Eddie, posting to TikTok: Look, I love my husband. I adore this man and I have for the majority of my life. He is the shining star in my sky.
Eddie: And I know. I know he wants to read more this year. And I know that when you’re dyslexic, it can be really difficult and I’m happy every time he accomplishes what he wants but…
*Flips camera to show Steve reading on the other side of the couch*
Eddie, gesturing: What kind of demented book handling is this? That book is bent in half. It’s a hardback!

What the argument looks like.
Rashta is still a terrible person! Having a sad backstory doesn't make it okay for her to abuse her power! She needs to face consequences for her actions
Agreed 👍
But Heinrey just wants to defend his queens honor.. he's just trying to make sure Navier can feel safe! ☺️"
Wait but... didn't he steal magic from children?
It was just for war, it was necessary-
And didn't Navier benefit from magic stolen from the mages?...
she deserved it after all she went through! Besides Heinrey gave it all back cause he loves Navier so much! 😊
but wouldn't it had been better if Heinrey actually suffered consequences?
Consequences for what? He already got Navier scolding him.
Yeah and she forgave him 5 minutes later, that's not really consequences that's just a woman instantly forgiving her husband without effort on his part.
Your being unreasonable now, you just don't want Navier to have a husband to defend her.
I-.. when did I say that!?
You were implying it.
How does pointing out that Heinrey isn't a good person either implying I don't want Navier to have a husband who defends her!?
He's a emperor! He has to assert his power so no one threatens him or his wife so it's normal.
Okay but he's doing to this to the extremes.. threatening to fire a man when he is rightfully worried about a new queen with no warning, arranging for a child to be put in danger so he can have a reason to torture a man who only insulted Navier, killed innocent servants in a rampage when Duke Zemensias son tried to kill her-
exactly he's just trying to defend his wife!
Your missing the point.. those innocent people were being made victims just for either not agreeing immediately to Navier or just happening to be at the wrong place at the wrong time..
Well that sucks but at least he's still good most of the time 😌
..okay let me put this in a language I know youll understand: Rashta became a concubine for the protection and guarantee for a life she always wanted right?
Yup.
And when she became empress... her goal shifted to maintaining her position so her 2nd child will have a good life..
Yup.
And in doing that, she harmed innocent people to get what she wanted. People who didn't deserve to die and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time..and easy excuse for her is that she was just asserting her power to defend herself..
I know! Trashta just doesn't know when to stop!
okay... so we agree that while Rashta had her circumstances and wanted to protect her child.. that doesn't mean those people needed to be killed or mutilated..
Definitely!
And she suffered consequences for her actions right?
Haha yeah! Finally getting what she deserves for stealing Naviers man!
Alright, so then if we agree she should face consequences for hurting innocent people, then Heinrey shouldn't be rewarded by the narrative for harming innocent people.
Stop defending Trashta!
Im not.. I'm literally doing the opposite of defending Rashta! I'm pointing out that it is extremely unfair that when a villainess does something evil for her child then it's a horrible decision that calls for her head being cut off, but when the male lead does to same thing for his wife, he only gets a slap on the wrist because "he loves his wife so much!" Both are bad people who take their anger out on the one that can give the biggest excuse to explain why did what they they did. Tell me right now that you think it's fair that innocent people's lives deserve to be ruined at the hands of the Emperor if they inconvenience Navier.
...at least he isn't unfaithful 😌

Between some of Tuvok's favorite music being monks chanting, having a copy of a proto-Vulcan drama in his quarters, reciting poetry that no one else likes (his own? someone else's? unclear: It's a talent night which implies the former but the two who mention it say 'Vulcan poetry' - not 'His/Tuvok's poetry') buying a meditation lamp from a Vulcan master even though the guy doubled the price on him last minute, the fact that he's always reading alone in the mess hall and wants others to know he stands apart from them (taking steps to ensure this is the case), and that he's memorized The Dictates of Poetics by T'hain of Vulcan (being very opinionated about them), I feel like we the audience can cobble together a lot about his taste in media and that's honestly so special. He also likes and actively follows sumo wrestling. That's important. Not because it adds or subtracts to what I've said above but because I think it's kind of funny. He, Janeway, and Chakotay all just really like sumo.

i see a lot of criticisms of self-censorship slang/ “tiktok speak” on here made by people who genuinely seem to be unaware of how much more puritanical, strict, and ridiculous a lot of content moderation algorithms have become in the last few years in order to curate a more advertiser-friendly environment. it’s not just tiktok. other platforms are following suit and getting worse.
the normalization and unnecessary use of words like unalived, grape, sewerslide, etc in real life conversations, DMs, or on platforms that don’t have such strict content moderation rules (like tumblr) is a problem and should be criticized. but just criticizing people for using it at all is wildly out of touch and very “old man yells at cloud” to me.
censorship in the pursuit of advertiser friendliness and monetization is the core problem here, not the people who only use self-censorship slang to to avoid triggering the auto-moderation algorithms.

Dec 6. Prompt: Obstacle. Word count: 172  @jegulus-microfic
I wrote the tiniest bit of angst for this prompt so I had to write some pure fluff to balance it out.
When James Potter had asked him out on a date, he knew he’d end up in some silly or weird situation because it’s James. What he hadn’t expected was to be standing in his socks in front of  a giant foam obstacle course.
“Seriously? This is your idea of a first date?”
“Oh come on Reggie. You’ve been so stressed lately, this is perfect to let it all out.” James is looking at him with pleading big brown eyes.
“You’re lucky I don’t let it all out on you.”
James’ smile turns into a smirk and he steps so close to Reg, looking down at him. “Oh you absolutely can, but let me at least buy you dinner first. I am, after all, a gentleman.”
Regulus is so busy trying to keep himself from hyperventilating that he doesn’t notice James bending down until he’s thrown over his shoulder. “But for now…” and he jumps into the pit of foam cubes.
Regulus is way less stressed when he gets home the next day.

Thinking of a The Bear fanfic where Nat sees that Richie’s parents have booked a table at the restaurant. She calls Carmy over and they discuss what to do, whether to tell him or just cancel it because he hasn't spoken to them since he was in his 20s.
They agree to tell him eventually but work on them as general guests, getting to know them, Carmy decides to ask Marcus to make some kind of special dessert. This is when Syd finds out, because they're trying to source authentic Ukrainian ingredients (going with Ebon's idea that Richie’s ethnically Ukrainian after Ebon's wife).
Richie knows something’s going on. Syd gets angry on the phone and shouts out, "Does anyone understand fucking Ukrainian?" Before realising that Richie’s in the kitchen. Richie sees Marcus and Carmy stressing about a dish but they won't tell him what it is, he puts it down to this new menu every day idea that Carmy’s got.
But when he sees them all in the office, and hears his name, he gets them to tell him. He doesn't react how they think, doesn't shout or blame anyone. He just says "okay" and immediately works out for a cigarette.
Carmy, and Syd, meet him out there as he talks about his childhood. Parents were both immigrants, they had him young, his Dad joined the Army because he thought it was the proper thing for a man to do. They moved around, his mother was kinder than his father but still not very expressive in her way. His father was stern, there was no room for argument.
His dad got injured and they moved to Chicago permanently. Richie met Mickey, they didn’t get along at first, Mickey was so charismatic while Richie tended to blend into the background. But they eventually hit it off after ending up in detention together.
Richie was fascinated by the Berzattos and how loud they were, the highs were high and the lows were low. Donna was the polar opposite of his mother and he was entranced by it all. He spent more time there, attending their Christmas Eve dinners with the excuse that the Jerimovich's didn’t celebrate Christmas until later (being eastern orthodox and all) but he really couldn't stand to be in his own home, which was so much quieter as a result.
His dad tried to get him to join the Army like he did, ending up in a massive argument when Richie’s 18. They don't talk much and eventually lose contact all together. Richie started saying he was Italian at this point because he was closer to the Berzattos than his own family so why couldn't he be?
Richie tells them to carry on with what they were doing, and tells them what dessert to make. He still hides from them on the night, runs Expo so he doesn't have to face them until the surprise dessert.
He brings out the dessert, they meet eyes and his dad nods, barely smiling. Syd invites them in for a tour and Richie gets talking to his dad about how he’s a father now, how he’s divorced, how Mickey died. He says he understands what he meant when he was a kid. He wanted him to have honour and purpose, which the Army would bring. Richie also says he’s glad he didn't join the Army but knows what he meant now.
This is when his dad tells him he's dying and Richie flips a switch. Suddenly he's shouting and he doesn't know why, it doesn't even feel like a conscious decision as he digs into him for not being there, for only trying to find him when it suits him. Because if he can find him now, why couldn't he try when he wasn’t dying, why does he only mean something to him when he's a loose end!
He stops and says to his dad that he should go. His mother's showing everyone baby photos of Richie when they come back in. He escorts them out, when his mother, having heard everything, simply says "We didn't know you worked here" ending by calling him Rooster in Ukrainian (her endearment to him because he was always the loudest in their coup), and leaves, putting their phone numbers in his pocket.
