Last time I was out grocery shopping, I discovered something brand new: a bao bun. But don't be fooled; it's not just an ordinary bao. It's pizza! The entire appearance feels like an actual bao while staying true to real Chinese source materials. Now of course, you're thinking, "Hey. That ain't pizza. It's just a bao bun. How can you tell if a bao bun is actually pizza?"
The answer is to take one bite off and it's the best thing no one's thought of. It's got pepperoni, marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese jammed inside with a delightful trip to a nearby pizzeria. Putting it in the microwave is just 90 seconds, though I did hear it acts as a certain potsticker. I've yet to give the latter a shot since it is highly recommended.
Oh, and as for the pizza bao? It's Baozza! Pepperoni. Find your nearest grocery stockist and enjoy it!

Recently @knottahooker linked me to a new freezer snack, a steamed bun filled with pizza filling called a Baozza. They’re a little hard to find around here, so I resolved to make my own.
They’re not pretty, but for my second time ever making steamed buns and realistically my first successful time ever, they came out well! I steamed them in the Instant Pot, putting the basket on a trivet above about a cup of water and running the pot’s “sautee” function for 15 minutes. The stuffing is shredded mozzarella, chopped up turkey pepperoni, and chopped roasted oyster mushrooms, mixed with just enough pizza sauce to hold together. Good stuff, but I’ll use less pepperoni next time, or possibly fry it first to get a bit of crisp.
[ID: Two images; top image shows a green steamer basket filled with small steamed buns, pinched shut inexpertly at the top, some with pizza sauce visible at the seam. Bottom, a close-up of one of the buns, cut in half to show the filling, which consists of sauce, a hint of cheese, and little squares of chopped pepperoni.]

Forgotten in the freezer. Cheesy Spinach Baozza — Spinach, mozzarella, cream cheese, and sautéed garlic stuffed inside a soft bun of doughy goodness.

just ate this stuff called “baozza” that I found in the freezer section that is pizza-stuffed bao buns and they were both filling and kinda sweet. excellent. I would get them again but I wouldn’t do it too often bc I think they were a little pricey.

And that is a wrap, #626nightmarket Arcadia 2022! (We uh... didn't actually get any wraps lol.) • It's always a fun time. We've been going since 2013, going back to favorites and discovering new ones. I'm happy to see this food festival expanding to more dates and places. • I was so happy to see the @indomieus booth back in the lineup. We were able to restock our yearly supply of the best instant noodles ever! We've explored almost all of @egghaustedla's menu and yet, we've never had the same design twice. Yay! We found a new go-to fave in @baozza. Those fried pizza baos are THE BOMB. The Brother scratched his sisig craving at @cuizinalb. After skipping a few years, I tried the #ramenburger again. And finally, an actual #matchablossom drink from @uncleteacafe. 🍵🌸 • See you next year, @626nightmarket! . . . . #foodie #foodstagram #foodfestival #egghausted #tamagoyaki #uncletea #baozza #sisig #bao #foodporn #nightmarket #food #yummy #sk8 #sk8theinfinity #kojironanjo #kaorusakurayashiki (at 626 Night Market) https://www.instagram.com/p/CiJ_fECv3f7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Baozza, A Fusion of East And West - Two-good To Be True?
The Baozza, A Fusion of East And West – Two-good To Be True?
In my opinion, nothing good can come from messing with a good thing, but messing with two good things? That’s an entirely different story. However, that’s exactly what the Chinese are going to experience thanks to Alex Cree’s epiphany to combine baozi, a Chinese steamed bun, and pizza (we all know what that is) and turn it into baozza.
The boazza would essentially consist of a baozi, but stuffed…

I have found my ultimate work snack
Baozzas aka bao pizzas
Steamed buns filled with different pizza toppings (I found them in the frozen aisle!)
Reasons it’s the best for work:
1. Microwave is the preferred cooking method. Microwave cooks the baozzas the perfect way because they’re meant to be steamed, so I don’t have to heat something that would be better in the oven
2. So quick!!! It only takes a minute per bun!!!!
3. Yummy! Unlike a lot of frozen foods I have no beef with this one. It tastes good :)
I can have something hot and yummy at work now that doesn’t make me wish I had an oven or stovetop or takeout haha. So nice for when I forget or don’t feel like taking my lunch. I guess I should look into more steamed buns for lunch :D

I'm very proud of myself. Emptied the dish drainer then washed all my dishes other than the cookie sheet which never gets washed just relined and the pan i used to make this. Baozza are definitely an abomination but tasty and only take 5 minutes. I definitely prefer the other kind but the pepperoni are pretty good.
