SXF Chapter 93 Analysis-Loid on Anya's Past

Okay, I wanted to talk about this scene in this post first.

I love how Twilight doesn't ask Anya this question in his Twilight mode. It didn't feel like he was interrogating her. He was just genuinely curious about the origins of his adoptive daughter and this just shows that this curiosity about her past was always within his thoughts.

And judging Anya's reaction upon his sudden question, she didn't look like scared and panicky to me. She's just like genuinely surprised, like oh, is it weird that I'm good at it? Her expression kinda reminds me of her reaction at Loid correcting her name on Chapter 90.5

The same deadpan stare.

My guess is that her name and classical language were both things that were part of her identity before she can even remember it. And it being questioned makes her a little curious and confuse about herself as well.

I think classical language was a natural for thing for Anya, it could be from the place she grew up in and I don't think it was a product of the experiments on her (if it was, she would be conscious about being too good about it for she always tries to hide anything that might reveal her being a telepath). So I think her knowledge of classical language would not connect her relation to the experiments but rather to her origins which she may not have a memory of.

I think that Anya might be telling the truth on this part. She was so little back then (1-3 years old, I suppose), I'm sure all she can remember was being experimented on and not anything about her early stages in her life where she was not in the custody of the scientists but rather with her real family. (But at least she has some memories of her biological mother, based on her reaction on the Eden interview, she might have been with Anya for a quite some time)

I believe that this could serve as a turning point for Twilight to delve deeper into Anya's background. But as I already discussed from this post, he has this hesitance when it comes to digging deep about his fake daughter, for he could stumble upon a truth that he might not be capable of accepting. A truth that might take her away from him.

Following their conversation that night, Anya appeared unconcerned about Loid's inquiries regarding her knowledge of the classical language. He likely dismissed that curiosity from his mind. If he was planning to research about Anya, Anya would definitely know and of course she would panic and worry about him finding about her abilities.

But it revealed to us one thing, Loid is indeed concerned about Anya's history, he didn’t completely pushed the thought in his mind, meaning it was indeed something that he considered to be crucial, but he is choosing to not make it his priority to know, I guess he still in the mindset that there’s no use in prying too much or rather it wouldn’t be good for him, his mission and their family if he did.

Okay, enough of the serious stuff, now let me appreciate the father-daughter moments they have in this chapter

And this exchange between them, Twilight/Loid is becoming more of a real father to Anya, I just love to see him so concerned about his baby. I wonder if he was putting the blanket back on her every time he saw she had kicked it off so she won't cold when she wakes up. That was canon for me.

Pregnancy headcanons with Castin and the Baroness:

Say bye-bye to Castin and the Baroness' sleep schedule because it's gonna be fuck up when she hits the trimester period! The Baroness is gonna be tossing and turning, sleeping in various bedrooms for that perfect spot in the bed just so she can FEEL comfortable. Castin is gonna take it like a champ, though! The servants see a lot of sleepy and blurry-eyed Castin trailing after his wife, and they go from one room to another.

Cravings! Unfortunately, she's gonna be missing a lot of dishes from the Empire. Castin would need to work closely with the chefs in the manor so they could cook something up for her. The Baroness appreciates their efforts, especially when they add a little bit of Intacian flair to every dish. Yum!

Clothings! Well now, the Baroness would have to wear a lot of maternity dresses once her stomach is showing. She's gonna want a lot of looser dresses so she can move easily, and Castin can't wait to cuddle with her all the time! He's gonna get so clingy that the Baroness is gonna demand his men to distract him with training or something dnjndjkgnfd.

We can't forget about the baby's name! Castin and the Baroness will argue back and forth on the perfect name for their child. Never mind that they still don't know the gender of said child 😂 Maybe they're gonna settle it in a series of games? Winners get to choose the name!

Now announcement! I feel like Castin would be so eager to scream it from their balcony that he's gonna be a Daddy soon while an embarrassed Baroness is dragging him back inside. Castin's men is gonna tease him in good nature, each of them is aware how much more protective and possessive their Commander is gonna be. They're gonna have to keep a close eye on the Baroness from a distance for a few months.

Also, we know how much of a workaholic the Baroness is. Hell, people from Steelgate even claimed that she's the 'busiest woman in the world' so Castin is gonna have to gently mind you, GENTLY, wrestle her away from her study room. He'll even go so far as to ask Rhett to stop loading his wife with work, for Goddess' sake brother, can't you see my wife is waddling now!?

Do all your sims usually have 2 names or is it just this save? Also how do you come up with the names? Because I have noticed sometimes you name them after grandparents or some other relatives and I’d like to know your process! ❤️

Hey there anon - I give my sims a first name and a middle name, so long as it fits in the first name box in CAS. I give a middle name to everyone in the immediate family line.

I come up with middle names by thinking about naming conventions during the particular era the sim is born in. Middle names are (and to an extent, still are) a way of honouring other family members like parents and grandparents, or a deceased family member. This informed the middle names I chose in the earlier generations.

For example:

1930: Douglas Quentin (grandfather), Bernard Oscar and Cecil Theodore (father), Eileen Daisy (grandmother)

1940: Margot Ruth (grandmother), Vincent Douglas (father), Lewis Theodore (grandfather)

1950: Violet Ruth (great-grandmother), Pearl Celeste (grandmother), Stella Joan (grandmother)

Sometimes middle names are just a second name that parents liked and wanted to give their child. This is pretty common in more modern times. So I will usually choose name that fits in terms of theme, era and syllable length - for instance, if a first name is 2 syllables, then a middle name that is either 1 or 3 syllables usually sounds nice.

For example:

1950: Desmond James (after James Dean, movie star), Leonard Winston (after Churchill, parents lived in post-war England)

1960: Eleanor June, Daphne Lee (60s-themed names, fitting with their parents being trend setting popstars)

1970: River Eli, Clover Rae, Indigo Mars, Summer Joy (fitting with their parents Hippy sensibilities)

I use baby name websites and Google to search up lists of names from each era and then select those which I personally like or which fit with the sensibilities of the parents.

First ship ever - These are all from roughly the same time, and I was only a kid at the time, so I’m not sure which came first, but I’d say Maddie Hayes x David Addison from Moonlighting, Jim Dempsey x Harriet ‘Harry’ Makepeace from Dempsey & Makepeace, and Anne Shirley x Gilbert Blythe from the 1985 made-for-television adaptation of Anne of Green Gables and its 1987 sequel. In my teenage years, I seriously shipped Benton Fraser x Ray Vecchio from Due South.

Last song you heard - I stopped at the Tesco Express on my way home from work earlier to see if they had anything I fancied for dinner (spoiler alert - they didn’t) and You Can Get It If You Really Want came on over the sound system, much to the seeming delight of everyone in the store because we all started humming, whistling and, in the case of one customer, even singing along. Oh, and it was the Jimmy Cliff version, not the Desmond Dekker one, or at least it sounded like it.

Currently reading - The Binding Room by Nadine Matheson (the sequel to The Jigsaw Man, which I just finished earlier this week), and I’m also making my way through a book of short stories called That Was A Shiver, and Other Stories by James Kelman.

Currently watching - I finally got around to watching the last half of the last season of The Blacklist this week, watching the very last episode just last night. I’m also watching reruns of The Closer and the original The Twilight Zone, as well the current seasons of Death in Paradise, Murdoch Mysteries, N.C.I.S. and Law & Order. I’m also watching Tatort Saarbrücken, but I’m trying to make the episodes last because there’s only five of them and the next one doesn’t air until January! I have a whole stack of other stuff I still have to get around to as well, but there’s only so many hours in the day.

Currently consuming - A tin of Pepsi Max.

I play literally just the Desmond AC games (let’s be real, the Ezio games) because Desmond and Ezio are my fuckin BABIES. I literally commissioned art of Ezio to hang up on my walls. For that matter, if you’re not following @moodsworks go do so! She is the whole-ass inspiration for my fic Triptych and the loveliest person I’ve ever met!!!!!

I guess the answer to your question is “aggressively, until you feel the need to learn Italian”. I’m a completionist, so I’m just grinding the remaining 15% of Brotherhood and ~crying~ about it LOL. Currently at like 45 hours into this one, but it took 32 hrs for 100% on ACII. I’ve been playing this game for like literally 15 years though, they’re so goddamn different than the recent AC games. I think Brohood or Rev is the last game to use the puppeteer controls. But I love them so fucking much and I think AC is my first fandom to post fic for, back when I was in grade school—with my first ever OC, Lacrima Bureau ❤️❤️❤️

That said, I would rather touch a hundred hot seatbelt keys than willingly play the War Machine missions—specifically the goddamn motherfucking tank

AC (at least the games I play) is kind of insanely GTA in some ways: Italian mafia, insane gun weapons, you can drive a tank (invented by Leonardo da Vinci, Ezio’s canon bestie), you work with courtesans (prostitutes) and thieves, you make bombs, bribe ppl almost openly, steal shit from ppl by tackling them, and you have a notoriety meter, just to name a few similarities

experience in RP — honestly i've been rping since i was probably too young to rp on the internet 💀 i started on deviantart (which like. oops but also i was like 9) and then started rping on tumblr likeee ~2015 or so. i actually first started writing Kaki on tumblr in like 2016, and then kinda started writing on twitter in 2019 when the RPC on here started to wane from its peak. i came back very recently because i got tired of the limitations of writing on twitter

best experiences — as of recent, i've had a few really really fun crossover threads on twitter that will stay with me forever atp. one was a real slowburn romance plot with a spike spiegel, and another was of isekai plot with desmond miles from assassin's creed that ended up being really fun and sweet. i also have a really cute ship going with a friend's DB OC on twitter, too. oh kaki and her tendency to adopt men two heads taller than her ❤️

pet peeves/dealbreakers — trying to force OOC scenarios/behaviors onto kaki or otherwise just making it clear you don't respect her character outside of writing will really sour me in terms of trying for future interactions. i doubt this will happen here as it's mostly a problem i've had on twitter but JUST IN CASE!!! i'm mostly talking stuff like, oversexualizing her because she has muscles ("step on me, m*mmy" & such comments are a HUGE no-no), assuming she's overly aggressive/belligerent, or on the flip-side, babying her like she's a cutesy helpless waif. she is a 30+ year old woman with thoughts and feelings and i would like her autonomy to be respected.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — HONESTLY i'm down with anything as long as it's interesting. on my own i tend to write adventure-drama type plots (the dbz fic i'm working on is just a space opera tbh) with a splash of horror of some flavor, usually with anti-capitalist/fascist/imperialist messaging. i think the one thing i should mention is that i do really enjoy when there's a conflict or overarching storyline happening in longer plotted threads; it just keeps me more engaged.

plot or memes — both are good and work tbh. memes can be good for breaking the ice or actually figuring out a dynamic in practice, but if we want to go for something more in-depth, i do prefer some plotting (even if it's just planning points A and B and then just improvising how our muses get there)

long or short replies — quality > quantity. even if your response is like 3 sentences or less, if it moves things along, it's fine with me (:

best time to write — i tend to write more at night or on the weekends. really just when i'm not dead tired 😭but also if i really get into the plot of a thread, i'll get kinda hyperfixated on it and respond in like 3 seconds. my fault

are you like your muse? — In a lot of ways, yeah. Kaki is an OC i've been developing for like at least a decade now, and a lot of her experiences are drawn from things I personally have experienced (albeit, greatly exaggerated lmao), and the kind of character she's become is a projection of my beliefs and how I feel about the current state of the world. Writing her is a bit of a catharsis for me, really.

“What the fuck is this?!”

“DESMOND, YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING WITHOUT CHECKING WITH ME FIRST!”

You scrambled up and out of the bed, snatching the phone out of the ancient man-eaters hand. It was 4 in the morning, far too early for you. Being woken with a phone shoved in your face displaying a rather unsettling image wasn’t ideal; but you knew the consequences of buying Desmond a phone, and this was one of them.

“How did you even manage to find this?!” You frantically asked, scrolling through more and more images. Glancing up, Desmond’s expression even more scared than your own.

“I DON'T KNOW. get that THING off of the type text thingy screen!” He panicked. Desmond had NO clue how to work a phone, and you were aware of it. You were tired of staying up late at night or being woken up in the middle of it because of Desmond, so despite all of his bitterness and refusal, you bought him a phone to keep him distracted in hopes he would leave you alone at night.

With a low and deep sigh, you deleted the app, and stuffed the phone into the drawer next to your bed.

You were the one accepting defeat now.

“You’ve been alive for what? Over 200 years. And you still don’t know how to work a phone?” You crossed your arms, facing the man once more.

“I’m well aware of what these ‘phones’ are and what they do, I just rather spend my time doing something productive. Teens these days are too consumed with media to be aware of their surroundings-“

You cut him off. You had heard this same rant over a million times, and you weren’t about to take it from him.

“Okay grandpa. I get what you said, but at the same time, you send me pictures of your shoes because you don’t know how to flip the camera, and you play uno, knowing there’s a real version of it. So i don’t want to hear how you want to ‘spend your time doing something productive’ because you do the exact same thing. Just worse.”

His face twisted into one of dramatic fake agony. He sat down onto his bed behind you, lacing his arms around your waist and pulling you down with him.

“Do you not like the pictures I send you?” Desmond frowned, squeezing your body.

“Desmond- honey.. they’re 9 out of 10 times a picture of the floor, your shoes, or the wall.”

You heard his low whine in response. Who knew a this big ‘scary’ vampire was such a baby.

“What about the messages i send you? are you unappreciative of those as well?”

Messages? Does he mean the keyboard smashes? You look behind at him in response, deadpanning.

“The letters are too small!” He tried to reason.

With a slow blink, you gave up, leaning into him as you cupped his face, kissing him on the cheek. Boy was he a spoiled brat.

“We’ll work on it together.” ❤️
