wait Furiosa was really good actually, why did it flop?
#furiosa#mad max fury road#i had full intentions of seeing it in theaters and then life got swamped in may and by the time i had a free night it was out of theaters#and i was really bummed because i was looking forward to seeing it on the big screen#but anyways i finally watched it and it was good?? why did it do so poorly?#it wasn’t fury road but it also wasn’t trying to be?#the chase scenes (which are a core asset of the franchise lbr) i felt were on par with fury road#it’s all the other stuff that’s different#but that’s a good thing! it should be different because it’s a different story!#Furiosa (char) and Max worked so well as parallels#but in order to make that parallel interesting instead of redundant you have to change your storytelling a bit#Furiosa (movie) takes place over the span of 15 years whereas Fury Road takes place in 3? days#so yes Fury Road is going to have a faster pace#but taking the time to slow down for some world building and character development in Furiosa is not a bad thing?#and people complained about the CGI and usually I am the first person to jump on that#and yes there were some scenes that I think the CGI was a bit off#however.#you can see how much work was put into practical effects and stunt coordination#so idk personally think they should get a pass#mad max

They really erased Sokka's misogyny and it's fucking weird. He met Suki and he just admired her ? He doesn't have his sexism getting beaten out of him ? It immediately jumps to idolatry and romance ? Where's the character development in that !!!
#I've only watched the first 2 episodes for now#the show is good actually but some points make me gneh#where's Zuko's anger ?#Where's Sokka's misogyny ?#BUT the cgi and effects are really good !#it's visually pleasant to watch#atla netflix#atla live action#atla show

Ok but Silent Hill 2006 is really good from a horror movie perspective
#at least that’s what I think#I know it’s not super accurate to the games but#the practical effects#the creepy atmosphere#the monsters being actually played by people and not CGI#it’s really good as a horror movie#silent hill#silent hill 2006

The whole "cGi iS rUinInG mOvIeS" is so wild to me because like. I'm a HUGE proponent of practical effects. I mean, I'm a theatre worker and moreover a props artist, practical effects is what I do. But it really bothers me when I see pro-Practical FX people proping up practical effects by shitting on CGI. Both have their place in film and we can prop up one without demonizing an entire profession.
#and before anyones like “really?? coming from a *marvel* blog??” like yeah. i know Marvel relies too much on cgi. im not fucking blind#i just think that we can have it both ways and it feels especially bad when the reason cgi has beomg used so much more is because they dont#have as good a union as set designers/stagehands/props artists/costumers/etc#and i know not everyone is doing this#but someone who reblogged one of my posts had this whole anti cgi tyraid that it felt like boiled down too#practical effects are better than cgi in every situation ever and movies used to achieve certain effects by being creative and just really#demonizing cgi and tbh I don't think thats the right approach#its like everything else. both have their strengths and weaknesses and an overreliance on one or the other is gonna hurt the final product

📽 action!: rank all six of the films (or three if you're a hater)
Answers for this LotR ask-game.
Ahh okay so at this point I have to confess something terrible: I still have not seen the third Hobbit movie. I'm sorry! I just couldn't do it. The fuckery of it all, especially in the second movie with Mirkwood and Thranduil and Legolas ("a lowly Silvan elf" what the FUCK what the fuck PJ WHAT THE FUCK), was just too much for me. Character-assassination is one thing, and I thought after Denethor I knew what I was going to be getting with Thranduil but NOPE! It was literal world building assassination and I just CANNOT.
Don't get me wrong, Lee Pace did an amazing job and actually seeing Mirkwood was amazing and it was genuinely delightful to see Orlando put those ears on again; but the OuTrAgE that filled my heart at the yeet-ing of what minimal canon we even have for the Mirkwood elves was just intolerable, and while I did mean to go see it, really I did, I just...couldn't actually get the motivation to go before it was out of theatres. I've heard the EE are better (less studio fuckery) so I'll watch them someday! Honest! I just...haven't. yet.
And as to the Lord of the Rings trilogy...man, I don't even know how to do this. In terms of which is the best film, or in terms of which one I enjoy watching most, or in terms of which on hits me in the heart hardest or...? I don't know if I can objectively rank my feelings about these movies even in my own brain because RotK ends with Into the West and I have FeelingsTM about the Undying Lands and Sea Longing okay. So the last scene of RotK at the Grey Havens is a fucking spear through the heart every time and I can't even describe the knot of feelings it engenders, and I think overall TTT may be my favorite but also it has Plot Issues that piss me off even more than the Plot Issues in RotK I think,...yeah, we're going to do this in terms of Film Crafting rather than personal favorites because I'm having too many feelings lmao. So! In order of most-well-done-movie to least:
Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
Return Of The King
The Desolation of Smaug
An Unexpected Journey
#look there are some REALLY LOVELY MOMENTS in the hobbit movies#(all three of them; i've seen enough stuff floating around the internet to know that even about the one i haven't actually seen lmao)#but the ratio of beautiful moments to what-the-fuckery is just so skewed to the latter#and the cartoonish unreality of most of the effects do NOT help#it's like somebody watched the mumakil bit from rotk and went ''more of that but dial it up to eleventy-one!'' and i just...#do y'all know how FUCKING EXCITED i was to see the White Council???#to see GALADRIEL?#to see sauron thrown out of dol guldur? TO SEE THE WHITE COUNCIL!???#because as soon as i heard ''three movies'' i knew I KNEW (i hoped) that they had to be adding that it#because how the fuck else were they going to pad-out that tiny little book into three whole movies? OBVIOUSLY with the white council!!!#and then...we got a chase scene in the mines that made the podracing look like it deserved an oscar#and the most cringe-inducingly-artificial cgi armies at war that i think i've ever seen even IN video games#it was like watching galactic battlegrounds middle-earth edition wtf#did y'all literally just make one elf and one dwarf and copy-past them a million times into the scene wtffffff#but i still need to make it clear that i DO love the good bits that's what makes the bad parts hurt so much!#like: does the fact that the elves coming to helm's deep make no sense and also VANISH from the plot as soon as it's over irritate me? YES!#but the battle itself is filmed with so much HEART that i don't care I DON'T CARE#i still cheer at ''no orc horn'' i still weep at haldir's death (GODS that MUSIC!) i still watch the whole thing RAPT and ENTHRALLED#but 80% of the hobbit's actions scenes don't DO anything they're just empty pixels with less purpose than the droid factory on geonosis#and there should be SO MUCH HEART because that's WHAT TOLKIEN IS auuuughhhhhh#and the fact that they missed the entire fucking EVERYTHING about MIRKWOOD of all fucking places...! UGH#DO YOU KNOW HOW AMAZING THESE ACTORS WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THESE ROLES IF THEY'D ACTUALLY BEEN FILMING THIS STORY??? PJ WHY!#lotr movies#hobbit movies#middle earth asks

i know it was a joke that is sort of understandable in context so im not gonna say anything on the post itself. but boy seeing someone say "i'm also down with murdering a few actors if it leads to better movies" REALLY rubs me the wrong way
#like the context was op said 'if the gore is cgi whats the point' and someone replied 'do you expect them to just maim the actors'#then 'ohh i forgot about practical effects'#and its like. i get the joke. i get how you got to that joke. i get you didnt mean anything by it.#but 'so what if actors die as long as the movie's good' isnt uh. exactly a hypothetical is it?#like. isnt workplafe safety for actors like a huge fucking issue#both with set stuff and just. How They Treat Their Workers#like. even on safe sets dont actors srill get worked to the bone to the point theyre way more likely to like. get deathly sick or#be distracted while driving or turn to addiction#or even more outright things like. i cant remember who it was but that girl who that one director Deeply traumatized over and over again#because he wanted her reaction to truly be real?#and thats not even touching the entire world of stunt doubles#like. the movie industry seeing actors as disposable fodder as long as the movie is good is. real life.#so even knowing they probably werent trying to make light of that because like. the wording of its the same but with theirs the context#does have a /slightly/ different meaning#where the punchline is saying 'nah lets actually do (wild thing)' because taking a misunderstanding seriously can be funny#but in this case (wild thing) is actually (extremely common and fucked up thing) so its just. really not good imo#idk it just made me really uncomfortable and i needed to get it out of my system

rewatching the jurassic world series & i think people fail to appreciate the genius of this franchise, which is that the second movie was so godawful that it weeded out any viewers with taste, leaving the third free to pander to people unencumbered with standards or the desire for quality (me) who just want to see a big dinosaur try to eat a plane
#i like when there raptor went underwater#it’s changed a bit but at release it has like a 20% critics rating on rotten tomatoes and a 90% audience rating#i actually think the first one is pretty decent#like it’s not a world-changing movie or anything but it’s fun and coheres well#the second is. its a movie!!!!!!#i think the gun dinosaur was very cool and fun to watch. it was however one of the stupidest things i have ever seen in my entire life#the third is comprehensible only bc it’s so generic that you can’t really get confused#it makes actually no sense whatsoever. none of the events are connected to the other events. however. the dinosaurs are extremely fantastic#(i think jurassic park is fantastic ftr but imo jurassic world is kind of more fun to watch#like its not as good in terms of quality but that sort of makes it easier to zone out to u know#and the special effects are better. afaik it’s still a mix of CGI and practical but if not there are definitely parts that LOOK practical#and have a bit of that idk fun & charming quality)

The problem with a lot of body horror for me is it's just gross without being compelling
Like yeah you had that person tear their leg open and pull muscle away from bone in a way that's very uncomfortable... but I don't care. Or a lot of Hostel style horror for me it's just kinda... yeah... grossing me out isn't some kinda win
Cause it's not that I don't like body horror, I love Dead Space for instance which... kinda the core pillar of that is body horror if we're honest
Could be a matter of that that kind of body horror is more fantastic making it easier to digest, I will advance that as a theory, but personally I kinda think that it's more that they do something actually interesting with it
Like if I wanted to I could probably see a really fucked up leg wound (and worse) in looking online about this shitty world
Can't really find dead bodies contorted into killing machines though
So I kinda feel like it's my problem with a lot of horror, of that it's horrible in a mundane way where as I'm looking for some unfathomable secret out of horror
So there's a difference between some stabbing a person in the eye cause they're just a shitty person, and doing it to try and create a replica of an alien artifact that gives unlimited energy but also drives people crazy and then turns their bodies into horrible monstrosities
One is just way more interesting to me
#also most of that shit looked stupid and goofy and like bad cgi#like yeah you managed to make some brutal looking stuff; congratz; I don't care about that#but the actual monster stuff you did just looked silly#bleh... glad I skipped my way through out of 10 kinda horror movie (ie almost every horror movie)#the only problem with Dead Space is that I can't play it cause ammo management stresses me the fuck out#you'd think it's because it's too scary#but no; it's cause it brings out my perfectionist where I need to make every shot hit perfectly#I don't do well with scarcity; too much in my own life#which means I don't do well with horror because by necessity things are scarce cause otherwise that's just a power fantasy#but also! it's hard for me to watch stuff like that cause I get bored real easily of watching people meander#also I don't want them talking#basically what I need to find is somebody that... let's be honest; that's a cinematic artist#knows how to collect everything with good pacing; knows how to win without making it too easy#this is my curse with Dead Space; in many ways it's one of my favorite bits of horror in the world#and yet I can hardly interact with it cause of how my brain is#maybe the real Dead Space was the dysfunctions we had along t he way#but nah... too much horror is screamy backrooms; not enough is MyHouse.wad (or whatever the Doom extension is)#which... is another thing I'll never play; but I got lucky and found a video that really nailed what I needed it to#which is funny cause I don't really enjoy anything else on the guy's channel; mostly cause he covers analog horror which...#I so want to like analog horror; but I never do; it always feels so bland#all of it has sparks of brilliance but then goes way too silly with it#horror is one of my favorite genre's; which is I guess why I hate all of it so much and I'm so so so so so so so picky#legit part of my problem is there's a very real extent to which I feel like 'if it doesn't drive me literally insane; what's the point?'#like; 'if I don't have a literal break with reality and become infested by madness from another world; is it even horror?'#which I gotta be honest; if it actually happened I wouldn't enjoy that much#I want some unknowable truth... horror makes me hungry for something I can't put my finger on#like a memory long since passed#but there's stuff I do end up liking and end up thinking is effective#mm tag so i can find things later

If I had shapeshifting powers like Odo I'd turn into an orangutan and teach other great apes sign language (but for real) and ignite Intelligent Super Ape Socialism
#i may have planet of the apes on my current sci-fi roster alongside ds9#the new ones that i never watched bc i grew up on the old ones and also didn't care for james franco & his involvement lol#thank caesar he was only in the first (which ho boy has some of the worst dialogue writing ive experienced in a long time)#if they make the CGI any further realistic it will be too much. the newest one was ever so slightly too uncanny imo#they are apes stop trying to give them more humanlike gestures/expressions. ape express self & communicate emotions in ape way not human#also the story was the worst. Rise had bad 2011 dialogue but a good story while Kingdom was v bad story which is way less forgivable#its trying to do too much & thus too many threads go unwoven by the end#like clearly its laying the groundwork for Noa igniting an ape educational revolution that leads to Ape City & its scientists but it should#have been more focused on that/the ape factions. but noo they hired a pretty young actress to get in the way for 2 hours so thats where the#story spent most of its time 🙄🙄🙄#best part of the human storyline was the 5 seconds of dichen lachman at the very end#Dawn and War were sick as hell though. really good movies & the ape mocap CGI goldilocks-ed in a way we'll probably never see again bc ever#every studio is convinced hyper-realism is the ultimate universal goal with sci-fi/fantasy visual effects 🙄#ANYWAY PLANET OF THE APES RANT FOR ANOTHER DAY IF I DONT STOP MYSELF NOW ILL YAP ABOUT IT ALL NIGHT I FUCKIN' LOVE PLANET OF THE APES#if intelligent aliens exist & are aware of earth they dont fuck w humans bc they see how we treat our ape cousins in this essay i will.....

Ok last thing but I do not fully agree that.. okay well no adaption could be PERFECT but I do think crime and punishment still can be adapted very well. Listen to me. German Expressionism or Animation. Its the only way. WE CAN TRY THE GERMAN EXPRESSIONIST APPROACH AGAIN I THINK ITS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT I THOUGHT OF ALL THE LOCATIONS LIKE IT COULD BE FROM ONE OF THOSE FILMS!!! But I also think it works best in the form of a mini-series vs a movie.
#or we will FUSE THEM#I GENUINELY WANT GERMAN EXPRESSIONISM TO MAKE A COMEBACK. I adore it SORRY.#Also there probably are also really good styles mediums etc for this but i like the#But animation has a crazy amount of potential with the right styles im so serious#I fear if i keep saying this with animation then it will be a monkey paw curls situation and we get something really ummm Bad#2007 being a miniseries definitely helps it being regarded as the best from what ive seen#Im still so baffled at the last episode though. You were doing SO GOOD. no budget for a 9th episode#we spent it all on the epilogue :(#i cant think about that awful cgi and effects ill laugh for hours again.#If i remember it. I could compile styles... perfect for it...yes... l love to dream...#I say this as if i am not a guy who can draw and try and emulate what i think the ideal would look like#Well we need inspiration boards anyways so its fine#THE RAMBLERRRRR

I realized I probably shouldn't hop on a post and just will make my own little vent about CGI.
I'm real sick of people shitting on CGI just for the sake of it. It's giving Luddite tbqh.
You guys know that CGI is still painstakingly made by artists, right? It's an exploited industry rife with abuse full of people who care about their craft.
Like, look, I get it, I like shitting on it too- I also like practical effects a lot! Both would be fantastic!
But I also know people in the VFX industry are exhausted from being belittled and invalidated on all sides when they work really fucking hard and make a lot of genuinely amazing things.
I don't want to make anyone feel like shit for enjoying a joke or having a laugh, and I certainly don't want to dismiss legit frustrations with the industry.
But can we like give artists a little bit of a break? Could we stop feeling so entitled and arrogant towards these people? It's hard enough for artists as is.
#i hope this doesn't blow up#but on the off chance this post is about people who just hate CGI basically on principle#and the 'i don't care if the CGI is good it should have been practical effects' image really ticks me off#i love practical effects with all of my heart and soul#CGI and practical effects are beautiful women who should be passionately making out or cuddling#i know this post is whiny but I'm a very tired artist trying to break into industry and I've been kicked a lot while I'm down so#I'm just going to bat for my peers#and also venting#also a lot of this anger is fueled by the fact VFX artists are very exploited in industry and then just thrown as lambs to slaughter#by the companies and the public when projects fail to look good

alright i’ll say it. i don’t hate the new netflix atla
#first off impeccable casting#costumes good. sets fine.#cgi tolerable for a series#esp bc uncannyness is from sticking to animated character designs methinks#the one thing i truly don’t like is the tell-not-show thing they have going pn#‘i’m sad’ says sang because he is sad. etc etc#but i’m actually really enjoying the extra flashbacks and they’re using them to good effect!#they’ve cut a bunch of the og filler eps for time clearly#but that means they’re missing a bunch of character work that happens during those filler arcs#so they put some character work into the flashbacks instead#it’s great#the tone is markedly different#which is why i think it’s best viewed as supplemental material after having seen the original#every semi-adult fan loves to talk about how hard aang has it as this baby avatar dead for 100 years#that’s a major angst point in the show itself. it only comes up later#here they’re really digging into it. at the expense of his funney jokes tm. so if you’ve already seen the original show#and u know what animated aang is supposed to be like#all this stuff in the live action can be seen as supplemental character work#and i’m enjoying seeing bits and pieces we didn’t get to see before there#meg speaks#meg watches atla netflix#atla

despite how unwell mj was during this is it... he actually looked pretty darn good in the smooth criminal video that was going to play before he performed. he acted out a whole movie scene. he looks like hes from the 80s there
#he looked so badass#i actually cant really get over smooth criminal atm#i just love the mafia shit#i said the other day watching the bad25 doco with my parents#smooth criminal reminds me of slapstick cartoons. but if it were live action. with zero cgi. just pure practical effects#and really good acting and dancing#god i miss when movies and even music videos relied on practical effects#just makes them look SO much better#cgi is good if you dont rely on it 100% of the time and if it doesnt look like absolute shite/rushed#ramblings#thanks for coming to my ted talk#though i do like older cgi becacuse nostalgia but that's the only exception

all i want is to just watch a fucking series where it’s mocked up as if it’s one of those ghost hunter shows and it is, except the ghosts are real, and in this series, that’s just a natural accepted concept. they see bits and pieces of evidence but really theyre there to make sure it’s not any man made intereference. the longer they stay the more the paranormal activity happens (or maybe doesnt happen) until the spook does something huge and aggressive, and then they leave. It’s the middle of the episode and the team lead is talking to the camera ‘well we checked our bases, made sure it wasnt man made interference as much as we could, but we got some great shots, a lot of good evidence, and especially with that last bit of activity; we’re gonna get in our other squad in to determine what kind of ghost is here.’ and then we see THOSE guys figure out what the ghost is, and then a third team goes in to deal with the ghost, you know, cleanse the area, expel ghost, exorcise and what not.
#i just want a ghost hunting show where the ghosts are real#thats all#with amazing practical effects and maybe little reliance on cgi#or at least really good cgi ig#give me real spook shows :<

(virgin!luke cooper x fem!reader) in where your boyfriend invites you over to his house to watch a movie, but there seems to be a change of plans not long after you arrive content: pure smut (p in v), y/n is also an intern, fluff a bit? definitely not proofread a/n: kinda got obsessed with the way luke looks like he's never felt the touch of a woman (this is a very self serving write) THIS IS A WIP FROM A VERY LONG TIME AGO and i'm not good at smut sorry
--
in an act of courage, luke had invited you over to his place to watch a movie- which meant he hovered around your desk all day pestering you until you begrudgingly asked him what he wanted.
"come to my house" the words blurted out of his mouth, more blunt than he intended. "tonight, i mean- please"
your features softened as you listened to luke's proposal, finding it absolutely endearing how his nonchalant demeanor did an 180 when he was around you. his hands were stuffed in his pockets (probably to hide the fact they were shaking) and he was looking off into the distance as he spoke to avoid eye contact. he only periodically looked down to make sure you were still listening. which, of course you were.
that's what he loved about you.
you were the only person (other than his two friends) who could stand listening to his endless ramblings about whatever movie had his attention at the moment.
and that night was no different.
luke had picked inception (how he already had the DVD you had no clue, since the movie only came out 3 months prior) and was explaining in great detail how the effects for the café scene were done.
he sat crossed legged on the couch, dark eyes vibrant as he excitedly spoke.
"so basically they took like a shitton of plate shots of all these things just flying in the air-"
you had absolutely no idea what a plate shot was but that didn't matter. you were just happy to see him so passionate. it really surprised you how talkative he could get since he was always so quiet at work. and as he rambled on your eyes got lost in his features, the way his curls lay on his head, the softness of his cheeks and his smile...
"y/n?"
"sorry- what were you saying?"
luke grabs a bit of popcorn before continuing. "i said nolan is like a fucking genius when it comes to special effects. practical is ALWAYS better. none of that CGI crap. speaking of, I went to go see transformers and-"
you cut luke off with a kiss, the popcorn in his hand immediately falling out of his grasp and onto the couch. you tongued him deeply, hands lightly tugging his hair. luke responds with a moan, somehow finding the confidence to guide you into his lap to straddle him. he'd watched enough movies to know where this was going.
but once you had reached down to the bulging crotch of his sweats, his breath hitched, and he slightly pulled away.
"oh.. sorry-" you murmured.
"uh- no it's okay it's just-"
"we can take things slow-"
"no it's- i haven't done this... before..."
oh. oh.
well that made sense. it made perfect sense actually. between the both of you, you had always initiated anything intimate. luke always completely fell apart whenever things got a little pg-13. you thought he was just shy.
he must've noticed your surprised expression, because even in the dark of the living room you could tell he was blushing. you brought your head down to put your lips against his again, caressing his cheek.
"I don't mind" you whispered.
and that's how you both ended up on the couch, half naked. luke didn't have any condoms, but luckily you had a hunch this would go down when he invited you over, so you had some in your bag.
as you lowered yourself onto him, luke let out an embarrassingly loud mewl, your wet cunt cocooning his cock.
this was nothing like the movies.
absolutely nothing like them.
no matter how it was done, no close-up montage of half naked celebrities getting it on could ever compare to the euphoric feeling of you on top of him.
and you hadn't even started moving yet.
wait, you hadn't started moving yet?
luke eyes shot open, lifting his head off the back of the couch. you tilted your head, looking down at him with an intrigued smirk.
"you okay?"
his gaze flickered over your figure once before he gulped and slowly nodded, unable to open his mouth in fear of letting out another embarrassing sound.
despite luke's assurance, you seriously considered simply getting off him and just giving him a blowjob. i mean the poor boy looked delirious, body trembling and all.
but before you could act on your thought, a shock of pleasure coursed through you. luke had begun to roll his hips, his face still wearing a strained expression as he familiarized himself with the feeling of sliding in and out of you.
in response, you matched his slow rhythm then gradually picked up speed, coaxing him to follow. immediately, his jaw fell again, his eyes shut tight.
"ah.. fuck- fuck- shi- oh my god" he heaved and groaned, gripping your hips harder to guide your movements.
with how things were going, he was about to skip to the third act and didn't want to disappoint you by pushing things along too quickly. but god you were making it hard for him to hold back.
reaching a hand to his curly mess of hair, you combed it back and kissed his forehead. "look at me.." you whispered into his ear, the hot air sending a shiver down his spine.
luke opened his eyes and stared up at you riding him. only the flashing light of the tv behind you provided any illumination, the sounds of grunting from the fight scene playing mirroring both of your own moans. the way it brought out your silhouette was almost angelic to him, like a perfect movie still.
he wished he could capture it.
but a frame is short, just like how long he could hold out.
with a couple of deep moans followed by a high-pitched whine, you felt the warmth of luke's release through the condom. your body twitched from the sensation and as you continued to grind your hips to bring him down from his high, you reached yours, your moan a perfect soundbite into his ear. something that's definitely going to echo in his mind forever. you lazily draped your arms around his shoulders trying to catch your breath, when you felt luke shift underneath you.
"oh wait fuck-" luke tapped your shoulder and pointed to the tv, turning up the volume with the remote. "this part is so good- watch watch-"

About bootlegging Good Omens...
I don't have the ranges to reach a lot of people, but I'm going to say this nonetheless.
If you feel like you can't bare anything that NG has ever created, you don't want to hear about Good Omens, Sandman, Coraline etc. ever again, that's perfectly fine and a decision to be respected. Quite frankly, I've found myself feeling uneasy while I tried to read Sandman recently because I can't stop perceiving it through what I found out about the author. Hell, even the sex scene in Stardust doesn't sit right with me anymore...
BUT
If you are still a fan of any of Neil's ongoing franchise (GO, Sandman, DBD, Anansi Boys) and choosing to bootleg them just to "punish" him - think again. Neil's current net worth is $18M. Even if he doesn't ever earn another penny, he can spend up to $0.5M a year and live to be nearly a hundred without a care in the world.
What you'll actually be doing is informing the streaming networks (Prime and Netflix) that Neil's franchise isn't worth investing in anymore. And, as a result, you guessed it - the shows you still love WILL get CANCELLED. Make no mistake, just because Prime has greenlit Good Omens s3 doesn't mean that can't pull out on a whim.
Neil hates showrunning, he said as much himself. He's only persevering on Good Omens because he'd made a promise to Pratchett. So let me say it again: by bootlegging, you won't be punishing Neil. You'll be punishing YOURSELVES by literally telling the networks to cancel the show, because they won't get any money out of it. Or, if not cancel - limit the investment, as they did with GO s2, which will result in shorter episodes (in case of GO right now we're looking at 6x45m... would you rather get 6x30m instead?), fewer extras, lower budget on CGI and sets, and overall poorer quality.
In other words - you'll be cutting multiple artists' income. I'm not talking about top-tier actors like MS or DT - they'll do all right either way (although MS will mostly likely be heartbroken, as we know how much he loves Good Omens). I'm talking about all the extras and less known actors who perform minor roles! I'm talking about everyone involved in the production - in making of the sets, in creating the special effects, hell, in carrying equipment and pouring coffee! Those are the people you'll be punishing.
Seriously, aside from his promise to Terry, I'm convinced Neil couldn't care less. Otherwise why would he be so adamant about wrapping it up in just 3 seasons when it's winning distinction after distinction?
Last but not least, watching Good Omens legally and buying franchise doesn't harm the victims. If Neil really committed the atrocities he's accussed of, he'll be punished by the court! Punishing Neil isn't your responsibility!
So before you make a decision, please remember:
if the show you bootleg is cancelled as a result, you will have punished: yourself, the fandom, all the artists and people involved in the production
punishing Neil is NOT your responsibility
wanting the networks to continue the franchise you like doesn't harm the victims
