A beloved hen, who no longer lives.

She was a Barred Rock. She had intelligent eyes and was exceptionally friendly. She had a habit of "talking" to me whenever I would see her.

She is missed.

New array of chickens, thank you for all the suggestions!  Putting all the breeds so far in the tags, also some new requests came in recently, and a couple people have mentioned silkies?  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get that adorable fluffy head, but will attempt at some point.

Working on some chicken variations. Might be a little while till I get them in the shop, but if you have chicken breeds you desire let me know. It’s hard with my color palette, but I’ll try my darndest.

A sad little update from my family: Domzo and Screamy both passed away in the last month

They called me when Domzo wasn’t seeming herself. I tried to do as much chicken doctoring as I could through the phone but knew it was already too late and she died the next day. She was a funny chicken, she didn’t like being around people and seemed to be pretty scared of everything. In contrast to Screamy (who was the heaviest) she was the lightest regular sized chicken I’ve ever held.

Screamy’s death is extra sad as my family thinks she got heatstroke. They found her in the laying box and think she got stuck because they’d never noticed her in there before. The coop is made of stainless steel so gets very hot in the summer but I also think it’s possible though that she was just an old lady. She was around 8 (maybe older!). My stepmum feels very guilty though and blames herself for not checking on them, but she had covid at the time and was too unwell to go outside so I don’t think much blame can really be put on her, accidents happen. Even when it’s sad.

Rest In Peace to these two stripy girls, I hope wherever they are there’s lots of sunflower seeds ❤️

The chicks are growing! Putting my chicken ramblings under a read more.

So the gray one is Bunny, the red one is Tacy, the black one is Epsie, and the yellow one is Jemima.

I named them, but they are not my chicks. They belong to a family friend.

On Sunday they all snuggled in my hand. Now I'm just someone they met back when they were little. XD

Bunny does not like to be touched or held AT ALL. She doesn't even like my hand near, no matter how slow and gentle I try to be. The family friend said she can be a bit grumpy. When she grows up, she might lay green eggs.

Epsie seems relatively laid back. She also seems to try and play "big sister" to the other chicks. It's hard to see, but you can sort of see in the one picture of her that a little feather is growing out of her head.

Jemima didn't like the process of being picked up, but once she was in my hands, she seemed pretty happy. She even dozed off a couple of times. It seemed like she and Tacy stick together some, but I might be imagining that.

Now Tacy is a snuggle bug. I picked her up and she immediately closed her eyes, relaxed, and took a nap. Eventually my hands got tired, but as you can see in the picture, she didn't want to leave my hand! I'm trying really hard not to play favorites, but she's a real sweetie.

I don't know how often I'll be able to visit them. I hope I can learn more about their personalities. I was also promised an awkward teenage phase that I'm looking forward to!
