I can’t find information about this survey specifically, but I did see that North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis released another similar poll that seems to be from the same website (outreach.senate.gov).

Yea when I was looking up that senator to make sure I knew his name, I found he introduced a bill to “ban sanctuary cities” and “deport illegals,” and there’s a leading question about that on the survey, so I’d guess this was sent out by the same guy. So more like campaign research than “the senate wants to hear from you” but doesn’t that still mean we can at least share our views? Like even if I was a republican senator trying to get people to vote for me and agree with my viewpoints, I feel like seeing “oh shit everyone disagrees with me actually” would make me at least pretend to care a bit about some of these issues (namely ceasefire in Palestine) and do what my constituents want. If only to secure my future re-election.

TLDR: Yes, the survey does seem to be run by a specific Republican senator rather than the senate as a whole, but is there harm in taking the survey anyway?

Quick update on get out the vote efforts for Indiana. I ended up writing 50 letters to voters in NW Indiana. Purple envelopes for women’s suffrage (and our state’s true political leaning) and hummingbirds for joy and hope. I wanted RBG stamps but could not get them in time.

My next post will be about what I’m doing this week a little closer to home in Central Indiana. Having Covid still sucks but it gave me time to reflect on some options that panned out within minutes of asking. I’m so excited to be making an impact, however small, to move the needle in Indiana. Don’t count us out yet!
