects, the opposite is true from eren/erwin’s pov, but for eren especially after the rumbling begins. scenes from his point of view are nearly nonexistent, but they heavily feature mikasa.
it's also been pointed out before that in this promo image, mikasa is featured the most. i can find the link if anyone's interested.
2: mikasa is viciously protective of eren and is always looking out for his well-being in general. levi’s protectiveness is much less obvious, and also, he’d always follow an order from erwin even if it puts erwin himself in danger. levi's feelings about erwin primarily revolve around trust.
you don’t see levi or mikasa interacting with or depicting these behaviors towards anyone else in the series. besides erwin/eren, my very next idea of a second person to develop the “ackerbond” with would be hange and armin, respectively.
so what about hange would make someone like levi want to trust them implicitly? what Thing (like Erwin’s passion towards a peaceful world) do they have that would complete levi? erwin showed levi hope. someone can rb with their thoughts.
and as for mikasa, armin or mayyyyybe jean? i think that mikasa looked for true love in eren because the foundation of her character is, ‘this world is cruel, but also very beautiful’. eren showed her love the day her parents died. again, someone can rb with their thoughts.
but that’s the “ackerbond” develops in my mind.
again this is my opinion, but i would say no, that once an ackerman finds their special person, that kind of bond can’t be replicated with another. (tho another part of me really wants to say yes lol)
as for your second question, the “ackerbond” being grouped in with their powers implies that this special and intense propensity to love is supernatural / is first a trait belonging to titans.
but love is an innately human ability.
granted, i don't believe that mikasa for instance just "likes eren so much", so i think zeke is underplaying it, but still.
i think that trait is just a part of an ackerman. IF it were the case that it was somehow supernatural (like just for example, an ackerman experiencing their liege’s pain and vice versa), then that would go away with their powers. but that doesn't appear to be the case in canon at all.
but otherwise, i think that the “ackerbond” would still be there even after the war. in a nutshell levi and mikasa love hard lol
#just as another disclaimer... i dont want anyone to think that my word is law or something or feel they cant think a certain way because i#said it#especially w stuff like the nature of the ackerbond where there is so little canon info and has plentyyyy of potential for fanfic or hcs to#fill the blanks#its impossible for me to be fully right w/ this#but hell even for stuff that is canon fandom thrives off bending those rules even tho it wouldnt 'work' in canon#so like say idfk you want to ship mikasa with sasha in season 4. just make up a scenario where sasha is alive and mikasa is bonded to her i#you want#you want levi to be a trans man who has an ackerbond with erwin hange and mike? who cares go ahead!/pos#kane has mail#aot meta#eruri#eremika.pic

I... I keep forgetting that your fanfics aren't canon, I can't read any other fanfics because I'm like "why do they ignore the whole macaque and mayor's story? It's so important, it shows the motivation of the characters and- oh yeah, that's not canon."
Well, if this isn't one of the greatest compliments of all then I don't know what is XDD. Besides from being able to make people allegedly cry (or, somewhat make them feel emotional), the fact that I must have accidently brainwashed you into thinking what I have written is canon, and not just a jumbled mess of my self indulgent headcanons is single handedly enough of a compliment to make me exactly 1% stronger than previously.
Because it simply means that what I have written is enough to align with canon. So thank you :DDD. I guess this means I am using the source material faithfully after all. Deep down in my heart, I know that Macaque and Mayor must have some sort of beef with each other, and Macaque being handed the Skeleton Key could not have been as easy as LBD just 'handing it to him'. Because how does that even fit on the LMK timeline??? It makes no sense, she should be imprisoned when Macaque died, right?
#ask#blue and violet#I think I have brainwashed myself too#Because I have been pulling the LMK apart by the seams just to try and make shadowpuppet work in the most canon way possible#and this involves creating more issues between them and more interactions and more reasons to reconcile#but i know deep down these two jerks will never love each other#so I have to bend some rules in terms of Macaque's personality and force these two into way too many situations#forced proximity if you will#I also had to take so much advantage of the fact that Mayor barely has a personality to make shadowpuppet work#I can do whatever the hell I want with the guy as long as I make sure they're still a little unhinged and silly#Anyways I love it when my slowburns last for hundreds/thousands of years

The Fire Sage Fiasco Chapter 1: The Party
Characters: Rangi and Yun (Kyoshi variant later)
Pairing: Rangshi (variation, reincarnation by a diff name :'D)
Summary:
It was just supposed to be a normal birthday for Rangi, but everything changed when the Fire Sages attacked!
(AU: What if Rangi was the Avatar?)
Other Sites: AO3
A/N: “Another Kyoshi/Rangi centered fic, Salty?” What if I said I have a problem? ;w; Or should I say I was possessed? TT0TT
(also I realized I never posted this on here...oops)
______
The sun was high in the sky with nary a cloud in sight. Rangi nibbled on what was probably her hundredth mushroom in the past hour. Her mother really went all out for her birthday. Despite the price and season, her mother had found a way to fully stock a special reserve of stalknose mushrooms just for her.
There were plenty of other delicious foods for her guests to enjoy. Her guests, which was just a small gathering of Avatar Kuruk’s, and now Avatar Yun’s, entourage, and some of her own well extended family members.
Avatar Yun had convinced Jianzhu to celebrate Rangi’s sixteenth birthday in the Fire Nation on her home island. She told him he didn’t need to, and that she was fine celebrating it in Yokoya, but secretly she was relieved he’d done it. Turning sixteen was an important year in the Fire Nation, so the fact she was able to do it here was a blessing like no other.
The only downside is that her days before and after her birthday had been and would be filled with more and more dry Avatar meetings. Not that she completely minded, as long as she was helping the Avatar and fulfilling her duty, she was content. There was nothing she’d trade in the world for her position.
“I never thought I’d see the day! You? Enjoying something? Who would've guessed!” She heard a chuckle beside her.
Rangi turned around and saw Avatar Yun, and pouted as she stopped consuming one of her glorious mushrooms. “What? They’re…..a delicacy. I’m just enjoying them while I can.”
“You know you’re allowed to say ‘I like this,’ right?” He grinned at her.
She blushed in annoyance. “I-I know that! I’m just saying, it’s great to enjoy such a rare opportunity. Is that so wrong?”
He raised an eyebrow, his stupid grin turning into a stupid smirk. “So, translation, ‘I really, really like these stalknose mushrooms, Yun! I hope I get them every birthday!’ Is that right?”
Rangi kicked a sturdy rock towards him, which he knocked away with a wave of his finger.
“Attacking the Avatar, now?” He squinted at her, challenging her. Well two could play at that game.
“It’s my birthday wish,” her voice dripping with sarcasm as she gave him her own smirk, now tapping another rock at him. He kicked it up and started to juggle it.
She kicked up another rock, then another, and another. And he caught each one, and juggled it expertly. He switched from two hands, two just juggling them with one hand, and mocked yawned with his free hand. “Is that all you got?”
“Oh? Is the circus in town?” A disapproving voice approached. It was Rangi’s mother, Hei-Ran.
Rangi stopped what she was doing, and stood at attention. Yun dropped the rocks he was bending and gave her a sheepish smile. “Oh, c’mon Sifu! It’s a birthday party! We’re just having fun!”
Hei-Ran massaged the bridge of her nose. “That type of fun is only allowed for children or Air Nomads. Both of which, you two are neither.”
The two teens pouted, even at a birthday party, they had to be mindful of who was around them. Even among her own family, they had to maintain their image. Maybe I should’ve had it back in Yakoya. Rangi thought sullenly. At least they wouldn’t have to worry about some of the more troublesome Fire Nation customs. It was her birthday, surely some tomfoolery wouldn’t be a sin?
A rock whizzed past Rangi right over to Yun, Yun snapped his arms to catch it. “Air Nomads can have fun you say? Then what if this Air Nomad dragged them into it?”
Kelsang approached, giving Hei-Ran a cheerful grin. Hei-Ran responded back to her old friend with a small frown, and then a nod, before walking away. Yun looked at Hei-Ran confused, but Rangi completely understood the interaction. ‘Took you long enough, now they can let loose. But don’t drag me into it.’
Kelsang took the opportunity to air puff up the rocks Yun had previously dropped, which caused Yun to start juggling again.
Rangi resumed her original goal of finding the nearest rock, and then kicking it over to Yun like a ball. Kelsang mirrored her, but would find much heavier rocks to airbend over to the boy. Yun expertly caught each one.
Rangi found one about the size of a Kuai ball. She put her toe on top of it, before flicking it and maneuvering her same toe under it, as if she was going to juggle it with her foot. Outright kicking this rock at Yun would’ve hurt her too much, she needed to find a way to throw it. But bending down to pick it up made her feel uncool, so she opted for a foot throw.
She anchored her other foot down, and thrusted her foot forward. It sailed to Yun easily, which surprised her a little. It felt lighter than it had looked, but she chalked it up to her leg muscles getting stronger from the new horse stance routine she'd recently started. She couldn’t help but feel a bit proud knowing her muscles were getting stronger, just because she upped her training regiment a bit.
They kept up the pace, and eventually Yun started to draw a crowd. Impressed by how much earth he was bending at once.
The only thing that could make them stop was a gasp at the front gate. Everyone turned their heads and saw what the commotion was.
A group of Fire Sages were marching towards through the gate, they looked haggard like they had sprinted to get there. It must’ve been an emergency.
Rangi stood at attention and flanked Yun, the party was over, she was in Avatar bodyguard mode again. Yun masterfully stopped the juggling, and lowered the pieces of earth safely to the ground.
“What seems to be the problem?” Yun asked the approaching men. Jianzhu and Hei-Ran approached just as fast as the sages, flanking Yun and Rangi’s side.
The leader of the Fire Sages stepped forward. “A-Avatar….” he gasped.
He looked at the ground, unable to look in Yun’s direction, or any direction for that matter. None of the sages behind him could do so either.
They looked pale, like they’d seen a ghost.
“Yes? Again, is there an issue?” Yun’s eyes softened upon seeing the older man’s distress growing more and more.
“I-I’m sorry, Avatar!” The leader’s hand flew to his forehead, wanting to run it through his hair, but instead he almost knocked his hat off. “We-we didn’t know! It….It wasn’t time! We thought we had more time, but-but the sacred fire it just…… We had no idea! Something went wrong! Terribly wrong!”
He was choking out sobs now. Almost as if he was awaiting a divine punishment.
Benevolence rested on Yun's face as he took a step forward, reaching his arm out to comfort the sage. “Please sir, it’s ok! I’m sure whatever it is we can fix it-”
The sage head shot up, and took a step back away from Yun. As if afraid he’ll be struck by lightning. “No! No, it cannot be fixed!” He was almost angry, but where it was aimed at was anyone’s guess.
“You cannot talk to the Avatar that way!” Rangi yelled at the man, who curled in on himself in response.
Yun put his hand up, signaling to her that it was alright and he didn’t mind the man’s outburst. Rangi fell back.
“I-I can’t believe….” As the leader was mumbling trying to figure out what to say, a younger sage started to speak up through a thick sob. “I…I can’t believe it. That Avatar Kuruk’s record was broken, and s-so soon…and…” The young sage then began to wail.
Yun looked back at Rangi and his sifus, eyes wide and eyebrows raised. Rangi, Kelsang, Jianzhu, and Hei-Ran could only return the exact same look right back at him. What record was there of Kuruk’s to break? From one of his silly competitions? It was the only thing that made sense. But why would something like “heaviest boulder lifter” bring the Fire Sages to tears?!
The younger sage collapsed to his knees, his brethren trying to get him to stand back up. Tears were silently streaming down their faces as well.
The leader spoke again, his voice shaky. “I apologize, this should be a happy occasion. I-we….. It’s just…… thinking about how this has come about, it’s just horrible.”
The younger sage was wailing louder, through his sobs Rangi could only hear one phrase ‘too young, too young.’ He kept repeating it, like a chant. It set her entire being on edge. Her bones, her blood, her skin, it all prickled. It wasn't something bad that happened, it was something ghastly.
Finally the leader picked his head up, and looked directly at Jianzhu of all people. His face looked like it had aged a hundred years. “I am so sorry. You all were robbed.”
Jianzhu stepped forward, his voice booming. “Robbed?! Do you mean Yokoya? Or one of my other-”
The leader held up his hand to stop Jianzhu from speaking, and just shook his head.
“Then what?! What was I robbed of?!” Jianzhu bellowed.
The leader didn’t answer, whatever it was, it was too painful for him to say. Instead, he just turned his attention to Hei-Ran, his eyes pleading at her.
“Jianzhu, hold on.” She put a hand on her friend’s shoulder and pulled him back. “Fire Sage, please state your business here. I don’t think we can handle any more of the suspense.”
She gave a small smile to the older man, surely hoping that friendliness would coax the answers out of him. It worked. He seemed to regain some composure, and gathered the strength to push forward.
The leader closed his eyes, and his voice shook. “We’re here for the Avatar.”
Yun took another step forward, exasperated. “Well I’m here, so what-”
“Not, you.” The sage cut off Yun, his face was now hardened refined like pure steel.
In what felt like an eternity, they all witnessed the Fire Sages’ eyes slowly drift towards Rangi. It took another eternity as they each, one by one, sunk to the floor into a full dogeza bow.
“It is our honor to serve you. Avatar Rangi.”

A/N: Dun dun duuuuuuuuh. 8U Was just going to make this a “haha” silly tumblr post on my main account. But then I was like “Oh but what if I really just dove deep into this lil nugget?” And now we’re here.
Anyway, AHHHHH lol, I dunno where I’m going to go with this (don’t expect fast updates TT0TT). I’ll break canon if I can get Rangshi to work (actually I don’t think I have to break anything, iirc I think I can make it work with what LoK gave me)! But atm I just wanna spiral with this and Rangi~!
I did make an alternative version of this, it’s a one-shot called “Tea Readings”. ;U It was supposed to be funnier, but it ended up being dramatic too TT0TT
Btw, I’m writing this before Reckoning of Roku comes out, so…..if they explain how they identify the Fire Avatar……..and it happens to not be how I do it….well…..darn. 8U How they identify the FIre Avatar was hinted at here, but should be fully explained for the next chapter (only two chapters have been fully planned, I have an idea of what to do next but nothing typed out yet).
#rangi seinaka#kyoshi#rise of kyoshi au#kyoshi au#kyoshi fanfic#chronicles of the avatar#rise of kyoshi#rangshi#rangi#rangi sei'naka#shadow of kyoshi#kyoshi variant will probs show up in ch 3 or 4 u_u#i will break/bend rules to make rangshi still happen ok?#*looks at LoK* I may not be breaking it THAT badly tbh#it might actually work fine in canon kajsdfklajf it's a grey area

Shounen protag Firestar is awesome and cool and I love those types of designs, especially with the fire motif lending well to anime hair, but I know when I get to him, I want to make him look kind of like a geek? At least when he's Firepaw/Fireheart. I always saw him as the type that, while gullible and easy to persuade, is always questioning things and seeking out knowledge. He wants to learn each and every type of clan job there is, and he's all too willing to sniff around when Tigerclaw is acting suspicious. He's definitely an action guy, but he uses his head a lot and takes special care when making tough decisions, something that he honed when he became deputy.
So in my hypo-rewrite au, I wanna lean into this a bit. He joins the clan ready to stuff his brain with every bit of clan culture, their festivities, their training, their contruction, their meals, their practices, and he even becomes a bit of a medic assistant, spending a lot of time with Spottedleaf in the medic's den (NOT romantically like in canon, I wanna retool Spotty as well, but she's a mentor figure the same way Bluestar and Yellowfang are). He's ambitious, he is that guy who is striving for that 4.0 GPA, he wants to prove himself and be in every single type of patrol. And this combined with his knowledge from when he was a kittypet, makes it easier for him to note when things don't line up, and when that happens, he's shoving his nose in it.
But he's book smart, but not street smart. When he goes into a conversation unprepared, he can be tricked pretty easily with "Um, Tigerclaw was obviously at the border with brokenstar's lackeys cause he was telling em off, DUH." Because he still wants to see the best in people despite that- and that can be a double edged sword. So while he's a little detective, yeah he needs the help sometimes. He's also not great with thinking on the spot, he needs a lot of time to ponder what action he's going to take on sniffing out evidence for his case. He doesn't really hone this until he's deputy.
#i reread into the wild and the first bit of fire and ice recently and tbh i dont quite think that holds up in canon#firepaw just accepts a lot of what hes told without too much question#which mayyybe could lend to him not being street smart but idk#i do like how in canon he's willing to break the code and go against bluestar for the greater good#he will break boundaries if he thinks any good will come of it#and i hate how post tpb they get rid of that quality :/ man#also another reason why hawkleaf au wont be canon to my rewrite is that i wanna keep him bending the rules#and in leadership he doesnt fall to pressure as easily; hardened by his deputyship#so if the other clans were like ''EXILE UR GRANDKIDS!!!!'' he'd go ''lmao kiss my ass''#he did it when starclan was preaching that ''skyclan disbanding and getting exiled was Good Actually'' and he'd do it here#so itll probably be out of character for him to be pressured into going through with that#when leafpaw gives prey to riverclan he does still scold her in public but when no ones looking and theyre in his den#hes basically like ''cmon kid lets go get ice cream'' and they gotta hide that from their clanmates#he lets so much shit slide tbh even with other clanmates who do ''wrong things'' for the right reasons

Done writin for now i gotta get up early but ive gotten the hang of it n kinda worked out how to work this
Also gotten to this interaction i had in my head. I hc that gepard is entirely, fully away of serval purchasing and dealing with objects n goods that arent legal. Like for one hes not THAT oblivious like cmon the tech used to make serval's guitar is suspect at best. But also he like... does nothing bout it. Because for one its serval he knows her and trusts her but
his way of 'rationalizing' it is that Technically researchers in Qlipoth Fort and among the Architects are allowed access to controlled items such as relics n shit. For research purposes and experiments. And Technically serval was booted from the architects BUT. Cocolia didnt take away her credentials as a researcher and mechanic so Technically serval is just researching controlled mechanisms at a secondary location so its Technically legal.
#in the bones#i think that gepard being strict and all about justice is canon 100% like he abides by the rules strictly#but when his personal life clashes w his job n puts his rules into question. he rationalizes it n bends his strict sense of right n wrong#in order to 'justify' these things#like its still according to the law! even if its a stretch ok
