While the M3/M4 G80 definitely dropped the ball in the front end looks department when compared to it’s F80 older sibling, I admit it’s starting to grow on me. Like a dog grows into its ears, the G80 has split the room in half in terms of aesthetics but I think we can all agree the performance can’t be ignored. So like you, we were excited to see just how much we could get out of the G80, but we just had to wait for our VR Tuned Tuning Box V2 to arrive from Germany.
Interested in this G80/G82/G84 Tuning Box ? Order Here
Once we had hardware in hand, we drained the fuel and ensured we had consistent fuel as we were aiming for the moon initially. However, after this completely factory G80 put down 503hp and 479ftlbs of torque, we thought we didn’t have much room to grow, but we were wrong.
The 3.0L Twin-Turbo inline-6 S58 that lives in the engine bay of the M3 and M4 G80 was just as stout, if not more so than the B58 it replaced. While the highest numbers we were able to draw out of the stock turbos and this extremely reliable engine will remain top secret, we can proudly say our VR Tuned Tuning Box was able to achieve a peak of 640hp and 559ftlbs of torque while maintaining safe ignition timing and without increasing knock to a dangerous point. Additionally, due to the plug and play nature of the VR Tuned Tuning box, you can gain up to 137hp and 80ftlbs of torque and may even be able to maintain your factory warranty, depending on your vehicle’s point of failure and the dealership which services it.
Unlike more invasive tuning methods, we were able to extract this power from the S58 without modifying the ECU’s Timing and Fuel tables directly. That is to say, to the naked eye, the ECU was untouched. However, German engineering, American ingenuity, and some basic EFI logic allow our tuning box to modify the signals sent from the factory sensors to the ECU and allow the ECU to make adjustments based on parameters initially defined by Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft (that’s what BMW stands for).
While the new BMW Engine Computers do have the ability to datalog to identify issues or anomalies in a vehicles performance that would surely reveal ECU tampering, since the VR Tuned Tuning Box is plug and play and can be uninstalled without a trace, it’s safe to say uninstalling the Tuning Box and unplugging the battery for about 10 minutes should be enough to lose any datalogs and allow you to drive to your service center as stock as the day it left the plant. This of course, is just theory and not instruction.
So if you’re interested in gaining horsepower, throttle response, and increasing those much sought-after burbles from your exhaust without completely forfeiting your warranty by opening the ECU, look no further than VR Tuned.
If you have any questions regarding our tune, please shoot me an email at [email protected]! Featured Product: VR Tuned ECU Tuning Box Kit V2 BMW M3/M4 Competition G80/G84 503bhp G82 2021+

The Interesting Future Of The Supra
The new Supra’s apparently got fantastic handling, apparently so good that it is, according to some auto journalists, better than the Supra’s Z4 relative (something that comes, at least partially, from the structural benefit of not being a convertible). Unfortunately its weakness comes from the same place as the 90s darling RX-7 does: Its powertrain.
Gas Goes In, Numbers Come Out
Though BMW straight-sixes might be some of the more refined engines to come out of Germany, just like Rotaries, maintenance isn’t necessarily the easiest among automobiles and parts tend to be pricey. On that note, Rotary engines are the weak spot of the RX-7, with excessive maintenance and a certain degree of specialized mechanical knowledge required to work on them. These two (Mazda’s Wankel and BMW’s B58) aren’t inherently bad, and I’d even venture to say that they’re *good* engines within their specific contexts (Rotary torque numbers, Being in a BMW), while still being a weak spot in the cars as they age.
In the entry-level sports car segment, and in competition against the Corvette was the RX-7, which put out numbers around 250 horsepower. Though a lighter vehicle, it couldn’t compare to the Corvette’s 400 horsepower. When talking numbers, the six-cylinder in the newest Supra puts out around 340 horsepower (with the Z4 making about the same), as opposed to the Corvette’s nigh-500 horsepower offering. The numbers would be respectable if the two weren't vying for much the same audience: buyers willing to pay a little extra (but not too much, mind you) for a performance car.
Automotive Longevity
Now obviously these complaints don’t matter. The new Supra, despite Mk 4 fanboy wailings, will continue to be a strong leader in the entry-level  refined-sports-car market. The C8, which offers Ferrari numbers for a lot less money, is set to go up in price after its initial few model years. It offers a great value, even at $70k. Even so, individuals searching for a solid front-engine sport car (more powerful than the Miata), those with an aversion to domestic American sports cars, and people who like to wear Supreme logos (ironically or not) will still buy the new (A90) Supra.
What does matter is the used market. Both the RX-7 and the Mk 4 Supra truly bloomed on the used market. Tuners, drifters and younger enthusiasts all took to these versatile platforms and turned them into true performance machines, doing things with them that those who bought them new would never have imagined. The Mk 4 Supra is renowned for how well its Toyota powerplant handles high horsepower, with many examples hitting that legendary 1000+ horsepower output.
Ah Yes, Reliability
The Mk 4 Supra has something the that the RX-7, and its generational successor, do not: A reliable powertrain. Hear me out: rotary engines might be fun(?) to work on, but they don’t possess the best reputation when it comes to reliability. The rotary is an engine format that, like the layout of the boxer or VR5, is obscure and should be preserved. That said, it isn’t reliable, especially not in cars on the used market. The same goes for the BMW B58, albeit for different reasons.
Before we continue, I do acknowledge the strong fanbase that the rotary engine holds. I appreciate their enthusiasm and dedication to preserving such a unique powertrain. Despite this, Apex seals give up pretty regularly. Too regularly to warrant applying the label of “Reliable Engine.”
Unforgivable Sin: A Prediction
Eventually the newest Supra will just be known as the A90 Supra, as newer cars come along to supplant it. The Supras will once again filter down to younger tuners who’ll pull as much power out of them as they can. My predictions as to how they’ll do this stem from the example of the RX-7, a car that I’ve just spent paragraphs equating to the A90. As an agile, sturdy platform that appears to lack reliable power, the Supra will come to face the inevitable, just as the RX-7 did: The V8 Swap.
The legendary LS Swap has been a common, if controversial, engine-swap for the RX-7. The platform handles beautifully, but between weaker numbers and the aforementioned issues that the Rotary layout possesses, the sturdy reliability that the Chevy V8 provides is too much of a temptation to those who might waver in their purism. Though I haven’t taken too close a look at the Supra’s engine bay, there are examples of Z4 LS Swaps already out there.
Don’t Kill Me Yet
You might argue that the legendary Toyota 2JZ has already been swapped into multiple A90s. You would be correct in saying this, but I’d encourage you to take note that production on that engine ended in 2007, while the LS is still going strong. Additionally, I can safely predict that any number of wrecked Camaros from various teen irresponsibilities will feed the young tuners of the future long after the supply of 2JZs has run out or been hoarded away by collectors who watched too much Fast and the Furious. Plus, the LS allows for the insertion of a manual gearbox, something that the A90 Supra has yet to offer.
If electrification and computerization don’t wipe out the automotive landscape with ugly, shrink-wrapped-looking iPads-with-wheels, you can look forward to finding old Supras, once young, now holding Corvette secrets under their rounded hoods and young drivers behind their wheels.

Best BMW Performance Upgrades In 2022
BMW makes excellent vehicles with powerful engines. However, there may be a time when you desire a BMW with more power or a different driving style. Therefore, BMW cars undergo several BMW performance upgrades from time to time to improve the capacity of these luxury cars.
The top additions for your BMW performance car parts are listed here. We don't include the BMW performance upgrades below in any particular order. We always advise taking your car to a BMW Car specialist for any BMW performance enhancements.
Major BMW Performance Upgrades
BMW ECU Tune
Software that modifies the factory parameters of your BMW engine is known as an ECU tune. It modifies the timing, fuel, airflow, boost, and gasoline to increase the horsepower and torque of your BMW. BMWs are known to respond well to an ECU tune.
It acquires a good amount of power because they are designed with performance in mind. Alternatively, you can purchase a tuning package for Stages 1, 2, or 3. You may buy a trustworthy software tuner for your BMW performance improvement in the UK called MTC Motorsport.
A BMW tune is the first improvement we suggest if you want greater power and torque. When having a BMW tune, we advise visiting a reputable auto shop for a dyno tune for your vehicle. The superiority of a street tune over a dyno tune is still disputed.
The Dyno tune, though, is typically a superior choice. Dyno tuning allows increased safety, higher torque and power gain, and more precise measurements. And this will consequently improve the performance of your BMW.
BMW Intercooler
Your BMW's standard intercooler may get heat-soaked. When your intercooler cannot sufficiently cool the charge air from the turbo, heat absorption takes place, which reduces performance. When you start to upgrade your BMW's performance, it can happen.
We advise replacing your factory intercooler with an aftermarket improved intercooler to address this issue. The engine will be able to cool the air and produce more power and performance with a thicker, more effective intercooler. BMW Intake System
Generally, a BMW engine's stock intake system is built to strike a balance between comfort and effectiveness. It is a manufacturer restriction made with the general public in mind. For ardent auto fans, nevertheless, this reduces the performance of your BMW.
Therefore, since a cold-air BMW downpipe feeds more air into a forced induction engine, improving output, we advise upgrading to one. To increase performance and airflow, we advise upgrading to a full BMW intake system that does away with the stock airbox.
BMW Suspension Upgrade
Suspensions are a fantastic performance modification that may boost handling, output, and even general driving comfort. This update will replace the shocks and struts on your BMW.
Thanks to BMW suspensions, you may change the compression and rebound dampening settings and the height of your BMW. Your BMW suspensions can be adjusted to maximize either performance or comfort, or you can switch between the two!
BMW Wheels
Tires are frequently forgotten when performance improvements are made. Unexpectedly, your maximum acceleration, maximum deceleration, and maximum cornering are all controlled by your tyres.
Tyres shouldn't be disregarded even though they appear like a simple modification. Changing your tyres has enormous potential to improve your car's appearance and performance. Depending on your vehicle, the terrain, and driving style, you'll need the best tyres for BMW.
BMW Charge Pipe
So far, the BMW B58 charge pipe has proven to be incredibly dependable. Only a few B58 owners have reportedly busted their charge pipes, and most of them were running high boost levels with modified turbos. The charge pipe is still made of plastic. But a significant distinction accounts for the increased dependability.
The charge pipe is connected to the engine and the intercooler on the N54 and N55 engines. The charge pipe would bend since it was attached to both a moving and stationary component, placing stress on the plastic and causing it to crack and shatter readily under high pressure.
Conclusion
Thus, you can see that minor BMW Performance Upgrades can change the capability of your BMW car and make it more competitive than the other vehicles. For buying efficient BMW performance car parts, visit the online store of MTC Motorsport.

The Powerhouse of Precision: Unveiling the BMW Engine
BMW, the iconic German automaker, has long been synonymous with performance, innovation, and engineering excellence. At the heart of every BMW lies a crucial component that embodies these values – the Reconditioned BMW Engine. For decades, this powerplant has been the driving force behind the brand's success, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and driving pleasure. In this article, we'll delve into the history, design, and technical specifications of the BMW Engine, exploring what makes it a benchmark in the automotive industry. History and Evolution of the BMW Engine The BMW Engine's story began in the early 20th century, with the company's first inline-6 cylinder engine, introduced in 1933. This pioneering design set the stage for future innovations, including the iconic M10 engine of the 1960s and the revolutionary M88 engine of the 1970s. The latter, with its 24-valve, 3.5-liter configuration, produced an impressive 286 horsepower and cemented BMW's reputation as a performance leader. Design and Architecture: The Science Behind the Power The BMW Engine's design philosophy is centered around the principles of performance, efficiency, and reliability. The company's signature inline-6 cylinder configuration has been refined over the years, with a focus on compact dimensions, reduced weight, and improved thermal management. The engine's aluminum construction, combined with advanced materials like magnesium and titanium, has enabled significant weight reductions, contributing to improved fuel efficiency and handling. Technical Specifications: Unleashing the Beast BMW's current engine lineup includes a range of gasoline and diesel options, each boasting impressive specifications: - B48 (2.0-liter inline-4 cylinder): - Power output: 248-320 horsepower - Torque output: 258-332 lb-ft - B58 (3.0-liter inline-6 cylinder): - Power output: 335-382 horsepower - Torque output: 332-369 lb-ft - S63 (4.4-liter V8): - Power output: 560-617 horsepower - Torque output: 500-553 lb-ft Performance and Efficiency: The Perfect Balance The BMW Engine's performance credentials are undeniable, with acceleration figures that rival the best in the industry. The B58 engine, for example, propels the BMW 340i from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. However, it's not just about raw power – BMW's engines are also designed to deliver exceptional efficiency, with many models achieving impressive fuel economy figures. Innovations and Future Developments: Electrifying the Future BMW continues to push the boundaries of engine technology, with a focus on sustainability, electrification, and digitalization. The company's upcoming engines will feature advanced hybrid and electric powertrains, as well as innovative materials and manufacturing processes. The recently announced BMW iNEXT, for instance, will boast an electric powertrain with a range of over 373 miles. The BMW Engine Legacy The BMW Engine is a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to innovation, performance, and engineering excellence. With its rich history, cutting-edge design, and impressive technical specifications, this powerplant has cemented its place as a benchmark in the automotive industry. Video: Introducing the VR Performance Titanium Exhaust for Toyota A90 Supra
After a 21-year absence, the legendary Toyota Supra has been revived and is already in its second production year as the fifth generation of the iconic sports car. With the help of BMW, Toyota was able to bring back the Supra to the satisfaction of automotive enthusiasts all over the globe. With that said, the aftermarket houses a plethora of replacement parts, upgrades, and accessories for the Supra to further customize it. However, VR Performance is here to change the game and take the A90 to the ultimate level with our new Titanium Exhaust System. In the video below, we give you a closer look at the exhaust, install it on a customer’s car, and show you how it sounds to prove that the VR Performance system will be the best one on the market.Â
Browse Toyota A90 Supra Parts Here
The new VR Performance Exhaust System for the A90 Supra features lightweight construction, precision engineering, advanced features, high-quality materials, and a tantalizing soundtrack. To put it simply, this titanium exhaust is lightweight and loud. The entire system weighs just 25 pounds, which is ultra-lightweight compared to the stock exhaust. The VR Titanium Exhaust is crafted from top-grade titanium and boasts a unique exhaust note that complements the aggressive tone of the B58 engine beautifully. This exhaust system also features a gorgeous burnt titanium finish on the 4.5-inch tips to provide an elevated performance look and feel to the rear end. Give the competition something to look at as you pass them by with the power, aesthetics, and sound to boot.Â
This exhaust incorporates large 90mm diameter titanium piping and is divided into oval sections for optimal clearance under the vehicle. It also features Valvetronic technology that works with the stock system, so you can control when the valves are closed and opened for the ultimate sound customization. When you close the valves, you are simultaneously forcing the exhaust gases through the 76mm muffler section to make it much quieter just like it does on the stock system. If you want it louder, hit the sport button to open the valves and the gases will flow through the section with no muffler. It’s just that simple – all at the touch of a button!
If we may toot our own horn, this is definitely one of the highest-quality systems you can get for the A90. Don’t believe us? Check it all out in the video clip below! Toyota Is Giving Away a Really Cool Supra Poster
Toyota is pulling a page from Oprah Winfrey’s playbook and giving its fans a free car … poster. Yes, this poster of the 2020 GR Supra isn’t quite as valuable (or useful) as an actual car, but it’s still pretty rad. It’s also something fans of the German-Japanese sports car ought to take advantage of by going to 2020grsupra.com/poster.
The 2020 GR Supra marks the return of the nameplate to the Toyota lineup following the model’s more than 20-year hiatus. Like its forebear, the new sports coupe relies on a 3.0-liter inline-six for motivation. Whereas the prior Supra was powered by Toyota’s legendary 2JZ engine, the new Supra uses a powertrain sourced from BMW.
Known as the B58, the turbocharged straight-six blesses the Supra with 335 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, the combination of which allows the rear-drive sports car to hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and through the quarter mile in 12.5 seconds with a trap-speed of 111.2 mph in our testing. In other words, the Supra’s straight-line performance nearly matches that of the seventh-generation Corvette Grand Sport and its 460-hp V-8 engine.
Alas, the Supra’s impressive performance comes at a cost, and the model’s $50,945 base price means the car remains just out of the realm of attainability for the average consumer. Sure, there’s the possibility of a cheaper, entry-level four-cylinder Supra reaching our shores in the coming years, but until then, many fans of the model will have to continue dreaming of the day they can sit in the driver’s seat of their very own GR Supra.
For now, Supra Stans with empty pockets will have to make do with this poster (don’t worry, those with full pockets can nab a poster, too). Act quickly, though, as Toyota notes supplies are limited.

2020 Toyota Supra Engine Specs Review – The European market 2019 BMW Z4 and the global Market 2020 Toyota Supra share the same BMW B5830M1 3.0 litres DOHC 24 double-displacement single-line turbo valves six. It is a true direct tribute to the previous five Supras (six if the 2000GT is included) and a perfect successor. This aluminum engine generates 335 horsepower at 5.000 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 1.600 rpm. Due to emission regulations in Europe (started in September 2018), this version of the B58 engine includes filters of petrol particles that eliminate the soot resulting in a greater counterpressure of the exhaust and a lower production of horsepower.

Customer Spotlight: 2016 BMW 340i Equipped with Akrapovic Exhaust
For BMW, 2016 brought about some big news for the 3 Series lineup when it waved goodbye to the 335i model and introduced the new 340i. This model primarily featured a novel engine, which was an all-new 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six (B58). In addition to producing 320 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque – increases of 20 and 32 respectively, over the previous N55 engine – the B58 also emits a deep and resonant exhaust note that so many enthusiasts love.
With all that said, the aftermarket houses a wide range of parts that can enhance the overall sound, power, and performance of virtually any vehicle out there to truly take it to the next level. And that’s exactly what our customer, Nicolas Cicolini (IG: @Cicolini_BMW) sought out to do. Nicolas opted for the best of the best when it comes to aftermarket exhausts and chose the Akrapovic system for his 2016 BMW 340i. The Akrapovic exhaust promises to deliver power gains, improved performance, and a tantalizing metallic exhaust note that will turn heads everywhere you go.Â

This exhaust system also offers a taste of a more powerful version of the BMW with additional power gains and weight losses thanks to advanced manufacturing methods. The dual-mode ECU-controlled valve exhaust from Akrapovic offers stock-level sound at normal cruising, and a more enjoyable and sporty note when driving more dynamically.

A Review On The 2020 BMW X4
This 2020 BMW X4 M sports a mainly new and high-performance version of the BMW B58 inline six-cylinder engine, in production since 2015. This new engine is the “S58” and replaces the S55 engine present in the BMW M3 and M4, among others. The standard X4 M develops 473 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. In the form of competition, however, BMW adds sporting and athletic elements to the equation and increases power. The X4 makes a viable lease option for anyone looking for a high performing vehicle.
From the badge to the red start button and this two individual “M” buttons on the steering wheel, this is another example of BMW’s bloody performance experience. Indoors, you still get a wide range of technologies and comfort features, from wireless charging to Apple CarPlay support to a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.
The interior design and passenger space remain largely unchanged from the stock X4. M has made only minor modifications, intended to emphasize the fact that this is not the usual BMW SUV.
For the materials, BMW used X4 M carbon fiber, which is found on several elements, including inside the door. For the seats and the steering wheel, the manufacturer opted for Vernasca leather, while Merino leather is the material of choice for Competition upholstery.
The fact that it is an M car is announced with the use of the emblematic signature of the company here and there inside, including on the seats in the form of a luminous logo.
Since its introduction, the regular X4 has sold an average of 4,500 cars a year in the United States and many more, about 19,000 a year, in Europe. With the M now available, these numbers will likely increase. You can join in on the increasing numbers of purchases and leases of the BMW X4 by simply making contact with us at VIP, where we make the best BMW lease deals in NYC.
