My fourth wall OCs! â„ (Patreon)
I tried to put everything in the tags but ended up being too long-winded lol, so here it is instead!
For this yearâs big behind-the-scenes project, I realized I havenât given colour references to a lot of my 4th Wall characters! There are...a surprising proportion of femboys who are aware of their existence here now that I look at it lol - I mean technically only Cory and Mint count there but that's still 2/8 - a fourth is kind of a lot! Their sizing is pretty funny to me as well, Coryâs proportions make everyone else look tiny by comparison, heâs just got a very large eye! Set right next to Gijat too, Vortians are so compact - heâs fully grown heâs an adult heâs just small!
Okay, for actuals now, starting left-to-right - while theyâre obviously organized by height, it's funny because Cure is also the oldest by creation date. She's front of the line on everything! How silly. She's larger than your average plush bear but only by a little - just enough to be like Mildly intimidating if she approached haha. Puntable - and yet unpuntable lol. It's not just her being the oldest of the lot that makes her more powerful (although that is a contributing factor - sheâs aware of her status both in and out of character!). It's not just Kids Rules either since she was made such a long time ago - y'know like ''Oh yeah well my character is [very powerful for X reasons]'' - although yes Also That lol. She's a Fourth Wall OC down to her roots, always intended that way - not everyone here can say that!
Tala also has that edge! Though in a very different way haha - she's also the only one here with a physical counterpart, which is fun :D Means she can go on âactualâ adventures and bring that knowledge back with her cartoon versions - both are as real as the other! I keep forgotting her bow, agh, I need to take some more pictures of her sometime so my mental picture of her is more up to date haha
I guess my blankslate HF expression kind of counts?? Lol, itâs mostly for funsies, theyâre more like a Concept As Person so?? Sure lol, With Accessories of course lol - havenât been fighting it much lately so thatâs all for now âȘ I wonder if theyâll stay so lucky in the near future hmmm
Gijat! â„ He ended up being an accidental fourth wall character actually haha, he wasnât designed with that in mind! He's not meant to know such things, but he did fairly well with it while he was part of the main rotation :) He was designed to be a story character but he ended up being my favourite comfort character so he got a few glimpses out <3 He hasn't for a while though! He's been retired for a long while actually - he's the second oldest character in the lineup after Cure but she had more staying power, sorry Gi <3 I did draw his fairy version not all That long ago tho! Itâs hard to let go of anyone for Too long haha
Cory â„ My sweet special boy <3 He's also the third oldest here! He was the first one to assert himself as a fourth wall OC haha âȘ Cure didn't really congeal into an OC for a long time - she stayed a concept and Gijat was on accident - whereas Cory purposefully and clearly looked outward from the start. He Has a story but it's never been all That developed - he has some non-4th Wall character-friends but his main focus is other, unrelated characters. He's always been very interested in other OCs, a lot of which stems from Bar actually haha - he and Bar are near-contemporaries - they're both featured here for a reason haha
Mint >:| He's...fine. He was inspired from a weird source and has therefore always Been weird - and also asserted himself like Cory. Same story - he has canon story elements but for the most part he's interested in others! Usually in a Pursuit kind of way, and not just limited to my OCs >:/ He needs to behave himself is what - he also has like 1000 outfits and they rarely repeat, ugh, pick one! I wasnât familiar with the eGirl aesthetic at the time I made him, but he 100% fits it, look at him in his elf ears and heterochromatic contacts smh. I donât actually know his real eye colour, or hair colour! He wears contacts and dyes his hair and wonât tell me, he even started dating a non-4th wall character without asking! Heâs a real wild card
Erase is probably the babiest of the list despite Tala being newer and younger - everyone else was made before Erase! Theyâve had had less screen time and less development than everyone else too. They're an incredibly light and oddly harmless fourth wall presence lol for all the danger They pose in Their story :0 They're fairly polite all things considered. They actually have a degree of respect for the fourth wall - unlike Some people (Mint) - probably from acknowledging The Player/Character vs. developer. If there's a hierarchy capable of being distinguished then Erase is going to place Themself in the safest spot. Y'know - to cause problems from lol. I do need to play with Them more - They're fun! But fun isn't quite enough to be full-fledged Interesting just yet, more to do, more to do
It's almost unfair to have Erase right next to Bar lol - possibly my most Interesting OC of all time. First created in 2015 quite soon after Cory, even in the same notebook! He retired in 2017, I think? 2018 at the latest - and then was revived in 2020 and has been here again since. And that's just his timeline! Not counting everything that went into him character-wise. Obviously my sonas don't count as 4th wall OCs because y'know - they're me - but Bar falls kind of unclear of the line between OC and sona, he's always been a weird one. He was initially meant to be an RP character and then over time he developed into a 4th wall OC/sona of a Kind. Nowadays he's a fully-fledged 4th wall OC by design - his change in design from his 2020 revival was meant to represent his transformation thereof - but he's always been weird! If I had to pick a character that Iâd consider âoverdevelopedâ or put too much of myself in - even more than some of my sonas - it'd be him. He's one of my favourites because of that but it's hard to quantify how exactly I feel about him haha. I love him! It's painful! He's great! He's awful! He's very important to me and he'll never return to being what he was first created for again. I do quite like his new design <3 Paying homage to the video that sent him crashing back into relevance for me haha
It was fun to draw everyone :D And it's nice that they all have colour references now! Mint has definitely been the longest without one, everyone else has had at least Something - even Erase! And They're way newer! I did make Mint in a couple online dollmakers but that's not quite the same thing haha, he really needs his clothes hand-drawn :P
It's good to have them all :) They're a fun bunch and I like all of them <3 I think itâs kinda funny and a little strange how few crossovers theyâve had with each other though! So far itâs really only been Tala-Bar-Cory - the rest are aware of each other but havenât really met, how strange, considering what they are!
#My art#Original#Would definitely recommend opening in a new tab on this one lol#This year's Requestober warmup project!#I actually ended up finishing everything well before the end of the season so I had to cast around for a few smaller things to do haha#But if anything I'm quite pleased that something of this size was able to be done so quickly!#It does help that my 4th wall OCs are some of my favourites haha - they get invited out! Or push themselves there >:P#I don't mind with Cory but Mint smh#I don't Really mind with Mint either pft but I do like to give him a hard time - he's a troublemaker!#On top of the high proportion of femboys there's also a lot of troublemakers in here - some of these interactions would be explosive lol#I do think it'd be fun to have them all meet up a bit more! Cure showed interest in Mint not too long ago#And Cory loves everyone haha he's actually very good about all that - he's kind of like a foster parent welcoming new rescues hahaha#He's always been like that <3 It's why he gets a birthday celebration most years good boys deserve good birthdays#I think Gijat would probably be overwhelmed by most everyone haha he really wasn't built to interact with others outside of his own story#And his fairy version probably hates me so there's that lol#He's good with kids tho! He could probably chat with Tala and they'd both be alright :)#Bar as usually snapping up any spare screentime and focus - gotta talk about him! Pft âȘ#He's fairly chill thankfully - a little standoffish but that's to be expected really#Now that I think of it I drew Cory holding a tiny Bar when they were first contemporaries - I could do the opposite now!#Bar throws off the scale of everyone else so much haha <3#Goods lads â„

Chaconne (Agatha Harkness x Reader)
Summary: You are an aspiring concert violinist who attends an audition for the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, under the new direction of famous conductor Agatha Harkness
Word Count: 4.2K
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBNquKkKcF4
A/N: Hello! This is an AU fic heavily inspired by one of my favorite tv shows Mozart In The Jungle. This is going to be at least 3 more chapters, and I already have the second part done so it should be uploaded by the weekend. Also, I added a link to the piece that is heavily mentioned throughout this fic. Itâs not necessary to listen to it before reading (or at all haha), I just thought Iâd add it in for anyone curious :) Hope yâall enjoy! Please let me know what you think, and my inbox is always open for any questions. Also: I do not own Mozart In The Jungle...Jeff Bezos please do not sue me.Â
You rushed through the bustling streets of Manhattan, silently cursing yourself for not getting a cab. Not that it wouldâve made much of a difference; rush hour in the city was horrendous no matter what form of transportation you chose. But at least you would have been sitting in an air conditioned car and not running through the crowded streets. You tightened your grip on your violin case as you hurried across the street, destination clear in your mind.
You had been finishing up your final private lesson of the day when you received a call from one of your old college friends. They informed you to drop everything you were doing, not literally because that would include your very expensive and very fragile violin, and hurry down to symphony hall because one of the first violinists in the Manhattan Symphony had sprained her wrist and they were holding open auditions.
A part of you knew the odds of being selected from hundreds of the best violinists in one of the most affluent cities for music was slim to none, but you also knew you had to take this chance. Itâs what you had been working so hard towards during undergrad and grad school, and it would be nice to have a more...stable job. The Manhattan Symphony Orchestra was one of the greatest and well respected orchestras in the world, and you would kill to earn a chair. Â
You ran faster than you had in months, and made a mental note to add more cardio to your basically nonexistent workout regime because wow, you were out of shape. Rounding the corner, you quickly dodged running into other pedestrians and could see symphony hall a block away. Despite the burning in your lungs begging you to stop running like a mad woman, you picked up the pace and sprinted to the building.
Ever since you started playing the violin you swore to anyone who would listen that you would play in the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra. Your siblings would always ask for concert tickets to see their favorite band, or sporting tickets, but you always begged your parents to take you to the symphony. While your siblings hated it and complained how long and boring it was (and the outrage that they werenât allowed to bring food inside), you were enraptured by the entire experience.
You fell in love with the sounds of Dvorak, Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Sitting in the concert hall you waited in anticipation to watch the musicians who had spent their entire lives preparing for that moment; to pour every ounce of their soul into their instruments. Ever since the moment you stepped inside your first concert hall at the young age of five, you knew this is where you wanted to spend the rest of your life.
Shaking those thoughts aside you hurried through the building to where the blind auditions were being held. You silently thanked whatever genius came up with the idea of a blind audition, because you were a mess after running over twelve blocks from your apartment. Following the signs on the walls, you found the warm up room, but was surprised to find everyone packing up.
There were over a dozen people of various ages, and you noticed one of them crying. A woman around your age noticed your disheveled appearance and sighed. âIf youâre here for the blind auditions, they were cancelled.ïżœïżœïżœ
You felt your heart drop. âWhat? Did they already find someone?â
âNo, because the new conductor is a total psycho,â Someone else said angrily. âShe kept yelling about how weâre all wasting her time and sheâd rather have her pet rabbit play New World Symphony.â He motioned to the girl who was sobbing. âAnd she told Megan her tone was so bad that she would personally throw her violin into a wood chipper so no one would have to suffer through her performing again.â
The new conductor he was referring to was one of your favorites. Agatha Harkness. She was beloved throughout the music community and had many fans, but you had heard rumors of her hard work ethic and ability to make people cry in under a minute. You thought back to your undergrad violin lessons where one of your professors told you that your tone while playing Mendelssohn sounded like a dying donkey. Musicians were often times very blunt.
âThatâs a bit harsh.â
âA bit?â The guy rolled his eyes. âThis job isnât worth it. Iâm going to audition for the second violin chair in Iowa. It might not be as great of an orchestra but at least their conductor isnât the devil incarnate.â
As the others continued to pack up, you still felt your gut twisting at what could have been. Feeling rejected, you left the room and saw the back entrance to the stage open. From a quick glance around it appeared the hallway was deserted, so you quickly ran through the door, violin case still in hand.
Time came to a stand still as you walked on stage and stared into the seemingly empty concert hall. You dreamt about this moment more times than you cared to admit. There was something so peaceful about being on stage. Taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes and pictured a scene you had spent years dreaming about. Realizing the opportunity to play in this hall wouldnât likely come again, you made the split decision to open your violin case.
Staring at your violin, you briefly wondered if this was a good idea. But, you silently argued that no one else was around, and besides, you did run half a mile to get here. It would be a waste to not play and appreciate the gorgeous acoustics. Plus you could feel your fingers aching to play something, anything, to let out the feelings of  disappointment from missing the auditions.
Gently pulling out your bow, you applied a generous amount of rosin before grabbing your violin. You took a few minutes to tune, and the moment your bow hit the strings you felt a shiver at how the sound bounced off the walls. You went through a condensed version of your normal warm up and played a few different scales before debating on what piece to play.
Although your friend had briefly explained the audition would be sight reading and then playing excerpts from Dvorakâs New World Symphony, the auditions were over and you wanted to play something else. It wasnât the flashiest piece, or one of the better known violin concertos, but it felt right. Vitaliâs Chaconne arranged by Charlier. You had originally learned the gorgeous piece during your junior year of undergrad for a concerto competition and it had quickly become a favorite.
Clearing your mind of everything but the music, you closed your eyes and began to play. Your bow swept across the string, producing the opening g-minor chord. The melodic sound rang through the empty hall and you felt your heart ache at how good this felt. It had been a while since you had the time to play this piece, but it was like it had been no time at all. Your fingers danced across the strings and you felt all the uneasiness leave your body.
While this wasnât the most complex piece you had ever played, it required your full attention. The chaconne was structured as a simple sixteen bar phrase that was rephrased and dallied up with different techniques and melodies which made it easy enough to memorize, but hard enough that you needed to focus on the pattern your fingers made.
With every movement of your bow, every run you made up and down the fingerboard, you were letting out the pain and sadness you felt radiating through your body. It was hard to put into words how playing the violin made you feel, but the best explanation you had come up with was that it was your salvation. There was no sweeter medicine than performing. No matter how out of control life was, how bad things got, your solution was turning to music. It saved you.
As you neared the end of the piece, you felt your bow arm gently ache and you knew you had to have complete focus if you were going to hit the upcoming octave slides that led to the double stops of doom. Octaves were never a violinistâs favorite technique, and they were your own personal kryptonite. You had rather tiny hands, which made the stretch from your index to your pinky rather difficult on a good day. You changed the position of your hand to make the reach to hit the upper octave, but briefly winced when you realized you had fallen flat on the lower note.
You ended with a flourish of your bow on the final g-minor chord and let out the breath you had been holding in. You stood there for a moment, soaking in the afterglow of your performance and enjoying the quiet that radiated throughout the spacious room. Just as you went to clean off your violin and leave before you got kicked out, you heard the sound of slow clapping from within the hall. The hall was dimmed and you saw a figure sitting far up in the upper rows. The mystery figure continued clapping and they stood up and walked down the steps towards the stage. There in all her glory stood Agatha Harkness, the newest conductor of the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra.
âNot bad, but your octave slides could use some touching up,â Agatha offered as she stood at the bottom of the stage. âYou tend to go flat on the lower notes.â
You felt your breath hitch as you saw the famous, and apparently very scary, conductor staring at you. âIâm so sorry, I didnât realize anyone was still here.â
âAh so you arenât here for the auditions?â Agatha questioned, arching an eyebrow up at you. âWhat are you doing here then, breaking and entering? Iâd hate to have to call security on you.â
âWhat? No, no Iâm not...â You stammered, feeling your cheeks turn red. âI came for the auditions but I was told they were cancelled.â
Agatha laughed, and you noticed how it was more of a cackle. âThey were. But believe me dear, Iâm sure you would have done the same if you were in my shoes.â
âOne of them said you threatened to throw their violin in a wood chipper. Isnât that a little mean?â You pointed out.
âYou did not have to listen to that imbecile butcher the opening of Mendelssohn,â Agatha argued, folding her hands across her chest. âThrowing her violin in a wood chipper would be the least I could do to ensure no one else suffers hearing that disgrace of a sound ever again.â
You stifled a giggle that threatened to escape. âIâm sure it wasnât that bad.â
Agatha waved her hand in the air. âMaybe. But you,â she pointed a finger at you, intrigue colored her features. âYou were good. Vitaliâs Chaconne is a personal favorite of mine. Everyone always chooses to play Tchaikovskyâs Violin Concerto in D Major, or Mendelssohn, or Brahms, or something big and flashy. Iâve always preferred a more subdued piece like Vitali. Violinists donât take enough time to appreciate the beauty of a chaconne.â
You stared at her in disbelief. Almost no one had even heard of Vitaliâs Chaconne, but she did and it was her favorite. âThank you, Miss Harkness. I-â
âAh ah ah,â Agatha waved a finger to silence you. âIâm not finished. You were good, but not great. Your octave slides were flat. Your bow hold is giving me a headache, you need to relax more. Your vibrato is too fast, we need to work on slowing it down. Didnât your teacher ever tell you that? And donât even get me started on your opening chord.â She eyed the younger woman before continuing. âBut despite all that, you have promise.â
You were speechless. She wasnât yelling at you? âYou think I have promise?â
Agatha nodded. âWhich is why Iâm offering you a job.â
âI got the position?â You smiled. âI canât believe it.â
Agathaâs eyebrows furrowed. âWhat? No, donât be ridiculous. Youâre not ready to play with the Manhattan Symphony.â
âBut you said you were offering me a job,â you repeated the words of the older woman.
âAnd I am. As my personal assistant,â Agatha explained as if it was the most obvious answer.
âYou want me to be your assistant?â You said in disbelief. âMiss Harkness Iâm not so sure if Iâm qualified-â
Agatha cut you off again. âIf youâre serious about being a violinist, especially being a violinist in my orchestra, we need to work on your technique. Natural talent only gets you so far my dear.â She shrugged. âAnd I may have just fired my newest assistant for being entirely incompetent.â
âI donât know what to say,â You admitted. This certainly isnât how you expected your day to go.
âIâm not going to force you to work for me, dear,â Agatha drawled out. âYou can walk right out that door and continue on with your presumably simple and boring life.â
âAnd if I stay?â You prompted, already knowing what you were going to choose.
Agatha slowly walked up the steps of the stage and approached you. âWell then Iâll have my work cut out for me. As will you, darling. Iâll be working you quite hard.â You blushed at her suggestive tone and she smirked at your reaction. âBlushing already? Iâve barely even started.â
You cleared you throat before nodding. âAlright. Iâll do it.â
âThen letâs get started.â Agatha smirked. âThis is going to be fun. Now, letâs take it from the top.â
Working for Agatha was interesting. She was very hard to read, and you could never tell if she was mad at you or if she was just in a mood. You had spent the past few weeks helping her prepare for the first symphony rehearsal of the season. Granted you werenât doing much to help, all she was asking you to do was make copies of parts and to organize folders for each section.
Today was different. You entered the mostly empty building with a drink holder containing two cups of coffee in one hand and your violin case in the other when the sound of Agathaâs heels came click-clacking down the hallway. From the moment she rounded the corner, you could tell she was in a foul mood.
She was mumbling something incoherent but she stopped when she spotted you. âYouâre late.â
You chose to not comment on the fact you were an hour early and instead carefully set down your violin case to hand her one of the cups of coffee. âBad morning?â
âHayward is an asshole,â Agatha seethed. âI had the entire season planned out but he thinks Iâm not appealing to our investors.â
Well that explained it. Tyler Hayward was CFO of the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra and was a Grade-A asshole. You only had a few interactions with the man but they had all been quite unpleasant. He was less than pleased to discover Agatha had fired the assistant he hired and chose to hire you without consulting him. Luckily Agatha had all but kicked him out of her office and told you to come to her if he gave you a hard time.
âHow is Dvorakâs Symphony No. 9 not appealing to investors?â You asked in confusion. âEveryone loves The New World Symphony.â
âThatâs not the problem. He thinks Iâm playing it too safe with the soloists,â Agatha explained and you thought of the soloists selected thus far. You could see how they would be safe options, but who doesnât love Joshua Bell?
âBut itâs too late to get out of those contracts without losing money,â You pointed out. âDoes Hayward not know that?â
âOh believe me, Hayward always gets his way,â Agatha spat out, and you noticed she appeared to be growing angrier. âHeâs still mad I was voted in as music director by the board instead of his choice for the position, so heâs punishing me. And now I have to deal with Maximoff.â
You made a mental note to address the first part about Hayward later when Agatha wasnât as grumpy, but grinned at the mention of the famous pianist. âMaximoff as in the Wanda Maximoff? Sheâs-â
âA wild card and not the soloist I envisioned having,â Agatha finished for you, glaring at the mere thought of the woman as you both walked towards her office.
âBut sheâs an amazing pianist,â You argued, remembering the one time you had the opportunity to watch her perform live with the Royal Philharmonic. âThe way she plays is beautiful, and magical, and-â
Agatha growled and glared at you, picking up the speed she was walking at. âAnd she has no control. She doesnât listen to direction and thinks sheâs always right. Her ego is her downfall.â
You arched an eyebrow. âWow, that sounds absolutely nothing like you.â
Agatha let out a laugh but still sent you another glare. âDonât push it, darling,â Agatha warned you as she unlocked the door to her office. âI am nothing like Wanda Maximoff.â
You rolled your eyes after she turned around. âRight. So Iâll take the Beethoven parts out to make room for Wandaâs piece?â
Agatha sighed and combed her fingers through her wildly curly hair. âWell Iâd rather just tell the little Sokovian princess sheâs not allowed anywhere near my orchestra. But since that would be frowned upon, yes put the Beethoven back. Her agent should be emailing us the parts later today.â
You set off to prepare the dreadful task of reorganizing each folder while Agatha studied different scores. She had her baton out and was mindlessly conducting as she went through the fourth movement of the Dvorak. Over the past few weeks you had started to fall in love with watching her conduct. There was something so mesmerizing by the way she could bring different pieces to life with the mere movement of her hands. You watched her right hand lightly grip the baton and noticed the position of her fingers lightly grasping the silver object while her blue eyes scanned the score.
She felt your staring and smirked as she continued conducting. âSee something you like, dear?â
Blushing furiously you went back to your task of sorting music, but every once in a while you allowed yourself to take a break to watch Agatha conduct, and although she smirked whenever she noticed, she didnât make any more comments. Eventually you finished the work and put the folders away while filing the Beethoven in the cabinet.
âGood, youâre done,â Agatha said as she stood up. âNow itâs time for my favorite part of the day.â
You internally groaned and realized what she wanted. âWhere you make one of the interns cry and go get lunch?â
âClose, dear. But no.â She motioned to your violin case. âCome.â
This was your least favorite part of the day. Now, you were used to receiving constructive criticism, and even just good old fashioned criticism. Over the years you had less than kind violin teachers, and you shuddered at the memory of Stefan throwing a chair across the room when you only had three pages of Mendelssohn fully memorized two months before your recital preview. He kept yelling in Russian that he would not be the first faculty member to have a student fail a preview. Or the time Jacqueline caused you to have a panic attack right before your sophomore year concerto competition because she didnât âlike your stage presenceâ and went on some insane rant, and then yelled at you more while you were sobbing. Ah, the fond memories you had of college.
But there was something so intensely nerve wracking about performing in front of Agatha that it made all of those encounters seem like fun and games. You werenât sure what it was about the woman, but there was just something about her presence that constantly had you on edge. What made it ten times worse was that Agatha seemed to be aware of the effect she had on you, and did whatever she could to make you blush.
You took a few moments to tune your violin and roll your shoulders back while Agatha made herself comfortable in the audience, but you both knew she wouldnât stay out there for long.
âNow darling,â Agatha called out from her seat. âI want you to remember what weâve been working on. The first impression you set when your bow hits the string needs to be dominating. I want to feel like youâre pinning me down on the stage. Make me want it.â
You stared at her incredulously and shook your head, trying not to visualize what she just said to you. âRight...pinning...dominating,â You murmured as you straightened your stance and took a deep breath. Setting your bow on the string, you made sure it was positioned at the frog.
âI can see you tensing from all the way out here,â Agatha said in a mocking tone. âDo I need to come up there and help you relax?â
You knew her coming anywhere near you would do the opposite to relax you. âNope. Just stay where you are!â
âOh, are you the one giving orders now, my dear?â Agatha teased as she slowly got out of her seat and made her way towards the stage. âIâm just trying to help. You need to relax your shoulders, otherwise youâre going to end up with a hunchback.â
âI like the Hunchback of Notre Dame,â You offered weakly as you watched her stalk her way up the stairs, her heels clicking up each step.
Agatha rolled her eyes. âOf course you do.â She closed the distance between you and put her hands on your shoulders. âYou need to relax.â She examined you closer and arched an eyebrow. âAnd breathe, my dear. Unless you want to fall in my arms.â You had taken to staring at the floor of the stage until you felt her hand gently cup your chin, forcing you to gaze at her. âAm I that hideous to look at that?â
âHa, youâre so funny,â You managed to get out before taking a deep breath, and once again tried to relax your shoulders.
Despite your best efforts, you still felt tense, and Agatha noticed it as well. Letting out a gentle huff she moved behind you and began to rub your upper back. âJeez, have you ever had a massage? It seems like you need one.â
âThatâs a bit above my current pay check,â You quipped and blushed when you heard her responding chuckle.
âIf youâre asking for a raise, youâre going to have to do better than that,â Agatha replied, her breath tickling your ear and sending delightful shivers down your spine. âYou need to let go, darling. This much tension in your shoulders will do too much damage to your posture.â
She hit a particularly hard knot and you couldnât help but moan at the sensation. You thought you heard Agatha mumble something under her breath but you were so lost in the sensation you didnât ask her what she said. Agatha continued rubbing your shoulders and you slowly felt yourself relax into her touch.
âThatâs it,â Agatha murmured. âGood girl.â Your eyes shot open at the praise and you heard her lightly chuckle. âRelax, dear. I could do this all day.â
Your shoulders eventually loosened up and you couldnât help but groan when Agatha took a step away from you. âQuit your whining and play that chord,â Agatha demanded as she turned away from you, clapping her hands loudly. âI want to be wowed.â
Taking a deep breath, you fixed your stance before setting your bow back on the string. You were hesitating, and Agatha knew it too.
âAny day now. Itâs not like I have anything else to do,â Agathaâs words were sharp but you knew she meant it as encouragement.
You let go of any fears you had of what would come next as you positioned your fingers on the string and rolled your bow to produce the g-minor chord. Your left wrist was loose enough to slow down your vibrato and you went through the first section without any interruptions from Agatha. As you began the next phrase you remembered what Agatha had told you about making it bigger and better than before.
âAlways leave them wanting more,â Agatha had instructed her. âMake each phrase slightly different. No one wants to suffer through ten minutes of the same few notes.â
You added more vibrato for this phrase and changed the dynamics so you were growing in sound until you heard her calling for you to stop.
âStop! Stop, thatâs enough,â Agatha yelled as she walked back towards you. âThat was...better.â
âDare I say you sound surprised?â You joked causing her to glare at you.
âFishing for compliments, are we?â She questioned, but eventually relented. âYouâre getting better.â
You grinned wildly at her praise. âThat was the nicest thing youâve said to me so far today.â
âKeeping score?â Agatha mused, a smile threatening to tug at her lips at your enthusiasm. âLike I said, youâre getting better, but thereâs a lot of work to do. I want to hear those octave slides and not feel like my ears are bleeding from your intonation. Chop chop.â

Some more mass effect andromeda thinky thoughts as I run around heleus getting some achievements!Â
- the murderous angaran ai is genuinely so fucking funny. âHow are you feeling here on Aya?â âI hope you dieâ âIs there anything we could do to make you more comfortable?â âBURY THIS PLANET UNDER FIRE AND ASHâ âo.oookay. Goodbye then.â âI HATE you.â
- I hope I never become irresistibly moved to write mass effect andromeda fic b/c there really is no other description for a good 70% of the expressions reyes makes than :> and how could one capture that in words
- as mentioned Iâve been doing a bit of achievement hunting and in the process Iâve been switching up a lot of gameplay stuff from how I handled it the first few times around and let me tell you itâs baller as fuuuuuuuuuck -- it just looks so awesome and is so satisfying between the maneuverability of the jetpack and biotic charge and the effects. special shoutout to what happens if you biotic charge a frozen victim enemy and the biotic pull/push combination. (throwing people around like ragdolls is actually so much fun Iâve kept doing it even after I unlocked the achievement lol)
- lol lol when you get meridian online thereâs the montage of every planet coming back to life, right? well the one on kadara is from inside krallaâs song, with umi looking out at everything thatâs happening. and all I can imagine is her jaded-ass voice going âwhat the fUCK did that asshole kid do now I only just cleaned up after the bar brawl he started with his krogan grandpa and now heâs rearranging the entire fucking planet right from under us goddess I need a drinkâÂ
- the implication that reyes âcards so close to my chest you wonât even know Iâm playingâ vidal just does not shut up about how amazing ryder is to anyone whoâll listen gives me so much life. when you try to be mysterious and laidback but the human pathfinder is so fucking cute tho Y____Y (also go watch his scenes if youâre being standoffish with him the entire time -- he clearly wants ryder to like him so much right from the beginning, heâs doing so much work to no avail and I feel sort of bad for how funny I find it haha. interesting that it really does seem to be an emotional thing as well as yâknow the practical/tactical benefits of having the pathfinder on his side. methinks the charlatan might be a bit lonely there behind all his masks lol)Â
I think this is why Iâm willing to give him some benefit of the doubt too, despite all the cloak and dagger stuff -- heâs so immediately drawn to ryder, who you can never make a bad person, really. something in him must respond to that, if potentially only in the âattracted to traits I do not possess myselfâ way hahaha
- I love sam. so so much. some of the open world implementation is still grating (yes sam. yes I know I can mine this area for resources through my mining interface. weâve been doing this for a hundred hours sam. youâve been right here with me the entire time sam. please sam), but heâs SUCH a good and Iâd argue underutilized concept (emotionally at least) and the best boy. the fact that he can get SARCASTIC on you fsdhfjsadh heâs growing and learning! heâs doing so from inside your brain which is kind of unsettling but also SO COOL! thereâs something about that level of intimacy, of always knowing there will be someone there with you in your head that is super interesting and deserves to be examined more fully -- both how it could be comforting and how itâs r e a l l y not how people or ai are generally designed to work lol.Â
he also gives us a unique link with our dad and I wonder if the writers would have explored that in more depth if thereâd been more development time -- it practically SCREAMS out an invitation to get to play/see things from alecâs POV in short bursts, like the memories you unlock except you could go through playing it as him since sam is common to both of us. (see my âour dad comes back through either kett or remnant nonsense in the sequel and we need to find some way to connect with himâ idea. it would be. amazing. listen alec already looked at the ethical guidelines involved in creating ai and went âhuh interesting ideas but not for me thanks!â, donât tell me he wouldnât have left some loophole in so this could happen) Â
- reyes literally says âthe cavalryâs hereâ when we get to meridian and I for one love him more than words can express (he also asks us if weâre okay in sort of a sweet/worried way right before we get to the control room. aw buddy)Â
- like we donât think of them like that because weâre in control of them and see all the stumbles and awkwardness and how young they are all the time, but damn the ryder twins must look like something else to everyone in andromeda haha. they literally stride around like demigods restoring entire planets. on voeld spring non-metaphorically follows in their footsteps. shit dude if weâre talking realpolitik here the angara must feel p r e t t y nervous about this -- thereâs no one saying they canât turn off the vaults as easily as they turned them on. I hope we get them somehow teaching the angara how to do it too, on a smaller scale at least, as a show of good faith or something in a sequel, because that power imbalance is disconcerting Â
- Iâm glad sam and I have such similar priorities whenever weâre on kadara. âmaybe mr vidal would know. perhaps we should ask mr vidal about this. mr vidal said something relating to this pathfinder maybe we should speak to himâ . yeah sam i know the feeling, same (it does undeniably read as sam having a bit of a crush which is. hilarious?)Â
- the fact that alec ryder thought ellen responded to his bad boy act in any way when what really charmed her was that he was a great big nerd <3 itâs kind of nice to see a fictional marriage that seems to have just been. nice and stable and chill? just two intellectual equals who like and respect each other very much and not a lot of drama until alec went full alec and started developing rogue ai instead of watching his wife die lol. again I would love for the sequel to involve ellen finally waking up and being like âdeath? trying to claim MY husband? I do not think so, I can die he canât heâs not leaving me behindâ and helping out and you realize that the reason they were soulmates was that under the relatively rational and unemotional surface theyâre both, at heart, batshit crazy mad scientists who are insanely devoted to each other. imagine it tho! the people of andromeda realize alec ryder is back from the dead somehow and doing some Shit out there, they put a ton of resources into curing ellenâs disease because their best shot is something to do with the implants she made, hey presto weâve got all ryders on the board and in play.Â
- just want to make it clear that Iâm still sad about avitus rix and hope heâs having a good day
- do you think ryder ever asks sam to read something to him âaloudâ in his head if heâs anxious and canât sleep. or just to talk at him about something boring until he nods off. again the possibilities inherent in the concept!!! he has someone whoâs closer to him than any other person could be, whatâs that like?Â
- *me sticking to my sidewinder pistol the whole playthrough even though itâs laughably inefficient* I just wanna feel like a cowboy bioware please work with me here
- the male ryder voice actor has such amazing comedic timing, thereâs a lot of reaction stuff out in the field he absolutely nails. I enjoy the female voice too and I like how much emotion she manages to convey towards the end of the game especially, but thereâs a casual comedy in male ryderâs voice that canât be beat. (well, itâs not hawke levels, but then nothing ever is, thatâs too much to ask)
- I love vorn and kesh so much. nerd krogans unite & make out
- I still want to sit peebee down and have a long serious talk with her about emotional abuse, maybe give her a hug :( fuck kalindaÂ
- this game does not get enough credit for how stunningly beautiful it is, it all got buried under criticism about the animations and itâs a fucking shame. the last few vaults you go through are just mindboggling in scale and visual uh striking-ness. it makes me so sad to think there wonât be any more of it D:Â
- I really like this mainly casual + logical dialogue options ryder Iâve found; it makes him sound like a younger and more irreverent version of his father, but also softer and less closed off and much more willing to show affection for his family especially.Â
- i wonder if different peopleâs individual SAMs will take on a certain tone/unique pattern when theyâve coexisted long enough. have I mentioned. how much I want a sequel to this gameÂ
- one last reyes note because donât look at me okay -- I wonder how much weâre meant to read into âbeing honorable never got me anywhereâ. on the one hand Iâm fully prepared to believe heâs never even tried doing anything the honorable way in his entire life lol but on the other thereâs also some interesting potential in the interplay of that sentence and âto be someoneâ. (there seems to be a deep fear in him both of powerlessness and of being truly seen/recognized -- he equates secrecy with safety pretty explicitly -- which seems... telling? of what I donât know but telling all the same hahaha) like he might be saying heâs tried doing things the ârightâ way and it didnât work and the price was too high, so he just went for this instead with the ends low-key justifying the means. hmmm. :Ia (this is what happens when I get Attached to a character with like an hour of screentime my friends, and Iâm already primed to give my entire heart away at the sound of nicholas boultonâs voice)
#mass effect#mass effect andromeda#I'm sorry about this my brain just won't shut up about this suddenly so here we go#reyes vidal#meta

angouleme can have little a avuncular guidance. as a treat ... heres some semblance of a compilation of regis being a guardian to angouleme, things i think about . both funnie and sad moments included i think
angouleme sneaks out at night to get into trouble / does other questionable things around the palace nocturnally, regis always catches her and itâs always on accident since they just have very similar time schedules. angouleme stares at him intensely in âoh fuck i just got caughtâ like O_O for a good 30 seconds EVERY time this happens but regis is just like :| and shrugs saying âi didnât see anything, iâm a human, i canât see at night or whateverâ and walks off. also the next morning geralt always questions him as to what angouleme was doing, if he saw her when he was coming home, and regis always denies knowledge or says smth along the lines of âiâm not a narc, geralt :/â
angouleme yelling/losing her shit/saying wildly inappropriate things ... regis produces a ye olde granola bar from his bag and gives it to her and she quiets down immediately and is like :) content eating the granola bar. you can also substitute the granola bar with a bag of baby carrots.
similarly angouleme saying crazy shit and geralt telling her to be quiet and asking regis to recount this instead and regis says something incredibly similar/the exact same
that one time that milva was teaching angouleme to shoot and angouleme clear missed the target and got regis instead and actually for the first time was incredibly upset and regretful and guilty that she had inflicted pain and potentially death upon someone and was very worried and apologetic and ashamed ... but also when regis inevitably just plucks out the arrow and hands it back to her and says âoh i think this is yoursâ angouleme is like wait so he litcherally cant be killed... this is epic
basically angouleme whoâs been abandoned having an immortal protector and mentor. peace
as i said in the tags of this post here: regis comes of as so peaceful as an individual that at first angouleme resents him a little, because she associates peace with arrogance... like, oh youre content with your life and dont hate yourself? so you think youre better than me? fucker. and sheâs so used to asshole men being creeps in her life that this company still seems really bizarre in the regard that none of these men are dangerous. but then she learns about what ... who ... regis was in the past and she realizes that theyâre similar, and then does the math and realizes that maybe one day sheâll also find this inner peace and can stop hating herself so much for the things sheâs done and the things that have happened to her. angouleme not feeling as though she's so alone and such a fuckup that only she could ever get into such a mess like this... i feel like she has an unhealthy amount of survivorâs guilt, as in she blames herself for not dying while everyone else in her band did, and she also feels like what the world has given her she deserved because she was a fundamentally bad person from birth bc of her status, and that she will be stuck in this violent hellscape of a life forever and thats just how it is and she has to continue violence... but i think when she meets regis (and also milva) she realizes that violence does not need to be a cycle and change is possible.
also in the tags of that post: i think... regis developing more understanding/empathy and putting ethical philosophy into actual practice where it actually has stakes (haha haha haha stakes haha haha haha haha haha). i think in the hansa he learns what humanity actually means
also bc vampires just... do not parent, itâs not in their culture to, regis learning what guardianship actually means and growing into this position where he protects this child and begins to understand humanity on this deeper level of the feeling of protecting a child, because thatâs very human, valuing and protecting the progenity for a new generation is incredibly human
also geralt arguing with regis that âhumans donât regrow their headsâ so he canât just be supporting her doing all sorts of dumb shit just bc he did it and he turned out alright... they kind of have to argue on how to parent iâm saying bc again vampire parenting is not much parenting at all. just let them go wild whatâs the worst that could happen... theyâll learn sort of thing. so regis has to confront the idea of human fragility and mortality
i think regis also learns from angouleme in that itâs very easy to hate and loathe your past self and curse your past self, asking âwhat could i have possibly been thinking, what an idiotic thing to do...â when your past self was not actually devoid of any redeemable qualities and was actually just misguided and without hope... regis condemns his past self quite harshly but because he would never admonish angouleme in such a way i think he realizes that the self-loathing is excessive and unproductive and potentially harmful
i said this in a post already, but geralt is overflowing with fatherly vibes and milva is also stern so i think there is a lot of value in regis to angouleme , in that she can tell him practically anything and he wonât get on her case for it . she finds this kind of amnesty in him whereas with the other members of the hansa theyâd freak and start asking her all these questions. regis is just like âhm okâ and maybe discusses a little but doesnât give her shit for it. this allows angouleme to confide a lot of stuff that she wouldnât normally feel safe to tell someone else, and also probably gets her out of a lot of trouble bc someone (a very powerful someone) will know where she is and what sheâs doing... so if she gets into trouble, she has a lifeline
this also means she can tell him a lot of funnie stories that she doesnât have to stop herself with because âwas gonna say smth funny and then remembered it involved murder.â also regis has like a thousand stories too obviously so he counters her wild tales with smth even crazier and then theyâll try to compete for a bit like âwell ONE TIME i...â but angouleme actually always wins and neither knows how she does
surgery lessons, or basically regis was sewing someone up and angouleme invaded the scene going âcan i watch can i watchâ
also alchemy lessons, which turns into basically âso thatâs how you make fisstech... interestingâ
i think also in these mentorships regis quizzes her lightly like âand what reactions does this species of plant produce in the human body...?â and angouleme says the right answer, âoh they drop deadâ and regis is like âvery good!â and angouleme kind of goes insane with happiness a little at being called âgoodâ / being praised by a parental figure for maybe like one of the first times in her life. similarly, i think regis would attest to angoulemeâs character at the breakfast table in discussions, and say things like âwell our angouleme is very smartâ and sheâd be like >:3!!!
as in canon, adopting each otherâs speech mannerisms... not just regis adopting angoulemeâs unique phrases, but i would also like to think abt angouleme saying smth pseudo-philosophical to throw someone off of her tracks... like âso, i owe you money... but what is the concept of debt and ownership, anyways? isnât it all just a construct by society? by humanity?â and then she bolts and evades her creditors
regis trying to teach angouleme stuff and then being like âoh wait i forgot you canât fly, hmm... â âoh wait i forgot you canât hypnotize people, hmm....... that complicates things...â ... jokes on regis though bc apparently angouleme can scale buildings and talk her way out of a lot of situations, so thatâs almost as good as flight and hypnosis
im trying to not be sad rn but i think regis would be a very good person to cry on. like his cloak is very soft. and he smells like herbs. so there you go. but i think also angouleme having a breakdown would be cathartic for both of them because angouleme realizes that sheâs being vulnerable around an adult and she isnât afraid of them and regis realizes that he has a responsibility to not treat physical wounds, but rather to treat emotional ones and thatâs infinitely more difficult
i think angouleme would have breakdowns to regis about: her family/her mother, geralt taking her into the hansa but she feels like he probably just sees her as a replacement daughter, i think also she gets into too much trouble one night and regis has to get her out of trouble and she kind of just breaks down because her life is crazy and has always been crazy and thereâs no way out because this is all she has
i think angouleme also gets pretty upset at seeing children/teens with âperfect lives,â like she just gets crazy bitter about it... and thereâs no shortage of nobility around the palace, so sheâs constantly reminded of her background. i think regisâs not-being-a-human-isms and philosophy that stems from an immortal perspective that all humans are equal in life and death can help with this. but also he kind of has to learn that you canât just talk about smth abt society or the past that is fucked up and solve it by having had said it... it will always remain an issue...
i also think that regis has his ravens scout around for angoulemeâs lost pendant with a sea-cat on it, but when she gets it back she gets mad and says that she doesnât want it because she doesnât want to be reminded of her mother, regis is like âokâ but angouleme is still mad, she realizes sheâs mad because she doesn;t think that regis realizes that heâs actually become more of a guardian to her than her biological mother was, and tries to provoke him but regis is unprovokable ofc so heâs like hm explain that and angouleme just spills her emotions
to bring this back to happy i think they could also prank geralt pretty hard. and or eavesdrop. plus there will be times like where angouleme is waiting by a door trying to listen in and straining and regis stands like 3 feet from the door and hears everything perfectly, just recites it all aloud and sheâs like oh this is so much easier.Â
also once angouleme was eavesdropping on geralt and dandelion arguing and regis approached and was like âangouleme :/â and angouleme was like >:/ âget out of here iâm tryna eavesdropâ and regis was like âthereâs a more professional way to do thisâ and disappears through the door, angouleme is like âshowoff!â ... geralt smells sage and throws a moon dust bomb at him and regis coughs up silver shards for the rest of the day. also when angouleme hears the explosion she jumps in, so this was a failed attempt all around
