Many manga have gotten half-assed anime but one thing I'm definitely never going to forgive is that the Ayashi no Ceres anime all but cut Shuro completely to have her show up in one single episode. Like. She deserved better.

I wonder if JJK was inspired by Ayashi no Ceres.
Teenage protagonist gets caught up in soul swapping/reincarnation/eugenics.

The Yuu Watase Original Art Exhibition celebrating 35 years in the manga industry is now open in Tokyo, Japan!
This large-scale art exhibit features collections of Yuu Watase's original illustrations from all throughout her career.
This is such a well earned and much deserved celebration of Watase and her works. It brings me so much joy to see my favorite mangaka celebrated in such a way!

I finished reading Dungeon Meshi today and I finished Ceres about a week ago. They were both such engaging and thought-provoking manga!
I'm ready to tackle another series from my unread collection, so please help me choose one! 🥺✨

I just have to say that Shiso Mikagi from Ayashi no Ceres is legitimately the best antagonist I have ever seen. They don't make them like that anymore.
He's absolutely unhinged. He's batshit crazy. His behavior is so unpredictably weird that none of the protagonists can begin to guess at his next move.
And yet, his evil is NEVER watered down, even when the narrative (successfully) works to paint him as sympathetic despite his misdeeds. He is the devil incarnate and yet. YET.

Shiso Mikage is also fantastic because his reincarnation is the main character's twin Aki. He subsumes this twin completely and replaces his will with his own. The body is *his,* even if the main character perceives him as her brother. They can't kill him without killing Aki. It's such a mindfuck.
And somehow the artist manages to easily distinguish Shiso Mikage from Aki with her art style. It isn't just the scar on his cheek. It's something dead and flat in his eyes.
I just love this antagonist. He's the gold standard.
