भगवान के विषय में सतयुग के वृहत संतों का ज्ञान केवल इतना ही रहा कि शेषनाग (विष्णु) ने पृथ्वी सर पर रख ली इसलिये वो भगवान, कृष्ण जी ने गोवर्धन उठाया इसलिये वो भगवान, हनुमान जी ने पर्वत उठाया इसलिये वो भगवान मतलब चमत्कार को ही भगवान का पैमाना माना गया जबकी वैदिक मान्यताओ को देखे तो भगवान कोई और ही परिभाषित होता है ।

भगवान के विषय में सतयुग के वृहत संतों के ज्ञान का वर्णन गीताप्रेस गोरखपुर से प्रकाशित, श्री हनुमान प्रसाद पोद्दार और चिमन लाल गोस्वामी द्वारा संपादित श्रीमद् देवी भागवत पुराण में मिलता है ।
