Pete Cornish - Judas Priest pedalboards
Pete Cornish: "You are in luck:-)) I found the full details of Glen Tipton's and Kenny Downing's effects boards. I made these in October 1980 so they would have been used on the 1982 recording of "Screaming For Vengeance". I made new remote controlled racks in 1984 so the boards would definitely have been used before that date. The effects in the boards are as follows: KK Downing S/N 054: PC Input isolator>TB-83>NG-2>ST-2>MXR Phase 100>PC Modified Cry Baby>Echoplex EP3 Send/Return>NB-2 (Linear Boost)>Mute>Four isolated outputs to 50W Marshall heads. Glen Tipton S/N 056: PC Input Isolator>TB-83>SS-2>NG-2>ST-2>MXR Phase 100>MXRFlanger>MXR Analogue Delay>Echoplex EP3 Send/Return>MXR 10 Band EQ>NB-2 (Linear Boost)>Mute>Four isolated outputs to 50W Marshall heads>D.I. to PA. As you can see, it is not as simple as just one of my effects units as combinations would have been used. Hope the info is of interest."

The Walking Dead Game What Ifs: What if Kenny, Clementine and AJ ended up in Alexandria?

What if Kenny, Clementine and AJ ended up in Alexandria? Submitted by Soundwavefan113 on AO3
“You okay, Clem?” Kenny’s voice jerked Clementine from her thoughts.
“Yeah, I’m okay.” The thirteen-year-old looked in the mirror at AJ. They’d almost lost the car while Kenny had been teaching her how to drive, she supposed she should be glad they missed the tree and took out a rather large Walker.
“You sure?” Kenny glanced at her, “Your still upset about almost hittin’ the tree, aren't you?”
Clementine tried to shrug it off, “It’s nothing.”
“Clem,” Sighed Kenny, “You can’t focus on any possible mistake that may have happened, it’ll distract you—holy fucking shit!”
Kenny veered out of the way of a guy in a motorcycle, “What the hell was that?”
Clementine twisted in her seat, as the motorcycle rider stopped, “What?”
Kenny scowled as the man reached them, he looked at them through the window, before knocking on the glass. Kenny glared at the man, “What?”
“Y’all alright?” The man’s voice was gruff, tilting his head to keep his hair out of his eyes.
“Er, yeah.” Kenny glanced at Clementine, “We’re fine.”
“Right,” the man nodded, “you have to turn around.”
“What?” Growled Kenny, his irritation growing.
“We’re diverting a massive herd, your gonna drive into it.”
Kenny blinked up at the man, “…Right…er, thanks for the head up.”
The guy nodded and walked back to his bike, as Kenny turned the car around. They were trailing behind the guy, when the first few Walkers appeared. They followed the man for a while, until they came to a stop near an abandoned gas station.
“Thanks for the heads up.” Said Kenny getting out of the car, “You gonna be okay?”
The man went to answer, when he spotted Clementine pick up AJ, “You’ve got a kid?”
Kenny turned and spotted Clementine and AJ, “Yeah…what of it?”
The man looked at them, “We got a community, somewhere you can wait out the herd before ya move on.”
Kenny opened his mouth to refuse, but after glancing at Clementine, he nodded.
P
Carl paused, seeing Daryl lead a car into Alexandria. He heard Carol walk up next to him and sigh. They’d had a herd go through them a month earlier, Carl absently rubbed at the gauze covering his missing eye.
“This isn’t good.” Muttered Carol, crossing her arms.
“Maybe they’re just travellers.” Said Carl, as a one-eyed bearded man stepped out of the car, followed by a girl around his age.
“But they could be thieves.” Stated Carol, as the girl opened one of the back doors and pulled out a toddler, “Or kidnappers.”
Carl frowned at her, as Daryl walked over to Rick, “I’m gonna talk to them.”
“Don’t.” Said Carol, as Carl walked over to the car.
“What d’you make of this place, Clem?” Carl heard the man ask.
“High walls, solar panels,” The girl, Clem looked around, “they’ve got kids. Seems safe.”
“So?” The man looked at Clem.
“See if they’re willing to trade something for gas, then head back out when the herd’s passed.” Said Clem, as the toddler fussed, “Hey, hey, don’t cry, Goofball.”
The toddler whined, before he abruptly threw up on her.
“Oh.” Clem stiffened slightly, “Wonderful.”
Carl stopped and looked at them.
“I’ll…” Clem looked at ‘Goofball’, “see if they’re willing to give us some food for AJ, something that hasn’t expired.”
“You can change as well, if you want.” Carl spoke without thinking, making the girl and man turn and look at him, “Er…hi?”
“Hey.” Clem waved, before looking down at her front, “…and it’s alright, I’ve had worse on my front.”
Carl blinked, looking between them, “Do… do you have a change of clothes?”
Clem and the man looked at each other.
“Er… no.” Clem sounded confused, “We try to keep moving.”
Carl nodded, “I’m… I’m going to see if we have any to spare.”
P
Clementine adjusted the flannel shirt she’d been given, along with the boots, jeans and underwear. A woman with short white hair, Carol, had let them use her shower. Clementine grabbed the red leather jacket she’d found a few months back, and her hat.
Rolling her shoulders, Clementine stepped out and winced at her dirty clothes. She hadn’t noticed how bad they smelt until now. Looking around the house, it almost felt like the world hadn’t ended. Sighing, Clementine made her way down the stairs, with Carol looking up when she heard Clementine walk over.
“Er… I… erm…” Clementine didn’t know what to say, when Carol taking the clothes from Clementine.
“Aren’t you going to wash that?” Carol looked at her hat.
Clementine adjusted it, “I… no, it’s… this is going to sound weird, but it’s got some of my… friend’s blood on it. It’s kina, the only thing I have left of them.”
Carol blinked, “Oh, care to tell me about this friend?”
Carol seemed like her mom, before her parents went to Savannah, so Clementine sat down across from Carol.
“His name was Lee,” Said Clementine, “He found me hiding in my treehouse when all this started, he looked after me during the first few months of the outbreak. I made the mistake of trusting the wrong person and it got Lee killed. The bloodstain on the brim, there,” Clementine pointed at a dark spot on the brim of the hat, “that’s Lee’s blood, I was nine and I had to put him down, all because I was an idiot.”
“You were a child.” Said Carol, “There are adults who’d make the same mistake.”
“I got two members of our group killed while I was with that stranger, then I got another killed because I was careless with my gun—” Clementine stiffened, “Shit, where’s my gun?!”
“It’s over there.” Carol pointing at a cabinet, where Clementine’s gun was sitting.
Clementine got up and quickly grabbed it, freezing slightly as she held it, “It… it’s been cleaned.”
“I thought you’d like a gun that would actually work, considering the amount of muck and grime on it.” Said Carol, getting a sigh from Clementine.
“We don’t have any bullets.” Shrugged Clementine, before looking at the couch, where AJ was sleeping, “Huh, I guess he was tired.”
“How old were you when you had him?” Asked Carol, crossing her arms.
“What?” Clementine frowned, “His parents died, I promised them I’d look after him. His dad was killed by some asshole and his mom died shortly after giving birth to him. Kenny and I have been looking after him ever since.”
“What’s Kenny to you?” Asked Carol, looking at Clementine.
“He’s… I guess he’s like my dad,” Shrugged Clementine, “I met him with Lee, I became friends with his son, his name was Kenny Jr, but we all called him Duck. I got separated from Kenny while I was with that stranger, I thought he was dead for a while, before I ran into him again. I’ve been with him ever since. He took over from Lee, after we found each other again.”
Carol seemed satisfied with Clementine’s answers, opting to watch AJ sleep.
P
Clementine spun in a circle as Carl showed her around, staring at the community, “This place is a fucking fortress.”
“Yeah, I think we all had that impression when we first arrived here.” Said Carl, as they approached a group of people their age.
“Who’s this?” Asked a brunette.
“This is Clementine,” Said Carl, “She and her… what is he?”
“Kenny?” Clementine looked at Carl, “Closest thing I have to a dad.”
“They were brought here by Daryl.” Said Carl, “Since the herds going to be a while, they’d going to wait it out.”
“Isn’t she the girl that can’t smell?” Asked a dark-haired boy.
“I can smell.” Responded Clementine, “We just walked through a bunch of Walkers before we found a car.”
Carl frowned, “There weren’t any coats in the car.”
“What?” Clementine looked at him.
“The coat with the Walker guts on it.” Clarified Carl, “There weren’t any in the car.”
“Why would I need a coat for that?” Asked Clementine, looking around them, “What?”
P
“They’d apply it to their clothes?” Asked Michonne, as Carl told them about Clementine.
“Yeah, it’s crazy.” Carl looked down, before frowning, “What’s Kenny like?”
“You mean aside from constantly swearing and being an asshole over the cars?” Asked Rick, “He hasn’t spoken much. But he’s mentioned some other communities.”
“Really?” Carl looked up, “Where?”
“He mentioned a place called Wellington and a group based in Richmond.” Said Rick, “He called the latter group a cult though.”
Across the settlement, Clementine rummaged around the trunk of her, and Kenny’s, car. Frowning, Clementine pulled out a machete and a large hunting knife. Humming to herself, she put the blades back, and looked in one of the bags.
“What’cha looking for Clem?” Clementine jumped and looked at Carol.
“They need to put a bell on you.” Clementine went back to the trunk, “Kenny and I haven’t gone through the trunk yet, since we were trying to find a quick way to escape some Walkers, look at this,” Clementine pulled a mace out of the bag, “Who the fuck carries this?!”
“A re-enactment society?” Suggested Carol, getting a huff from Clementine, “Have you and Kenny been travelling long?”
“Yeah, we were looking for a boat.” Clementine found a handle in the base of the trunk and pulled it open, “What the fuck?!”
Looking over Clementine’s shoulder, Carol saw a large cache of guns packed together.
“Ooh.” Clementine reached in and picked up a sawn-off shotgun, “Dibs.”
“Is it loaded?” Asked Carol, as Rick walked up to them.
“Is what loaded?” Asked Rick, before spotting the inside of the trunk, “What the hell?”
P
Clementine levelled her shotgun with a Walker’s head and obliterated its skull. Glancing around, she walked back towards Alexandria. Kenny, after some convincing, had agreed that they’d stay in Alexandria for a while longer. Especially since AJ was getting proper food and was around a couple of kids his own age. At the moment, Kenny was away from the community, along with Rick and ten others. Clementine had a bad feeling about their trip, but decided to ignore it, assuming it was nothing.
“You alright, Clem?” Smythe, one of the guards, greeting her when she walked through the gate made her jump.
“Yeah, just thinking.” Clementine looked down the street, frowning at the Walker she’d dealt with last night, “I thought Mike said he was going to move that.”
“Spencer told him to leave it there,” Said Smythe, “Said Rick will need to see it when he gets back.”
Clementine nodded, walking towards the house her, Kenny and AJ were given, getting accosted by Spencer.
“Where were you?” Clementine sighed and looked up at the man.
“I was trying to find where that Walker got in.” Clementine gestured to the corpse, “I couldn’t find a hole, so it could’ve just slipped past whoever was on guard.”
“No, it couldn’t.” Dismissed Spencer, frowning, “Where’d you learn to fight Walkers like that?”
“What?” Clementine frowned, “By kicking their knee?”
Spencer nodded.
“Someone I knew taught me.” Clementine shrugged, she didn’t think she could call Jane her friend, not after what she did, “Do you think they got Maggie to Hilltop?”
“Why else would they be taking so long?”
P
An RV trundled into Alexandria, Clementine spotted Glenn at the wheel. As the vehicle came to a stop, Michonne stepped out, followed by Sasha, Aaron and Carl. Frowning, Clementine got up and walked towards them.
“How’s Maggie doing?” Asked Clementine, as the woman in question stumbled out of the RV.
“Clem,” Glenn walked around the side of the RV, “something happened.”
Clementine recognised the tone, usually it was assigned to Kenny when he did something stupid, “Who’s Kenny punched now?”
“He…” Carl found himself unable to look at her, “We…”
Clementine looked over the group, she assumed Rick, Abraham, Daryl and Kenny were still in the RV, while Eugene and Rosita stepped out of the vehicle. Glancing around, and noticing that Enid was glaring at Carl, Clementine sighed.
“Okay.” Clementine tried to push past them, only for Glenn to grab her shoulder, “Look, whatever stupid thing Kenny’s done—”
“We ran into a group.” Interrupted Glenn, “They…”
“When you say ‘group’ do you mean like another community or a bunch of nutcases?” Asked Clementine, not liking the looks they were giving her.
“They call themselves the Saviors.” Continued Glenn, making Clementine freeze.
“What?”
“You know about them?” Asked Sasha, getting a nod from Clementine.
“Christa and I ran into them a few years ago,” Said Clementine, looking between them, “but they were in northern Georgia and Tennessee. Are… are you sure that’s what they called themselves?”
“Does…” Glenn swallowed, “Does the name Negan mean anything to you?”
Clementine sucked a breath in, “Shit.”
“They took Daryl and he…” Maggie’s voice was weak, “He killed Kenny.”
Clementine felt her throat constrict, shaking her head, “You’re lying.” Without waiting for a response, Clementine pushed her way onto the RV. Rick and Abraham looked at her, while Kenny’s lifeless, and headless, body lied on the floor between them.
P
Clementine stood near Negan, watching as he gutted Spencer. She didn’t react when Rosita tried to kill Negan, only for her to be knocked to the ground by one of his thugs. He demanded to know who made the bullet, before ordering the same thug to kill someone. Clementine didn’t know Denise very well, but she knew she didn’t deserve to die.
Seizing her chance, Clementine rushed at Negan, raising her knife to stab him. Negan got stabbed in the arm, which earned Clementine a backhand.
“Don’t you people lear—” Negan stopped abruptly, recognising Clementine, “Well, holy shit! I know you! You’re that little girl that stabbed me.”
Clementine glared up at him.
“I got a nasty scar on my back because of you.” Negan looked at the thug, “Gimme your machete.”
Clementine quickly scrambled to her feet, picking up her knife with her left hand. She went to stab him again, only for him to grab her left forearm and slam it on the pool table he and Spencer had been using.
“I think this is appropriate.” Grinned Negan, before bringing the machete down on Clementine’s left wrist.
Letting out a scream, Clementine tried to wrench her hand free, only for Negan to tighten his grip and add more force to his chopping. As soon as her left hand had been severed, he let her go and she stumbled back, holding the stump of her left arm close to her chest.
“You know what?” Negan looked around, “I think we’ve had enough killing for one day. Someone make sure she don’t bleed to death.”
P
“What were you thinking?” Asked Glenn, as he tended to her arm.
“He killed Kenny.” Said Clementine, “I got the drop on Negan before, I thought I could do it again.”
“Well,” Carl looked at her, “You didn’t.”
“Oh, gee Carl, why don’t you point out something else that’s obvious?”
“It was stupid.”
“Stop it!” Glenn raised his voice, “Arguing isn’t going to help any of us!”
“Where’s my hand?” Asked Clementine, looking at Glenn, “Where is it?”
“It should still be on the pool table.” Said Enid, making Clementine wrench her bandaged stump from Glenn’s grip and stalk outside.
A couple minutes later, Clementine returned with her dismembered hand and threw it at Carl.
“Okay!” Yelled Glenn, as he got up, “Both of you, homes, now!”
Carl and Clementine glared at each other, before Enid decided to guide Clementine back to her home.
P
Clementine looked down at the knife that’d been welded to a metal cast, as Rick fastened it to her arm.
“Daryl’s brother had something similar.” Said Rick, before looking around, “Why’d you try and take a stab at Negan?”
“I met someone like him before,” Said Clementine, “A guy called Carver. He’s the one that took Kenny’s eye. I thought, if I could, I dunno, injure him enough, I could trick the Saviors to fight amongst themselves.”
Rick sighed, before looking over at the dead Scavengers. They’d tried to form an alliance with the other communities, he didn’t know what would’ve happened if The Kingdom and Hilltop hadn’t come through.
“Do you think Jadis is still alive?” Asked Clementine, staring down at her shotgun.
“I don’t know.” Confessed Rick, “Maybe.”
“I mean, I hit her in the gut and blew the head off that other one.” Continued Clementine, “Thinking on it, I could’ve taken Negan out.”
Rick nodded, before looking around, “How many?”
Clementine shrugged, “I heard Glenn and Abraham were still counting. How’s Michonne?”
Rick sighed, “Carl hasn’t left her. We’re hoping she’ll pull through.”
P
“Where’re you going?” Asked AJ, making Clementine jump.
“I’m watching Carl’s back, I’ll be back soon.” Said Clementine, before slipping out of Alexandria. She followed Carl, before coming to a stop as he started talking to a man.
“So,” Said Clementine, getting Carl and the man’s attention, “Who’s the boyfriend?”
P
“The sewers are practically deserted.” Said Carl, as he led Siddiq towards the gap, “Maggie and Aaron came through here a while ago and Clementine found it after a Walker got in.”
“Really?” Asked Siddiq, looking back at Clementine.
“The same day I heard that…” Clementine trailed off, unsure on what to call Kenny, before continuing, “my dad had been killed.”
“I’m sorry.” Apologised Siddiq, “I didn’t know.”
“Don’t worry.” Clementine wave him off, “Besides, you’re not the one that killed him.”
Siddiq nodded, before Clementine looked at Carl, “So, how do you tell your dad?”
“About what?” Asked Carl, shifting, uncomfortably.
“About how you almost got bitten, you’re welcome, by the way, and how you, alone, managed to sneak a stranger into the community, while he and the others were away fighting.” Said Clementine, folding her arms, fully intent on Carl being the only one in trouble, before noticing her missing knife, “Shit.”
“How’re you going to explain your knife going missing?” Asked Carl, giving Clementine a defiant look.
“I hate you.”
P
Clementine limped around the sewers, trying to avoid stepping on anyone. Judith and AJ were with Carl, who was having shrapnel removed from his arm by Siddiq, it turned out he was a doctor. Negan had come by and bombed Alexandria, they lost some people, but the majority had managed to retreat into the sewers. Both Clementine and Carl had been knocked down from the wall by the Saviors bombs, Clementine had twisted her leg, when she landed, but her injuries weren’t too major.
“Clementine?” Rick’s voice got her attention.
“Rick.” Clementine twisted, “Thank fuck. What happened?”
“Gregory sold us out.” Said Rick, “But things went to plan, but they bounced back faster than we expected. The others are at Hilltop, I think. Where’s Carl?”
“He’s getting bits of grenade removed from his arm.” Clemetine pointed in Carl’s direction, “Er, Rick, there’s something you should know. Carl… brought a guy back here. A doctor.”
Rick paused, but nodded, before he and Michonne walked past her.
P
Clementine let out a low whistle, looking around Hilltop, “Nice.”
“Glad you think so.” Said Glenn, limping towards them, “Your new doctor’s looking at the injured and we’ve got some Saviors tied up by the fence. That includes Gregory, by the way.”
“Can I take ‘Kenny’ to him?” Asked Clementine, looking at Rick, grabbing her shotgun.
“No.” Rick shook his head, “Go help Siddiq.”
Clementine glared after Rick, before following his orders. Enid smiled at her, before she helped a patient sit up.
“Clem, can you get some more water, please?” Asked Siddiq, “We’re running a bit low.”
Clementine nodded, grabbing a bucket and heading outside. She nearly bumped into Carl, who was carrying bandages, but managed to avoid falling.
“The Scavengers are all dead,” Clementine heard Rick talking to the others as she filled up the bucket, “Jadis apparently turned after Clementine took ‘Kenny’ to her gut, and the ones that came with me to attack the Saviors were massacred on Negan’s orders.”
“All of them?” Asked Glenn, “Since when has Negan gone all scorched earth?”
“The people at Oceanside said they experienced something similar,” Jesus spoke up, “the Saviors killed every male above the age of ten, maybe they went pulled the same trick.”
Clementine finished filling up the bucket and made her way back inside, she still had a job to do.
P
“So,” Clementine looked at Carl, “troubles in paradise?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Asked Carl, scowling at the gun he was cleaning.
“You and your girlfriend seem to be avoiding each other.” Said Clementine, looking over the Militia. There’d been an attack by the Saviors, with their weapons covered in Walker blood, she’d received a tainted crossbow bolt to her left ankle. She was lucky, Glenn had spotted that the bolt was covered in Walker blood, the majority of the wounded were hit on their torso, but those who, like Clementine, were hit on their arms and legs, were able to get the infected limbs amputated.
She heard Rick mention that Dwight had slipped them some more intel, including how Father Gabriel was being held prisoner. Clementine looked around for her crutches
“We broke up.”
Clementine’s head snapped back to look at Carl, “What? Why?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
P
The war was over. Eugene, one of theirs that had defected to the Saviors, sabotaged the Savior’s bullets. Only Negan tried to fight, resulting in Rick slicing his throat open. Negan was taken into custody, Clementine watched impassively, as Maggie argued with Rick that the man should be killed.
“Clem,” Carl’s voice got her attention, “Are you alright?”
Clementine gave Carl a flat look, “I’m fine.”
Carl looked like he didn’t believe her, he glanced down at her leg, “Are you sure?”
The flat look turned into a glare, “Yes, I’m sure.” She looked over at where the community leaders were talking, “I’m just, trying to come to terms with all this being over.”
“Me too.” Said Carl, “Do you want something to drink?”
“I drank seven jars of moonshine when they cut my leg off, I think they’ll have a problem with it.” Answered Clementine, watching AJ toddle around with Judith, “I’ll be glad when they’d finished rebuilding.”
Carl nodded, before tentatively putting an arm around Clementine’s shoulders. Half-heartedly rolling her eyes, Clementine rested her head on Carl’s shoulder and let out a sigh.
“So…” Carl glanced at Clementine, “are you doing anything tonight?”
“We’re having a moment, don’t ruin it.”

Everetts After the End Chapter 1: You Agree With That?
Summary: As Lee sits in the back of a police car, his thoughts drift to his family. Many miles away, the remaining members of the Everett family are boarding up their beloved drugstore after reports of civil unrest in the area. What none of them know is just how dire this "civil unrest" truly is, becoming the event that will see them reunited and on the path to reconciliation after years of having grown apart. That is, assuming that they all can live long enough to do so.
Surprise! A whole new multi-chapter story for your enjoyment. This one has been in the planning stages for a very long time. While I haven't been feeling the best the past few days, me finally being done with work has given me the energy to finish this first chapter, so here it is!
Those who follow my What If series will immediately recognize that this is based off of one of those What Ifs. If you aren't familiar with the oneshot, don't worry, this story stands completely on its own, no need for homework.
Not sure yet how this will slot into my upload schedule, I just really wanted to get it out there. I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Some veterans' late noughts found them in the situations they regretted to miss in their careers. For instance, Tony Iommi called Glen Hughes to do a duet album. While they worked together before, they didn't collaborate for a long time, so Fused finds them together again and you regret they didn't have more chances to be on the same record. True, Fused does make up for the lost opportunities, because both of them sound happy to be there. Moreover, you can hear them suggesting the ways Black Sabbath fronted by Glen Hughes could've gone to, had he stayed longer. Sadly, Fused ended up as a fluke, because the original lineup of the group I mentioned took the whole attention from Mr. Iommi and this became yet another case of Hughes being stood up.

Wings
A New Day Part 3
The group was in Kenny's truck, which sputtered to a stop on a crossroad near a pharmacy.
“Well, this is as far as we're going.” Said Kenny, opening the door.
“Then it's far enough.” Responded Lee, as everyone got out of the truck and walked down the street. Lee briefly stopped in front of his family's pharmacy.
“Look!” Said Duck, pointing to what appeared to be a person near a car in the distance.
“Hey there!” Called Kenny, as he waved his arms, trying to get their attention, “You friendly? Truck's run out of gas.”
The person looked up, revealing that it's actually one of those creatures eating a dead survivor.
“Fuck!” Swore Kenny, as more creatures started approaching the group, surrounding them.
“We're trapped!” Cried Katjaa, as Duck screamed.
One of the creatures knocked Duck over, pinning his wings to the ground and tried to attack him.
“No, no!” Screamed Duck, as Lee swung a wing out and took one of the creatures down. He turned around to see a brunette woman with deep purple wings was shooting at the creature, who collapsed on Duck, covering him in its blood. He quickly returned to the group and hugged his parents. The woman who saved Duck continued to shoot the creatures. Another survivor stood by the entrance of the pharmacy.
“Run!” He yelled, gesturing them over to him.
The woman fired a few more shots at the creatures, slicing one up with her wings, before joining the small group as they ran into the building behind the other survivor. He closed and padlocked the metal gate in front of the building and joined the others inside as the creatures pounded on the gate. There were three more survivors inside the pharmacy.
“We can't take risks like this!” Yelled another woman, another brunette.
“And we can't just let people die, either.” Retorted the first woman.
“When I say ‘that door stays shut no matter what’ I fucking mean it.” Snarled the second woman, “We don't know who these people are; they could be dangerous!”
“Worse, they could've led 'em right to us!” Sneered an old man.
“Where the hell is your humanity?! They would've died out there!” Demanded the first woman.
“Then we let 'em!” Snarled the old man.
“Whoa, chill the fuck out, lady.” Said Lee, glaring at the woman, “We're just people trying to avoid those things, just like you.”
“Don't come in here and swear at me!” Snarled the second woman, glaring at Lee.
“I'll say whatever I want if you start threatening these people.” Snapped Lee, returning the glare and flaring his wings.
“You'll have to excuse her.” Apologised the first woman, looking at Lee.
“The hell he, or anyone will.” Snarled the second woman, “This is about survival, do you guys not see what's happening?”
Clementine held Lee's hand and looked up at him.
“What is it?” Asked Lee, wing wings relaxing slightly.
“I... I have to pee.” Whispered Clementine, nervously looking at the angry woman.
“I'd go out there again in a second.” Said the man that helped save them.
“I bet you would.” Sneered the second woman, “You're a dumb, careless kid.”
“I would too!” Declared the first woman, her wings flaring out. Lee already decided he liked her.
“Then just go.” Said Lee, looking back at the conversation as Clementine let go of Lee's hand.
“They've got kids, Lilly.” Said the man.
“Those things outside don't care.” Said Lilly, glaring at him.
“Maybe you should go join 'em then.” Suggested Kenny, “You'll have something in common!”
“Goddamn it, Lilly, you have to control these people!” Snarled the old man.
“Carley and Glenn just ran out there!” Defended Lilly, looking at the old man, Lee mentally noted their names.
“I don't give a flying fuck!” Snarled the old man, “We're in a warzone!”
Clementine approached the bathroom, part of her needed to pee, but most of her wanted to get away from the fighting.
“She's an asshole, that's for sure.” Muttered Lee, glancing at Kenny.
“That's what it takes.” Spat Lilly, glaring at Lee.
“Well, you don't have to be a bitch about it.” Retorted Lee, matching her glare.
“Holy shit.” Swore the Old Man, looking behind him. Duck was sitting on one of the chairs near the bar with Katjaa cleaning him up, “Son of a bitch, one of them is bitten!”
“He wasn't bitten.” Stated Lee, turning his glare on the man.
“Hell he wasn't!” Growled the Old man, sneering at Lee, “We have to end this, now.”
The old man started to walk over to Duck and Katjaa, before Kenny intercepted him, blocking his path to the mother and son.
“Over my dead body.” Growled Kenny, with Lee joining his side to make the impromptu barrier bigger.
“We'll dig one hole.” Sneered the old man, making Lee flare his wings.
“No!” Cried Katjaa, frantically wiping the blood off Duck, “I'm cleaning him up! There's no bite! He's fine!”
Katjaa hurriedly wiped blood off Duck, searching for a bite as she did.
“Don't you fucking people get it?” Growled the Old Man, looking around, “We've already seen this happen. We let someone with a bite stay and... and we all end up bitten!”
“Shut up!” Yelled Kenny, glaring at him.
“We gotta throw him out,” Bellowed the man, “or smash his head in!”
“Kenny, stop him!” Cried Katjaa, frantically wiping blood off Duck.
“Lee, what do we do about this guy?” Asked Kenny, glancing at Lee.
“Dad,” Pleaded Lilly, “it's just a boy, it's—”
“Lilly,” Growled the man, “I'll handle this.”
“But your heart, Dad.” Said Lilly, “You need to calm down. We'll get this kid out of here.”
“It's either him or your son.” Said Lee, “I say it's him.”
Lee crossed his arms and glared at the old man while flaring his wings.
“Goddamn right,” Said Kenny, glaring at the old man, “out on his ass with those things!”
“Everyone, chill the fuck out!” Yelled Carley, glancing at the windows and door.
“Nobody is doing anything.” Snarled Lilly, glaring at everyone.
“Shut up, Lilly!” Bellowed the man, before he turned to Carley, “And you, shut the fuck up.” He turned back to the group and snarled, “They will find us, and they will get in here, and none of this will fucking matter. But right now, we're about to be trapped in here with one of those things.”
“What the hell are you talkin' about?” Demanded Kenny, glaring at the man.
“He's bitten! That's how you turn!” Bellowed the man, pointing at Duck.
“He's not bitten!” Cried Katjaa, “Lee, stop this! It's upsetting him!”
“Oh, I'm ‘upsetting’ him?” Scoffed the man, “Upsetting is getting eaten alive!”
“Dad, we get it,” Interrupted Lilly, “it's a big deal.”
“Do you?” Sneered the man, “You're not fucking acting like it!”
“What if this was your daughter?” Questioned Lee, glaring at the man with his wing rigid.
“Never woulda happened.” Scoffed the man, “She's not some snot-nosed freak, okay? She's United States Air Force.”
“Oh, fuck you and her!” Bellowed Kenny, snarling at the man, “I'm gonna kill him, Kat! Just worry about Duck.”
“Lee?” Said Clementine, standing in front of the bathroom door.
“Yeah?” Answered Lee, keeping his eyes on the argument.
“There's someone in there.” Said Clementine, looking at Lee.
“It's just locked. Key's behind the counter.” Said Lee, before hastily adding, “Probably.”
“Hey, I'm not the bad guy here,” Snapped the man, “I'm just looking out for my daughter!”
“No, you're just the guy arguing for killing a kid!” Roared Kenny, his face red.
“He's covered in muck!” Snarled the man, “She'll find the bite. Watch!”
“She won't.” Said Kenny, confidently.
“And if she does?” Questioned the man, “The first thing he'll do is sink his teeth into his mom's face. Then once she's dead, he'll probably pounce on your little girl! She'll turn fast and then they'll be three. And that, boy, is the ballgame.”
“Then we deal with it then.” Said Lee, getting between Kenny and the old man, “But right now we're just freaking everybody out.”
Kenny felt a wave of relief fill him, glad Lee had his back.
“Then get ready to deal with it because that boy is bitten.” Snarled the man, glaring at Lee.
“It's not gonna happen!” Snarled Kenny, his face slowly going a shade of purple.
“It is and we're tossing him out now!” Sneered the man, trying to push his way past Lee and Kenny.
“No! You don't touch that boy, you don't touch anybody!” Roared Lee, his wings arcing above his head and piercing the ceiling. Everyone froze at Lee’s shout, “I've got a little girl I'm trying to protect in here too. You want to get violent, you old fuck?! Well, come on! You better have a plan to kill me, though, because it's me, before anyone else in here!”
Clementine screaming as she opened the bathroom door drew everyone’s attention to her and causing them to see one of the creatures emerging from the bathroom, trying to attack Clementine.
“Jesus!” Swore the man, stepping back.
“Clementine!” Cried Lee, running over to her, before he ran into Lilly and fell to the ground, hitting his head on a shelf. His vision was blurry, but he could vaguely see the creature grabbing Clementine. Lee got up and ran over to Clementine, pulled the creature away from her and started grappling with it, “Get away from her, you son of a bitch!” He tossed the creature to the ground, going to arch his wings, only for one of his wings to give a stab of pain.
The creature got up and attacked Lee, and he suddenly found himself trying to push it away. “Ah, God, get off! Ugh...”
The creature was cut in half by a deep purple wing, before Carley shot it in the head as it writhed around on the floor.
“Man...” Groaned Lee, slowly relaxing his wings, feeling the pain in his wing start to alleviate.
Carley lowered her gun and looked at Lee, “You okay?”
“Just great, thanks.” Lee gave her a thumbs up, as Clementine looked up at him.
“Uh... guys?” Came Glenn’s voice, as the Creatures growled and pounded on the door.
“Everybody down! Stay quiet!” Whispered Lilly, crouching.
Kenny and his family huddled together, with Duck’s wings giving an occasional shake, Clementine hid behind Lee, and everyone else knelt down behind the shelves.
“They're gonna get in!” Whispered the old man, looking around.
“Shut up.” Responded Kenny, casting a glare at him.
They heard a series of noises, followed by gunfire outside the store.
“Is that the military?” Asked Lee, looking at Lilly.
“I don't know.” Answered Lilly, looking back at him.
“Thank God for whatever it is.” Said Glenn, looking around the group.
The old man got up and marched across the room. Everyone left their hiding places, as he started ranting, “We almost died because of this bitch and her itchy trigger finger! That was stupid! That was—” He groaned and grabbed his chest, before falling to the floor.
“Dad!” Cried Lilly, ran over to the man, who was lying on his side on the floor.
“Shit.” Whispered Kenny, glancing at Lee.
“I did try to get him to calm down...” Said Lee, getting a glare from Lilly.
“Can it, asshole!” Snapped Lilly, looking back at her father, “It's his heart!”
“My pills...” Muttered the man, from his spot on the floor.
“Um...” Katjaa looked at them, “Nitroglycerin pills?”
“Yes. We're out. We've been trying to get into the pharmacy since we got here!” Said Lilly, standing up, “Please, try to get in there! Behind the counter, where the pills are!”
“There's probably another entrance.” Said Lee, leaning against the shelves, “Maybe through the office.”
“How do you know that's an office?” Asked Carley, her wings perking slightly.
“Educated guess.” Dismissed Lee, folding his wings tight against his back.
“It doesn't matter. We need nitroglycerin pills.” Dismissed Lilly, glancing around, “Please get in there. I'll keep an eye on my dad.”
“Everyone else should get comfy and look for anything useful.” Said Kenny, “We could be in here a while.”
“I'm starting to think this drugstore isn't a permanent solution.” Admitted Glenn, looking around.
“You're right, this ain't exactly Fort Knox.” Agreed Kenny, looking around the store.
“What do you suggest?” Asked Lee, folding his arms.
“We need as much gas as possible so we can all get out of downtown Macon.” Said Glenn, looking at Lee, “Fast.”
“Agreed.” Said Lee, looking at Glenn.
“Then I'll head out and get gas.” Said Glenn, looking towards one of the exits, “There's a motel not too far from here, out towards the end of Peachtree. I'll work my way towards it and then loop back, siphoning what I can.”
“You know your way around?” Asked Lee, surprised, “Local?”
“Born and raised.” Grinned Glenn, rocking back on his feet.
“If you're gonna do that, here's a walkie-talkie if you get in a tight spot.” Said Lee, taking the walkie-talkie from Clementine’s home and gave it to Glenn, “Hopefully you won't need it.”
“Cool.” Tucking the walkie-talkie into his pocket.
“Clementine's got the other one.” Explained Lee, “Check in with her and get back here as soon as you can.”
Glenn nodded as he left.
“And, you, what's your name?” Asked Kenny, looking down at Lilly and her father.
“It's Lilly.” Answered Lilly, before gesturing towards her father, “My dad's Larry.”
“Keep a good eye on him.” Said Kenny, gesturing to the others, “These boys will work on getting you your medicine.”
“That's right.” Nodded Lee, as Kenny looked around.
“And you, you keep an eye on that front door.” Kenny spoke to a man by the door, “You're our lookout.”
“It's Doug, you got it.” Said Doug, nodding.
“And I'm Carley.” Said Carley, folding her wings away.
“Okay, Carley, you'll shift in with Doug when he needs it.” Nodded Kenny, looking at her, “For now, get some rest. You're a good shot and I'd like to keep it that way.”
“You got it, boss.” Nodded Carley, looking down at a radio.
“Now get him those pills.” Said Kenny, going to stand next to Katjaa and Duck.
Lilly knelt next to Larry, who was propped up on the shelves behind him. Doug was looking out the window near the entrance, while Carley worked on a radio and Clementine sat on a cardboard box nearby, holding her radio. Lee sighed and walked around the store, looking around the shelves, picking up anything he thought might be useful.
“You're a pretty good shot.” Said Lee, approaching Carley.
“Well, you don't fuck with a reporter, especially one that's three days out from her last cup of coffee.” Snarked Carley, smiling at Lee.
“You seem to handle yourself pretty well.” Complimented Lee, leaning against the shelf.
“Ha, really? I'm a disaster.” Laughed Carley, her wings flaring slightly.
“I can't tell.” Chuckled Lee, his own wings losing some of their tension.
“My news editor was eaten about five feet away from me,” Said Carley, her wings drooping, “and I would've joined her if it wasn't for that dorky guy on watch over there.”
“I'm sorry.” Said Lee, looking at her.
“She was an asshole, but, you know.” Shrugged Carley, looking back down at the radio.
“Yeah.” Sighed Lee, before he approached Doug, “Heard or seen anything?”
“Nothing, luckily.” Confessed Doug, looking around, “Wanna step outside, have a look around?”
“Ha, I'm not suicidal yet.” Chuckled Lee, shaking his head.
“No, the gate out there is closed.” Said Doug, pointing outside, “We can hang out in front of the store and be fine.”
“Oh, huh.” Lee folding his arms, before shrugging, “Sure, let's go have a look around.”
“Cool, and...” Doug looked around “we'll keep it down. Don't need to bring 'em back with any unnecessary noises.”
“Agreed.” Nodded Lee, as he and Doug left the store, “Jesus.”
There was a large group of creatures loitering around the streets, some hunched over, eating dead bodies. Doug covered his mouth with his hand, “I think I'm gonna be sick.”
“They just...” Lee couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Eat.” Finished Doug, grimly, “As far as I can tell, that's all they care about.”
“And if one gets you...?” Lee looked at Doug.
“They eat you,” Answered Doug, “and whatever is left comes back as one of them.”
“How the fuck...” Lee continued to looked around.
“I think it might be more than a couple days before all this gets sorted out.” Confessed Doug, glancing around.
“Yeah, I think so too.” Agreed Lee, “We better keep it down out here.”
Lee spotted a TV shop across from the store, “Ha, too bad we don't have a way to come out here and watch the news.”
“It would be nice to know what's going on elsewhere.” Agreed Doug, nodding at him.
“Atlanta's in rough shape; that's all I know.” Answered Lee, looking around, “Any idea where the pharmacy keys might be?”
“We searched high and low inside before you guys got here.” Answered Doug, looking at Lee, “And they weren't on the old couple we took out of the office.”
Lee looked down sadly, making Doug frown.
“Are you okay?” Asked Doug, making Lee look up.
“I'm fine.” He shook his head, “If the keys aren't in the drugstore, think they could be out here?”
“We now live in a world where ‘getting up and walking away’ is an actual possibility, so...” Doug shrugged.
“Right.” Said Lee, as they got up and re-entered the drugstore. He looked around, before walking up to the small family towards the back of the store, catching the tail end of a conversation Between Katjaa and Kenny.
“We can't let anything happen to Ducky.” Said Katjaa, rubbing between Duck’s wings.
“I know, hon.” Sighed Kenny, leaning against some shelves.
“We just need to get back to Fort Lauderdale.” Continued Katjaa, making Kenny sigh again.
“We'll do our damnedest.” Said Kenny, running a hand down his face, “Try to get some rest, hon.”
“How can I with those things out there?” Asked Katjaa, frowning.
“Hey, Lee.” Greeted Kenny, as he spotted Lee, “You really gave that old man hell.”
“Yeah.” Lee shrugged, “We got pushed, you know?”
“You don't have to tell me; I was ready to tear the man's head off.” Chuckled Kenny, looking at Lee, “Anyway, we, Kat and I, appreciate your support.”
“Thank you, Lee.” Smiled Katjaa, looking tired.
“How's Duck doing?” Asked Lee, looking at the winged boy.
“He's okay, it was just a shock.” Answered Katjaa, looking at Duck.
“We're lucky as hell nobody got nabbed on the way in here.” Confessed Kenny, looking at them.
“No kidding.” Said Lee, looking down at Duck, before looking at Clementine.
“How's she doing?” Asked Katjaa, following Lee’s gaze.
“She's good, I think.” Answered Lee, watching as Clementine swung her legs.
“She's a tough one, right there.” Said Kenny, looking at Clementine.
“She's just a little girl, Ken.” Sighed Katjaa, giving Kenny an exasperated look.
“What were you sayin', Lee, she spent days surviving on her own?” Asked Kenny, looking at Lee.
“That's right.” Nodded Lee, not taking his eyes off Clementine.
“Not just any little girl can do that.” Remarked Kenny, getting a nod from Lee as the man walked away.
“How's he doing?” Asked Lee, looking down at Lilly and Larry.
“I'm not sure I got your name.” Responded Lilly, standing up.
“It's Lee.” Responded Lee, looking at Lilly.
“Lilly. My dad's Larry.” Reintroduced the woman, “I was just doing what I had to earlier.”
“Everyone was.” Answered Lee, leaning against a shelf.
“Now his heart's acting up again, and I'm powerless to do anything.” Sighed Lilly, before giving Lee a look, “And that violence before, with my dad--that didn't help.”
“What's wrong with him?” Asked Lee, looking down at Larry.
“He's got a heart condition.” Answered Lilly, “He takes nitroglycerin tablets pretty regularly. I've seen a few bad attacks that he couldn't get over and needed to go to the hospital.”
“Yeah, that's not really an option right now.” Said Lee, frowning.
“I'm just trying to keep him relaxed.” Said Lilly, crouching down next to Larry.
Sighing, Lee walked over to Clementine and knelt down next to her, “Hey, there.”
“Hi.” Said Clementine, looking at Lee.
“Any word from Glenn?” Asked Lee, frowning as Clementine shook her head.
“Nothing. Is he okay?” Asked Clementine, frowning.
“Yeah, I think so.” Said Lee, before smiling, “You're doing a good job.”
Lee sighed, and walked to the office door, with another sigh, he opened the door and entered the office, with Clementine following him inside. Lee stopped when he noticed the bed covered in blood.
“I can't... I can't think about them in here.” Lee swallowed, before looking at Clementine, “Everyone out there seem alright to you?”
“Yeah. Well, maybe not the sick guy.” Said Clementine, looking down.
“Yeah.” Sighed Lee, “We'll keep an eye on him.”
“There was that thing in the bathroom.” Said Clementine, her wings trembling slightly, “It tried to get me.”
“I know.” Sighed Lee, his wings twitching.
“But you stopped it.” Smiled Clementine, looking up at Lee.
“Yeah, I did.” Smiled Lee.
“Can you do that more?” Asked Clementine, getting a chuckle from Lee.
“Well, I'm not gonna go looking for them.” Laughed Lee, getting a wider smile from Clementine.
“I mean, get the dangerous ones.” Clarified Clementine, her wings folding behind her back.
“I'm gonna try.” Promised Lee, looking around the office.
“Good.” Smiled Clementine, as she nodded.
Lee picked up the wooden pallet blocking the door, making a cane fall out from behind it. Lee leaned the pallet against the wall next to the door and picked up the cane.
“What's that?” Asked Clementine, looking at the cane.
“This was my dad's cane.” Said Lee, examining it, “He'd zip around here on it from time to time.”
“Was he sick?” Asked Clementine, looking up at Lee.
“Nah, he was okay.” Answered Lee, looking at Clementine, “I actually saw him whoop shoplifters with it. This cane's protected this place better than any guard dog ever could.”
Lee leaned the cane against the wall near the pallet, “Plus, he knew how to make it look cool. Like you, with your hat.”
“My dad gave it to me.” Smiled Clementine, touching her hat.
“See, dads are smart like that.” Chuckled Lee, as he prepared to move the desk, “Better get this door clear, huh?”
“Can I help?” Asked Clementine, looking up at Lee.
“Sure.” Answered Lee, as he and Clementine grabbed onto the desk, “Here we go. Watch your fingers in the drawers.” They pulled the desk backward, before stopping. “How are you doing?” Asked Lee, looking at Clementine.
“Yeah.” Grunted Clementine, focusing on the desk, “It's not that heavy.”
“How about with everything outside?” Asked Lee, looking down at Clementine.
“It's not good.” Said Clementine, gasping as she looked up at Lee.
“No, it's not.” Agreed Lee, looking towards the door.
“But I think it'll be okay.” Finished Clementine, looking at Lee smiled at her.
“Okay, here we go.” Said Lee, as they moved the desk back again, then Lee began pushing it to the side, but paused when Clementine spoke to him.
“Do you have kids?” Asked Clementine, looking up at Lee.
“No.” Answered Lee, frowning.
“You don't have a family?” Clementine looked back up at Lee, “My mom is a doctor and my dad is an engineer.”
“Those are good jobs.” Chuckled Lee, looking down at her.
“What's your job?” Asked Clementine, shifting her wings slightly.
“I, uh,” Lee’s wings drooped slightly, “teach history and writing and things like that.”
“Like...” Clementine frowned, “um...”, she looked down, before looking back up at Lee, “social studies?”
“Yeah, like that.” Nodded Lee, looking back at the desk.
Clementine nodded, before looking back up at Lee, “You didn't answer my question.”
“Alright, a little further.” Said Lee, avoiding the question, as he and Clementine rotated the desk so that it was no longer blocking the door.
“Why don't you want to talk about your family?” Asked Clementine, “Do they, like...hate you?”
“Because they're dead.” Corrected Lee, sombrely.
“Oh. I'm sorry.” Apologised Clementine, looking down.
“You didn't know.” Responded Lee, looking at the girl.
“I'm just sorry for being mean.” Sighed Clementine, as Lee knelt down in front of her.
“Look, my family is gone and I just wish things would've been different.” Said Lee, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Yeah.” Nodded Clementine, looking at Lee.
“I, uh... I ki... I got into a fight once.” Said Lee, his wings quivering.
“And what happened?” Asked Clementine, her wings unconsciously mimicking Lee’s.
“And it ended really badly. After that, I wasn't allowed to talk to my family.” Finished Lee, looking at Clementine.
“That's so sad...” Said Clementine, swallowing.
“Let's move this thing.” Said Lee, deciding to deal with his emotions later. He and Clementine started to push the desk against the wall, before Clementine suddenly jumped back.
“Ow!” Cried Clementine, looking at her finger as it bled.
“Are you okay?” Asked Lee, looking down at her.
“I hurt my finger.” Said Clementine, looking at it.
“Is it bleeding?” Asked Lee, crouching.
“A little.” Answered Clementine, as Lee picked up and sat her on the desk.
“I'll find you a bandage.” Said Lee, before looking around for a first aid kit, he opened the desk drawer and searched it, finding a remote the remote inside, “It's the remote to my dad's TV.” He looked over at Clementine, “How are we doing over there?”
“Okay. It still hurts.” Answered Clementine, as Lee found and searched the first-aid kit and retrieving a bandage. Lee knelt down in front of Clementine and held her hand, inspecting her injured finger.
“Let's have a look at that finger.” Murmured Lee, as he moved her injured finger, “Ow.”
“It hurt.” Winced Clementine.
“Let's see if we can do something about it.” Said Lee, examining her finger, “You got a nice little cut on the underside here.”
“That's where it hurts the most.” Whined Clementine, as Lee looked at the cut.
“We need a bandage for that, I think.” Said Lee, “Getting an infection might be a big deal now.”
“What do you mean?” Asked Clementine, nervously.
“Just might be tough to get to a doctor for a little while.” Answered Lee, glancing up at her, “We need to keep you in tip-top shape.”
Lee prepared to bandage Clementine's wound, carefully handling Clementine’s finger, “Let's get this cut covered up.”
“Yes, please.” Said Clementine, nodding, as Lee wrapped a band-aid over the cut, “Lee?”
“Yeah?”
“What if my parents come home and I'm not there?” Asked Clementine, looking up at Lee.
“They'll, uh...” Lee felt a flare of panic, it finally hitting him that he accidentally abducted Clementine, “track us down. Don't worry.”
“Yeah. Okay. We should keep a lookout.” Nodded Clementine, “I've got my walkie-talkie in case they try that way.”
“Stay close to me until then, okay?” Said Lee, his wings snapping to his back, determined to protect her.
Clementine nodded, as Lee looked at the bandaged finger, “How's your finger?”
“It's okay. Thanks for fixing it.” Smiled Clementine, looking up at Lee.
Lee walked over to the bed picked up a photo on the ground, it showed his family in front of the pharmacy. Lee smiled slightly, before sadness came to him. He tore himself out of the picture and put the rest of it in his pocket.
“Find anything?” Asked Carley, making Lee’s wings flare as he jumped.
With a surprised look, he turned around to look at Carley, he let the picture shred of himself fall out of his hand and to the floor.
“It's a photo of the family who owned this place.” Said Lee, his wings folding back slightly, “It might help us track down the keys to the office.”
“I know who you are.” Said Carley, bluntly.
Lee stared at her, while Clementine listened to them next to the door.
“You're Lee Everett. You're a professor at Athens who killed a state senator who was sleeping with your wife. This is your parents' store.” Carley stared into his eyes, “Folks around town know the owner's son got himself a life sentence, but I'm a reporter for WABE in Atlanta. I paid attention to that trial. Maybe you're a murderer. But I don't really care. Frankly, that's a skill that might come in handy.”
“Hmmph.” Grunted Lee, frowning at her.
“Did you tell anyone out there who you were, or that you were tied to this place?” Asked Carley, looking towards the door.
“No.” Answered Lee, his wings snapping against his back and folding his arms, “I've been sticking to first names for a reason.”
“Well, good.” Responded Carley, “You seem like an okay guy, and the last thing we need is drama out there. You've got this little girl to take care of, and...look, don't make me wrong on this.”
Lee took a step closer to Carley and looked in her eyes, “I don't plan to.”
“Good. Because if this lasts longer than a few days, and you're a detriment to the group, then we'd have a problem.” Stated Carley, her own wings flat against her back.
“I hear you.” Said Lee, uncrossing his arms.
“I'll just keep it to myself.” Said Carley, her wings relaxing.
“Thanks.”
“Don't worry about it.” Dismissed Carley, as she walked out of the office.
Lee approached the door, preparing to leave, “Want to head back into the drugstore with me?”
“Okay.” Said Clementine, as she walks up to Lee, she held her wrist bashfully, “Lee?”
“Yeah?” Responded Lee, looking down at her.
“You're not bad, right?” Questioned Clementine.
“I, uh...why are you asking me that?”
“That lady said you killed someone.” Said Clementine, “Was that because he was one of the things trying to eat you?”
“No. He wasn't.” Sighed Lee, looking down.
“Oh. Was he bad?”
“He was.” Answered Lee, just as Glenn called Clementine's radio.
“Hey, there, this is Glenn, and, uh, I'm kinda in a jam here.” Came Glenn’s voice, “Uh, little girl, if you're there, can you put your daddy on the phone? Or on the talkie, or whatever?”
Clementine handed the walkie-talkie to Lee, “This is Lee, what's up?”
“So,” Said Glenn, “I'm down at that motor inn and, well, I--I'm stuck.”
“Stuck?” Asked Lee, frowning.
“Yeah, I, uh saw a chance to get some supplies for the group and a bunch of the roaming ones got the jump on me.” Explained Glenn, “I'm hiding over here, but they won't leave.”
“What's up?” Asked Kenny, walking over to them.
“Glenn's trapped down at the motor inn.” Said Lee, turning to Kenny, before talking to Glenn, “Hey, Glenn, we're gonna talk it over and send a group to come get you, alright?”
“Awesome. I'll sit tight 'til then.” Responded Glenn, before falling silent.
“Sounds good.” Said Lee, turning off the walkie-talkie, before speaking to Clementine, “I'm gonna hold onto this until we get Glenn back, okay? I'll take good care of it.”
“What do you think?” Asked Kenny, making Lee turn to him.
“I think Doug's not great around zombies, and you've got your family here.” Said Lee, looking around, “I'll take Carley and her dead-eye down to the motor inn, get Glenn, and get back here as fast as I can.”
“If that's what you want to do...” Conceded Kenny, apprehensive.
“Somebody's got to.” Stated Lee, turning to talk to Carley.
“Yeah, I'm in.” Said Carley, revealing she’d been listening to their conversation.
“Good. Doesn't sound too bad there right now.” Laughed Lee, his wings doing small flaps.
“Let me know as soon as you wanna head out. I could use a jog.” Responded Carley, her wings subconsciously mimicking Lee’s.
Lee smiled, before walking over to Clementine and crouched down to talk to her, “How's your finger, Clem?”
“Good.” Said the girl, her little wings flapping slightly, “It doesn't hurt so much anymore.”
“Good.” Sighed Lee, he got up and walked over to Carley, “You ready to head out?”
“You got it.” Nodded Carley, grabbing “You?”
“Yeah.”
“Then let's go.” Said Carley, her wings snapping against her back and following Lee out of the side exit.

King James at MTC
Did they kiss?
No, the only two named characters in the play, Shawn (Davis) & Matt (Perfetti), did not kiss. (Khloe Janel was a DJ for the show and interacted with no actors until curtain call.)
Should they have?
No. The play is about male friendship so it’s good that there wasn’t sexual tension of any kind between them so the friendship could be the focus. Shawn and Matt are also both written to be aggressively heterosexual. Davis & Perfetti had fine chemistry, although Matt was such a typical annoying white friend that it was hard to aggressively root for their relationship.
King James by Rajiv Joseph directed by Kenny Leon starring Glenn Davis, Chris Perfetti, & Khloe Janel Runs at MTC’s New York City Center Stage I through June 18 This production was previously produced at Steppenwolf and CTG
