Normally June isn’t one of my favorite issues of the year, but I actually think there are some interesting things to look at in this issue – at least in terms of trends and popular styles that are coming out this summer. As always there’s a lot to see, so let’s take a look!

Ya know, I'm kinda tired of the "all surviving autobots become Maximals, and all surviving decepticons become Predacons" trope.

This just doesn't seem to be practical or realistic. There were some pretty scuzzy autobots, as well as some decepticons who might like to get as far away from "decepticon" as possible.

As well as if Predacons had as tough a time on Cybertron as Dinobot suggests, I'd think that there'd be a few former autobots who would be standing up for them. The same way they stood up to the Decepticons of old.

Why imagine Optimus Prime running the Maximals, instead of living factionless in secret, and standing up for disenfranchised Predacon individuals who are being bullied by maxcops, or not allowed jobs?*

Wouldn't First Aid, Fixit, or Ratchet be running free clinics in Predacon neighborhoods?

Perhaps Thundercracker seeks to redeem himself, and joins the Maximals as a military flight instructor?

(*This is not the same thing as condoning criminals like Megatron and Cryotek, or supporting hostile rogue-state behaviors by the tripredacus council and their secret police)

Ohh I love your daisy time travels and jon suffers series because their dynamic is just so, so interesting and you write them so well???I don't really have a question I just wanted you to know that I spent a LOT of time thinking about the emotional minefield that is original timeline jon... Like how will the idea of some supposedly heroic future version of himself affect jonathan 'inferiority complex' sims?

What inspires more guilt in daisy, the way she couldn't save her original jon, the way she probably still misses him when interacting with new jon, the way she maybe didn't miss him /enough/ and ended up treating them as interchangeable? Will they ever talk about all these complex feelings?? Probably not because they are disasters and this is why we love them 2/2

aaahhhh, thank you so much!! Jon dealing with the concept of heroic future him (and finding out that original timeline jon was just as much of a scared mess) is definitely coming up before i finish lfl,bwtf. It was going to happen in the original draft of chapter 9, when they were gonna have a lil interlude at like a gas station to buy jon like gatorade and stuff to sip on on the way home, but it didn’t feel emotionally authentic/earned yet and whump brain said ‘actually what if jon has a fever?’ Also lost with that draft: Daisy having a short freakout when she realized she was Hunting the one other customer in the store and trying to keep repressing/redirecting that energy.

I think daisy probably feels guiltiest about treating the jons as interchangeable, both because it’s what got her in trouble with new jon and because she has to be more conscious of it now to avoid treating them as interchangeable. But also to some extent bc she does see them as interchangeable in other ways- they’re both jon, even if new jon didn’t go into the buried with her etc he’s still fundamentally the same person. the ways they and their relationship changed were important, but they also took place over a brief enough time that they could only change so much. vs if she say, went back and ended up with a teen, child, or research era jon (yes i have plotbunnies for all of these, no i shouldn’t start them until lfl,bwtf is finished and ttab has a better backlog) and would have to confront the ways time changes a person in a much more profound way. like, jon circa MAG 160 has what, a year’s worth of lived experience on jon from MAG 92, with the coma and all? And even if they weren’t friends, daisy was there for all of that, and saw post-prentiss jon even before they interacted with any regularity. whereas researcher or teen or child jon has WAY more difference in lived experience/supernatural knowledge/etc. like does teen jon have the same self sacrificing streak that adult jon does, or did he develop that later? how much do you have to change before you’re a different person?

also all the alt daisy kidnapping jon fics (including a planned scene for ttab lol) have daisy having a lil freakout about No Scars Jon, since she didn’t meet him until after prentiss- and then prolly something happens that results in scars and she has a freakout that poor oblivious jon has to take Some Kind Of Way.
