Dani's Tribe Dani's tribe man poses for a portrait in full decorative attire including boar tusks in his nose and a flamboyant headdress. Their mostly naked bodies glistening with pig fat used for warmth and styling hair. Using the fat of pigs, they fashion their hair into a variety of styles, many resembling cornrows, dreadlocks and twists. Dani tribe is the most isolated tribe in Indonesia. People of Baliem Valley were discovered accidentally, by American zoologist and philanthropist Richard Archbold, while on a zoological expedition to New Guinea in 1938. At that time, the Dani were living as though in the Stone Age and many of them still practiced cannibalism. Back then, the Dani, the largest ethnic group in Irian Jaya, lived in circular thatched huts and bathed in the river. Dani men wore only penis gourds (koteka). Kopi Bailem Arabica dan Baliem Blue Coffee Nama Kopi Baliem terkait dengan nama Koperasi Baliem Arabica, yaitu sebuah Koperasi yang ddidirikan oleh para petani kopi yang berada di sepanjang Kali Baliem, tembus kabupaten, tanpa membedakan wilayah administrasi pemerintahan yang dipetak baru-baru saja. Nama Baliem tidak dibatasi oleh wilayah adminstrasi pemerintahan, karena ia mengikuti jalur perjalanan Sungai Bailem. Koperasi Bailem Arabica yang didirikan tahun 2007 telah memproduksi Kopi Wamena sejak tahun 2009, dan kini dipasarkan di Jayapura dan wilayah Baliem dengan nama "Baliem Blue Coffee", yaitu kopi kedua atau ketiga yang telah dijuluki sebagai "blue" setelah Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee, karena bibit dan varietas kopi yang ada di sepanjang Sungai Baliem ialah jenis yang ada di Jamaica sana. Daar zijn wij teg’n

Naast ‘echte’ podcasts kun je op iTunes, Overcast, Stitcher - of wat je ook gebruikt, ook (oude) radioshows terugluisteren. Zelf ben ik sinds twee weken geobsedeerd door het Radioarchief van de VPRO. Series uit de jaren zestig over ‘homofilie’,  F. Springer die terug gaat naar de Baliemvallei, de oprichting en ondergang van kranten als Het Vrije Volk en De Waarheid, interviews met inmiddels dode schrijvers, de Watersnoodramp, de dagen waarin de Duitsers Nederland bezetten: series die gemaakt zijn in de tijd dat internet nog niet bestond, zijn hier online te vinden. 

Mijn lievelings-ontdekking tot nu toe is een vierdelige serie uit ‘Het Spoor Terug’ (OVT) over de Boerenpartij. Niet alleen omdat dit het verhaal is van de eerste rechts-populistische protestpartij in Nederland, maar ook vanwege de soms heerlijke knulligheid. Let op het lied ‘Ik blijf toch altijd een boertje,’ gezongen door Boer Koekoek himself, en de VVD-er die een Eerste Kamerlid van de Boerenpartij ‘knock-out’ sloeg (met de eerste k uitgesproken): ‘zo op zijn rechteroog, tja. Soms moet je doen wat je moet doen.’

Seeing all those Papuan tribes putting an efforts - some of them walked for many days to get to the venue from their villages, some of then came by provided big truck. They all came with their costumes and make up in the original way according to their tribe's and performed the mock war. This is Noken~ Noken is a multifunctional knotted or woven bag, native to the Papua. Noken's distinctive usage, which is hung from the head, are traditionally used to carry various goods, and also children. In 2012, noken is listed in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists as a cultural heritage. Women carrying noken are still a common sight in Wamena, West Papua.
