VN presentation is on the brain because Fate Stay Night is peak, but I quickly want to bring up Buried Stars for having incredible visual design, whilst being a murder mystery set in a caved-in concert hall.

Like, you dont have much to make to make the environment stand out so- wait huh?

It's arranging it's 2d cast on a 3d environment with carefully angled shots to create new variations of the same background location over and over, with some solid portrait work to keep the characters expressive. And lots of dynamic menus to even further keep things visually interesting.

Its kind of more ADV than static visual novel, but there's a lot of overlap.
