So in the RP I'm in with @lizzywrites1 & @aquaauratora Bruno and Belisa's twin sons Adriano and Mancio (I'll post them later and edit this with their link) have the gift of limited time travel (Adriano can travel to the past, Mancio can travel to the future) and they wanted their mama and papa to meet sooner than they did in life...
In doing so the butterfly affect happened and... lo and behold... Bruno and Belisa ends up having three children alongside Pepa and Julieta's first three. Pushing the Triplets to fourth, fifth and sixth born. The twins seventh and eighth, and Laila ninth born.
This is the oldest of the butterfly affect kids:
Ezra Nacio Maldonado-Castillo-Madrigal
ALT Name/Nick Name: Lucky D.O.B.: September 13, 1929 Eyes: Clover Green (Activated gift Glows Gold) Hair: Black Brown, like Bruno. High Fade with side swept dreads. Skin: Tan Height: 5'8" Clothing Style: always has chest slightly exposed with untied tassels and shirt has mid-forearm length sleeves. Shirt is very faded green with diamonds (a symbol of luck in Colombia) in a faded but slightly darker green. Pants are essentially better-fitting versions of his papa's, with nice comfortable shoes that match the pants. He wears a sombrero vueltiao that is also green in color, but only wears it on the back of his head as to not mess up his dreads. Colors: Green, light green and brown Mom: Belisa Delphia Maldonado-Castillo-Madrigal Dad: Bruno Jorge Hernando Madrigal Alma Gemela (If Known): N/A Gift: Probability Manipulation Talent (If Non-Gifted): N/A Job: gives an extra boost to people who need a little extra luck that day… or can take luck away if what someone is doing isn't favorable. Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

A Mandalorian medic OC I made :)
Her name is Belisa and originally I based her loosely on Isabella from Dragon Age 2. But I changed my mind on a lot.
Growing up in the midst and aftermath of a Mandalorian civil Belisa had first hand experience of the chaos of conflict. She was enthusiastic about the traditional warrior ways of her clan at first, but as she grew and matured her ideals were shaped by her experiences. Eventually she decided to discard those ways entirely, and she went to study medicine at the university in Sundari.
The idealistic tendencies of the New Mandalorians were refreshing to her at first, but soon she came to believe their pure pacifist ideology was flawed in it's own ways.
When Belisa finished medical school she returned to her clan as a qualified doctor, and while her pacifist tendencies drew ire she proved her courage to them with her tendency to fly into the midst of combat and pull wounded comrades back to safety.
Belisa has stripped her armor of anything considered deadly, replacing her arsenal with an array of darts, shields and other defensive and non lethal gadgets.

Cuando crecemos en medio de la tormenta y la incertidumbre, nos volvemos adultos temerosos, desconfiados. Siendo niños nunca sabíamos que iba a pasar después y analizar los mil desenlaces posibles resultaba incluso útil para poder adaptarnos después. La otra cara de la moneda es que crecemos y nos hacemos torpes para asimilarnos en estados de calma, como si la tranquilidad fuera un privilegio que no podemos (y no creemos) merecer.

Uncovering Twilight: A Formalist Analysis of “Two Words”
Words surround us, from the books we read to the music people listen to. As we come across words through different mediums, it ultimately builds our character as time goes on. As this story hones in the influence of language towards major plot points involving our main character, Belisa Crepusculario, it manages to make us think throughout the mystery that surrounds her and the words that would drive the Colonel to a point of obsession. Such a unique concept for a story definitely provides interesting ways to depict certain scenes in the narrative. Isabel Allende’s use of various literary devices in “Two Words” allows readers to tackle the unfamiliar territories present in her story.
Belisa Crepusculario's name alone holds a metaphor within itself, revealing her enigmatic nature. It quite literally translates to “beauty” and “twilight” respectively, as mentioned in the opening lines of the story. Twilight, referring to neither day nor night, alludes to Belisa’s mysteriousness throughout the story. Her routine of traveling from one far land to another adds to this intrigue: “She journeyed through the country from the high cold mountains to the burning coasts” (p.1). With a beauty that ensnared the Colonel, her essence haunted him every time he thought of the two words that she proclaimed to be his: “And every time he thought of those two words, he thought of Belisa Crepusculario” (p. 6).
The colonel's eyes were often compared to the liking of a ferocious puma: “She saw dark skin and the eyes of a ferocious puma (p. 4). It was a gaze that protruded anger but also brought out a sense of pity to those who sought before them. Soon enough, Belisa’s charm alone would soften this intimidating persona and unlock a whole new side to the colonel: “the whole world could see the voracious-puma eyes soften as the woman walked to him” (p. 7).
Belisa's captivating charm is heavily influenced by the unique words she sold. As each person received their own word, it always came with the assurance that no one else will ever use it the same way as them. People from all around the land are struck by these words in different ways, ultimately depending on its receiver. In fact, two words alone were enough to inflict overwhelming pain on the Colonel: “those two words that were buried like two daggers in his gut” (p. 7). He recited those words like a prayer, increasingly frequent as time went on. This would eventually lead to an obsession that only ever reminded him of Belisa whenever he thought of the words she gave him, representing the previously mentioned daggers.
The sophisticated use of literary devices in 'Two Words' by Isabel Allende does not only enhance the story’s quality but also provides vivid imagery. It delves into unfamiliar territories which only produces a deeper understanding of what Isabel is trying to portray to the readers. Words, though underestimated at times, truly hold a power unlike any other, as demonstrated in the narrative.

Lifted Burden
Our world is constantly changing; it's not the same as it was yesterday, not the same as it was last week, and nowhere near the same as it was 200 years ago, a time when men and women were crushed by imposed gender expectations. A woman had to be a submissive wife who does housework and be innocent and pure, while a man strong to keep his family safe and able to provide for them alone (Appell, n.d).
But “Two Words”, a story published in 1989 by Latin American author Isabel Allende, shows how gender expectations have changed since those times; in the past decades, people have been able to slowly accept the idea that we are not confined to these roles.
To show how "Two Words" conveys this idea, let’s talk about two of its characters: Belisa and the Colonel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Belisa
Tumblr media
Child Belisa. Emaze.(n.d.).taken from https://www.emaze.com/@aiiczqcw/Two-Words-(Feminist-Criticism)
Belisa, the female lead, steers far away from stereotypical female expectations, reflecting the significant progress feminism made in Latin America by the 1980s.
For a point of comparison, let’s talk Pride and Prejudice (P&P). In P&P, marriage is a woman's ultimate goal and the only way for her to have a secure future, meaning a woman could never be independent. A woman couldn’t even own property during the time P&P was set. (Austen,2003)
But times have changed, Belisa’s not confined to that goal. She’s more independent, and this is established as early as the first sentence when it’s explained that her family was too poor to name their children, which means “Belisa Crepusculario” wasn’t something given to her, but something she worked for. Starting from her name, she had to work hard for everything she had: her skills and her business. Belisa is also nowhere near submissive (see page 3, where she gets manhandled and “demanded to know the reason for such rough treatment”) nor is she portrayed as completely “pure” (see page 4, where she suddenly wants to “fondle” the Colonel).
So yeah, Belisa was pretty far from a “traditional woman”.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Colonel
Tumblr media
The Colonel. Craiyon. (n.d.). taken from https://www.craiyon.com/image/uwTEnbLwRL6dGDmKa1PjCA
The Colonel embodies the flexibility that’s been integrated into gender roles.
One could argue that the Colonel was just another traditional man, though. He was someone people saw as strong, someone who led and was always at the head, and these were traits expected of a traditional man.
But that wasn’t all that the Colonel was.
For example: “....the whole world could see the voracious-puma eyes soften as the woman walked to him and took his hand in hers” (Allende, 1989, p. 7)
While it's subtle, this quote portrays a submissive, emotional side to the Colonel, contrasting the victorian/traditional “dominant, stoic, manly man” idea. (Man up – the Victorian Origins of Toxic Masculinity, 2017)
And that’s the thing. Anyone, male or female, should be able to choose what roles they want to fill regardless of who traditionally held those roles and expectations. They aren't trapped just because they chose a “traditional role”, and this idea is perfectly portrayed by the Colonel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Two Words'' is a story with feminism far from its main focus, but that's what makes it great to analyze from this perspective. From stories like these that don't focus on feminism, we get to see what authors consciously and subconsciously expect of different genders. While one author doesn't reflect the thoughts of society as a whole, the works that an author leaves behind still serve as proof that the ideas they had existed, and sometimes, that's enough proof to believe that our world changed, hopefully for the better.
