Pete Cornish - Judas Priest pedalboards
Pete Cornish: "You are in luck:-)) I found the full details of Glen Tipton's and Kenny Downing's effects boards. I made these in October 1980 so they would have been used on the 1982 recording of "Screaming For Vengeance". I made new remote controlled racks in 1984 so the boards would definitely have been used before that date. The effects in the boards are as follows: KK Downing S/N 054: PC Input isolator>TB-83>NG-2>ST-2>MXR Phase 100>PC Modified Cry Baby>Echoplex EP3 Send/Return>NB-2 (Linear Boost)>Mute>Four isolated outputs to 50W Marshall heads. Glen Tipton S/N 056: PC Input Isolator>TB-83>SS-2>NG-2>ST-2>MXR Phase 100>MXRFlanger>MXR Analogue Delay>Echoplex EP3 Send/Return>MXR 10 Band EQ>NB-2 (Linear Boost)>Mute>Four isolated outputs to 50W Marshall heads>D.I. to PA. As you can see, it is not as simple as just one of my effects units as combinations would have been used. Hope the info is of interest."

Missed opportunity for Marcus's grief making a circle and Nat telling The Computer not to fuck with Marcus.
Marcus keeps his phone on him despite telling Carmy "Take us there, Bear." and accepting the non-negotiables.
Nat can't get a hold of anyone but Marcus. He gets her to the hospital. The team stays behind because they HAVE to get through service. Marcus is now a good emergency contact.
He often thinks about how he didn't keep his phone on him when his mom died but now a part of him has healed. Pete gives Marcus a big ol hug when he gets to the hospital and makes sure Nat is okay. Marcus waits in the lobby and thinks of his mom- taking care of her, talking to her- thinks of the past- his mom taking care of him- HE brought them (Nat and baby and Pete) there... to love and safety. The next level.
The team makes their way into the waiting room and it's a joyous moment. Cut to Carmy at the restaurant pacing in front of a raw Cornish hen or something.

Here's a fairly solid amount of all the different kinds of media that I think both can fit well in and could share the same universe as Sam Raimi's gloriously bonkers and beautifully insane Evil Dead Trilogy, as well as its sequel television series Ash Vs. Pete comes back from skiing side-by-side with Olivia. They walk into the hotel together. And any other day before this one Patrick would have looked at that with suspicion and dread, waiting for Pete to say something about hanging out with Olivia instead of Patrick, and it bursts on Patrick all of a sudden that he never has to go through that dread ever again. Pete is never going to leave him behind for some random girl who doesn’t deserve him, because Pete is just going to be his, forever and ever.
So, when Pete comes into the lobby next to Olivia and says, smiling fondly at him as he pulls off his gloves, “Smells delicious in here. Are those your Cornish—” Patrick doesn’t even wait for him to finish the question before putting a hand in his puffy ski jacket and pulling him in for a kiss.

Release:  January 1, 1984
Lyrics:
It was the night she was with me
I was still awake, she thought I was sleeping
The window was open, letting in the silver light of the moon
Lies next to me and trembles with light
Something in her face glowed in the night
Someone called a radio signal from home
Call to the Angel 07
It was so mysterious
Call intergalactic
Somewhere from beyond the sky
Call to the Angel 07
On a heavenly mission
With a hint of distrust
May heaven have sent them a spy
The coolest of cool
Ice water light
Science fiction voice
Calming at night
I felt the heat of her body
The power of love sent from heaven
Oh, completely frozen, the wonder of her race
Floating animation in the structure of the room
In the heat of the moment, a message came from control
Call to the Angel 07
It was so mysterious
Call intergalactic
Somewhere from beyond the sky
Call to the Angel 07
On a heavenly mission
With a hint of distrust
May heaven have sent them a spy
Where is she at home?
She is my angel who is in control
Origin unknown
Mr. Terrific just can't follow
She looked up at me, tears in her eyes
She said, “I have to go, I can’t tell you why.”
I really love you and maybe I'll see you again
Call to the Angel 07
Call to the Angel 07
Call to the Angel 07
My heavenly love
Call to the Angel 07
It was so mysterious
Call intergalactic
Somewhere from beyond the sky
Call to the Angel 07
On a heavenly mission
With a hint of distrust
May heaven have sent them a spy
Songwriter:
Call to the Angel 07
Call to the Angel 07
Call to the Angel 07
My heavenly love
Hubert Kemmler, T. Touchton
SongFacts:
"Angel 07" is a song by German synthpop band Hubert Kah, released in 1984 as the lead single from the band's second studio album, Golden Times. “Angel 07” was written by Hubert Kemmler (music) and Mario Killer (lyrics) and produced by Michael Cretu and Armand Volker. The song reached number 30 in the German single charts.
A re-recorded English-language version of the song, "Angel 07", was released as a single in 1985. The English text was written by Timothy Touchton. In the United States, "Angel 07" was taken from the soundtrack of the American comedy action film Gotcha! published in 1985.
In 1986, Megumi Shiina recorded a Japanese version of the song as "Change Me!" The Japanese text was written by Hiromi Mori.
The band sang the song on Na sowas! on German television. on May 9, 1984, Der Spielbude on August 9, 1984 and ZDF Hitparade on January 17, 1985. A music video was filmed to promote the English version of the song. Directed by Pete Cornish.
Upon release, Cash Box listed the single as one of their "Feature Picks" in June 1985. They commented: “Hubert Kah scores with a brilliant pop outing that is reminiscent of his German compatriot Peter Schilling. A good international feeling, a perfect record for the summer CHR.”

Movies I watched this Week # 142 (Year 3/Week 38):
“Wasson?…”
Mark Kermore just resigned from his post as The Observor's film critic after 10 years, and in his last article he listed his top films from 2013 until now. His most favourite? Bait, which he called “the defining British film of the decade”, by new Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin. It is indeed a visually-different, experimental-like masterpiece, shot in splotchy black & white, like a grainy, monochrome Tarkovsky. 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. 8/10. I'll watch his recent film 'Enys Men' next (even though I don't usually care for 'British Folk Horror').
🍿
2 about the monstrous Margaret Thatcher:
🍿 Meantime, my 9th beloved film by British mensch Mike Leigh, another story about the plight of a lower working class family, living in a dystopian Clockwork Orange tenement. Uncomfortable viewing about dreary, miserable lives, mired in poverty and hopelessness during the 1979 "Revolution". With teenager Tim Roth, young Alfred Molina, and psychotic skinhead Gary Oldman. Tragic And heartbreaking. 7/10.
🍿 El Conde, my second by Chilean Pablo Larrain (after 'Spencer'). A black comedy horror metaphor that tried to humanize Augusto Pinochet, by making him a blood-sucking vampire. Like 'Jojo Rabbit', it caused me nothing but distress, especially now on the 50th anniversary of Pinochet cruel coup. It opened with the most unpleasant voiceover, which turned out to be Margaret Thatcher, the other despicable puppet master from that time, here playing the fascist's mother. He went for Magical Realism, but he was no Gabriel García Márquez. 4/10.
🍿
The quiet girl, my 3rd or 4th re-watch of this tender, magnificent gem, one of my most cherished films from 2022. An illustration of Care vs. Neglect. My mom told me about this beautiful story she was reading, and which was the basis for this film, and I was delighted to introduce her to this sublime masterpiece, which we watched together. 10/10.
🍿
First watch! Charlie Chaplin's 1915 silent movie The tramp, the first time he introduced his signature character proper. Filmed in Niles, California, which is today Fremont, and then was a budding film town.
🍿
Objector, a very Israeli 2019 documentary about a young woman who refuses to serve in the army, becomes a conscientious objector, and even serves 110 days in a military prison. As an ex-Israeli and as a guy unwilling to join the army in 1970, this affair was specifically very relevant to me. My hatred for the Israeli occupation is immense, and the story told here was desperately tragic and heartbreaking. Unfortunately, as a movie, it wasn’t very good, probably because the director was inexperienced. That most of the characters spoke English among themselves was another big drawback.
🍿
I never heard about comic genius ventriloquist Nina Conti (Tom Conti's daughter) until finding her on r/nextfuckinglevel. Watching a bunch of her YouTube clips, this pretty, sexy, hilarious comic is superbly creative. In 2012, she wrote and directed a personal documentary, Her master’s Voice. In it she travels to an odd international ventriloquist convention in Kentucky (Photo Above). But it's mostly a tribute to a man, Ken Campbell, who just died. He's the one who had introduced her to the puppets years ago but he also was her lover, when she was in her twenties, and he was in his sixties. Brilliant. 9/10.
🍿
Another re-watch of occasional random 'Mad Men' episode, Signal 30 from S5 E5. That's the one with the dripping faucet in Pete's kitchen, and the visit to the whorehouse, which ends in a fiasco. Co-written by Frank Pierce (who also directed 'Conspiracy'). Another example of the superb ensemble drama, featuring dozens of complex characters. "A thing like that"... 9/10.
🍿
Jeff who lives at home, my second film directed by the Duplass Brothers, the "other" writer-director brother-duo. And this too is an "indie" comedy-drama about two brothers at odds with each other. What a different and how much better film it would have been, if indeed The Coens were the ones doing it. 3/10.
🍿
2012, a Roland Emmerich's big budget disaster extravaganza from 2009, about the end of the world. CGI science fiction popcorn is usually not my gig, but I stuck out and watched all 158 minutes of it. Who pays to see these kind of mindless garbage movies? 1/10.
🍿
Throw-back to the "Art project”:
Ahed Tamimi Adora.
Ventriloquist Adora.
🍿
(My complete movie list is here)

Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen started a podcast in February -- called Renegades, it's a series of conversations between the two originally recorded during the first wave of the pandemic in summer 2020. And one recurring thread in those conversations is a shared passion: the love of their country, despite its flaws and troubled history (and present struggles).
Now those conversations have been turned into a book, full of personal photos, artifacts and notes alongside the words. Springsteen and Obama sat down with NPR's Audie Cornish to talk about it -- check out that conversation here!

Squawking Owl
"In the 70s before multi effect pedals were born, and before I ever saw a pedal board, I built the Squawking Owl. Had a homemade power supply and Guitar Sound Intensifier homemade (as it was named in a Popular Electronics magazine), along with Electro Harmonix V1 Big Muff Pi, V1 Small Stone Phase Shifter, V2 Electric Mistress Flanger, V1 Octave Miltiplexer, with some custom switching for the fuzz and the order of phase before/after fuzz, a switch for my 60s Echoplex for on/off. Homemade wooden case and a vacuum cleaner cord for power. That along with a Morley power wah/volume was all I needed for most of my live playing days."

Okay random question...
Have you heard of “The Dog and the Sailor”? It is a book written by Pete Jordi Wood, a Cornish author. Mr. Wood here searched long and hard throughout the Aarne-Thompson Index to find a fairytale with queer elements - to also highlight how the Index actually erased purposefully all mentions of homosexuality, male or female (since Mr. Thompson believed that those were unnatural perversions that should not be included in his search for folklore).
Mr. Wood ended up finding one story with strong homosexual elements - a story called “The Dog and the Sea”. Mind you, it is an English translation of the original title. My question would be... does anyone actually know this tale in its original form?
Pete Jordi Wood explained in interviews that the tale itself was never translated or published in English, but it still exists nonetheless in several cultures: the tale has a Danish version, a German version and a Frisian version, among others. I tried to do a quick digging but found absolutely nothing. Does anyone knows of the original tale? I am really curious to know what it is like.
Mr. Wood briefly explains that this weird tale is about a young man with an overprotective mother who wishes to be a sailor, and goes on a great adventure, only to win the hand in marriage of a beautiful prince. He also mentions the presence of a beautiful witch as a villain in the story, and that the sailor is the only one able to defeat her evil because he can resist to her seducing beauty.
He also says that it is present in the ATU Index, with a synopsis. So... does “The Dog and the Sea” rings any bell? German or Danish friends?
EDIT:  Additional info - apparently the first documented version of “The Dog and the Sea” can be found in the works of the Danish folklorists Nikolaj Christensen and Jens Kamp (mid 19th century).
EDIT 2: I found mentions of a translation in English of Danish fairytales, under the name “Tall Tales”, however here the collectors are said to be Nikolaj Christensen and Niels Levinsen. But I also found mentions of two separate Danish fairytale collections, one done by Evald Tang Kristensen and the other done by Jens Nielsen Kamp.

Pete says, “Patrick’s so modest,” and then kisses Patrick’s cheek because he can do these things now.
Patrick blushes harder. “No, I really don’t know anything about Cornish hens.”
“Just like you didn’t know anything about sugar cookies,” Myrtle says.

The Virtuoso movie cast and director take pictures at Doc's at the Rocks restaurant where they filmed their "Rosie’s Cafe" scenes in March 2019. The restaurant is overlooking the Ledgedale area of Lake Wallenpaupack, Pennsylvania, USA.
1st pic, from left to right: Nick Stagliano (Director); Abbie Cornish (The Waitress); Anson Mount (The Virtuoso)
2nd pic, from left to right: Diora Baird (Johnnie’s Girl); Richard Brake (Handsome Johnnie); Eddie Marson (The Loner); Anson Mount (The Virtuoso); Pete (Doc) DeSalvo; David Morse (Deputy Sheriff)
Doc's at the Rocks website says of the filming: "The film crew, with over three dozen staff, trucks, bright lights, and all night filming transformed the restaurant and parts of the community into a movie magic experience that hopefully will become a living part of the silver screen in about a year from now. It was truly fascinating to watch the restaurant, draped in a black cloth to simulate nighttime, become the centerpiece of a film filled with deception, lies, and of course, murder.
The production will also be filming at several other locations in the Pocono area that will include a seedy motel, farm house, gas station, secluded cabin, and an explosive scene in the city of Scranton.
Anson Mount plays an accomplished assassin who lives off the grid and has the pseudo name The Virtuoso. The Mentor, Anthony Hopkins, who assigns the targets, gives The Virtuoso another contract to fulfill at a small country restaurant with very little information regarding the target other than a date, a place, a time, and a two word phrase to go by. To divulge any more of the plot would give too much information and spoil the twists and turns of the story. Let's just say, things are not always what they seem. It took one week to make Doc's At The Rocks into an infamous country restaurant/bar (Rosie’s Cafe) with a deep dark secret that will hopefully be shown on film in the near future."
