So I’m finally watching the last season of Holby City in its entirety and while I’m throughly enjoying some of the storylines, it feels very much like they are trying to get too many storylines done. Dom’s mom got sick but then he and Carole disappeared for like 10 episodes while the Jenni/Evie trafficking story happened and then that was dropped. Jac is dying but it doesn’t get mentioned for almost 10 episodes and then she’s suddenly having panic attacks in the stairwell. They’re trying to establish Henrik and Russell (which I am very much here for) but it’s getting buried under everything else. Josh’s eating disorder is a great storyline but again it’s starting to feel like it’s getting lost. Not to mention whatever is going on with Eli and Amelia and we still haven’t got Nicky back yet.
And for some god forsaken reason they’ve brought Oliver Valentine back and expect me to give a shit.

The essential Gaskell storyline episodes list. Episodes you absolutely must watch for the storyline are in bold, episodes that aren't must-watches but have Johnrik scenes are in italics, episodes that don't have John in them but are important for storylines he's involved in are in parentheses. (A lot of this is copied from post/697935241117040640/ on my blog lol.)
(Series 19 episode 58 “It Has To Be Now”) - This one doesn’t actually have Gaskell in it, but it sets up the history between Henrik, Roxanna, David Hopkins, and John. Basically, it's the prologue to the Gaskell storyline.
Series 19 episode 61 “Group Animal - Part One” and episode 62 “Group Animal - Part Two” - This two-parter is where John actually arrives. I’d say it’s THE best two episodes of Holby ever.
Series 19 episode 63 “We Need To Talk About Fredrik” - This one isn’t too important, but I’d recommend it anyway because it does a lot to start showing what sort of character John is.
Series 19 episode 64 “Always Forever” - Again, not too important, but it starts developing his character.
(Series 20 episode 1 "The Prisoner") - John isn't in this, but it's very important for the Oliver storyline, which John is quite heavily involved in.
Series 20 episode 2 “Ready or Not” and series 20 episode 3 “There By The Grace Of…” - This is where John’s medical trials start.
Series 20 episode 4 “Hanssen Is As Hanssen Does” - More important trial stuff.
Series 20 episode 5 “One Day At A Time” - John operates on his first trial patient.
Series 20 episode 6 “Not Your Home Now” - Some generally important plot stuff here, particularly related to Henrik’s storyline which of course ties into John’s. You could skip it if you really wanted though.
Series 20 episode 7 “Precipice” - Important interactions between John and Roxanna.
Series 20 episode 9 “Ache” - Skippable, but there’s some stuff with John and Roxanna that’s worth watching.
Series 20 episode 10 “Square One” - Really important, unskippable stuff about John’s trial.
Series 20 episode 13 “No Matter Where You Go, There You Are - Part Two” - More trial stuff, plus some Johnrik interaction. The two episodes before this aren’t that important to John’s storyline, though they are important to other stories.
Series 20 episode 14 “Tete a Tate”, series 20 episode 15 “Tate Gallery”, and series 20 episode 16 “New Ain’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be” - All important episodes for the trial.
Series 20 episode 19 “Bubble Wrap” - This is a HUGE episode for John’s storyline, especially the trial.
Series 20 episode 20 “Blind Spot” - Some minor stuff wrt John’s trial, and some good Johnrik scenes, but very skippable. It’s more important for Henrik’s storyline than John’s.
Series 20 episode 23 “None But The Brave” - John agrees to do surgery on Jac.
Series 20 episode 24 and 25 “Primum Non Nocere - Part One” and “Primum Non Nocere - Part Two” - Jac has her operation.
Series 20 episode 26 “Fallen Idol” - Roxanna comes to see John in Portugal and finds out about the patient he’s treating there.
Series 20 episode 28 “Into The Light” - More important stuff about John’s trial. There’s also a guest appearance by Ethan from Casualty!
Series 20 episode 30 “Two for Joy” - Important stuff regarding John and Jac.
Series 20 episode 32 “Bygones”, episode 33 “Bargaining”, and episode 34 “All Business” - REALLY important stuff regarding John and Jac.
Series 20 episode 36 “Keep Your Friends Close” - Roxanna travels to Lisbon to investigate John’s work, and asks Henrik to keep an eye on John while she’s away.
Series 20 episode 37 “All Lies Lead To The Truth” - The big confrontation between John and Roxanna. This has the most awful scene where Roxanna claims she never loved her husband David and wanted to be with Henrik instead, but sadly, it's essential to the storyline.
Series 20 episode 38 “One Man And His God” - A flashback to John, Henrik, and Rox’s university days.
Series 20 episode 39 “Undoing” - Follows on from the previous two episodes. This is THE biggest moment in John’s storyline. Prepare yourself - it's very dark and horror-y.
Series 20 episode 40 “Inscrutable” - Follows on from the end of “Undoing”, but John only appears at the very beginning and very end of the episode, so it can be skipped. I'd strongly recommend watching it anyway, but it feels unfair marking an episode where John appears so little as a must-watch, so I won't.
Series 20 episode 41 “The Three Musketeers” and series 20 episode 42 “Stains” - Really important stuff, building up to John’s last episodes…
Series 20 episode 45 “Report To The Mirror - Part One” and series 20 episode 46 “Report To The Mirror - Part Two” - The reveal of John’s backstory. The truth comes out about the trial. And part two is John’s final episode.
Series 20 episode 47 “One Of Us” - An epilogue to the storyline, clearing up the cliffhangers from “Report To The Mirror”.
thank you so much :)! ill try my best to make my way through this, but it might take me a while as life's been pretty busy and it might be for a bit longer, but ill definitely try and get through at least the important ones, thank you again, :)

There once was a casualty fandom, and roleplay was happeningggg! It appears very dead on Twitter, so I’m trying here…. Any hope? Particularly keen to explore the Connie/Sam saga..🤓💟

Kian helped Haley out of the car and into the block of flats where he lived. She wasn't passed out drunk, but she was groggy and looked like she was going to be sick. It was probably a good idea that she wasn't going home by herself in the shape she was in. They took the lift up to his flat. It was homey but not super-decorated and well kept; a bachelor pad that hid the fact thathe was a widower. He showed her the guest room and the bathroom, and let her go to bed. He heard her mutter a slurred, but sincere sounding "thanks".
His phone went off early for an emergency , and Kian felt bad leaving Haley alone. She'd probably need some clothes, and would be wondering when he'd be back. He left an old t-shirt and a pair of shorts in the bathroom for her to wear and a quick note on the fridge. He even made sure her purse and phone were one the counter so she could find them.
Haley woke up late, thankful that she had the day off. Her head pounded, and she got out of bed and padded into the bathroom. She found Kian's clothes he had laid out for her, and changed out of the clothes she wore last night; they smelled like the pub. Haley dug through the bathroom cabinet, finally finding a bottle of headache pills.

Frieda Petrenko in Holby City, Series 19, Episode 63: We Need to Talk About Fredrik
'I went to St Francis because there are... ghosts here I wanted to avoid.'
One of my favourite Holby episodes, I miss this show, and I wish it got more mainstream recognition.

Hey so I’m back on my bullshit but people often give love the way they would also like to receive it so when Faith ‘had cancer’ and Stevie started helping her out more and then when it came out she was an addict and Stevie moved in to support her we can reasonably assume when Stevie was having her public and protracted breakdown she wanted someone to come in and help take care of her and actually all that happened was she sat in her flat and cried alone. Have fun with that!😀

hello my fellow stevie nash stans,
with an extra special mention for my fellow autistic girl kisser stevie nash truthers,
i was wondering if any of you have made any stevie nash vibes playlists anywhere like spotify? or have any good song ideas for one?
i’m trying to make one, and other than the typical songs that pop up on a few of my other character playlists, i am struggling to capture the essence of stevie..

It’s me, back again for a little chat because I can’t stop thinking about this scene. This one came out a bit longer than expected, forgive me!
I think everyone except Serena (and I guess Robbie) knew that Jason was going to end up living with her when Alan had his stroke. Serena is ride or die for her family and one real look at how unhappy Jason was of course drove Serena to make the offer. I love that she commits herself to it right away; Jason says she doesn’t have the football channel and without missing a beat Serena says she’ll get it - it’s such a casual but pointed way of showing that Serena is in it now. It’s only after Jason brings up Robbie that Serena remembers there is someone else in this situation.
Because here’s the thing: I don’t think Serena really understood what Alan meant when he said Jason needs the people in his life to commit to him seriously until Serena was making the offer and having this conversation with Robbie. Like obviously she understood on some level, but it wasn’t until her nephew was in a very vulnerable position with no one really to help him that Serena realized what that commitment meant. And the moment that she does, she finds herself needing to impress it upon her boyfriend as well because otherwise they won’t work out.
I think when Serena asks Robbie whether he wants them both in his life, she’s genuinely saying it because she now understands what’s needed. And she needs him to understand that too. She is giving him an out, because she knows it’s a lot to ask. BUT! I think that there was a part of Serena that was secretly hoping Robbie would say “I love you, I want to be with you and we can make this work.” Because when he turns her down, she looks devastated. It’s subtle (cheers to Catherine Russell, the Queen of Microexpessions) but it hits you right in the gut. And then of course when she responds to Jason, her voice is so tight, like she doesn’t trust it not to come out sad sounding.
And I don’t think that Robbie is a bad guy. He offers to try and make a go of it even though you can tell he’s upset by the turn of events. He reminds me a bit of Marcus Dunn in the sense that they both take pride in being “the good men.” The difference being that Marcus commits to Bernie for 25 years and Robbie takes the opportunity to leave. I don’t blame Robbie for that, he’s being honest about what he feels he can commit to and what he wants. It’s just terribly unfortunate because I don’t think that Robbie realizes Serena putting out an emotional bid in this moment. She’s not doing it as a test, it’s not a trap. But it doesn’t change the fact that Serena is reaching out, that she wants her partner to meet her bid and be there for her. And he doesn’t.
I could also talk about how Serena doesn’t make the effort to connect physically here with Robbie like she does when she’s about to lose Bernie to Ukraine but that’s a whole other post. Or maybe a fic…
