I got hit by the biggest nostalgia train. I love Battle brawlers and would watch it with my friends after finishing my homework

I still remember Masquarade’s plot twist, that was the best mind blown of my childhood. I wish I could experience the series all over again without any knowledge of it.

Masquerade and Alice are still my favorite characters of the show, I hated how they were sidelined after New vestroria.

I realized lately that Masquerade/Alice twist had bigger impact than we might know.Even people who never watched the show knows about that.It also generates most of the viral posts about Bakugan. So whenever I say that Masquerade/Alice is the face of Bakugan it's not because I'm being biased.

I've always liked the show since it got aired for the first time.Though there were also some things I wasn't content with, i always admit they've really done well with this twist and it was the reason i became a fan.

In NV i still hate how Brawlers were acting like Alice never existed to begin with(always doing or celebrating something as a "team" and shit) . I was also confused because they managed to snuck Julie in (because she also doesn't live in Japan) but didn't even bother to do something with Alice.

If we go back to BB days,she was still kind of the odd duck of the team. I could never find a single merch that included her.It was mostly boys (rarely with Masquerade) and if you were lucky enough to find a "whole" team one it would be 5 of them without Alice.

My most logical explanation would be they just didn't know what to do with her.She's pretty,smart and powerful so even if they made her stay I'm guessing her fate at best would be just like Shun's (another favorite of mine that didn't reach his full potential and was pushed away) but since she's a female they didn't even bother keeping her.They probably thought "if we prentend she doesn't exist they will eventually forget about her" or something 🫠

On a positive note, I think she was one of the best written characters in NV.I don't understand why they suddenly made her gullible(because she was innocent but never was gullible) or why they couldn't give her one victory at least, still I like how she was more confident,sassy and stood her ground.Her most Masquerade traits but now she's showing them as Alice.I guess it was a way to tell us she truly is healing and becoming one with herself again.

I've been shifting since 2020 shifttok just about, like a little before the Dracotok boom (like a lil') and the subsequent apocalypse that happened after "Just kidding on the rights" Rowling's transphobia was coming out.

Yeah so fun fact I was NEARLY a Draco girly, I feel like the fallout was divine intervention stopping me at JUST the right time but that's besides the point, the point was to give you a time frame for long I've been shifting.

I'm making this blog with people in my age group in mind, I'm not gonna be posting smut or porn on this blog (and no blog's that do that are not the devil or something that's not the point) but I'm not really gonna be censoring myself either? I like hello kitty (The best character is my melo, DUH!), Bratz, Barbie, I really liked Rainbow high but they were like... doing a lot at once for me.

My favorite two dress up games are Life Makeover (Okay it's actually number 1) and Suit U (I love it but it is so god damn uniquely greedy) Everskies is fun too but I find it hard to find clothes you REALLY want and it can get samey, for me at least.

the first thing i remember writing for was fuckn like... an mmo game. i think it was the Sacred one when that was around... i think??

but that was purely written in random linebook when i was a child and didn't understand the concept of fanfiction yet

the first thing i POSTED anywhere was probably bakugan or homestuck. I genuinely can't recall exact order, but I do know for certain fact that I worked on this one bakugan fic for far FAR too long during highschool recess and lunch breaks

In terms of published, definitely AWF, my beloved domestic furry au that is definitely not semi-dead-in-the-water-it's-fine ignore my tears

unpublished, there's certainly a few that I'm having a very pleasant and fun time with writing, even if the going is very slow.

If you were forced to write only one genre for the rest of your life (like James Patterson lol) what would you want it to be?

Probably Fantasy or Mythology, lot of wiggle-room within that, and I tend to lean more fantastical in my worlds and such anyhow.

i have no one to share bakugan thoughts and it involved shun so immediately thought if this acct. anyway, i was doing my yearly bakugan rewatch, 1st time watching the uncut dub and im on the season 1 finale. you know how everyones bakugan has to go back to vestroia bc of drago, and like everyone (julie, marucho, runo and dan) is crying saying bye to them?. well in the uncut version theres shun and alice fcrying saying goodbye to their bakugan and shuns bawling and then skyress comforts him and pecks/kisses him. it was literally the cutest thing i started crying🥺

Its surprising that given his popularity, the show didn't even try to adapt leonidas into the show.

Like if I'm getting my facts right here the game is supposed to take place before the doom dimension arc but also after it aswell? I'm just losing it. Like imagine, "oh the worlds gonna be destroyed but ULTIMATE BATTLERS TOURNAMENT"

Like don't get me wrong, it gives a reason on why so many brawlers were there during the final battle but at the same time, Drago not being ultimate dragonoid makes my brain go brrr.

Technically speaking, if we’re going by the game timeline... the tournaments before UBT have to have happened before the Doom arc, but the UBT must happen before Drago can evolve a second time. This also means that the Pyrus tournament must happen before Delta Dragonoid exists. This means there’s a massive chunk of time where nothing happens.

And Masquerade keeps Marduk from doing anything to the player until the UBT. This means the tournament is required to even have the chance of stopping Vladitor, who is a threat, even if he can’t do anything outside the tournament, or there’ll be consequences.

If Leonidas did appear in the anime, I’d probably have him appear after BB, because I’m pretty sure the game came out after that season, not during (not during the original broadcast time. Reruns so you could catch up aren’t counted in this case), so he’d be a NV bakugan. That would make the whole of NV2 be a little more interesting, because if Leonidas never left the Doom, then the only bakugan he ever knew would be the Legendary Soldiers.

Who died.

This essentially means that Leonidas would be desolately lonely, unless he leaves. And, if the attribute energies worked that way, he could always use them as a beacon to find the soldiers, and take out his anger on them for leaving him in the dust. Only to find that they didn’t do that on purpose.

They’re dead. They’ve been replaced. They had to be, or vestroia would be vestal’s again.

Like... nothing goes right for Leonidas, even after evolution. He’s trusted by nobody but his partnered brawler, and he’s otherwise the loneliest being in existence.

But. But, but, but, but... if Leonidas was introduced in BB, then we’d have the fun of a “canon” version of first VG protag/Rikku, and most people don’t exactly like that. Otherwise, that means there are multiple Leonidas. Multiple instances of the dead wanting to slaughter everything in sight, just to have the chance of feeling better.

Leonidas is either, however you’d want to intergrate him in;

lonely.

has a canonical partner (who’d probably have to have a different story to go with it. Preferably including being tricked by Masquerade, to Leonidas’ advantage, as Leonidas probably can fly back through the portals to the Doom caused by the doom cards, since he can escape at will.)

isn’t a unique bakugan as a result of his weird origins.

Choose your favourite, but I do like 1 for storyline purposes, 2 for lore mechanics, and 3 for the sheer power implications of bakugan (if they can collectively make multiple Leonidas while dead.)

Idk if you had already talk about this but i read your recent ask about the ship shurisu and I'm truly interested to read about the potential Shun and Alice had, individually and together, but with your POV

I've got so much to say about this topic that I don't know where to start.

To be honest, I  liked them both  the moment i first saw them but getting to know these characters what solidified my love .

For example Shun may seem like the classic silent guy at first glance but when you get to know him you will see that he's actually a heavily traumatized boy.Before his mother's death he still seemed to be a  "demure"  type, but you can also see  he was happy for doing what he likes with his friends.After his mother passed away, he holds onto the only thing his mother left for him, Skyress, because he doesn't know how to deal with it.And because of how broken he is, he  avoids bonding with people, which i belive, stems from his fear of losing them and going through the same feelings again.That's why he refused to be part of the team and even considered leaving almost half the season.S1 had done a  fairly good job with his characterization, you could see that he was trying his best to be as stoic as possible but people who knows him(Dan,Skyress,his mother) or someone who can observe people really well(Alice) could see through him  easily, afterall he was just a little boy.

If bakugan was targeted to an older audience and they gave importance to the plot , I believe we wouldn't get the Shun we had in NV and onwards. I get their biggest concern was to introduce more bakugans (=sell more toys) and to do that, they also had to introduce newer characters.Of course there's no problem with new characters but they just couldn't give them spotlight without butchering the older ones.Since the target audience is little boys,the girls got written off and Shun got to stay.But  because of the reasons i said above, it  costed him to his characterization being butchered, and he actually turned into  the silent guy arche type.He used to be the best brawler in the world , and the moment he gets dethroned by Masquerade it was easily acceptable, because he is also one of the best (well,imo the best)  brawlers ever existed. Of course, it would be no fun if he were to win all the time, and new characters need to shine as well, but BB Shun and NV onwards Shun  are like different brawlers. BB Bakugan was more of battle of wits; through Shun and Masquerade, Dan learned that power alone wasn't enough and he needed to know how to yield it.It was also no surprise that the best brawlers were also the best strategists. But after 1st season, gimmicks like Bakugan traps were a huge cross out on everything S1 standed for.So looking back at Shun,what happens to a character if you took away the area he shines the most?If we got to see his evolution both as a brawler&as a character,I believe he would contribute greatly to the show,even more than he did.

Ooh boy  it already got this long, and I didn't even get to mention Alice.I believe   just like Shun, Alice is also a MC worthy character. Of course whole "Masquerade" situation gives her some extra points.I am not a writer but i can only think of countless scenarios a writer could benefit from  a character with split personality; the deeds she's done unwillingly haunting her,and eventually facing herself and healing period.But if I had to talk about Bakugan only, my thoughts on her and Shun are similar since both of them were quite alike as brawlers.Alice got to short end of the stick in two matters though, for reasons:

1) She's a girl in a shounen anime (a genre which is very  rare for a woman to get to shine, or even be useful)

2)She would be  OP as a brawler, so including her would require more complex writing:

Their decision was to  conclude her character arc after  she became one with Masquerade.We know that she was already brilliant as a strategist  and now we see that she's far more confident as a brawler, so that would be basically Masquerade being back in  his original appearance and i don't think there's anything should be holding back her at that state.Even today most of people rightfully don't accept how she's lost in her NV battle, because of how great brawler Alice/Masquerade is and how it didn't make any sense plot wise.She's  imo even more MC worthy character now and still could grow as a character but as i said before,the creators were focused more on commercial success instead.

So long story short, Shun and Alice could've been doing much better if Bakugan didn't change so drastically (as in game logic) , because they would be needed more.And them being active would probably helped a lot to their team mates as well since they are both  supposedly the "demure" and "observant" members of the team which really helped in group dynamics, understanding what kind of rival they're against and how should they approach them.

If we were lucky enough and actually got to see them end up together, i  believe they would have a solid relationship. Their personalities are  compatible so they could  evolve into a really beautiful couple.Since we know Shun is a man of few words and bottles up his emotions most of the time, Alice would quickly become "that" person for him, the one  who  truly understands him the most. It's not even my hc, we already saw how she can see through him, but with them becoming a couple she would probably take that to another level and of course become the dearest person for him ever.Alice is also is healing from her past traumas, and being a loner just like Shun would make her understand him a lot more.But the difference is unlike Shun, she wants to bond with people more so being with her would change Shun on that matter .I can definitely see  him being a lot more comfortable with expressing himself.Since he's also an observant person, he also would be the same with Alice as she's with him,so he would try his best at supporting her at anything.

To sum it up, they are striking me as a kind of couple  who would be each other's rock and kind of couple who would bring the best in each other. Maybe that's why i always dreamed of them being MCs of their own show with a story about them.And I know that would be fire since they have some of the best fics of their own out there.
