Beyond Bars: A Warden's Daughter Reflects on the Causes of Crime

As the daughter of a warden, I have always been fascinated by the complexities of the criminal justice system and the factors that contribute to criminal behavior. In this blog, I will reflect on these factors and offer my personal insights on why crimes and criminals exist.

Physical Abnormalities and Psychological Disorders

One of the factors that contribute to criminal behavior is physical abnormalities and psychological disorders. People with certain physical abnormalities, such as brain damage or hormonal imbalances, may be more prone to violent behavior. Similarly, individuals with psychological disorders, such as antisocial personality disorder or schizophrenia, may struggle to conform to societal norms and engage in criminal behavior.

As the daughter of a warden, I have seen firsthand how mental health plays a role in criminal behavior. Many of the inmates in the prison where my father works suffer from mental health issues, and without proper treatment and support, they may continue to engage in criminal behavior.

Social and Economic Factors

Social and economic factors also contribute to criminal behavior. People who grow up in poverty, experience discrimination, or lack access to education and job opportunities may be more likely to engage in criminal behavior as a means of survival.

Growing up, I witnessed the impact of poverty and lack of opportunities on criminal behavior. Many of the inmates in the prison where my father worked came from impoverished backgrounds and lacked access to education and job opportunities. This lack of opportunities often led to a sense of hopelessness and desperation, which in turn contributed to criminal behavior.

Broken Windows Theory

The broken windows theory suggests that physical disorder and social disorder in a community can lead to an increase in criminal behavior. When a community is neglected and allowed to fall into disrepair, it sends a message that no one cares about the area, which can lead to an increase in crime.

I have seen the broken windows theory in action in the communities surrounding the prison where my father works. Areas with high levels of physical and social disorder often have higher crime rates than areas that are well-maintained and orderly.

Income and Education

Income and education are also significant factors in criminal behavior. People with higher levels of education and income are less likely to engage in criminal behavior than those with lower levels of education and income.

As the daughter of a warden, I have seen how education can be a powerful tool in reducing criminal behavior. Many of the inmates in the prison where my father works lack basic literacy skills, which limits their ability to access education and job opportunities. By providing inmates with access to education and job training programs, we can help reduce recidivism rates and break the cycle of criminal behavior.

In conclusion, crimes and criminals exist due to a complex interplay of physical abnormalities, psychological disorders, social and economic factors, broken windows, and income and education. As the daughter of a warden, I have seen firsthand the impact of these factors on criminal behavior. By addressing the root causes of criminal behavior, we can create safer, more equitable communities and reduce the number of people who turn to crime as a means of survival.

It is important to remember that people who engage in criminal behavior are not inherently bad or irredeemable. With proper support, treatment, and opportunities, even the most hardened criminals can be rehabilitated and reintegrated into society. As a society, we have a responsibility to provide individuals with the resources and opportunities they need to lead productive, fulfilling lives, free from criminal behavior.

That date with Sampo was fun but you were running almost an hour late to Dan Heng’s house . You texted him about how you’re late but you’re coming anyways . But you been on delivered the entire time .

‘Shit. Shit. Shit. I’m running late.’ You thought while running to your boyfriend’s house. You tried calling him but it would go straight to voicemail. Now you weren’t the best at running but you were fast.

After the nth time of calling, he called back while you were outside of his house. “Hello? (name)? Where are you?” His voice sounded so sweet and endearing. It’s so precious to you. “Yea hi babe! I’m outside now, sorry I was running a little late.” You said in between panting breaths. “Oh no it’s fine. I’m coming downstairs in a minute.” He hung up the phone.

You waited, and waited, you checked your phone every now and then. Waiting outside of his house. If anyone passed by you would look stupid. It’s been 5 minutes. Turned into 6 minutes, and 8 minutes. You sighed, you were already exhausted and your feet hurt from running and now even standing here. You felt sticky and your clothes were starting to get uncomfortable.

You called a uber and went home. You didn’t call nor text him. What’s the point anyways? He won’t even check it in time. You wanted to cry but you held your tears until you reached home. You’re not about to cry in a stranger’s car.

I spent about an hour on the game this week. I think it is a very interesting game. I really enjoy the challenges in the game. Because I am a person who is very lack of computer programs, although I spent an hour to challenge the game, the progress of the game is not much.

The general content of the game is mainly divided into three parts: password cracking, robot programs, and fraud identification. These correspond to the three concepts in the chapter: network crime fraud, network security, and network bullying.

For identifying whether it is a fraudulent website or email, you can identify it by observing the website address, sender, email format and title, etc. Cybercrime often takes personal information, bank or credit card information, social security number or court and work address.

The game's password cracking simulates the password cracking in the Internet. The password with numbers, letters and symbols will be more secure, and the longer password will be more difficult to crack.

Harassment by email or telephone through the network is considered network bullying. Internet bullying will have a great negative impact on adults and teenagers, and even lead to suicide or harmful behavior to society.
