8. what inspires your art style?

I mean i'm a fanartist so i think it goes without saying that the themes and look of the media itself will inform how I approach making art for it hjdsfk . like, in my fruits basket era my style definitely leaned cutesier than it did/has for tg/banana fish/jjk. in the same vein, the work of other artists also in those fandoms has always been something that inspires me almost as much as the source material. everyone is so fucking talented sdhjhgfdsj no matter how happy i might be with my own progress at any given moment i'm always looking at other artists and styles I admire and trying to kirby them into my own stuff :)

but as far as parts of my actual /style/ tht transcend whatever fandom i'm working in, I think above all else I'm inspired by things I see in real life and find beauty in

in the past I have spent a lot of time doing more. static (?) fanart where the main focus was often the character's clothes moreso than where they were or what they were doing. ik part of that was definitely because I wasn't comfortable enough in my technical skills to push myself to draw more elaborate scenes, but it was also due to the fact that at that time in my life, I was mainly inspired by fashion and people I found beautiful. lately i've been much more focused on emotions, intimacy, and little pockets of time--i want to draw moments that make you want to hold them between your fingers before they slip away. lately i find myself thinking about what it's like to be loved or left and overall just the nature of time passing, and i think those themes have definitely made themselves known in my work. the light the colours the themes i use,,. it's all hopeful and sad and fleeting and beautiful to me, or at least i try for it to come across that way.

DAY 7 — CHRISTMAS PROMPT 🏠 + shu Itsuki

🏠  ─  decorate a gingerbread house together

He tied his apron as tidily as possible, sighing slightly in embarrassment everytime he looks down at the apron due to it's design.

The apron was the same shade as his hair with a big heart designed in the middle of it; it would've been cute if you'd worn it, but it was he who had to—however did you even managed to do that.

"Now dear, just because I agreed to do so; that does not mean I am willing to get my clothes dirty." With that, he finally finishes with his apron preparation. "Do not even try it." He puts a lot of emphasis on the not, implying that he's serious about it.

"You're no fun at all..." You sighed dramatically.

He rolls his eyes at your statement and brings his attention back to the empty gingerbread house. Thankfully, you had prepared the all of the colored icings he needed—who knows what'll he do if you didn't even prepare anything at all and then had the audacity to force him to wear an apron like this.

"I wanna help to!" You exclaimed, taking a green colored one and proceed to put the pipe close to the rooftop of the gingerbread house.

Before you could squeeze the cream out of the piping bag, Shu had used all of his fibe senses and grabbed your hand away before you could manage to ruin the house.

"NON! Just what do you think you are doing?!" He asks, his grip on yours tightens.

"Decorating...?"

"Non! Don't use the green one, at least you could've used the red one!"

"So... you prefer red?"

"Don't you even try to do that." His tone was dangerous, he was getting way too worked up over decorating a gingerbread house.

Shu coughed to his fist before proceeding to decorate the rooftop.

"Just how clueless can you even be? Aesthetics are just important as the taste." Shu said as he continues to decorate the rooftop with the white frosting, giving it a snow-like atmosphere whereas snow was piling up the roof.

"Nobody would want to eat a food that looks like it was picked up from the trash even if it'll be most delicious thing they've ever eaten—the look is simply... Uninviting!"

"Yeah... You're right... But I still wanna help."

"You can decorate the lower half while I decorate the upper half, do we have ourselves a deal?"

"Sure." You agreed, not even thinking twice about it.

Alas you two started decorating the gingerbread house. It was quite difficult for the both of you to decorate at the same time. After all of the chaos, short, petty arguments you had in the span of like 3 hours the gingerbread was finally done.

Shu sweat-dropped at the difference of how clean it is from the lower up and bottom was visible from the naked eye. Yours was the one that looked messy, yet you stood proud of the achievement you've done.

Shu couldn't help but laugh at how cute proud you look and patted your head. If you'd just look at him for a bit longer, you could've seen the pink hues covering his cheeks already.

"Good job, dear." He said, chuckling slightly.
