A grain of sand
For look! Within my hollow hand, While round the earth careens, I hold a single grain of sand And wonder what it means. Ah! If I had the eyes to see, And brain to understand, I think Life's mystery might be Solved in this grain of sand. Robert W Service
This poem may help to make a visit to the largest sand pile that Europe has to offer meaningful. But how do you make it fun? We’ll tell you! Drive out to the French Atlantic Coast, about an hour from Bordeaux and you’ll find the Dune of Pilat. But don’t expect to be on your own on this giant: With over a million visitors per year, the dune along with it’s facilities, shops, and restaurants is not exactly a lonely place. However, if you are willing to walk a bit on the dune, you will quickly get away from the masses. There’s enough sand for everyone.
So here is what you do: Switch on the live photo/motion stills function or make videos. Take a selfie running across the dune (perhaps with some back light). Make a spray of sand with your feet. Run down the steep parts of the dune in huge strides. Pitch yourself on to the heap! Jump around and make a complete fool of yourself.
(If you are in for a bit of a workout: try running uphill. That’ll get the blood pumping!)
Treat the inner kid that always desired a bigger pile of sand, to the biggest one imaginable! Just make sure to bring a snack. You’ll build up an appetite after all the excitement. Afterwards, you can cool down in the sea...

La dune du Pilat
The Dune of the Pilat
The Pilat dune is a dune located on the edge of the forest massif of the Landes de Biscay, on the Silver Coast at the entrance to the Arcachon basin, in the New Aquitaine region. It is the highest dune in Europe. Its altitude is 102 meters.
En face de la dune du Pilat il y a une petite étendue de sable qui s'appelle : Banc D'arguin. Vous pouvez y aller en bateau. In front of the Pilat dune there is a small stretch of sand called: Banc D'arguin. You can go by boat.
Un lieu protégé pour les oiseaux. A protected place for birds.
In addition to being beautiful and wild, the Banc d'Arguin is also a protected rest area for many migratory birds. If you go there in the spring and summer, you can see the Tern Caugek, small seagulls with black heads or the oyster-pie.

"We must buy more" firefighting planes, says Macron
“We must buy more” firefighting planes, says Macron
Emmanuel Macron promised this Wednesday the purchase of additional planes to fight the fires, during a trip to Gironde where he paid tribute to the firefighters who are finally slowing down the two gigantic fires that have been raging for more than one week. “Thank you, thank you very much!” In La Teste-de-Buch, on the edge of the Arcachon basin, where he arrived in the afternoon, the president…

Best Places to Visit in France
We all know that France is the world's most visited country. As a result, choosing which part of the nation to visit first is a little more difficult. France has a maritime climate in the north and a sluggish, hazy Mediterranean environment in the south, owing to its diversity. Some of the Spanish delicacies may be found in its southern cuisine. Furthermore, certain parts of Strasbourg have a German flavor to them rather than a French one.
Here is a list of 5 of France's most beautiful and renowned tourist destinations. Continue reading to find the hidden gems!
Arcachon Bay
Arcachon Bay is located on France's western coast. This location is within an hour's drive from the vibrant metropolis of Bordeaux. It is known as 'Le Bassin,' meaning the Basin, and is located on the edge of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. The inhabitants have given it this name. The towns and villages here have their own microclimate and are shielded from the worst of the Atlantic storms. Most people are familiar with Arcachon Bay because of the Dune du Pilat, Europe's highest sand dune. It stands at a height of approximately 110 meters above sea level! Andernos-les-Bains, located on the basin's inner border, is a charming town that is well worth a visit.
Mont-Saint Michel
Mont-Saint Michel is one of the most magnificent sights in the country, and it is perhaps one of the most memorable pictures of the country. It is only a bit out to sea, with its medieval monastery perched on top, and its placement is completely fairytale-like. More than three million individuals visit this island community each year. The approach is one of the town's top vantage spots. Take advantage of the longest visiting window and visit this location while the tides are in your favor.
Pink Granite Coast
The Pink Granite Coast, or Côte de Granit Rose as it is known locally, is located in northern Brittany and runs for more than 30 kilometers. The Ploumanac'h village is a good place to start your journey. Although it is not a particularly attractive settlement, it is the greatest place from which to explore the rose-tinted shoreline. This part of France is one of the most magical and surprising places you'll ever visit. The purest water you'll ever see, a moderate coastal environment awash in the brilliant colors of pink rocks, and a stunning mix of golden sand and wildflowers are all available here.
The Lavender Fields of Provence
From June through August, rows, and rows of lavender plants may be seen carpeting the rolling hills of Provence. These rows go on for as long as the eye can see. You'll notice a faint yet delicious aroma before you ever see them. This magnificent area is more likely to be noticed around Mont Ventoux and the Luberon Natural Park, so if you're visiting Provence, make sure you're based between these two spots.
Palace of Versailles
The Château de Versailles and the Versailles Gardens are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and must-sees in France. I guarantee you that the 18th-century gilded palace of Louis XIV will not disappoint you; in fact, it is only once you enter and are within its gates that you begin to understand its magnitude. The Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette's private apartment, and the Grand Trianon, a lower size palace, are both noteworthy.

Through thick and thin Whether you've been here or not, you'll probably recognize the famous Dune of Pilat on the homepage today. Officially known as Dune du Pilat, it is situated in La Teste-de-Buch in the Arcachon Bay area, France. At 106 metres in height, 2.7 kilometres long, and 60 million cubic metres in volume, this dune is the tallest sand dune in Europe. Belonging to the coastal dunes of Aquitaine, the Dune du Pilat to this day is the only one of its kind still in motion. Each year, it moves between one and five metres eastward, driven by winds and tides, gradually covering the adjoining maritime pine forest.

Against all odds Whether you've been there or not, you will no doubt recognize the famous Dune of Pilat, stretching all the way across our image today. Located in the Gironde, at the entrance to the Arcachon basin, near the town of La Teste de Buche, the one known as the white lady has almost perfect measurements. At 106 meters high, 2.7 kilometers long, and 60 million cubic meters of sand, the Dune of Pilat is the highest dune in Europe. Belonging to the coastal dunes of Aquitaine, the Dune of Pilat is to date the only one of this system still in motion; each year, it moves 1 to 5 meters east, driven by winds and tides, gradually covering the adjoining maritime pine forest.

A moving mountain of sand Stretching out in the sun across our homepage today is Europe’s tallest sand dune, the Dune of Pilat. Here in the Arcachon Bay area of south-west France, this mountain of sand stands about 348ft (106m) above sea level and runs for about 1.7 miles in length. Each year, it moves 3ft to 16ft (1 to 5 metres) eastward, driven by Atlantic winds and tides, gradually burying the trees in the adjoining maritime pine forest below. More than just a pile of sand, this exceptional natural monument is the most-visited site in France’s Aquitaine region and is particularly beautiful at sunset, when the light lends a magical quality to this incredible landscape.

A Peek into Lope's Gorilla Bachelor Pad by SloggerVlogger Gorilla Lope is busy again watching the tortoises. Trying to look over the visitor's heads. Music from the October fiesta outside. Another look from his hammock, a quick flash of his canines and a quick chest twitch. His chest has really developed now. He's going to be a fine silverback. If you are missing videos of his family. I will be showing them again as soon as Lope has to leave, including some GoBro ( gorilla brothers) footage that I keep rescheduling from just before he moved to the bachelor pad. As you can understand I want to concentrate on Lope as long as he's still at Twycross. I have been filming the family in between when Lope has gone to sleep and also keeping up with Jambo. So there is lots more to come. Lope climbs up the rock to have another look at where the tortoises are while he's clenching his fingers into a fist. He moves on, carefully avoiding the stick with his leg. Another look around, before he climbs higher up. I don't think he's able to see the tortoises from there so he climbs back down again. Going into the back room and coming back out closer to the window. Strutting past me. You might have seen a couple of subtitles that you can turn on or off. This is my first attempt at this and I was wondering what you think about the idea? I would love to hear your views in the comments. Is that something you would use/turn on? It would only be about the video, maybe explaining who is who or a couple of key moments? I wouldn't be able to do the whole video as I'm still the sole editor of my own videos on this channel. Your views/ideas would be much appreciated. Don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell for more! #SloggerVlogger #Gorillas #SloggerVloggerGorillas As you might know, Lope is in his bachelor pad and in quarantine for him to be moved abroad. Most French vegetarians and vegans will let you know that it’s not simple avoiding meat in France, the land of culinary savoir faire, though the state of affairs is altering considerably. More and more, vegetarian choices might be discovered throughout the nation–since 2018, colleges have been legally required to supply vegetarian or vegan choices in the future per week.
This appears to be confirmed by the truth that Michelin awarded certainly one of its stars to a restaurant close to Bordeaux serving solely animal-free dishes. The restaurant known as ONA, which stands for Origine Non Animale (animal free origins). Its proprietor and chef, Claire Vallée, was considerably shocked when she acquired the decision from Michelin on Thursday night time. Michelin advised AFP that ONA is the primary vegan restaurant in France to win a star.
ONA is positioned in Ares, close to the Arcachon basin, a seaside resort in southwest France, identified for its wild countryside, oyster farming and Europe’s largest sand dune, the Dune du Pilat. Vallée told France 3 that it “was among the finest moments of my life” and that she is extremely pleased with her workforce.
The Local also reported that ONA was additionally awarded a inexperienced star, which Michelin began awarding final 12 months for excellence in moral practices. Vallée began the enterprise in 2016 with a mortgage from a inexperienced financial institution, Le Nef, and a profitable crowdfunding marketing campaign, amassing €10,000 ($12,124). Vallée advised AFP that conventional banks had stated that “the outlook for veganism and plant-based meals was too unsure.”
Michelin has come beneath criticism for operating its annual awards in the course of the Covid-19 pandemic, when most eating places are closed. Gwendal Poullennec, head of the Michelin Information, defended the decision to proceed in 2021, as a technique to assist the trade–crucially, nobody has misplaced stars throughout this tumultuous interval. Different meals guides determined to cancel awards for this 12 months.
