You steadied your breathing as you sat atop a horse. The moment you said you wanted to go horseback riding, Blade seemed all too eager to get a new change of scenery as he lead you to the stables and got a horse.
Your sudden interest in riding a horse?
You wanted to fall off of it in hopes of either getting amnesia or acting like you got amnesia. It was a full proof plan! And this time you were sure it would work. Mainly because you’ve never ridden a horse before.
“So I just hold the reins like this,” you asked causing Blade to look over at you and momentarily sigh.
Your posture was wrong, your dress was bunched up weirdly, and the reins were practically being held in a death grip.
“No that’s not-“
“It is isn’t, Blade. Didn’t expect to see you here today. The Emperor wanting to go for a ride or something?”
“Boothill.”
“Boothill?”
Blade looked to you, “he’s a criminal.”
“If he’s a criminal then why is he here-“
Blade cut you off, “for work. The Emperor needs him for something, until then he is allowed to live here as long as he helps with the horses.”
You glanced towards a man who walked up to you both. He grinned up at you and tipped his hat, “little lady, you must be that princess I’ve been hearing so much about.”
You laughed a little, “the one and only,” you said as Boothill glanced at your form.
“You know little lady, I can teach ya how to ride a horse if ya want.”
“Really?!”
And just as Boothill was about to walk closer to you, Blade grabbed a hold of his arm causing him to chuckle.
“Relax, I ain’t going to hurt her.”
Blade tightened his grip for a mere moment before letting go of Boothill. Grinning at this, Boothill turned back to you, “pardon me, princess.”
“Huh- huh?! What are you doing?!”
Easily, Boothill had climbed into the saddle behind. Something that had taken you an embarrassing ten minutes to do.
“You need to relax too, I ain’t going to hurt ya.”
You could feel your face grow hot when he reached his arms around you and managed to take the reins from you, he then even helped you relax into him and help fix your dress for you so you wouldn’t accidentally flash anyone.
And as he sat behind you, you realized something else.
With him riding with you… you wouldn’t be able to enact your amnesia plan!! You internally groaned at the revelation.
“Ya know princess…”
“Hmm?”
Slowly but surely, you and Boothill started a slow trot around the field.
“You don’t have to stay here.”
“What do you mean?”
Boothill barked out a laugh, “come on, you can’t be serious. The Emperor is basically keeping ya around as some damn trophy. In fact, he will probably get rid of you once he gets bored with ya.”
You rolled eyes at that, “please, wouldn’t he actually have to be around me to get bored?”
Boothill snickered at your words, “looks like ya have some sass after all, and here I thought you were some bored little know nothing princess,” he gave your thigh a little pinch causing you to let out a little yelp which made you turn in the saddle a little and give his arm a light whack.
“No pinching you jerk!”
He laughed again before apologizing, “anyway princess, so how about it?”
“How about what,” you huffed.
“Come with me when I leave.”
Your brain took a momentary pause, “huh? Why would I-“
“Ya don’t have to answer now.”
You glanced back at him for a moment, “alright, but at least answer me this… why would you offer me something like that?”
He looked at you then, and when he gave you a little toothy smile a sort of familiarity struck you, “cause I have ta pay ya back at some point.”
“Pay me back…?”
“Yeah, I figured ya wouldn’t remember, so I’ll be kind and give ya a little refresher.”
He looked behind you both to make sure Blade wasn’t following, and to his relief, the guard was minding his own business and was keeping a distance from them both (but he was still following after of course).
“Awhile back ago when your kingdom still belonged to your father, you and I crossed paths. I was injured, just got into a fight with a guy I considered an enemy and it was late at night when you stumbled across me in an alley. You wore a heavy cloak and a hood that covered your face, but I seen you enough times with your father to know you were a princess. A princess who decided to sneak out of the castle and see what night life was like.”
Slowly the memory started to come back. Truthfully, you tried to forget such a thing. Mainly because you knew you weren’t allowed out at night and didn’t want to get into trouble. So, you thought if you forgot about that night then you wouldn’t accidentally bring it up to father like how some children accidentally end up tattling on themselves when they try to tell their parents a story.
“You didn’t hesitate to bring me back to the castle and sneak me up to your room to try and patch me up. Truthfully, you did a shit job at stitching my wounds, but… if it weren’t for you I would either be dead from the blood loss or be a limb or two short.”
“I… I remember now.”
Boothill chuckled, “good. I would of been hurt if a beautiful princess forgot about me.”
“R- right, and maybe I should be thankful that such a handsome man even bothered to remember some trophy of a princess.”
Boothill chuckled at that, “mannn, I hope you don’t sass the Emperor like that. He’ll have your tongue cut out before you could say sorry!”
You shook your head at that, “trust me, I know better than to mouth off to him. Besides, its not like I even have the chance to talk to him anyway.”
“That’s right, you did mention how he doesn’t even glance at you, so princess… what do you say to my previous offer?”
You bit your lip as you could hear Blade’s horse start to come closer, “may I think it over?”
“Sure you can, but just a warning for ya, I won’t be here much longer.”
You nodded silently as Blade caught up to you both, “dinner will be ready in a few moments and the Emperor wishes to share a table with you.”
You glanced behind Blade to see a messenger riding on his own horse.
“I understand… does he want me to wear anything specific?”
“He said to wear something pretty,” the messenger immediately said.
Something pretty…

post canon SVSSS x minato hokage era naruto crossover where it's scumplane (bcos i love scumplane) heading to the elemental nations on official business for some reason or another (maybe theres a barrier between their lands to prevent leakage of spiritual energy or somethign) SJ hates being alive purely because it means he's in SQH's debt for ripping him out of SQQ's body that Shen Yuan was inhabiting and reviving SJ (because SY decided to fuck off and live his best life as the demon emperor's wife and Cang Qiong NEEDS a peak lord for Qing Jing)
canonically immortals are extremely beautiful (even SQH is described as a 'proper' face iirc) and SJ is like TOP TIER beauty, but also immortals are sometimes described to have faces 'carved from jade' so I imagine when they step into immortality, they no longer have micro expressions and have like... crazy control over their facial muscles - so it kinda freaks out the ninjas, because the only emotions they can see is exactly what scumplane want them to see (SJ - disgust, usually. SQH - cowardice/flattery)
Scumplane also have 0 sense of danger when it comes to shinobi - they're immortals and old (lets say this is an indetermined amount of time after canon wraps up) so things like mundane steel and mortal poisons mean nothing to them when theyre so old. They also don't even bother holding back their tongues because what can these mortals even do to them? Worse comes to worse, they just seal up the worlds again, or just wait out for all these mortals to die (a strategy they use for troublesome emperors or politicians).
They also bring their disciples (Ming Fan specifically because I want him to have a redemption) and after canon had wrapped up the PIDW's story finished, everyone in the world actually bounced back into their rightful places (e.g. MF suddenly got a second puberty, his face improved to be beautiful as it should be and his intelligence returned to the level that the head disciple of the scholarly peak should be).
I want it to be during Minato hokage's short, short tenure - Minato is 23, a war hero and recently hired as ninja president, Konoha just came out of a war and suddenly the daimyo is paying WELL and hiring for the best teams of Konoha to escort these foreigners who are so otherwordly beautiful and so otherworldly RICH, like, the material of the clothes they wear puts the daimyos court to shame, they can pay in pure gold and stones thrumming with power.
SJ's whole thing is like... based on image. So imagine SQH bowing and being like 'ooh thank you for your hospitality' and SJ just grabbing him by the back of his collar and hauling him up like 'wtf dont even bother bowing to this guy. Have some face. he's only got the same rank as you AND he's a fucking child.'
(He's figured that Daimyo = weak emperor-ish, because what kind of a emperor only has control of such a small land AND has others in nearby lands with the same, competing title????. Hokage & Konoha is like the sects, and all the peak lords of CQS are of the same rank as a sect leader. Of course, they all defer to YQY officially, but tbh all the peaks run like their own individual sects, and SJ has never allowed himself to act below YQY in rank)
During Minato's reign, Orochimaru is still a loyal Konoha shinobi.... his interest in immortals makes him soooooo crazy invested in them....
SJ looks at Orochimaru who's questioning him on immortality and is like, 'out of all these people, you are the closest. Your mind is too unstable, however (ironic, coming from SJ) and you still cling too tightly to the material world. Abandon all worldly matters and immortality may be in your grasp, if the heavens deign it so.' acting like he's a good teacher or something, while SQH is in the background, the voice of reason like 'SHIXIONG WTF!!! WE'RE NOTT SUPPOSED TO BE GIVING UP THE SECRET TO IMMORTALITY TO THE MORTALS OF THE FORBIDDEN REALM????'
Maybe SQH does know they're in the naruto world, and knows what naruto is, (hc that the water walking we see YQY do in the donghua was ripped off from naruto, when SQH was still writing PIDW) but it's been like 200+ years! He can't remember shit!!! This is all new information to him!

The Luck-Bringing Cat

Jing Yuan x Fem!Reader; a shy former imperial concubine
The Apothecary Diaries-esque AU (I am kinda-sorta stealing this plotline from ep. 3), arranged marriage, budding romance, domestic fluff, pet names (JY calls Reader my dear, my love), Reader is also referred to as ‘my lady’ 🌸 3.162 words
Jing Yuan, a famed general and childhood friend of the emperor, has yet to take a wife. The emperor decides to solve this by giving one of his least favorite concubines to his best friend. Even though Jing Yuan is against this practice, he can't help but fall head over heels in love once he meets you.
Thank you so much to @a11eya for beta-reading this for me!
Tumblr media
Only one man had managed to stay at the emperor’s side through most of his life. Jing Yuan, the son of imperial scholars, made friends with the crown prince early in their lives, and they quickly became inseparable. As they aged, Jing Yuan became an asset to the newly crowned emperor; a seasoned warrior, an accomplished general, a brilliant strategist, and one of the few people who dared oppose the monarch when needed.
The emperor loved him like a brother. And it worried him that Jing Yuan never seemed interested in taking a wife. The general was far from blind to the longing gazes of the women of the court, he accepted their offers on occasion but he never seemed to want more than one or two nights with any woman. The emperor did not see anything wrong with this as he himself split his time more or less equally between his favorite concubines. But any man who was less fortunate than the emperor should surely want something more stable, especially a man who was slowly getting through his best age.
When Jing Yuan was pressed about why he did not want to marry, he stated with a lazy smile that he had neither the time nor the energy for that kind of courtship. But the emperor saw the slight downturn of the corners of the general’s lips. He saw through the facade of his best and oldest friend.
I have neither the time nor the energy for that kind of courtship. But I desperately wish I did.
The emperor thought deeply about this issue. Then he remembered someone in the inner court. A concubine who had fallen from his favor at their first meeting. He had never spent time with you after that. Why, he had barely thought about you in years. Still, you were a beautiful woman, well-educated, and, from what he had been told, quite quick-witted. You would make a good gift for his best friend.
Now he just needed to convince Jing Yuan that he would not take no for an answer.
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan was still unable to fully understand how everything had come to this. He could not fathom why the emperor suddenly wanted to give him one of the imperial concubines as a wife. Giving an unfavored concubine to a newly appointed officer as a reward was far from an uncommon practice, Jing Yuan was well aware of that. But he had never expected it to happen to him, not after so many years in service of the emperor. He had been lucky to manage arranging a meeting with you before the wedding.
This practice seemed so wholly unfair in his mind. Unfair to you and any other concubines affected by the custom. You had already been given as a gift to one man, now you were being given to another, neither of whom you had chosen for yourself. Jing Yuan knew there was little he could do about the situation, but he did not feel right accepting another human being as a gift.
He continued towards the palace gardens which had been chosen as the meeting place, still in deep speculation about whether he had any chance of changing the emperor’s mind.
Turning a corner, he was torn out of his thoughts when he came upon a small gathering of women, all of them wearing identical robes. One held a folded-up parasol. They were all calling out to someone in voices too hushed for Jing Yuan to discern any words.
Ladies-in-waiting, he thought, paying them little mind. Then, his eyes fell on you.
The emperor had shown him a painting of you, commissioned shortly before you had begun your journey to the palace. Even if some years had passed since then, Jing Yuan still instantly recognized you.
You stood at the top of a small bridge crossing one of the many creeks in the garden, your face tilted up towards a nearby tree. The setting autumn sun fell upon you at an angle that made your skin and hair glow. Tearing his gaze away from you, Jing Yuan looked towards the tree as well, his trained ears picking up the song of finches. For a moment he wondered if it might be the same flock that visited the small garden of his own residence. Turning his eyes back to you, he watched as you lifted a hand, holding it up towards the tree. A finch took off from a branch and landed on one of your outstretched fingers.
Until now your face had been mostly devoid of emotion, eyes fixed on the tree. But when the finch landed on your hand, looking calmly at you with one black eye, your features softened, a fond smile gracing your face like the sun appearing from behind rain clouds.
Jing Yuan watched you lift the bird closer to your face, whispering to it, your other hand coming up to gently scratch the top of its head. He unconsciously raised a hand to his lips in an attempt to hide the smile blooming there. If this was how you behaved with one of his beloved finches (and he was certain at this point that the bird was indeed from the flock he possessively thought of as his), if you acted so kind and loving towards the smallest of creatures with no prompting, then marrying you could quite possibly be one of the best things to ever happen to him. The thought of having you gifted to him still felt wrong, but… perhaps he did not need to dread it as much as he had at first.
Stepping forward, he cleared his throat, trying his best to school his features into a pleasant, if slightly detached, expression.
You gasped, raising your arm to hide your face behind your long sleeve. The finch took off, frightened by your sudden movement, and the rest of the flock followed it. The flapping of their wings filled the air, drowning out your greeting as you and your ladies-in-waiting bowed to him.
Jing Yuan felt another smile tug at his lips. He managed to hide it behind his hair as he returned your bow.
Your ladies-in-waiting quickly moved to one side of the walkway, letting him pass. He looked at you as he ascended the bridge. The way you peeked shyly at him over your still-raised sleeve made his heart clench. He sent you what he hoped was a pleasant smile, and nodded towards the path on the opposite side.
“Shall we, my lady?”
Tumblr media
The two of you strolled along the garden path for a while, Jing Yuan filling the air with what idle conversation he could think of, and you giving brief, shy answers.
Then, he heard the flap of wings and felt the touch of tiny claws digging into his hair, brushing against his scalp. Soon, he felt a small tug as the finch began to preen him. He could barely help but chuckle when another finch landed on his shoulder. He felt your gaze on him, then your eyes moved to the bird on his far shoulder.
“Oh!” you exhaled.
Raising his opposite hand, he gently encouraged the bird to hop onto one of his fingers, then moved the hand -with bird- closer to you.
“I have worked quite hard on taming them over the years,” he said. “The most recent brood is the tamest yet; they are the only ones so far to actively seek my presence. Though I suspect they only come to me in hopes of food. Would you like to hold it again?”
You looked away, your sleeve rising once more to hide your face. “Again…” you said, sounding very put on the spot.
Jing Yuan tried to quell his laughter. “I must admit that I was watching you for a moment before making my presence known. What I saw was very… endearing.”
You were silent for a while, then you peeked at him over the top of your sleeve. “May I be frank with you, General?”
He nodded. “Please.”
Staying quiet for a few seconds, you then drew in a deep breath. “I was rather nervous about this meeting. I have heard quite a few rumors about you, about your excellence at anything you do. And I was worried that I might not be able to live up to the expectations of the august general. But… You handle these birds with such tenderness and care. They trust you. Maybe they can trust me too, in time.”
Looking off to the side, you finally lowered your sleeve, clasping your hands in front of you. “I am very fond of small animals. My family owned a couple of tame nightingales when I was a child; I used to love falling asleep while listening to their singing.”
He felt another smile tug at his lips. He too had pleasant memories of falling asleep to the sound of bird song as a child. Though in his case it had been the wild birds outside his windows lulling him to sleep. Sharing such a similar memory with you only made him feel delighted.
Briefly peeking at him, as if to judge his reaction to your words, you then continued, “I have always yearned for a cat too, but my parents would not allow it because of our birds. And I never mustered up the courage to request permission to keep a cat after I arrived at the inner court. Though I doubt the emperor would have indulged me.” You sighed ruefully. “I suppose even now, since birds are favored once again, a pet cat will be impossible. The birds will be enough.”
Jing Yuan looked at you for a moment, stroking his chin. “A cat is a pleasant idea. As the saying goes, ‘a cat well cared for may bring luck to its owner.’ Though if I had my way I should like a lion instead!” When he saw your eyes widen, your mouth starting to open in surprise, he could not stop himself from laughing once more. “I jest, I merely jest! A house cat will suffice! Perhaps we can teach it to leave the birds in peace, or keep it indoors at all times.”
The thought of keeping a cat locked inside, though he doubted it was truly achievable, brought his thoughts back to the way you had been hidden away in the inner court for years. His smile faltered. Would it be right for him to mention his hesitation? Would it assuage you to know that he was far from satisfied with how the situation was handled?
“If I may be so bold, my lady… You were not the only one who had a certain level of apprehension about this meeting.”
You shrank back a little, shoulders slumping. “I… see.”
Jing Yuan saw you raise your hand again, he could only assume to hide your face once more. Without fully realizing what he was doing, he reached out to take your hand in his.
“Please, do not misunderstand me, my dear! It is not because of you, it is the entire situation. I do not much like being given another person as a gift. And I find it wholly unfair to you to be given away once again.”
He had so much more to say on this subject, so many points to make about how the former concubines nearly always came out as the losers in these circumstances. And yet he felt his mind go blank. He brushed his thumb over the back of your hand in an attempt to gather his thoughts. It had the opposite effect. Your hand was softer and more delicate than he could have ever imagined; so different from his own strong, calloused hands. It took every last shred of self control to not raise it to his lips.
Releasing your hand with great reluctance, he forced himself to finish his thoughts. “I am loath to receive a wife under such circumstances, even if she is one I should have quite liked to court of my own volition, had I been allowed to. But in the end it is His Majesty’s decision. Even so, I can promise you this, my dear: No matter what may come, I will always do my utmost to ensure that we are both happy with this union.”
You grasped the hand he had held with your free hand, rubbing the skin, your head bowed enough that he could not see your expression.
“I-I…”
Then you raised your head again, a small smile tugging at your lips. “I must admit, I am quite relieved that you feel that way. That you understand the situation from my point of view too.”
Jing Yuan returned your smile. “As much as I am against this entire circumstance, I must admit… the more I get to know you, my dear, the more I am looking forward to you becoming my wife.”
The two of you talked for a while longer, then Jing Yuan escorted you and your ladies-in-waiting back to the inner court. Seeing the gate leading to the inner court left him with a sense of melancholy he could not quite place. Perhaps he had already grown so accustomed to your presence that the thought of being without you left him empty. It made him look forward to your wedding day even more.
Tumblr media
One early morning, some six months later, Jing Yuan was found crouched over a rosebush in the small garden of his residence, pruning shears in hand. It was something he refused to give up, no matter how many people told him it was below his rank to tend to his own garden. Gardening was one of the few things that truly cleared his mind, one of the few still moments of the day that allowed him to relax. And today, he needed it.
He had already spent several hours lying awake, tossing and turning, his mind whirring, until finally giving up on sleep once he heard the first birds singing outside. Rolling over, he pressed a kiss against your bare shoulder, then left the bed to start his day.
The air outside was cold enough that his breath created little puffs of mist, the remnants of frost biting his cheeks. He paid it little mind; it helped clear his head. And so, he crouched over the few bushes that needed pruning this early in spring, settling into a calming rhythm as the world around him slowly grew from a milky gray to pink and orange.
His rhythm was disturbed as something brushed up against his knee. Looking down, he spotted the white kitten he had presented to you on your wedding day, just a few days before the new year began. You had been infatuated with the cat (as had he, as were both of you even now), and you had aptly named it Snowmoon in honor of the full moon hanging in the sky, casting lambent light over the snow-covered ground of the garden outside your windows.
The memory of that night still made him smile.
Snowmoon raised itself on its hind legs, the little bell on its collar jingling. It propped its front paws against his knee, and chirped imploringly. Jing Yuan could only assume that he had been so engrossed in his gardening that the sound of the bell had gone unnoticed.
How did you get out? he wondered as he picked up the kitten, holding it up in front of him.
The kitten returned his gaze evenly with its brilliantly blue eyes and began to purr. Cradling it to his chest, he stood, intending to put the cat back inside. It had yet to learn that the birds of the garden were off-limits. And the birds had yet to learn what the sound of the bell signified.
But as he stood, he caught sight of another figure in the morning light. You were bundled up in several layers of clothing, seemingly ready to spend a while outside.
Jing Yuan frowned. “What are you doing out of bed, my love?” he asked. “It is still so early.”
You looked away, trying to hide the shy smile forming on your lips. You were still not used to the terms of endearment which he favored.
“I wanted to lend you a hand,” you said.
He appreciated the sentiment. But he found it difficult to imagine you crouching in the dirt like he had been.
“There is no need, my dear, I am almost finished.”
Your mouth set in a stubborn line. “Then I will help with the last of it.”
The firmness in your voice made his heart flutter. He enjoyed all the work you put into getting to know him better. And he made sure to return it tenfold.
“Very well, my love. Let me just put this little rascal back inside.”
As he came outside once again, he found you crouched over the rosebush he had been working on, your long sleeves almost trailing in the dirt.
That will not do.
Jing Yuan pulled out the long ribbon holding his hair as he moved closer. Crouching behind you, he deftly wound it first underneath one sleeve, across your back, then underneath the other sleeve, tying it at your shoulder. His actions left your arms bare, sleeves far out of harm’s way.
You shivered in the cold air, goosebumps forming on your newly exposed skin.
Jing Yuan rubbed your arms, trying to get some warmth into your body. “You are still free to go inside.”
You huffed. “I will not.”
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to your temple.
Handing you the pruning shears, he showed you where to prune, guiding your hands. The two of you chatted idly about the roses for a while, when he expected them to bloom and what colors he had planted. Then the topic moved to the future as a whole.
“Tell me, my love,” Jing Yuan said, wrapping his arms around you, “I know you have only been with me for a few short months, but how do you like it so far?”
You leaned back against him, nestling further into his embrace.
“I enjoy it so very much. I appreciate the freedom I have, compared to the inner court. And…” You turned enough to meet his gaze, raising a hand to caress his cheek. “I have grown quite fond of the master of this house.”
He felt a smile tugging at his lips. “Oh? Do I need to be jealous of this man?”
“Perhaps,” you said, a smile lingering on your own mouth. “He has been very kind to me.”
“I suppose I shall have to be even kinder, then,” he said, before leaning in to press a kiss to your lips.
Maybe there really was something to the saying of ‘a cat well cared for may bring luck to its owner.’ Jing Yuan was certainly feeling very fortunate at that moment.

I love and think about Emperor Jing Yuan a lot. Like a servant girl getting called in to be the emperor Jing Yuan's Concubine 😋
I love ancient China like the history, art and clothing. when I think about Chinese Emperor Jing Yuan I think of Cinderella Chef (animated version) it's so cute and romantic. I also think about the fic series I used to read in 2020 or 2019 when the reader is the selected tailor for the emperor and the emperor falls in love.
It was such a good story, with many good different story elements to it even though it's was an yandere x reader 😭 and I'm not even exaggerating how good it is. It was slow burn yandere yet sooo good and worth it
I have to read it again cause it's sooo good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's sooo many good art of Jing Yuan in ancient Chinese clothing and I love and appreciate it sm 🤤
Jing Yuan kept a servant girl as his concubine, wanting her by his side every moment. As emperor, he faced countless threats and worried constantly for her safety. Yet, he couldn’t resist making her his bride, even though the public and his family disapproved. How could a servant girl from a humble background become empress alongside the emperor? But he paid no attention to their criticisms, choosing instead to live in his Fantasies with her. She was the only woman he’d ever met who cared for him beyond his wealth and title, and he was determined to keep her close forever. 😇
Wow, I also like Chinese palace stories actually!! What you said made me imagine a lot. It turns out that Jing Yuan is so suitable for the palace AU🥰✊
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you watched "Story of Yanxi Palace"? It was a popular palace drama in 2018, and social media was all about it at that time. The historical prototype of the female protagonist is Empress Xiaoyichun (孝儀純皇后). She first started as a concubine. During her lifetime, she was the "Imperial Noble Consort" (皇貴妃), which was the highest position among the concubines after Empress. The core of its story is about a confident servant woman who starts from the bottom and moves up through the ranks with wisdom and courage.
A negative example is "Ruyi's royal love in the palace". The show still gets a lot of negative criticism in China today (yes, that's happening in 2024) - for its slut-shaming and superiority theories. The lower class people must be loyal to the noble people, otherwise they will be severely punished. There are a lot of torture scenes of women, never criticizing the mistakes of the misogynistic system, vilifying all historical figures just to beautify the female protagonists, advocating that women must be loyal to one man throughout their lives or else they are sluts, vilifying and torturing ambitious women, etc.
Oh, I'm sorry I really hate that TV show so I'm talking too much about it, but to get back to the point, it occurred to me that if Jing Yuan were the emperor, he would be very - very infatuated and dedicated. There was an emperor in Chinese history called "Emperor Xiaozong of Ming"(明孝宗) who insisted on living a monogamous life with only one empress. The same is true for Jing Yuan! Jing Yuan has only married you from beginning to end! You are one of his servants. No matter what your personality is, witty and lively/shy and kind, or even arrogant, Jing Yuan finds you really cute🥰💖He is very happy that you entered the palace and were assigned to serve him. He will sometimes sleep on your lap and ask you to feed him. He was like a big sleeping lion. But no one in politics dares to underestimate Jing Yuan because he always predicts everything.
Jing Yuan built a fruit garden in the palace, as well as a place to raise cats and birds. He got to pet cute cats and birds every day. The kittens purred around him. Maybe you were the servant who took care of the cats here. And he discovered you💖You are so suitable to be the mother of cats. And maybe he's hiding his identity and you care about his health and happiness before his status.
Politics and the harem are closely related. Those ministers petitioned Jing Yuan to marry a girl who matched his status, but he would not marry any girl except you. This is his own business! There was an emperor named "Emperor Gaozong of Tang"(唐高宗) in Chinese history. Despite the objections of his ministers, he insisted on marrying his father's concubine (named "Wuzhao"- 武曌) as his queen and sharing power with her. This is a very real love among emperors! After her husband's death, the queen became the only female emperor of China. The expression of the emperor's love for someone is to give them the best at all costs, including power, fame, wealth, and status. Jing Yuan wants to give it to you. He married you. Based on your status as a maid, you start as a concubine but work your way up. And he will also give birth to kitty babies with you. Those little princesses and princes running happily are all of your blood and his.
And he also decided to discuss politics and decide national affairs with you, collectively called "two saints" (based on Wuzhao's history haha), and share power with you. Because he knows how smart and cute you are, able to sharpen your claws and handle government affairs💖He is also ready to build a royal mausoleum, where only the two of you are buried together (it may be a bit scary, but this is how the Chinese emperors express their love haha). Even after Wuzhao became the empress, she didn’t build a mausoleum independently because she loved her husband. No matter what, you are always together, with sweetness and honor forever💖

Catalog of LBFaD drama name origins
Mythology -> book -> drama
Dongfang Qingcang / 东方青苍: The origins of this name are hotly contested, and to be honest the only hypothesis I remember is the Azure Dragon of the East. East being "Dongfang," and the dragon itself being alternatively called "Qing long" and "Cang long." (x)
Haotian Tower / 昊天塔: The tower where DFQC was imprisoned in, in both media. There's no Haotian Tower in mythology, but "Haotian God" is one of the names of the emperor of heaven. (x)
Ninth You / Jiuyou / 九幽: One name for the mythological netherworld, the capital city of the Moon Tribe in the drama. The capital city of the devil tribe in the book. (x)
Sansheng / 三生: The name comes from the "Three Lives Stone" (sansheng shi 三生石), which represents a lot of things in Chinese tradition, but probably the most salient being a rock in the underworld near the Oblivion River. In the novel universe, the rock is graffitied with the names of the ones the dead passing by wished to see most. The stone seems to have transformed into human form in the first book of the series, succinctly titled Sansheng, which tells the love story between Sansheng and Moxi, the novelverse God of War. (x)
Siming / 司命: A folk god, and usually male, who oversees human fates. In the CLJ novel she is responsible for writing the Fate Books. (x)
Xirang / 息壤: Mythological self-expanding-and-growing soil. Although it plays a key role in the book, it only appears in a throwaway line in the drama, when Changheng suggests building XLH a new body out of it. (x)
Mythology/literature/history -> drama
Chengying Sword / 承影剑: One of the ten famous swords of China, in historical and literary tradition. From the Spring and Autumn Period. (x)
Chonghua / 重华: Chonghua is the given name of a legendary emperor of China. (x)
Haotian Matrix / 昊天阵: "Haotian God" is one of the names of the emperor of heaven. (x)
Hellfire / 业火: A Buddhist concept, the fires of karma. (I'm pretty vague on what it actually is and where it exists.) In the book, DFQC's powerful fire is usually just called "raging flames" (lieyan 烈焰), and it's red instead of blue. (x)
Liyuan / 澧沅: Li and Yuan are two of the four big rivers that flow through Hunan. Coincidentally, also the names of two of the four rivers that flow into Shuiyuntian, that flooded when DFQC broke the pearl. (x)
Love Tree / Seven-Emotions Tree / 七情树: The name "seven-emotions tree" comes from the phrase "seven emotions and six desires," (qi qing liu yu 七情六欲). The exact emotions and desires this refers to differ based on school of thought. (x)
Lord Dong / 东君: A deity often paired with Yunzhong-jun as one of the two primordial gods. Seems to be a sun deity. His name literally means "Lord East." (x)
Lord Yunzhong / 云中君: A god from mythology, often paired with Lord Dong as one of the two primordial gods. Sometimes interpreted as a woman. (x)
Oblivion River / Wang Chuan / 忘川: A river in the land of the dead. To cross it, you must first drink a soup that makes you forget your past lives. (x)
Qu Shui / 曲水: Literally "winding waters," the name of Xiao Run's pageboy might come from the upper-class drinking game "Qu Shui Liu Shang" 曲水流觞, in which players "wait by a winding stream and compose poems before their cups full of rice wine float down to reach them." His nickname Ququ'r is phonetically very similar and means cricket. (x x)
Return to Ruin Realm / Guixu Zhi Jing / 归墟之境: "Guixu" was a place far to the east, that every body of water eventually emptied into. The characters break down into "return (to)" and "ruins." The "Zhi Jing" makes it "Region of Guixu" or "Guixu Area." (x)
Tai Sui / 太岁: A folk deity, but not necessarily evil. (x)
Xuanwu God / 古神灵玄武: Xuanwu is a constellation representing a tortoise-snake spirit. (x)
Xunfeng / 巽风: His name most likely comes from the "xun" trigram of the Eight Trigrams, of which the element is wind, or "feng." (x)
Yingzhao / 英招: Legendary creature that has the body of a horse, the face of a man, stripes like a tiger, and wings of a bird. Not like our waddling ball of fur at all. (x)
Yunmeng Lake / 云梦泽: One of the largest lakes in China in ancient times, now mostly nonexistent. (x)
Book -> drama
Bone Orchid / Gu Lan / 骨兰: It has more of a dried-vine aesthetic in the book.
Chidi Nüzi / 赤地女子: The god of war of the heavenly realm, in both media. DFQC's nemesis and the object of A'Hao's obsession.
Dayu Battalion / 大庾兵: Only mentioned once in the drama, along with the Tieyu Battalion 铁羽兵, as forces that Shangque has mobilized in response to Xunfeng's insurrection. Dayu's the name of DFQC's adorable (to me) pet sky/sea serpent.
Destruction of Heaven / Ruins of Ten Thousand Heavens / Wan Tian Zhi Xu / 万天之墟: A formless place where Siming can be found, in both the drama and the book. The book series further specifies that the Destruction of Heaven sits above the Three Realms and the Endless Desolate City (无极慌城 wu ji huang cheng) below.
Dieyi / 蝶衣: Ronghao's loyal right-hand woman is also present in the book.
Fairy Execution Platform / Zhu Xian Tai / 诛仙台: Where Changheng is to be executed after talking back to Yunzhong. In the book this was a platform over a mass of the book equivalent to evil qi/suiqi, which XLH was cast off from, almost getting eaten alive by the evil qi.
Fate Books / Mingbu / 命簿: The combination of these two characters seem to be an invention of the novel, and are records of the destinies of living people collected and administered by the land of the dead.
Fate Tree / Mingge Shu / 命格树: "Mingge," in both the novelverse and in the Love You Seven Times drama, are the stories high immortals (in CLJ's case, Siming) write to direct the fate of mortals. I'm not clear on the distinction between mingbu and mingge in the CLJ book.
Lucheng / 鹿城: In the book, a militarily important city of the Jin Dynasty, although the drama has styled it more into the Tang Dynasty, some thousand-plus years later.
Ronghao / 容昊: In the book, the wheelchair-bound master of the demon commerce city who's later revealed to be Chidi's obsessed student. We're not given the first character of his name in the book; it only ever calls him A'Hao.
Shangque / 觞阙: The name of the prime minister of the devil realm in the book, horrified by DFQC's erratic behavior while his body is being partially controlled by XLH. Show!Shangque's personality likely came from Dayu, Book!DFQC's overpowered flying serpent who follows him around like a loyal dog.
Shuofeng Sword / 朔风剑: "Cold northwest wind" sword, it's Chidi Nüzi's weapon in the book and the drama. It stays in sword form in the book, but becomes a geographical feature and a seal in the show.
Thousand Dreamland / Thousandfold Illusion / 千重幻境: A realm of endless very similar illusions that Ronghao/A'Hao tries to trap DFQC in to prevent him from finding XLH, in both media.
Xiao Lan Hua / Orchid / 小兰花: Our heroine!
Xie Wanqing / 谢惋卿: One of Chidi Nüzi's mortal incarnations in both media. However, in the book she is a general who's betrayed by the man she loves, an ordinary mortal, while XLH and DFQC watch.
Misc
Changheng / 长珩: Changheng's not in the book, but the book does have a troublemaker by the name of Changming 长命 who is DFQC's biggest "love rival" (he's like ten years old), and I wonder if the "Chang" part of Changheng's name comes from Changming.
Flying Fairy Pavilion / Life-Ending Pavilion / 飞仙阁: A reference to Xie Wanqing's real identity as the Fairy God of War. Also a euphemism for death.
Haishi / 海市: Conceptually, comes from the demon/nature sprite city, yaoshi 妖市, in the book. For the drama they got rid of the demon part and called it Haishi, Sea City.
Tongyun / 彤云: Xie Wanqing's maid, and an actual word that refers to red clouds or "dark clouds before snow." (x)
Xiao Run / 萧润: I'm not sure the Run part of his name is a reference to anything, but the Xiao is probably there to make the Xiao-lang wordplay work. (x)
Yannü 盐女 and Cangyan Sea 苍盐海: The "yan" is the same as in "Yannü." Which came first, I wonder? (The "cang" is the same as in Dongfang Qingcang.)
Sans Data
I do not know any special origins of, or was too lazy to look up:

We've had madam lan/binghe x Qinghengjun/Shen yuan, zhuliu binghe and wen chao yuan, but what about wen ruohan and lan Qiren?
You bring up a great point!
Luo Binghe gets to live out his fantasies of being a righteous Qing Jing cultivator getting kidnapped by the bad boy (and equally hot) version of shizun.
Why yes, I'm saying that Luo Binghe is Lan Qiren. It's funnier that way. Plus Luo Binghe doesn't have to live being given suspicious looks by cultivators and being doubted the truthfulness of his promises all the time (as no doubt happens in SVSSS being a demon emperor and all).
Plus Wen Chen and Wen Xu get whipped into proper cultivators by their dad aka Shen Qingqiu. Shen Qingqiu would also make a far better emperor of the cultivation world - he's more hands on and good at paperwork/bureaucratic stuff. Luo Binghe gets to be the Lan consort who's been kidnapped by the wicked Wen and tied down every night for dastardly bed sports.
Luo Binghe gets a little too into roleplaying all of this, as you can imagine.
It's a good thing that Shen Yuan is used to indulging his husband's silly whims.
[More in #luo binghe and shen yuan transmigrate as Lan Qiren and Wen Ruohan AU]

I'm back!!!
I'm back!! I was literally in no spirits to write fanfics, but thinking about picking it back up again.
Really have been in a Honkai Star Rail brain rot lately (mostly about xianzhou men ^^), and many ideas just popped into my brain. So please read through all of it and tell me which one you think I should start first. And please repost or share it with others! Comments are important!! I know it's long, but just bear with me. It's vital for me (>.<)
Long Fics:
Jing Yuan x Reader
Trope: Childhood friends to lovers
Relationships: Jing Yuan x Reader, TBD
About: Based off of a Ming dynasty emperor who only loved one woman (his childhood friend) for his whole life.
Reader Gender: Female
Tags: Fluff, Angst, Hurt/comfort, Ancient China au, childhood friends to lovers, Honkai Star Rail x Reader, hsr x reader, female! Reader, jing yuan x reader, hsr jing yuan, honkai star rail jing yuan, jing yuan x you
♡ ꒰ ◞ ◟ ꒱⌒)ᦱ 𓈒 ૮₍ ´ . ˕ .` ₎ა 𓈒 ⊹ ໒ ꐦ `ヮ ´ ა
Dan Heng x Reader
Trope: Reincarnation
Relationship: Dan Heng x Reader, TBD
About: Loosely based off of the c-drama 三生三世 (it’s really just an ost that inspired me). Dan Heng loves reader for the longest time, but instead of him reincarnating, it’s reader. Basically, reader is mortal while Dan Heng is immortal and heavenly law states that immortals aren’t allowed to fall in love with mortals. Essentially Dan Heng breaks that rule many times and gets punished many times (i.e. heavenly prison, loss of status, etc). And what if reader becomes immortal one day?
Reader Gender: Neutral

Jing Yuan x Reader
Trope: Maiden and knight
Relationships: Jing Yuan x Reader, TBD
About: Another one based loosely off of c-drama (again, it’s the ost doing it for me). This time loosely based off of Love Like the Galaxy. Some characters may be more calculating  than in the show. Only really thought of this cuz of Jing Yuan being a general.
Reader Gender: Neutral

Blade x Reader
Trope: Good x Evil
Relationships: Blade x Reader, TBD
About: Another another loosely inspired by the c-drama, Love Between Fairy and Devil. Though no, reader isn’t really gonna be an innocent dunce from the start. May display dumb, but not make it her personality. People around reader keep trying to tell them to stay away from the evil ones, but reader doesn’t really listen (cuz folks really don’t be telling them what the evil people look like) and ends up meeting the leader of said evil forces, Blade. Plot starts towards the beginning of the war between the good and evil.

Dan Heng x Reader
Trope: Can MDZS be a trope itself?
Relationships: Dan Heng x Reader, TBD
About: Inspired by MDZS/The Untamed. Although it won’t be danmei and will deviate with the fact it’s more chronological than having long periods of flashbacks (yes I’m looking at you Untamed, why tf did you spend so many episodes on flashbacks and then everything after just went by so quickly??? But that’s just my opinion -- anyways). Obviously not everything is going to be 100% accurate since this is a fanfic inspired by MDZS/The Untamed and Star Rail isn’t that.
Reader Gender: Neutral
Tags: Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, guzhuang, Honkai Star Rail x Reader, hsr x reader, gn! Reader, gn! Reader, dan heng x  reader, hsr dan heng, dan heng x you,  suggestive, resurrection
♡ ꒰ ◞ ◟ ꒱⌒)ᦱ 𓈒 ૮₍ ´ . ˕ .` ₎ა 𓈒 ⊹ ໒ ꐦ `ヮ ´ ა
Blade x Reader
Trope: Princ(ess) and knight
Relationships: Blade x Reader, Dan Heng & Reader (platonic)
About: Blade is assigned to be the personal guard of lord/lady by none other than their brother, Dan Heng. The lord/lady only thought of Blade as a sword and shield, they never thought they’d ever fall for the man with many mysteries. Yet they know, that those who hold many mysteries are the ones most likely to betray and use. That was just the way of court life. However, a small part of them just hopes -- wishes that Blade would never betray or use them for ulterior motives.
Reader Gender: Neutral
Tags: Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, guzhuang, Honkai Star Rail x Reader, hsr x reader, gn! Reader, gn! Reader, blade x reader, hsr blade, hsr blade x reader, blade x you, hsr blade x you, protective! Blade
♡ ꒰ ◞ ◟ ꒱⌒)ᦱ 𓈒 ૮₍ ´ . ˕ .` ₎ა 𓈒 ⊹ ໒ ꐦ `ヮ ´ ა
Luocha x Reader
Trope: Immortal and mortal
Relationships: Luocha x Reader, Fu Xuan (just filling in the role of the monk)
About: Based off of the Legend of the White Snake. Deviation will occur. Reader doesn’t have a sister, and Luocha is an actual doctor not scholar.  Reader will not be imprisoned in a pagoda (like is some shows/rendition of the story).
Reader Gender: Neutral
Tags: Fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, guzhuang, Honkai Star Rail x Reader, hsr x reader, gn! Reader,  luocha x reader, hsr luocha, luocha x you, hsr luocha x you

One-Shots
Jing Yuan x Reader
About: Very loosely based off of Fuhao, the Shang dynasty warrior queen. Reader is is a priestess and  a warrior, going off to fight battles and returning victorious until one day, she didn’t return. Stricken with grief, Jing Yuan prepares a burial and tomb for his beloved queen.
Reader Gender: Female

He had never seen someone like them before, so curiosity getting the best of him, he approaches them. Only for them to turn and look at him. That’s when he froze, both in embarrassment and in fear. Empire
Jing Yuan x Stelle
Arranged Marriage AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Your Highness, look, the palace!”
Stelle barely heard March’s exclamation as the young woman pointed excitedly out the window towards the towering fortress that came into view.
Its golden, arching rooftops glistened under the bright sunlight, powerful and imposing against a backdrop of blue.
Xianzhou Palace was a beautiful cage, Stelle thought to herself dismally. One that would soon become her own prison.
Stelle’s hands twisted between the layers of tulle and silk that made up her skirt, her chest heaving against the pressure of her corset. Her gloves clung uncomfortably to her sweaty palms, and she wondered what would happen if she were to simply leap from the carriage and run.
She had heard the jurisdiction of the Luofu was an amenable place to start a small business, perhaps she could start a new life within the city itself rather than committing herself to this- this farce.
Stelle had never wanted to be a princess, she wanted even less to be a bargaining chip to ensure allegiance with the neighbouring empire.
And yet by some cruel twist of fate, here she was. Worth no more than the dowry she brought to a man she had not yet met.
A sigh passed her lips, knowing any daydreams of escaping were greatly hindered by her finery. If only she had been allowed to wear something a little more freeing, perhaps she would have had a better chance–
The carriage came to a stop, and Stelle found herself being ushered out to face the main entrance to the palace. Conscious of the chidings she would receive from her entourage, she tried her best not to squint as a figure appeared at the top of the stairs.
Flanked on each side by a row of guards, their clothes were blinding in the sunlight, each step forward digging the dread deeper into her heart.
“The Divine Foresight, Emperor Jing Yuan, humbly greets his honoured guests,” A herald cried, and Stelle’s blood turned cold.
She gasped as Emperor Jing Yuan descended from the last few steps, the drapes of his hanfu gracefully falling down the lengths of his body. Swathes of silver and maroon silk gathered in layers and layers, and yet it did nothing to hide his impressive stature.
He appeared to be somewhere in his late thirties, his handsome features framed by his thick, snowy white hair. There was a calmness in his presence that felt infallible- something that Stelle could never hope to replicate.
And from behind that curtain of fair hair shone warm eyes and an even warmer smile.
Stelle’s jaw dropped to the floor.
She was certain she heard March nervously squeak from behind her.
In her imagination, Jing Yuan had been a decrepit old man, or a weaselly youth.
She had never entertained the idea that he would be anything like the man that stood before her.
“It is an honour to meet you, my princess.” His deep voice very nearly purred with a familiarity that was not suited towards strangers.
A shiver curled down her spine at the sound.
“Emperor,” Stelle managed to greet, her tongue turned to cotton in her mouth.
Stiltedly, she lowered herself into a curtsey, eyes downcast.
“Please,” He chuckled, and Stelle lifted her eyes towards him, “There is no need for such formalities. ‘Husband’ will do just fine.”
Stelle swallowed.
“But we are not yet wed,” She responded dumbly.
“Not yet. But it is only a matter of time, no?” Jing Yuan answered charmingly.
He shocked her as he closed the distance between them, his hand outstretched towards her.
Stelle’s heart stilled, the weight of her choice heavy on her shoulders. A large part of her still wished to run, to escape her fate and find her freedom, the damages it would cause be damned.
This was never what she had wanted, and it never would be.
But as she looked down at his hand, at the calluses that marred his fingers and his palm, another part of her whispered that perhaps she would be safe in his embrace.
A deep breath, and she placed her hand in his.
“Stelle.” He smiled, his fingers curling around her, clasping their palms together in an unbreakable promise.
Jing Yuan raised their clasped hands as he bowed, his lips brushing over her knuckles.
“It is my honour to welcome you to your new home.”

[TRANS] 190707 IU’s China Fanclub ‘OnlyU-IU China’ showers IU, her team and Hotel Del Luna staff with love and gifts
It was revealed on July 6 that IU’s China Fanclub ‘OnlyU-IU China’ (@onlyIUcn on twitter) sent a coffee truck, buffet catering service and many gifts to the set of Hotel Del Luna. OnlyIUcn then shared some details of the thoughtful presents that they prepared specially for IU, IU Team and Hotel Del Luna’s staff members.
“As soon as IU confirmed her role in ‘Hotel Del Luna’, our staff members started preparing for this fansupport which took us months of effort. Previously, we predicted that they would kick off the production in April so we prioritised IU’s birthday gift first (in May). Other than organising charity events, we chose GUCCI’s A Kiss from Violet perfumed oil from ‘The Alchemist’s Garden’ collection. This perfumed oil is said to emit the purest, nonirritant and long-lasting scent due to its significantly lower alcohol content as compared to other perfumes. Since this collection has yet to be launched in China, South Korea and Japan, so our Uaenas from ShenZhen travelled to Hong Kong to purchase it for IU. We chose this perfume because it’s violet scented and also symbolises our ‘flying kiss’ to IU.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second birthday gift was carefully decided after taking Man Wol’s character into consideration, which is Diptyque’s limited edition ‘The Legend of the North’ series’ candles. We purchased Sapin de Lumiere (Pine Tree of Light) (Green) and Baume d’Ambre (Amber Balm) (blue) candles and candlestick to match with Man Wol’s aloof aura ^u^ What’s special about this series is that the candle jar is deigned by HERMES’ scarf designer.
Tumblr media
Sapin de Lumiere (Pine Tree of Light) Candle – Green – This is a staple in all Diptyque Christmas candles. It carries the unmistakeable green scent of pine, warmed and evoking crisp air, pine cones and a freshness of pine needles.
Tumblr media
Baume d’Ambre (Amber Balm) Candle – Blue – A warm, spicy scent of benzoin, lavender and vanilla. Not too strong, with a freshness of lavender.
Tumblr media
'A Kiss from Violet’ and ‘The Legend of The North’ on set~

Our certificate of making donation, including common ingredients and necessities to the Welfare institue of Xuchang, Henan Province.
Tumblr media
“To Miss IU Lee Jieun:
We have received 544 baby pampers, 100 boxes of colored pencils, 100 drawing blocks, 35 big bags of rice, 35 packs of flour, 24 bottles of oil with the total amounted to 6092.40 yuan from your China fans.
We hereby express our gratitude for your act of kindness!”
A Chinese poem about the moon for IU
Tumblr media
Poem: The Moon Festival by Su Shi
When will the moon be clear and bright? With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky. I don't know what season it would be in the heavens on this night. I'd like to ride the wind to fly home. Yet I fear the crystal and jade mansions are much too high and cold for me. Dancing with my moon-lit shadow, It does not seem like the human world. The moon rounds the red mansion stoops to silk-pad doors, Shines upon the sleepless Bearing no grudge, Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart? People may have sorrow or joy, be near or far apart, The moon may be dim or bright, wax or wane, This has been going on since the beginning of time. May we all be blessed with longevity though far apart, We are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.
Even though we are thousands of miles and oceans (Yellow Sea) apart, nothing can stop us from surrendering our hearts to the full moon (Man Wol) C-Uaenas present president Jang Man Wol this poem And may the opening of Hotel Del Luna blossom
*Yellow Sea is a marginal sea of the Pacific Ocean located between mainland China and the Korean Peninsula. *Full Moon is pronounced the same way as Man Wol in both Chinese and Korean.
Note: This is a famous Mid-Autumn lyric written by Sushi(a poet in Song Dynasty) for his brother Zi-you(1039-1112) when the poet was away from the imperial court. According to some commentators, "the palace on high" might allude to the imperial palace and therefore, after reading this lyric, Emperor Song Shen Zong said that Su Shi was loyal.
We also prepared Voluspa aromatherapy candles for IU Team and the staff of Hotel Del Luna.
Tumblr media
Shuijingfang liquor for director Oh Choong Hwan.
Tumblr media
Long Jing and Taiping Houkui tea for the Hong Sisters (scriptwriters)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for actor Yeo Jin Goo, we prepared Scent Library X White Rabbit fragrance product gift set (perfume, hand cream, body lotion)
Tumblr media
(We forgot to take a picture of the actual gift, but it’s within the black paper bag. The other bags included tea bags, liquor, candles and IU’s Gucci perfume)
Tumblr media
For the Hotel Del Luna team, we also prepared the HDL customised towels, Forbidden City imperial kitchen’s fridge magnets, Ghana chocolate and greeting cards
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This Forbidden City imperial kitchen fridge magnet symbolises our food support and the ghosts that we sent from the Forbidden City to check into Hotel Del Luna hahahah)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We included a greeting card in each gift bag with the message “Thanks to your hardwork on such scorching hot weather, we get to enjoy a nice and cool summer. Thank you! Hwaiting!”
We started preparing for the buffet since long ago, and we especially requested them to prepare IU’s favourite tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes) and Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)! We tried to match the decoration with president Man Wol’s extravagant style by adding the golden chairs~ The banners and pictures on table were all specially designed by our art team.
Tumblr media
We also sent a refreshing coffee truck to the set for Man Wol and the HDL team~
Tumblr media
No gifts can fully express our support and excitement for Man Wol. So we hope our sincerity can be conveyed by at least a bit! We only wish for our Man Wol to be truly happy!

Sunday mused to himself as he gently ran his fingers through your hair, then bending down to you, his lips gently brushed against your ear, “it’s time to wake up, dove.”
His soothing voice washed over you, your whole body felt all warm and cozy, it was like being enveloped into a comfortable embrace on a winter morning.
Opening your eyes, you found yourself staring up at what you believed was an angel. And judging by the wings sprouting from his head, you knew you weren’t too far off the mark.
“You’re so beautiful,” you whispered those words as you continued to look up at him. Your confession made him smile at you, his hand still running through your hair.
“Thank you, dove, but don’t you have any questions for me?”
You shook your head, “I know I’m dead… what is there to ask?”
“A second chance, perhaps?”
You froze at that before lifting yourself from his lap and turning to him while sitting on your knees, your eyes a bit hopeful, “like going back in time and starting over?!”
Sunday chuckled to himself for a moment before shaking his head, “I can’t send you back. Time isn’t what I am able to control. However, I am able to erase what all has happened to you. In other words, I can make it to where your death hasn’t even happened.”
You thought over his words for a moment, “so you can’t send me back, but you can erase it? To how far back can you go?”
“As far back as I want,” he said as he lifted his hand to caress your cheek, “I could even erase your very existence.”
He watched your face contort into one of fear being patting your cheek softly before letting his hand fall from your face, “but don’t worry, I would never do that to you.”
You steadied your breathing before asking your next question, “so… since I am seeing you now… does that mean you plan on erasing something?”
“You could say that,” Sunday mused, “I want to erase your death and all the way up to that little amnesia plan of yours.”
“Only that far?!”
He smiled at you, “I am an impatient man, I don’t want to erase too far back and wait to see what unfolds.”
“… Why are you doing this for me?”
“Because I want to see if you can win.”
“Win?”
“The emperor has no laws for himself, no weaknesses. You could change that.”
You could only shrug, “kind of hard to do that when I can’t fool him. Not to mention he has a few favorite maids he likes to entertain.”
Sunday reached for you and patted your head, “but remember dove, it was Blade’s protectiveness that gave you away. Manage to not let Blade or Dan Heng find out about you, then your life would be easier.”
“That reminds me, who was the man who had helped Jing Yuan anyway?”
“That was Moze. An assassin. Be careful around him too. Honestly though, I am surprised he wasn’t your first obstacle…”
You shook your head with a smile before standing up, Sunday joining you, “so I guess this means you will send me back now?”
“Of course,” he said while getting closer to you, his lips gently pressing to your forehead which immediately caused a glowing light to surround you.
“Wait- I never got your name,” you said as you started to disappear.
Sunday merely smiled, “I am sure I am mentioned in a few books here and there, find my name there, and if we meet again, tell me what you think my name is.”
That was the last thing he said, then that warmth was gone, and you found yourself waking up in a cold sweat. Your breathing was hard, erratic. Looking around for a moment, you hastily got out of bed and went to your desk. On it sat a calendar.
“So,” you muttered to yourself, “I really am back to the day I decided to try and get amnesia…, and how did he explain it? He couldn’t control time, so he didn’t send me back. No, instead he said it was more like he was erasing the events that had happened… but what sort of being could possibly do that? No god in any religion I have heard of have ever been able to do that… Maybe I should go to the library today and see if I can figure out anything that way.”
Nodding to yourself, you went to your closet to fish out some decent clothes to wear (a dress that was easy to move around in since you didn’t plan to enact any more plans for the time being). And just as you made it to the door and opened it, you paused.
“Oh… hello, Blade.”
A part of you still couldn’t believe that that mysterious man erased the events that had happened, so there was only one thing to test out that theory. And that was talking to Blade, of course. Ever since you came here Blade has been like your shadow. Not once has he ever spoken to you or tried to speak. And you didn’t bother to talk to him either as a sort of defiance of not talking to anyone. But it was all too clear to you now that even if you don’t talk to anyone, the Emperor wouldn’t care.
Blade looked down at you, his gaze hardening as he glared at you, but he offered no greeting in return.
Well fine, be an ass, you thought begrudgingly as you turned on your heel and headed in the direction of the library. Blade already following you, hot on your heel as a shadow would be.
The library wasn’t hard to find, but it was a pain to get there due to how far it was from your room. But whatever, you were here now.
“Now, if I was a deity that can erase events… what book would I be in?”
You said those words quietly enough so Blade wouldn’t hear. Glancing behind you, you noticed how he stayed near the door, completely uninterested in what you were doing. Perfect.
So, you got to work.
You passed by multiple genres of books but eventually settled on a few pertaining to religion, history, a few fictional since they had titles and descriptions correlating with your situation, and even a few books that described creatures that looked a lot like the man you met.
Rolling a small cart, you brought it over to a couch and plopped down.
“Now, let’s see what I can find!”
Six hours later and you thought you were going to pass away. The fictional books were entertaining and served as good breaks, but they didn’t help you in the slightest of mentioning who could erase events that had happened!
It felt like you were about to rip your hair out! Sighing heavily and closing the current book you had in your lap; you went to get up and return the books all to their rightful place. You originally thought of leaving them out and letting someone else put them back, but you didn’t want a surprise visit from the emperor who would start asking about your sudden interest in historical and religious themes.
Once done putting them back, you settled for grabbing a single book to read. It was a fairy tale where a princess is saved by a prince. Sitting back down on the couch, you lay back and grinned at the title. Despite being a princess… you doubted any prince would dare to come save you.
Though, as soon as you opened the book and started reading once again, your eyes started to grow heavy and before too long, you fell asleep. Your breathing evened out and the book was held tightly against your chest as you curled up on your side. A small smile on your face.
Though, not too long after you fell asleep, the Emperor was walking by the room, “Blade? It’s uncommon to see you guarding the library,” Jing Yuan mused at the guard.
Blade huffed and jutted his head towards the open door, “the princess decided to read today.”
Jing Yuan hummed to the information and walked in, his eyes scanned the room for a moment before landing on your sleeping figure.
“Seems to me like she is sleeping more than she is reading.”
Blade came to stand next to the Emperor, arms crossed over his chest, “she was in here all the day.”
“That so?”
Blade nodded wordlessly as Jing Yuan walked over to your sleeping figure. His body knelt next to you, looking over you, he then noticed the book that was in your arms. Plucking the book from your grasp, he looked over the title.
“Foolish girl,” Jing Yuan mused as noticed how the book entailed a princess being saved by a prince.
“She wouldn’t be foolish if you just treated like an actual fiancé.”
“Its not everyday that I hear you defending my rewards from conquest.”
Blade shrugged, “I am only stating the obvious. Furthermore… I am bored of following her around.”
Jing Yuan let out a laugh as he stood back up, “then introduce her to other things that the castle has to offer. I’m sure even you can handle that task since you are so bored.”
Blade bowed slightly as Jing Yuan decided to take his leave.
“Of course, Emperor.”
And when he was gone, Blade looked back to you, his glare still present on his face.

“Come along, Blade.”
You watched as Blade looked to you and then back at the emperor, “do you not want me to watch over her while she rests?”
“There is no need for it. There will be other guards making their rounds here, that way she doesn’t have to have you hovering over her shoulder while she tries to rest.”
The emperor turned back towards you, making you stand a bit straighter. You don’t know why, but every time that he looks at you, you feel as if his eyes are picking you apart, tearing you open. It was such an unsettling feeling. It made your palms sweat and your legs shake. You didn’t like his attention.
“And Y/n.”
“Yes, Your highness?”
He gave you a knowing look which made you correct yourself immediately.
“Jing Yuan.”
You noticed how he smiled at your correction, “rest well.”
And just as he turned to leave with Blade following after, you called for him.
“Wait, Jing Yuan!”
He turned his head to look at you, “hmm?”
“Where exactly will we be going?”
Your voice sounded too shy for your liking, but you didn’t know how else to ask.
He gave you a little smirk, “you’ll just have to wait and see.”
He didn’t let you say anything else as he left with Blade, the door quickly shutting behind him while leaving you to your thoughts.
He’s going to kill me in secret, isn’t he?
As you wobbled back to the bed and immediately dove into the comfort and safety of the covers, you couldn’t help but to listen to Jing Yuan and try to get some rest. Though, your worries followed you, even in your sleep.
Meanwhile with Blade and Jing Yuan, Jing Yuan could only grin at the guard next to him.
“You’re so tense, Blade.”
Blade looked gave the emperor a side glance before saying anything, “what makes you say that?”
Jing Yuan stopped walking and so did Blade. The two facing each other.
“You had your hand on the hilt of your sword the entire time I was with her in there.”
Perceptive as always, Blade thought. His face setting into a neutral expression so he doesn’t show just how annoyed he is.
“She has amnesia, but I didn’t know how much she actually remembered. So, I had my sword ready just in case she tried anything.”
Jing Yuan chuckled softly, “so you were protecting me?”
Blade nodded and Jing Yuan smiled a little at that, “and here I thought you were actually protecting her.”
Blade tensed up a little at that. He couldn’t stop himself from doing so. Jing Yuan’s words surprised him. And the tensing of Blade’s shoulders was all the clarification that Jing Yuan needed.
“Honestly Blade, you are quite amusing,” he turned to leave, but he stopped walking for a moment to look back at Blade, “before I and y/n go out, be sure to tell her that her little amnesia act is quite good. If I didn’t know she was acting, then I would have definitely be fooled.”
Blade paused right then and there.
“You-“
Jing Yuan turned back around, his eyes glinting with mischief and mirth, “it will take a lot more than that to fool me, Blade. Now, I may not know exactly what you, Dan Heng, and y/n are planning yet, but…I’ll play along for now.”
Jing Yuan finally took his leave and all Blade could do was clench his fist.
“So he knew from the start.”
Blade knew that besting the emperor would be a near impossible task, but it seems everything just got harder.
“I might as well tell Dan Heng about this-“
“Tell me what exactly?”
Blade looked to his left to see Dan Heng walk up the stairs then, Blade’s arms came up to cross over his chest.
“Jing Yuan knows.”
“Knows what?”
“Everything. About you, me, and the fact that y/n doesn’t actually have amnesia.”
Dan Heng paused at the news just as Blade had, “and he didn’t confront her about it?”
“Not yet.”
“Does she know?”
“No. Jing Yuan said that he was going to play along for a while.”
“Does he know why we are doing this?”
“He said he doesn’t, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he figures it out by tonight.”
“Why tonight?”
“Him and y/n are going out.”
Dan Heng thought for a moment and Blade continued talking, “should we tell her?”
“…No, we shouldn’t. If we tell her that Jing Yuan knows about us, then everything will fall apart. Besides, it’ll be safer for her if she remains in the dark and continues to act like she has amnesia.”
Blade nodded, agreeing with Dan Heng’s logic.
“What do we do now?”
“For now, we wait and see. And we should also try to find the person who is Jing Yuan’s eyes and ears. Because someone must be telling him what we’re doing.”
“One of the maids maybe?”
“Unlikely…wait.”
“What is it?”
Dan Heng looked to Blade, “I think I know who it is.”
“Who?”
“It’s-“
“Moze.”
Jing Yuan greeted the assassin when he entered his office.
“Emperor Jing Yuan.”
“Has Feixiao come to fetch you yet?”
“No, if she had, then I wouldn’t be here.”
Jing Yuan chuckled at that, “yeah, I guess you wouldn’t,” Jing Yuan went to his desk and took a seat, Moze moved to stand in front of him.
“So, our deal still stands, yes?”
Moze nodded, “until Feixiao comes back, I’ll take orders from you.”
“Good.”
Jing Yuan paused for a moment before continuing, “later, I and y/n will be leaving for town. Follow us, alright?”
“I will.”
Jing Yuan dismissed him then, and when the assassin left his office, Jing Yuan sighed and leaned back in his chair. His eyes glancing towards the big window that took up most of the wall to his right.
“Y/n…just what are you trying to do?”
