Let's call her Helen today, it's on brand.

One time in high school, Helen sent me a card out of nowhere, and it said that today was a special day for her because it was the day on which I was conceived. That day was last week. She somehow left me a message on said day through a blocked number. Normally I could brush it off but the date made me really uncomfortable

Context: I am a survivor of neglect, exclusively via Helen. She and my dad divorced when I was too little to remember it. Dad and stepmom have been involved since I was 4. Helen moved out of state when I was around 12. I have not contacted her, on advice from my then-therapist, since my first semester of college, 13 years ago.

Talked about it in therapy. Therapist dug up a memory I'd forgotten and I still kind of feel like garbage. Before he did that, though, he 1. Asked if I wanted an RO, because the fact that I see him for this carries a ton of weight (I said we can't, we don't have her address) and 2. Said he's going to call her by name as well because he can't defend calling her a mother. Based

My dad texts last night because she apparently sent a letter to his place. He opened it for me because he thought someone might have passed and he wanted to give me the linear message amid all the nonsense... But there was only nonsense, and he was "thoroughly creeped out". He gave me her address for the asking, though; I told him why I needed it and he agreed.

So I think my actual parents are starting to finally understand what I dealt with when they weren't there: that's what Helen is like in a vacuum. Imagine her with literally any stimulus

I'm probably going to send them the "missing missing reasons" writeup, I think it'll hit home
