~â~ ~â~ ~â~ ~â~
Poison has been sick for the past few days. It was nothing serious, but they didn't want anyone else to get sick. So because of that, Rosho, Rei, and Sasara's plans had to be postponed. It was killing them softly.
The rap trio sat in Rei's living room, staring at the small jewelry boxes that sat in front of them. They had lost count of how long the boxes had been sitting there. They bought them around the time Poison got sick and wasn't expecting them completely shut everyone out til they got better. They understood why and appreciated how careful they were being, but they were starting to miss their caffeinated gremlin and was itching to give them their special gifts.
"How long are they going to be sick?" Sasara whined as he laid his head down table. "I don't think I can wait much longer. Can we just leave them by the door with a sign?"
"What? No! That's not romantic at all" Rosho answered. "We have to make this special."
"Especially with how much we spent on the rings" Rei sighed.
"You were the one who spent so much money for the ring" Rosho raised a brow.
Rei smirked and shrugged. "I just know what they like"
"You're trying to do us. That's all" Sasara joked
"Oh, if I wanted to, I would of. But its not a competition" Rei shrugged.
"You had help from yours sons to pick the ring." Rosho rolled his eyes.
Rei just chuckled again as he picked up his ring box for Poison. "They want to help."
"Speaking of your sons, how do they feel about all this?" Rosho asked.
Rei sighed as he put the ring box into his pocket before answering. "They were the ones who asked when I was going to marry them. They were already calling her mom as a joke, but slowly, I started to realize they were serious. I always thought about asking Poison the question, but I was worried about how comfortable they truly were about it"
"Makes sense. Especially after you everything has happened" Sasara shrugged. "But it seems like the boys have accepted you back as their father"
"I wouldn't say that. Ichiro still refuses for Jiro and Saburo to be alone with me. And I've been out Jiro and Saburo'a life for so long, it hard to have a connection with them. The only thing I can really say is that they started calling me Dad" Rei sighed.
"That's something" Rosho shrugged.
Rei crossed his arms. "It is. So I can't be picky. But I do get a little jealous of how fast they connected with Poison and how fast they accepted them."
"You're old so.."
"I am not old!"
Sasara laughed as Rei sent the comedian a glare.
"Well, Poison is a littler closer to Ichiro than you are. They're still figuring out life like he is. So they bond over that. But Poison has a little bit more knowledge that they can share with Ichiro. Poison and Jiro shared one brain cell together and Saburo has someone to talk anything technology too." Rosho counted on his fingers.
Rei raised a brow and sighed. He knew Rosho was right. Everything he said was true. And he was glad the boys had someone to look up to. But he was also jealous. But he knew he brought this all to himself in the end.
"Maybe things would get better. You're making progress, more than we thought you would" Sasara chuckled.
"Excuse me?"
"And that all that matters! Plus, you will have Poison and use to help ya" Sasara finished.
"My sons are not calling you both dad" Rei smirked.
"You don't know that. Maybe they will. We'll be married to each other Rei. Remember that." Sasara chuckled.
"That doesn't mean they'll call you dad" Rei rolled his eyes
"I'll do it if it'll piss you off"
The rap trio all turned towards the doorway where Ichiro was standing.
"Why?" Rei asked.
"Will it make you upset?"
"Yes"
"I'll do it that"
Rei groaned as Ichiro, Jiro and Saburo all walked into the living room.
"Oh we brought a guest with us!" Jiro smirked, taking off his hat.
"A guest?" Rei raised a brow.
"Don't worry, I bought dinner!" Poison walked into the living room as well, holding a few bags of takeout. "Guess who's feeling better-oh"
Poison watched Sasara and Rosho quickly gather the ring cases and stuff them in their pockets. "What's going on?"
Rosho's face flushed as he tried to act casual. "Nothing!"
"Surely doesn't look like nothing. You look like you just murder a guy. I thought you three would be a bit more happy to see me" Poison chuckled as they put the takeout bags on the counter.
"Oh don't mind him. He's a bit... stressed about paperwork" Sasara got out his seat and kissed Poison's forehead. "You look like you're doing better"
"Thanks. I should be after all the medicine I took" Poison sighed.
"Game night was boring without honestly." Jiro flopped onto the couch.
"It was. Saburo took all the fun out of it" Sasara agreed.
Saburo sent a glare to Jiro. "It's called having strategy!"
"It's called just have fun!" Jiro glared at him in return.
"I was having fun"
"We were playing The Game Of Life!"
"You two settle down. It's too late to hear you both argue." Rei sighed.
"He started it!" Saburo rolled his eyes.
"I did not!" Jiro glared once more.
Rei sighed and rubbed the sides of his head. Despite his annoyed look, he did miss this.
"Stop arguing and come get some food. I didn't bring it here for it to get cold." Poison chuckled.
"Thanks again, mom!" The brothers said.
Poison shook their head but smiled. They had grown to enjoy them calling them mom.
"Yes. Thanks, love. I haven't eaten all day" Rosho chuckled as he watched the brothers get up to get food. He kissed Poison's forehead as well before walking to the sink.
Rei sighed and got out his seat. He went over to Poison and wrapped his arm around their shoulder. "Thanks for brining dinner"
"You're welcome. Ichiro told me it's Jiro's turn to cook dinner on Friday's." Poison chuckled.
"Yes it is. And it rarely turns out well. The only good thing he makes is ramen dishes"
"Father like son"
Rei raised a brow. He glanced over to Jiro who was making his plate of food. He smirked a bit. He was proud of him. "Yeah. I guess so. Now go sit down. I'll make your plate" He kissed their cheek and patted Poison's behind.
Poison rolled their eyes and blew a kiss back to before sitting down at the table. Rei made Poison plate of food while Rosho grabbed everyone's drinks, and Sasara grabbed extra chairs for the table. This was one of the few times they all had sat together like this. It was like they were a big happy family. It was something they all silently enjoyed and wished there was more off. Sasara, Rosho, and Poison practically lived at Rei's house. The brother recently moved in with Rei as well. Why not have this happen more?
Like normal, Sasara, Rosho, and Poison all stayed the night at Rei's house. It was late, and everyone was sleeping other than Rei and Poison. Poison lay on top of him, their head resting on his chest. Poison listened to his heartbeat, relaxing as his chest rose and fell with each breath. One of Rei's arms laid on Poison's back while the other was hidden under the pillow under his head. He fiddled with the ring case under the pillows, wondering if this was the right time. Should he wait for Sasara and Rosho? He felt ready to ask, but why was he so nervous.
"Poison.."
"Mmm?" They shifted a but as they woke back up.
"Yeah?"
"Random... question"
"Random answer."
"If I would have asked for your hand in marriage, would you say yes?"
Poison hummed a bit as they shifted their postion to looked at Rei. "Where is this coming from?"
"Not sure."
"Well, yes. I would say yes." Poison chuckled.
"Really?"
"Yes, why wouldn't I?"
Rei went silent. He wasn't sure why Poison would say yes. But also he looked at himself and who he was... why would they?
"You've changed since the first time we've meet. And I know you were doing it not only because you loved me, and Sasara and Rosho, but also because you cared for the brothers. Not many people can do that. Change for the better of themsevles and the ones the love. And I love you for that"
Rei looked at Poison, tired but joyful expression. Their words sent a warm feeling in his chest. A feel that he felt so many years ago. Tears clouded his eyes as he tried to hide them. Poison chuckled and cupped his face. They caught his tears, wiping them away using their thumbs.
"I hate you.." He cried. He didn't mean it, and Poison knew it. He just hated how emotional they made him.
Poison chuckled again and kissed his forehead. Poison soon went back to sleep, leaving Rei to think more. Sometimes, he wondered who in the universe brought Poison into his life. Because he wanted to give them the biggest thank you he can. He wanted to give Poison everything. He wanted to give them the best wedding and party they could ask for. He wanted to give them all the live and care he could.
Rei took the ring case out from under the pillow and took the ring out. He sighed before slipping the ring onto their finger.
"I love you too..."

Buri-senpai~ itâs me again! It seems like the Kamado family was respected in town. How do you think the townsfolk wouldâve reacted once they realized that Tanjirou hadnât been visiting with charcoal, only to check up on the family where they see the wreckage. Perhaps Tanjirou had left a rushed note, noting how his family was attacked, how only he and Nezuko were alive, and how they wonât be able to visit for a very long time. If thatâs the case, I donât think Tanjirou will explain the cause 1/3
2/3 of the attack, but thereâs a chance that Saburo wouldâve eventually realized that a demon had attacked them. Also, side notes: if Kaigaku was still a demon slayer during the events of the red light district, do you think he would've heard about Zenitsu's contributions to the defeat of upper 6? I had read your amazing Ukogi fic and enjoyed the characterization of Kaigaku's crow embellishing his achievements as a slayer. I also enjoyed Matsuemon's fondness of Nezuko and it seems like
3/3 he was âconspiringâ (for lack of a better word) with Oyakata-sama behind the scenes, with how the events at Asakusa with Tamayo played out. I'm sure Tamayo's existence was pardoned by the Oyakata-sama of Yoriichi's time. Also, sorry for the length! I enjoy your input on everything!
Going to reply to this in a couple parts, but allow me to first borrow one of my LINE stickers to express:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/466ffd6dffa8d1ecea6aeded75662ded/8fc3dc245af9dfcd-d2/s540x810/532b2eebde13b8584e64adbe246516cc2f231748.jpg)
I'll reply to the fic stuff under the cut, but I'm really honored by your close reading and consideration of one of my favorite fics, "The Legend of Ukogi." But first for your question about Tanjiro!
Honestly, I was surprised by the village's upkeep of their home, including nice new tatami and shelves which Nezuko noticed in the extended epilogue included the Volume 23 version of Chapter 204. I would had assumed they'd have a mess of a home to come back to (and wrote my canon diverent/continuation fic that way, for the first draft was written after Chapter 204's magazine publication but before Volume 23's publication). At least nowadays in Japan, uninhabited homes are often left as-is and fall to shambles, even in cities, causing problems for the neighbors as they become home to pests. Upkeep is an issue, and it seems unlikely the townspeople would had gone out of their way to keep the site of a tragedy so nice.
However, Gotouge seems to stress that the Kamado family, simply for being good people, were often humbled by being on the receiving end of such kindnesses. Even Sumiyoshi and Suyako were on the receiving end of this, as mentioned in a Taisho Secret in Volume 22, for having helped a local lord's wife and son while they were in peril without knowing who they were. Even though they tried to refuse reward, they made sure they had a nicely fixed up house anyway (side note, they moved in to Yoriichi's and Uta's abandoned house).
A sturdy house as returns for their kindness seems to be as much of a running theme in Kamado history as is Hinokami Kagura and making charcoal. We do see that Tanjiro is pretty popular among the townspeople and everyone knows they can rely on him, and if Tanjiro's highly biased word is to be trusted, Nezuko had a reputation as a local beauty. In good whether the little kids must had gone into town a bunch, and Tanjiro (and Inosuke's) continued charcoal business (despite the increasing reliance on electricity) in the Fanbook #2 extended epilogue shows that the Kamado family has always had a reputation for high quality charcoal. Certainly, they've been well-loved long enough that their tragedy would not go unnoticed.
As further evidence of this, in the Giyuu Gaiden, a hunter even notices that on a different mountain nearby there was a family of charcoal farmers slaughtered and a suspicious person in a half-and-half haori was seen around there. Clearly, the villagers were quick to notice the incident and start looking around for the man who might had done it!
But we're still left with the question of how quickly they'd have noticed the absence, how word got around, and just how much they knew. My initial thought in response to your Ask was "there's no way Tanjiro had time for that, he had bury his family and get Nezuko dressed and hurry and go!" but then again, this is Tanjiro we're talking about. Tanjiro who faithfully keeps a diary for Nezuko no matter how tired he is, and who faithfully keeps in touch with all his penpals even with all his demon slaying work to keep him busy. If anyone would had written a letter, it would had been him.
It's possible that his reasoning would had been for Nezuko's sake. Should word get around about the incident, and about Nezuko being a demon, people might suspect she was the one who did it. Even Tanjiro had to consider that possibility when he was first shocked by her transformation, though he had the evidence to clearly determine that she was innocent. So maybe if he did leave something, it might simply had been to inform people that Nezuko still needs help, and he's left to take care of her.
To the townspeople, Tanjiro's word is trustworthy. As soon as someone discovered the incident (and perhaps a letter), word would probably get around pretty fast, and if Tanjiro had circumstances that forced him to leave for Nezuko's sake, that implies that they might make a return once she was alright. That might be what inspired the townspeople, who cared for generations about their local charcoal farmers, to have their hearts wrenched with sympathy for the tragedy these two surviving children have been through, and to try to do what they can by taking care of the house while they're gone.
As for knowing if it was demons or not, it's possible only Saburo knew that. There's so much we don't know about Saburo, but my personal headcanon is that he lost his family to demons and was rescued by the Demon Slayers. While others might have been quick to blame the suspicious man in the half-and-half haori, anything said by Saburo, a man perhaps known for keeping to himself with a sullen personality, was dismissed or taken for mere superstition. Saburo, having told Tanjiro to stay with him that night, might had already felt something was off, and when the feeling kept bothering him, he might had gone to check on the Kamado family and been the first one to discover the massacre. Letter or not, he'd have known Tanjiro survived, and might had gotten there soon enough to trace the footprints to deduce to that one of the other older children must had survived too.
Now because of fic spoilers, Bird Fic commentary below!
As I was doing my best to make that fic fit alongside canon, I tried to consider where the birds might and might not been able to influence the events of canon, and that made Denroku (Kaigaku's crow) one of my favorite small bits to work with. Even though he never makes an appearance in the story (only mentioned as a slightly antagonistic bird), he struck me as having the most potential for influencing events.
Since we see a general pattern of the birds being very invested in the Slayer they work with, I imagined that Denroku would pick up on Kaigaku's ambitions. When he got in trouble for embellishing Kaigaku's achievements, that's when he tries the reverse, taking assignments into his own talons and leading to Kaigaku fighting an enemy out of his league. While most of the Kasugai-garasu would had immediately reported Upper Moon 1 so that a Pillar could be summoned, Denroku's underhanded drive to see Kaigaku promoted is what leads to a situation the Corp would had preferred to avoid.
And that brings us back to Matsuemon, who does his best to promote his underlings' achievements to get Tanjiro recognized as a Pillar. He is protective of Nezuko, having picked up on that from Tanjiro, but honestly, I had not considered Matsuemon leading to Tanjiro's encounter with Tamayo. Letting Oyakata-sama know about it, though, that does seem in character for Matsuemon, which we'll get to!
As for why Tanjiro encountered Tamayo so early on, I posited in this Ask that Oyakata-sama probably was hoping Tanjiro would make a connection with her. Gotouge has stated that the demon Tanjiro was sent to investigate in Asakusa was Tamayo. Like you, I assume that Kagaya's forefathers must had chosen to pardon her existence out of Yoriichi's good word for her, and we know from his later mention of her to Tanjiro and efforts to reach out to her later that he's probably always been curious about a way to gain her trust.
What probably gave him the idea to use Tanjiro, a kid with a demon sister, was Urokodaki's letter. We didn't hear the full letter read allowed at the Pillar meeting, but my thought is that Urokodaki wrote highly enough of Tanjiro that Kagaya was like, "aha! This is it! This might be the person who helps me gain Tamayo's trust!" and that was why he sent Tanjiro to Asakusa on his second mission. As for whether Matsuemon knew that or not, I suspect not initially, but he might had gotten aware of it overtime and been in on the loop of birds who know this but help keep it on the downlow, as per Oyakata-sama's request. Matsuemon might had also been given special instructions to report details to the Kasugai-garasu who initiated the personal correspondence between Oyakata-sama and Tamayo. Knowing this egotistical bird he probably would had loved to brag about it, but he's smart enough and respects the Corp mission enough to know when to keep silent about his achievements.
EDIT: Ack! I forgot to respibd to your Kaigaku question. I do assume Kaigaku was still a Corp member at that time and he probably heard and that it ticked him the hell off. Even if he didn't know the details, the fact that Zenitsu would had been credited with fighting an Upper Moon would tick him off with jealousy. Not to worry, Kaigaku, Upper Moon 6 is only the bottom rung of the Upper Moons. ; P

For @smilepal who sent me questions from the -SHIP QUESTIONS MEME
1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?
Oddly enough, it was Goro who initiated the relationship. Takemura Goro is a passionate man, but not in a way thatâs overbearing, loud, or ridiculous. When it comes to Vera, nonverbal communication and subtle signs are how he communicates with her because, like him, sheâs a person of few words.Â
In his subtle way, he made it known that he was interested in pursuing her. It was a slow start because Vera was living on borrowed time with the chip in her head, and Goro was working to bring Yorinobu to justice. Yes, there were misunderstandings, miscommunication, and culture clashes, but they made it work. Â
2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?
Goro and Vera were running themselves ragged and barely had any time to go on dates. Still, when they werenât gathering intel or calling in favors, they would be in Veraâs apartment sitting quietly on the couch together watching television or just working peacefully together. Vera is a homebody, and Goro doesnât like any of the restaurants or cafes in Night City because, in his mind, it would be plain insulting if he brought his date to a place that sells crappy food.
Their little dates are home dates, and sometimes theyâll walk around the city or go for a drive.
3. What was their first kiss like?
Chaste. Soft.
It was only after the parade did they have their first real kiss. The pair were covered in dust, injured, bloody, and wound up tighter than an old womanâs purse. They argued loudly in Japanese. Goro chastised her for risking her life to save him. Vera reminded him that she was dying anyway, so her life was already forfeit. Goro just stared at her for a long moment with a pained expression before gently grabbing her by the shoulders and pressing his lips softly against hers.Â
The rest is history.
4. Were they each otherâs first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?
Goro and Vera arenât exactly blushing maidens. Vera had a longstanding relationship with a Tyger Claw for three years until they called it quits, and Iâm pretty sure that Goro had his fair share of women. Still, due to his status as Saburoâs bodyguard, he hasnât been romantically involved with anyone since. Â
5. Whatâs their height difference? Age difference?
I donât know anything about Goroâs height, but Iâm leaning towards 5â8ââ-5â9,ââ and Vera is 5â2ââ. As for age, Vera is twenty-eight years old, and Goro is approaching his fifties. Please correct me if I got his age wrong!!
6. Whatâs their relationship with each otherâs families?
Veraâs parents are dead, and the Bakkers have long since been absorbed into Snake Nation, so Goro never had the pleasure of meeting him. I donât know much about his family except that his father was a cook, and I have the sneaking suspicion that Goroâs relationship with him was not exactly...great.Â
My headcanon is that after he landed that cushy job as Saburoâs bodyguard, he used his money and connections to support his family but is still on bad terms with his father. The latter did not want his son to get involved with Arasaka. His grandmother is still alive and kicking, his mother died a long time ago, and he has a younger brother he adores. When he introduced Vera to his family, they were shocked that he found someone and were smitten with Vera. She charmed them all, but sheâs closest to Goroâs father. He found her personality endearing and wanted to get to know the woman who made his stubborn son abandon Arasaka.Â
7. Who takes the lead in social situations?
Itâs usually Goro because Vera is NOT a talkative person and prefers to be eased into a conversation instead of jumping in headfirst. Goro knows this and is extremely mindful of her low tolerance for social situations. Theyâre that one couple who rarely ever talk at social events. Oh, and heâll check in with her during the event and, if sheâs feeling mentally drained, heâs one who makes excuses for leaving.

Quick first thoughts on the first ep of the Hypmic Anime. Spoilers beware (and im writing this as I watch so :p)
Otomeâs speech is.... questionable from a persuasive point of view. Manga did a great job of introducing her (which you can read here) but they really cut out the more terrifying parts of her speech and how she uses force to show people that she's not to be messed with
Its cool seeing everyone in their respective environments though. thats cool. Though they could have added Sasara and Kuuko (shhh i know why they didnât let me dream)
I love how poppy the typography is. Its amazing how the visuals just leap out at you. The OP does a great job of this. The first few seconds before the title really gives me Persona 4 OG OP vibes with the influx of information given. The rest is a clear concise and streamlined way that still gives character. Animation is sparse but still carries across a general idea of each character and shows off each character object. Rendering is really nice and pays a bit of homage to the posing artwork thats done for the MVs. They also do their division hand signals and thats cute
Love how the OP has blatant HifuDoppo and DRB matchup foreshadowing
so far I really like what theyre going for. BB is about brotherly familial bonds and they show the goods and the bads. Jiro and Saburo bickering right out the gate really cements the fact that they get along like cats and dogs but you can still see that they love each other, working together when the situation calls for it
Now the 3d models. Theyre... not great but usable if you donât look too hard. They serve their purpose and donât actively detract from the viewing experience.
Visual typography in the rap itself are fun and poppy but they dont.... speak to me? like theyre there yes and I appreciate them but the only ones that got me excited were from Ichiroâs rap
I take my words back the group portion was kickass and I apologize
I love how they interpret the Hypnosis Speakers though. Esp. Saburoâs organs. That was super creative and I love it! If there was one thing that I felt was missing from the franchise was a deeper exploration of the speakers but the anime puts a new and fresh spin on it! Love it, especially with their attack patterns!
If the production team ever feels inclined to, Id love to see those info sheets on Otomeâs desk released. There seems to be very interesting info and stats written out about each member (like capabilities, personal status etc.) They all seem unique too so I really really really hope they release images of those sheets
OOOOOOOOKAY MTC. I have such a big biased for them so Im very torn to see what unfolds
Rio striking out on his own is interesting. Out of everyone in MTC hes the biggest team player yet here he trusts his teammates to go ahead. This either displays Rioâs willingness to trust his teammates or it becomes very OOC if the anime wants to set him up as a lone wolf like character
I love how they specify its a drug deal. It means that Jyuto surely will show up and it also shows that Samatoki knows Jyutoâs motives and willingly gives black market info that he knows aligns with Jyutoâs goal. Thats A+ detail writing there and a great establishing characteristic for both of them
OOohhhhhhhhhhhhh man Asunama-sanâs voice acting is god tier his work as Samatoki is phenomenal. He pulls of Samatokiâs threatening voice so well with those almost calm words before his voice becomes loud and confrontational. Those rolling syllables in contrast to Komada-sanâs almost lyrical and airy speech and Kamio-sanâs strict and enunciated words is such a delight to hear. It just speaks to how amazing and great these Seiyuuâs are in order to pull of such amazing work
Im so biased but MTC has such a better rap than BB im so sorry. Just by watching Samatokiâs part, the imagery is amazing. Even the arrival of his Hypnosis Speaker was awesome and sent a shiver down my spine. using the lyrics to form blades and blood was such a great thing to do. Theres so much more variety that just him standing there and shots of his hypnosis speaker. The old fashioned vignette shots, the four panel spread, the nods to old Kurosawa era films are great and I love these small details. Even the typography looks better.
Again, the interpretations with the speakers is fresh and new. Its great and I love the different imagery and attack patterns. Each one is so unique but carries across each different style of rap.
The 3d modles arenât any better tho lol
(Hi this is Astro who is reading over their assessment again and making a note. Yeah Iâm a bit harsh on BBâs rap. Iâm not going to change it since I still stand by it and this post is supposed to be a documentation of my first impressions. I think one of the reasons why Iâm so harsh on BB is because of their dynamic as a trio of brothers. They Have to have a more uniform approach than the other divisions. Which in of itself isnât a terrible thing, it just doesnât catch my eye as much as MTC did. Thats all! I definitely donât hate BB, theyâre maybe my 3rd favorite division out of the current lineup [not including TDD era teams like Kujaku Posse, MCD, and Naughty Busters] its just that their rap was pretty meh)
Samatoki crouching like a real gangstar and the cigarette kiss killed me
sadjkhfjkasdghsadjkcsdjhsdfsjhf im dying i love these trio of dumbasses so uch oh y fod someone save me aaaaaaaa (Astro note here! yeah i died when the jyuto and samatokiâs stomach growled im weak please. Samatokiâs face is just so precious and funny I might set it as a profile pic somewhere)
But also my initial assessment of Rio possibly being characterized as a lone wolf is very much jossed and im very thankful for that. It seems that Rio was simply trusting his teammates to carry out their part of the plan while he carried out his own. I like that, it really shows how much of a team these three are and that they genuinely trust each other. Heâs also comfortable enough around them to invite them to dinners after work casually and not just for special occasions.
I really love MTC guys
Oooh! we get Ramuda on his design process which is really cute. the inside of his studio is super cute and retro and i love it. the poppy old music you would hear in a cafe or 90âČs resturaunt is also really cute (astro note: yeah i know that in ARB you see the interior of Ramudaâs office but its kinda different seeing it animated)
the translation i have has gentaro speaking in early modern english (Shakespearian english for those who arenât english nerds like me) but from what I can hear, he doesnât speak in a particularly old fashioned way? Its more formal than old? and hes speaking without any of his character persona lying thing that he likes to do (as he refers to himself as âShouseiâ throughout the segment where hes in Ramudaâs office which is kind of his default pronoun of choice). so its kinda odd for the translation to go in that direction but im not complaining
Gendice banter is gold but it feels... flat? a little? it doesnât have the same impact as in the drama cds or in the manga? i feel? Also Ramuda using gratuitous english is??? idk how to feel about that
kjshf thats against the rules Ramuda omgggg,,,,,,,, (astro note again: while watching i was under the assumption that using your hypmic for monetary gain such a as buskering [which is what FP is doing] is against the rules. May not be the case but whatever)
FPâs rap might be my favorite in terms of tune and lyrics though. Itâs a nice laid back bop and really gives of chill vibes. the integration of 3d and 2d is really nice and i love how they play off each other in the rap. The wordplay is so fun with little nods here and there and the beat is poppy too so it really energizes me.
Ramudaâs rap concerns me slightly since he makes very subtle and small nods towards his past (being created in a laboratory, warfare, and his overall very unpleasant life experiences) but spins it into something cutesy. It could be a coping mechanism, it could be me overthinking it. But it does make me worry a bit. Gentaro and Diceâs rap really play off each other with Gentaro sticking to stories and Dice taking up the baton by carrying on that same imagery but putting his own spin on it.
the self awareness of how scattered they are as a team is interesting though. It doesnât seem like something youâd speak about in a rap? but i guess since its not really a do or die situation they can afford to be looser on things like this.
Right off the bat, i donât like how they handled Hifumi and Doppo in relation to Hifumiâs fear of women. Slug made a post once talking about this and I echo many of his sentiments. Hypmic has never been very tactful about tackling this particular issue and while I didnât have high hopes that the anime would be any better it hurts to see Doppo take away the one thing that allows Hifumi to function within society.
Doppoâs breakdown mirrors a lot of my own mental state when I spiral though its shown a lot quicker than what happens to me oof. that hits close to home. though Jakuraiâs advice is. Questionable. Its not the best advice to give to someone but we have no idea what kind of doctor Jakurai is so ill let it slide
Jakuraiâs pose looks like hes going to do a mahou shoujou transformation lmao
I donât have many thoughts about the rap though again. How they visualize the rap is interesting. the different imagery is quite interesting for each of them and the typography is nice a distinct but im still on the fence about the visuals here
The sound is in the same boat. The sound effects either drown out the rap or are too quet but some parts are nice at least. When they talk about Tokyoâs beating heart, the heartbeat sound is a but distracting especially since its only played once. But the imagery is at least nice
I wonder if for the eds theyâre going to take a similar approach to what Enstars did and have a four different endings, one for each division. I love the blend of styles here and it really accentuates that although theyâre different they mesh well together.
Ramudaâs silhouette though is hilarious. Love it.
:p and thats it. Uh not bad for a first episode. Established all 12 characters really nicely and their dynamics. I had some problems with it but then again nothing is perfect. I look forward to what they show us next week

Chapter 1:
âSorry, Iâm not interested. Itâs clear to me you have plenty of loyal bitches already.â, the girl scoffed at the tall man trying to âpick her upâ, âBesides youâre not my type at all.â. âAw câmon. Donât be a tsundere~â, the man Chikage Rokujou said with a wink. âYeah no, sorry. I have more important things to do than sit around with some womanizing scum.â, the girl shot back, âAnd also, let me know if any of these girls arenât in high school.â. She began to walk away, heading to her jobâs location, a maid cafe in Ikebukuro. She thought about how much men sucked, all the way from her father, to her âfianceâ, to the random men on the streets. Her only safe haven was the maid cafeâs owner, an old woman whoâd started it for fun, Amai Fukiro. All the girls called her âGrandmaâ, though. She was wise, kind, and well old. A perfect grandmother figure. The other girls, however, were jerks. As Hanako opened the door, she heard the bell ding, and the cheery call of her co-worker, a fellow high schooler, Sakura, âAfternoon, Hanako-San!â. âPlease drop the âsanâ. Iâm only a year older than you.â, Hanako replied, cringing. She was a third year at Raira Academy, being eighteen years old, and the younger girl always called her âHanako-Sanâ, which only added to Hanakoâs stress about what would be happening when she graduated. A domestic life was the scariest thing about her future. She walked to the employee locker room, and changed into the maid costume, and walked back to Sakura. âWe go on in three minutes, once the other guyâs shifts end.â, Sakura reminded. Hanako nodded, âYou ready?â. Sakura nodded happily. Hanako cracked a small smile, âYouâre adorable, yâknow?â. Sakuraâs cheeks tinted light pink, and she shook her head. Hanako returned her attention to the door that led into the main part of the cafe. Sudden;y, Sakura piped up with a question that startled Hanako. âA-are you⊠in the Dollars?â, she asked nervously. âThat gang?â, Hanako asked, confused. âYeah⊠just wondering.â. âIâm not.â. âAh ok.â. âWhy?â. âI just thought that yâknow, someone as cool as you would be in something cool like the Dollars.â. Hanako laughed, âIâm not cool, and neither are the Dollars. Gangs arenât cool. They may seem like it, but they really arenât.â. âI know but still⊠being without rules or guidelines, or even a leader? They seem so⊠well, cool!â, Sakura gushed, and turned her face to Hanako. âRules and guidelines keep the world functioning, leaders guide people away from mistakes in principle.â, Hanako replied, though she didnât mean it. She hated all the rules she had to follow. âI know but still⊠chaos is kinda fun!â, Sakura giggled. âChaos is not âkinda funâ. I canât tell you what to or to not do but please, think about the effects before you take any leaps of faith and dive into anything remotely illegal. It ruins lives, you know.â, Hanako said, grabbing the girlâs hands and looking into her eyes, âYou donât want to wind up in jail, pregnant, or with a criminal record.â. âPregnant? What part of the Dollars makes you think Iâll get knocked up?!!â, Sakura exclaimed. âNothing⊠just something I saw earlier. My bad.â. Sakura blushed and looked down. Hanako released the girlâs pale wrists, âAnyways, please donât do anything illegal.â. âI didnât ever say I was going to join the Dollars, Hanako-San.â. âI can see in your eyes youâre thinking about it.â. âI forgot you can read me like an open book.â, Sakura giggled, âAnd Iâm still thinking about it, nothingâs set in stone.â. Hanako nodded, and bit her lip. How much she wished she could be in the Dollars, free. She wanted to be like the Headless Rider, a free spirit that did what was good. She also wanted to bike like it did. Sheâd seen it once, for a moment, and her vision and dreams were captured, whether or not they could come true. Three girls came rushing in, and sighed, âYour turn. Good luck, itâs a riot out there. Thereâs a group of four with endless stomachs and two otakus. Some sort of party.â. âThank you Rio, weâll do our best.â, Sakura replied with a smile. âYeah, yeah.â, Rio said, âNow get out there.â. Sakura and Hanako rushed out, and were greeted with various regulars, and a group of four people, in their late teens and early twenties, who sat by the window chatting away. âI can handle them if you can get the frequents.â, Hanako whispered, and Sakura nodded, looking relieved. Sakura was good with people older than her, not so much people her age. Hanako walked over with a smile painted onto her face, and asked sweetly, âHello!~ My name is Hanako, and Iâll be your server today! What can I get you to drink?â. âIâll have some of the cat coffee!â, a girl in a long black dress said, her hair covered for the most part by a black hat. âAlright!â. âIâll have water.â, a level headed guy said, his slicked back black hair was under a black do-rag. âMhm!~â. âIâll have the green tea.â, a man with shoulder length brown hair said. Hanako nodded, and turned to the final customer, a boy with light brown hair. âI canât pick between the sakura blossom tea, or the cat coffeeâŠâ, he said, âWhat would you get?â. âWell it depends. If Iâm sleepy, sad, or angry, Iâd get the cat coffee. Iâd pick the sakura blossom tea if I was calm or relaxed.â, Hanako said, âThe cat coffee is more chocolatey, and the Sakura Tea has a distinct tea-like taste.â. âHmmmâŠ.â, the boy said, âI think Iâll go for the cat coffee, in that case. I want something sweet.â. âIâll have those right out!â, Hanako smiled. Â
Finally out of that damn dress, Hanako thought, retrieving her cell phone from her pocket, and reading her messages, which only bored her further. She was supposed to go home after work, but she wanted to see the sakura trees in the park, as it was spring, and they were in full bloom. She hoped sheâd get to see the Headless Rider, or something cool. Maybe then her mundane life would be a little more interesting. She was so sick of the same cycle she went through everyday. School, then work, the straight home for homework and studying. Sometimes she was able to watch TV, if she got done with all her assignments by 10, her curfew. Hanako knew sheâd be in trouble when she got back home late, but she couldnât care anymore. When was she not in trouble? At this point her father was more mad at her than not, and her mother was in America, like always, working at her fashion company. She had finally made it to the fountain, in the center of the park, to which she sat on. She pulled the book sheâd been reading out of her bag, and silently read it. It was about âHow to Live Life Like You Wantâ, another inspirational book her mother had given to her. She thought it was a sign from Mom, that maybe she should break out of the mundane, but had quickly written out the thought. Mother wanted her to marry Makoto just as much as her father did, for the same reasons too. Money, power, and title. The three things that fueled all of her parents decisions on her behalf. Sheâd be forced to forfeit free will for as long as she could remember. Makato was⊠nice, but when youâre forced to marry someone, you only see their flaws. He was quick to anger, and spoiled. He didnât know suffering, and she supposed she didnât either, but it doesnât make her any less resentful of him. He was never yelled at, didnât have to work for his good grades, and did horse-back riding. He was annoyingly perfect. Hanako hated him. She let the words of the chapter sink in, about making your own choices that benefit you. Wish it was that easy, she thought, Wish I could just leave and never look back. She shoveled the book back in her bag, and shook off her crazy ideas. She couldnât leave. Not in a million years. She sent a text to her dad, a quick, âIâm ok and Iâll be home soon.â, text. She began her walk home, and paused for a moment when she saw two of her underclassmen, Anri Sonohara and Mikado Ryugamine, walking together, most likely heading home. She was slightly jealous of them, but nothing she had confirmed, or had been confirmed. She could tell by looking into their eyes that they lived a life that was anything besides normal. She looked away for a moment, and thought hard for a moment. I could run. I could make it. I could join the Dollars. I could look for the Headless RiderâŠ, she thought, before again, shaking the thought away. She owed it to her parents to do what they wanted. They had given her a good life, and given her life to begin with, the least she could do was pay them back in doing their wishes. Besides, she couldnât leave her younger sister, Asumi. Asumi loved the way they lived though, and wanted to marry Makoto instead of her older sister. Makoto was good with kids. Hell, heâd make a great dad. And a great husband. But he was to tame. He was too domesticated. Hanako didnât want children or to be a housewife. She wanted to be free. Something sheâd never felt. She was bound by chains of gratitude, and the feeling of owing her parents. Sheâd thought about the group of friends from earlier. Erika, Walker, Kyohei, and Saburo. Sheâd picked their names up from their conversations, which sheâd been listening to as she waited on them. Sometimes, they included her, asking her questions or for her opinions. She wanted friends like them, a group of people she could trust with her life and secrets. Their smiles were genuine, their laughter full and bright. She felt her fingernails dig into her palms, and she pressed them harder, snapping herself out of her daydreaming. She let out a sigh and continued walking. Anri and Mikado were long gone, she couldn't even see them walking behind her. Friendship and⊠love, she thought sadly, Something I canât have.
She made it home with no complications, which disappointed her, but what more did she expect? Her father went into his usual rant about her being late, told her that Stella, their housekeeper, would bring her dinner at her room because he needed the dining room for âworkâ. Hanako did as she was told, and sat herself at her desk, retrieving her red folder for homework, and began on her chemistry homework. Stella opened the door softly, and said, âHereâs your dinner, Hanako.â. âThanks Stella.â. They were on a first name basis, as they had been for years. Stella was the daughter of one of her fatherâs workers' children, who couldnât raise her, and asked him to take her in. She was Hanakoâs closest thing to a friend, as they had grown up together basically. Only difference was that Stella was being paid to be a prisoner of the Ito family home. Stella placed the plate of food on her desk. âHanako, something appears to be bothering you. You can talk to me, anytime.â, Stella said. âIâm fine Stella, really. Just a bit stressed from balancing work, school, and training. Nothing I canât handle.â, Hanako replied, grabbing Stellaâs hand in her own, âBut some green tea might help, if you wouldnât mind.â. âOf course.â, Stella replied, âIâd be glad to get you some tea. Is that all?â. âYes maâam, it is.â, Hanako said with a smile, releasing Stellaâs hand. Being eighteen, a student, an heir to a multi-billion dollar company, and a full-time maid cafĂ©Â worker made life⊠hectic. She enjoyed her job. More than anything, really. Little did she know, the customers from earlier were talking about her.Â
âDotachin, donât you think that girl from the cafĂ©Â was really pretty? Her boobs were big too! She was a perfect dating sim character.â, Erika exclaimed. âFor sure! Sheâd be the mature older sister type, right?â, Walker chirped. âI donât know, and I donât care. She was nice, boobs or not.â, Kyohei replied, âDonât make comments like that about any woman or girl, got it?â. âAww man! Itâs just true statements though!â, Erika whined. âWe donât wanna seem like we donât respect women, do we?â, Saburo said. Walker and Erika nodded, âWe arenât like that at all!â. Kyohei nodded at Saburo in thanks. âHeyHey! Dotachin, we should ask her if she wants to join us! She seemed so bored with her life!â, Erika exclaimed, âShe seems super kick-assey too!â. âYeah for sure! She seems so mysterious. Sheâs actually like a protagonist! Super bored with their life and looking for change! We could be the supporting characters of her story! I bet she has daddy issues too!â, Walker gushed. âHere we go again.â, Saburo groaned. âWe canât just walk up to her and ask if she wants to join our gang.â, Kyohei explained, âItâs a surefire way to get reported to the cops.â. âAww man! I wanted another girl on our teamâŠâ, Erika mumbled. âI wanted a big sister type girl!â, Walker pouted. Kyohei sighed. Saburo laughed, âSo you thought we were going to just ask her, and she would say yes?â. Erika and Walker looked at each other. âJoining a gang isnât the kind of thing someone says yes too.â. âWell yeah but-â, Erika started, but was cut off by Kyohei, âSaburo's right. No one joins a gang because someone asks them too.â. âUnless thereâs blackmail! Or threats!â, Walker exclaimed. âRightâŠâ, Kyohei replied.Â
Hanako gripped the pencil in her hand harder, her eyes scanning the algebra questions, and answering them easily. âSimplifyâŠâ, she muttered, before furiously scribbling things down. Stellaâs home brewed green tea always made her focused, most likely because of the caffeine. Stella had left a while ago, and Hanako missed the presence of her, as she acted as a big sister in a weird way. She was five years older than Hanako, and was wiser and less driven by emotions, not to say she was emotionless. She had a very logical view on life, and passed on her opinions with reserve and grace. She was dignified, and way more suited to be the Itoâs next chairman. Suddenly, her door burst open, and she heard the voice of her twelve year old sister, Asumi, who exclaimed, âHana! I want you to paint my nails!â. âAsumi⊠Iâm doing homework, maybe later.â. âNo I want them done now~â, she whined, âIâll pay you ten bucks!â. âI donât need your money, Asumi.â. âWell I want you to paint my nails, so make it twenty.â. Asumi had no idea how much twenty dollars really was in her young mind. âFine, if you insist.â, Hanako sighed. She was almost done anyway. âIâll go get the color!â, Asumi cheered, looping her skinny arms around Hanako, burying her face into her breasts. âOk, ok. I get it.â, Hanako said, rubbing the girlâs blonde hair. Asumi ran out, and was back two minutes later with a pearl pink color in her hands. She thrusted the bottle into Hanakoâs outstretched hands, âThank you Hanahanamura!â. âI told you to just call me Hana.â, Hanako sighed. âOkok fine!!â, Asumi giggled, âDo you have time to do my feet and my fingers?â. âA mani-pedi? Donât you know dad would let you get your nails done any day of the week.â. âI know but it isnât the same as when you do it Hana!â. The sentiment warmed Hanakoâs heart, and she began painting her sisterâs nails.Â
âYour twenty dollars, mâlady.â, Asumi giggled as she passed Hanako a crisp twenty dollar bill. âThank you my peasant.â, Hanako teased. âHey! I am at least a princess!â, Asumi cried out. âYou sure are. Princess Asumi, Queen Athena, King Mirio andâŠâ. âPrincess Hanako! If I'm a princess youâre a princess!â. âUmm⊠ok, Princess Hanako.â. Hanako wasnât the same as her sister, not at all. Her sister wasnât a closed door rebellion, a secret disgrace. She didnât hate her father, or Makoto. She wasnât selfish. âMhm!~ Princess Hana and her Prince Charming, Makoto!â. Asumi had said it as a joke, but Hanako cringed at that statement. âYeahhhhhhhh.â. âMhm!~â. Stella broke the awkward situation, âMs. Asumi, itâs your curfew.â. Asumi pouted, and hugged Hanako goodbye. âNight Night Hana!â, she said softly, kissing Hanakoâs pale cheek. Hanako wrapped her arms around Asumi, and kissed the crown of her head, âGoodnight Princess Asumi.â. Ausmi released Hanako, and bounded behind Stella, heading to her room. Hanako finished her homework, and took a shower. As the hot water ran down her body, she found herself singing. âI hope you know that Iâm trying to build a life I can love. I hope I never stop dreaming, I need something I believe in.â, she sang, projecting her thoughts and feelings into the words she sang, âI dip this world in black and white, monochrome igniting. I'm gonna be a neon sign. Let the ship rest 'cause I'm lighting up the city. I don't ever wanna wake up wondering, where the youth have gone. Not gonna be another sell out zombie, wondering what went wrong. I'll never give in, I'll never back down, I'll never be another zombie in a life that's not my own.â. By the end of her âsongâ, she felt a little better, a little less confused. She stepped out of the warm shower, and dried herself off, putting on her pajamas, and laid down in bed. She decided to read, and picked up where sheâd left off in the book her mother had given her. âChapter Five.â, she read aloud, âDonât Be a Slave to Obligationâ. She was shocked by the chapter title. It was exactly what she was suffering from. She read more, engrossed by the chapterâs calling out of her lifestyle. A slave to obligation is what I am, she thought, but I donât have to be, do I?. But of course she did, she had no choice. She shook off the thought, it was ridiculous. She had to stay. For her parents, for Asumi, for Stella. She looked out the window, at the city below her, a large and vast place of different people and different groups she could become a part of. AShe could create her own group if she really wanted to. Her mind flickered back to Kyohei and his group of unlikely friends, and their connection. A bond stronger than steel, that nothing can peirce, ever. She longed for that, and not in the negative way she was feeling currently towards her family. Her mind flickered to Sakura, who was thinking about joining the Dollars, to her anxiety around people her age. Hanako ran a brush through her brown hair, her chocolate eyes fixed on the small handheld device on her nightstand. I could sign up for the Dollars right now⊠it would be so easy. âNo!â, she commanded herself, âNo more stupid thoughts!â. She grabbed her phone, but not to join the Dollars, instead to text her mother. âIâm enjoying the book you sent me, itâs very eye opening! Thank you Mother!â, she typed, and sent. Her mother didnât respond, which she expected, as it was eight A.M in New York, which meant her mother was working. Athena Ito had a strict work schedule, which included not taking breaks for texts or calls that werenât directly related to Ito Fashion. Ito Tech and Ito Fashion⊠the company's her parents owned. She finished brushing her hair, placing both the phone and brush on the nightstand, plugging the phone in, and fell asleep quickly.
