Batman 155
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we're gonna confirm Jim knows Batman is Bruce in the most angst way possible?!
I'll be honest, I'm not huge on this current storyline, but Jim and Bruce are the best part of it.

Submitted Prompts #155
I've seen a couple DCxDP fics with Halfa Jason, and if his core type is addressed it's usually something in the realm of a shadow core, which absolutely fits red hood. But I submit, for your consideration, the idea that red hood isn't the one who died and came back, Jason is. This is the same Jason who was all smiles and laughter and joy, who was the spark of light that misdirects the eyes away from Batman in the shadows, who felt to his very soul that being Robin made him *Magic*, and who would cling to that idea to his dying moment and then keep clinging.
I submit that walking brooding tank antihero Red Hood, the violent death coming for your sins, has a Magic core. I submit that this is why he's so good with choosey magical artifacts like the all blades. I submit that it relates to his continued love of literature, especially fiction, and that he would also be a huge fan of fantasy settings. I submit that he should take to magic like a fish to water, and while I do include JLD type stuff in that, I especially mean that he should absolutely have a pack of cards and other props in his utility belt which he pulls out for kids all the time either to calm them down in stressful situations or bond a little with street kids so they'll let him help with stuff.
Something Red from OSP said that stuck with me about Batman is that "if you can't imagine your version of Batman comforting a crying child, that's not Batman, you've just written the Punisher in a funny hat." I think that can work for Jason too, and I think there's a lot of potential for so many different kinds of stories in the contrast between soft magic-core Jason and the big-bad Red Hood. Thoughts?

DC Comics Incorrect Quotes Pt 155
Tim: Tell me the secret.
Steph: Mom smokes in the car. Jesus is okay with it, but we can't tell dad.
Tim: Not that secret, the other secret.
Steph, in gruff voice: I'm Batman.
Tim: Dammit, Stephanie!
Tim: Jason, as you know, my fountain pen is being re-nibbed in Germany.
Jason: Yes, it's all no one is talking about.
Tim: Due to it's absence, I borrowed Damian's favorite pen and... I lost it.
Jason: That pen is his best friend. I'm not even saying that as an insult, I've heard him say it.

New Comics Time! (Pt. 2)
Absolute Superman #2 - This was a fun issue. My favorite parts continue to be the flashbacks to Krypton. Superman's living cape is a very cool effect and I think it's neat that it's going with 'giant leap' over flight for him.
Two Face #1 - Now this is really fun. Loving the art. Loving the courtroom drama and the conflict set up with Harvey. Harvey Dent working the room with a two-faced coin. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one goes.
DC Horror Presents... #1 & 2 - Poked my head into these issues. The stories in them are mostly just okay, but I did like the Wonder Woman story in issue 1. It played with a lot of fun notes from the Perez run, though with Donna in her red wonder girl costume and Hippolyta dead, the timeline feels muddled.
JSA #2 - This isn't bad and I am intrigued enough to keep reading it, but also there are SO many characters here and it really needs a title page like in old comics where they stick all the names and heads of characters there so you know who's who.
Batman #155 - Not a fan of the affair plot :/ I will say this is giving me throwbacks to Batman: Eternal with Jim getting arrested/framed and the use of the hatter tech.
Birds of Prey #16 - Nice to see some action from everyone else this issue! Looks like there's some fun set up for a fight next issue too. Some cool stuff with the lettering too.
Action Comics #1078 - I see Superboy gets stuck here being the guy to say 'well if it's everyone on earth dies or everyone in the phantom zone dies I think there's an obvious choice.' We get it. Someone had to say it. I am continuing to really enjoy the backup. Patridge’s art is very pretty.
Poison Ivy #28 - I am continuing to enjoy this and this current plot is making me go "I should really read some Swamp Thing comics." Alas, I feel that way about many things.
The Batman & Scooby Doo Mysteries #12 - Leslie!! Another fun issue in this series. A lot of smoke and mirrors as is appropriate for a haunted old theater type mystery.
