Well...damn.

I finally watched The Phantom of the Opera, and now I have to grapple with how much Operetta makes absolutely no sense.

Like I'm wracking my brain, and the only conclusion I've come to is that she'd make sense if she wasn't a ghost at all, but a siren.

Maybe after years of being cast out by his fellow humans, Erik finds refuge in the monster world which welcomes him with open arms, and also gives him the chance for a new start.

And given his love of opera, he falls in love with a siren and they have a child together. Thusly making Operetta half human, half siren.

This way, she can keep her hypnotizing voice, since she sure as hell wouldn't have gotten it from Erik.

Porsche Closes His Heart

Or: how Kinn nearly loses the love of his life, greets his in-laws, and re-earns Porsche's trust

Oh, this episode is rough for Kinn and Porsche - embodied, painfully, by the line above.

Because Porsche has his heart closed off to Kinn for most of this episode - he's still in shock from learning that Korn knew his family, that's he's been lying since before Porsche even re-met him, and he's angry too.

So angry that he's lost nearly all the trust he had in Kinn.

And Kinn tries so hard to be supportive, to be happy - but every time he reaches out, he sees Porsche pull further away:

Surprisingly, Kinn doesn't show the same jealousy or suspicion that he would have in the past - reflecting his growth, for sure, after everything they've been through together, but also reflecting another big change: that Vegas isn't (as far as Kinn knows) around to manipulate Porsche or lure him away.

Instead, Kinn is only, simply, worried that Porsche is unhappy, being with him.

So, he sets out to make things right, with a very sweet gesture: visiting the graves of Porsche's parents so he can meet them and pay his respects.

Porsche is wary at first - he asks Kinn how he knew where they were buried, waiting to hear that it was Korn's doing. Afraid, maybe, to get a sign that Kinn knows more than he's let on...

But no - Kinn just asked Chay.

And with every cheesy, teasing, or sweet comment Kinn makes, Porsche finds himself smiling at him, genuinely, for the first time in too long.

Until Kinn talks about trust, and how grateful he is to have it in Porsche.

It's at this moment that Porsche fully opens his heart back up - he takes a second to reassess, a quick breath in, and realizes that he does trust Kinn, despite everything.

Because he loves Kinn.

He loves him even as he leaves.
