#BREAKING: Officer #BrettHankison has been charged with 3 counts of wanton endangerment in the 1st degree in the #BreonnaTaylor case. The other 2 officers, Jonathan Mattingly & Myles Cosgrove, have not been charged. • 6 months after Breonna Taylor's death in Louisville, the Jefferson County grand jury gave its report & voted to only indict officer Brett Hankinson. • However, no officers were charged directly in Breonna Taylor's death. The 3 counts against Hankison are over him shooting into neighboring apartments & endangering others. • The Kentucky AG Daniel Cameron delivered the news in a press conference today. He also called out activists for speaking out on Breonna’s case. “There will be celebrities, influencers & activists who have never lived in Kentucky try to tell us how to feel, suggesting they understand the facts of this case & they know our community & Commonwealth better than we do. But they don’t. Let’s not give in to their attempts to influence our thinking or capture our emotions. At the end of the day, it is up to us, we live here together, we work here & raise our families here together.” • He also said: “I understand as a Black man how painful this is.... criminal law is not meant to respond to every sorrow & grief... I am Black & I represent the entire department.” • Interestingly enough, it only took a “couple hours” for this verdict but the Kentucky AG will not release the racial makeup of the grand jury. • Also, precautions were taken a couple of days before the verdicts. Barricades were put in front of Louisville’s court house “in case of riots”. • According to @pewresearch & @privtoprog support for #BLM is down amongst Whites since June, it went from 60% to 45%. We already knew but it’s clear that support is only given to us when it’s popular to do so. We are sickened by the fact that only one of the three Louisiana Police officers who recklessly murdered Breonna Taylor was charged - and not for manslaughter or murder but for “wanton endangerment” - shooting blindly into the neighbors’ apts. This is hardly justice. The three plain clothes officers used a battering ram to bust into the apt late at night, didn’t answer when asked “who is it” and so it’s no wonder Walker fired a shot. One shot. The Officers fired over 20 rounds. Neither Kenneth Walker nor Breonna Taylor have any drug charges on their records. That’s the police trying to justify this murder.
