#BUT EHHHH LOOK SOME PLOT

I'm going to be honest most days I have no clue what to speak about. I sit at my Tumblr feed staring trying to think of words to say, just because I now have the chance to speak. But like what the heck. No words. My brain is empty at all times. And I just thought of something to say! Hey guys are you curious about other fics I'm working on? Which fandoms they are? WELLL!!! I have a bunch. Yes, most (read as: all that I will curently admit to) of those are si-ocs, don't judge me I have decided self indulgence is the key to happiness. So gonna list em below and watch you all slowly judge me for being all over the place. Marvel, Si-oc plot of some SI worker that just mainly sends mails to JARVIS. Look, it's hilarious. Idk yet if he knows he's in marvel tbh. PJO, si-oc, son of Ares! Me being poetic about rage for like 4k words now. That one's so silly. HE get's reincarnated though, lucky dude. (one of the ONLY ones to get there). ORV, si-oc. I love ORV. I haven't touched it in a while but man. Reader, Author, Protagonist. How could I NOT wax poetry about it. Embarssingly the first fic I worked on (ehhhh we don't mention Rem's works of fictions before the age of 16, that's between my docs and me) that was si-oc. A scorpion fic that will probably never see the light of day. It's hilarious though trust. Also thinking hard about a Naruto si-oc fic. Look, don't judge me I was raised on that stuff. The Naruto si-ocs were what got me into this stuff. BNHA made it worse. That stuff was inescapable. I am all over the place with this stuff. I get ideas and they remain in my drafts for a while. I need to do a ton of reserach every time I get set up a new idea which is soooo much time. Why can't I memorize the entire plot (I have with Marvel, sorta with Naruto, mostly with BNHA. But that's earned of years of reading their fics man) it would make life so much easier.

Rating (some of) the Overwatch men based on whether or not I think they’d watch twilight with you
This was something I randomly thought of one day and it’s consumed me lol. I love twilight but I kinda hate it at the same time. Aaannnyyywaaayy there will be some light twilight slander.
Mauga: 7/10
-Wouldn’t know what it was prior to you asking but would be happy to watch it with you.
-I feel like he’d complain about Bella being stupid
-Would 100% talk about how he could beat Edward in a fight
-like for most of the movie it gets kinda gets annoying after awhile
-He’d probably enjoy making fun of the movie with you and like seeing you laugh
Hanzo : ?/10
-honestly I could see him either saying that the very idea of watching a movie where a girl is in a love triangle with a vampire and werewolf is stupid and frivolous
-or lowkey get sucked into the story and end up enjoying it (he’d never admit that though)
-if he thinks it’s stupid he’d suggest other things to do instead of watching it and apologize
-if he agrees to watch it with you, he’d sit quietly and watch it, an unreadable expression on his face
-When the movie ends and you ask what he thought he’d simply say “It was…interesting”
-No elaboration on it
Reaper: 0/10
-absolutely not
Lifeweaver: 9/10
-Has probably already seen it before you asked but would be down to watch it again with you
-Pokes fun at the characters, but never says anything outright mean
-Though he enjoys the romance I don’t feel like he’d particularly like Jacob or Edward
-I think he’d constantly look over at you to watch your reaction to certain scenes (in a sweet endearing way not creepily or anything)
Genji: 6/10
-Well since you asked so nicely… he guesses he’ll watch it with you
-Similar to his brother, he’d think it’s stupid but would watch it and end up low-key liking it
-By the end of the movie he’d be so invested in the story he’d ask if they made another movie
-he’d probably secretly watch the next movie by himself
Cassidy 4/10
-I love Cassidy but I don’t get the sense he’d be into supernatural romance
-Don’t get me wrong if you really wanted to watch it he’d watch it with you
-He’d dog on the movie the whole time tho and make jokes
-If I’m being so fr I could see him dozing off watching it and then wake up when the movie really picks up at the end and then wonder how tf everyone got there.
Junkrat: 9/10
Ngl I’m pretty biased when it comes to Junkass, I love him sm
-I think that he’d have no idea what the movie was before you asked but would be down to watch it with you!
-I mean you must like him well enough if you’re asking to watch a movie with him…
-He’d definitely make fun of everyone
-Would probably ask a lot of questions about the plot
-Doesn’t see the appeal of Edward or Jacob at all
-Would he enjoy the movie? Ehhhh not enough explosions for his liking but it was alright
Lucio: 8/10
Again, I love him
-he’d probably be aware of twilight and generally what it’s about but has never seen it
-He’d watch it with you and joke about the characters, moderately interested in the plot
-I feel like similar to lifeweaver, he’d look over to you and watch your reactions to whatever is happening in the film
-if you wanted to watch the next movie with him he’d be down, just to spend more time with you :)
-I don’t think he’d hate twilight, but he definitely isn’t super invested in it

now that I've had some time to think about Book Three's cover/description, here are some bullet-point thoughts
The art style has vastly improved from Book One. It feels like Tillie's finally comfortable with style, and the characters here don't have same face syndrome here. Also the color palette here is my favorite of the three covers. From everything that I've read from Tillie, the way she works with color is a strong point of her work... which again, makes me wish the entire comic was in color but nooooo...
It looks like Ricca has her own cane now, which makes sense given a bit point of her character through the series is her worsening vision like... even with her glasses, she's practically blind.
Clementine has a new hat. Y'know... because her iconic hat got left with AJ... y'all still remember AJ, right? The comics don't.
Dr. Barnwell the cat made it onto the cover.... you know I'm in too deep with these damn comics when I see some random person be like "Clementine's getting a new cat" and I say, out loud, "That's Dr. Barnwell, you dingus, he's been around since the end of Book One." AS IF ANYONE ELSE CARES!
I know too much about this series, y'all
In my defense, I'm a little snappy about stuff like that after Book Two came out and people were just making shit up about what happens, going as far as to fake screenshots, and tell people it's "just like fifty shades of grey" when uh NO? it's not? People were deliberately trying to deceive others over certain elements and it still makes me mad whenever I think about it.... ANYWAY
We also see Fen and Olivia featured here, too. Fen's one of the more interesting side characters we've gotten, and I'm glad she survived Book Two, and Olivia.... I notice the way she's drawn with the front of her body hidden. I know that's probably to not show spoilers for Book Two since that reveal's a big deal, but still.
"Clementine finally has it all–a safe place to live, a girlfriend, and even a cat…but nothing lasts forever. And when Clementine suffers a loss unlike anything she’s ever faced, a new mentor called The Gardener offers her a new family, and a new way of living… but at what cost?" This is the description we were given.
First of all, Clementine had it all at Ericson, and it didn't make her happy. In fact, it made her so miserable that she left... I kinda hope this book does something with that by giving her everything she wants [as in, the safe home, a romantic partner, friends, a cat, etc] and she's STILL unhappy...? And it ends with her leaving again? But something tells me it won't.
Clementine's going to suffer a loss "unlike anything she's ever faced"? Ehhhh, press X to doubt. I played the games, I lived through all of her losses. I don't think anything will ever top seeing her parents as walkers and then losing Lee right after.
I mentioned before that the obvious direction here would be for Olivia to lose her baby, or for Olivia to die after giving birth, but uh... Clementine's been through both of those things with Christa and Rebecca... but we have to keep in mind that we're so far removed from the games at this point that it's never going to bring those up, y'know?
Real talk though? I'm very intrigued by the idea of a new mentor character called The Gardener who is apparently offering her a new family and a new way of life... but at a cost. What cost? What new way of life? What new family? Are we joining a cult now?
Listen, we missed out on the opportunity for a cannibalism plot in Book One, and Miss Morro left a lot to be desired in Book Two, so like... go extra dark this time. C'mon, Tillie, do it.
Also, Amos is definitely coming back as a twist villain, I feel it in my bones. We didn't see a body at the end of Book One okay!
I'm mostly joking but also NOT JOKING AT ALL!
My offer still stands, if Amos comes back, the book is an automatic 5/5 stars, no questions asked.
Anyway, I'll keep y'all updated on this, and when it releases next year, I'll write my in-depth review... "I read it so you don't have to" and all that.
Just as a final reminder, and allow me to make it extra big so that everyone can see it:
Leave Tillie Walden alone. I don't care if you hate the comics or think they're an insult to the game or whatever else. You want to express that, then do it on your blog. Don't send it to Tillie. We have enough pricks harassing her as is, and you're the bigger asshole here if you think it's okay to send her shit like that, so don't.
Seriously, it's the last book and then Tillie's done with the series, and I doubt they're gonna sign her on to make more. The games still exist, you can still go play them, these comics aren't taking that away from you... and if you feel like they are, then don't engage with them, period. It's not hard.
I cover the comics in-depth for people who don't want to read them but are curious about what happens. They don't bother me in that "they ruined the games" way that they used to, so I can handle it. If you can't, then do yourself a favor and just don't. Just don't!
#twdg#twdg clementine#clementine book three#long post#i honestly can't wait for it to come out so that the trilogy's done and over with and we can all move on... until skybound is like#'ah yes we heard all of you and we want to give you want you want! here's a new comic series featuring clementine!'#'and she's going to be in one of the tv shows! which one? ehhhh does it matter? and we're making a clementine movie and another game'#'and here's all this clementine merch that we may or may not send you if you buy it but it's fine! preorder now!'#sorry but like... once the comics are done do y'all really think they'll let clem rest...? i have doubts#i hope they leave her alone but you can't get milk without the cow y'know?

*4Minute spoilers if you haven't watched*
I think I'm just going to have to accept that the Sammon X BOC shows just aren't working for me. I really liked MOD, and I really appreciate what Sammon brings to BL. We're still really lacking in genre variety and adult centered shows, and I like how she's committed to bringing something more medical/mysterious.
But the BOC shows have really just drifted too far from what I'm looking for in a BL I guess. I like darker shows, but the ending of DFF (which was that even BL?) and 4minute are just too heavy on themes and mystery for me. I guess actually it just feels too artsy for me - like it's purposely being ambiguous. And that's fine, it's just that it feels out of place in what I think of and want in a BL.
The ending of 4minute just isn't what I wanted. Any plot issues aside, I am just not enjoying the couples dying together all the time trope. Even if it was unrealistic, I just want Tonkla to run away with one of these men (or by himself I guess if we must).
Yay, spoilers! (I haven't watched but I also don't care.)
Anyway, yeah.
I admit it. BOC? Not my vibes. Like, at all.
I have not yet enjoyed a BOC show. Just... genuinely? Have not. I've enjoyed some small parts but never the entire thing and never most of them.
And that's okay!
Everyone has their taste and if people can stop jiving with GMMTV or not find themselves enjoying Mandee or not wanting to see another Dee Hup or whatever then some of us can just not vibes with BOC.
Frankly, BOC isn't making BL. They're making Artsy Queer Shows.
Which, sure, go for it! Why not? We need them, no denials, we always need artsy queer shows and that's great. Please, make more! Go for it!
But BL? Ehhhh, I'd argue that BL is a romance driven genre and that they way they lean into the shows doesn't lean into BL itself and that's okay! Honest, it is! Queer shows like this are important.
They're just not my taste. And I hope that's okay.
(Sorry, BOC fans scare me. Seriously.)
But anyway yeah dying together is not my idea of an ending I want. Can't wait to watch it. Hmmm. I should 1.25 speed it, probably.
I am especially sad that Tonkla didn't get away with everything. That man deserved all his gay wrongs in the world!
And, just in case people wanna say this is a bad take because Great obviously regretted it and wanted to make up for his mistakes. That's not it at all. Great did regret the shitty things he did and that's fine but Tonkla deserved to murder people. He did. And he still does. He deserved to murder and run away and live freely and build a new life. He was the only one I even remotely cared about.
But anyway! There's nothing wrong with dislike a production company or style of show. That's okay! It's always okay to dislike or like something differently.
#no tags here#negative#criticism#please don't come at me#i am allowed my own taste#i am so scared of the boc fans#y'all they terrify me#but i will be honest nonetheless

I need your professional assessment: your honest opinion on Sally Park
'Professional'? Look up the definition of idiot in the dictionary and you will see me.
Sally Park. Ehhhh.
Sally Park is WASTED POTENTIAL of what could have been a damn good character. She could have been a queen like Mary Kim.
Big Mama of Hostel but shown doing very little of what you would expect from the interim head of Hostel B during Eli's absence. And yes, I KNOW she had the building but compared to other heads or second in command - what is actually shown of her?
What is her character? What is her personality? She doesn't have to be a fighter, could have been positioned as the brains of the operation. She survived for so long on her own in that weird condemned building so she must have some survival instincts.
Make her shrewd and wily. Hell, give her some handiness skills or tinkering ability like Winfrey in FMA. (underplaying Winfrey a lot here lol)
Instead, her main characteristic is she is part of a love triangle, a plot device. THIS IS NOT A PERSONALITY TRAIT.
Sigh. PTJ needs to cool it with the damsels in distress. Go watch some Studio Ghibli.
In summary: my opinion of Sally Park is no different to what I think of the vast majority of female characters in PTJ's works.
... I do like her hair though.
#i dont actually remember too much of sally which i mean. tells you what i think#i was excited when I first saw her though and then she just... fizzled#would be delighted to be proven wrong#lookism#lookism webtoon#lookism manhwa#sally park#another rambling from me#ramen asks

Gonna out myself here,
I really love sword art online as a series. I understand most people hate the series and think it’s trash and that’s… understandable. The anime wasn’t handled well AT ALL. The music? Amazing. 10/10. Could not have done it better. The show itself? Ehhhh… I think it’s the fact that it goes in chronological order rather than the order of the original novels which spoiled a lot of surprises with the added fact of a lot of scenes being cut from the show’s adaptation of the novels. Also probably the fact that people think that it’s a harem anime?? Absolutely it isn’t. It’s easy to make that assumption with the anime being… what it is but it’s pretty clear in the novels that 100% it is Not.
SAO was one of the first series that openly went into darker themes for me and I loved the characterization. I really enjoyed the anime the first time I watched it and looking back, yeah, it’s very cringey. But as I dived a little deeper into the fandom and started reading the novels? Honestly? So much better. The anime had a lot left to be desired but the novels were phenomenal because they explained a lot of things and generally gave better insight as to what the characters were thinking/going through. I’d love to talk about the series more but the fandom is rather small unfortunately. Especially I’d love to talk about the whole of alicization/war of the underworld because it’s really interesting from the emotional side of all the characters. The plot has some things left to be desired but I really loved the focus on emotions and mental health. I think definitely one of the things I found most interesting was the character of Eugeo and his whole fate. Kirito and Eugeo’s relationship seemed so much more… intimate than any others’ and looking back (and even back then to an extent) there was no way they weren’t painfully in love with each other. I wish there was more fanfiction about them and eugeo possibly meeting Asuna. Because I’d love to see the interactions of the two people kirito loved most and possibly more? Idk he gave me brain rot before I knew what brain rot was.
Maybe I should have known I’d get into bl considering how much I liked their relationship….

tagged back by @hex6rcist! Thank you!
under a cut since I also rambled.
1. How are you!? I hope your day is going well.
ehhhh. I'm working not a great job, but its from home and if everyone is going to be insufferable, every single second i get of downtime I'm going to be on tumblr to stay sane.
2. What are you currently working on? Any little projects of any kind you’re excited to share?
I have an original novel in the works, I'm in the brutal final stages of tying off the loose ends of the rough draft (while this advice is some that I struggle to accept, to all writers I'd like to share this: the only thing that a first draft has to be is done.), I have two on-going fics (an Aliens one that's posted anonymously but tbh you could probably find it easily) and one of Diamondback's origin story.
Her origin story is more or less done (posting new chapters as I edit) except for a few plot points I'll make my decision on as I get to them in editing. There's details from my next project, a full follow up to the movie, that I kind of want to include in an epilogue to her story, since they're scenes/plot threads tied on her character arc.
3. What have you been watching lately? I just finished Righteous Gemstones and I need a new show lol.
I'm halfway through my rewatch of Hannibal right now, and I SHOULD rewatch West World next so I can finally watch the last season, but I've been itching to rewatch X-Files for a year now....the only problem being that X-Files is nine seasons, a mini series, two seasons of Millennium (IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND), and one season of Lone Gunmen (ALSO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND). I never technically finished Millennium either, because they [spoiler] and it made me so angry at Chris Carter that I rage quit.
4. (A Near Dark one because how can I not) what’s your favorite small detail in the movie that other people might overlook?
When they first walk into the bar, Jesse kind of surveys the layout, but Diamondback immediately looks over to her right--at the bartender and the waitress, she then smiles, holds onto Jesse's arm and sets her head on his shoulder--and looks over the waitress again. Between that and her grin when the woman walked over, that whole weird thing seemed like some continuation of whatever game they were playing when she kissed the hitchhiker, which....guys, get a room. Homer and Mae are right there.
There are others, but this is the first one that came to mind.
5. What blog should I follow right now?
I'm bad at this; most people I've followed on here for literal years, or else picked up along the way when we had the same media obsession of the day.
6. Best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I said it above already, but THE FIRST DRAFT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE GOOD, IT JUST HAS TO BE DONE.
7. If you could add one fantastical element to the real world and have it be a commonly accepted and known about thing what would it be? (Ie make Santa real)
This is asking for trouble: I believed in fairies at an age that was much, much too old to do so. I think it would be fun, or at least interesting if the fair folk were commonly known to exist. Dangerous, unwise, but fun.
8. What’s the last book you didn’t just read, you DEVOURED?
In the Valley of Sun by Andy Davidson. It was nasty, infuriating, full of characters I didn't like for but occasionally felt bad for, and it's about a wandering killer turned vampire living in an old RV just outside of Waco, TX in the 1980s. Yeah, that's what I thought too.
It was a break-neck paced mystery, not exactly of ''who'' did it, but of what happened, how did they do it, and are they going to get caught?
9. What are you most passionate about?
Art, literature, zoology. The order of those items changes frequently.
10. What do you think is your best quality?
oh I hate this question. Passion, I guess? It's not easy to get interested in something, but when I am, I can learn fast, pick up on details, and make weird connections. I'm literal minded and frequently get over-detailed on things, but I can think on multiple tracks at once and have caught things that even our Risk department at work didn't notice because they disrupted something.

Well.
It looks like after some days, the truth has finally come out to light.
It turns out that you are the one responsible for the entire "work out" organized by my baby at his parents' home? Looks like it went a little bit out of control after you brought up some "plots" when Seokie had mentioned about us spending the night in his old bedroom… The naughty kind of out of control, if you know what I mean.
I have already scolded your brothers, but you are the one who truly deserves to be reprimanded. So, as the oldest person here, let me give you a few words.
Don't put such ambiguous suggestions that would give someone the idea to be disobedient. Even more if that someone is my lover. I need to first check that suggestion before allowing you to tell that to others.
⋆
Ehhhh what do you mean Yunseon-ssi~ I feel like you got the wrong person Sir…
In my most innocent defense, I only said ONE SENTENCE. About how it reminded me of some plots, nothing more :( Is it my fault that BTS shares the same braincell ? We have been together for 10 years~ Getting a bit out of control isn't something unexpected hehe. Though naughty mmmmmmh nope ! Don't see nu uh.
And yes Sir ! o7 Ok Sir ! o7 No more ambiguous plots that would make your boyfie go all bold one you Sir ! o7
… Though it seems like you didn't dislike it at all Yunseon-ssi 𓁹‿𓁹

Fallout Series Positives:
Pretty faithful to the look and feel of Fallout, whether we're going BIG with technology and creatures, or small with food and tools
First episode an absolutely stellar introduction, got me hooked to the plot, got me invested in the characters, absolutely trashed my emotions and made me cry twice, first at the very beginning then again more towards the end
That Fallout branded mix of goofy, corny humor and absolutely sobering scenes of either how terrifying or deeply sad the world is
Action Sequences that either feel completely accurate to the standard game or like someone has Bloody Mess active.
Our main Vault Dweller is exactly how I felt first experiencing these games and it has been lovely watching her progression from sheltered/slightly off socialization to adapting to the surface while still maintaining the root of her core values
The Ghoul is a terrifying badass that is very entertaining to watch and whose experience with the world feels on par with how I approach the games now
Maximus clearly is on the road to being disillusioned with the Brotherhood and slowly becoming a better person, it is taking him time and effort and the journey is not yet over
Not sure if this would be a positive for everyone but watching the Knight go from intimidating figure to "I'm bored and want to shoot something." "*Sees creepy cave that clearly has something dangerous AND something they need in it* Fuck." "(uses companion as convenient meat shield/danger scout)" "*Is in fucking power armor but as soon as he is faced with something terrifying in nature and it is not going his way:* (running) fuck fuck fuck fuck" as much as he was an asshole it was hilarious seeing a representation of a True GamerTM experience.
I missed the more rotten ghouls of earlier games and so was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of other ghouls that followed their design rules more than 4's raisin ghouls. Robert and Martha were devastating.
Some pretty good Vault horror honestly
A character's actions that were kind a messed up in a way that was clearly framed as comedic has SHARPLY turned sinister due to stuff that gets revealed at the very end and makes me very excited to see what more of their deal is the next time we see them.
Fallout Series ehhhs... (Will be containing spoilers):
Personal ehhhs:
Putting this ehhhh at the top because it's a very personal one that might be shared or might be different for other people, but a lot of the sexual things that cropped up (and for the most part seemed like they were meant to humorous? To get a laugh?) just really weren't doing it for me at best and making me deeply uncomfortable at worst. Would love a version with them cut. It does feel in line with a small part of Fallout 2's humor though so again mainly a personal ehhhh rather than disparaging the show for it.
This one might just be because I'm asexual but the romance between Maximus and Lucy feels forced? Allosexuals please advise, is it normal for infatuation to strike that fast and hold weight for so long after? I don't mind the two together, looking at their individual characters I do think that it could work, its just it feels off when the story is very clear about the intention that these two will end up together immediately upon them meeting. Again, I don't hate romance subplots in theory, it's just, in general, when they show up like this where it feels like it was tacked on in order to check a box, rather than fully explored into how that would develop, that kind of just bothers me.
As a small branch to that last one, if it is forced than it feels kind of bad that a lot of the positive developments of Maximus's character seem to only occur because of his crush on Lucy. Him wanting to help Lucy because he earnestly does want to follow the one value of the Brotherhood he's internalized, being a pillar of Justice for the wasteland, and her being a Vault Dweller following the Golden Rule clearly paints her as an innocent needing assistance and justice, well, that's all well and good, but her being able to influence his decisions because he doesn't want her to think bad of him in a romantic sense, if I'm reading that right... don't like it. Not to say that his character growth completely involves Lucy! His disillusionment with the Brotherhood happens without her, and he has positive growth with Thaddeus as well, it just seems like its easier for him to take steps back from his personal growth when she's not in the picture.
Production ehhhs:
some of the scenes had backgrounds that looked a little bit too much like they were taken straight from the game, with the actors in the foreground kind of visibly sticking out from them. I'm not sure if this is because they were using green screens for certain shots or what other explanation there might be for it. If it is green screens though... Amazon you cannot pull the wool over my eyes and claim that you did not have the funds to build actual sets for this tv show.
The initial introduction for CX404 was absolutely great and I was excited with how some frames seemed to emphasize her own perspective of what was going on around her and this one man that's cared for her since she was a pup, but any shots involving her after seem kind of weird with how they're cut and the perspective shots seemed to get dropped. Maybe I'm just spoiled with how well the shots were done with Jed in the Thing, and the perspective thing being dropped is really just a personal disappointment than anything wrong with the show, but, it's my blog so I'm gonna admit I'm disappointed that potential wasn't explored.
This one is kind of a true "ehhh," it's really all I can think to describe this thought when I remember John Boyega's role as Finn and watch this film. It feels off that, in this 3 protagonist cast, Aaron Moten and John Boyega both are in the role of a character whose background is coming from a deeply oppressive regime he's been brainwashed by since he was a child, and whose main soldiers are unilaterally recognized by the masked armor they wear. I do really like the archetypes they chose for the 3 protagonist cast! Pure of Heart Vault Dweller/Indoctrinated Brotherhood Scribe/Disillusioned Pre-War Ghoul, just... Thinking on the fact Aaron got the brotherhood role. Maybe this was done purposefully for a positive reason, but right now fresh off the show without digging into director/cast interviews that maybe explore this specifically it just. ehhh.
As much as I loved the horror set up for Vault 33 the span of time that goes between Norm and Chet discovering that and the next bit of investigation Norm does on the subject is. Incredibly long??? Brother clearly seems very resourceful and good at finding information, but with how the episodes are cut and framed it feels like a great amount of time goes by before he next tries to dig up anything on what happened to 33/why they were trying to get into Vault 31. I don't know man maybe this is because it's easier to do in a video game but I feel like if I found a bunch of corpses that wrote with their own blood how a discovered deception drove them to madness and were frozen in various states of doing whatever they conceivably could to break into a neighboring vault because of said discovery I think I would. Not sleep until I figured out just what was going on???
Lore ehhhs:
Same problem that usually occurs when Bethesda is at the seat of Worldbuilding. Philly might've fit ok in the West Coast back in Fallout 1 and 2 but it feels weird seeing a settlement like this 100 years in the future. 100 years ago for us was 1924, to kind of help put it into perspective. Having this all handwaved and explained as: "Well of course everyone's acting as if no progress was made since 100 years ago! Nukes were dropped on the NCR/Shady Sands and set them back to square one just recently!" Really isn't... good enough for me.
I've been away from the lore for a while so a lot of what I remember is vague rather than detailed, but I am getting the impression that Bethesda is making a bunch of tweaks to the history that was already set up by previous games and. I mean just honestly speaking I really don't trust their interpretations (to put it generously) of Fallout 1, 2, and even New Vegas's established lore. (EDIT: Oh no yeah I was definitely right they've straight up changed a lot and where they haven't made changes per say they have made choices for this present space of time that makes events in the first games kind of impossible)
The vials the Ghoul is reliant on. I've been generous with interpreting them as something that was recently invented, and used by ghouls who, at varying lengths of age, start showing signs of going feral. If the way the show seems to be framing them is true, that they are instead supposed to be things that have always existed and quietly used by ghouls to prevent every single one of them from going feral in the background of the games, then. No that is awful try again Bethesda. You cannot get me onboard with something like that, especially when it would've presented a really interesting quest opportunity AGES ago if true.
Character/Story ehhhs:
The amount of times something absolutely horrible happened that could've been prevented by something as simple as a character speaking up instead of just being set dropping is. Not small and pretty annoying. Miscommunication is pretty bad too. It's like watching a shitty romcom that knows the only way the scene will progress the way they want is if miscommunication happens but don't take the time to have that miscommunication occur in a believable way.
There is something very disjointed with our look at Cooper in the first episode vs. where he's ended up. The last shot we have of him is riding with his daughter as the bombs dropped, presumably trying in vain to put distance between them and the bombs/find shelter. His wife/her mother seems out of the picture at this point in time. But the Ghoul asks Lucy's dad where his family is, indicating that at some point between the bombs dropping his daughter ended up with his wife and he was separated from both of them. The only thing I can think of is that he somehow made it to his wife even though they were incredibly far from where ever she could possibly be with the Fallout quickly encroaching at their heels, and she took the daughter in a way that somehow kept Cooper from following/knowing their end destination and left him to succumb to the said encroaching Fallout. But, again, thinking about that very last shot of Cooper in the first episode, that feels really contrived and kind of implausible? If not impossible. Maybe they'll pull off an explanation that has me feeling less grumpy about it, though, who knows.
So okay hang on a minute. The overseer (look I forgot his name I'm sorry) was upset that his wife left the vault and took their two kids with her. The only possible way he could've thought to get his kids back was to nuke Shady Sands??? And he somehow had access to resources that would allow him to do that??? When he's been in the Vault and either entirely was frozen until recently or has periodically been put into and taken out of the freezer for 200 years??? The kids survived that/are not noticeably harmed by this experience???? The Brotherhood are somehow involved??? (I mean I can't think of any other reason why a knight was present as Little!Maximus stepped out and witnessed the devastation around him, they mostly stay in hiding on the West Coast by this point and for all they're so-called values they really aren't ever inclined to help out people in desperate need of it, so whatever they were doing it wasn't anything "good". Unless Bethesda is thinking of tweaking this aspect of their history as well which. It's not impossible unfortunately, considering they keep doing that/have already made changes in the show so far)
Don't get me started on Moldaver. I'm really disappointed we did not end this season with some kind of conversation between her and the Ghoul that would've given us any actual concrete information about her specifically that we weren't already shown by flashbacks and side characters talking about her. She is alive and looks exactly as she did 200 years ago. She doesn't appear to be a ghoul, as one from 200 years ago is obvious in appearance, it doesn't seem right that she would've been in cryostasis until recently, as she was clearly around when Lucy was a small child with barely developing memories and she, again, still looks EXACTLY the way she did before the bombs dropped. No explanation is given for this. I have a theory that she might be some kind of Phoenix-style new mutant that comes back to life no matter how many times she dies and so might not actually be dead, but that's relying a little (VERY) heavily on her Flame Mother epithet and again me being baffled that they killed the season antagonist when she seemed incredibly important to multiple characters and there's still so much mystery surrounding her. If I'm right that cryostasis is not the explanation for her still being alive and she's just been in the wasteland for 200 years, why has she only coordinated an attempt to get her research back now? How did she convince an Enclave Scientist of all people (granted, one who clearly has a soft spot) to get that research for her AND have it transported instead of kept for the Enclave? Why wait to go after the overseer at least a decade after the bombing and the murder of Rose? Why rely on raider help when she seems to be such a huge deal that she could've relied on better armed/more intelligent help? Why massacre a bunch of innocent people people who weren't in anyway involved with what happened to Shady Sands? Why not just wait until the cover of darkness, the newly wedded wife and all the other vault residents deeply sleeping, and whisk the overseer away then? Why put the two children that Rose clearly cared deeply for at risk? The raid of 32 was our kicker into this series, was incredibly interesting and investing, but now it just. Doesn't make any sense since we've learned who Moldaver actually is.
The reveal of the Vault 31-32-33 experiment and what was in Vault 31 was. Ok. Kind of deflating, honestly, considering how much was built up around it in Vault 33. Not to say that the experiment isn't still completely fucked up but. I don't know it doesn't seem as bad as to result in that kind of reaction that happened in 33. Maybe there is more to discover, though.
Actually no wait hold on. How did the raid in 32 even happen??? Bud is overseeing everything that happens in each vault, and the overseer (and possible any other originally vault 31 residents) of 33 had been dead for a long, LONG while before the raiders showed up. Bud didn't notice Vault 33 died?? If he did, this information wasn't passed on to the overseer of 32?? There was no suspicion on either Bud or the overseer's side that 33 has been quiet for so, again, VERY long, and no one investigated?? Bud didn't clock that the door had been opened by Rose, who was dead for at least a decade by this point?? The overseer wasn't suspicious AT ALL that he didn't recognize any of these supposed Vault 33 residents, especially considering the long silence beforehand??? This is an incredibly huge failure of management hoo boy. (The one, again, very generous interpretation I could give this is that the overseer did recognize Moldaver and her name, but only vaguely, fuzzily, which he chocked up as him not paying attention well enough to remember someone who must've been skilled enough in management to be made overseer. That doesn't explain the raiders with her. That doesn't explain the fact that somehow someone he knows is not from Vault 31 was made overseer when the last 33 overseer perished. Like we see that there were backup 31 vault dweller's hanging around 32, why wouldn't the same be true for 33 based off everything we've learned so far???)
#fallout#fallout series#fallout series spoilers#I was gonna kind of just ignore this series initially because#Devastatingly Immoral Company Produces TV Series Where the Core is Devastatingly Immoral Companies Destroyed the World”#is not lost on me#but my dad watched it and really liked it + wanted a fellow Fallout nerd to be able to talk to about it#overall it is entertaining#it's got a whole host of problems if we want to accept it as canon and look any level of deeply into it#primarily west-coast lovers of fallout have every reason to be upset and everyone else has every reason to still like it#it does the job it set out to do fine enough

Talk Shop Tuesday (only if you want to): What's one of your writing skills that you've learned over time that you're really proud of? Can you show off some examples of where you executed this well? <3
Wow, this is such a great question, and I feel rather humbled that you'd ask me this. Thank you, Anon! ❤️
While I'm still learning with every word I write, I think the one skill I developed the most over time is writing conversational dialogue. My characters have long conversations, and being concise is something I need to work on a bit more, but I do think this is one skill I have been and am still growing into.
To compare, this is a short dialogue I wrote in 2017:
“She wasn’t at breakfast either, nor in her bedroom. My mum said she must’ve already gone to school, but I know she had a fight with my parents last night, so that might have something to with it…” “Yeah, I know, she texted me last night saying something about how your parents want to send her to a convent or something? ” “Ehhhh, I don’t know about that, but it sure sounds like my dad… I don’t think they already did though, my mum would tell us…” “Well… something is not right…” - Dialogue between Esme and Joshua, from "Moving On"
And this one is recent:
James looked at Sadie and grabbed her hands, "This is also why I'm telling you this now, Sade... Seeing you out there tonight, in the cold, scared the hell out of me. You're struggling, and you feel alone in that. Because you're right, everyone, including me, seems happy and carefree. Especially where we're from. Out there, in The Valley, everything has always been mellow, right? Or at least, that's the way it feels. So, I wanted you to know that you're not alone. People may act like nothing is wrong, but under the surface, there can be a whole lot of things going on." Sadie looked at him through the tears that were again streaming down her face. "Thank you," she whispered, "for letting me know that and also for trusting me with something so huge and personal to you. James gently kissed her cheek, "You matter to me, Sade. And to be honest, telling you this has actually helped me too. It's kind of a relief that you now know this about me." - Dialogue between James and Sadie, from "Consequences"
Expanding on that, there are lots of writing skills I'm still learning and developing. Balancing conversation, image, and narrative (and getting better at narrative) is my main goal and objective at the moment. I also always doubt the plot, so that's another thing I'm working on.
Thank you again for your interesting question, Anon! I can totally get on board with Talk Shop Tuesday (even if it's now Wednesday 😄)

BL'S I'm Watching (August 2023)
In order of my enjoyment!
1. Only Friends - Breath of fresh air! It's messy, it's sexy, it's entertaining... it's got a lot of pairings I love seeing together. I like that it's just a more mature BL. Yes, the high heat is great, but it's about these characters feeling comfortable with their sexuality. I want more!
2. My Personal Weatherman - Always enjoy JBL's and high heat ones are even better because imo they always feel more realistic. The plot of this is a bit strange but the chemistry is great and I want to see where it all goes.
3. Hidden Agenda - Joongdunk are just so adorable. Besides the fact that they are just the most attractive pairing to look at, they have clearly gotten even more comfortable around one another. I like that the plot is going in a different direction than I expected. It's not the most amazing BL I've ever seen but I'm enjoying it.
4. Love Class 2 - I was busy last week so I am behind on episodes but I did enjoy the start of the show. A tad confusing on first watch but it made sense in the rewatch. An interesting plot with 3 different pairings to root for, so it's a fun watch. There are a few elements I don't care for but it's not too bad.
5. Dangerous Romance - A bit of a sketchy start and I can't stand bullies, but I am happy that Chimon and Perth get a chance to shine and I wanted more of them. Let's see where it goes.
6. Minato's Laundry 2 - Still a great show. Lots of cute moments. I think season 1 was better and Minato is irritating me quite a bit with his insecurities and pulling away. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me personally but I still like the show and will finish it out.
7. Stay By My Side - Not Taiwan's best, and the main pairing is a bit awkward in their kissing imo but I still the show is very fun and they are cute.
8. Laws of Attraction - Interesting-ish plot. A few pairings to root for. There is def. some boring parts and issues I have with the show but I am still liking it.
9. Be Mine Superstar - I find the plot of this one pretty boring TBH but I freaking love JaFirst. It's not their best series and I find Ja's character pretty awkward. But it's watchable.
10. The Wedding Plan - This plot is weird. Don't get the fake marriage or why the main guy can't be honest. I think the chemistry is alright but not overwhelming. I am not fully invested but its a short series and I wanna see how it goes.
11. Jun and Jun - ehhhh idk about this one guys. I can't get into it. I wanted to, but office romances aren't for me, and I think this one is especially boring. I like the chemistry between the main two but I find a lot of their moments a bit uncomfortable and there is a lack of consent in a lot of areas. Not Korea's best.
12. Stay Still- Not even sure what I am watching but its so short so I'm just kinda skimming.
On Hold:
1. I Feel You Linger in the Air
2. Lost in Translation
Tried the pilots of these and they felt very slow so I had to put them on hold for now and may come back to them later or if I hear good things about them.
Recently Finished:
1. Stay With Me - For anyone with doubts, this is definitely a BL. Some sweet kisses (though not on the lips) and lots of flirting and innuendo. A terrible ending but it'll apparently get a season 2, so I'll hold out. I genuinely loved this series!
2. Sing My Crush - Not big on musical plots and I found the storyline here a bit boring and like I'd seen it before, but it was okay. The main couple was very cute. Didn't love it as much as everyone else, but it was still good and worth the watch
EXTRAS:
Advance Bravely - Not currently airing. It's also I think technically a bromance but there are def. suggestive moments and scenes and I find the chemistry really good an entertaining so I'm enjoying it.
Catch Me Baby - Not currently airing. Only watched 1 ep and had to skim it, I found it very weird. I'm only really watching for Net/James.

Phantom of the Opera -- 1990
Okay, I haven't seen this in years and hated it. Decided to watch it again tonight. Ehhhhhh, still don't like it.
PROS
Charles Dance -- the man can do no wrong. Except maybe that weird accent. I love him as sarcastic Erik. I kind of like his banter with Burt Lancaster except the backstory doesn't hold up. I love his voice in general and he could sing me to sleep anytime. I loved he played pranks on Carlotta.
I actually like that he doesn't really manipulate Christine and becomes her friend and mentor. He respects her and vice versa. Yeah, he lied about who he is, but I'm not going to give him shit. Granted, he does lose his shit after the 'unmasking', but that's a given.
I liked they filmed it at the Opera House. All adaptations should do it. The opera/location is a big part of this story.
Pro/Con -- that they didn't show his face. I think the creators realized it can be either done really well or come off as corny. Do they want to make Erik scary as hell or worse, the sunburn that Gerard Butler had that was laughable as a disfigurement. Plus, I think they wanted to keep the romantic aspect there and showing his face would ruin it?
CONS
Ehhhh, here we go.
Just nope on Christine looking AND sounding like Erik's mom. No. Too incesty. Did we really need to go there? He couldn't just love Christine for who she is?
The lip syncing. Dear Jesus. Yikes.
No Angel of Music. Sigh. It's manipulative as hell but it's Eriks first connection with Christine.
Gerard -- I don't even know where to start with this man. The literal incarnate of "road to hell is paved with good intentions". I can see where they use him as "the Persian" to talk sense into Erik but it's just too obvious the man is hiding something and the police inspector knows it.
The police inspector. As if he wouldn't have disregarded Gerard and just gone down. And you can't tell me Gerard was able to bury his son so no one would find him after the rooftop. You failed your son in so many ways.
Raoul/Phillippe whatever his character's name is. Other than being pretty, he can't act to save his life. And his constantly changing accent. The backstory doesn't hold as well. He's been living this badboy slut life and sudden she changes him when he remembers their childhood of a few months at most? I don't buy it.
I actually liked some parts of Carlotta except the bad lip syncing. . She was nasty mean and I hated her.
Christine -- girl. Phillippe is bad news. You had your teacher who adored you. You done fucked up sweetie. Granted, she tried to be friend to Erik. I'll give her that. But knowing he loves you and playing up that only love can save him, see his face. Girl, don't be lying to lovesick man like that.
The weird removing the mask to see another mask underneath.
It's kind of a pro/con. I really don't like the Kopit musical at all. So, I'm glad they didn't film this as the musical. But the plot is still too thin.
SIGH
Why can't we get a solid Leroux adaptation?? It's not much to ask for is it?

How many are allowed for the ao3 truth and dare? I wanna ask for:
🛼🥤💌🌻🐇🍄🧸🔪❄️🌿🏜️🦴🐝🎨🧩
(Sorry if it's a lot)
You can ask all you want hahah 😁 Thank you for your asks <3 I'm really glad you wanted ask so much ♡
🛼⇢ describe your latest wip with five emojis
🗣👨❤️👨🕺🥂❤️🩹
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
AHHH THIS IS SO HARD 😭😭
I'm looking through my bookmarks and I don't know what to recommend... Maybe this one:
The Secrets We Keep (Aren't Really That Extreme) by CheekyBrunette (Tododeku)
This is my favorite chat fic ever. I remember reading the chapters several times before the new updates came.
💌 ⇢ how many unread emails do you have right now?
Ehhhh on the "official" e-mail I have read all of them, but on my one Gmail, which is mainly used for e-mails from ao3, I have over about 116?? 💀 Almost all of which are updates of fanfic chapters, which I will totally come back someday 🙈
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis
Preferably I'd like just @ everyone who likes/reblogs my posts, but that's where our interactions end 😭😭I appreciate your silent presence 💖💖💖
🐇 ⇢ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both?
Original characters!!! I mostly avoid reader insert because it often makes me cringe 💀
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
Maybe Ryufuyu (Ryusei Satou and Chifuyu Matsuno) from Tokyo Revengers this time?
Ryseui often makes fun of Chifuyu and his love of shoujo manga and romance. But he finds it super cute. And since he also has a huge weakness for Chifuyu, he arranges for him various "scenes" typical of shojo mangas or dramas (like "rescuing" Chifuyu from a cyclist who is riding a good few meters away from them), which are more like pranks and cause Chifuyu's irritation and frustration. at the beginning, but then Ryusei makes up for everything and Chifuyu admits that he is a very charming bastard.
🧸 ⇢ what's the fastest way to become your mutual?
The fastest way is to follow me and create some interactions through e.g. reblogs? Comments? When I see that someone is excited about what I like, I start to feel a connection hahah.
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Idk, I can't remember. All I can remember in my head is how I looked for information about what diseases etc. kissing can bring 💀
❄️ ⇢ what's your dream theme/plot for a fic, and who would write it best?
I would love to write a Hanahaki Disease fic! I already have it in my head, but this idea will have to wait. Hmmm, who could write it well? Maybe Julie Kagawa could create something good? Her "The Iron Fey" and "Shadow of Fox" series convince me she could handle it. Or Colleen Hoover hahah. She would definitely dramatize this theme even more. Her Hanahaki Disease book would definitely be a bestseller
🌿 ⇢ give some advice on writer's block and low creativity
Honestly, it helps me to read fics or books where the characters are also fans and create something themselves, mainly fanfiction. I can identify with them and feel solidarity. Their passion is contagious, their doubts are my doubts. Stories like this make me feel motivated.
Sooo reading 💖📚
🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
I love long comments where readers quote fragments of my Fic and write what they liked about them 🥺💖 They make me so happy that my cheeks hurt from smiling! I really appreciate that someone liked my story so much that they devoted so much time and energy to such an extensive comment 😭
🦴 ⇢ is there a piece of media that inspires your writing?
Hmmm I don't think so? Mostly ideas come to me randomly. But "Fruits Basket" was my inspiration to write one fic
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
She doesn't even use tumblr anymore, but I have to tag @twojastarasiostra! She's my friend who I met at university and she was my beta for a long time (now I don't want to burden her with work because of her normal work, soo No beta we die like our free time 💀) Thank you so much that you took the time to read my works under pressure and that you sent me fragments that you liked. I'm so grateful for what you did ♡♡♡ Now you don't have to read anymore, but you still have to deal with me talking about struggling to write hahah
Speaking of struggling, I would also like to thank @lostsowly for our conversations during TR Rare Pair Week ♡♡ Mutual motivation gave me a lot ♡♡ In my heart there will always be the fact that you wrote that I am one of your favorite writers 😭
I have to also tag @matcha-meow who always informs me about writing events that I don't know about because I don't have Twitter 💀 If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have created many of my works. Thank you very much for your extensive comments, which always make me happy ♡♡♡
🎨 ⇢ link your favourite piece of fanart and explain why you like
This is my favorite Kuroken fanart ever (I hope it opens because it's on pinterest)
I love everything about this fanart. Versions of Kuroo and Kenma at different ages, their adult versions looking at each other so tenderly, this background, these colors 😭😭😭
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
When I see some incest tags 💀 If in the fic the romantic relationship is between siblings, I have *ABORT ABORT*. Just like there is a threesome with siblings in the main role. If there are love triangles between a character and two siblings - that's cool, but God forbid such a threesome 💀
If I see that the text is written in a sequence and there are no paragraphs, then I often give up reading
Have a nice day! 💖

Hello! about your malevolent ask
[long ass answer- many apologies]
its a slightly goofy, sort of horror soap opera, in the vein of call of cthulu/tma. I dont find it Super Scary, but idk what your milage for horror is.
The overarching plot is drivin by the patrions (sp sorry), in the style of a choose your own adventure novel- you can usually tell where the choices are; it'll be something like 'omg arthur, we're at a crossroads- do we go left, to the evil cavern (where the horrors live) or right, to the evil woods (more horrors).' You can also hear more overt RPG stylings in the beginning- dice roll sounds for perception checks, etc. These do fade out after the first season.
Rough outline (some spoilers): John (a spirit/demon type guy) possesses Arthur (a detective from Arkham MA) and, in doing so, takes over his eyes. Now Arthur must navigate the world with only the guidance of the voice in his head. Horrors unfold, walls are walked into the boys are in their get-along consciousness. Think venom, if both of them were way bitchier and prone to swearing. and also eddy was blind.
IS IT GAY: Yes and no. If its a friendship, its really intense- but cannonicaly it has been very firmly stated that they are just friends. However, the relationship is intertwined and deep enough that many people consider it to be queerplatonic- Arthur being aromantic is a very popular interpretation, if that sweetens the pot for you (idk how loosely you're using gay here). Glib answer: its pretty queer, but no kissing.
COOL STUFF:
-A dramatic, intense relationship between a guy and the dude who lives in his head. They argue ( my god how they argue) they make up, they argue again.
-The saddest little english man (arthur) gets chucked off cliffs multiple times. Do you like men whimpering? This is the podcast for you!
-Very impressive voice acting: the writer voices absolutely everyone in the podcast (yes. everyone) and its genuinely almost unnoticeable. You really do have to have it pointed out to you.
-Fun, slightly campy (in the way of an rpg campaign) Lovecraft style horror
-Lovely piano soundtrack
-A gentleman called the butcher shows up in- what season 3? maybe?- and I adore him. Go singing irishman go. You get that violent homoeroticism.
Drawbacks:
Again, I don't really know your taste, but these are some of the things that might turn someone off from listening. YMMV etc.
-LOUD. If you dont like gentlemen yelling DIRECTLY AND ANGRILY INTO THE MIC then this is not for you. If you do like that, then you are about the have the time of your life. There is also just. An incredible amount of panting/heavy breathing. Also directly into the mic, and at length. Like, an 'i am secretly watching gay pornography' amount. I had it going on a speaker once and my roommate had questions, kind of amount
-Almost no women characters: understandable, since a dude is voicing Literally Everyone- but it is something of a sausage fest. Women exist in universe, they just tend to move in the backround/be unvoiced. Lots of 'oh heres whats happened to her' sort of describing around the 'I can't voice a woman' issue. One old lady has a few voice lines and thats it.
-Kind of a soap: This is a draw for me ngl, but if you are looking for TMA 2: the magnusing- she isn't it. Its a LOT lighter than tma, writing wise, and isnt exactly hitting any crazy new twists in its plot (if you've read Any lovecraftian stuff you probably wont be super surprised by anything)BUT. Its still very fun. Two dudes sharing a body, detective roadship shenanigans. They might kiss! Might see some skinned bodies or something.
The dynamics can be a lil repetative (wake up break up back together) and the plot can be a little- ehhhh. due to it being yk, patrion controlled- but that can be fun- it's pretty heavily a choose your own adventure story at heart, so if your down with that (and the sillyness that comes with it) then you'll like it.
-Gore: pretty gory. I enjoy that sort of thing/ am not really effected by it BUT if that not your cup of tea, then you might wanna skedaddle.
🤠 thats all. Again, apologies for the very long answer.
First off- don’t apologize! This gave me everything I needed- thank you for the detailed answer to my question! Looks like I’m giving this podcast a listen- everyone wish me luck 😭
#malevolent#malevolent podcast#you said qpr and I was all in#I’m aroace so I’d love to see better rep of that kind of thing#even if it’s not explicitly stated that it’s a canon qpr

Nobody asked for it but fuck it. Some thoughts on TF1 now that a bunch of new info and the second trailer is out. As with seemingly everything in this godforsaken (mostly affectionate) franchise, my opinions are kinda mixed.
So first the things putting me off I guess. For one the humour is… eh. Some of it looks kinda cute but on the whole pretty annoying. I know this is just a normal thing in Transformers, after all they are made for kids so dumb humour is to be expected. And I doubt it will get half as obnoxious as something like Bayverse, which straight up felt like an Adam Sandler flick at times. I also wouldn’t be too surprised if this is a movie where a lot of the humour gets dropped by the third act. And speaking of which… eh, not sure about the plot. I’ve made it clear I have complicated but mostly negative opinions about trying to give the Decepticons initially sympathetic motivations and given this is apparently mostly pulling from Aligned ehhhh… not sure. I know it’s been a thing in a fair few of the major instalments in the last 14 years and I think it could be an interesting way to explore how easy fascist thinking can be fallen into but in reality it’s always kind of felt like a cheap way to get more money from fans of the space fascists. And I kind of hope we move past it someday.
(Side note, this is one of the main reasons the IDW comics hold no appeal, it sounds like they did their best to clean up a bunch of the major ones (bar the hate-sinks) and make everyone else look worse for… some reason. Favouritism or money most likely.)
Then again Aligned was also pretty clear about the Cons being Fucking Evil and the director has at least been clear about Mega ending up as utterly ruthless and power hungry so I may be getting ahead of myself but eh. A lot of it also comes from that being a pretty common type of JRPG villain who at this point I cannot stomach. I’ve seen it too much and I’m tired. That said, I DO like it inasmuch as it can mean interpersonal conflict which I will get to in the next bit.
Also curious what the Quintesson’s role in this all will be? So long as they don’t try and make robot politics a thing I’ll probably be fine.
Onto the positives holy SHIT I love the character designs so fucking much. They manage to be both sleek and blocky and they’re clearly made of metal. I am a person who VASTLY prefers it when the bot designs are chunkier so this is a big win for me! Also the animation is just *chef’s kiss* the fight scenes are gonna look so good. And I’m still glad as heck Elita-1 is here. Then there’s the fact that I am a fucking SUCKER for tragic friendships, and I am already digging what I see of Dee and Orion’s dynamic. It looks fun turned to pain, and I like it. I think putting them in the same starting point, longtime buddies in a crappy situation, is easily the best way to do something like this. Makes it wilder when they become robojesus and robohitler. And it means we get a full-on throwdown between Optimus Prime and Megatron with the budget and animation of a modern movie where I can see what’s happening. FUCK. YES. Let them fight!!!
So… I dunno. Things that look interesting, things that look annoying. I almost certainly won’t even see the movie until after it leaves theatres so…
I’ll keep with my earlier opinion I hope it’s a good time for the kids.

===============
so far we have kyo getting dared to visit an abandoned shrine and leave something of his there
the gist is that kyo leaves something (his flame tsuba keychain) behind at the shrine, but he doesn't see tan (yet)
he does like feel someone's watching him though he cant see anyone, so he goes back to his friends
its late, and kyo goes home, but he's still feeling like he's being watched
the next day, he wakes up feeling that something is sitting on his chest, but nothing's there when he tries to look
kyo's confused, but chalks it up to the hangover alcohol from last night and pays it no heed (or tries to anyway)
as the week passes, the feeling of being watched gets more intense, and theres' an additional pressure on his right shoulder now
kyo is convinced that something must've followed him home from the shrine, so he finds his feet leading him back to the shrine in the woods
and that's when he sees tan, dressed in a white bridal kimono and adorned with magnolias, sitting on the charred engawa of the little shrine as he fiddles with the item that kyo left behind
tan looks to be older than kyo, and the design on his clothes are old-fashioned but not very worn, a telling sign of the time period he came from
kyo is stunned, yes, but the pressure on his shoulder squeezes tighter, an indicator for him to stop gawking at tan
he offers a greeting, voice youthful and inexperienced but unwavering all the same
at first, tan doesnt seem to acknowledge him, so kyo calls out once more, this time taking a few steps closer despite the insistent pressure on his shoulder that threatens to make his knees buckle
it makes tan look up from the little trinket in his hands
kyo watches as tan's burgundy eyes go wide and round, twinkling in surprise as he locks gazes with him
he glances around furtively before looking at kyo again and pointing to himself. his lips are moving but no sound comes from them
kyo tries to step closer, but the entity on his shoulder keeps him in place, just shy from the broken offering box in front of the engawa
so tan makes his way over to kyo, feet walking but not quite touching the ground, not quite leaving footsteps
kyo keeps his eyes on tan as he approaches, brows furrowing up as tan reaches both hands up to his shoulder, seemingly as if to grab hold of /something/
as soon as tan grabs it, kyo feels as if a heavy weight has been lifted off his shoulder
tan smiles, his eyes crinkling a little as he holds the invisible entity close to his chest, stroking where its head should be
🎴: "sorry, i didnt mean to startle you. there was something on your shoulder"
🔥: "was it you?"
🎴: "?"
🔥: "were you the one watching me?"
🎴: "?????"
tan looks confused, so kyo sighs
🔥: "sorry, ive just been on edge recently"
🎴: "oh dear, you look too young to be weighed down by so much anxiety. you dropped this, by the way"
tan lets go of the thing in his arms and fishes kyo's keychain from his kimono sleeve
ehhhh my brains out of juice again
so just imagine that tan sends kyo on his way after this, but kyo keeps coming back bc he thinks tan is pretty and wants to befriend him
at first, kyo thinks tan lives nearby or something—didn't think he was a ghost bc he could see him in the daylight—but it soon becomes apparent that tan gets a little... transparent sometimes
and there's also how his footsteps are always silent, muted despite stepping on crunchy fallen leaves
but yeah, college student kyo falling for older ghost bride tan
eventually kyo discovers that tan's a ghost, and also dressed in incomplete bridalwear
tan opens up about it and kyo learns that tan died at the shrine in a terrible fire
he was a shrine maiden betrothed to /some dude/, but he died while getting ready for their wedding, hence the incomplete kimono
*insert plot filler here where kyo tries to pursues tan, but tan is like "no, i can't, i shouldn't. kyo is a living person who has his entire future ahead of him. i can't upset that balance. and how would we even get married? I'm dead... *
anyway, they fall in love <3 and happy rentan ending!
