I also kind of like the idea of them offering to let him stay in their bed with them for the night. basically, I just wanna see them comforting MK after he has a nightmare. For some reason, I could see the nightmare being about either LBD or about the ending of season five when he attempts suicide.

Yes he does have nightmares about that. He usually does, most times he's at Pigsy's, and Freenoodle is there to help him. He hasn't had a LBD nightmare at FFM yet, but even as an adult he would totally chirp without noticing it.

Do heaven even knew he was the harbinger of chaos? Like seriously I don't remember if it was ever stated in the show. Honestly is crazy no one picked up that kid aurea. Makes you wonder who te fuck put such a powerful glamour on him when he was found by Pigsy.

I think they talked about it during the night Wukong apologized to Macaque. The comic I did stops after a certain point but they talked all night about what happened.

Nah they still are in the progress of having to forgive each other but they are very much in a situationship.

I think yes. Canonically by JTTW, Wukong is an expert in many fields, including medicine. But I do wonder if sometimes he forget after so many years of reclusion that people can get sick.

Also absolutely love the face macaque makes here, has just arrived and already has regrets XD

It’s pretty interesting how macaque was the one to suggest tagging along with mk, (cause I had theorized that he would) and having him essentially give him a lesson about how things had went down with wukong makes a lot of sense, also macaque getting onto mk about how he barely knew anything about wukong’s past made me laugh, cause i can imagine after this is all over macaque would sit him down and lecture him about it. If tang hasn’t tried already.

My precious baby!! so hopelessly naïve about the world, him announcing, straight off flower fruit mountain, about how he can talk like a human now, and that he’s the monkey king had me simultaneously grinning and cringing at the same time, cause of course he would do that XD

Interesting choice to have him chained underneath/against the mountain as opposed to being trapped underneath it. But taking creative liberties with it is fine too. I am suddenly reminded of the time I was obsessed with the angst potential that came with wukong being trapped underneath the mountain for five hundred years.

You know, I can sorta get why he was mad. It’s hard being angry when you know what happened was 100% your fault, and knowing that only makes you angrier. Cause the last thing you would want to do at that moment is look inwards and go “you know what? This is my fault, and I shouldn’t be biting people’s heads off for things that they had no control over.” Cause anger is sometimes illogical, and if there’s no anger all there would be left is nothing but hollowness and a deep sense of self hatred, like I’m sure this took place at least a few years during his imprisonment, so his emotions were still raw and his ego had just taken a massive beating, so I’m sure wukong had plenty of time to think things over after macaque left. But at this moment he just wanted to be angry.

Do you think MK would revert to his more violent tactics if anyone were to target reader or his friends? Do you think he has the potential to become a platonic yandere given how much Wukongs tendencies have rubbed off on him or is his moral compass still strong?

he's just a little guy. a little guy full of ☆trauma☆

while i don't think he'd go quite as far as wukong does, he would resort to violence if it's to protect the people he cares about. mk already has a penchant for going all out when he fights (encouraged by his father), so he wouldn't really see why that might be a bad thing at first. he's gotta be strong so that he doesn't get hurt, and so he can defeat anyone who may attack him for his lineage. but he's still got a good heart.

after about a year of living in the city with his friends, mk has come to be very protective of them. he has to be, considering what a trouble magnet he is. there's always some new demon trying to get at him because of his dad.

mk understands why they do it. while he's eager to show them just how much of an "easy target" the monkey kings' protégé is, he kinda wishes they'd give it a rest. he has a tendency to destroy stuff when he fights, and it's not good for his public image (he still causes less collateral than normal mk, though).

because of the many rampages of the infamous monkey king, the citizens have a deep-rooted fear of monkey demons. it's why macaque protects from the shadows, and why he's not well-known despite his role in the jttw. so, mk is used to being feared and distrusted.

however, despite all that...mk is a good kid. he wants to help, and i think he'd be mortified if he had the thought of keeping his friends locked away. he'd do the whole "you're not safe when I'm around, I have to leave" hero cliche thing, then realize his friends are in more danger when he's not around.

🪭 Before the tournament, and all the scary things that happen, his main headspace is about 4-5

❤️‍🔥 But after everything? After all the pain and stuff that happened? More 1-5

🪭 Lord Raiden and Kung Lao are his main CGs, but when Liu Kang and Kitana got together, he wanted her as more of a cg role (or atleast introduce a possible babysitting role)

❤️‍🔥 He was absolutely terrified to tell her though, Kung Lao had to be his personal cheerleader and hypeman 

🪭 Luckily, Kitana already knew what age regression was!!!

❤️‍🔥 Kotal regressed sometimes, and she’d help Jade watch him sometimes

🪭 Kitana usually wakes up to his cries if they’re sleeping in the same room, gently shushing and holding her baby

❤️‍🔥 Most times he’ll end up falling asleep quickly, clinging onto her incredibly tightly

🪭 Other nights they’ve stayed up a few hours, sitting on Kitana’s balcony (she’s a princess, she should have one) and maybe have a little snack the royal chef made them

❤️‍🔥 Most times when Liu Kang also wets himself when he has these terrifying memories :(

🪭 Kitana got him diapers for these accidents, and it makes Liu Kang a bit upset

❤️‍🔥 Not when he is small and has these accidents, that’s different and he knows he needs them

🪭 But when he wakes up and is still wearing one? Kitana that’s too embarrassing! He can’t wear that- What if someone saw the box?

❤️‍🔥 Kitana swears that no one will find out . . . Except for the fact that Liu Kang also has nightmares back at the Sky Temple and she has to explain to Kung Lao and Raiden how to help him (both knew of the accidents, they just never thought of diapers before)

🪭 The royal members . . . well, they aren’t supportive of their relationship in the beginning, especially when this Monk continues to come back to their door, wanting to see the Princess/Kahn (they start liking him at time goes on though)

❤️‍🔥 But they do really like little Liu Kang, he’s very much a sweetheart

🪭 Sometimes Liu also gets phantom pain, or maybe incredibly terrible cramps in his lower leg (from when Shao Kahn beat him in MK11 Aftermath)

❤️‍🔥 Kitana is also incredibly patient and gentle, propping the leg up and holding her sweet baby

🪭 If he’s okay with her touching it, it really depends on the day, she’ll try to massage or stretch it out, she hates hearing Liu Kang wail about the pain :(

❤️‍🔥 Liu Kang has a small chewing problem, especially baby Liu Kang

🪭 He’ll chew on anything!! His stuffie, his fingers, Kitana’s fan -Kitana’s fan!? Give her that, naughty boy

❤️‍🔥 Kitana does have a paci for baby Liu Kang, but Liu Kang will whine and fuss about using it

🪭 He’s not a baby!! . . . Well, he might be, but Mama’s just being mean >:(

❤️‍🔥 ^ It’s really easy to get past Liu Kang’s little fit, Kitana will just slip the paci in his mouth, hold it there for a few seconds, and Liu Kang will accept it

❤️‍🔥 He’s never chewed on his paci, because he doesn’t wanna ruin it, but when he starts to Kitana will change it out for a chewie

🪭 Liu Kang likes his chewie . . . But firmly believes his stuffie is better, which usually earns an eye roll from Kitana

Macaque Book Club AU

He’s the only one asides from Tang probably who has read JTTW. So in his little book club because let’s be honest, between the theatre and the graffiti lego set, he seems like the kind to have a couple modern day hobbies in the arts like your grandma who has a bunch of friends to gossip with at the knitting meet or the greenhouse. He’s the only monkey actually using his human disguise actively so, I imagine they get together at the local library, someone brings refreshments Macky is allergic to by virtue of being a monkey but they get him addicted to (insert snack/drink of your choice) and he gets into fandom discourse at the book club with someone whose like “the 6EM from the book was a one off villain who died ages ago, get over it” but to him, on the worst nights it all comes back. (And maybe this is recently right after Shadow Play so.) oh wait pff, we’re going to need a new recent trigger I forgot he gets kidnapped right after 😭 okay so maybe this person is what pushes him to write the play. I hope you know the exact like of fandom discourse I’m talking about bc I’m really pulling from people who are like??? why are you hyperfixated on this one thing? And maybe Tang eventually puts the pieces together about who this guy is. I also can’t help but start thinking about how lonely Macky might actually be, because you’d THINK he’d be the anti social one but Wukong is the one isolating himself for a thousand years with 13 cats, I mean a bunch of baby monkeys. Meanwhile, Macranberry is out there in Six Earred Hearing Hell in the city and super chatty whenever we see him. He wasn’t as chatty around the Brotherhood. Only with Wukong as needed who was full out dancing on the tables lol, things change eh? Even defeating the smoke monster feels like an attempt at catching up to your friend who got a real job while you’re just starting college. (Aka when Wukong and his shiny new hero legend status sealed the Bull King.) He says there was nobody who could stop the two of them in the Celestial Realm or on earth but we know that 1) Macky doesn’t like the Celestial Realm. 2) They definitely weren’t spending all day there back then with the overthrowing plotting and also got defeated hard. 3) They weren’t actually vigilante heroing back then if Wukong picked up his demon defeating status after the journey. 4) Would Macky ever do that on his own or was it always with Wukong until he tried it out post-resurrection like everything else presumably new about him. He probably meant “nobody could stop Wukong’s mischief that I helped him out with but he mostly did all the big things like immortal peach stealing and the book of the dead himself and I was there for uh, moral support. And baffled that he did that. But I’m going to pretend to MK that we were a cool team and equals and this wasn’t just a precursor to our eventual fall out. Sorry Mr. “yeah you always did have a sidekick kinda vibe.”

and then you’ll just have Tang screaming at Macky throughout s3 about how he must answer for his “crimes” of withholding valuable academic information (3x08 is just them arguing about the content in jttw but it’s not actually about jttw rather about Macky himself and his blind anger obscuring his memories. they just use the book as a cover for the true conversation)

Just wanted to comment that I found your post about the five pillars of magic and who is proficient in which so incredibly interesting! I was actually kinda surprised that Little Star had no experience in Shadow because I’ve gotten the impression that Macaque had more of the role of teacher with them than Wukong did at that time, and he had MK delve into it a little, but I guess the circumstances were VERY different with Macaque actually training Star but manipulating MK to siphon his powers when they first met (actually intrigued about your take on that in the Constellations verse) but obviously you as the author have more info on the characters than we as the audience do.

Poor MK is the only one not proficient in an area yet 😭 but tbh considering he’s so young compared to the rest of them and has been training officially for even less (I guess approximately a year? Maybe more or less? Idk the timelines help) then I think he’s doing real good! My guess would be that he’s gonna master either Celestial or possibly Elemental first since I guess that’s some of what Wukong had been teaching him so far and we know MK takes after him a lot in certain areas? Plot twist would be if you have some mega angst planned and he ends up mastering Death first (I remember Wukong mentioning that the golden flowers of his birth might have appeared in the Underworld too?), orrrr maybe he’ll end up being a Jack of All Trades, Master of None? Anyway MK baby I believe in you 🧡

I'm glad you liked that post, I should reblog it more so others can see 😭Macaque did have a strong role in training Little Star, but the prerequisites for training in shadow are difficult...and not exactly something that sounds fun. To Little Star, magic is fun first and foremost. I don't think they'd be interested (or patient enough) to train in shadow magic. Macaque would respect that.

Huh. 🤔If I had to explain in a constellations!way or how I see it happening, Macaque was manipulating the shadows in MK's heart and mind, pulling on that emotion of wanting to be a great student, powerful and cool enough so that Monkey King would be impressed by him. We know, at this point, that MK was wondering if Wukong thought he'd made a mistake in choosing MK as his successor. Macaque would've honed in on that feeling of inadequacy and used it to his advantage.

So, then, Macaque could give power to MK in that way. Once Macaque can control/see the shadows in someone's heart and mind, it's exceptionally easy for him to manipulate them. Macaque can give them nightmares, conversely, he can also prevent nightmares by this same manipulation (this will come up later). I'd like to think that he needs to have some feeling to go off of, y'know. A way to get his foot in the door. Training with MK in season 1 was Macaque finding that way in, and he grabbed hold of it, and...the reset of the episode happened. That's how I'd explain it, anyway. So MK doesn't know shadow magic formally. He's just felt it and somewhat controlled it...kind of.

No, MK is not proficient...yet. In Constellations, the first three seasons of the show took place in two years. Right now, in the epilogue, we are in...May! Of the third year (yes i have this fic planned down to the timeline, leave me alone). The epilogue will end in, roughly, September. MK will be training that whole time.

So he's been training for about two and a half years. I'd say he's making great progress! He's mastered the 72 transformations, and once he's directed his celestial magic to interact with all of the elements, he'll have crossed another milestone. For magic proficiency, we have to think...smaller. Like by individual spells. For an immortal, time is nothing. For MK? Every second counts, and he's learning fast. He's great at cloud-somersaulting already after his first attempt. That's fucking astounding since it even took Wukong some time to master. You're right that he's doing great!!

MK is focusing on celestial and elemental right now, yes. This will come up in chapter 6 of the epilogue. And! In chapter 3, Macaque and Wukong discussed the order of teaching MK the elements. In their minds, that means MK has a solid foundation in celestial magic, enough so that they can push him to do more elemental things.

Interesting that you'd mention death magic...what a plot twist that would be, indeed. 😁We'll have to see what happens. But! I do love the idea of MK being a jack of all trades. I just love characters like that. But, if I were to put a celestial primate in that category right now, it'd be Macaque. But that's just because he loves magic so much.

Wukong did say that MK's birth made golden flowers bloom in every realm (this is very important) along with an earthquake. So! Golden flowers from MK's birth are in the Underworld! Wonder what happened with them, huh.
