Just a regular day in the life of Spider Juliett! First she looks if the scientists are doing anything suspicious and super-villain-adjacent! If she finds anything, she swoops in as Spiderwoman and fights the bad guys! Just another successful day in the life of Spider Juliett!
#oc#my ocs#juliett#june#spidersona#Since Juliett has recently become the 51% share holder of the evil scientist company technically all the scientists sort of work for her#Because her evil supervillain parent died#So technically she could tell her scientists to do some nice science instead#But then she wouldn’t have anything to do as Spiderwoman! And since being Spiderwoman is like the only thing keeping her sane right now#allowing the scientist to keep creating new super villains is a necessary step right now#No her mental health is Not Going Well I know#Spidersona AU Juliett is currently the version of her with the worst mental health#So i think she’s allowed to let the scientist create new villains for her to fight. It’s called self care or something

BATEZ!!!!!!!!!!! MY BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS WITH SO MANY DISORDERS
not pictured: them ourple
they used to be an ok ko lets be heroes fancharacter until the fun little fic story i was writing for them got out of hand and now their story is a whole beast of its own im writing with @spacepumpkins
theyre nonbinary and also dont have a human sex (bc theyre. not human). theyre around 40-50ish years old. theyre demiromantic and demisexual and they have loved exactly Two people in their life (both deceased now) and do not care to find a third
theyre the eldest child of an infamous supervillian + his (slightly less) infamous villianess wife who both died during a Mysterious House Fire when Batez was a teenager. he was super abusive and she turned a blind eye to his abuse at best and joined in at worst.
theyve got four younger siblings: conjoined twins named Brams and Stoker (both boys(?)), a girl named Fig who is a living beehive, and another boy named Barnam (who has gone missing since a week or so after the housefire). Batez occasionally reaches out to them (-Barnam, of course), but they feel like their siblings probably lead happier lives when theyre not around. Brams and Stoker are six years younger than Batez, Fig is thee years younger than the twins, and Barnam is five years younger than Fig.
post-parent-death, Batez and their siblings were put into foster care and started attending public schooling. Batez especially struggled to make friends and connect with people, as they were publicly known as the child of the greatest supervillain of the past century and people automatically assumed the worst of them, despite their best efforts to show theyre not their parents
they eventually are able to start a superhero team with their only closest friend, but it falls apart after a few years when a cocky newcomer insists that Batez MUST still be evil and eventually pushes them too far. they decide "you want a villain? fine. I Will Give You A Villian"
blah blah blah, stuff happens, a super hero dies, theyre blamed for it, they go to bottom storage jail for a long time, theyre eventually let out on good behavior/a villain rehabilitation program
theyre retired now, for the most part. but two of their old minions keep coming by trying to start villainy back up, and also they found a trash child rooting through their garbage and now they have a daughter? her name is The Screech and she thinks she's his minion and hes still a villain, even though he tries to tell her otherwise. shes my special baby girl and i love her <3
non story stuff: theyre a musical prodigy and their villian group was an orchestra that caused chaos with the music they played. their favorite instruments to play are violin and piano, but they can play basically anything. also theyre a contortionist. and technically a plant. same with the twins and Fig. Barnam is a bit more meat based than the others.
BONUS SCREECH AND BATEZ DOING A THREE-LEGGED RACE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS IMAGE SO MUCH DRAWN BY @spacepumpkins
Screech is blind and uses echolocation to "see". those bat ears are part of her hat, they help amplfy her hearing. also she taught herself how to code! shes a little menace and i love her so much <3 shes about 6-11 years old

scrolling through my dash at an ungodly hour in my timezone and seeing the miraculous ladybug tag go from a regular tag to a trending tag was an experience. it's begun...
IT'S BEGUN
Since we're here, we're gonna give a basic rundown of my biggest gripes:
1.) Adrien is kept out of the final battle entirely
2.) Gabriel wins. Even though he ultimately dies, he wins
3.) Mari basically hands him the win on a silver platter by continuing to believe he'll do the right thing and just. Not properly disarming him before dropping her defenses.
4.) While Chloé didn't appear in this episode, I have to compare how
13/14-year-old lashing out because of trauma: Evil. Scum of the earth. Deserves the abuse that happened to her and all further abuse. Dealt with by slowly stripping away all scraps of happiness in her life and everyone, even her father, abandoning her and sending her off to be 100% controlled by her abuser.
Grown ass abusive father and local supervillain terrorist who tried to start WWIII: Oh he's just sad because he wants his wife back and went a touch too far. He's still a good person! Let's let him get everything he wants! Sure he'll die in the process, but he's remembered as a good hero and a fantastic parent and an overall great man!
5.) Adrien is not told about any of this. Not told about being a Sentimonster, not told that his dad was Monarch, etc.
6.) Chat Noir isn't told about any of this. Yes I'm considering this a separate thing because while I can somewhat understand not telling Adrien to 'protect him', not telling CHAT NOIR????

Title: The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee Author: Ellen Oh Genres: Contemporary, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance Pages: 305 Publisher: Crown Books for Young Readers Review Copy: eARC provided via NetGalley Availability: Available now
Summary: Mina has become the hero of her own story. Literally.
When Mina Lee woke up on Saturday morning for SAT prep, she did NOT expect
Nearly be fried by a superhero who turned out to be a supervillain.
Come face to face with Jin, the handsome boy of her dreams.
Discover a conspiracy involving the evil corporation Merco that she created.
And it’s all happening in her fictional world. Mina is trapped in the story she created. Now it’s up to her to save everyone. Even if it means losing Jin forever.
From the award-winning author of Finding Junie Kim and co-founder of We Need Diverse Books, Ellen Oh. In the speculative fiction adventure Colliding Worlds, a teenage artist grapples with her first love, grief, and learning how to take charge of her own life.
Review: [The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee contains scenes describing human medical experimentation that, while not graphic, could be unsettling for some readers. Grief is also a present theme, as Mina’s mother’s died three years ago, and the Jin in the webcomic is based on a childhood friend who died of cancer.]
If you’ve ever enjoyed a webcomic where a “real world” person ends up in a fantasy world, you should give The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee a chance. It’s a solid example of the genre while still being able to have a bit of fun with the medium itself through meta moments like Mina realizing that something big will almost definitely happen at a school dance—just because it’s a school dance, and she’s in webcomic set at a high school. A lot of tropes, events, and characters get played straight or played around with in entertaining ways, and I enjoyed Mina’s lampshading throughout.
Mina and Jin were the stars of the book, and they had a sweet, sincere webcomic romance. I enjoyed their banter and their teamwork, and Mina was a lot of fun as a narrator. I liked watching her figure out how her powers worked as the webcomic’s creator, and her commentary on genre conventions and other meta gave the story a lot of flavor. Much of the supporting cast was fairly simple, though, and I do wish there had been more time to flesh them out—especially the character that was supposed to be the hero before Mina arrived in the webcomic world.
I would consider The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee to fall on the younger end of the YA spectrum due to its writing style and breezy pace. Some of the horror isn’t as deeply explored as I would expect in an older YA, like Mina’s powers to (accidentally) force the webcomic people to conform to her storyline or the medical/body horror inherent in the villain’s schemes. That said, the book doesn’t shy away from the heavier topics of parental loss—Mina’s mother’s death is still a significant influence on Mina and her father’s lives. I also appreciated the juxtaposition of Mina’s parents’ absences: her mother to death, but present in her art; and her father to work, but present in his worry about Mina’s future.
Recommendation: Get it soon if the premise appeals to you. Ellen Oh’s The Colliding Worlds of Mina Lee is a fun, comfortable high school adventure with a dose of entertaining meta on top. There are some places I wish had been explored more, but the novel is a solid entry in this genre. I finished the novel wanting to read more stories like it, and that’s a sign of a satisfying story.
Extras: Read an excerpt from the publisher

2024 Ficlet Day
Time to empty out my drafts folder and inflict little random plot bunnies on everyone.
Ficlet 1
A Cross-Over Ficlet that No One Asked For:
Once Upon The Boys- The SwanQueen Gambit
I have no explanation, only an image. Superhero Emma and Supervillain Emma...a Vaught Enemies to Lovers production.
Heroes without something or someone to fight are just people in silly costumes.
So for Vaught to sell heroes, they had to create villains.
No one made villains like Mr. Gold. He was the original, after all. He had "died" in a pyrotechnic and blood soaked battle with The Seven years ago. Now he worked at Vaught's lesser known subsidiary. The Storybrooke Institute.
There was a saying in the Supe Community. God's go to Godolkien. Devils go to Storybrooke.
"We have to talk."
Cora Mills, AKA Heart Crusher, had dissapeared from the Supe scene years ago under "mysterious circumstances". Which in Storybrooke meant, she'd been promoted.
"This new angle." She held shook her sleek black tablet at him. "Is awful. I know they've been pushing for more accesible and bleeding heart stories but this is ridiculous."
Cora walked into his office like she owned it. She might one day. She was cut throat and liked, no loved, power. Her powers of mind control, telekinesis, and memory manipulation made her more deadly in the boardroom than she'd ever been in a fight. She poured herself a glass of his best brandy and sat on his plush couch.
"If Mary Margaret Nolan had two braincells left in her pretty head she'd be throwing a fit."
Lady White, a paragon of all things good, had been Cora's professional rival for their entire career. Personally, the two women were oil and water. Everyone, supe and normals alike, knee that the women despised eachother.
Which was exactly why their daughters were being pitted against each other.
"Regina has worked hard to establish herself. She has the skills, the looks and is holding down amazing numbers with the 18 to 45 male demographic. Why would she swear revenge on a GodU dropout with nothing but her parent's legacy to stand on. Swan has done nothing and is not on anyone's radar. Just because that idiot huband of hers-"
Cora never called David "Charmer" Nolan by name. She loathed then so much , she refused.
Cora jabbed her finger on her tablet. It flickered on to reveal a picture of Charmer, Lady White and their daughter The Swan in front of Vaught Tower.
"-wants their daughter to take a place on the 7's roster so they can finally retire."
Gold tuned Cora out for a moment. She was right. It was a weak story. The idea of two supe women fighting over the affection of one unimpressive human man was laughable. Still, it would keep eyes on screens and money rolling in.
Beside, Vaught needed all the good press it could get.
"-and instead of bringing her in to kill or capture them or whatever, they're going with a fight over some man?"
He scrolled through the pictures and the art mock up Vaught had sent over.
Swan's angel like wings, golden curls and white power orbs were stereotypically striking against Regina's dark motif and fire powers.
"They actually want to add evil to her name. The Evil Queen? We'll get our asses sued into ground. Disney will have a field day!"
Gold steepled his fingers and thought for a moment. He'd known about this for weeks. He had a counter offer, but wasn't sure if it was a safe bet. Since Cora was already incenced, maybe he could get her on his side.
Gold didn't want to be sidelined at Storybrooke forever. If he could get one of his Supes a redemption story and a spot on the 7 though? He'd be in a corner office at Vaught the next day.
"Well."
Cora's thirst for power and popularity, even by proxy. Was her weakness. He could, and often had, used it against her.
"There is another option I've been toying with. An interesting pitch if you will."
Cora lowered at him.
"Go on, Imp."
His old supe name. He hadn't answered to it in years. No one but her would call him that to his face.
"What if-"

My idea for a Batman Animated Series.
In the first season he's that stereotypical year one Batman, dark and gritty, a boogeyman to be whispered about by cops and crooks alike, fighting mostly his more reality grounded enemies like Falcone and Black Mask as he struggles to find balance between being batman and Bruce Wayne, and in the finale we see Batman thwart some mobsters trying to break into Ace Chemicals, led by, you guessed it, Red Hood.
Then, in season 2, things get a bit crazier when characters like Riddler, Mad Hatter, Two Face, Penguin and Catwoman make the scene, but none of them come close to the insanity that is The Joker in the finale.
Then season 3 comes around and we begin to expand on Batman's character and the universe around him, bringing in actual supervillains like Mr Freeze, Man Bat, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow and others, while also bringing in Dick Grayson, who Batman meets as Dick's looking for the man who killed his parents, Batman sees part of himself in Dick and takes him in, and offers to teach him how to be like Batman so he can bring his parent's killer to justice, but over the course of Dick's training it becomes clear Dick is not Batman, hes loud when he should be stealthy, makes jokes in serious situations and takes unnecessary risks because of his overconfidence in his abilities, but after a a fight with Mr. Freeze where he almost dies to protect his wife, Bruce starts to wonder if its better if Dick isn't like him, if he could be a better hero than Batman, and thus Robin is born. It would also be the season we start introducing other heroes, like after fighting Maxie Zeus, Batman has a brief and combative encounter with Wonder Woman, and in another episode stops his long lost friend, Oliver Queen, from killing the man who tried to kill him, and in stead brought him to justice, inspiring him to become a hero like Bruce (he'd get the idea of being green from getting green paint spilled on him and a news photographer getting a picture of "The Dark Knight and The Evergreen Archer.") And another episode where Lex Luthor approaches Bruce about buying some tech, but Bruce shoots him down, knowing all too well Lex would use the tech for evil, but the tech gets stolen so Batman travels to Metropolis and meets Superman, and despite neither trusting or even liking the other, they manage to stop Luthor's evil plot, and it would of course have a scene where Superman x rays Batman's mask and sees he's Bruce Wayne, but Bruce would hit him back by sending Clark Kent a pair of glasses with a note that says "These will help with facial recognition software." after he left.
Then season 4 starts with showing Bruce actually going to therapy, and who's his therapist? Why none other than his old friend from med school Harleen Quinzel. This is the season where we see a softer Batman, one who understand some criminals are as much victims as villains, and really steps up as Bruce Wayne, putting his money towards preventing crime rather than punching it, but not to worry there's still plenty of punching, namely against foes of Bruce and Batman alike, such as Hush, Ra's Al Ghul, and the court of owls. Also in season 4 and episode where Robin wants to hang out with other teen superheroes like Kid Flash, Speedy, Aqualad and Wonder Girl, though with Batman helicoptering to make sure they didn't get into too much trouble. This teenage outing inspires Batman to contact other heroes and form thr Justice League. We'd also introduce Batgirl in there somewhere, where after saw some goons break into a warehouse on Halloween, she put on a Batman costume to try and scare them, but the goons saw through the ruse and started shooting, and then the real Batman shows up and tell Barbara to leave it to him, but she couldn't, and using the skills she had learned from her Father, Jim Gordon, she tracked down the thieves, who had been working for Firefly, and helped the Batman take the villain down, but not before escaping a burning building. Commissioner Gordon approached the two of them, but because of the costume and soot that coated her, couldn't recognize Barbara, when asked Batman said she was part if his team. She and Dick would of course be rivals at first, but after time would become friends, and maybe something more..
Season 5, Dick leaves to become a full time Titan, though it's not because he and Bruce have a big fight, more like he feels like it's time to spread his wings and get out from Batman's shadow. Batman would also meet Jason Todd as he's stealing tires, and after taking him in would ask Dick for advise and eventually his blessing to make Jason the new Robin, Dick would agree saying he was working on a new identity anyway, because it's hard being Robin without Batman. Jason would prove more of a handful than Dick was, angrier, more rebellious.
Season 6, The Joker captures Robin and Batgirl, and after beating Robin to death with a crowbar, shoots Batgirl and leaves her to die next to Robin's body. Batman finds them and goes on a rampage, leaving criminals bloodied and more broken than he ever had in his early years, but none of it mattered in his hunt for The Joker, all the while he's questioning himself, if all the work he's done, both as Batman and Bruce, mattered if monsters like Joker existed, and when Batman finally finds The Joker, he beats him to an inch of his life, and almost finishes the job, but Gordon talks him down. And there's a beautiful funeral scene with other heroes there, but after, we see minions of Talia Al Ghul digging up the grave, and it's revealed that the whole thing was orchestrated by Ra's to try and push Bruce over the edge to get him to his way of thinking, something Ra's and Talia didn't see eye to eye on. And we also get to see Joker, in a full body cast, in Arkham, where doctors are discussing what to do with him, and they decide to call the best psychiatrist in Gotham, Harleen Quinzel.
Season 7, Bane breaks Batman's back and puts him in a coma, in Batman's absence crime goes rampant, and Nightwing comes back to Gotham to take up the mantle of Batman and with Barbara/Oracle's help, take down Bane, but they're not the only ones, Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown both try to be Robin but after a lengthy debate decide Tim can be Robin and Stephanie can be Batgirl, Kate Kane, Bruce's cousin becomes Batwoman, Luke Fox, son of Bruce Wayne's tech developer Lucius Fox, becomes Batwing, and even Azrael shows up. Dick, of course, tries to tell the others to leave Bane to him, but even dressed like Batman Dick isn't a convincing Batman, so he takes what he's learned, both from working alongside Batman and from leading the Titans, and leads newly assembled Bat Family to bring Bane down and restore order to Gotham. At which point Bruce wakes up and Dick leaves joking that "they're you're problem now." And at the end we get a little glimpse of the next Big Bad, Red Hood/Jason Todd.
Season 8, After the defeat of Bane by the Bat Family left a power vacuum in Gotham's criminal underworld, Red Hood and his gang of Outlaws take over the streets, leaving death in their wake, but the Bat Family is having trouble dealing with them because somehow the Outlaws know exactly what the Bat Family is going to do, and then it's revealed that Red Hood was Jason Todd and he's mad at Bruce, and it's very emotional, but when Jason puts a gun to Bruce's head, Bruce says he's sorry and accepts his fate, but when Jason can't pull the trigger Talia Al Ghul steps out from the shadows and reveals how she was the mastermind behind the whole thing, how she brought Jason back to life and brainwashed him into being the Red Hood, then uses a sleeper agent code phrase on Jason to make him kill Bruce, but Bruce manages to beat Jason. Talia escapes and Bruce takes Jason back to the cave to try and un brainwash him. Meanwhile Talia crawls back to her father and agrees to his plan, whatever it may be.
Season 9 Joker's back and has Harley Quinn with him, and in a moment alone woth Batman, Harley reveals how she knows Bruce is Batman, but she won't tell because "Mistah J ain't interested in the man under the bat," but it ends with Harley betraying the Joker because she realizes he doesn't love her. Afterwards we get to see Harley being put in a cell in Arkham next to Poison Ivy.
Season 10/Final Season. Ra's Al Ghul declares war on Gotham and exposes Bruce as Batman, but with the help of his family, including Jason who's no longer brainwashed and in his spare time built The Batmobile, and the help of various villains, including Catwoman who says if they survive this they should run away together, they manage to stop Ra's' plan to destroy Gotham, but not before Bruce gets stabbed in the side by a young boy who escapes with Talia as Ra's lays dying. And as the sun begins to rise, all of the Bat Family gathered wonder what happens next, now that they're secret identities have been revealed, but a voice from behind tells them not to worry, as the previously invisible figure presses a button on his wrist a wave of energy pulses over Gotham. The figure says he used some of the Mad Hatter's tech to erase the memories of the Bat Family's secret identities from everyone's mind who didn't know before. Then the figure briefly mentions he's Batman from the future and that they shouldn't worry about Damien, "after all, it's hard being evil when you're the son of Batman." which surprises everyone, "you did know he was your son, right? Uh...gotta go!" Then he disappears. Then we see them all returning to Wayne manor, Alfred sweeping up glass from a broken window, and says "Ah, I see we've survived another night, shall I get the celebratory champagne?" Jason nonchalantly replies "We met a Batman from the Future and Bruce has a son." Alfred processes the information and says "The good whiskey, then." Then as Bruce is getting his stab wound stitched he says he thinks it's time he retired as Batman, the others protest, but Bruce continues to say its just for now, how after everything that's happened he trusts his team, his family, to keep Gotham safe in his absence. Then we see later, at night as Commissioner Gordon stands next to the batsignal on the roof of the gcpd, about to light his pipe Dick, dressed as Batman says "those thing's'll kill ya, ya know." Then the two of them talk about how Batman had retired, for now, and left Gotham in Dick's hand, and Gordon contemplates retirement, and wonders what would happen to the city without him, what would happen to Barbara, to which Dick replies "I wouldn't worry about Barbara, she's made of some pretty tough stuff." Gordon agrees, but when he turns around to ask how Nightwing knows his daughter, Dick's gone and Gordon says to himself "I guess some things never change."

I like the idea of aphmau and sylvanna having a strained relationship but I also yearn for a mystreet character who’s family isn’t fucked six ways to sunday. In the two main groups in myst no one has an onscreen normal relationship with both their parents.
Aphmau: sylvanna’s sylvanna and zach is a: not present and b: a horrible person.
Katelyn: Elizabeth was a bad mother and presumably abandoned her family at some point prior to Katelyn’s teenage years.
Garroth: garte. Also Zianna to a point, but none of her actions seem as malicious as his normal ones.
Travis: his mother died at some point in his childhood, and terry is. terry.
Dante: deadbeat father who left when Gene was very young and Dante was presumably not much older than a toddler.
Nana: we never see her parents, but considering the joke of her name is that it means 7 and she decided to become a racist caricature for attention because of how many siblings she has, I’m inclined to assume it’s not good.
Laurence: he is an orphan, we do not know anything about his bio parents, when he entered the system, or what age he was adopted by the zvahls at. We never actually see his adoptive parents, so they don’t count.
I could go on about other characters too. 90% of mystreet has either a deadbeat parent or a parent they have a bad relationship with. Which is not unrealistic, but it’s kind of irritating that all the good parents are, at best, mediocre or simply aren’t shown enough to be able to tell. Not to mention most of the bad parents are not just bad, they are comically evil. The only provably, intentionally shitty parent of the main cast NOT involved with the forever potions plot is Dante’s dad! This isn’t a friend group with shitty families, this is a friend group most of which have extremely mid civilians and dollar store supervillains for parents!
if some of them were toned down a bit or they had only one bad parent, it would be way more realistic (speaking from personally experience because 99% of my friends also have shitty parents. this is mostly likely a product of 99% of my friends being queer, neurodivergent, and/or disabled with unsupportive parents)
im planning on making a lot of their families at least a bit better because like. it is unrealistic for every single parent ever to be shitty. especially to the point where theyre comic book supervillain esque like you said
there is so much about mystreet that needs to be fixed 💔 i already have ideas for most of it (my rewrite is uh. well. its gonna throw a lot of canon out the window) and the characters' families is something i tackled first because it feels like jess forgot to give them actual families and then tried to patch up the plot holes with "their families are all shitty"
#ask box#❄.txt#i feel like jess really shouldve planned out nana's family in the beginning#because if she has a really big family why does she never bring them up to anyone??#even just as a passing comment of 'my sibling does that too' or something#everyone i know with siblings brings them up at least every now and then. even if its just to go 'yeah my sibling tried to kill me once'#also why do so many of them only have one parent. and just never remarried. i literally know only one person who only has one parent#also off topic but i feel like in media theres an obsession with the trope of 'adopted kid looking for their ~real~ parents'#as someone whos adopted its so fucking stupid literally no one is like that#am i curious? sure. who wouldnt be#do i outright disown my adoptive parents and act like they arent my ~real~ parents? fuck no thats stupid these people raised me#the only media that does that trope that i will still absolutely love forever is a series of unfortunate events#although that was a way more unique approach than what people usually take

Know what’s a weird thought or crossover idea that has been stuck in my head for like three days. A crossover between stargirl and legends of tomorrow were the reader is the son of black canary and green arrow who’s dating Cameron or Rick and Sara meets laurel and Oliver queen’s kid on a earth were they ended up together and the reader talks to his aunt about his parents because they probably died when the isa attacked or something and Sara becoming a aunt. Weird thoughts at nights I guess 🤷🏼
You didn't remember your parents very well, they died when you were 4 so your memories of them were pretty hazy.
Your Aunt Thea decided to leave Star City and raise you in a town far away from superheroes and vigilantes... or so she thought.
You guys arrived a year after the original JSA defeated the ISA so Blue Valley was the perfect quiet town she was looking for.
Growing up Thea gave you archery lessons so you could be connected to Oliver in some way and you were a naturally skilled archer just like your father.
When Courtney was putting together a team to fight the reemerging ISA you were a great fit with your cabinet full of championship trophies to prove so.
You kept your after school activities a secret from both your aunt Thea and your boyfriend Cameron.
Later finding out his dad was a supervillain was less than ideal but you knew Cameron wasn't like that and your aunt would never approve after she had to watch most of her family die because of the consequences that came with that kind of life.
You and the new JSA were fighting Eclipso in the town square when a mysterious ship came down from the sky and gave him an opportunity to get away.
"Where the hell are we?" One of the strangers question as they wander off the ship.
"Uh Blue Valley, Nebraska… you guys aren't aliens are you?" Courtney asks.
"He is," another says pointing to a tall guy with glasses, "and she sort of is," they continue, pointing to a blonde woman, "but most of us are human."
"You can call us the legends, my name is Sara Lance," the blonde says.
"I'm sorry did you just say Sara Lance?" You ask in shock.
"Yeah?" She says confused.
"My name is Y/N, Y/N Lance-Queen, my parents were Laurel Lance and Oliver Queen. My mom had a sister named Sara who died in a boat wreck before I was born… are you my aunt?" You question.
"Appears so," she smiles, "nice to you meet you kid."
As it turns out the legends had accidently crossed over to another earth after resetting their own timeline post the evil AI legends.
They were giving your friends a tour of the waverider and talking about ways to go against Eclipso which gave you a chance to talk with Sara.
"I can't believe Laurel and Oliver got married and had a son" She tells you.
"So they weren't together on your earth?"
"No they weren't, well they were for a little bit but broke up and it's complicated."
"Can you tell me about them? My aunt Thea doesn't talk a lot about my family," you ask her.
She tells you stories about your parents and the countless amount of times they saved the world.
"They may not be the Oliver and Laurel from my Earth but I know they'd be really damn proud of you Y/N. I know my Thea went through some hard times and I can only imagine yours did too, I'm sure it's just too hard for her to bring up painful memories," Sara explains.
"I know she means well but it's hard for me too not knowing so much about their lives and everything they did for people," you tell her.
"Well I'm sure we can figure out a way to stay in touch once we leave, hell, Barry Allen has crossed the multiverse more times than the rest of us combined."
"Who's Barry Allen?" You ask.
"You guys don't have the Flash here?"
"We had a Flash twenty years ago but his name was Jay Garrick."
"Hm, that name sounds familiar, I think he was Flash before Barry, I wonder if he didn't get his powers on this earth… anyways, what is Thea up to?" Sara says changing the topic.
"She owns the Queen coffee shop and bookstore, after we left Star City she wanted to live as much of a normal life as possible." You explain.
"And instead you are following exactly in your parents footsteps," your aunt laughs.
"Yeah she doesn't exactly know about all this yet," you state.
"Don't worry your secrets are safe with me," she winks.
"So that's your wife?" You ask, looking to Ava who is trying to stop Beth from touching some very fragile looking artifacts in the library.
You could hear Beth spewing facts that Chuck was telling her while Nate and Behrad were busy being fascinated by Courtney's stargirl staff zooming around the ship on its own.
"Yes she is, what about you? You following the Lance legacy of stealing hearts?"
You pull out your phone and show her a picture, "this is my boyfriend Cameron."
"He's cute," she says, "I have to meet him after we help you get rid of this Eclipso character."
"I would love that, but he also doesn't know I'm a vigilante, actually his dad was also kind of a bad guy but he died a few months ago and… maybe it's better if we don't talk about family with him and his creepy grandparents," you suggest.
"Duly noted, now you want something to eat? Gideon can make you literally anything your heart desires," she smiles.
"Don't tell Rick that or else he'll never leave," you laugh.
Never could you have predicted a day like today happening but you couldn't feel more lucky to have more family in your life.

Vixen: NYC is set in the same universe as WFA and Mari literally doesn't even have the same name, let alone the same backstory as most of her main series counterparts. Zatanna and the Ripper is set in the same universe, and Zatanna is specifically 21 in that continuity, which makes it impossible for Bruce to have dated her while he was training with her dad - not to mention how much older than her that makes Constantine this time. The Webtoons are a different version of the story from the comics.
I mean, not that the comics are a single universe. There's Crisis and then there's New 52 and Rebirth didn't quite put everything back but it did revert most things. But we're in the middle of a soft reboot now that's reshuffling some things, and doesn't always explain them? Terry's mom and brother are back and they're fine and I don't even know if Mattie is supposed to have been Robin now. Steph's dad is back and set up to be evil at her again. I don't think Bruce and Selena are meant to be divorced or even engaged anymore I think their relationship is moving back to the beginning now. JJ is back but not in an alive way he's just rewritten into the backstory of the comic, but Babs is still Jim's daughter and not his niece. Do you guys know about Alfred's first origin? What about Lance?
The BtAS universe is also a separate one, in which Tim is a poor kid with a mob dad and Jason doesn't even exist. Babs is older in that one, more like her original incarnation, and fell in love with Bruce. Talia died and Ra's took over her body when the Pit stopped working on him, and while Ibn Al Xuffasch might exist, Damian doesn't. Harley and the Joker have both kids and grandkids. Leslie also has a much more central role, even if no screen time.
In Batwoman, Bruce has been dead for years, as has Lucius, and while Alfred exists it's entirely unclear whether there's ever been a Robin, and strongly implied there's never been a Batwoman or Batgirl. Kate has a whole extra sister, and a close friend that's never been mentioned before. Luke is an only child, though.
In Titans, Bruce kills the Joker. He doesn't even take much convincing, because he's always desperately wanted to kill in that universe. He forced Dick to become Robin by making him fight rabid wolves with a machete. Jason was sixteen when he became Robin, and only dead for a few days. Steph, Harper, etc. canonically exist as photographs in a database and don't have anything to do with superheroes. Tim becomes Robin but he's never even met Bruce. Also his parents are very loving and protective people who run a Chinese restaurant that Tim works at with his cousin, an original character. He built an entire bunker full of computers in order to stalk the Batfamily.
In Gotham, all the supervillains appear much earlier than Batman. Babs' mom turns evil and then reforms. There's two Jokers. Bruce is significantly older when his parents die, and isn't friends with Harvey at all. Leslie runs the mafia. Alfred's father abused him into becoming a butler for his entire childhood. Also in that universe the nazis won and everyone travels by zeppelin.
In the Harley Quinn show, everyone is dead. They just kill off everyone. Clock King is mlm and married to Riddler. Damian is a whiny little kid who just wants to play video games and hang out with his friends, but enjoys being super cute for attention on TV. Harley and Ivy live in Catwoman's house with a thousand cats. Joker is the mayor. Babs is just starting college. Alysia is straight. Half the characters simply don't exist.
In Gotham Knights, Steph is an ultra-rich socialite lesbian. Dick might or might not exist, but the rest of the Wayne kids for sure absolutely don't. We're concerned with Turner, who's sort of Jason, except he never knew anything about Batman until he died. Which, Bruce Wayne is dead again. Harper and Cullen are cat burglars for hire. Cullen is trans and found someone to do his top surgery a couple years ago despite the fact that he's supposed to be like sixteen and on the run from his legal guardian. Steph is rich because her dad actually does run a successful quiz show, btw.
In Young Justice, people's ages are flipped around willy nilly. Kaldur is the inspiration behind Jackson, except Jackson is gay, so following that they retconned Kaldur to be bi. Cass was raised entirely by her mother who somehow managed to be even more evil and abusive than her father and literally sewed her mouth shut - also she can't read body language because she was never taught that. There are at least two Roys. Billy was raised by his loving uncle in a comfortable middle class household, but also still became a superhero as a baby somehow. Nothing happened to the Martians, Martian Manhunter just moved to Earth for some reason.
In Batman '89, Dick has an older brother, and that loss is a significant portion of why he wants revenge so badly and is so reticent to develop new relationships. He's also almost eighteen when this happens, and doesn't need a guardian except technically. Babs is not related to Jim, but instead Alfred. Selena is blonde. Bane is Poison Ivy's pet, and Ivy herself had a simple lab accident which expanded her mind hallucinogenically and gave her evil self-confidence. Everyone drag races.
In Birds of Prey (02-03) Selena died when Helena was young but Bruce would have nothing to do with her, so Babs adopted her. Later they take in Dinah, who's a teen runaway, and inherited her Canary Cry from her mother, who went missing in a grand mystery that left Dinah in a vulnerable position. Harley Quinn is completely sane, dresses in modest business attire, still works as a psychiatrist/psychologist but in a private practice, and has been working to spring Mr. J all along.
And let's not even get started on the Shark-Repellent Batspray.
People pick and choose details from all of these all the time. Parts of one will make their way into another, things osmose into the comics and meander back out again. But a universe where the Batkids are closer in age, Damian is still a baby, and they enjoy spending time together? That's beyond the pale? What for???
Begging people to understand what AU means.
Alternate Universe!
It has the same characters as canon but their background might or might not be the same! You cannot complain that the AU doesn’t use the canon content, of course it doesn’t! Is an entire ALTERNATE UNIVERSE!!
#sorry for the long response OP the idea of a single unifying canon really gets to me#look i said something#this is not even getting into how radically different the various out of continuity comics can be#or like. Midnighter. Blue Eagle and Dynomutt. SW Manor. Nightwing and Flamebird. even Ollie. where do they fall in all this?#batman

🎂📰😨😄🎱
🎂 - Do they celebrate their birthday?
Yep! For C.C. all her family and friends are jumping on that and there's a small-to-medium party at her house with cake and party games and whatnot. For Jasper, servants give him a cake and some presents from his parents, maybe some birthdays his parents visit to do something together, take him to a circus or a movie or a play or a musical or something. And each of them will generally take the day to treat themselves to whatever they want to treat themselves to.
📰 - An obituary for your character was found in the local paper this morning. What did it say?
I imagine for either of them, the most likely cause of death would've been dying in battle. Either from a typical superhero-vs-supervillain battle where they just got knocked around a little too much and/or had some real bad luck or just didn't end up quite being up for the task after all, or from a giant entire-world-at-stake movie-level conflict.
I'm sure that kind of thing, for a superhero, would be all over the news, or at least warrant one full article. I wonder, when that happens, do they reveal the superhero's secret identity in it? To more wholly mourn the loss of them? I can imagine that. I can imagine that after saying how Mitochondria died and some words about her being such a great superhero and all, they reveal her civilian name was Carol-Caitlyn Fletcher, she was a student at Superhero Academy (or whatever the school was called), she liked sports and art and aimed to be a professional artist in her civilian life, her friends described her as funny and kind and a go-getter and always wanting to help people, and she's survived by her mom and dad and older sister and younger brother, and then maybe they have her family members say a few words about her.
I thought also about there being an article or obituary for her death as a superhero and a separate, less-looked-at one for her as a civilian, but what would they report for her civilian self's cause of death? Would they just have to make something up? I'm not sure what they would come up with. And it would make me sad, tbh, to think about that. It would feel unfair, for somecreature to have to say she died in a car crash or something, when really she died fighting to save a city or a planet. And for the whole public to mourn her death as a superhero while few people know to mourn the death of her as a person outside of that.
Jasper, well. He's a rather complicated case for this.
No one mourns the wicked, they say.
And he is a villain, after all. He's the one who once drenched half the city in slime, who once turned half the city into cats, who stole priceless artifacts from museums just to juggle them live on TV, who wreaked havoc with robots and ray guns and dastardly inventions of all kinds, who took pleasure in causing mass pandemonium for only his own amusement. I can imagine there being full articles about the deaths of supervillains too, but those would likely be in celebration of them, not to mourn but to rejoice in never having to be subject to their schemes again.
Though I bet they also spend a fair amount of words on Just How Evil those villains were. I hope they make him out to plenty black-hearted and sick-minded, despicable and dastardly. I hope they use plenty of dramatic language to emphasize how much chaos he caused and how he did it purely for his own twisted sense of fun. Jasper would like that, to be remembered that way.
Something else occurs to me too, though.
Dying in a giant movie-level fate-of-the-world-at-stake conflict is almost as much a possibility for him as it is for C.C. But in a situation like that, he'd have temporarily teamed up with the heroes.
Imagine. The public hearing from the press that this dastardly supervillain died helping a team of superheroes save the world. What would that be like?
I imagine C.C. would speak to the press about this. Because the first assumption from everycreature would've been that Count Jokester had had a change of heart and turned around to become a hero, and that wouldn't be the truth, and he wouldn't want to be remembered that way. She'd have to explain to people that he was always exactly the supervillain they all knew him to be, and he never stopped being that, but at the same time, this goodness was always part of him. She knew him as a civilian and he always had human decency about him, however much of troublemaker he was even in civilian life. If he ran into somecreature crying, he'd sit down with them and attempt to comfort them. And he really was instrumental in saving the world. At the same time, the papers quote her saying, "He always intended to go right back to his supervillain schemes once the world was saved. He just needed it to be saved so he could keep having his own kind of fun with it. I did tell him, at one point, that he was great help in this fight, and he wasn't even that bad of a person really, and he could very well turn around and be a good guy full time. He just threw his head back and laughed, and told me, 'Of course I could. But where's the fun in that?'"
Why am I having all these emotions thinking about all this.
Answering this questions for C.C. and Jasper is actually super different than for Maddie T. Like, they're a superhero and supervillain. They're in the public eye. If their deaths were mentioned in the local papers, they'd be something for the whole public to know about. They'd leave a serious mark what with the things that they did with their lives. Something of a legacy. Gosh dang is that something to think about.
😨 - Your character just broke wind in public. Do they try to hide it or own up to it?
C.C. does this pressing-mouth-shut-with-cheeks-puffing-out face, suppressing laughter.
Jasper lets slip a somewhat-reigned-in chuckle/snicker/whatever, then says "Oh, excuse me!" in a very dignified but clearly amused tone.
😄 - What has ever made your character laugh so hard that they almost passed out?
Jasper I feel like has a handful of movie scenes and theater scenes that made him lose his absolute cupcakes when he first saw them and will always hold a special place in his heart and live rent-free in his head. I think also some prank(s) he played at some earlier point in his life went particularly hilariously and made him dang near asphyxiate from laughter and will always be among his fondest memories.
C.C., maybe some joke her dad made once that's now a recurring inside joke within her family? Maybe some ridiculous slapstick-ish incident that happened when she was messing around with her friends?
🎱 - Your character and a talking raccoon walk into a bar…
I mean, C.C. might be concerned about the legality of that considering she's underage. We could just ignore that though, or we could say they just go to like a diner or something instead. In any case in that scenario I imagine the talking raccoon is a fellow superhero I guess. Maybe they want her help with some mission or other, maybe they just. Happened to meet and start talking, I dunno. Oh! Or, alternatively, they're a random person who got turned into a raccoon by somecreature and want her help figuring out a way to turn back and/or stop whoever did that to them and is doing the same to others. Or something. I dunno. Might come back to this.
Jasper I imagine it being a fellow villain. Maybe their backstory is that they were human and got turned raccoon by some chemical spill or failed experiment or something? I dunno. Jasper tries not to tease them too much about it as they seem rather bitter and broody about it. I guess they discuss thir respective villainous plans and junk. Somehow I imagine this raccoon villain is more serious about it and more "today X city tomorrow the world" ish. Maybe the raccoon suggests teaming up at some point. And Jasper does think that sounds like a blast, though he only intends it to be another battle-of-the-day and the raccoon might be thinking bigger than that. If it's explicitly only a take-over-the-world kinda thing, he says he'll pass, and that he respects villains with those sorts of plans but he himself has no intention of doing anything beyond causing some mass chaos and panic to entertain himself. If it's NOT explicitly only a take-over-the-world thing, if it can potentially lead into that if not stopped by anycreature but will start off as just causing a lot of within-city trouble, Jasper happily agrees and they shake hands and get on it.

The Forgotten One
First Previous
Chapter 5
Ladybug and Chat Noir made their debut on a sunny Monday of September. Just as her master had feared that intense energy they felt was only the beginning. Hawkmoth started his reign of terror, releasing his akumas on unsuspecting civilians, using their strong negative emotions, and creating his champions. It was a vile move, attacking someone when they were vulnerable. But Marianne had to admit that he was good. She was trained to do exactly the same thing, to manipulate and exploit someone’s weakness, but at least she had the decency to never use her abilities for personal gain unless extremely necessary. She was a soldier, everything she did was by the order of someone. Her whole training so far had been preparing her for this moment.
So when Stonehart appeared, she was ready.
She knew everything she needed to do, she had been trained since birth for this. Her Master was confident that she had what it took to take down these akumatized people, and allied with the one he had chosen to wield the Cat Miraculous they would be unstoppable. He didn’t tell her the identity of the person he has chosen, but she knew he wouldn’t. For safety reasons, only the Grand Guardian would know the identities of the wielders. But she didn’t need to know his identity in order to work with him.
Chat Noir surprised her a lot. She knew he couldn’t possibly have the same training she had, but he still knew how to fight. He’s trained in fencing from what she can tell by his style of fighting, and he’s very good. After some time they became the perfect duo, always in synchrony and ready for anything. It’s nice to have someone on her side, in the League she mostly acted alone, so having someone that had her back full time was new.
It took two years to defeat Hawkmoth. In those two years that she lived in Paris, a lot changed. First was her name. In order to live completely off the radar of the League, she needed a new name. They had lost contact with the League after the attack, so they never discovered what exactly happened, or who won in the end. She was glad the Mayor of Paris decided that it would be better to ban any rumors of a supervillain in the city from the outside world, fearing that that would cause the tourism to diminish. That allowed her some security, but one could never be too careful, the League was known to have spies everywhere. So she changed her name. In the documents that her godmother forged, she was called Marinette Dupain but preferred to be called Mari because that was closer to her real name. Daughter of a kind baker and his traveler wife, her backstory was that she spent most of her childhood traveling the world with her mother, but now her parents decided that it would be good for her to stay in the same place for more time. She would be homeschooled by Sabine, which was enough for social security to allow her to be kept from attending school. It was kind of funny that she lived so close to a school but didn’t study there.
Another thing that changed was that for the first time she had people she could rely on. Before it was only Damian. He was the only one that she ever told about her fears and insecurities, confiding in him was something she missed in those years apart. They were very close before the attack, and after two long years of thinking she was dead, she wasn’t sure what would happen when they finally reunited. But she hoped it would go well.
When she first transformed, she felt invincible. It was something she would never forget, feeling that kind of power was memorable. It was normal for the suit to incorporate traits of your personality, but it still was a surprise when she saw herself as Ladybug for the first time. She wore a black skin-tight suit that covered her entire body from the neck down, in her torso making the illusion a corset, a part of the suit was red with black spots. She also had boots and a jacket to complement her look, also in red with dots. Her hair tied back in a ponytail was rather practical and allowed her better motion. On her right leg strapped to her tight was a knife holster with a small dagger that served for surprise attacks, her specialty. Around her waist was where she tied her yoyo when she wasn’t using it. To conceal her identity, she wore a domino mask also in red.
In the beginning, she wanted to use another name for her superheroine self, one that paid tribute to her Arabic roots, but Master Fu thought it better to go with a more generic name, that way it would be harder to obtain any type of information about her. In the end, she relented and went with Ladybug.
When Ladybug and Chat Noir first appeared, most of Paris newspapers and tabloids started to question the origin of their superheroes. Some believe them to be aliens, which her Master thought hilarious. Others were certain they were metahumans, born with their powers, and their Miraculous just served as an amplifier, and Hawkmoth wanted all Miraculous to increase his power to the maximum level, in Mari’s case they were partially right about the part of the powers. The one that came closer to the truth was the writer of the Ladyblog, the amount of research she had was impressive for someone so young. She discovered that the Miraculous were older than they thought, dating back all the way to the ancient Egyptian Empire, other than that she was way off. She had this theory that the Miraculous holders were a group of immortal entities that always appeared in ties of need, but recently one of them must have gone bad, tired of centuries in hiding, and the others are trying to defeat them and restore peace. It was a good theory that had some truth behind it, but still very exaggerated. It didn’t help that Ladybug was obviously experienced and that only served to fund this theory even more.
It became a game for Ladybug and Chat Noir to find the funniest theories and share them during patrol. Chat was really good in that, normally he just asked one of his friends what they thought. Mari, not having friends to ask just bought stuff the media printed. These kinds of games helped them relax a little after a tiring battle.
After two years of fighting evil forces, it was impossible for the two superheroes not to be close. Their kind of relationship always reminded Mari of her brother, and she often felt guilty for not being able to reach him. But that only motivated her more in defeating Hawkmoth. Only then she would be able to leave Paris.
Living in Paris was nice, for the first time in her life she created a routine for herself. She had training with Master Fu in the mornings and she helped at the bakery during the afternoons. Every other day there would be an Akuma attack and she would step into her role as Ladybug. Other than that her life became pretty calm compared to what it was at the League. She even got the time to explore her creative side, drawing and sewing became her favorite hobbies.
But nothing ever stays the same for long, not for her.
It was about one year and a half after the attack on the League, just as her Master was getting close to discovering the exact location of origin of the source of evil energy. They knew the owner of the Butterfly Miraculous knew how to read energies, being that what alerted him of the Ladybug Miraculous being activated after Mari was brought back from the dead, but they weren’t expecting him to be able to track them. Her Master energy was easier to locate, even with him being the Grand Guardian, because of his old age.
To this day she wasn’t sure what exactly happened, only that one afternoon she felt as if the energy around shifted and became unbearable. Fearing the worst she went to her Master in search of guidance, but when she was nearing his house she saw him. Hawkmoth in the flesh. Around him were five Akumas previously defeated.
He was at a rooftop engaging Master Fu, who at the time had already transformed with the Turtle Miraculous, in a heated duel. At the side was Mayura, trying to reach the Miraculous Box that was secured inside a green dome. Not wasting one minute she transformed in a nearby alley and went into action attacking the Peacock wielder. She was ruthless in her blows, never leaving space for the other woman to attack. Chat Noir arrived a couple of minutes later and went for the akumatized people, but at that point it was already too late. Master Fu knew that would be his last day on earth, he didn't have the strength to fight and maintain the Box inside the safety dome, so he did the only thing he thought possible. He relinquished his position as the Grand Guardian of The Miraculous to Ladybug.
The box immediately disappeared from the dome and appeared in Mari’s arms. Without wasting a second she used her hidden weapon and stabbed her opponent in the thigh in order to subdue her. Her cries of pain were enough to attract Hawkmoth's attention from Chat Noir, with whom he had just engaged in battle. He immediately went to comfort his partner, using his champions as a barricade to protect them. He escaped. Or rather Mari let him escape. Because she couldn't stop looking at her Master’s body. He was dead. Died protecting the Miraculous. Inside her she felt some piece of her break. Death wasn’t new for her, but it felt surreal to believe the man that saw her grow and taught her almost everything she knew was dead. But there was no time to mourn, a soldier only mourned after the war, and this war was far from being over. But at that moment, looking at the lifeless body of her Master she made a vow to herself.
She would not rest until Hawkmoth perished.
And she would make sure that before he did, it hurt

Hello! Do you have any "real world" timeline of Wanda's backstories (particularly her origins). I know she was created in the 60s, and her first origin seems to have her as the biological daughter of two golden age American heroes. However most wiki pages only describe her latest "in-universe" history. Im curious to know how many actual real-world years she spent as a White American, German Jew, Serbian Romani, Mutant, Witch, Avenger, etc. Thanks!
I’m choosing to do this as a chronicling of backstory retcons (plus a couple of important firsts) because it would be too much to do the whole thing, and I’m going to include the various changes to Magneto’s backstory because they’re kind of necessary. The dates listed are release date, not cover date.
March 1964 (X-Men vol. 1 #4) -- It’s Wanda, no last name. She’s a mutant, part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. She’s from Central Europe. She has an older brother named Pietro, and he promised their parents that he would take care of her.
March 1965 (Avengers vol. 1 #16) -- Wanda’s an Avenger now.
November 1966 (Thor vol. 1 #134) -- We learn that Wanda and Pietro, who are now twins, are connected to Wundagore Mountain and that there was a massive “blinding light” on the night they were born. This was maybe an aborted attempt to retcon them into not being mutants (their powers are referred to as “mutant-type” for some reason), but it goes nowhere.
May 1974 (Giant Size Avengers #1) -- Wanda and Pietro finally have a backstory. They are the children of US-American superheroes Madeline and Robert Frank (aka Miss America and The Whizzer). They were born on Wundagore Mountain, but their mother died and their father abandoned them. They were subsequently raised in the High Evolutionary’s citadel, but they ran away because it was weird being around all those talking animals.
June 1974 - February 1975 (Avengers vol. 1 #127-134; Giant Size Avengers #2 & 4) -- Agatha’s here, and she’s teaching Wanda magic. Wanda is now a mutant AND a witch.
December 1977 - September 1979 (Avengers vol. 1 #166 & 181-187; X-Men vol. 1 #125) -- Origin Story: The Good One. Wanda and Pietro are not the Franks’ kids and were not raised in the High Evolutionary’s citadel. They were raised by Django and Marya Maximoff, a Roma couple from Bulgaria (Transia, the town they’re from, will later become a country of its own), and it is implied that they don’t remember this because they suppressed their own memories. However, Django and Marya are not their birth parents. Their birth mother came to Wundagore Mountain, heavily pregnant, fleeing their father. She gave birth in the citadel, then left because she did not want to be alive anymore.
Meanwhile, Chris Claremont comes up with the idea for Magda, Magneto’s mysterious dead wife, but before the issue introducing her can even come out, John Byrne and some other guys go behind Claremont’s back and make Magda Wanda and Pietro’s mother. Which makes Magneto the husband their mother was running from and thus... None of the living characters know they are related, and it is editorial’s intention that they will never find out, though the connection is acknowledged openly in the letters column.
August 1981 (Uncanny X-Men vol. 1 #150) -- Claremont begins the long process of turning Magneto into a hero, and with that, we learn Magneto’s backstory as a Holocaust survivor. Claremont continues to add to this for the rest of his initial X-Men tenure (through 1991), but crucially, he never has him say that he’s Jewish. You’re supposed to understand that he is, and most of the audience does understand. It is very, very obvious (we even get a trip to Israel), BUT he does not say the exact words, “I am Jewish.”
November 1982 (Vision & the Scarlet Witch vol. 1 #4) -- The characters aren’t supposed to find out they’re related? Forget that. They all know now. I would argue that this issue also makes it obvious that Magneto is Jewish, but whatever, he doesn’t say, “I am Jewish.”
October 1985 (Vision & the Scarlet Witch vol. 2 #5) -- This is the earliest reference I can find to Magda being Romani. It feels like that can’t be the first time that was confirmed, but this post needs to get done some time.
October 1987 (New Mutants vol. 1 #61) -- Another “earliest reference I can find” scenario. I think this is the first time Magneto mentions being from Poland. At any rate, it is a time he mentions being from Poland, and it gets retconned anyway.
July 1993 (X-Men Unlimited vol. 1 #2) -- Due to editorial meddling, Magneto became a villain again in 1991, and according to comic book legend, editor-in-chief Bob Harras thought that Magneto being Jewish and a supervillain was proooooooblemaaaaaaatic. And if he can’t be both at the same time, one’s gotta go. Enter Gabrielle Haller, who is here to give a Ted Talk explaining Magneto’s new backstory. He’s Sinti Romani. That’s the change.
December 1997 (X-Men vol. 2 #72) -- It is revealed that the Erik Lensherr identity was an alias created by document forger Georg Odekirk in order to help Magneto hide from the authorities and find Magda... by pretending to be Sinti. Which, to me, implies that Magda herself was Sinti specifically, not Roma. Either way, Magneto says he’s not Romani, but once again does not say he’s Jewish.
September 2008 - January 2009 (X-Men: Magneto Testament #1-5) -- Magneto is officially, definitely Jewish. For real this time. No more ambiguity. He’s also German now, instead of Polish, and his name is Max Eisenhardt.
December 2014 (Avengers & X-Men: AXIS #7) -- Rick Remender, who is clearly invested in Wanda and Magneto’s relationship, is forced, possibly at gunpoint, to make them not related. This is revealed via a spell going wrong and not affecting Magneto when it’s supposed to affect Wanda’s family, which is the dictionary definition of “plausible deniability.”
January 2015 - June 2015 (Uncanny Avengers vol. 2 #1-5) -- Wanda and Pietro go to the High Evolutionary to figure out what their brand new backstory is. Turns out that, according to the High Evolutionary, they are not mutants and got their powers from being experimented on by him as babies. Their birth parents were their adoptive parents Django and Marya all along, which would make them Roma (not Sinti)... but something is weird about this reveal because Vision finds out there is more to the story and refuses to tell Wanda what it is or that he discovered any information at all.
March 2016 - January 2017 (Scarlet Witch vol. 2 #4-14) -- Nevermind, Django and Marya weren’t Wanda’s biological parents. Django is her uncle. His sister Natalya is her birth mother and a witch, and “the Scarlet Witch” is now a legacy title. Wanda was born in Serbia, but how that intersects with the Chthon thing is not explained. And Wanda’s dad is... the guy who murdered her mother. Who? Doesn’t say.
December 2017 - July 2019 -- A bonus! Marvel gives up on pretending Wanda and Magneto are not related... but mostly outside of comics. The official Marvel website runs articles just... saying they’re related. Official merchandise says they’re related. The mainline comics don’t touch it, but things are very suspicious.

I feel like this must be intentional. One of the big themes in IWATEX is how the Vertumna Compound holds itself up as a post-everything utopia but consistently recreates, or fails to resist, the same destructive forces they try to run from:
In the default Earth ending, they die in a raid by refugees. Unless the refugees are just killing people for no reason, this suggests a pretty vile level of doomsday prepper hoarding - not only not post-scarcity, but potentially engineering scarcity. If you commit to being on Earth even after seeing that - defying Vertumnan ideology that Earth is a lost cause and they need to build a Space Leftist Utopia - the ending changes and Vertumna does not hoard its resources, and Sol dies of old age with no mention of any raid. This is easily the most obscure ending, which is a shame because it's the most interesting.
I forget where - I think this was in Humanities class? - but Sol can think to themselves that Vertumna is a democracy, where everyone votes. Well, not everyone. You're a kid, you don't get a vote. Really, it's just the Council. Given that there clearly are other adults, who never get votes in the election, this paints a pretty bleak picture.
The Content Warnings outright describe numerous ideological problems, most strikingly that Vertumnan ideology is reminiscent of a cult.
Marzipan gaming the kudos system quickly devolves into capitalism. She only understands that capitalism caused Earth's downfall when she's 17, which is a little embarrassing for Marzipan but absolutely disgraceful for their education system. It's good at indoctrinating people but demonstrably bad at giving them any understanding of why.
Likewise, under Instance's influence, Tangent starts espousing very sinister eugenicist ideas. I never saw confirmation that this was from Instance, but given that Tangent has very little human contact besides you and Instance, and it's not you, it suggests that one of the founding members of the Stratos had at least implicitly eugenicist beliefs. Tangent's good ending - gained only with the intervention of several characters, especially Sol - has her deciding to contribute her genetic material and researching mental health treatments (which do not otherwise exist! Besk was the sole psychotherapist, despite needing one of her own, and only Tangent can replace her). The eugenics stuff is not casual, it's a large part of her character arc.
Indeed, if you don't have any genetic enhancements, you get a buff to kudos gained, since the adults are more impressed that you can accomplish anything. There's no such buff for doing jobs your genetic enhancement is not suited for, suggesting a condescending attitude based entirely on your genes.
Dys is straight-up neglected. Only Utopia really looks after him. I interpret this one as a diffusion of responsibility - "well, parenting is communal, so someone else can take care of him." All's well that ends well, if by ending well you mean potentially ending in a fireball that extinguishes all human life on the planet.
Good old wholesome Tammy and Cal are explicitly praised by the fascist at-least-wannabe-dictator Lum for having babies. They're not Helios. They just fit right into Helio (fascist) ideas about marriage and the family. Doesn't make those two evil, but it can certainly colour how you look at Tammy's Embracing Motherhood. There's a clear dark side there.
"Colonist" is right in the name, and has largely the same meaning here as it does today. The Content Warnings confirm this is intentional. Tangent, in her rooftop conversation, raises this issue, worrying that they're just recreating the worst of Earth colonialism.
Sadgirl Supervillains Beside, the Stratos know to recycle but seem to have no concept of reusing. Even Utopia, who has far and away the most sensible environmental policy, oversees clear-cutting and will chide you for opposing it.
The Stratos not only have a military, but one that takes no persuading at all to recruit child soldiers.
Only Marzipan, Utopia, (potentially) Sol and (in the worst possible ending) Cal will actively oppose Lum of their own accord. And three of those are kids. The Council - the only people who get any votes! - won't do a damn thing unless you twist their arm. Seeq sort of resists...but points taken away for asking you for kudos to vote against Lum, effectively attempting to bribe themselves. Antecedent won't vote against Lum unless she knows which way the wind is blowing. The sole Strato government is utterly ineffectual in the face of fascism, and can wipe out the Gardeners or all the aliens primarily because Lum wanted to and nobody knew how to resist.
So it comes as no surprise that Gender is a bit fucky on Vertumna. Perhaps the ugliest example is Antecedent encouraging an abusive relationship because it forces her daughter into a more feminine role. If you look closely, you can see some very traumatic misogyny with Tangent. She hates her body for being insufficiently feminine - something totally normal in an egalitarian post-gender utopia with no coercive gender roles whatsoever!!!
With all these numerous problems, most of which are explored in considerable depth, it's fair to say that people who take the game as genuinely presenting an egalitarian world have simply missed the actual text. They got suckered by the Strato adults and mistook in-universe propaganda for canon. I'm sorry Sol but your Humanities classes lied.
I love IWATEX in part because it deconstructs all these ideas of "what if we had a Post-Everything Leftist Space Utopia where everything was just Good and we could start with a Blank Slate and simply forget about all that embarrassing racism and misogyny and rubbish?"
And the answer is, they'd quickly reinvent the same evils, because this society thinks it's immune to the influences of their culture, but is inescapably made of of people who come from those cultures and carry them into space.
the strato colony is a post-family, post-class society where housing and food are guaranteed to all and child-rearing, child-bearing, and genetic parentage are completely separated, but the actual work of raising kids still falls entirely on women and girls (and possibly sol)

Master List
“DEAREST BIG BROTHER! I’M HOME!” A female shout came from the foyer of the manor.
Dick, Jason, Tim, Babs, Steph, and Cass were hanging out in one of the many rooms the manor held. Alfred had just walked in with a tray of drinks but froze at the sound of the voice.
“THE HECK!” Was shouted by the same voice followed by Damian’s voice shouting,
“WHO ARE YOU!?!?! HOW DID YOU GET IN!?!?!”
Alfred was out of the room in an instant. He was not sprinting but he might as well be with how fast he was walking. The batkids immediately followed after him.
They walked in on a sight none of them will ever forget. Literally, Jason had taken a picture. A strange woman who looked like a female, miniature version of Bruce had Damian’s precious katana and seemed to be taunting him with it.
“Miss Marinette!” Alfred called and got both the woman’s and Damian’s attention.
“Alfred!” The woman replied, running over and giving him a hug, katana still in her hand.
“Wait, Aunt Nettie?” Dick spoke up, walking over to the pair.
“Little Wing! Wow, you got so much bigger since the last time I saw you.” She responded, giving him a hug.
“Wait, wait, your Aunt Nettie?” Jason asked, crossing his arms.
“Aww, Little Blue Jay, you don’t remember me?” She shot back, crossing her arms as well.
“Blue Jay, why is that familiar?” Jason muttered to himself, not quietly enough since everyone heard him.
“Aunt Nettie, you only visited once when he was here.” Dick reminded her.
“Oh, well that will explain that. Also how many more kids did Bruce adopt? I thought it was only the 2 of you, the Drake kid, and his bio kid.” She questioned, motioning to each child she remembered.
“The only other kid he adopted is Cass, Steph and Babs are family friends.” Dick clarified.
“Babs, the first Batgirl correct?” She asked, turning to the girl in question. Everyone froze at that, this girl who was apparently Bruce’s sister knew who they were.
“It’s fine guys, she’s known since the beginning of his time as Batman.” Dick assured.
“Yep, speaking of my big brother, where is he?”
“Master Bruce is currently at a WE meeting, but he will be back in time for dinner.” Alfred answered for her.
“How come father never told us about you?” Damian voiced, glaring at her and looking like he wanted to attack her again. Probably because she still had his katana.
“I rarely visit nowadays and he’s probably still upset after last time.” Marinette smirked, like she had won some sort of battle. Noticing she still had his katana, she handed the blade back to Damian.
“Last time?” Tim hesitantly echoed.
“How about Miss Marinette shares the story in the living room? I can bring snacks.” Alfred offered, Marinette looked like she was about to say something but Alfred beat her to it, “You bond with your nieces and nephews, I will be fine.”
“Come on Marinette! You can tell them about how you helped train Bruce! Oh did you bring any kwamis with you?” Dick rambled, pulling Marinette with him into the room they were hanging out in before her appearance.
Once they were all seated Tim started the conversation, “So I’m not hallucinating, you are actually Bruce’s sister.”
“Yes, Bruce is 3 years older than me. I know that he is Batman and you guys are the bats and the birds.” She calmly responded.
“What did Dick mean by you helped train Bruce? And what is a Kwami?” Babs continued.
“Kwami are basically magical beings, kinda like gods, that are bound to jewels called miraculous. Since I’m the guardian I protect these jewels. I trained Bruce by helping my old mentor from Tibet train him.” Marinette explained.
“What happened last time? And why don’t you visit often?” Damian asked, carefully hidden curiosity in his eyes.
“Back in my first year of highschool, Bruce was very protective of me. Like very protective. No boy he didn’t approve of, which meant I could never talk to a single boy, could get within 10 feet of me without him present. Asking me out, out of the question. Pretty sure this one guy, Adam, wanted to ask me out but Bruce interrupted before he could. I never talked to him again after that. I got pretty tired of it so I signed up for the foreign exchange program and went to school in Paris.”
“Wait,” Steph interrupted, “Bruce was an overprotective brother?”
“One of the worst kinds. I’m sure if our parents were still alive he might’ve been worse than my dad.”
“What importance does this have to the questions?” Damian sneered, annoyed that he wasn’t getting any answers.
“Hold on I’m getting there. So anyways it was in my sophomore year of highschool at Paris that a supervillain attacked. He called himself Hawkmoth, he used the butterfly miraculous to transform people into his puppets by using their emotions against them. I didn’t think much of it since it didn’t concern me, my host family agreed thinking it wouldn’t last long. But when I got to my room there was a little box sitting on my desk and that’s where I found the ladybug miraculous. The most powerful miraculous besides the cat miraculous. I told Bruce, he wasn’t too happy about it, but there wasn’t much he could do. So much happened in that amount of time that I don’t think I could summarize it all before Bruce gets back but just know that in that span of time I met the current guardian. Hawkmoth gained an ally who used the peacock miraculous, Mayura. Also a miraculous that could manipulate emotions.
After I and my partner had defeated Hawkmoth and Mayura, sometime during my senior year, we revealed our identities, dated for a few months before I ended things. Then I went back home and Bruce was getting ready to go on his soul-searching journey to be trained by masters or whatever and I suggested he be trained by my mentor who was in Tibet. I went with him, we trained for a couple of months before he left. I decided to stay in Tibet to train to become the next guardian. Eventually my mentor died and gave me guardianship.
Then I returned to Gotham and Bruce had adopted Little Wing over there. So I stayed here for a while before I decided to go around the world doing guardian things. Bruce didn’t like the idea but there wasn’t much he could do. I ended up catching up with an old friend of mine on one of my travels and we started dating before I came back here. That’s when I met Little Blue Jay for the first and last time.
Before you guys had gone on patrol I tried to ask Bruce to give my boyfriend a chance but he didn’t agree. I’ve always been his little sister in his eyes, I think he couldn’t handle the fact I had grown up. Nasty words were exchanged between us and I haven’t returned since. In the end me and him didn’t work out but I couldn’t bring myself to return, until now at least.”
“Why now?” Damian immediately pressed once she finished her explanation.
“Dusuu was missing Alfred. It has been like a decade or something.” She remarked, pulling out a peacock shaped brooch.
“Didn’t you say that the peacock miraculous was evil?” Cass signed, raising an eyebrow at the brooch.
“No, I said it was used for evil. The miraculous are technically neutral, can be used for good or evil. Depends on who is wielding them.” Marinette bit back, as a flash of light emitted from the brooch. Suddenly a small floating peacock creature stood in front of Marinette.
“Is that a kwami?” Steph asked.
“Yes, this is Dusuu, the peacock kwami of emotions.”
“Hello! It’s so nice to meet you!” Dusuu chirped, “Where’s Alfred?”
“I am right here Dusuu. It is lovely to see you again.” Alfred spoke from the doorway, holding a tray of snacks and drinks.
“Alfred!” Dusuu cheered before flying over and hugging the older man.
“In all honesty Bruce doesn’t sound like the best brother.” Jason pointed out.
“I know it may seem like he’s a shitty brother, and at the time I totally thought he was and still is, but I know where he’s coming from. Bruce was always the more reserved and protective out of the 2 of us even before what happened to our parents. I think our parents' death solidified his need to protect me from anything and anyone. And we all know how horrible Bruce is at showing his emotions so I know his heart was in the right place. Plus, we’ve had years to cool off, I’m sure we can have a mature conversation now.” Marinette explained, a fond smile gracing her lips.
Faintly in the distance they heard Alfred say, “Welcome home, Master Bruce.”
“That’s my cue!” Marinette said before bolting off in the direction of the foyer.
“Alfred something’s off, what are you not telling me?” The second those words left his mouth a weight connected with his back, arms wrapped around his neck and a familiar,
“HEY BIG BRO!” Was registered by his ears.
The weight slipped off his back and as he turned around he was met with the familiar sight of his little sister. “Marinette.”
“Bruce.”
“You’re here.”
“I am.”
“I thought-”
“That I was mad at you.”
“You didn’t visit for 10 years.”
“Life got busy.”
They stood in silence for a minute.
“I missed you.” Marinette whispered, so much different from the girl that was telling them a brief summary of her life. She seemed so much more vulnerable uttering those words than when she had revealed why she hadn’t come back in the first place.
Turns out that was the straw that broke the camel’s back as Bruce wrapped Marinette in a hug as tears slipped from his eyes. They could hear him whispering over and over again, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for what I did all those years ago.”
It was weird for them all to see, including Dick who knew how much Marinette meant to Bruce. Bruce kept his emotions so closed up, master of the stoic face, but here he was breaking down in front of the all. Here he was crying and apologizing.
“I believe we should leave them alone for now.” Alfred spoke up heading for the dining room. They followed. Later Bruce and Marinette would join them, a little red-eyed with their cheeks tear-stained, but small smiles on their faces.
It was then that all the batkids knew that they would be seeing this ‘Aunt Nettie’ much more often.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look at that, I’m super late again! Nothing new, I think day 14 was a one time thing unfortunately.
I’ve seen a ton of fics where Marinette was Bruce’s older sister but what about where she’s his younger sister? Bruce would so be an overprotective older brother.
I hoped you enjoyed this! I’m planning on making a part 2 of this for ‘contest’. So stay tuned!
