Category:Unprintworthy redirects
About this page

The pages in this category are redirects from names that are unsuitable for inclusion in a printed version of Wikipedia. To add a redirect to this category, place {{Rcat shell|{{R unprintworthy}}}} on the second new line (skip a line) after #REDIRECT [[Target page name]]. For more information follow the links. Never substitute redirect template(s), nor place them on soft redirects.
See also the complete list of redirect templates and the redirect style guide.
This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.
This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. They are not part of the encyclopedia's categorization scheme.
This category is hidden on its member pages—unless the corresponding user preference (appearance → show hidden categories) is set.
These categories can be used to track, build and organize lists of pages needing "attention en masse" (for example, pages using deprecated syntax), or that may need to be edited at someone's earliest convenience.
These categories also serve to aggregate members of several lists or sub-categories into a larger, more efficient list (discriminated by classifications).
"Unprintworthy" redirects are redirect pages on Wikipedia that aid online navigation, but would have little or no value as pointers to target articles in a hard-copy book. The name of a redirect may be unprintworthy for a number of reasons, including being nearly identical to the name of the target page, containing typographical errors, or not being encyclopaedic. Redirects are not unprintworthy just because the name may be offensive to some, unless the name is also not encyclopaedic.

All the elements of the periodic table in the Kichwa language
Tumblr media
Jose E. Andino-Enríquez, Manuel A. Andino-Enríquez, Francis E. Hidalgo-Báez, Sisa P. Chalán-Gualán, Santiago D. Gualapuro-Gualapuro, Simone Belli and Michelle B. Chicaiza-Lema recently published in the Journal of Chemical Education a proposal to adapt the names of the 118 elements of the periodic table to Kichwa (Adaptation of the Periodic Table to Kichwa: An Ecuadorian Native Language; J. Chem. Ed., 2022 99 (1), 211-218, DOI: 10.1021/acs.jchemed.1c00383).
The authors explain that the Kichwa lacks scientific tools to respond to educational needs, triggering the gradual loss of intercultural diversity. To adapt the periodic table to Kichwa, they took into account the different linguistic variations of the language and the opinion of the speakers. This is the adaptation compared to the Spanish version, the language most widely spoken in Ecuador:
Lo autores explican que que el kichwa carece de herramientas científicas para responder a las necesidades educativas, desencadenando la pérdida gradual de la diversidad intercultural. independent, selective, ANTI J.EFF D.AVIS interpretation of vernon boyd from the T/EEN W/OLF series, canon divergent. must be 18+ to follow. low to medium, insp based activity. iconless unless strictly necessary. basic rules (no hate, no godmod, no forced shipping, etc) apply. will contain an exploration of missing characters, dead sisters, almost dying more than once and the canon typical themes of violence.
CANON DIVERGENCE: boyd didn’t die at derek’s ethan & aiden’s hands. he instead lashed out and killed one of the twins, thus becoming an alpha of his own.
VERSES:
main. he’s an alpha in his own right following his attempted murder. he keeps this title throughout the rest of teen wolf canon and post tw. he is generally open to working with scott’s pack, but keeps himself just outside of reach of being able to be called pack, if only because there are situations he chooses to handle differently than scott would. he is nevertheless an ally.
pt 1. post teen wolf: boyd wasn’t interested in building a pack in beacon hills, but he eventually does leave, and at that point he begins to build one. aged anywhere between 23-35. easiest for crossovers.
pt 2. post teen wolf. boyd sticks around beacon hills for a while to get all his affairs in order and decide what he wants to do with his life. aged anywhere between 18-21.
secondary. he’s an alpha up until cora needs to heal, in which case he gives it up instead of derek. he then focuses on finishing high school and decides after the fact to join scott’s pack.
pt 1. he stays in beacon hills for longer than he does in the main verse, although he’s much less involved in werewolf business. aged from 18 to 23.
pt 2. after a great deal of guilt, he decides to leave bh behind and move on elsewhere. most likely easiest for crossovers. aged from 23 to 35.
tertiary. boyd dies and is resurrected later with the serum theo used to make the chimeras. by request.

Masterlist of Masterlists || Marvel Masterlist || Series Masterlist || Part 1
-----------------------------------------
**2 Months After Breakup**
Waltzing into the living room of the Avengers tower, you're met with a chorus of greetings from your adopted family. Despite you and Bucky being over you still spend time with everyone else- just when he isn’t around.
You haven’t seen him since you broke up and you’d like to keep it that way. Seeing him would just be more than you could handle; you already lost him so why remind yourself of it more often than you already do? But at the same time his absence from movie night is just as painful of a reminder- like a puzzle with a lost piece.
Snapping back to reality you give a halfhearted smile, joining Steve and Sam on the couch as Natasha hits play on ‘John Wick’.
----------------------------------------
2 hours later you’re standing in the kitchen making snacks with Sam before the next movie starts. “That’s ridiculous, Sammy!” You giggle, watching the microwave timer count down until the popcorn is ready. “Bacon does not belong in ice cream.”
You hear him chuckle behind you as he empties M&M’s into bowls. “Bacon belongs in everything, sweetheart. You're gonna try it sometime or else...”
“Or else what, Sa-” You cut off as you turn around, frozen on the spot as you peer over
Sam’s shoulder.
“Hey, y/n,” Bucky whispers. Your gaze travels up and down the man you used to know, but he’s different. His eyes have bags beneath them from lack of sleep, his hair longer and more unruly than it was the last time you saw him. The stubborn jawline you remembered was replaced by a nervous clenched jaw. His eyes once so bright were now timid and dull; no longer holding the same sparkle that used to make you smile.
In an instant your expression went from a carefree woman with her friends to the girl who’s heart was shattered by the stranger before you whose face you used to know so well.
“Can we talk?” Bucky asks gently, his expression hopeful yet dreading.
“What are you doing here, James?” you whisper, wrapping your arms around yourself as Sam looks between you both carefully.
“I live here,” Bucky nearly scoffs.
“Barnes,” Sam warns, his shoulders tense as he glances at you worriedly.
“I don’t want to talk to you, James. I have nothing to say.”
“All you have to do is listen. Please, doll.”
Despite your best efforts to appear unbothered, the nickname shatters your false bravado. “Don’t call me that,” your voice breaks as tears cloud your vision.
“Excuse me,” you whisper, rushing past both men, ignoring Bucky’s call of your name and attempt to stop you.
“Let her go, man. You’ve done enough,” you hear Sam say as you flee down the hallway, slamming the bathroom door behind you.
Locking the door you turn on the faucet as the tears begin to fall and the suppressed memories rush back:
**2 Months Before Breakup* Flashbacks*
“It’s midnight! Where the hell were you?” You yelled, tears pricking your eyes.
Bucky sighed in defeat, his expression resigned and cold. “Can we do this in the morning?” His tone more of an order than a request as he turns his back on you and begins to walk down the hallway of your apartment.
“No, we can’t do it in the morning. You owe me an explanation. You were supposed to be here when my parents got here. You promised.” You sniffled as Bucky’s shoulders stiffened. “I’m sorry. I don’t have a good enough reason,” he mumbles before walking away.
I haven't stopped thinking about you
Has it really been this long?
Two years and an ocean between us
And I don't know where it all went wrong
I know I coulda kissed you harder
And yeah, you coulda followed through
Shoulda talked a little bit softer
But we meant every "I love you"
**1 Month Before Breakup**
Glancing around the restaurant you see no sign of Bucky. Checking your phone for the 8th time in the past 10 minutes, you sigh. Where is he? You’ve been here for an hour; waiting in your new dress for the man who hadn’t bothered to show. You’re getting tired of the pitiful looks the waitress and the other customers are shooting you. Polishing off your second glass of wine you open your phone: no new messages.
You’ve already sent Bucky 5 texts and called him 4 times; you're done.
Paying for the wine quickly you all but flee the restaurant, trying to hold back your tears. If you weren’t so upset you would probably laugh; laugh at yourself for being so naive to think he would keep his word. But you can’t bring yourself to laugh, not while your heart slowly shatters at the hands of the man who swore never to hurt you.
I don't know what this is or what it isn't
But it feels like we've got unfinished business
**2 Months Ago; AKA Week of Breakup**
“Hey this is y/n, I can’t come to the phone right now cuz I’m out livin my life! Leave it at the beep.” He hears your all too familiar voicemail through the speaker. He had helped you come up with it, you hadn’t known what to put on it. He kicks himself, knowing you weren’t actually out living your life, just dodging his calls. Not that he blamed you- He deserved it and he knew it. Calling again, he’s not surprised when he hears your voicemail again.
“Hey… Um, listen, I know I was supposed to be at your place after the mission… I just wanted to unwind with the guys and- Shit. I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t think you would mind that much, I’ll be over in a bit to make it up to you, okay?” He leaves the message and ends the call before starting his car and driving towards your apartment, guilt heavy in his stomach.
You listen to his voicemail over and over, a strange mix of rage and sorrow weighing on your heart.
Tears roll slowly down your cheeks silently as you lay curled up in a defensive ball on your bed, trying to block out the unmistakable sound of Bucky begging you to open the front door; “Babe, please open the door,” He says, fist resting gently against the frame. “I’m sorry- really, really sorry. Please let me in and we can talk about it,” He sighs, resting his head against the door in defeat. He could break the lock and go in. You both know that. But he wouldn’t do that to you- All that would do is make you fear him and that’s the last thing he wants. He slides his back down the wall til he’s sitting on the floor next to your door, his elbows on his knees and his hands in his hair; Tears gathering in his lashes. He really messed up this time.
The next day you drag yourself out of bed, trying to forget last night and all the tears you shed. After a shower and breakfast, you head out the door for a coffee run before work. You stop in your tracks when you see Bucky still sitting there, eyes red from lack of sleep and regret written all over his face. He jumps up when you walk out, keys in hand, the door closing behind you. “What are you doing here?”
“I- I came to apologize,” he murmurs, looking in your eyes.
“I don’t want to hear it,” you bite, moving to step around him but stopping when he steps to block your path.
“Bucky, I’m going to be late for work,” you say coldly, glaring at him. “Move out of the way.”
“Please doll, just let me explain-”
Huffing, you roll your eyes. “I understand perfectly, James.” You watch as he flinches a little at the use of his first name. You only use it when you're really mad or really happy, and it isn’t the latter right now. “You were too busy with your beer buddies to come see your girlfriend after being gone for three weeks, but what’s new? It’s been like this for months. I guess it was naive of me to expect something else this time.”
'Cause we left blood the on the tracks
Sweat on the saddle
Fire in the hills
A bullet in the barrel
Words never said in a story that didn't end
Looks like you're on the mend and I'm on the bottle
We folded our hands with money on the table
**Present Day**
All the broken promises, nights alone and tears came rushing back as sobs racked your body. Sliding down the door you rest your head between your knees, eyes screwing shut tightly in a useless attempt to stop the bittersweet memories and tears.
Little do you know that outside the door sat a man with tears clouding his vision as he listened to your muffled sobs on the other side of the door. In that moment he wanted nothing more than to turn back time and undo all of the agony he caused you and hold you like he's been wishing he could for the past 2 months. You were just on the other side of the door, separated from him by a few inches of wood and yet you had never been farther away. What did he do?
Tried moving on, but I keep coming back again
To what could've been
What could've been
Oh, what could've been
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
-------------------------------------------
Stumbling into your apartment you all but throw your keys and purse down before shuffling into the bathroom and turning on the hot water for a shower before turning back to the mirror.
The person you see looking back at you in the mirror isn’t who you remember- or at least not who you thought you were. The person you remember was carefree and happy; living in a dream with the love of their life. You don’t recognize the girl in the mirror with swollen, bloodshot eyes and shoulders that hold the weight of the world. What happened to the girl you used to know?
A single tear rolled down your cheek, leaving a mournful trail in its wake. Bucky. Bucky happened to that girl.
There had always been doubt hidden in the back of your mind; doubt that your beautifully woven reality would become nothing more than a tangled web of what once was and could’ve been, but you never thought it would end like this. You had imagined it being another girl that came between you, or perhaps his self loathing or the inadequacy you felt. Never did you think it would be the unexplainable, cold, unfeeling resentment that had taken over the gentle, sweet man you thought you knew.  Where did it go wrong?
A couple more simple, "I'm sorry's"
A little less tryna be right
I wonder how many good mornings we wasted
'Cause we didn't say goodnight
One touch before we fell asleep
Just before our love was out of reach
Coulda been enough, coulda saved us from this loneliness
------------------------------------------
“Steve?” Bucky calls out as he strides into the training room, the door banging shut behind him. Whirling around Steve clutches a hand to his chest. “Jesus, Buck! You scared the hell out of me!”
“I need your help,” Bucky demands, jaw set in a firm line and his eyes glittering with determination.
Steve runs a hand over his face, letting out a sigh. “Is this about Y/N and the other night? Because if it is I am not apologizing to the poor girl for you, so you can just-”
“I want her back.”
“You what?!” Steve exclaimed, his jaw dropping.
“I want her back- I need her back. And I need you to help me.”
“Damn it, Bucky. It’s been 2 months and you saw how she still feels about what you did. How are we gonna fix that?”
“I don’t know yet, Steve… But I have to try. Please.”
-----------------------------
Strolling into Tony’s party happily, you smile up at your date, your arm linked with his.
You greet Tony with a warm smile and a kiss on the cheek before turning towards the sound of Natasha calling your name. Sashaying towards her you give her a hug before turning to give Thor and Steve one as well.
“So, who’s this?” Nat asks, gesturing towards your date who’s eyeing her unabashedly, his gaze dropping to her neckline.
“Oh, sorry! This is Jordan!”
You roll your eyes as Thor begins lightly interrogating him, but he doesn’t pay much attention, his gaze fixed on Natasha’s retreating form.
“Can we talk?” Steve asks, his hand resting gently on your forearm. Following him into a nearby corridor you give him a puzzled look. “Is something wrong, Steve?”
“Um, not exactly…” he murmurs, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Well, what is it then?”
“It’s about Bucky.” Seeing your irritated expression he holds up his hands innocently. “Wait a minute. Just hear me out, okay?”
“Fine.”
“Look, he’s been spiraling since you guys broke up; not eating, always working and out on missions constantly, and his nightmares are getting worse again.”
“Why should I care?”
“Don’t do that. Don’t pretend like you don’t still love hi- Actually, fine, Y/N. If you want to pretend that you don’t care then that’s your problem. Just know that seeing you the other night? Changed something. He’s trying again, and I don’t want to see him lose that. So even if you want to tell yourself that it doesn’t matter to you, at least think about it for me.” Steve turned away, pausing for a moment. “Oh, and by the way? Seeing you here tonight with someone else isn’t gonna be good for anyone… But why should you care, right?”
Taken aback by Steve’s lack of usual patience, you can only watch as he walks off, disappearing into the crowd and leaving you with mixed emotions and a hard decision ahead of you; what were you gonna do?
No matter how hard you tried to block out thoughts of Bucky they always managed to slip back in between the cracks in your shattered heart. Steve was right; you did care. But what were you supposed to do about it tonight? Especially about Jordan. Were you supposed to walk up to him and say ‘oh, by the way you have to leave because my ex is here and he may or may not rip your arms off? No, that wouldn’t work.
Racking your brain for a solution, you snag a glass of champagne from one of the passing trays, downing it in the hopes of drowning your mixed emotions - it didn’t work. Taking a deep breath, you start weaving between the sea of bodies towards where you left Jordan.
Spotting Thor and Tony you make your way towards them, smirking when you hear Tony arguing with Thor over… something.
“Where’s Jordan?” you ask, joining their small circle and trying to shake off your conversation with Steve.
“He was here a minute ago… I’m not sure though, kiddo,” Tony says, giving you a puzzled glance. “Speak of the devil, here he is!” Tony exclaims as you look over your shoulder to see a slightly ruffled Jordan walking towards you, his eyes holding an unnatural hazy look.
“Where were you?” You ask lightly, gaze raking his bedraggled form; his shirt slightly untucked, hair mused and lips pink.
“Oh um, nowhere. Just the bathroom.”
Accepting another glass of champagne, you push down the fury in your chest. You’d just taken a sip when an all too familiar figure came to stand beside you; a scotch glass in his hand and clad in an unfairly attractive black suit. “Hey Y/N, who’s this?”
Nearly choking on your drink, your eyes widen. “Bucky! What are you doing here? You hate these parties!” You say before you can stop yourself. Stupid. The offhanded statement would seem innocent to most, but to you- to you it was a reminder that you still knew him better than anyone else did, a reminder that you remembered all the nights alone together instead of at the noisy parties, a reminder that you still cared enough to remember.
You could see that he was thinking the same thing. “This is Jordan. My…” you faded off, not quite sure what to call him.”
“Date,” Jordan finishes for you, wrapping his left arm around your waist lazily, his hand traveling slightly further than appropriate for the first date. “But we’re keeping things loose, isn’t that right?” Jordan asks, glancing at you but not waiting for an answer. “And who the hell are you?”
Your eyes widen in shock, glancing back and forth between the two men; taking in Jordan’s cocky smirk and Bucky’s knowing look.
Bucky extended his hand, a malicious smirk on his lips and dark glint in his eyes as he took in the unprofessional state of Jordan- including the lipstick stain on his white button down- and the uncomfortable shift of your weight, leaning away from your sorry excuse of a date.
Jordan accepted the outstretched hand, wincing visibly and paling at Bucky’s iron grip.  “Bucky Barnes,” Bucky offered, enjoying as the other man wriggled uncomfortably in his grip, his arrogance forgotten. His gaze lighted on Bucky’s metal arm, his eyes lighting with recognition and terror.
“Holy- you're the Winter Soldier! God man, I’ve heard so much about you-”
“An honor, I’m sure,” Bucky drawls, looking bored, his voice dropping an octave in warning. “Now get lost.”
You sputter defiantly as Jordan scurries off, his tail between his legs.
“What was that for?!” you fume,a fire burning in your eyes as you turn on Bucky.
“Oh c’mon. The guys’ been eyeing every other woman in here! He’s a douche! What was I supposed to do? Just let him feel you up after sneaking off with who knows what girl?”
“Who ‘feels me up’ is none of your concern anymore!”
“Come off it, Y/N! You didn’t even want him touching you! I was protecting you, so your welcome,” he huffed.
“I don’t need protecting, and I sure as hell don’t need you to protect me. So you can go fuck yourself, James. You can’t treat me like shit for months and then get mad when someone else does the same thing!” you snarl, spinning on your heel and storming off as Bucky watches you.
Bucky stalks across the floor, the crowd parting before him; not willing to get in the way of the 6 foot man on a mission. Locating his target- dancing with another girl no less- he grabs him roughly by the collar before pushing him against a pillar.
“What the hell, dude?” Jordan fumes, eyes locking on Bucky’s before he goes slack, his eyes widening in horror when he recognizes the former assassin.
“Every single thing you’ve ever heard about me is true, so shut up and listen closely,” Bucky growls, his arm braced against Jordans chest forcefully, a murderous glint in his eyes. “I expect you to do exactly what I say, and if you don’t, I’ll know. First, you are going to get your sorry ass out of here, and then you are going to send Y/N an apology text, telling her what an asshole you are, and that you don’t deserve to even look at her. Then, you are not going to get within 1,000 feet of her, and you are not going to text, call, or even think about her ever again, or I swear to God I will hunt you down, cut your balls off and shove them down your goddamn throat, got it? Nod if you understand. Good. Now. Get. Out.”
Releasing Jordan, Bucky watches as he falls to the floor before scrambling towards the door with the fear of God instilled in him.
“What the hell did you just do, Bucky?”

answered April 12, 2020 (and part 2)
Q: hello there! i always love how thoughtful you are with your replies and the way of expressing yourself you have and this is why i also love this one reply, you really are so kind and respectful. however, as someone who knows quite a lot about what anon is talking about, i just wanted to give another perspective and maybe even give you a context you weren’t aware about! :) while i would probably 100% agree with your reply for any other situation, what happened (and is still happening) to jungkook was pretty different than the usual hate the boys receive online. you know, we call hate a lot of things, from mean comments to any other thing, but what jungkook went through was (and is) an organized smear campaign, the same thing kang daniel went through, that, by his words, lead him to create his own company and plan to sue the same exact forum anon is talking about, and also worsened his mental health to the point he developed panic disorder (these are his own words, i am not making assumptions as i would never with mental health, he himself said he went through hell because of the situation). when what was happening to jk briefly went across twitter some months ago, it was his own fans that said the patterns jungkook was going through were the same to what happened to daniel. those being, accounts with massive followings that seem to go viral all of a sudden, with what seem to be other bot accounts with all generated usernames and behavior, that seem to have connections to the media. i am aware the fandom isn’t really aware this is/was happening, but it is happening and it was a lot worse when the dating rumors and the accident happened. we’re talking about death threats, false accusations etc. going viral in the sk side of twitter and making it onto naver. there were 100+ articles created in one day about jungkook with false information, which is the same kind of stuff that happened with kang daniel. it is also the reason bh is starting to take legal action quickier, as they stated before. (pt. 2 of previous anon, i am so sorry my answer was too long!!!) what i am trying to say is, i do not blame anon for thinking that jk cutting his hair was a cause of what was happening, because sadly they did even shout at him at the airport, most precisely to cut his hair. believe it or not, the same accounts going viral with false accusations etc. did talk about his appearance, his hair included, and called him a “pig ready to be butchered”. i am not gonna say more than that, because everything they sent his way is disgusting, but it was really really bad, and it really is improbable he wasn’t aware it was happening (even though i hope for the contrary) since as i said the hate was all over naver and his searches everywhere were disgusting. this kind of stuff can happen to idols in a way that we aren’t used to here, it happened to yeri and jihyo etc. and most gravely kang daniel as said before, and it’s a different phenomenon than the hate we know of and idols have said publicly that it affects them and have previously taken measures because it isn’t just “hate”, it is slander and defamation of character. i don’t know if you saw bv but jungkook even apologized in the last episode, his words were “i didn’t know if i should have been happy”. so yeah, i just wanted to give you this context because i know the fandom at large doesn’t know the extent to which jungkook received this nonsense, which is understandable bc no one likes to talk about such negative stuff. so yeah, the anon’s perspective is probably coming from this :/ but jungkook is strong and has a great support system, and a big heart, so hopefully he was okay and he will be okay. i just emphatized with anon in their worry because i saw all this happen in real time and it wasn’t a great time, so i wanted to give you this piece of context. i hope you have a great day ♡ (in response to)
A: (there is a part 2 to this question, and my response will be continued there since it’s a MONSTER)
ok so first of all, i want to apologize for my twt response to your question last night! i was very sleepy and feeling sensitive and so my initial reading of your question made me feel as if you were implying i wasn't being sensitive enough to what they go through or smth. my response was a little curt and reactionary and i should've sat with it for longer before responding. the reason i updated and said i would give a longer reply is bc as i was doing the dishes (meditative! would recommend!) i came to a few realizations and thought i owed you a more nuanced response, especially since your question was so respectful. i should always try to return that energy, and i'm sorry for failing in that!
i was aware of most of this prior to your ask, except for the stuff abt people yelling at him in the airport, and that part especially is really terrible and makes me feel so sad for him, my baby puppy sweetheart :(. i do try to keep up with bts news, since like you said, i think that kind of stuff abt them tends not to filter into my particular corner of fandom, but i generally don't talk abt it.
i still 100% stand behind everything i said in my response to the previous question, but your question also made me realize some things, so thank you for that! to begin, you are correct in that his bv4 apology means this is a situation in which, however obliquely, he IS making it clear that he was negatively affected by public perception of him, which is a pretty rare thing for any of bts to do, and i think i should have given that more weight. i don't want to come off as minimizing the significance of his sharing those feelings with us. that, combined with bighit's increased legal action directly afterward, means i think we can be certain in saying this situation is more severe than any they've faced before, and they are responding to it in kind, and i'm glad that bighit is taking it seriously and trying to protect him.
i need to remind myself that my mode of performing fandom is pretty significantly different from that of most pop fans BECAUSE i am so heavily into rpf and shipping. because i never want bts to see my mode of fandom (don't read my fanfiction or my thirst tweets bts, thanks, luv u!), my own fandom philosophy tends to HEAVILY prioritize disengagement with their real lives, for my own safety and theirs, possibly more than would be reasonable for the average fan. i err VERY strongly on the side of "it's not my business." this particular case is unusual, since bighit HAS actually taken legal action based on reports from fans and has actively asked us to continue to send them reports. (i will say the legal action i've seen them take doesn't make much sense to me, since it doesn't seem like they're attempting to target the most serious offenders, but the point is that they HAVE specifically asked for fan participation.)
CONT'D...
the special thing about modern pop fandoms, from 1d onward, is that online fan participation IS so important in driving the success of groups, and often that fan participation DOES mean way more involvement than would be considered normal, things like charity drives, fan-run ad campaigns, organized mass album buys and streaming sessions, etc etc. modern fans basically act as unpaid marketing for artists now, and many artists would not be where they are without it, including bts! it stands to reason that antis can organize in this same massive way, and that artist management might NEED to mobilize the power of their fanbase in order to combat that.
this unprecedented kind of fan involvement makes the waters really murky, because the intense engagement of some fans IS really important, and so i think we need to find a kind of happy medium between this kind of organized over-engagement and my very purposeful disengagement. and honestly, i don't have the answer for that! it's so tricky! (also a lot of the model of fans acting as unpaid labor for artists makes me uncomfortable, since we're not profiting monetarily from that labor and capitalism is bad etc etc, BUT that's a topic for another time and ALSO one i'm not qualified to address 😂)
i think it's really important to think about what it means to be a modern fan and how we can do that right, and what kinds of boundaries we need to set for ourselves and the artists we love! and also that MY particular boundaries may be very different from other people's simply because of the kind of fannishness i practice! this mode of engagement is so new and very cool and i enjoy thinking about it, even if i don't have any solutions, so thank you for helping me to get to a space where i can try to work through some of that intellectually, however inadequately! it's something i am CONSTANTLY trying to work through within myself, like what is the best way for me to be respectful of the artists i love and how can i work not to make their lives harder, and i think if i ever stop being interested in thinking about it it's probably time for me to stop being a fan. much love 💜💜💜

My Honest Opinion on 2018 BTS
Disclaimer: I am not making this post to hate on BTS, BH, or even ARMY. I, myself, am a huge ARMY, I love our boys so so so much and everything I’m about to say is just my own opinion. Please respect it. It’s okay if you disagree and if you want to share your own opinions, that’s fine. Please don’t send me hate, I only want to talk about what I believe is the truth. Also a post-writing comment, I get pretty angry so yeah... don’t read if you get triggered easily. I’m pretty blunt this evening with my feelings regarding BTS and BH.
~^*^~
So, I’m going to begin this pretty bluntly by saying that this past year has been pretty disappointing for me as an ARMY. Despite BTS being able to perform at the BBMAs, win another award there, do all of this amazing stuff internationally, LY: Her and LY: Tear have let me down in terms of BTS albums. At the time of their releases, I hyped up the songs and the albums, but truth be told, my LY: Her album isn’t even on my phone - I haven’t even put the CD into my computer and I didn’t even bother buying LY: Tear though I do plan on getting it simply for Anpanman, Airplane P.2 and Paradise. These two albums have been, in my own opinion, some of BTS’ worse works (including Expensive Girl and Trouble).
This is not BTS’ fault. I do not blame them at all. This is all down to BigHit slowly becoming more power and money hungry as time goes on. I mean, BH has even let Homme flop (I haven’t heard anything about them in a long time so I’m guessing they disbanded bc BH only care about BTS). You see, Wings was the last great album BTS ever produced. It featured a song composed entirely by every member, sung only by every member and gave them all their own little spotlights. We also got TWO songs dedicated to ARMY, the iconic Cypher 4 and Am I Wrong. All of these songs were all phenomenal and this comeback took my breath away. Never mind Boy Meets Evil (I love it so much) and Ofc BS&T, their last amazing title track.
You see, after Wings, this is where BTS’s fame really began to pick up overseas. Sure, they were huge in Korea, but EXO are still considered the nation’s boys (even after Ko Ko Bop and Lotto...) but all of a sudden, all of the world knew BTS. This lead to Bang PD doing something pretty fucking stupid. He drove BTS into mainstream western music. This is where we got the upbeat (yet pretty generic) Not Today don’t get me wrong I love Not Today, it still had some of BTS’ vibes but it was the first deviant of many and one of the best, most emotional, heart wrenching BTS songs Spring Day. When the LY albums were announced, BTS’ fame was skyrocketing. BH wanted to appeal to these new international fans and gave us LY: Her, an album which seems great at first, but once you realise that all of the songs are just... well, I’ll break them all down.
First we have Serendipity, the intro that confused the fuck out of me. Since BTS began, Intros have always A L W A Y S been done by the rap line, and Outros done by the vocal line. I love Serendipity, but I hate the fact that BH strayed from giving us the rap line intros. I always look forwards to them on the albumbs but I guess we won’t be seeing them again so... then we have the title track DNA which in my opinion wasn’t anywhere near BTS style at all. It was catchy, yes, but it was a fucking stupid boppy love song that new ARMYs hyped. It was overplayed and I eventually came to accept that I didn’t like it. The next song we have it Best Of Me - a collab with The Chainsmokers. I like the Chainsmokers since I’ve always been a fan of EDM and I do enjoy their sound, but Bh deciding to collab with them is just... no. Again, this took away BTS’ individuality as an artist and it was just another western bop. I never really liked it so... Then we have what I like to call the Secret Love Song to Kim Namjoon 보조개. If I’m being completely honest, this song was my favourite. But after a few plays, it became repetitive and... yeah... I kinda don’t enjoy listening to it anymore. Again, it’s another western-styled EDM like DNA and Best of Me. Pied Piper is actually a pretty decent song. I enjoy the fact that it’s a bit of a shade-throwing song to ARMY but at the same time BTS telling us they care enough to tell us to get on with life. I can’t complain about it. It’s a little unusual with the flute, but I do like it a lot. We are going to skip the Skit because it features Jake Paul and I hope he rots in hell ((: our next song is MIC Drop which for some reason people think is the final cypher?? Like , are you stupid? It’s not called Cypher, so it’s. Not. A. Cypher. I like both versions, the original and the Steve Aoki/Eng version and it’s the last song that keeps to a BTS vibe. Again, no complains. Then we have Go Go, which I love but hate. It’s a great song, but... so many people complain about it that I kinda just don’t want the hastle of going to YouTube to listen to it. They have bragging rights, let them brag. That’s how I see Go Go. Moving on, Outro: Her... I didn’t like it. Like I said with the intro, it just doesn’t feel natural for a BTS album to have rap line doing the outro. That’s probably just me. I always skip Her because it’s just... there’s something I don’t like about it but I couldn’t tell you what it is. It’s alright as a song but it’s nothing special. We also have the other skit but I skip it because of my lack of knowledge of Korean so yeah. And then there’s Sea. Can we just for one second acknowledge how good of a song Sea is? And BigHit has the fucking audacity to make it a hidden song?! Like, it’s full of metaphors, it’s beautiful and just almost a great song. The only issue I have is how long it is but I can get over that.
So, the songs were kind of repetitive, and Pied Piper was the only song I thoroughly enjoyed that didn’t have any outside influence. A lot of the songs in Her were just trashy westernized bops that I don’t think suit BTS, any of their personalities or the whole HYYH/Wings theory that BH have been making. Like...? You gave us BS&T and then decided MIC Drop was a good addition to the MVs? It made no sense.
Anywho, I did enjoy Her but it’s definitely not up there as one of my fave BTS albums. Honestly, despite being a little disappointed, I looked towards to Tear. Well... until it came out. I know I hyped it up. I know I said I enjoyed the songs but now I don’t listen to the album at all, I skip all of the songs when they come on shuffle because in my opinion, this is a bad BTS album. Bad. Let me talk you through the songs.
First we have Singularity. Again, I hate the idea of vocal line intros but I’m gonna have to put up with it so whatever. Tae’s voice was drowned out by the music a little, and I really REALLY enjoyed the MV. It was slow, sensual and I enjoyed it... until y’all nasty ARMYs got your hands on it and decided to make it House of Cards 2.0. Just a quick FYI, Singularity is a sad song and you should respect Taehyung’s artistic input. House of Cards was made to be sexual-er and that’s why it’s okay to sexualise it. Do not sexualise Singularity. I kinda stay away from it now because of ARMY. Anyway, we get to the bane of these past few months, Fake Love. In a honesty, I don’t love it. The MV felt like a recycled BS&T in some places and it felt too poppy and not so much BTS for me. I loved Hoseok’s parts in it but that was about it... Next up is The Truth Untold and truth BE told, this song surprised me. I expected some angsty EDM track because of the collab with Steve again but instead I was pleasantly surprised with a beautiful ballad. But, this is literally due to my own musical preferences, I’m not really into ballads so I don’t listen to it very often. Next we have 134340 (Pluto) and while I do enjoy listening to it, it was a recycled Whalien52 if it had a child with Pied Piper. I said it. The lyrics are beautiful and I think Hoseok’s part was phenomenal but other than that, it’s just a recycled, old BTS song because clearly BH is running out of ideas and restricting BTS in terms of their input in their albums. Then there’s Paradise, one of my favourite tracks. A little EDM-y, very sensual, a great base, and the message is cute. But, it’s a westernised song. I think it would have suited a group such as VIXX or maybe even EXO a little better, it didn’t give me BTS vibes at all. It’s a great song but it’s nothing I would have expected from BTS. And BH are at it again with Love Maze. The first 5 seconds I like (the piano with the distorted “I’ll be in love maze”) and then after that, it becomes a trashy, EDM, westernized song. Again. Can someone tell Bang PD to stop it? I didn’t like it from the off and I probably won’t ever. Next we have Magic Shop which is just another EDM-y westernized song so you can imagine my feelings towards it. Now we have Airplane Pt.2, a pretty bomb-ass song if I do say so myself. I loved the erotic, Mediterranean vibes, the Tango-y kinda feel, the bragging lyrics, everything... except Hoseok’s fucking verse. I know it’s pt.2 but WHY IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK DID THEY RECYLE A VERSE FROM AIRPLANE. I hate that they did that. I hate it so god damned much that it pains me because it’s such a good song but Hoseok’s verse lets the whole song down. Jin had lines, there was Namjin involved, it was so close to being a great song. And next we have Anpanman. I’m not even gonna bother saying much because I love this song. It was the diamond of the album. It saved the album. End of discussion. And then we get to the song I hate most of all - So What. You guessed it, a trashy, EDM, carbon copy of a westernized pop song. I hate it so much. It has no BTS vibes, clearly the boys didn’t have much of a choice about it and I really don’t like the song. I’ve listened to it once and that was when I first listened to the album as a whole. Then we get to the outro I promise I won’t complain about the whole rap line vocal line thing again I guess the outro is okay. I mean, I love the dark vibes but it’s not the best rap line song out there. The chorus is repetitive “You’re my tear, you’re my You’re my Tear,” And it gets boring after the first verse. Plus Yoongi’s verse was annoying af because of all the autotune that they put on to ruin his natural, beautiful voice so yeah.
You can tell I didn’t like Tear. At all. It was just a whole pile of EDM, westernized shit with one good song put in and Singularity at the beginning to mask the pile of shit that it is. I can’t express how let down I was with the past two albums.
BigHit have done this. They have turned BTS into a giant money making machine. They are turning the boys away from their golden eras (I Need U, Run, War of Hormone) and moulding them into the “perfect” westernized Kpop group. All BH care about is money. That’s why all of the songs have been almost a 180 to BTS’ vibes and the album has been a let down. I understand people’s styles change. Look at EXO, they started with Wolf (a bop btw) and just came out with Sweet Lies, one of the best non-title tracks in Kpop (IMO). But this style that BTS have suddenly adapted has had nothing to do with the boys themselves. This has been done by the executives at BH to cater to the new audience of 12 year old, ignorant, uneducated girls who have no idea what BTS really stand for in the long run. The same boys who used to write 90% of their lyrics definitely do not anymore and it breaks my heart. Instead of beautiful lyrics like in Tomorrow, it’s trashy love songs like DNA and Fake Love. The money focuses on elaborate MVs and don’t you fucking dare get me started on the pricing of new merch. All 4 albums together cost over £100, the summer package in Spain is almost £70. Just one album on its own at pre-order is now almost £35/40. Don’t you dare tell me that BH isn’t getting greedy. I got my D&W album for less than £10. I got my MBMILp1 for £20, Wings for £20 and LY: Her for £25. See the correlation? Fame goes up and so do the fucking album prices. I couldn’t ever afford to spend £30 on an album plus shipping. I couldn’t even ask my parents to do that for a birthday or even Christmas present. It is a waste of money. All albums I have from other artists and companies have never been over £25 either. BH and Bang PD are becoming greedy. They want more money, for more elaborate MVs for more fans, for even more money. I know someone has to fund Tae’s Gucci style but let me tell you, even if albums were priced the same as D&W, BH would make more than enough profit.
BTS clearly have no input anymore in their albums, they are forced to work under a management slowly becoming more and more corrupt. BH is no saint and you can see that through the most recent albums. It’s the same, repeated, overly cliche bullshit EDM tracks. Some songs have been good but I have been so let down that I almost always forget about them.
If LY: Answer is such a disappointment to me, I really will have to reconsider my status as an ARMY. I won’t watch BTS become some carbon copy of a perfect boyband in America for BH’s sake. Never. They came from nothing, they worked their way to the top and now they have just brought out two very disappointing albums. Nothing will ever compare to HYYH or Wings. BH has become too greedy. It isn’t about BTS anymore - it’s about the money they make.
