so I just read a post from @everythingiloveblog and—first of all go check it out it has incredible insights and constructive criticism— I feel OP has made an incredible point which brings me to something that bothers me from episode 10:

Okay. I understand Jack and Joke have a…very unusual relationship. I know they’ve been through hell and back, together and apart, and their bond is stronger than ever.

And, ever since the beginning, they show us a dynamic that doesn’t promise to be all “lovey-dovey” or cute or anything like that.

That’s fine. We’re all here for it. Every relationship is different, and actors Yin and War have made it clear Jack and Joke’s dynamic was going to be different.

But, and this is a big, big but, there are things I do not agree with, and I’ll start by casting light on this moment right here where they say “I love you” for the first time.

Emphasis on the first time.

That was not a first time “I love you”. That’s not how you say I love you for the first time to your lover with whom you’ve been through hell and back.

I mean yes, they’ve shown it plenty, but still. This moment was, and I’m very sorry if I ruffle some feathers, to me, very bro-coded (there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not very engaging for me)

And as much as I love their dynamic, as much as I love their characters, it felt incredibly underwhelming and lacking of a tenderness I was desperately craving after such a long slow burn. I know I may be coming from a more “romantic” point of view, but what’s wrong with a little romance?

I really would have loved them to be a bit sweeter, or more tender about it.

Another thing is the closing scene at the hospital; sure, Joke later tells Jack he was the one who betrayed, but Jack didn’t know that right away, and the first thing he saw was the man he loves in shambles, bawling his eyes out, visibly in need to be held, and he didn’t take him into his arms nor made any move to get at least physically closer to him.

That put me off, if I’m being honest. Aren’t they supposed to be in love and care for one another? Jack did say “I’ll only focus on you” and, yeah, he’s angry and confused about Save and worried about his daughter but it would have been very human of him to at least seek and give comfort to the person he loves.

They do have their moments, their chemistry is top tier, and that’s undeniable. But there are certain little actions that would be very realistic for them to partake in, and it leaves me a tad unsatisfied when they don’t.

Of course, I’m still eating this up, I’ll take anything. Yin and War did an incredible job with this show, and this is just a bit of criticism, done in my most humble, respectful opinion.

This man BLEEDS passion, but honestly my favorite scenes are when he’s being sneaky with Shu Yi like when they’re cooking together and he sneaks carrots into the fried rice. Or his reaction when Shu Yi just dips dirty dishes in water to “wash” them. We needed more domestic moments of these two!!!

If you ever needed a sign that although my writing brain decided to put itself on a looong hiatus, the story and characters are constantly living in it rent free it’s probably that every time I download a new app to play with the BL gang are the first thing I try to create.

I thought maybe I’d start sharing some of the random creations on here. Just in case they’re pretty to look at (and so they exist somewhere outside of my phone).

I know some shows like Pornographer have vers dynamics but is that it?

Why are they so rare? You would think that vers dynamics would be more popular since it would appease all the top/bottom fandom fighters.

I was tagged by @fadeawayaway 😊 Sorry it took me like a week to get around to doing this, always late to the party lol.

I really had to fight myself to not put five characters from Not Me on this list, so instead I decided to not put any characters from Not Me on it. And before you ask, yes, it pained me immensely to do so. Also I decided to stick to just Thai QLs because there is no way in hell I could pick just five characters if I went through all of SEA’s queer media.

Who to tag… I’m almost sure everyone plus the kitchen sink has done this, yes the sink has very strong opinions on QL characters. But nonetheless I’ll tag five people, and by all means feel free to ignore this completely if you’ve already done it or just don’t want to do it, no hard feelings ever!

Thank you for this ask anon. The character’s Love Languages are all in their individual profiles in the game but I don’t think I’ve ever put them into one post…so here they are! ❤️

Alex: Quality Time. Alex loves nothing more than quiet time with people he cares for. If that quiet time also involves lying under the stars then that’s even better. He’ll give his partner his undivided attention and will always think of new adventures to take them on so they can experience the world together.

Aayush: Giving Gifts - Aayush lives a minimalist lifestyle now after becoming exhausted with the sheer volume of possessions he has in his life, but that doesn’t mean he gets any less joy from giving gifts to people he cares about, and he holds his memories of giving people things that make them happy with the highest regard. Money means nothing to him and so he holds as much weight to a small gift with a personal meaning as he does gifting someone a car. The greatest gift of all is receiving his trust.

Rota: Acts of service - love is new to Rota and she’ll express it through acts of service. Some little. Some big. Some might even be life-saving.

Eli: Words of affirmation - Eli is confident in the use of language, and will tell anyone who listens how amazing you are, and loves to hear it back. He’s not shy about pointing out moments of attraction and can use his words to make your heart stop for a second. Tell him why you care about him and he’ll be yours.

She’ll do anything to help the people she cares about. No matter how big or small. At the moment that manifests itself in her dedication to the pack, but crack through her heart and her devotion will shine through.

Lily: Physical touch - Lily sees true intimacy as being physical closeness and has sometimes struggled if she’s with a partner who has a different love language. 

Zein: Acts of service - Zein’s adult life has been spent doing things for others, and they bring that forward into their relationships. They’ll quietly do things for the person they love, but in contrast to the wishes they resentfully grant, when Zein is doing something for someone they actually care about, it gives them a little flutter of happiness in their heart. It makes Zein feel complete in a way they hadn’t known was possible.
