I know Lucanis sounds like Antonio Banderas but please don't forget that Antiva is inspired by Italian language not Spanish.
Just as an example the family name Dellamorte literally means ''of death'' in Italian. (''della morte'')
I wish they would include more correct accents like German (Anderfel and Nevarra), French (Orlais) and Spanish (Rivain).
#there is a reason I call the crows lovingly my italian mafia of dragon age#I guess it's just me because lot of people wouldn't recognize#at least they kinda tried some German accent with Cassandra but it was pretty bad#sad that Emmrich has non#not sexy enough I guess 😂#dragon age#dragon age veilguard#lucanis dellamorte#antiva

Brennan: in the mountains of Luxembourg
me, from Luxembourg: *gets jumpscared*
me: mf we ain't got mountains in Luxembourg
#dimension 20#d20 never stop blowing up#brennan lee mulligan#we got hills we got some dope cliffs and castle walls in the capital city#no mountains tho#lotsa woods and farm land#look at a topographical map idiot#also no counts or ppl named Otto Van Schreik but ok#we're excusing it with bad action movie writing smh#the dutch used to own our country for ages despite not sharing a border with us they can fuck right off#and the nazis tried to annex us during ww2 so anyone with as german a name as otto is also highly unlikely#there's literally a clause in our name change law that you're allowed to change your name from the german version if you want#bc the nazis forced ppl to change their names to the german version back then#we got way more french-aligned first names and a mix of german- & french-aligned last names#including like the entirety of my close family's first names being the french spelling#cause we as a country said fuck the germans after ww2#and changed all our street signs n shit to be french instead#+ then we had various waves of immigrants from different countries over the last like century#so you got lots of italian and portuguese names around too (among others)#ALSO also you can literally look up jean-claude juncker (pls note french first name) to learn what a lux accent sounds like in english#cause man does it sound bad but it sure don't sound like whatever the fuck mulligan is doing rn#update: otto not from lux he's excused

jannik’s german sounds so italian
#I guess that comes with switching primarily to italian at a formative age#I’m not a native german speaker so I sometimes can’t tell if I’m not understanding because of my level or because of someone’s accent#but in this case I think accent/dialect#got the majority of it though I think#rambles

in class today i felt so incredibly out of place again, why does it have to be so hard for me? and, i like this girl, but every single time we have class she mentions her "autism" while happily chatting with 3+ ppl at a time, completely effortless, while im sitting there, staring and trying to focus enough to even understand the conversation bc there is so much noise around me that i feel like i'm about to either explode or shut down completely and i feel like an alien trying my best to somehow socialize and understand what is going on and really to just get through this.
#i feel awful i was so close to just breaking into tears at one point#we had the introduction to greek archaeology course for the first time today and... i hate it#it is so fucking boring#the lecturer is italian and while her english vocabulary is great her accent already makes it hard to understand her but what is worse is#that she completely mispronounces a ton of english words so you constantly have to sorta interpret what she is saying#i genuinely didnt understand at least a third of what she was saying today#and its all “look this painting on this and that vase” and its basically art history and i hate art history i really dont give a shit#and then i felt like i picked the wrong study program and i should just drop out which ofc is complete bullshit bc the courses i have monda#are really interesting as they are about prehistory which i am actually interested in and its ok to not care about certain eras of arch.#we were even told that by one lectures who also didnt give a shit about christian archaeology and was only interested in prehistory#so i know its ok rationally but everything was so awful today that my brain went into doom mode#and earlier my father yapped about the election to my mom while i hid in the bathroom lol and then he said in his horrible condescending#voice how “kamala is so stupid you cant sit her in front of a camera (for an interview)” and how she is “just as dumb as baerbock”#baerbock is a german politician - and obviously a woman#there r a million politicians he could choose from but he went with 2 women#i hate him so fucking much#i am not prone to violent phantasies at all but with him its different#i wish he would just die#ok now that we are so cozy and cheerful in these tags i'm gonna go to bed to spend another shitty day at uni tomorrow goodnight#personal

Hi lulu, so i was wondering if have you played Far cry new dawn in French, does roger talk in another idiom?
In spanish he stills talk in french
Hi! Yes, I played New Dawn in French and Roger has the same Québcois accent he has in English. It even seems he’s played by the same actor, Vincent Leclerc, whose name appears among the other French voice talents in the credits.
As for some of the (Canadian) French words he uses, such as “osti”, “tabarnak”, or “caulisse”, they’re typical slang/swear words from Québec that we don’t use in France, so they kept them in the French version and they sound as funny and exotic as they do in English.
It’s rare that Far Cry characters who speak with a non-American accent end up also having an accent in the French version of the game, but Roger thankfully kept his!
#it’s a good question because yeah sometimes they have to use another language#like in the film 'ghost dog: the way of the samurai' the character played by isaach de bankolé speaks french but no one understands him#they had to change that in the french version so he speaks an african language called yoruba instead#the actor is fluent in it because from what I’ve read it’s his parents’ native language#many french characters in disney movies have an italian accent in france#and the ‘'mi casa' is french for 'front door'’ joke in big hero 6 became ‘'mi casa' means 'door' in german’ in the french version#also I’ve recently realized they switched to english much earlier in the original intro scene of inglourious basterds#in the french version it’s only when landa is lighting his pipe that he suggests they continue the conversation in english#then in the film all english-speaking characters talk in french but french people also still speak french haha#far cry new dawn#roger cadoret#I watched a bit of spanish roger and while he does use canadian french words it didn’t sound like he had an accent to me#I may be wrong though#I also watched a bit of roger in the other languages and here’s what I found#german: french accent and words#italian: no french word or accent#japanese: no french accent and probably no words (I’m not sure)#russian: no accent (I think) but french words

can someone tell me what accent nico has because I have to hunt one of his kind down for myself xoxo thanks 😘
i am going to say that his accent is vaguely/broadly european. like the femme fatale in a knockoff bond film who speaks in way that you can't quite place and is simply described as "european"
#honestly i am not sure what you would call nico's accent#i can only describe his accent when speaking english as european#and i've heard that he speaks german with a strange almost accentless accent that can't really be pinpointed to one location#but apparently his accent in italian is very naturalistic#so i guess the real answer is 🤷🏿♀️#asks#anon#if anyone has any corrections/more information please add it

Amy Walker - 21 Accents
This video is over a decade old and I can't testify to the quality of her non-English speaking accents, but the differentiation of the UK ones, American ones, and the Australian vs. New Zealand ones is great. The little riff she does about the trans-Atlantic accent always gets me:
"Oh hello, my name is Amy Walker and I'm an actress and a writer and a singer and a dancer and I was asked here today to give you an example of the trans-Atlantic accent I was trained in in 1945."
#amy walker#21 accents#british accent#irish accent#scotish accent#italian accent#german accent#Czech republic accent#russian accent#french accent#Australian accent#new Zealand accent#american accent#Seattle accent#Canadian accent#transatlantic accent#this video is how i first found out about the term for the transatlantic accent which they used to do on old radio programs and talkies#Youtube

“but sasha you just spent like the past hour complaining about having to talk to other people in french why would you want to go back to europe” easy. i don’t speak german or italian or spanish. and the awkwardness of being an english speaker in austria or italy or wherever is far better than trying to speak subpar french to a french person
#sasha speaks#have you ever spoken to a french person. in french. it's one of the most intimidating experiences in the world. it's like bomb diffusal#joke. sort of. but it's really hard :( esp cause a lot of french people will just talk to YOU in english if your french is bad#once again i apologize deeply to maxime from cameroon for my horrible french today but he was very nice and patient about it#non-french francophones tend to be more patient and forgiving about the language and with learners in my experience...#although i know he was probably like. trained to talk to learners. and not just anybody would have that kind of helpful attitude#also i think west african french accents are easier to understand a lot of times than france french or quebecois accents SORRY#idk why but i do#also for the record when i travel somewhere even if i don't know the language i do TRY to learn at least a few common phrases and words#i do TRY to be polite and learn a bit. i don't want to be an ignorant self-centered american#(my gd i am embarrassed to be american when i travel)#and in most places people seem to be cool about that#i can actually get by a bit reading italian but spoken italian is pretty much useless to me#but german. sorry guys. hopeless

Watched Obsession today and hearing Daniel Craig speak German was the best thing ever
#how he made german sound sexy is beyond me tho but he managed it#the film was meh tho#although it had some very nice parts#like daniel was good in it and very hot#it had a bela b song in it which is always a pig plus in my eyes#but the wildest thing was how the german dub voice for daniel craig in this is mark strong#but I loved how multilanguage it was actually#how can he speak other lamguages okay like his german was good and his italian in bond was okay as well#the russian in defiance therefore prob wasn't too bad but idk i don't speak russian#he could do the languages but back then couldn't do an accent and keep it for the whole film to save his life#daniel craig#mystuff

Of course I looove this flag.
A popular joke, ~ "Do you know what is good in [the country of this flag]? | I don't know; the flag is a big plus.
.
.
.
Schweiz | Svizzera | C... Helvetia | Switzerland
#Switzerland#Schweiz#flag#like#if imagine myself here where could I be? I'd never learn Deutsche Sprache (despite amazing pronunciation but not there AFAIK)#& I have kind of De pronunciation#Italian is words broken into syllables (no way I'd agree to speak)#French has a loooot of irregular verbs (the most of Romance language s?) But I'd speak normally (slight accent) if practice.#All 3 are tons of verb forms to memorise (if Romance languages then EVERY tense has its own form (& 3 endings ar er ir)#German has different prepositions for different nouns including different ones for declension O_o#All 3 languages have gendered nouns but De has neuter one in addition to F & M for inanimated objects (idiotism like Slavs)#So . . . It would be French then *sigh* my damn memory#this or that

I'm super tired rn 'cause I have gained a new obsession with Stardew Valley and I began to think about Vincent/Vee's accents...
Canon Vincent- someone you rarely see here nowadays- has a slight American accent which most people barely notice.
Vee- my take on Vincent- has a thick German accent that is hard to understand sometimes.
Final Fantasy 15 Vee- the android bean- has a French accent that is strong enough to be heard but weak enough that you can understand them.
-
Final Fantasy 16 Vee is a conundrum, however...
Part of me isn't too sure where to base their accent as they've lived for extended periods in 3 major nations with distinct real-world equivalents.
The Iron Kingdom is based on Celtic culture I imagine; given the name of the nation's capital city. So they could either have an Irish accent, a Scottish accent, a Cornish accent or a Welsh accent from their childhood.
They then moved to Rosaria which appears to be based on medieval England. So the choices are Cockney English or Queen's English; either one would sound funny comin' out of their mouth.
Finally, they moved to Sanbreque. So that adds Latin, Italian, French, German, Czech and Hungarian to the list of possible accents they could have. Considering Sanbreque is based on medieval France mixed with the Holy Roman Empire.
Do you understand my issue with them?
You have no idea how tough it is to resist the urge to make them Scottish...
However, given the fact that they moved nations 3 times, I want to imagine them picking up things from the other nations too.
They remix slang, jumbling it all together into a mess of incoherent words and not knowing the word for something in Sanbreque's language so they use the equivalent word in the Iron Kingdom's primary language.
Imagine- if you will- Vee chewing out the Dragoons for how reckless they are whilst slowly getting more and more Scottish with each passing second.
#{ 🍒 out of character post }#[Just thinking about Vincent accents when I'm half-asleep]#[Vee is the multilingual one who forgets what language goes where multiple times every sentence]#[This also lets me imagine Dion and Terrence with French/Italian/German accents]#[Hell imagine Dion barking orders in Hungarian or German and how genuinely terrifying that would be]#[Maybe I'll revisit this when I'm not yawning every 30 seconds]
