Not naming names obviously, but I just read a fic where the author wrote the MC finding an abandoned clothing store in a highly irradiated neighborhood and the MC's solution for getting rid of the deadly amount of radiation clinging to the clothes was to dunk them in the nearby highly toxic polluted river and hang them out to dry.
