ny teacher hit me with a "真的假的" when i told her that there are a bunch of bats (🦇) on my street and they almost ran me and that was a surreal experience. My first "真的假的"... i swore that was a phrase the mandarin language youtubers made up to punk me but no its real. its like saying "for real?" or "no way" in english. literally "is that real or fake?"
#my teacher. i felt like was giving me the pity lonely kid conversation treatment for most of our trip to the zoo and i felt so weird abt it#but then i realized she talked to most of us like that but i still. yea im still a lonely 5th grader in a lot of ways#but i went out to eat with my classmates for lunch so that was nice!!!#and i got their instagrams. luckyyyy#also ny teacher... seems v similar to me... she was talking abt hiw she was gonna study abroad in college. she wanted to but money and all#but also she felt a relief bc she wanted to go to korea and she felt so much pressure by their beauty standards that she was like. ok..#silver lining. and i was like... no legit thats part of why i decided not to go to Japan and bam. 4 japanese roommates that conform to#beauty standards so heavily. it feels like a chore#🐌.txt

Fascinating 1980 home in Pittsford, NY looks nice from outside, but it has some fascinating features inside. 4bds, 3ba, $575K.
This is very nice, an indoor garden on a raised platform.
I don't think that I would decorate it this formally- it's a light and airy home.
This furniture is too heavy for it. I think that lighter decor, maybe some wicker and more plants, would make it look much nicer. Bright colors, too. Then, you wouldn't have to do much updating.
Next to the kitchen there's a large fireplace wall with a conversation pit. I've never seen a narrow rectangular pit, but it has nice built-in seating. Then, behind it is a path to the kitchen and what is probably supposed to be a wet bar that they have as book shelving.
On the other side, they have a family room with sliders to the deck.
The eat-in kitchen is nice. The cabinetry isn't bad.
A simple 1/2 bath.
The round bed in the primary bedroom has what appears to be a round mirrored coffee table attached to the ceiling. Sliders to a large deck, bright red carpeting, a wall of frilly draperies and a mirrored wall complete the look.
The bath has that stupid carpeting, but I do like the gray tub and sinks.
There's also a beautiful new shower.
And, a cedar closet. If Moth Man ever showed up, this would be like a safe room.
I've never seen a narrow landing with a door right in front of the stairs.
The 2nd bd. is a good size.
The 3rd bd. is a bit smaller, but it could be cute.
Bd. #4 is larger.
The baths are pretty large. This house needs decor.
The deck is huge, but it's drying out- needs some treatment before it deteriorates.
0.68 Acre lot

Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition Osaka Venue x CAFE Lab.
A collaboration between "Yoshihiro Togashi Exhibition -PUZZLE-" with "CAFE Lab." has been announced. A total of 9 dishes and drinks from Togashi's 3 works, "Yu Yu Hakusho", "Level E" and "HUNTER x HUNTER", will be served at the cafe adjacent to the exhibition hall. Customers who order from the collaboration menu will also receive an original coaster at random for each item ordered.
I thought they would keep the same menu from the Tokyo Venue "Pieces Cafe", but it is a brand new one. Let's check the Yu Yu Hakusho food (dish, dessert and drink):
Kurama VS Karasu Beautiful Pasta (comes with "treatment" oil)
Price: 1,650 yen
A pasta that will allow you to enjoy two flavors in one dish. Kurama's side is made of beet cream, and Karasu's side is squid ink (ikasumi). You can also drizzle olive oil to complete the dish.
This dish is inspired by Karasu's line to Kurama, when he asked him if he was treating his hair. It comes with a card of that scene. The optional "treatment" oil is also a joke, it's actually olive oil :P
Yusuke and Keiko's "And So..." Cheesecake
Price: 1,650 yen including tax
Inspired by Yu Yu Hakusho's last chapter, Act 175. "And So…" (Sore kara…), the final scene on the beach was made into a dessert. The orange sauce is like the beach at sunset, with two kinds of cheesecake (Matcha Basque & NY Style), and ice cream of Keiko's "favorite color".
If you guys remember the last chapter of the manga, Yusuke pressed the blue button, because it was Keiko's favorite color.
Hiei and Yukina's Hiruseki Stone Bond Lychee Soda
Price: 1,100 yen (1,080 yen take-out)
A lychee-flavored soda inspired by the siblings, Hiei and Yukina, who were born in the Glacier Country. The icon is a shiratama dango that resembles the ice tears (hiruseki), and lemon-flavored jelly is added for an icy and refreshing finish.
I love the card that comes with the drink. It's the scene when Hiei saved Yukina at the end of the Dark Tournament. In the back, Kuwabara is pissed XD.
Original Coaster
Customers who order from the collaboration menu will also receive one of the 3 original coasters at random for each item ordered.

Seldom a Day Goes By
Leilani California, United States
My name is Leilani Frietas. I'm 73 years old.
In 1966 I had an illegal abortion in Brooklyn, NY. I had just graduated from college and had obtained a great job. My boyfriend had a full scholarship to Yale graduate school. When I realized I was pregnant, I told him, and we told our parents. My mother was devastated. My father said to go to Puerto Rico for an abortion. My boyfriend's mother called me and said, "I've had several abortions, and it's just like having your tonsils out." She said that my boyfriend would have to quit graduate school to support me and the baby, and it would ruin his career. My boyfriend and I hadn't made a decision yet and one time when he left for the weekend I broke into his file cabinets with the intent to kill myself after two nights of not sleeping but was unable to pull the trigger. I went to the emergency room and turned it in.
One Friday afternoon my father called and said, "Tomorrow you are going with your mother to get seen by a doctor to see how far along you are.” My boyfriend told me that our parents had been talking. He said that doctor was his mother's. I went home and couldn't sleep all night.
The next morning we went to the doctor's office. He examined me and said I was 12 weeks, not 10, and it would be an extra $200. I said, "I'm here to see how far along I am, not to have an abortion." He said to my mother, “It will be $1200 now." Looking at me he said, "You have 10 minutes to decide." I tried calling my boyfriend, but he was at the clinic getting medicine to calm his nerves. I called my counselor and he said I should have it because there were no options. No one was offering help.
After the abortion I could not stop crying. While weeping my mother said, "Why are you weeping?" I told her, "Because I'm afraid I'll never be able to have children." She said, "That's not true, I had you after having one at 18." I asked her, "How far along?" She said, “Six months." I wept even more, angry at her former silence and sickened over my brother or sister having been killed.
After the abortion I spent almost one year in three mental hospitals, had shock treatments, and lost my good job and many friends who thought something was wrong with me.
My boyfriend spent nine months in a hospital too and dropped out of school, finishing a few years later.
I hitchhiked to California and a year later got pregnant again. My mother flew out and tried to get me to have an abortion. I said, “No.” My beautiful daughter was born. I ended up getting married and now have four other children.
It took me almost 20 years to grieve over my abortion. I became a Catholic and went to confession. Later, I went to Rachel's Vineyard. Even though I feel forgiven and feel blessed by my children, seldom does a day go by when I don't relive and regret my abortion.

okay i am back in the us! my sisters wedding was v beautiful and i had overall a good time. im v glad to be home tho cuz 10 days away with so much going on was exhauuussting.
we also got some neutral/good news about my moms treatment today! she had a CT scan yesterday and today the dr told us the spots in her liver have not grown + her tumor has shrunk a little bit. it didnt shrink enough to be Awesome news but it is stable, which means treatment is still working. (this was also a CT scan after 3 weeks w/o her being on treatment since we were out of town so we're hopeful that a CT scan while shes actively in treatment would show even more shrinkage!)
i go up to NY tomorrow to spend 2 weeks with my boyfriend. we'll be moving apartments, and i'll also be working on draft3 of my second novel bc i got my edit letter earlier this week. so it'll be a little bit stressful but still v fun especially cuz its been a while since ian and i were together for longer than a few days. long-distance is hard!! :'/ but we're making it work :)

{ LEE HOJUNG, 19, CISGENDER FEMALE, SHE/HER } Is that JIWON MORRISON? A SOPHOMORE originally from MANHATTAN, NY, she decided to come to Ogden College to study STUDIO ART. She's THE ICE QUEEN on campus, but even she could get blamed for Greer’s disappearance.
BASICS
↳ Character inspiration: Khun Sam (GAP - The Series), Sister Lilith (Warrior Nun), Kang Soojin (True Beauty - K-Drama), Beth Harmon (Queen’s Gambit), Spencer Hastings (Pretty Little Liars), Camilla Macaulay (Secret History), Filippa Kosta (If We Were Villains), Jung Erae (The Love Doctor)
↳ Extracurricular activities: Tenis single player, Writing Club, Debate Club, Chess Club, Boxing Club, Feminists at Ogden, violinist in the Orchestra
↳ Three Positive Traits: Focused, detail-oriented, analytical
↳ Three Negative Traits: Conceited, emotionally unintelligent, perfectionist
↳ Three Skills: Artistically talented, good at faking emotions, photographic memory
↳ Gender: Cisgender female
↳ Sexuality: Lesbian
↳ Date/Place of Birth: April 11th, 2003 (10PM), Busan (South Korean)
↳ Zodiac: Aries Sun, Leo Moon, Sagittarius Ascendant, Taurus Mercury, Pisces Venus, Capricorn Mars, Leo Jupiter, Gemini Saturn, Pisces Uranus, Aquarius Neptune, Sagittarius Pluto
↳ Nationality: American and South Korean dual citizenship
↳ Ethnicity: Korean
HISTORY
↳ Childhood/Family Life: Born Kang Jiwon, the girl was adopted from Korea when she was only two years old and soon became Jiwon Morrison. She has been very quiet and reserved since the beginning, though it did get worse as time passed by. Thrown into a life of riches and coldness, Jiwon would soon get crushed under the weight before even getting to school. Her parents would go on to adopt another child a couple years later, who would then become Jiwon's little brother.
For the Morrisons, education and excellence had always been important, and that was a system in which Jiwon thrived. Having been a straight-A student and valedictorian at the prep school where she studied, all the girl ever cared about was her academic achievements. She was widely known as the artistic prodigy at her school (though she was also part of the Math club and occasionally competed in boxing).
Of course, the Morrison parents didn't only care about her education though, knowing all too well that being charismatic and well-connected was as important, if not more, than being a genius. And for that, Jiwon's parents never let her forget that her cousin, Greer, was a lot more in line with what she should be. She was basically forced into becoming a tennis player specifically so she would have something in common with her cousin. She was pushed into going to parties, making friends with people she hated, and playing nice with every single person who was important enough to warrant that treatment, though the girl's social unawareness would always end up causing her niceties to backfire. Jiwon was someone to be feared, not loved.
Because of that (and also her social status), Jiwon has had her fair share of betrayals in her life, or worse, has been treated as a prize to be conquered. There have been a good amount of bets made solely on the possibility that she might be nice for a change. Being ostracized and bullied by her family for not being the perfect princess she was supposed to be and having no one else she could trust solidified in her a stone-cold, distrusting personality, but one she's not afraid of.
↳ Life in Ogden: Throughout her entire first year of college, Jiwon's parents wouldn't leave her alone. She would get visits almost every week, though it was weird that they felt the need to keep checking on her, since she would never go to parties or socialize at all. Maybe that was the reason altogether. Once her parents started to ease up on her, Jiwon managed to start enjoying her time by herself a little more, though she was back to focusing every cent of her energy on studying, practicing, or creating her art pieces. Little is known of her throughout campus, as she would have made almost no mark anywhere if she wasn't Greer Morrison's less-than-friendly cousin.
Being an ice queen fits her nicely, at least externally. She deeply dislikes talking to other people. Internally, though, the girl is slowly breaking down from exhaustion, a battle she refuses to ever tell anyone. And it also fits perfectly that even in college, she still exists as a comparison to Greer, her own aloofness and distance being compared to that of the charismatic girl.
PERSONALITY
↳ General Personality: Known mainly for her icy appearance and distance from everyone around her, Jiwon is actually just aloof, though coupled with her egomaniac tendencies and sense of superiority ends up creating an image that is utterly unapproachable. She considers social abilities to be beneath her, and doesn't see the point of ever trying.
↳ Dreams and Ambitions: Jiwon's utmost dream is to make her mark on the artistic world. Everything else comes second. A talented sculptor and painter, she wants to, one day, be able to have huge exhibitions at the most prestigious museums.
RELATIONSHIP TO GREER: GREER'S COUSIN
Jiwon’s relationship with Greer had always felt... Forced. Greer disliked Jiwon’s cold demeanor and, in their familial competitions, frequently reminded her that she would always be alone. Jiwon disliked being compared to the little social butterfly, which frequently overshadowed her own academic achievements in the eyes of their family. Most of the time this dynamic was merely passive-aggressive, as they had to keep up appearances, so it would be contained to words said in passing to one another, or small rumors being spread. Sometimes it went almost too far, but it was inconsequential enough.
As they grew older, it only got worse. Relegated to second place, there was an anger brewing inside Jiwon, just below the surface. She started to realize there was no grade high enough, no amount of extracurricular activities, that could make her parents be as proud of her as they were of Greer.
TROPE: THE ICE QUEEN
You should smile more. Your pretty face isn’t gonna take you anywhere if you’re not friendly. Being that smart is not going to be any good if you can’t make friends. She heard it all. Although both Greer and Jiwon had always commanded respect whenever they went, the former had always had the privilege of also being likable, while the latter spent her entire life being feared by her peers. Even if someone was inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt enough to call her shy, her academic prowess would make them hate her enough to call her arrogant.
So she embodied it. Maybe she wasn’t conceited before, but after middle school, she definitely was. If they were gonna exclude her anyway, might as well give them reason. Jiwon convinced herself that her brains and artistic talents were superior to emotional intelligence, and used that to justify freezing everybody else out, appearing unemotional to the world.
It’s all a front, of course. Her busy schedule frequently gives her panic attacks and her unrelenting perfectionist nature makes it difficult to even breathe. Her very few “friends” are kept at arm’s length, and no one knows about the turmoil inside of her. To everyone else, she is just... Stoic.

Sadillac-sexcalade submitted this very colorful $1.6M home in Menands, New York. It was built in 1892, so it’s been remodeled, has 5bds. 8ba. and plenty of color- no white stuff, here.
Check out the entrance hall. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a house with a tile & wood combination floor.
The main sitting room has a little Beetlejuice vibe going on. I wish the beautiful fireplace was on a more centered wall. There’s no chair facing it so you can enjoy the fire.
This looks like a family room off the kitchen.
Have you ever seen a fancier breakfast room? Look at the window treatments.
This would be the less formal dining area for everyday, right off the kitchen.
And, this is the larger formal dining room. Check out that ceiling.
The kitchen is pretty big and has a “runway” along the side to get to the various dining areas.
This is some powder room- look at the pattern in the sink.
To get upstairs to the bds., you go thru this doorway in the formal dining room to the stairs.
And, check out these stairs! Have you ever seen anything like this? Look at how long the mezzanine is and it has double lanes.
The bds. are so huge, I don’t even know which one is the main. I guess the buyer has a choice.
It’s not surprising that the baths are huge.
This one has a big shower.
Matching en-suite.
3 more bds. and a little girl’s room complete with a carousel. (Rich kid stuff.)
If you’re not feeling the big stairs, there’s this smaller one you could use.
Library/office. It’s not a proper library if it doesn’t have a ladder.
This looks like some kind of file room and it has its own bath, too. These people tend toward dark dreary colors. Maybe they think it’s more sophisticated, but sometimes it’s not - depends on how it’s done.
This home is on over 9 acres, so there’s lots of land.
There’s a patio, but no pool.
Beautiful trees, though.
The new buyer would have plenty room for a pool, tennis court, or whatever.

Telly and Casper
Finally got around to actually watching all of Kids. The Larry Clark/Harmony Korine thing. I was watching some video reactions on tumblr to it, and the one I watched they were talking about how weird it was the way Chloe's character responded to testing HIV positive. Just because of how far medicine, stigma, and treatment to it has changed in the last 25 years. But that's such an underlying part of the movie is the fact that Telly is stalking around NY like a killer targeting little girls with this virus that at the time was considered a death sentence. To watch the movie without understanding that context--it really must make the movie seem really just random. Like that last scene between Casper and Jennie is totally changed by knowing that she's HIV positive. But I also think all of that stuff--that is basically what the KIDS movie is--is kind of not what the KIDS movie actually is. I think time has been really kind to it. Because it captures really purely this time in between being a kid and being an adult--or even an older teen. It wasn't the kind of life I lived as a kid in that time, but I was aware of being adjacent to a world like that where kids were doing that kind of stupid shit all the time. And I've seen kids act that kind of way. But it's really hard to capture the unique way kids acted that kind of way in that particular time in those particular spaces.
I'm also reading Basketball Diaries right now, which is basically the same kind of thing, but actually real. I'm really interested in the way that Casper and Telly--you can't take your eyes off of them. Even though they're horrific and have really base philosophies behind what they are doing--there's an aesthetic appeal to it. Like in Basketball Diaries, when they are beating teams on the court and then robbing them. I don't need to be told as a adult that these things are wrong. But within the distance of art--which is to say how they are presented, the chaos is really beautiful.
Which is fucked up with Basketball Diaries, because that's a memoir. I guess what really attracts me about it is less what they're doing, and that I can feel what they're doing as an expression of something that they lack the ability to articulate otherwise. There's an underlying pain. I think Ebert nailed this in his review of kids when he was talking about Telly "What you realize, thinking about Telly, is that life has given him nothing that interests him, except for sex, drugs and skateboards. His life is a kind of hell, briefly interrupted by orgasms." I think that is touching on what hit me with KIDS. Not the HIV-Monster movie slasher fic read of it. And I'm not even saying it like I feel sorry for Telly. Because I don't. But I'm saying we live in that kind of world. We all do. We're chasing our desires in a swirl of pain and beauty. And there's death all around us. And we can feel that all around us, on micro and macro levels--but we can't articulate whatever it is that's behind all of it--that engine back behind desire chasing us until we are crazy, exhausted, and ready to die somewhere at sometime. And I'm not even saying as a horrific thing. I feel numb about it at worst. But mostly it's kind of a pretty and desperate thing.
