#BRAM'S LOVE FOR HER IS STILL IN THERE AND I'M MORE THAN A LITTLE EMOTIONAL OVER IT

Okay but forreal, now more than ever I desperately NEED Aya to eventually wreck Fyodor's shit somehow. I already wanted her to get her revenge before, but I didn't think Fyodor would even remember or know who she was, and would massively underestimate her for that reason (just like Jouno knew that Fukuchi would underestimate her). But now the story has instead created this twisted, fucked-up dynamic between them, where Fyodor not only knows her, but is protective of her for reasons that are not his own: he has taken the pure, noble, kind, fatherly love motivating Bram to protect Aya and warped it into something horrific, vowing to protect her body only while not caring how much her heart and mind has been scarred, and claiming to be doing it for her own salvation, when he cannot possibly understand the selfless feelings Bram had that made him want to protect her and care for her — feelings that he does not have. He may genuinely have some sort of affection for children (the way he treated Karma, "blessings for the children", this), but it is twisted and hollow and is quite possibly only him unconsciously acting out the motions due to behavior instilled in him from the feelings of all the people he's subsumed in the past.
All this is to say that, now the narrative has specifically pitted Aya and Fyodor together as direct enemies: she not only had reason already to hate him because he killed Bram, but because he's also taken Bram's love for her and defiled it, dishonored it and him and all that he was; meanwhile, Fyodor has given himself an arch nemesis that he no doubt takes great pleasure in seeing how much she hates him/how much despair he's brought her, but paradoxically at the same time feels a compulsion to "protect" her that draws himself to her and that he can't ignore. Aya has to defeat him somehow (not permanently, mind you; Dazai will undoubtedly be his final end), and the setup for Bram being able to fight back enough to stop Fyodor from the inside with her help is all right there, too. Their love for each other is still enduring, stronger than ever, Fyodor is proof of that right now, and they will be able to defeat him together, at least enough that Bram can be freed and come back to Aya. Dazai told Fyodor that he would lose because he doesn't understand and underestimates the power of friendship bonds and love, and there is no better a time for that to happen than here, when he is literally using someone's strong love for and connection with someone (acting as that person and claiming to know how they feel and to be the same as them) in a way that he cannot understand, which will be his undoing.

I remember last year one response I saw to the level of outrage on here about What They Did To MIna was "oh modern audiences are so used to 21st century morals that they actually are shocked when Jonathan acts like a normal 19th century man." And idk that's not it for me at all. Like. I love 19th century Brit Lit. I'm very familiar with couples that the narrative wants you to love being problematic by 21st century standards. I get that 19th century novels are gonna have 19th century gender roles. I don't think there was any version of Dracula that Bram Stoker would have realistically written where all the men would have been like "ok great Mina is coming with us to go fight the Count in the dead of night." There was no version of Jonathan Harker that Bram Stoker was gonna write where he'd be like "actually fellas Mina is an adult and she's more than capable of deciding whether or not she wants to risk her life." I understand all this perfectly well.
This is precisely why I find the next three days so excruciating.
Mina and Jonathan Harker are the most 21st century couple I have ever come across in 19th century Brit Lit, and that means when the the ol' gender roles get slammed down on them it hits me like a ton of bricks. Mina has literally made no mistakes in the narrative thus far, she has a stainless record of intellectual activity and personal competence and bravery. And in the end it doesn't matter. She is still left home. Because she's a women, and therefore too weak to handle it. Jonathan Harker, up to this point in the novel has never treated Mina as anything less than an equal. He recognizes and values her intellectual capacities and he listens to her all the time. And in the end it doesn't matter. He tells her to stay back, he's part of the group that forces her to stay back. Because he's a man and the husband so naturally he believes it's ultimately his decision whether or not she can stay involved.
I go feral because if Jonathan and Mina can't break free of it then no one can. And obviously they're just fictional characters, and I'm sure real life Victorians were more radical than their literary characters but fictional relationships are a window into what was going on in real life and it makes my heart bleed, because god it must have been inescapable. If you were a woman who wanted/needed to marry a man chances were you were going to have to deal with being a little condescended to even if he was good, even if he loved you, even if he respected you! And if you were a man, chances you were going to not view your wife on the same level as another man. Even if you really adored her, even if it she was your most intimate connection. That's a fucking tragedy. It was a sickness, and it must have caused so much hurt. That's why I have such a raw emotional response to these days. Not because I wasn't expecting it, but because it's so real, and because nobody escapes it.

Kinou Nani tabeta. aka My Heart is Full aka I suck at titles
Let me just say before anything else. This is not a recap or a review. This is me feeling the need to write down my feelings because they are pouring out of me. This is more a personal note than anything else so skip it if that's not your thing.
I always watch this show on saturday mornings, with my coffee and breakfast, because it gives me a boost for the weekend. And I wanted to postpone the final episode as much as possible but I just couldn't. I gave in.
Second FYI. This will probably be incoherent and a mess because that's how I feel. Also, this fucking menopause (surgical, don't give me too many extra years) is really making a mess of my emotional state this week, so I'm all over the place. Also I might've had some wine. Also this may be a bit long. I think that's it.
How I got here
So, I've loved cinema since I was like 7. (yeah I'm going really back in time) Because my mom like films, she dragged to the cinema even when I was way too young for whatever was on. [ Fun Side note- The first film that I saw in the cinema was Bram Stoker's Dracula, when I was like 6, and my mum got into an argument with the cinema employee because" I am her mother, and I'll decide what she can or can't watch"and so I did watch it.]
So I always loved watching films, talking about them and eventually went to uni to learn how to make them. During that time, I went through a phase (which happened to a couple other people in my school) where I kinda got emotionally detached from the stories. I could only see the camera angles, the lighting, the editing, etc.
When I was done with uni, and had decided that editing was my favourite thing I started doing a bit of work in editing, mostly online stuff and a couple of ads in London, and 3 years later I was done. Obviously there were life factors and health factors that contributed to this, but still I left it all behind.
Then, I quickly went back to being able to watch stories with all the emotions.
Let's skip forward to present day.
Kinou Nani Tabeta? feel in my lap by way of my very first BL. Seven Days. I watched those films and went through all the emotions and needed more. More of that serotonin please.
So I got in research mode and that's when I found this wonderful world of BL and eventually this show.
Now, a little bit more about me, just in case you aren't sick of me talking about myself. I'm not a jolly person. If you asked anyone that knows me irl, they would describe me as someone who always thinks the sky is falling. However, I also love a lot of things deeply, and when it comes to things that I can't find a word big enough for it I call it magic. So I'll use it here.
Kinou Nani Tabeta? is magic.
If this show was a meal then the absolutely right ingredients were found, they were put in the hands of the best cooks and everything was prepared with love and care. This show that I love, was put together by people who love it, and couldn't not make it. This is what I believe. It's my kind of faith.
I've seen so many shows, I've loved so many of them, a lot of them touched me deeply. But only a few touched me this way.
When there is love in something, real care and empathy in the making of something, you can feel it, I believe. And I feel it so much watching this show. I get emotional just writing this.
I wish I could thank every single person that made this show possible. And we could argue all day about the quality of a show, its actors, writers or directors. I could argue why my favourite show is better than your favourite show, and why your show is more important than my show, and why that show failed and another succeeded. I will not argue about the importance of this show and my faith is unshakable.
Maybe because I love food so much and in my life my love filled moments were always around food, I connected at first with Kenji, because his reactions to food resemble mine. But this season Shiro stole my heart and soul. His quiet but profound way of loving Kenji made cry more than any sad scene ever could. And onions and chicken thighs will forever have deeper meaning in my kitchen. These two characters are so well written and so well acted, the words are so layered and so meaningful, that it's a miracle to me that it exists and that I got to watch it.
I'm sure other people will write much better posts about this show, and will probably be better (at a hell of a lot more on point) at writing about all the amazing things that this show has done. But I'm an emotional wreck and I could only write from a personal place today.
I'll be rewatching this show in it's entirety soon, because the evolution of these characters, Shiro specially, was such a joy to witness.
If you read this far, thank you. 💜

genuinely curious, what do you think about Jack x Art as a ship
you know it's a good question when i unlock my chambers to fetch the laptop.
Love it. I'm obviously not as invested in it as Mina/Jonathan or even Arthur/Lucy, but I love it.
Before I get too deep into this, I'm begging you, if you like Jack/Art read @bluecatwriter's fics for it on ao3. Such amazing work. I need to catch up, but I haven't had reading brain.
Think we're gonna have to dip a little into headcanon here. And I spoil the book, newcomers beware.
I see these two as family friends. Obviously, what with the familiar nicknames Art and Jack. Both from wealth, though Arthur has titles and land and Jack has medical nepotism. I imagine Jack's upbringing to be very emotionally stunting, raised to embody rigid standards of masculinity. Meanwhile, Arthur's father decided to put all the work he could in making him feel emotionally supported, leading to a very emotionally driven young man. When they were little, I imagine Jack almost hating Arthur for how sensitive he is, saying he's spoiled, but it's really just bitterness over not getting a healthy upbringing.
And then they grow up, and Arthur grows a million feet taller, and Jack has a lot of complicated feelings about that. Cue "Don't be intimidated, Seward. Try to imagine him in his underwear.". Jack is a bit more mature at this point and recognizes Arthur's emotional maturity as a good thing. He still tends to view it as "Arthur is masculine enough to make up for some feminine habits", so it isn't perfect. Meanwhile, Arthur has always looked up to Jack, though he now has to crane his head down. The two of them embody something the other finds admirable, and their regard for one another sits in this void space between respect and attraction.
Now. Sexuality. There are two wolves in my head. One is more interesting. The wolves are: Jack is disaster bisexual and Jack is compulsory heterosexuality gay. The former is what is said about every single male character in the history of tumble fandom, and the latter feels more interesting from a writing perspective. For the development of this relationship, I lean toward the latter. THIS IS RELEVANT I PROMISE.
So... I think Arthur introduces Jack to Lucy in hopes they would get along because Arthur wanted Jack to one day be his best man. Very awkward when (this is just an interpretation of the events btw) Jack subconsciously recognizes Arthur's feelings for Lucy and projects his feelings for Arthur onto Lucy because Perfect Man likes Girl -> Like Girl to become Perfect Man.
(I do think Jack truly falls in love with Lucy as a person separate from Arthur over the course of the story, but not romantically. He just can't perceive it as anything other than romantic because of heteronormativity.)
Arthur loves and trusts Jack so much that, even knowing Jack proposed to her the same day he did, he goes to him and asks for help when Lucy is sick. This love and trust means he doesn't think to ask questions, though. I talked about that before.
When Arthur loses his father, his existing family, and Lucy, the woman he was going to build a new family with, he falls apart in Jack's arms. He trusted Jack with Lucy's health, and she died without Arthur ever being informed how dire of a condition she was in, and he still trusts Jack with his emotions. Jack isn't fully equipped to comfort Arthur, but his attempt is genuine and deeply appreciated by Arthur.
And then Bram wrote Arthur being comforted by the only other recurring female protagonist and decided that that marked the end of Arthur existing meaningfully in the story because Bram is a coward.
I've already written a post about Jack's feelings of entitlement regarding women and why it's more than just shipping that makes me resist the idea that Arthur and Jack married anyone other than each other. Their relationship is based on mutual respect and a willingness to be vulnerable with each other. The key to getting these two hitched is getting Jack more open to vulnerability, and then we are set.
Following the events of Dracula, Jack is anxious about embodying perfect masculinity, getting a wife, having a million kids... but this anxiety manifests with him bothering Arthur to do it. Arthur is in no rush to do any of these things. The woman he was preparing to build a family with is gone. Jack, who sees every single woman as a potential wife because of misogyny, is flabbergasted. Perhaps they have a falling out (just cut out my write-up of the falling out bc I'm like "that's a good idea!" even though I know I'll never write it). Jack has been pressing Arthur to move on because Arthur embodies the masculinity that Jack strives for, and if Arthur doesn't want a wife, what if Jack doesn't want a wife either?? What if they're both gay??? Arthur asks "...well, what if?"
Then they have a Vegas wedding.

Books recommendations
Thank you for the tag, @veeples ! I have a few books to add to my TBR now thanks to your post.
Tagging: @brightpinkpeppercorn @plasticdodecagon and @lookingforsomethingcuzimbored
1. The last book I read:
More days at the Morisaki Bookshop, by Satoshi Yagisawa. I really enjoyed the first book, but unfortunately this one didn't hit the same. I'm also blaming the translation, which was weird and definitely made some choices. Most people reviewing it seem to like it even more than the first one, though.
2. A book I recommend:
This is how you lose the time war by Amal El-Mohtar. It's such an emotional story. I really liked how the author uses common techniques and tropes in such a unique way that I finish the book knowing that no other book would feel the same. I often struggle to connect with the characters in epistolary literature, but this book is one of the few exceptions. And the world building is incredible.
3. A book that I couldn’t put down:
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I have to agree with Vee, Six of Crows (and the sequel, Crooked Kingdom) are such fun reads. You have fantasy, heists, humour, realistic romances... It was the first time reading a book about teenagers as an adult that I thought that only a bunch of problematic teens could pull this off.
4. A book I’ve read twice (or more):
Dracula, by Bram Stocker. If you are into fantasy and want to read a classic, you should read Dracula. As much as I also love Carmilla, knowing what we do about vampires, seeing how much of Dracula has impregnated our pop culture, this book is almost a comedy. Don't get me wrong, it is scary and there is more gore that I would have assumed for my first read, but it's almost better when you already know what's going on. And seeing the source of our current vampire knowledge (or most of it) is very interesting. Also there's a cowboy.
5. A book on my TBR:
Stone butch blues, by Leslie Feinberg. I've seen it recommended everywhere by older queer people, but it was never in stock. So when I saw it a couple moths ago, I had to buy it, and this time it's not only going into my collection, I plan to read it.
6. A book I’ve put down:
Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie. I don't like not finishing books. Even when I don't like them, I try to finish them so I can complain properly. I couldn't do that with this one and it pains me because I love Agatha Christie. I've read all the books available in my library. I tried to read it after the movie came out and was so disappointed. Maybe it was the digital format that took me out of the story, but it hasn't happened with any other Christie book. It was so slow and I couldn't get invested.
7. A book on my wishlist:
Señoras ilustres que se empotraron hace mucho tiempo, by Christina Domenech. The translation would be "Fancy ladies who banged a long time ago". It's an illustrated book about historical sapphic women throughout history. I have the two other books by this author, and her sense of humour mixed with the respect towards these women and the emotionality of finding yourself everywhere in history are such a good combination. I don't think they have been translated to English, but if anyone understands spanish, they should consider a read. The only reason why I don't own this one yet is because illustrated books are so expensive that I haven't come up with an excuse yet.
8. A favorite book from my childhood:
Kika Superwitch, by Knister. I can't choose one because all of them were so important to me as a kid. I wanted to be Kika so badly. She was incredibly cool and brave on top of being a modern witch. I also loved the little tricks at the end of the books when they taught you how to do "magic" with ordinary tools and ingredients. I still have all of them.
9. A book you would give to a friend:
The adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty. I don't have a particular reason aside from knowing that my friend will love this book because I loved this book. It isn't the type of fantasy we are used to see here, so I think she will appreciate the change.
10. A book of poetry or lyrics you own:
Rhymes and Legends by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. I have stupid beef with this man, but he has a unique way of create the atmosphere for his stories. He will transport you to that place.
11. A nonfiction book you own:
Señoras que se empotraron hace mucho by Christina Domenech. Sorry, I don't read too much non-fiction. These two books became my favourite when for one entry, the author introduced a writer by saying they didn't the world to intrude into their life, so she wouldn't tell us their story. The project started as curiosity from a literature student who never saw herself in the stories and people talked about in class, so she started her own research. Still, she decided to respect the privacy of this person because, even if they lived a long time ago, they still deserved our respect.
12. What are you currently reading:
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. It's actually a buddy read and I'm so curious about this re-read. It's been ten years since I read the series for the first time and it's been fun to see what 18-year-old me decided to underline or how I've changed my mind about certain things.
13. What are you planning on reading next:
Either the next Raven Cycle book or The Flood by Michael McDowell. I don't know if it's been just a local thing, but this series blew up a few weeks ago, everyone is so excited and I finally got the first one as a gift. So here we go.

Aya might be part of the next generation of Sokuku
TW/CW for Mentioned mental and physical abuse
Tumblr media
okay hear me out! The sokuku line as I’ve been calling it consists of Fukuzawa-Mori
Dazai-Chūya
Atsushi-Akutagawa
So who will be next?
I think Aya and another new character/maybe a pre existing one. Take another look at the Sokuku line. Mori mentored Dazai (And Chyūa to some extent I think?) who in turn Mentored Akutagawa and Atsushi both are yet to mentor anybody*
If we take this into consideration this shows a pattern of Sokuku gifted (yes I'm calling them that because I have no other name for it) mentoring each other. Now we do know that Sokuku is probably pretty rare of an ability, (and its more of a power enhancer than its own stand alone ability) so it makes sense that the former sokuku member(s) might be (Unintentionally or Intentionally) seeking out the next in the line. Now we still don't know who came before Fuku and Mori, and how they met, but the sokuku line sets a clear pattern of how the members meet their mentors/mentees, all (Except Chūya) mentors met their mentees who were either starving, in severe pain, or had some sort of issue. Think about how Akutagawa met Aya. Bram died infront of Aya, and for her the world is ending due to Amenogozen. Aya is saved by Aku and is presumably going to be taken in by him. Why do I point this out? Because Aya might be next in line for Sokuku, if Aku mentors Aya the cycle will continue. Also if this happens we could see Aku stoping the line abuse on his side! The idea of Aya having an ability is great, but there is one twist idea to this, what if instead of staying with the ADA, Aya stayed with the Port under Aku’s care. Aya was entrusted to Aku by Bram, and as much as I love Kunikidad I don’t think he’s who Aya will end up staying with. Another thing to note is Aya was also abused physically and verbally by her father (and maybe her mother idk) but point is that almost all Sokuku users have come from Abuse or abusive places. Their pain and repressed emotions, I think may tie into how powerful their abilities are. I think this is enough evidence to safely say that Aya might be next in line for Sokuku!
now remember the asterisk I put after I said that Atsushi and Aku don’t have apprentices, well that was partially untrue, Aku and Atsushi kind of both mentored Kyouka a little, Atsushi more but Aku did do something. Why is Kyouka important now? Well she could also be next in line for Sokuku, Kyouka lived with the port (which was extremely abusive) for at least a few months, and was found by Atsushi/maybe Aku before Atsushi. Kyouka matches a lot of the criteria and the patterns that previous Sokuku gens had.
Now to address the idea that we might have a new character brought in for Sokuku. This would/could make sense, but with the massive cast BSD already boasts I really hope two already introduced characters get Sokuku.
This is all to say that I think Kyouka or a new character and Aya may be the next Sokuku generation, with Aku mentoring Aya, and Atsushi mentoring Kyouka or a new Charcter.

Hey there!
I'm the degenerate that commented on 'in dark corners' on ao3 asking if you had tumblr. I started working on some feedback and then got really busy but I still wanted you to know how much I enjoyed it so I'm just going to copy and paste my thoughts I jotted down while re reading, it might be a little unintelligible and a bit lengthy but I didn't want to forget about it again so I'll just leave that below.
I wanted to make sure I gave you some feedback on this story as the other comments, as sweet and necessary as they are, did not actually say anything of substance about your story and some were just keyboard mashing.
I'm not big on commenting, sharing or interacting but I'm trying to work on that and your story deserves some constructive praise.
Right off the bat the intro is very immersive, I find a lot of people who write Brahms will rush through the initial meeting between doll and nanny; neglecting the importance of that initial meeting, but I love this.
Bringing up the great depression and miscarriages put a great deal more empathy towards brams' parents than even the movie does and sets the story up perfectly, of course this is the perfect choice when there's already a great deal of care in her thoughts and actions in just the first chapter.
My favourite thing about the first chapter is how you set up the readers thoughts around the situation, her empathy for the parents and Brahms along with her fear of what she thinks is happening in the house not bothering her enough to want to leave makes it so much more believable that a person would stay in this situation willingly, especially when strange things inevitably start happening.
I also loved the end of the first chapter when Brahms asks the reader if she's mad at him because of course that's what he would ask, knowing he was reassured right after a moment of extreme stress and anxiety was a great way to finish the chapter.
The second chapter's strength is in establishing readers feelings about the situation she's in and feeling attraction for Brahms.
Her unease doesn't get in the way of her established empathy, and she makes a valid conclusion that as long as she's safe there's not much reason to run.
Chapter three was a great way to start the smuttier content.
The way Brahms speaks establishes that above all else he is just a man, and the way reader reacts to him from the moment she wakes up reminds us that despite everything that's transpired, she is just a woman.
Having the smut end the way it did is realistic for a man I assume to be a Virgin and I liked hearing him talk a lot more.
Chapter four brings up a valid concern for Brahms simps, and that is his child like emotional intelligence.
Reader makes some important observations and it's clear she's rolling with the punches and not doing a terrible job of it.
Having a short time skip for this chapter feels right without taking things too far forward to drive the plot, reader reflects on not putting out and I found that important, especially the line "you don't think it's right to fully entertain him. Patience is a virtue, and not one he's been taught to nurture in the slightest."
When reader reminds him the he's "known" her longer than she has him and she deserves to know more about him before going all the way was a pleasant thing to read due to feeling like a lot of writers gloss over the fact that Brahms would have (prior to the accident) had a good education, then post accident was still at the least exposed to lots of literature and music that not just anyone would be able to understand let alone appreciate. In short, Brahms isn't dumb; his childlike nature is trauma based, not because he's small minded. I imagine once comfortable Brahms would have a lot to offer in terms of conversation. Also, Brahms taking his mask off was handled delicately and I don't think it was too ooc for him to remove it at this point in the story.
Chapter five is a godsend
My main dealbreaker with Brahms fics is when people infantalize him further than the original media already does, while there is a lot of "good boy" type dialogue, it seems more like the reader just doesn't know wether to keep speaking to him as she did with the doll and determining that he needs that praise and tenderness.
Having a clear conversation about not using the child voice when talking about or doing adult things was a relief to read because I knew I wasn't going to come across a sexually charged moment where Brahms spoke or acted like a child.
I really did love this story from start to finish, I think in the bookmark description I simply put "an absolute masterpiece" and I stand by that so thankyou for writing it ❤️
Aw geez I got 100% distracted with a bunch of stuff and almost forgot to get to this so I'm sorry for the bit of delay!
First of all I would like to say that it's really something that warms me- knowing people are still enjoying and reacting to my writing even though I've moved on from the particular subject matter, whether it's temporarily or long term, and that you'd take the time to tell me all of this in such detail even knowing that. Admittedly even more so because you touched on so much that, as you mentioned, many people haven't really commented on. I love every comment I receive, be it long ones or short ones or just keysmash on every available chapter, but an in depth commentary and thought process every now and then is near vital to the growth and continuation of my art and I have to say thank you for providing that (and for liking it at all and telling me so, lol)
You talked about so many things that I'm glad were appreciated! 'In Dark Corners' was the first fic I ever wrote and while I'm proud of it I still feel that twinge of 'not my best work' when I think about it (though half of that might be that The Boy isn't my favorite movie that I wrote for in general but that's neither here nor there). The setup to this fic is kind of a fave of mine, and something I wrote having those same feelings about rushing towards, well, porn. It's not a bad thing, since that's the main end game for most of these fics (mine included) but I found it hard to imagine that end game without a solid basis to go off off. And a lot of those thoughts mentioned in the introduction are based off thinking of myself in that situation. At the time I didn't think of myself as paranoid by nature, but having gotten so deeply into horror movies I would probably write things differently now with newfound fears and possibilities in mind both realistic and unrealistic. The idea of ghosts aren't so heavy on my mind but there is always that possibility and I still think the easiest way to handle a ghost situation would be to go with the flow if things aren't outright deadly so...
And, to some extent, the same extends to the second chapter. In my eyes, the worst thing you could possibly do in a situation like a strange man in the house you're watching who is clearly the 'ghost' you've been caring for and who just killed a home invader would be to upset him outright. I think of the MC's actions initially to be exploratory, and I'm glad you picked up on that (and god do I hope others did as well or it just seems like she's an idiot lmao).
Part of what drew me to writing fic for horror movies (slashers, primarily, of course) is just how little we know about them in some cases. It's the largest part of why lesser known films or ones without sequels are the only ones I've written anything for. I enjoy inferring things about a character and by extension creating a character type that could synergize with that (it's also fun to just make shit up sometimes!!) and perhaps even result in growth of the chosen slasher- However slight that might be since, obviously, I'm not going to try to redemption arc a slasher character. I can't fix him, but by god can I try to nurture his emotional intelligence and to lessen the impact of his emotional/physical traumas on everyday life. Brahms is something of a complex case as his child-like responses to most things muddy the waters on how great his potential is, but there are signs of his more adult capabilities and know-how littered here and there, and of course the knowledge that he was previously educated and that especially with all the money and access to nannies 'for the doll' and so many books that education more than likely never truly ended (though it might have stagnated just a bit as he outgrew the difficulty of some lessons). While there's a lot of guesswork and theorizing, it's still possible to paint a decent picture.
It's also always a relief to see people remarking on the rules I set pretty early on that 'adult things require adult talk' because while it's not something I can recall seeing others put into their fics, the most horrific thing I can think of someone inferring in my writing is that a grown man railing the MC is speaking in a child's voice, and as I like the comfort of knowing something like that won't happen in a fic I read I thought others might want the same assurance. Praise is one thing, but infantalization isn't something I'll stand for or support.
Honestly, it's so nice to get responses like these about my stories. I've found that I'm a touch divided from a large number of reader insert writers because technically it's not a reader insert proper, as I put a lot of background into the characters and put a lot of words in their mouth that don't apply to everyone reading. It's not an OC but it's not a perfect stand in for just anyone reading, and I'm a little self conscious of the fact. Not to say I don't deserve any criticism for it, since I'll admit that writing proper reader inserts isn't something I can seem to manage and I'm not really proud of that. I'm a novelist by trade and I feel it shows in that shortcoming, but since I wrote fanfic for fun I try not to let it get to me. ANYWAY, all this boils down to me trying to say that I greatly appreciate that you and others take the time to write me things like this, and I'm endlessly overjoyed by how many people like or even love the things I've written; flawed as I may see them. If you're a fan of other horror/slashers, it's my due diligence to recommend my other stories lol. I'd love to hear your feedback, if you do- hate or love them- or even if seeing what I write for gets you interested in another film you've never seen, that's more than enough for me. Much love if you read all my rambling reply up to this point, as well, lol <3

Hey Kacey! I was reading though you dad witcher stuff for the 1000th time because oh my GOD it makes me happy, and I was curious: how do you think the wolves would react told holding their newborn for the first time? I'm not asking for a fic (unless you wanna😜) cause I know thats a HUGE undertaking, but just wondering your kinda headcanons on it. Would they be afraid to hold it, be kinda shocked numb like 'omg I made a tiny human can't compute', be super excited and never want to put it down, etc. And again, even headcanons is just if you want to. You write all of them so damn well and their emotional reactions to things are always 100% in character when you write them.
Thank you for putting out your amazing works, allot of them have honestly helped me plug along through 2020 and beginning 2021. I hope you have a wonderful day!
A/N: I’m so sorry this took forever to finish babe! I have no idea how the post baby being born thing goes? I don’t know how long it is until the dad holds the baby? But I did research and I did change some things up because I didn’t want to do each story the same. So sorry for anything that isn’t correct or accurate. I kept Geralt’s sort of short because I have done one similar to this before except with Lana (Smitten) so this time I did Bram!
Warnings: it’s implied that the reader went through birth before this but it isn’t mentioned, fluffy with a hint of witcher angst, does breastfeeding count as a warning? if so, there is breastfeeding in this but only briefly
***
Lambert
“What’s she going?”
“She’s eating, Lambert.”
“Why is she making that noise?”
“She’s breathing while she’s eating.”
“Is she supposed to be breathing like that?”
“Yes, love.”
“Bug, why do her eyes look so wide? She looks scared.”
“Probably because you’re staring at her and hovering so close.” You giggled softly. He was towering over you two and leaning over you and Eva as she nursed. You didn’t mind, but everything was new to Eva, who was born just a little bit ago.
Lambert moved away from Eva, choosing instead to sit near your knees so he wasn’t too close to make Eva uncomfortable or scare her, but so that he was close enough to watch her.
“How long until she’s done?”
“Oh, love.” You tore your eyes away from Eva to look up at your husband. “You’re so impatient.”
“It’s been hours.” He frowned. “I read somewhere that if I don’t hold her soon, she won’t know I’m her dad.”
“I can assure you that isn’t true.” You shook your head with a little chuckle. “And it hasn’t been hours. It’s been maybe a half of an hour. Once she’s finished eating, she’ll stop nursing and then I promise you that I will let you hold her.”
He nodded his head, yellow eyes flickering down to Eva.
“Is she gonna start teething and still be nursing like that?”
“It just depends on when her teeth start coming in.”
Lambert winced and brought his hand up to his chest as if the thought brought him pain.
He settled with quietly watching her, fascinated by every little noise that came from her and every little move she made.
When Eva was finished nursing, Lambert rubbed his hands along the tops of his thighs and shifted in his spot.
“Can I….?” He trailed off, eyes flickered up to you.
“Yes, my love.” You nodded, moving Eva around so you could safely hand her off to her father. “Come up here and sit next to me. My legs are hurting and I can’t move too well right now.”
Lambert moved to sit by you at the head of the bed. He became as still as a statue as you moved Eva into his arms. His brows drew together softly and his lips parted.
“She’s…. Fuck, Y/N. She’s so tiny.” His voice cracked.
“I know.” You put your hand on his shoulder, smiling at the sight of him holding her. You kissed his shoulder. “She’s so beautiful, isn’t she?”
“Looks just like you, bug.”
“I think she’s got your nose.”
“Gods, don’t say that.” He shook his head, sniffling.
You reached over to wipe his cheeks. “She’s too perfect to look like me.”
“Well she’s ours. So she’s gotta have a little of both of us.”
Lambert nodded. His eyes were still focused on her.
“Just wait until Vesemir gets a load of her…. I hope she gives him hell in her toddler years.
Eskel
Your eyes followed Triss as she checked over the baby, ensuring that the tiny newborn was healthy and well. The baby was crying and that worried you, but Triss assured you that it was okay.
“You did amazing.” Eskel murmured, leaning over to kiss your temple. He was sitting on the edge of the bed next to you. Your fingers were still intertwined on the bed by your side. Your skin was clammy and damp with sweat and you were exhausted, but you wanted to hold her, to hold your baby.
“Did you get a good look at her?” You asked. Your voice was raspy. You turned your head to look up at him.
“She looks beautiful.” He nodded, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
“She has got a nice set of lungs on her.” Triss moved towards the bed with the baby in your hands. “Have you guys decided on a name yet?”
“Mhm.” Eskel watched you take the baby from Triss. “Nadia.”
“What a stunning name. Very fitting for the little girl.”
You fixed the way you held Nadia, situating your hold on her so that she rested against your bare skin. Her cries died down and she curiously looked up at you.
“I’ll leave you two be for a bit.” Triss took a few steps towards the door. “If you need anything, I’ll be out in the other room.”
Eskel thanked her since you were too caught up in gazing at the beautiful little baby on your chest.
“Eskel.” You reached out with the hand that wasn’t providing her support. Blindly, you found his arm. “She’s…. She’s….”
“She’s beautiful.” He leaned down to kiss your messy hair. “And looks to be a bit hungry.” He chuckled softly as Nadia made a motion with her mouth like she was trying to suck on your skin.
“After she eats, you can hold her.” You told him, moving her so that she could latch onto a nipple.
“Oh I….” Eskel trailed off, shaking his head.
You shifted at the foreign feeling of her latching on, but she seemed to get the hang of it.
“You what?” You looked up at him.
He shifted around to sit with his back more towards you. He looked down at his hands, rubbing them together.
“I think I should wait a little while. Maybe until she’s older at least.” His words were quiet and hushed, but you could hear them just fine now that Nadia was no longer crying.
“What? Eskel, what makes you think that?” You furrowed your brows.
“I just…. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have me hold her when she’s that tiny.”
You watched him for a few moments, unsure that you were even hearing him right. How could he say that? He had been so excited and so eager to hold her throughout your pregnancy and even through labor.
“Eskel, look at me.” You murmured. You wanted to reach out and hold his hand, to touch him and comfort him, but you were busy holding Nadia.
He didn’t turn towards you at first, but then he let out a small breath and turned around so that he could look at you.
“Eskel, you’re her father. There is no reason in the world you should put off holding her.”
His eyes flickered down to watch her, to watch his newborn. She seemed to already be drifting off to sleep.
“What if I hurt her?” He asked, his voice low and timid. “On-On accident, of course. My hands- I-I’m just…. They’re big and the things I’ve done-,”
“You are more than just a witcher, Eskel.” You reminded him, though your words did little to comfort him. The furrow in his brow was still prominent.
You made sure you had one arm securely holding Nadia in place, and slowly pulled your other arm away, making sure she was still comfortable and safe.
You reached over to take Eskel’s hand, placing it on her back. You placed your hand over top of his, gently brushing your thumb over his knuckles.
“You would never hurt her, Eskel. You’ve been so excited since we found out I was pregnant. Please, don’t let those bad thoughts in your head ruin these precious moments you’ll never be able to get back.” You whispered, eyes staying on his face.
He was focused intently on Nadia, golden eyes stuck to her face.
A few silent minutes passed. He kept his hand on her back where you were holding it. He could feel her breathing, hear her little heart beating in her fragile ribcage. It was so different to hear her outside of your stomach, but it was just as comforting.
“Okay.” He nodded.
You smiled, taking your hand away from his so you could reach over and cup his cheek.
Once Nadia was finished nursing, Eskel got comfortable on the bed and you carefully placed Nadia in his arms.
“She’s so light.” He chuckled softly, making sure to keep his voice quiet so as to not scare her. “I can’t believe we…. That she’s…. She’s ours, doll.”
“She is.” You nodded, reaching over to brush your fingers through his dark hair.
Geralt
“Fuck me, Geralt! Look at that little fella!” Jaskier exclaimed, shaking Geralt’s broad shoulder.
“Jaskier!” Geralt hissed his name, not wanting to raise his voice.
“It’s a damn shame he inherited that furrow you’ve got between your brows. Hope he doesn’t have your same bad attitude–,”
“Jaskier, please keep your voice down.” Geralt cut him off, almost speaking through clenched teeth to the bard.
“He’s alright, Geralt.” You smiled. Briefly, you looked up to your husband but then your eyes fell back to the newborn you held in your arms. “He’s a quiet baby, isn’t he?”
“Got that from Geralt too.” Jaskier commented, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. He was eager to get closer and see his little nephew. “I see he’s got Y/N’s nose though. Thank the gods.”
Geralt glared at Jaskier.
“I know you’d like to hold him, Jaskier. You’re nearly jumping out of your skin, but–,” You were cut off my Jaskier’s excitement.
“I would love to! That is true. However I do think Geralt should hold the little bugger first.” Jaskier put his hand on Geralt’s shoulder.
“I agree.” You smiled at Jaskier. Your eyes flickered over to Geralt. “Come have a seat, love.”
The witcher move to your bedside, sitting on the edge of the bed next to you.
“He’s so small.” Geralt commented. “Is he healthy?”
“He is.” You nodded. “He’ll grow.”
You directed your husband on how to hold his arms and then you placed Bram in his arms.
Geralt looked down at Bram, a little smile tugging at his lips. Bram was fast asleep with his mouth slightly open.
“What’s his name?” Jaskier asked, sitting down next to Geralt.
Geralt over to you, silently asking if you wanted to tell him.
“Go ahead.” You encouraged, reaching out to place your hand on his arm.
“Julian Bram, but we’re just calling him Bram.”
Jaskier repeated the name under his breath, testing out the flow of it and how well it sounded together.
“Julian? As in…. As in my name?”
You nodded while Geralt kept his eyes on Bram.
“That’s so sweet of you, Geralt.” Jaskier put one arm around Geralt’s shoulders, pulling him in for a tight hug.
Geralt groaned.

Name: Laci Lydia Brighton-Lee
Nicknames/Aliases: None.
True Age: 41
Apparent Age: 22
Emotional Age: 6-22 (average of about 13-17)
Concept: Age Sliding Oracle
Species: Vampire (Revenant)
Gender: Cis Girl
Sexuality: Asexual Heteroromantic
Birthday: January 8th 1976
Death Day: October 31st 1998
Residence: Santa Marta, California
Universe: Primarily Original Universe but also Vampire the Masquerade (where she is Clan Malkavian).
Tumblr media
Appearance:
Height: 4'7
Build: Petite and quite thin, Laci looks almost frail to most people and can be easily mistaken for a teen or preteen. She has a short torso and long limbs for her height.
Face Shape: Laci has a rounded face with a pointed chin, full cheeks and high cheekbones.
Eye Color/Shape: bright amber/Hazel. Deep-set with heavy, almost droopy eyelids and very thick lashes. Laci usually has a sort of sleepy look to her eyes, accentuated by her permanent dark circles and under eye bags.
Hair Color/Style: About shoulder length with a natural 2B/2C curl pattern. Her hair is naturally black but she has a badly bleached portion in the front that looks bright orange. Has very short, somewhat uneven bangs and her hair is a little shorter in the front than the back. Usually worn up in pigtails or twin buns.
Skin Tone/Texture: Unnaturally smooth and pale with an under-saturated yellow undertone. Doesn't look particularly healthy.
Distinguishing Features: Laci is very short and this is usually the first thing people notice about her -- she also has very large, expressive eyes. She has both eyebrows pierced, a nostril piercing on her left side and snakebites. Both ears have triple lobe piercings and two helix piercings.
Posture: Depends on her current emotional age but as a general rule, Laci's posture is somewhat folded in on herself, somewhat shy and insecure. When she's at an older emotional age, her posture is more confident and open. Laci's body language is dreamy and distant, her steps usually slow and unsure. She walks through the world like she's in an endless dream.
Voice: Somewhat nasal but with a distinct huskiness/vocal fry -- her actual pitch is somewhat higher and definitely comes across as a little bit childish.
Clothing Style: Laci is very much a goth -- she's almost always wearing at least one piece of clothing with mesh or fishnet (she doesn't like lace as much) -- the primary colors in her wardrobe are black, charcoal gray and purple, with occasional hints of neon green. She prefers pants and shorts with tights over skirts and dresses. She tends to prefer lays -- wearing tank tops over mesh shirts under hooded sweat shirts and so on. She has a fondness for collars and very high platform boots. An average outfit for Laci would be a pair of shorts with striped tights and knee-high socks, 4 inch platform boots, a mesh shirt under a tank top and a short sleeved hoodie with several bracelets, fingerless gloves and a collar of some sort.
Notable Mannerisms: Laci is often chewing on her lower lip or playing with her piercings. She often curls her hair around her fingers or plays with the hem of her short. Despite being a vampire and getting no real benefit or harm from it, Laci still smokes clove cigarettes (a habit she had as a human). Laci also has a tendency to sort of bounce in place when she's bored.

Skills:
Physical: Self-Defense, gymnastics, pickpocketing, small firearms
Social: Social Media, Bullshitting, Sweet-talking, Blame-Shifting, Persuasion
Talents: breaking & entering, stealth, being cute, dancing
Knowledges: Santa Marta Underground, Streets & Back Alleys, Hacking, Computers, Social Media manipulation, explosives, Revenant Signs & Grafitti
Hobbies: Pickpocketing assholes at cafes/coffeeshops, preventing the apocalypse, clubbing, coloring books, dancing, photography/instagram
Special: The Sight, precognition, increased speed & strength, darkvision/nightsight, some minor telepathy/empathy, some emotional influence, "immortality"
Tumblr media
Psyche
Strengths: Clever, quick-witted, good at lying, adaptive, quick-learner, strong sense of justice, compassionate, sweet, dedicated/tenacious, in touch with her emotions, good with kids, generally empathetic
Weaknesses: overly-emotional, immature, irresponsible, stubborn, impatient, overly curious, has trouble understanding rationality, has difficulty understanding the motives/perspectives of others even if she can understand their feelings, hot-headed, prone to fits of mania and/or depression, way too fucking blunt at times, bad at explaining herself, bad at understanding her own motives at times.
Mental Health Issues: Bipolar Disorder, Age Regression, Hallucinations, Anxiety, Possible ADHD?
Goals: Stop the God-Damned Apocalypse, have fun, make friends, help people
Guiding Philosophies: Do your best to preserve life but know that in the end you'll have to hurt people to stop the apocalypse, try your best to make people laugh and improve their lives, make the world a better place, punish evil whenever you see it, offer help to the helpless and compassion to the weak and downtrodden of society, bash the fash
Sense of Humor: Laci delights in pulling pranks on her friends or making absolutely random, inane comments that leave others confused. She also likes puns and dumb memes.
Overall Personality:Chaotic and trickster-ish. Laci is an enigma to most of the people around her, often including herself. She is bright and spontaneous most of the time but can become somber and serious at the drop of a hat. Her general mood and energy are frantic, high energy and unpredictable. When she comes to care about someone, she's incredibly protective of them to the extent that she can be and will do about anything to make them happy or keep them safe.
Deep down, Laci is frustrated with her inability to remember most of her human life and desperately wishes she could regain it -- however, most of her efforts are currently focused on preventing the Awakening of a being she knows only as The Myriad Eyes, which Laci believes will cause the end of the world if it does wake from it's slumber. Her methods of doing so are...erratic and often nonsensical due to her lack of general knowledge about the thing, seeing only glimpses of it through her precognition and sight.
Little Laci: Mostly the same as Big Laci (described above) but less able to focus on her goals, more dependent on others and more emotional.
-In Love: Laci can't remember being in love. She knows vaguely that she was dating someone who had broken up with her just before she became a vampire but more than that is blurry. When she does crush on someone (which is rare) she's usually very shy around them, having difficulty speaking and becoming very awkward (think moe anime girl)
-Under Stress: Erratic, irritable and far more emotional than usual. Laci becomes inconsolably upset when under stress very quickly -- prone to lashing out in anger and having complete breaks from reality of the stress is severe enough. Stress is also the number one trigger for Laci's age regression, the more intense the stress, the further back she slides.
-Alone: Laci doesn't really get to be alone due to being haunted by her best friend as a human who she accidentally killed after her Change...When it's just Laci and Amy, Laci can be very quiet and withdrawn, just focusing on whatever task is at hand and desperately hoping Amy doesn't decide to cause any problems.

History
Birthplace: Santa Marta, California
Childhood:: Laci can remember her fifth birthday where she had her first vision of the future and of the party being ended prematurely. She also remembers starting therapy at twelve.
Adolescence: Laci remembers her first day of middle school -- which went rather badly, remembers going to anti-prom and getting kicked out of her parents' house at 18.
Adulthood: What little Laci can remember of her adulthood, she was working as a barista at a local coffee shop while working with a group of friends on a local anarchist zine. She was dating one of the editors on the zine until he cheated on her and broke up with her on October 20th 1998. During a manic episode that followed, she cut her hair and bleached her bangs (with the intent of dyeing them purple). She and her best friend were kidnapped by a vampire outside a local goth club on Halloween. The vampire would turn Laci and leave Amy in the room with her to kill during her first feeding. The trauma of her change (which occurred fully within only three hours) and subsequently murdering her best friend seems to have induced age regression and severe amnesia in Laci. She cannot recall the name or appearance of her Sire or even the majority of her life, outside of small snippets from here and there.
Recent: Laci has been living in Santa Marta in the Revenant Community since they found her in 2002. It's not sure if she's actually part of the Revenant bloodline or not but they don't really care about that. She's got a small apartment in Bram Park, not far from the Sidetracks bar, which contains one of the main entrances to the Underground.

Whumpmas in July Day 14
Tumblr media
Tumblr deleted this when I was nearly done and I want to cry. So take two at @whumpmasinjuly day 14. Tagging five people because I love them all way too much to leave any of them out.
@ocsickficsideblog Is sickfic whump? Well, she's written some good ass whump too. And Alistair is the only man I have ever loved (not romantically though. He's too dumb). And Jasper and his trauma is soooo good. Coming to terms that his mom wasn't perfect. Learning to live without her. And Alistair and his aggression and hot temper. Learning to calm down and fearing being like his dad. Turning out to be more of a stupid dork than a violent thug. And fucking Julius who shows love is blind and doesn't realize he's dating the biggest idiot. Her writing is SO FUCKING GOOD and she has a really good way of showing trauma and recovery. I'll be first in line to buy her novels. Fighting through the crowd at a book signing even though I'm currently texting her. April's #1 fan. Plus she's a fucking awesome friend and I love her. Got me to rediscover my love for writing when my motivation was burning in Hell.
@ashintheairlikesnow Dude. Amazing. I never thought I'd enjoy BBU stories but Chris converted me. I binge-read Danny's full story in like a day and I'm dying (but also dreading) to know what happens to Ora. Bram made me cringe so bad. So good at writing despicable villains. Bram, Branch, Grant. Evil. Fuckfaces. But then there's Ashley. I am madly in love with Ashley and that makes me concerned about my taste in women. Does a great job at showing recovery and then throwing more misery at him and we all love to hate her for it. Seriously, so fucking good.
@haro-whumps I was initially opposed to reading the whole legalized slavery thing but I am loving their Group Whumpees series. I would die for Nyla and Lilah, and I love all the slaves. Greyson needs to take a mental health day, poor dude. I want all the slaves to be happy and free. Along with initially being skeptical of Galo. A dude who approves of a system that denies rights to people based on the parents they're born to?? But he grew on me. God, that sounds bad out of context. I'm enjoying watching Galo navigate through and deal with family ties and trauma of people he's never thought about, trying to be wise and rational when all this is thrust on him. Rot in Hell, Bethany. P.S. I'm amazed to see your art progress and improvement. I freaking adore your drawings of Rat and Bijou.
@whumping-every-day was one of the first blogs I followed. I followed for the vampire whump and stayed for awesome writing. Writes trauma and recovery really, really well. And the whump is brutal. Poor Mutt. Poor Ash. Poor Gabriel. And the vampire healing system, how they need blood to heal and Ash was given only enough blood to stay alive? Dude, fuck. Good whump. And public torture makes me cringe so bad but I love it. And the doctor talking about Mutt still breaks my heart. I'm loving all these series. And I'm in love with Pasha.
@albino-whumpee THEIR ART?? IS SO GOOD??? I scroll through their blog and just stare at the art. Equal parts envy and admiration. Do I want to be you or be staring at your art in a gallery? Expert. Won't be surprised if they're a graphic novel illustrator or a professional animator/storyboard artist in a few years. Or days. Their art is that good. The emotions in the expressions. I'm autistic and have trouble gauging emotion based on facial expression but in their drawings it's clear as day. Fear is palpable, joy is obvious and radient. And that you draw so much of this good shit for free is astonishing. People should be paying thousands for a portrait made by you at an auction. And the stories with Ray. There's so little but I want it so bad. Cold jerk with a good heart. And a doctor? Ecen better! Just you wait. You're making fan art for everyone else but you're gonna receive some mediocre fan art from me in the near future. Also I stare at that drawing of Maribel for several hours a day.
