My fellow zillennial. It's come to my attention that Gen Alpha is apparently making aesthetic tiktoks romanticizing 2020, like they want to be a teenager during that time??? Like no? You don't? I can't even begin to start breaking down how bad that year was in every category. McDonalds apparently now has "standards" yet another rubbish thing to add to the "college degrees make you overqualified with zero experience sorry you can't get this entry job" bucket. And Lunchables news reporters are like 30 years too late to be writing an expose on the toxic levels of metal in that.

people were dying????? we were in a state of panic and isolation???? schools were struggling with the switch to online only classes????

do we all remember the BLM protests and the tips on how to keep your face hidden and how to stay safe from getting maced???? do we remember the pushback against it??? calling on botched stats???

do we even remember the fucking US election???? how heated it got???? how much distrust republicans tried to seed into mail-in ballots?????

and then literally January of 2021, the US legislative house gets stormed in, Texas has a freeze so bad our gridlock shuts down and PEOPLE DIED FROM THE COLD WHILE EVERYONE ELSE MOCKED US FOR FREEZING!!!

2020 was not a good year. it is the furthest from a a good year, but it sure as hell emphasized a motley of issues the world had going on (tho i’m more versed in the US issues bc i live there)

Went to my local haunted forest today and was actually surprised when we got haunted. Like girlie we’re supposed to convince ourselves that the supernatural’s real, we’re not supposed to actually experience it!!

#shitpost #Halloween #the supernatural #ghosts #so basically there’s a bunch of ghosts that are completely harmless but then there’s also what I’m 99% sure is a crawler #so a demon #it’s a demon #and you’re not supposed to stand still for too long in certain parts of the forest because it will come for you #and you know it’s nearby because it gets unnaturally quiet #so my friend and I managed to get lost and we had to send my parents a live tracker of our location so they could find us and pick us up #and while we were waiting for them it got dark and we had to stand still for maybe 20 minutes #and it went DEAD SILENT #and we saw some massive disruption with the bushes and this one tree that looked like a large animal should have been moving around #but there was no animal #and so we just had to do what we could to keep the demon away while we waited for our lift #which turned into us singing Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne very loudly at a suspicious tree #oh yeah and just before it went silent my friend started feeling a burning sensation in her hand where some old candle wax was #the wax was from when we tried to see if we could commune with this one friendly ghost earlier on #so it’s possible he was warning us through the wax

So @savvysass and I were talking last night and now inquiring minds need to know:

If you’re wondering where I personally landed, it was that Joel took away his privileges…mostly because the idea of Tommy specifically teaching Ellie punk/emo songs that were popular in the 90s/00s that he knows Joel absolutely hates is incredibly amusing to me.

(We were discussing it in the context of the show, but if you’re thinking about the game, there’s a vague and not really spoilery TLOU 2 Note under the cut.)

I’m aware it’s lightly referenced in the game—Joel’s reaction just implies he doesn’t like Tommy having the guitar in his hands, not why. Is it because he can’t play, because he’s bad at it, or because Joel hates his music? He just sort of strums at the guitar with weak strings…so it’s up to us.
