Celebration Inventor 19s Month August 2021
The printing press. The automobile. The internet. Electricity. Penicillin. Glasses. Sliced bread! All of these things and thousands more are inventions made my ingenious inventors that may have lived thousands or hundreds of years ago, or may even still be alive today, that we benefit from every single day.
But do we ever take the time to think about just how much out-of-the-box thinking went into inventing these things, or how brave those inventors must have been to dare to dream up and create something nobody had ever heard of before? Probably not! And that 19s why Inventor 19s month was 26invented!
The History of Inventor 19s Month
National Inventors Month began was started in 1998 by the United Inventors Association of the USA (UIA-USA), the Academy of Applied Science, and Inventors 19 Digest magazine. As Joanne Hayes-Rines, editor of Inventors 19 Digest and a sponsor of National Inventors Month, put it: 1CWe want to recognize those talented, brave individuals who dare to be blatantly creative, and therefore different, and whose accomplishments affect every facet of our lives. 1D
When we think of inventors, we usually think of people like Alexander Graham Bell or Henry Ford, and there 19s nothing wrong with that 14those people had an enormous impact on what life looks lie today, having invented the telephone and the automobile, respectively.
However, in an age of gadgets, gizmos and electronics, it 19s easy to forget that there is still incredible progress being made in technological innovation. Need proof? Shunpei Yamazaki, without whom our LCD screens would not be able to work. Mark Zuckerberg, who created the most effective way to share pictures our cats ever. Stephen Hawking, whose insightful thories in cosmology have shaped the way humanity sees the universe.
Inventor 19s Month is dedicated to recognizing the creativity of inventors everywhere, dead and alive, and of course encouraging everybody to get inventive.
How to Celebrate Inventor 19s Month
There are a couple of great ways to celebrate Inventor 19s Month. One is to think about what your own favorite inventions are, and how much you appreciate the person who came up with them. Maybe you have bad eyesight and could not live your life the way you do without your trusty contact lenses? Maybe you work long hours and your microwave is your superhero? Or maybe you 19re a housewife/husband who would go crazy without that dishwasher? Whatever your personal favorite invention is, take some time to find out a little about who was behind it. If his or her invention makes your life so much better the least you could do is show the inventor some respect by finding out a bit about its history.
Another way to go about celebrating this month would be to look into patenting an invention of your own. It is estimated that the average person has one or two ideas every month that could make them rich if they just had the courage to make their dreams reality! So what are you waiting for? Inventor 19s Month is time to get those creative juices flowing and see what you are capable of! Nobody is saying you have to be the next Alexander Fleming, so don 19t worry too much about what will happen if your invention doesn 19t turn out to be a game-changer.
What 19s important is that you had the courage to go where no man has gone before, and that would definitely make all of the inventors before you proud!

Celebration International Mud Month June 2021
We sit each day in cubicles and under flickering lights, staring at screens that shimmer with a digital world, and every day we lose ourselves a little bit to the cold light of electron pathways.
Children dive into games, experiencing narratives created by dreamers of other worlds, without ever learning to open their minds and find the narrative within themselves.
International Mud Month was created to remind us that outside, away from the geometrical perfection of man 19s world, lay the organized chaos of mother nature 19s realm, and the importance of maintaining our connection to it.
History of International Mud Month
In 2009 the children of Bold Park Community School joined forces with the boys of the Nepalese Panchkhal orphanage to celebrate the visceral and primal connection we all share with Earth and the outdoors.
Bold Park used this opportunity to raise funds to help support the less fortunate children of Nepal. Since that fateful beginning, schools, families, and ECE centers from all over the world have worked together to promote the idea that we all need to play in the mud sometimes, just to remember what it means to be human.
In 2015 it was decided that one day of playing in the mud simply wasn 19t sufficient to ground us after a year of being lost in the technological glitz and digital glamour of our modern world, and so it was changed from 1CInternational Mud Day 1D to 1CInternational Mud Month 1D, and thus the celebration continued!
It 19s not all about our personal connection with the Earth, but also about how we as humans connect to one another, and the relationships we form throughout our lives. Like any two ponds of mud, no two humans are exactly alike, and so International Mud Month encourages us to share that diversity and celebrate it!
How to Celebrate International Mud Month
First off, get ye to the mountains and fields! Out among the blooming flowers and down into the flowing creeks. Head out over the airy mountain, and through the wooded glen, and get muddy up to your neck in search of fairy dens!
Then start organizing with others to create fund-raisers centered on remembering that we were all wild once, and we should not let the digital world tame us! Get out there and play in the mud!

Celebration Audiobook Month June 2021
Who doesn 19t love cozying down with a good book now and then? It 19s a great way to pass the time and can take you on wonderful adventures in other worlds, or recount amazing lives of people in this one. Even better, there 19s little that helps one drift off to sleep as easy as a good book, though the peril exists of being caught up in 18just one more chapter 19 mode. The problem is, you can 19t read while you 19re driving, or when it 19s completely dark, can you? What if you could? Audiobook Month celebrates the invention that made this all possible! The audiobook!
History of Audiobook Month
Almost from the moment that a method of recording the human voice became available, audiobooks have been in existence. When Thomas Edison first invented the phonograph, Phonographic Books were one of the ideas that he had in mind for those who were sight-impaired. Even his first words spoke of this vision, with 1CMary had a little lamb 1D being the first words he spoke into a phonograph. A year later he demonstrated the capacity of the phonograph at the Royal Institution in Britain, where a recorded verse of Tennyson 19s poetry was played back for the attendees.
Unfortunately, his original vision wasn 19t to be, as the original cylinders used with the phonograph only held about 4 minutes of audio, and even when they switched to the flat platters the duration was only 12 minutes, hardly sufficient for the recording of long chapter books. While the 60-minute cassette developed in the 70 19s helped the situation, it wasn 19t until the invention of the CD that Audiobooks really came into their own. Audiobook Month celebrates these wonderful tales on tape and the millions of people they aid every year.
How to Celebrate Audiobook Month
Celebrating Audiobook Month is simple, find your favorite book in an audio format and try listening to it on your way to work. You can listen to it while you 19re in the shower, or laying in bed, or even riding the bus or driving in the morning. The opportunities are endless, and the types of books you can find on tape are growing every year, from compilations of mythology to books on learning a new language, and even certain forms of technical manuals can all be found in an audio format. The SAAM campaign works with a variety of non-profit organizations and foundations to spread the message of awareness and prevention through educational programs, public events, and petitions for legislative action.
