In our WORK issue, we asked The Nib’s Inkwell members to tell us how they got even for long hours, low pay, no benefits, and a general lack of respect for working stiffs.
In short: What’d you steal? Drawn by Ben Passmore.

BTTM FORS. While I wasn't immediately sold on the idea of gentrification horror, Ezra Clayton Daniels and Ben Passmore made two of my favorite comics of the past couple years with Upgrade Soul and Your Black Friend, respectively, and so I found myself excited to see how this would shape up. I think ultimately BTTM FORS falls short of the high standards of both their previous works, but still succeeds at highlighting some strengths of both contributors, while pushing their work in new directions. Clayton Daniels continues to make stand out body horror anchored to weird science concepts, while leaning further into racial and class politics. Ben Passmore's voice seems more prominent in early parts of the book, particularly the more charged discussions the characters get into, which are in the vein of his previous work. But I found myself hugely impressed with the nasty nasty creature and body horror he pulled off in this, which carries a lot of the stories ultimate satisfaction. While the characters in this were often more mouthpieces for a perspective than people, leading to a couple stilted conversations and dragging story beats, BTTM FORS was still a worthy read, with a lot to say and some interesting ways of going about it.

A szerelem fáj
