If Gregory, Mia and Mel are Phoenix and Maya's biological kids, does that mean Phoenix and Maya have Done the Deed, so to speak? Or were other methods involved?

Hello friend! I feel like if I gave the “quick” answer to this question, it’s going to be missing a lot of important context, and since I feel like the topic of family planning from a queerplatonic/aroace perspective is seldom talked about, I'm going to go more in-depth.

This is a little long and I know the subject matter isn’t for everyone, so the details along with a mini-comic are below the cut! (Nothing discussed is above the T rating!)

In my AU, Phoenix, Maya, and Edgeworth are all on different places on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum (cue "Ace" Attorney jokes). It’s also worth mentioning that they're in a queerplatonic relationship, so their orientations don't really matter that much with regards to the polycule. If any of them wanted to pursue a romantic relationship with someone besides each other, it doesn’t break the queerplatonic polycule. However, their orientations does matter with regards to the kids.

One of the fics I'm writing takes place after Spirit of Justice where Maya is starting to seriously think about the future of the Fey Clan lineage. This makes Phoenix anxious, as he's well aware of the history of disastrous marriages in Kurain Village, and hopes to whoever's listening that it doesn't happen to Maya, too. However, he's not attracted to her in that way, so he doesn't get involved outside of being there for moral support.

Extremely long story short, after Maya's disastrous dating life--where she discovers she does not like romantic attention--soul-searching, emotional turmoil, Phoenix and Maya ask themselves why they couldn't have a family together as friends--especially after Edgeworth lectures both of them on separate occasions that they were viewing the situation too romantically. Fey Clan lineage doesn't care about romance, you see.

Obviously how the kids came to be was a huge hang-up. When Maya lamented that she wasn't fond of romantic attention during her moment of self-discovery, Phoenix recommended she have a chat with Edgeworth, who suggested the very unromantic route of donors (and offered to help pay). On a different occasion, when Phoenix was hung up over the birds and the bees, so to speak, Edgeworth suggests that he (Phoenix, to be clear) could be a donor for Maya. That doesn't involve contact, Maya's kids would have a dad who loves them and their mom, it's a win-win.

Unfortunately, well after Phoenix and Maya were already emotionally invested in starting the family together, Maya learns that known donors require a lot more time and money than unknown donors, as well as mandatory therapy. Did I mention money? So, to put a finer point on it, since they felt very secure with their friendship and nothing has threatened it thus far in this situation, they didn't see why they couldn't give the "free" route a shot.

As you might have guessed, given the lack of attraction towards each other in that way... it did not go well. 

It was the straw that broke the camel's back and started to strain their relationship. So much so, that when they were working together in court after trying for a few months, Edgeworth noticed they were irritable towards each other and requested a recess to chat with them...

(And Edgeworth is still in disbelief that he did more research than they did..........but he got a son out of the whole ordeal so it’s okay. :) )

To sum it all up, while it was far from their first choice, they certainly did give Doing the Deed a shot for the sake of saving time and money, but they found it was too much for them so all three kids were conceived with those at-home kits.

Rosebelle Sonner

Rosebelle's family do have an odd visual phenomenon where in the dark they turn into distorted figures. They don't actually turn into those things it's just a hallucination, so they are not aware of it. It doesn't really happen with Rosebelle and her partners because they see her in a different way so she stays the same, but strangers and others who don't know or like them will see them as such.

Charlie is only with Gerald's ass because her parents said they'd cut her off if she left him and she needed their financial support. She does not feel love for his ass and never did (he was just a hookup) but her parents said "nah we will not support a single mother" so she had to put up with his bullshit up until Rosebelle got with Spencer and Anatolii in her adult years.

She divorced him, got him arrested and got her and Gregory therapy. They've been doing a lot better ever since.

Gerald's high key a pervert omfg. Charlie would never let him touch her children in that way. She's actually come close to killing him just for trying.

Charlie owns many guns, actually. But she's the only one with access to them. That was until Rosebelle turned 11..

"Why didn't you shoot him?"

"I don't have a gun.."

"Well you need to start carrying."

"…"

"Now help me hide the body or you're grounded."

"What."

When Rosebelle pulled not one, but 2 guys she was low-key floored. When she found out one of them was super rich she actually couldn't believe it. She thought her daughter was aroace low-key.

She became an asexual after getting pregnant twice. And because of Gerald.

"As you can see, I have two lovely children. And only two. There will not be a third."

Charlie doesn't want Rosebelle to have any children before the age of 40. Rosebelle said "I got you" and pointed towards the adoption center.

She does treat Anatolii and Spencer with respect. She's a bit hesitant around Spencer though because she's scared his parents will find her and have her put in the ground if she dared to disrespect their son (Soph would they do this or no)

Rosebelle has canonically attacked her father. She bit his neck and wouldn't let go. Gerald began to choke her after that, calling her all kinds of vile names. Bro then took a whole ass kitchen knife and stabbed her to get her to stop resisting. Gregory came in with the scissors in clutch and stabbed him. Rosebelle banged his head against the counter, knocking him out.

They then ate his cheesecake and ice cream sandwiches. This was when Rosebelle was dating Spencer and Anatolii so she had to hide ts using her bow n stuff. That was when Charlie left him. (after getting her kids McDonald's as a reward)

Rosebelle has 2 cousins named Tyler and Daphne. Tyler is loud and likes giving concussions to people for even the smallest infraction. Daphne is a self absorbed so called "influencer" who records him doing so. They cannot stand each other sometimes and will openly badmouth the other.

Tyler and Daphne don't see Rosebelle a lot as a child because Charlie's sister didn't want to expose her children to the Sonner household. (real) When Charlie divorced Gerald though, they began seeing each other more. Tyler and Daphne have no bad blood with Rosebelle or Gregory, so they all hang out sometimes.

Tyler had no idea Rosebelle was even dating until he saw the ring on Rosebelle's finger (real)

Tyler - What? Rosebelle you didn't tell me you were a player.

Rosebelle - Don't you ever accuse me of such a crime again.

Daphne - Well then how do you have 2 boyfriends?

Daphne - Ahem???

Tyler - I mean uh how did you pull more than me..?

Aftermath squad? Oh god that's everyone... Okay okay. Every character is asexual because I said so. It's the projection innit

Gregory, Cassie and Ellis are all bi, Tony is gay + demiromantic. Cass and Greg are also trans! And one more for Greg, he's arospec-- not sure how to label it but he is almossst demiromantic. He likes affection but can't always reciprocate it. Yknow? (Very personal projection there as you can tell) Cass is also arospec, she's 100% demiromantic but also not a huge fan of romance 100% of the time. I'm aware there's umbrella terms about this but I'm not abt to google all this just for a tumblr ask

Vanessa is a lesbian, Wanda is too; Vanessa is trans also. Cooper doesn't really label himself. He doesn't mind anything though, so if you wanna label it then it's panromanticism. Cassie's dad is bi

Luis is the only straight character because iiiii don't care about him at all I'm not gonna hide it

No other characters have ever had enough importance to be given sexuality however I will speak on the animatronics too.

Freddy is bi, Bonnie is gay, Monty is pan, Chica and Roxy are both lesbians, sun/moon/eclipse don't really have interest in anything like that (aroace DCA is probably unheard of so I'll gladly be the first to hc that)

MXES is nonbinary, they/them. Mimic is genderfluid, uses he/it + the pronouns of whatever it's mimicking. Glitchtrap, Dr. Rabbit and Vanny are all nonbinary but use the same pronouns as canon

I’m having WICKED feels again and I just have to let them out.

It completely boggles my mind that this isn’t bigger? I don’t understand.

Every mediocre movie/show adaptation of a book and I’ll get a “READ THE BOOK INSTEAD!!!” thrown at me left and right. But somehow, for some unfathomable reason, everyone seems entirely content with the WICKED musical and nobody picks up the bloody books. Why.

That musical is nice, it’s pretty. It’s insanely inaccurate and even more of a Disney-fication of the story than early Disney princess movies were of the original fairy tales, I mean seriously that musical takes all of the tension and bite out of it.

And if the musical made you ship Gelphie? Read the freaking books because the author queercoded their relationship way more than the musical did and knowing Gregory Maguire, that wasn’t a coincident. It’s not queerbait, he puts queer characters into his books. There are queer characters in these books.

Aside from the canon mlm side pairing and the canon polyamorous throuple in the first WICKED book, the lead character of the second book is literally a bisexual man.

The whole second book is about a bisexual man and his dragon rider boyfriend and how in the world is tumblr sleeping on that I don’t understand.

(Also, I’d contest, that the third book’s female lead, Nor, is aroace, though it is not put into words. But come on, she got married to a Lion specifically because he would never sexually touch her and it’s clear in canon that she harbors friendship but no romantic feelings for him. This isn’t bestiary, it’s a beard.)

And whatever the hell is going on in the fourth book is queer too, but to narrow it down further would include just too many spoilers for that.

Either way, this is an incredibly queer magical book series about witches and trauma passed on from one generation to the next. It’s incredibly captivating because you don’t just see a small window into the life of a character, but you see Elphie’s whole, entire life and you see Liir’s full life fold out and you watch their growth, their struggles, their loves and losses.

For all intends and purposes, this book series should be hella famous on tumblr. But no, the majority of people only seem aware of the musical.

Please, all I want is for that movie adaptation of the musical to bring the kind of people into the fandom who do read the books an adaptation is based on.

-Randy owns a lot of avant-garde media. He’ll be blasting the residents and captain beefheart while having several surreal paintings hanging in his room.

-Tim Tam and Gerry are good friends. Their favorite hobby is to find toys (partially dolls) and just fuck them up, usually through burning.

-Gerry isn’t human. They’re just a fuzzy monster baby.

-Gerry used to live in a junkyard in a city. Since they didn’t have a proper home, they relied on eating rats and garbage. They even ate cigarettes, occasionally eating a whole box of them, which led to them getting their extremely scratchy.

-Gerry’s digestion system is very strong. Bitch is able to eat a McDonald’s toy and be just fine.

-Ronbo and Gerry are best friends, although Ronbo acts more like an uncle to Gerry.

-Ronbo is baffled by Gerry, even if that baffledness has slightly faded after being Gerry’s friend for a while. Aware of Gerry’s ability to handle eating literally anything, Ronbo wants to give garbage and occasionally even cigarettes for Gerry to eat to see if it’s true. However, Ronbo is very hesitant about it and they’re constantly debating to himself if he should do it or not.

-Gerry and Ronbo LOVE mr bungle, and it’s practically the main reason they have such a good bond.

-Habit listens to a lot of Stump, Mr Bungle, Insane Clown Posse, Steve Hackett, and Gangpol and Mit.

-Millie is aggressively southern.

-Borbra likes to call Questionette “Birdhouse.”

-The only thing that Questionette can say that’s everyone else can understand is “men is too headache.”

-Habit’s hair is so big that he can store shit in it.

-Trencil and Jimothan.... they are in love.

-Trencil writes poetry as a hobby, more specifically, gay gothic poetry.

-Marv and Wallus? They’re also in love.

-Tim Tam used to live in a horrifically gendered household. Fortunately, they were able to run away from there and lived under a bridge before they came to the habitat.

-Gillis has a Sanrio Instagram account.

-Randy and Gillis both have pet rats.

-Gillis literally loves all animals and strongly defends “ugly” animals.

-Randy has an ungodly addiction to pickle flavored Pringle’s.

-Ronbo sometimes eats raw ramen blocks from instant ramen. He occasionally sprinkles the power shit on the ramen for flavor.

-Gerry has sensory issues. They’re sensitive to light, so they have their hair covering their eyes. Gerry hates not having their oven mits on because they hate the feeling of their hands when they don’t have them on.

-Gerry has a large collection of Oven Mits.

-Gerry would tell a very adult joke and then immediately after that say like “pee pee poo poo” and lose their goddamn mind.

-Depsite them being very kind and considerate, Ronbo can’t help but do shit because “it’s funny.”
